بِسْمِ In (the) name bis'mi
In (the) name
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمِ the Most Merciful l-raḥīmi
the Most Merciful
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
62:1
يُسَبِّحُ Glorifies yusabbiḥu
Glorifies
لِلَّهِ Allah lillahi
Allah
مَا whatever
whatever
فِى (is) in
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَمَا and whatever wamā
and whatever
فِى (is) in
(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
ٱلْمَلِكِ the Sovereign l-maliki
the Sovereign
ٱلْقُدُّوسِ the Holy l-qudūsi
the Holy
ٱلْعَزِيزِ the All-Mighty l-ʿazīzi
the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمِ the All-Wise l-ḥakīmi
the All-Wise
١ (1)
(1)
Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth is exalting Allāh, the Sovereign, the Pure, the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
62:2
هُوَ He huwa
He
ٱلَّذِى (is) the One Who alladhī
(is) the One Who
بَعَثَ sent baʿatha
sent
فِى among
among
ٱلْأُمِّيِّـۧنَ the unlettered l-umiyīna
the unlettered
رَسُولًۭا a Messenger rasūlan
a Messenger
مِّنْهُمْ from themselves min'hum
from themselves
يَتْلُوا۟ reciting yatlū
reciting
عَلَيْهِمْ to them ʿalayhim
to them
ءَايَـٰتِهِۦ His Verses āyātihi
His Verses
وَيُزَكِّيهِمْ and purifying them wayuzakkīhim
and purifying them
وَيُعَلِّمُهُمُ and teaching them wayuʿallimuhumu
and teaching them
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book l-kitāba
the Book
وَٱلْحِكْمَةَ and the wisdom wal-ḥik'mata
and the wisdom
وَإِن although wa-in
although
كَانُوا۟ they were kānū
they were
مِن from min
from
قَبْلُ before qablu
before
لَفِى surely in lafī
surely in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢ an error ḍalālin
an error
مُّبِينٍۢ clear mubīnin
clear
٢ (2)
(2)
It is He who has sent among the unlettered [Arabs] a Messenger from themselves reciting to them His verses and purifying them and teaching them the Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] and wisdom [i.e., the sunnah] - although they were before in clear error -
62:3
وَءَاخَرِينَ And others waākharīna
And others
مِنْهُمْ among them min'hum
among them
لَمَّا who have not yet lammā
who have not yet
يَلْحَقُوا۟ joined yalḥaqū
joined
بِهِمْ ۚ them bihim
them
وَهُوَ and He wahuwa
and He
ٱلْعَزِيزُ (is) the All-Mighty l-ʿazīzu
(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمُ the All-Wise l-ḥakīmu
the All-Wise
٣ (3)
(3)
And [to] others of them who have not yet joined them. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
62:4
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika
That
فَضْلُ (is the) Bounty faḍlu
(is the) Bounty
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
يُؤْتِيهِ He gives it yu'tīhi
He gives it
مَن (to) whom man
(to) whom
يَشَآءُ ۚ He wills yashāu
He wills
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
ذُو (is the) Possessor dhū
(is the) Possessor
ٱلْفَضْلِ (of) Bounty l-faḍli
(of) Bounty
ٱلْعَظِيمِ the Great l-ʿaẓīmi
the Great
٤ (4)
(4)
That is the bounty of Allāh, which He gives to whom He wills, and Allāh is the possessor of great bounty.
62:5
مَثَلُ (The) likeness mathalu
(The) likeness
ٱلَّذِينَ (of) those who alladhīna
(of) those who
حُمِّلُوا۟ were entrusted ḥummilū
were entrusted
ٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ (with) the Taurat l-tawrāta
(with) the Taurat
ثُمَّ then thumma
then
لَمْ not lam
not
يَحْمِلُوهَا they bore it yaḥmilūhā
they bore it
كَمَثَلِ (is) like kamathali
(is) like
ٱلْحِمَارِ the donkey l-ḥimāri
the donkey
يَحْمِلُ who carries yaḥmilu
who carries
أَسْفَارًۢا ۚ books asfāran
books
بِئْسَ Wretched is bi'sa
Wretched is
مَثَلُ (the) example mathalu
(the) example
ٱلْقَوْمِ (of) the people l-qawmi
(of) the people
ٱلَّذِينَ who alladhīna
who
كَذَّبُوا۟ deny kadhabū
deny
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ (the) Signs biāyāti
(the) Signs
ٱللَّهِ ۚ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
لَا (does) not
(does) not
يَهْدِى guide yahdī
guide
ٱلْقَوْمَ the people l-qawma
the people
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ the wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna
the wrongdoers
٥ (5)
(5)
The example of those who were entrusted with the Torah and then did not take it on is like that of a donkey who carries volumes [of books]. Wretched is the example of the people who deny the signs of Allāh. And Allāh does not guide the wrongdoing people.
62:6
قُلْ Say qul
Say
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O yāayyuhā
O
ٱلَّذِينَ you (who) alladhīna
you (who)
هَادُوٓا۟ (are) Jews hādū
(are) Jews
إِن If in
If
زَعَمْتُمْ you claim zaʿamtum
you claim
أَنَّكُمْ that you annakum
that you
أَوْلِيَآءُ (are) allies awliyāu
(are) allies
لِلَّهِ of Allah lillahi
of Allah
مِن from min
from
دُونِ excluding dūni
excluding
ٱلنَّاسِ the people l-nāsi
the people
فَتَمَنَّوُا۟ then wish fatamannawū
then wish
ٱلْمَوْتَ (for) the death l-mawta
(for) the death
إِن if in
if
كُنتُمْ you are kuntum
you are
صَـٰدِقِينَ truthful ṣādiqīna
truthful
٦ (6)
(6)
Say, "O you who are Jews, if you claim that you are allies of Allāh, excluding the [other] people, then wish for death, if you should be truthful."
