Mahmud ibn Ghaylan narrated to us, saying: Abu Dawud narrated to us, on the authority of Shu'bah, on the authority of al-Ash'ath ibn Sulaym, who said: I heard my aunt narrating on the authority of her uncle, who said: While I was walking in Medina, a man behind me said: "Raise your lower garment, for it is more pious and more lasting." Then it was the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. I said: "O Messenger of Allah, it is only a cloak." Malha’ said: “Do you not have an example in me?” So I looked and saw that his loincloth reached halfway down his shins.
