Al-Munafiqun

Medinan 11 Ayahs Juz 28
المنافقون
Bismillah
بِسْمِ In (the) name bis'mi
In (the) name
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمِ the Most Merciful l-raḥīmi
the Most Merciful
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
63:1
إِذَا When idhā
When
جَآءَكَ come to you jāaka
come to you
ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقُونَ the hypocrites l-munāfiqūna
the hypocrites
قَالُوا۟ they say qālū
they say
نَشْهَدُ We testify nashhadu
We testify
إِنَّكَ that you innaka
that you
لَرَسُولُ (are) surely (the) Messenger larasūlu
(are) surely (the) Messenger
ٱللَّهِ ۗ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
يَعْلَمُ knows yaʿlamu
knows
إِنَّكَ that you innaka
that you
لَرَسُولُهُۥ (are) surely His Messenger larasūluhu
(are) surely His Messenger
وَٱللَّهُ and Allah wal-lahu
and Allah
يَشْهَدُ testifies yashhadu
testifies
إِنَّ that inna
that
ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ the hypocrites l-munāfiqīna
the hypocrites
لَكَـٰذِبُونَ (are) surely liars lakādhibūna
(are) surely liars
١ (1)
(1)
When the hypocrites come to you, [O Muḥammad], they say, "We testify that you are the Messenger of Allāh." And Allāh knows that you are His Messenger, and Allāh testifies that the hypocrites are liars.
63:2
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ They take ittakhadhū
They take
أَيْمَـٰنَهُمْ their oaths aymānahum
their oaths
جُنَّةًۭ (as) a cover junnatan
(as) a cover
فَصَدُّوا۟ so they turn away faṣaddū
so they turn away
عَن from ʿan
from
سَبِيلِ (the) Way sabīli
(the) Way
ٱللَّهِ ۚ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
إِنَّهُمْ Indeed, [they] innahum
Indeed, [they]
سَآءَ evil is sāa
evil is
مَا what
what
كَانُوا۟ they used to kānū
they used to
يَعْمَلُونَ do yaʿmalūna
do
٢ (2)
(2)
They have taken their oaths as a cover, so they averted [people] from the way of Allāh. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing.
63:3
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika
That
بِأَنَّهُمْ (is) because bi-annahum
(is) because
ءَامَنُوا۟ they believed āmanū
they believed
ثُمَّ then thumma
then
كَفَرُوا۟ they disbelieved kafarū
they disbelieved
فَطُبِعَ so were sealed faṭubiʿa
so were sealed
عَلَىٰ [upon] ʿalā
[upon]
قُلُوبِهِمْ their hearts qulūbihim
their hearts
فَهُمْ so they fahum
so they
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يَفْقَهُونَ understand yafqahūna
understand
٣ (3)
(3)
That is because they believed, and then they disbelieved; so their hearts were sealed over, and they do not understand.
63:4
۞ وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
رَأَيْتَهُمْ you see them ra-aytahum
you see them
تُعْجِبُكَ pleases you tuʿ'jibuka
pleases you
أَجْسَامُهُمْ ۖ their bodies ajsāmuhum
their bodies
وَإِن and if wa-in
and if
يَقُولُوا۟ they speak yaqūlū
they speak
تَسْمَعْ you listen tasmaʿ
you listen
لِقَوْلِهِمْ ۖ to their speech liqawlihim
to their speech
كَأَنَّهُمْ as if they (were) ka-annahum
as if they (were)
خُشُبٌۭ pieces of wood khushubun
pieces of wood
مُّسَنَّدَةٌۭ ۖ propped up musannadatun
propped up
يَحْسَبُونَ They think yaḥsabūna
They think
كُلَّ every kulla
every
صَيْحَةٍ shout ṣayḥatin
shout
عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ (is) against them ʿalayhim
(is) against them
هُمُ They humu
They
ٱلْعَدُوُّ (are) the enemy l-ʿaduwu
(are) the enemy
فَٱحْذَرْهُمْ ۚ so beware of them fa-iḥ'dharhum
so beware of them
قَـٰتَلَهُمُ May destroy them qātalahumu
May destroy them
ٱللَّهُ ۖ Allah l-lahu
Allah
أَنَّىٰ How annā
How
يُؤْفَكُونَ are they deluded yu'fakūna
are they deluded
٤ (4)
(4)
And when you see them, their forms please you, and if they speak, you listen to their speech. [They are] as if they were pieces of wood propped up - they think that every shout is against them. They are the enemy, so beware of them. May Allāh destroy them; how are they deluded?
