Al-Husayn ibn Ali ibn Yazid al-Suda’i al-Baghdadi narrated to us, saying: Ya’qub ibn Ishaq, meaning al-Hadrami, narrated to us, saying: Shu’bah narrated to us, on the authority of Sufyan al-Thawri, on the authority of Ali ibn al-Aqmar, on the authority of Abu Juhayfah, who said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “As for me, I do not eat while reclining.” Muhammad ibn Bashar narrated to us, saying: ‘Abd Al-Rahman ibn Mahdi said: Sufyan told us, on the authority of Ali ibn al-Aqmar, something similar.

Harun ibn Ishaq al-Hamdani told us: Abda ibn Sulayman told us, on the authority of Hisham ibn Urwa, on the authority of Ibn Ka’b ibn Malik, on the authority of his father, who said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, used to eat with his three fingers and lick them.

Ahmad ibn Mani’ told us, saying: Al-Fadl ibn Dukayn told us, saying: Mus’ab ibn Sulaym told us, saying: I heard Anas ibn Malik say: Dates were brought to the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, and I saw him eating them while he was squatting from hunger.
