بِسْمِ In (the) name bis'mi
In (the) name
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمِ the Most Merciful l-raḥīmi
the Most Merciful
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
١٧:١
سُبْحَـٰنَ Exalted sub'ḥāna
Exalted
ٱلَّذِىٓ (is) the One Who alladhī
(is) the One Who
أَسْرَىٰ took asrā
took
بِعَبْدِهِۦ His servant biʿabdihi
His servant
لَيْلًۭا (by) night laylan
(by) night
مِّنَ from mina
from
ٱلْمَسْجِدِ Al-Masjid Al-Haraam l-masjidi
Al-Masjid Al-Haraam
ٱلْحَرَامِ Al-Masjid Al-Haraam l-ḥarāmi
Al-Masjid Al-Haraam
إِلَى to ilā
to
ٱلْمَسْجِدِ Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa l-masjidi
Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa
ٱلْأَقْصَا Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa l-aqṣā
Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa
ٱلَّذِى which alladhī
which
بَـٰرَكْنَا We blessed bāraknā
We blessed
حَوْلَهُۥ its surroundings ḥawlahu
its surroundings
لِنُرِيَهُۥ that We may show him linuriyahu
that We may show him
مِنْ of min
of
ءَايَـٰتِنَآ ۚ Our Signs āyātinā
Our Signs
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed He innahu
Indeed He
هُوَ He huwa
He
ٱلسَّمِيعُ (is) the All-Hearer l-samīʿu
(is) the All-Hearer
ٱلْبَصِيرُ the All-Seer l-baṣīru
the All-Seer
١ (1)
(1)
Exalted is He who took His Servant [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)] by night from al-Masjid al-Ḥarām to al-Masjid al-Aqṣā, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing.
١٧:٢
وَءَاتَيْنَا And We gave waātaynā
And We gave
مُوسَى Musa mūsā
Musa
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book l-kitāba
the Book
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ and made it wajaʿalnāhu
and made it
هُدًۭى a guidance hudan
a guidance
لِّبَنِىٓ for the Children libanī
for the Children
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ (of) Israel is'rāīla
(of) Israel
أَلَّا That not allā
That not
تَتَّخِذُوا۟ you take tattakhidhū
you take
مِن other than Me min
other than Me
دُونِى other than Me dūnī
other than Me
وَكِيلًۭا (as) a Disposer of affairs wakīlan
(as) a Disposer of affairs
٢ (2)
(2)
And We gave Moses the Scripture and made it a guidance for the Children of Israel that you not take other than Me as Disposer of affairs,
١٧:٣
ذُرِّيَّةَ Offsprings dhurriyyata
Offsprings
مَنْ (of one) who man
(of one) who
حَمَلْنَا We carried ḥamalnā
We carried
مَعَ with maʿa
with
نُوحٍ ۚ Nuh nūḥin
Nuh
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he innahu
Indeed, he
كَانَ was kāna
was
عَبْدًۭا a servant ʿabdan
a servant
شَكُورًۭا grateful shakūran
grateful
٣ (3)
(3)
O descendants of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah. Indeed, he was a grateful servant.
١٧:٤
وَقَضَيْنَآ And We decreed waqaḍaynā
And We decreed
إِلَىٰ for ilā
for
بَنِىٓ (the) Children banī
(the) Children
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ (of) Israel is'rāīla
(of) Israel
فِى in
in
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ the Book l-kitābi
the Book
لَتُفْسِدُنَّ Surely you will cause corruption latuf'sidunna
Surely you will cause corruption
فِى in
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
مَرَّتَيْنِ twice marratayni
twice
وَلَتَعْلُنَّ and surely you will reach walataʿlunna
and surely you will reach
عُلُوًّۭا haughtiness ʿuluwwan
haughtiness
كَبِيرًۭا great kabīran
great
٤ (4)
(4)
And We conveyed to the Children of Israel in the Scripture that, "You will surely cause corruption on the earth twice, and you will surely reach [a degree of] great haughtiness."
