Ash-Shamail Al-Muhammadiyah # 27/187
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ جَنْدَلٍ الْيَافِعِيِّ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ الأَنْصَارِيِّ، قَالَ: كُنَّا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، يَوْمًا، فَقَرَّبَ طَعَامًا، فَلَمْ أَرَ طَعَامًا كَانَ أَعْظَمَ بَرَكَةً مِنْهُ، أَوَّلَ مَا أَكَلْنَا، وَلا أَقَلَّ بَرَكَةً فِي آخِرِهِ، قُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، كَيْفَ هَذَا؟ قَالَ: إِنَّا ذَكَرْنَا اسْمَ اللهِ حِينَ أَكَلْنَا، ثُمَّ قَعَدَ مَنْ أَكَلَ وَلَمْ يُسَمِّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى فَأَكَلَ مَعَهُ الشَّيْطَانُ.
Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, saying: Ibn Lahi'ah narrated to us, on the authority of Yazid ibn Abi Habib, on the authority of Rashid ibn Jandal al-Yafi'i, on the authority of Habib ibn Aws, on the authority of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari, who said: We were with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, one day, and he brought food. I have never seen food that was more blessed at the beginning of our eating, nor less blessed at the end. We said: O Messenger of God… God, how is this? He said: We mentioned the name of God when we ate, then someone who ate without mentioning the name of God Almighty sat down and Satan ate with him.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوائِيُّ، عَنْ بُدَيْلٍ الْعُقَيْلِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ، فَنَسِيَ أَنْ يَذْكُرَ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى عَلَى طَعَامِهِ، فَلْيَقُلْ: بِسْمِ اللهِ أَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ.
Yahya ibn Musa narrated to us, saying: Abu Dawud narrated to us, saying: Hisham al-Dastawa’i narrated to us, on the authority of Budayl al-‘Uqayli, on the authority of ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Ubayd ibn ‘Umayr, on the authority of Umm Kulthum, on the authority of ‘A’ishah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “If one of you eats and forgets to mention the name of Allah before his food, let him say: ‘In the name of Allah,’ at the beginning of it.” And its end.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ الْهَاشِمِيُّ الْبَصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، وَعِنْدَهُ طَعَامٌ، فَقَالَ: ادْنُ يَا بُنَيَّ، فَسَمِّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى، وَكُلْ بِيَمِينِكَ، وَكُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ.
Abdullah ibn al-Sabbah al-Hashimi al-Basri told us: Abdul-A’la told us, on the authority of Ma’mar, on the authority of Hisham ibn Urwa, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Umar ibn Abi Salama, that he entered upon the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and there was food with him, so he said: Come closer, my son, and mention the name of God Almighty, and eat with your right hand, and eat from what is nearest to you.

حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ، عَنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رِيَاحٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ رِيَاحِ بْنِ عَبِيدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا فَرَغَ مِنْ طَعَامِهِ، قَالَ: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَجَعَلَنَا مُسْلِمِينَ.
Mahmud ibn Ghaylan told us, saying: Abu Ahmad al-Zubayri told us, saying: Sufyan al-Thawri told us, on the authority of Abu Hashim, on the authority of Isma'il ibn Riyah, on the authority of his father Riyah ibn 'Ubaydah, on the authority of Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) finished his meal, he would say: "Praise be to Allah, Who has fed us and given us drink and made us..." Muslims.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا ثَوْرُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ خَالِدُ بْنُ مَعْدَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِذَا رُفِعَتِ الْمَائِدَةُ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ، يَقُولُ: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ حَمْدًا كَثِيرًا طَيِّبًا مُبَارَكًا فِيهِ، غَيْرَ مُودَعٍ، وَلا مُسْتَغْنًى عَنْهُ رَبَّنَا.
Muhammad ibn Bashar told us, saying: Yahya ibn Saeed told us, saying: Thawr ibn Yazid told us, on the authority of Khalid ibn Ma’dan, on the authority of Abu Umamah, who said: When the food was removed from in front of the Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, he would say: “Praise be to God, abundant, good, and blessed praise, which is not to be left behind, nor can we do without it, our Lord.”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتُوائِيِّ، عَنْ بُدَيْلِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ الْعُقَيْلِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَأْكُلُ الطَّعَامَ فِي سِتَّةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ، فَجَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ، فَأَكَلَهُ بِلُقْمَتَيْنِ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: لَوْ سَمَّى لَكَفَاكُمْ.
Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn Aban narrated to us, saying: Waki’ narrated to us, on the authority of Hisham al-Dastawa’i, on the authority of Budayl ibn Maysarah al-‘Uqayli, on the authority of ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Ubayd ibn ‘Umayr, on the authority of Umm Kulthum, on the authority of ‘A’ishah, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, used to eat food with six of his companions. Then a Bedouin came and ate it in two mouthfuls. So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said... Peace and blessings be upon him: If he had named it, it would have been enough for you.

حَدَّثَنَا هَنَّادٌ، وَمَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلانَ، قَالا: حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيَرْضَى عَنِ الْعَبْدِ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ الأَكْلَةَ، أَوْ يَشْرَبَ الشَّرْبَةَ فَيَحْمَدَهُ عَلَيْهَا.
Hannad and Mahmud ibn Ghaylan told us: Abu Usamah told us, on the authority of Zakariyya ibn Abi Zaidah, on the authority of Saeed ibn Abi Burdah, on the authority of Anas ibn Malik, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, said: God is pleased with the servant who eats a meal or drinks a drink and praises Him for it.