62:7
وَلَا But not walā
But not
يَتَمَنَّوْنَهُۥٓ they will wish for it yatamannawnahu
they will wish for it
أَبَدًۢا ever abadan
ever
بِمَا for what bimā
for what
قَدَّمَتْ (have) sent forth qaddamat
(have) sent forth
أَيْدِيهِمْ ۚ their hands aydīhim
their hands
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
عَلِيمٌۢ (is) All-Knowing ʿalīmun
(is) All-Knowing
بِٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ of the wrongdoers bil-ẓālimīna
of the wrongdoers
٧ (7)
(7)
But they will not wish for it, ever, because of what their hands have put forth. And Allāh is Knowing of the wrongdoers.
62:8
قُلْ Say qul
Say
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلْمَوْتَ the death l-mawta
the death
ٱلَّذِى which alladhī
which
تَفِرُّونَ you flee tafirrūna
you flee
مِنْهُ from it min'hu
from it
فَإِنَّهُۥ then surely it fa-innahu
then surely it
مُلَـٰقِيكُمْ ۖ (will) meet you mulāqīkum
(will) meet you
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
تُرَدُّونَ you will be sent back turaddūna
you will be sent back
إِلَىٰ to ilā
to
عَـٰلِمِ (the) All-Knower ʿālimi
(the) All-Knower
ٱلْغَيْبِ (of) the unseen l-ghaybi
(of) the unseen
وَٱلشَّهَـٰدَةِ and the witnessed wal-shahādati
and the witnessed
فَيُنَبِّئُكُم and He will inform you fayunabbi-ukum
and He will inform you
بِمَا [of] what bimā
[of] what
كُنتُمْ you used to kuntum
you used to
تَعْمَلُونَ do taʿmalūna
do
٨ (8)
(8)
Say, "Indeed, the death from which you flee - indeed, it will meet you. Then you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you about what you used to do."
62:9
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O yāayyuhā
O
ٱلَّذِينَ (you) who alladhīna
(you) who
ءَامَنُوٓا۟ believe āmanū
believe
إِذَا When idhā
When
نُودِىَ (the) call is made nūdiya
(the) call is made
لِلصَّلَوٰةِ for (the) prayer lilṣṣalati
for (the) prayer
مِن on min
on
يَوْمِ (the) day yawmi
(the) day
ٱلْجُمُعَةِ (of) Friday l-jumuʿati
(of) Friday
فَٱسْعَوْا۟ then hasten fa-is'ʿaw
then hasten
إِلَىٰ to ilā
to
ذِكْرِ (the) remembrance dhik'ri
(the) remembrance
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَذَرُوا۟ and leave wadharū
and leave
ٱلْبَيْعَ ۚ the business l-bayʿa
the business
ذَٰلِكُمْ That dhālikum
That
خَيْرٌۭ (is) better khayrun
(is) better
لَّكُمْ for you lakum
for you
إِن if in
if
كُنتُمْ you kuntum
you
تَعْلَمُونَ know taʿlamūna
know
٩ (9)
(9)
O you who have believed, when [the adhān] is called for the prayer on the day of Jumuʿah [Friday], then proceed to the remembrance of Allāh and leave trade. That is better for you, if you only knew.
62:10
فَإِذَا Then when fa-idhā
Then when
قُضِيَتِ is concluded quḍiyati
is concluded
ٱلصَّلَوٰةُ the prayer l-ṣalatu
the prayer
فَٱنتَشِرُوا۟ then disperse fa-intashirū
then disperse
فِى in
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ the land l-arḍi
the land
وَٱبْتَغُوا۟ and seek wa-ib'taghū
and seek
مِن from min
from
فَضْلِ (the) Bounty faḍli
(the) Bounty
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱذْكُرُوا۟ and remember wa-udh'kurū
and remember
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
كَثِيرًۭا much kathīran
much
لَّعَلَّكُمْ so that you may laʿallakum
so that you may
تُفْلِحُونَ succeed tuf'liḥūna
succeed
١٠ (10)
(10)
And when the prayer has been concluded, disperse within the land and seek from the bounty of Allāh, and remember Allāh often that you may succeed.
62:11
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
رَأَوْا۟ they saw ra-aw
they saw
تِجَـٰرَةً a transaction tijāratan
a transaction
أَوْ or aw
or
لَهْوًا a sport lahwan
a sport
ٱنفَضُّوٓا۟ they rushed infaḍḍū
they rushed
إِلَيْهَا to it ilayhā
to it
وَتَرَكُوكَ and left you watarakūka
and left you
قَآئِمًۭا ۚ standing qāiman
standing
قُلْ Say qul
Say
مَا What
What
عِندَ (is) with ʿinda
(is) with
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
خَيْرٌۭ (is) better khayrun
(is) better
مِّنَ than mina
than
ٱللَّهْوِ the sport l-lahwi
the sport
وَمِنَ and from wamina
and from
ٱلتِّجَـٰرَةِ ۚ (any) transaction l-tijārati
(any) transaction
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
خَيْرُ (is the) Best khayru
(is the) Best
ٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ (of) the Providers l-rāziqīna
(of) the Providers
١١ (11)
(11)
But [on one occasion] when they saw a transaction or a diversion, [O Muḥammad], they rushed to it and left you standing. Say, "What is with Allāh is better than diversion and than a transaction, and Allāh is the best of providers."