١٧:٥
فَإِذَا So when fa-idhā
So when
جَآءَ came jāa
came
وَعْدُ (the) promise waʿdu
(the) promise
أُولَىٰهُمَا (for) the first of the two ūlāhumā
(for) the first of the two
بَعَثْنَا We raised baʿathnā
We raised
عَلَيْكُمْ against you ʿalaykum
against you
عِبَادًۭا servants ʿibādan
servants
لَّنَآ of Ours lanā
of Ours
أُو۟لِى those of great military might ulī
those of great military might
بَأْسٍۢ those of great military might basin
those of great military might
شَدِيدٍۢ those of great military might shadīdin
those of great military might
فَجَاسُوا۟ and they entered fajāsū
and they entered
خِلَـٰلَ the inner most part khilāla
the inner most part
ٱلدِّيَارِ ۚ (of) the homes l-diyāri
(of) the homes
وَكَانَ and (it) was wakāna
and (it) was
وَعْدًۭا a promise waʿdan
a promise
مَّفْعُولًۭا fulfilled mafʿūlan
fulfilled
٥ (5)
(5)
So when the [time of] promise came for the first of them, We sent against you servants of Ours - those of great military might, and they probed [even] into the homes, and it was a promise fulfilled.
١٧:٦
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
رَدَدْنَا We gave back radadnā
We gave back
لَكُمُ to you lakumu
to you
ٱلْكَرَّةَ the return victory l-karata
the return victory
عَلَيْهِمْ over them ʿalayhim
over them
وَأَمْدَدْنَـٰكُم And We reinforced you wa-amdadnākum
And We reinforced you
بِأَمْوَٰلٍۢ with the wealth bi-amwālin
with the wealth
وَبَنِينَ and sons wabanīna
and sons
وَجَعَلْنَـٰكُمْ and made you wajaʿalnākum
and made you
أَكْثَرَ more akthara
more
نَفِيرًا numerous nafīran
numerous
٦ (6)
(6)
Then We gave back to you a return victory over them. And We reinforced you with wealth and sons and made you more numerous in manpower.
١٧:٧
إِنْ If in
If
أَحْسَنتُمْ you do good aḥsantum
you do good
أَحْسَنتُمْ you do good aḥsantum
you do good
لِأَنفُسِكُمْ ۖ for yourselves li-anfusikum
for yourselves
وَإِنْ and if wa-in
and if
أَسَأْتُمْ you do evil asatum
you do evil
فَلَهَا ۚ then it is for it falahā
then it is for it
فَإِذَا So when fa-idhā
So when
جَآءَ came jāa
came
وَعْدُ promise waʿdu
promise
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ the last l-ākhirati
the last
لِيَسُـۥٓـُٔوا۟ to sadden liyasūū
to sadden
وُجُوهَكُمْ your faces wujūhakum
your faces
وَلِيَدْخُلُوا۟ and to enter waliyadkhulū
and to enter
ٱلْمَسْجِدَ the Masjid l-masjida
the Masjid
كَمَا just as kamā
just as
دَخَلُوهُ they (had) entered it dakhalūhu
they (had) entered it
أَوَّلَ first awwala
first
مَرَّةٍۢ time marratin
time
وَلِيُتَبِّرُوا۟ and to destroy waliyutabbirū
and to destroy
مَا what
what
عَلَوْا۟ they had conquered ʿalaw
they had conquered
تَتْبِيرًا (with) destruction tatbīran
(with) destruction
٧ (7)
(7)
[And said], "If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, [you do it] to them [i.e., yourselves]." Then when the final [i.e., second] promise came, [We sent your enemies] to sadden your faces and to enter the masjid [i.e., the temple in Jerusalem], as they entered it the first time, and to destroy what they had taken over with [total] destruction.
١٧:٨
عَسَىٰ (It) may be ʿasā
(It) may be
رَبُّكُمْ that your Lord rabbukum
that your Lord
أَن that your Lord an
that your Lord
يَرْحَمَكُمْ ۚ (may) have mercy upon you yarḥamakum
(may) have mercy upon you
وَإِنْ But if wa-in
But if
عُدتُّمْ you return ʿudttum
you return
عُدْنَا ۘ We will return ʿud'nā
We will return
وَجَعَلْنَا And We have made wajaʿalnā
And We have made
جَهَنَّمَ Hell jahannama
Hell
لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ for the disbelievers lil'kāfirīna
for the disbelievers
حَصِيرًا a prison-bed ḥaṣīran
a prison-bed
٨ (8)
(8)
[Then Allāh said], "It is expected, [if you repent], that your Lord will have mercy upon you. But if you return [to sin], We will return [to punishment]. And We have made Hell, for the disbelievers, a prison-bed."