63:5
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
قِيلَ it is said qīla
it is said
لَهُمْ to them lahum
to them
تَعَالَوْا۟ Come taʿālaw
Come
يَسْتَغْفِرْ will ask forgiveness yastaghfir
will ask forgiveness
لَكُمْ for you lakum
for you
رَسُولُ (the) Messenger rasūlu
(the) Messenger
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
لَوَّوْا۟ They turn aside lawwaw
They turn aside
رُءُوسَهُمْ their heads ruūsahum
their heads
وَرَأَيْتَهُمْ and you see them wara-aytahum
and you see them
يَصُدُّونَ turning away yaṣuddūna
turning away
وَهُم while they wahum
while they
مُّسْتَكْبِرُونَ (are) arrogant mus'takbirūna
(are) arrogant
٥ (5)
(5)
And when it is said to them, "Come, the Messenger of Allāh will ask forgiveness for you," they turn their heads aside and you see them evading while they are arrogant.
63:6
سَوَآءٌ (It) is same sawāon
(It) is same
عَلَيْهِمْ for them ʿalayhim
for them
أَسْتَغْفَرْتَ whether you ask forgiveness astaghfarta
whether you ask forgiveness
لَهُمْ for them lahum
for them
أَمْ or am
or
لَمْ (do) not lam
(do) not
تَسْتَغْفِرْ ask forgiveness tastaghfir
ask forgiveness
لَهُمْ for them lahum
for them
لَن Never lan
Never
يَغْفِرَ will forgive yaghfira
will forgive
ٱللَّهُ Allah l-lahu
Allah
لَهُمْ ۚ [to] them lahum
[to] them
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
لَا (does) not
(does) not
يَهْدِى guide yahdī
guide
ٱلْقَوْمَ the people l-qawma
the people
ٱلْفَـٰسِقِينَ the defiantly disobedient l-fāsiqīna
the defiantly disobedient
٦ (6)
(6)
It is all the same for them whether you ask forgiveness for them or do not ask forgiveness for them; never will Allāh forgive them. Indeed, Allāh does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.
63:7
هُمُ They humu
They
ٱلَّذِينَ (are) those who alladhīna
(are) those who
يَقُولُونَ say yaqūlūna
say
لَا (Do) not
(Do) not
تُنفِقُوا۟ spend tunfiqū
spend
عَلَىٰ on ʿalā
on
مَنْ (those) who man
(those) who
عِندَ (are) with ʿinda
(are) with
رَسُولِ (the) Messenger rasūli
(the) Messenger
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
حَتَّىٰ until ḥattā
until
يَنفَضُّوا۟ ۗ they disband yanfaḍḍū
they disband
وَلِلَّهِ And for Allah walillahi
And for Allah
خَزَآئِنُ (are the) treasures khazāinu
(are the) treasures
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَلَـٰكِنَّ but walākinna
but
ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ the hypocrites l-munāfiqīna
the hypocrites
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يَفْقَهُونَ understand yafqahūna
understand
٧ (7)
(7)
They are the ones who say, "Do not spend on those who are with the Messenger of Allāh until they disband." And to Allāh belong the depositories of the heavens and the earth, but the hypocrites do not understand.
