Ahmad ibn Mani’ told us, saying: Yazid ibn Harun told us, on the authority of Hammad ibn Salamah, who said: I saw Ibn Abi Rafi’ wearing a ring on his right hand, so I asked him about it, and he said: I saw Abdullah ibn Ja’far wearing a ring on his right hand, and Abdullah ibn Ja’far said: “The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to wear a ring on his right hand.”

Yahya ibn Musa told us, saying: Abdullah ibn Numayr told us, saying: Ibrahim ibn al-Fadl told us, on the authority of Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil, on the authority of Abdullah ibn Ja’far, that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to wear his ring on his right hand.

Abu al-Khattab Ziyad ibn Yahya told us: Abdullah ibn Maymun told us, on the authority of Ja`far ibn Muhammad, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Jabir ibn Abdullah: that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to wear his ring on his right hand.

Muhammad ibn Humayd al-Razi told us, saying: Jarir told us, on the authority of Muhammad ibn Ishaq, on the authority of al-Salt ibn Abdullah, who said: Ibn Abbas used to wear his ring on his right hand, and I think he said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to wear his ring on his right hand.

Muhammad ibn Abi Umar told us: Sufyan told us, on the authority of Ayyub ibn Musa, on the authority of Nafi, on the authority of Ibn Umar: that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, made a ring of silver, and he made its stone towards his palm, and he engraved on it Muhammad, the Messenger of God, and he forbade anyone from engraving on it, and it is the one that fell from Mu’ayqib into the well of Aris.

Qutaybah ibn Saeed told us, Hatim ibn Ismail told us, on the authority of Ja`far ibn Muhammad, on the authority of his father, who said: Al-Hasan and Al-Husayn used to wear their rings on their left hands.

Abdullah ibn Abdur-Rahman narrated to us, saying: Muhammad ibn Isa, also known as Ibn At-Tabba’, narrated to us, saying: Abbad ibn Al-Awwam narrated to us, on the authority of Sa’id ibn Abi Arubah, on the authority of Qatadah, on the authority of Anas ibn Malik, that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to wear his ring on his right hand. Abu Isa said: This is a strange hadith; we do not know of any hadith from Sa’id ibn Abi Arubah, on the authority of Qatadah, on the authority of Anas, on the authority of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that is similar to this, except through this chain of narration. Some of Qatadah’s companions narrated on the authority of Qatadah, on the authority of Anas bin Malik, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, that he used to wear his ring on his left hand. This hadith is also not authentic.

Muhammad ibn Ubayd Allah al-Muharibi told us: Abd al-Aziz ibn Abi Hazim told us, on the authority of Musa ibn Uqba, on the authority of Nafi, on the authority of Ibn Umar, who said: The Messenger of Allah, may God bless him and grant him peace, acquired a ring of gold, and he used to wear it on his right hand. So the people acquired rings of gold, so he, may God bless him and grant him peace, threw it away and said: I will never wear it again. So the people threw away their rings.