١٧:٩
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ the Quran l-qur'āna
the Quran
يَهْدِى guides yahdī
guides
لِلَّتِى to that lillatī
to that
هِىَ which hiya
which
أَقْوَمُ (is) most straight aqwamu
(is) most straight
وَيُبَشِّرُ and gives glad tidings wayubashiru
and gives glad tidings
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ to the believers l-mu'minīna
to the believers
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
يَعْمَلُونَ do yaʿmalūna
do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ the righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti
the righteous deeds
أَنَّ that anna
that
لَهُمْ for them lahum
for them
أَجْرًۭا (is) a reward ajran
(is) a reward
كَبِيرًۭا great kabīran
great
٩ (9)
(9)
Indeed, this Qur’ān guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward
١٧:١٠
وَأَنَّ And that wa-anna
And that
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ believe yu'minūna
believe
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ in the Hereafter bil-ākhirati
in the Hereafter
أَعْتَدْنَا We have prepared aʿtadnā
We have prepared
لَهُمْ for them lahum
for them
عَذَابًا a punishment ʿadhāban
a punishment
أَلِيمًۭا painful alīman
painful
١٠ (10)
(10)
And that those who do not believe in the Hereafter - We have prepared for them a painful punishment.
١٧:١١
وَيَدْعُ And prays wayadʿu
And prays
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ the man l-insānu
the man
بِٱلشَّرِّ for evil bil-shari
for evil
دُعَآءَهُۥ (as) he prays duʿāahu
(as) he prays
بِٱلْخَيْرِ ۖ for the good bil-khayri
for the good
وَكَانَ And is wakāna
And is
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ the man l-insānu
the man
عَجُولًۭا ever hasty ʿajūlan
ever hasty
١١ (11)
(11)
And man supplicates for evil [when angry] as he supplicates for good, and man is ever hasty.
١٧:١٢
وَجَعَلْنَا And We have made wajaʿalnā
And We have made
ٱلَّيْلَ the night al-layla
the night
وَٱلنَّهَارَ and the day wal-nahāra
and the day
ءَايَتَيْنِ ۖ (as) two signs āyatayni
(as) two signs
فَمَحَوْنَآ Then We erased famaḥawnā
Then We erased
ءَايَةَ (the) sign āyata
(the) sign
ٱلَّيْلِ (of) the night al-layli
(of) the night
وَجَعَلْنَآ and We made wajaʿalnā
and We made
ءَايَةَ (the) sign āyata
(the) sign
ٱلنَّهَارِ (of) the day l-nahāri
(of) the day
مُبْصِرَةًۭ visible mub'ṣiratan
visible
لِّتَبْتَغُوا۟ that you may seek litabtaghū
that you may seek
فَضْلًۭا bounty faḍlan
bounty
مِّن from min
from
رَّبِّكُمْ your Lord rabbikum
your Lord
وَلِتَعْلَمُوا۟ and that you may know walitaʿlamū
and that you may know
عَدَدَ (the) number ʿadada
(the) number
ٱلسِّنِينَ (of) the years l-sinīna
(of) the years
وَٱلْحِسَابَ ۚ and the account wal-ḥisāba
and the account
وَكُلَّ And every wakulla
And every
شَىْءٍۢ thing shayin
thing
فَصَّلْنَـٰهُ We have explained it faṣṣalnāhu
We have explained it
تَفْصِيلًۭا (in) detail tafṣīlan
(in) detail
١٢ (12)
(12)
And We have made the night and day two signs, and We erased the sign of the night and made the sign of the day visible that you may seek bounty from your Lord and may know the number of years and the account [of time]. And everything We have set out in detail.
١٧:١٣
وَكُلَّ And (for) every wakulla
And (for) every
إِنسَـٰنٍ man insānin
man
أَلْزَمْنَـٰهُ We have fastened to him alzamnāhu
We have fastened to him
طَـٰٓئِرَهُۥ his fate ṭāirahu
his fate
فِى in
in
عُنُقِهِۦ ۖ his neck ʿunuqihi
his neck
وَنُخْرِجُ and We will bring forth wanukh'riju
and We will bring forth
لَهُۥ for him lahu
for him
يَوْمَ (on the) Day yawma
(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
كِتَـٰبًۭا a record kitāban
a record
يَلْقَىٰهُ which he will find yalqāhu
which he will find
مَنشُورًا wide open manshūran
wide open
١٣ (13)
(13)
And [for] every person We have imposed his fate upon his neck, and We will produce for him on the Day of Resurrection a record which he will encounter spread open.