63:8
يَقُولُونَ They say yaqūlūna
They say
لَئِن If la-in
If
رَّجَعْنَآ we return rajaʿnā
we return
إِلَى to ilā
to
ٱلْمَدِينَةِ Al-Madinah l-madīnati
Al-Madinah
لَيُخْرِجَنَّ surely, will expel layukh'rijanna
surely, will expel
ٱلْأَعَزُّ the more honorable l-aʿazu
the more honorable
مِنْهَا from it min'hā
from it
ٱلْأَذَلَّ ۚ the more humble l-adhala
the more humble
وَلِلَّهِ But for Allah walillahi
But for Allah
ٱلْعِزَّةُ (is) the honor l-ʿizatu
(is) the honor
وَلِرَسُولِهِۦ and for His Messenger walirasūlihi
and for His Messenger
وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ and for the believers walil'mu'minīna
and for the believers
وَلَـٰكِنَّ but walākinna
but
ٱلْمُنَـٰفِقِينَ the hypocrites l-munāfiqīna
the hypocrites
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ know yaʿlamūna
know
٨ (8)
(8)
They say, "If we return to al-Madīnah, the more honored [for power] will surely expel therefrom the more humble." And to Allāh belongs [all] honor, and to His Messenger, and to the believers, but the hypocrites do not know.
63:9
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O yāayyuhā
O
ٱلَّذِينَ you (who) alladhīna
you (who)
ءَامَنُوا۟ believe āmanū
believe
لَا (Let) not
(Let) not
تُلْهِكُمْ divert you tul'hikum
divert you
أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ your wealth amwālukum
your wealth
وَلَآ and not walā
and not
أَوْلَـٰدُكُمْ your children awlādukum
your children
عَن from ʿan
from
ذِكْرِ (the) remembrance dhik'ri
(the) remembrance
ٱللَّهِ ۚ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَمَن And whoever waman
And whoever
يَفْعَلْ does yafʿal
does
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ then those fa-ulāika
then those
هُمُ [they] humu
[they]
ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ (are) the losers l-khāsirūna
(are) the losers
٩ (9)
(9)
O you who have believed, let not your wealth and your children divert you from the remembrance of Allāh. And whoever does that - then those are the losers.
63:10
وَأَنفِقُوا۟ And spend wa-anfiqū
And spend
مِن from min
from
مَّا what
what
رَزَقْنَـٰكُم We have provided you razaqnākum
We have provided you
مِّن from min
from
قَبْلِ before qabli
before
أَن [that] an
[that]
يَأْتِىَ comes yatiya
comes
أَحَدَكُمُ (to) one of you aḥadakumu
(to) one of you
ٱلْمَوْتُ the death l-mawtu
the death
فَيَقُولَ and he says fayaqūla
and he says
رَبِّ My Lord rabbi
My Lord
لَوْلَآ Why not lawlā
Why not
أَخَّرْتَنِىٓ You delay me akhartanī
You delay me
إِلَىٰٓ for ilā
for
أَجَلٍۢ a term ajalin
a term
قَرِيبٍۢ near qarībin
near
فَأَصَّدَّقَ so I would give charity fa-aṣṣaddaqa
so I would give charity
وَأَكُن and be wa-akun
and be
مِّنَ among mina
among
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ the righteous l-ṣāliḥīna
the righteous
١٠ (10)
(10)
And spend [in the way of Allāh] from what We have provided you before death approaches one of you and he says, "My Lord, if only You would delay me for a brief term so I would give charity and be of the righteous."
63:11
وَلَن But never walan
But never
يُؤَخِّرَ will (be) delayed yu-akhira
will (be) delayed
ٱللَّهُ (by) Allah l-lahu
(by) Allah
نَفْسًا a soul nafsan
a soul
إِذَا when idhā
when
جَآءَ has come jāa
has come
أَجَلُهَا ۚ its term ajaluhā
its term
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
خَبِيرٌۢ (is) All-Aware khabīrun
(is) All-Aware
بِمَا of what bimā
of what
تَعْمَلُونَ you do taʿmalūna
you do
١١ (11)
(11)
But never will Allāh delay a soul when its time has come. And Allāh is Aware of what you do.