١٧:١٤
ٱقْرَأْ Read iq'ra
Read
كِتَـٰبَكَ your record kitābaka
your record
كَفَىٰ Sufficient kafā
Sufficient
بِنَفْسِكَ (is) yourself binafsika
(is) yourself
ٱلْيَوْمَ today l-yawma
today
عَلَيْكَ against you ʿalayka
against you
حَسِيبًۭا (as) accountant ḥasīban
(as) accountant
١٤ (14)
(14)
[It will be said], "Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant."
١٧:١٥
مَّنِ Whoever mani
Whoever
ٱهْتَدَىٰ (is) guided ih'tadā
(is) guided
فَإِنَّمَا then only fa-innamā
then only
يَهْتَدِى he is guided yahtadī
he is guided
لِنَفْسِهِۦ ۖ for his soul linafsihi
for his soul
وَمَن And whoever waman
And whoever
ضَلَّ goes astray ḍalla
goes astray
فَإِنَّمَا then only fa-innamā
then only
يَضِلُّ he goes astray yaḍillu
he goes astray
عَلَيْهَا ۚ against it ʿalayhā
against it
وَلَا And not walā
And not
تَزِرُ will bear taziru
will bear
وَازِرَةٌۭ a bearer of burden wāziratun
a bearer of burden
وِزْرَ burden wiz'ra
burden
أُخْرَىٰ ۗ (of) another ukh'rā
(of) another
وَمَا And not wamā
And not
كُنَّا We kunnā
We
مُعَذِّبِينَ are to punish muʿadhibīna
are to punish
حَتَّىٰ until ḥattā
until
نَبْعَثَ We have sent nabʿatha
We have sent
رَسُولًۭا a Messenger rasūlan
a Messenger
١٥ (15)
(15)
Whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul. And whoever errs only errs against it. And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And never would We punish until We sent a messenger.
١٧:١٦
وَإِذَآ And when wa-idhā
And when
أَرَدْنَآ We intend aradnā
We intend
أَن that an
that
نُّهْلِكَ We destroy nuh'lika
We destroy
قَرْيَةً a town qaryatan
a town
أَمَرْنَا We order amarnā
We order
مُتْرَفِيهَا its wealthy people mut'rafīhā
its wealthy people
فَفَسَقُوا۟ but they defiantly disobey fafasaqū
but they defiantly disobey
فِيهَا therein fīhā
therein
فَحَقَّ so (is) proved true faḥaqqa
so (is) proved true
عَلَيْهَا against it ʿalayhā
against it
ٱلْقَوْلُ the word l-qawlu
the word
فَدَمَّرْنَـٰهَا and We destroy it fadammarnāhā
and We destroy it
تَدْمِيرًۭا (with) destruction tadmīran
(with) destruction
١٦ (16)
(16)
And when We intend to destroy a city, We command its affluent but they defiantly disobey therein; so the word [i.e., deserved decree] comes into effect upon it, and We destroy it with [complete] destruction.
١٧:١٧
وَكَمْ And how many wakam
And how many
أَهْلَكْنَا We destroyed ahlaknā
We destroyed
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلْقُرُونِ the generations l-qurūni
the generations
مِنۢ after min
after
بَعْدِ after baʿdi
after
نُوحٍۢ ۗ Nuh nūḥin
Nuh
وَكَفَىٰ And sufficient wakafā
And sufficient
بِرَبِّكَ (is) your Lord birabbika
(is) your Lord
بِذُنُوبِ concerning the sins bidhunūbi
concerning the sins
عِبَادِهِۦ (of) His servants ʿibādihi
(of) His servants
خَبِيرًۢا All-Aware khabīran
All-Aware
بَصِيرًۭا All-Seer baṣīran
All-Seer
١٧ (17)
(17)
And how many have We destroyed from the generations after Noah. And sufficient is your Lord, concerning the sins of His servants, as Aware and Seeing.
١٧:١٨
مَّن Whoever man
Whoever
كَانَ should kāna
should
يُرِيدُ desire yurīdu
desire
ٱلْعَاجِلَةَ the immediate l-ʿājilata
the immediate
عَجَّلْنَا We hasten ʿajjalnā
We hasten
لَهُۥ for him lahu
for him
فِيهَا in it fīhā
in it
مَا what
what
نَشَآءُ We will nashāu
We will
لِمَن to whom liman
to whom
نُّرِيدُ We intend nurīdu
We intend
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
جَعَلْنَا We have made jaʿalnā
We have made
لَهُۥ for him lahu
for him
جَهَنَّمَ Hell jahannama
Hell
يَصْلَىٰهَا he will burn yaṣlāhā
he will burn
مَذْمُومًۭا disgraced madhmūman
disgraced
مَّدْحُورًۭا rejected madḥūran
rejected
١٨ (18)
(18)
Whoever should desire the immediate - We hasten for him from it what We will to whom We intend. Then We have made for him Hell, which he will [enter to] burn, censured and banished.
١٧:١٩
وَمَنْ And whoever waman
And whoever
أَرَادَ desires arāda
desires
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ the Hereafter l-ākhirata
the Hereafter
وَسَعَىٰ and exerts wasaʿā
and exerts
لَهَا for it lahā
for it
سَعْيَهَا the effort saʿyahā
the effort
وَهُوَ while he wahuwa
while he
مُؤْمِنٌۭ (is) a believer mu'minun
(is) a believer
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ then those fa-ulāika
then those
كَانَ [are] kāna
[are]
سَعْيُهُم their effort saʿyuhum
their effort
مَّشْكُورًۭا (is) appreciated mashkūran
(is) appreciated
١٩ (19)
(19)
But whoever desires the Hereafter and exerts the effort due to it while he is a believer - it is those whose effort is ever appreciated [by Allāh].
١٧:٢٠
كُلًّۭا (To) each kullan
(To) each
نُّمِدُّ We extend numiddu
We extend
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ (to) these hāulāi
(to) these
وَهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ and (to) these wahāulāi
and (to) these
مِنْ from min
from
عَطَآءِ (the) gift ʿaṭāi
(the) gift
رَبِّكَ ۚ (of) your Lord rabbika
(of) your Lord
وَمَا And not wamā
And not
كَانَ is kāna
is
عَطَآءُ (the) gift ʿaṭāu
(the) gift
رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord rabbika
(of) your Lord
مَحْظُورًا restricted maḥẓūran
restricted
٢٠ (20)
(20)
To each [category] We extend - to these and to those - from the gift of your Lord. And never has the gift of your Lord been restricted.
١٧:٢١
ٱنظُرْ See unẓur
See
كَيْفَ how kayfa
how
فَضَّلْنَا We preferred faḍḍalnā
We preferred
بَعْضَهُمْ some of them baʿḍahum
some of them
عَلَىٰ over ʿalā
over
بَعْضٍۢ ۚ others baʿḍin
others
وَلَلْـَٔاخِرَةُ And surely the Hereafter walalākhiratu
And surely the Hereafter
أَكْبَرُ (is) greater akbaru
(is) greater
دَرَجَـٰتٍۢ (in) degrees darajātin
(in) degrees
وَأَكْبَرُ and greater wa-akbaru
and greater
تَفْضِيلًۭا (in) excellence tafḍīlan
(in) excellence
٢١ (21)
(21)
Look how We have favored [in provision] some of them over others. But the Hereafter is greater in degrees [of difference] and greater in distinction.
١٧:٢٢
لَّا (Do) not
(Do) not
تَجْعَلْ make tajʿal
make
مَعَ with maʿa
with
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
إِلَـٰهًا god ilāhan
god
ءَاخَرَ another ākhara
another
فَتَقْعُدَ lest you will sit fataqʿuda
lest you will sit
مَذْمُومًۭا disgraced madhmūman
disgraced
مَّخْذُولًۭا forsaken makhdhūlan
forsaken
٢٢ (22)
(22)
Do not make [as equal] with Allāh another deity and [thereby] become censured and forsaken.
١٧:٢٣
۞ وَقَضَىٰ And has decreed waqaḍā
And has decreed
رَبُّكَ your Lord rabbuka
your Lord
أَلَّا that (do) not allā
that (do) not
تَعْبُدُوٓا۟ worship taʿbudū
worship
إِلَّآ except illā
except
إِيَّاهُ Him Alone iyyāhu
Him Alone
وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ and to the parents wabil-wālidayni
and to the parents
إِحْسَـٰنًا ۚ (be) good iḥ'sānan
(be) good
إِمَّا Whether immā
Whether
يَبْلُغَنَّ reach yablughanna
reach
عِندَكَ with you ʿindaka
with you
ٱلْكِبَرَ the old age l-kibara
the old age
أَحَدُهُمَآ one of them aḥaduhumā
one of them
أَوْ or aw
or
كِلَاهُمَا both of them kilāhumā
both of them
فَلَا then (do) not falā
then (do) not
تَقُل say taqul
say
لَّهُمَآ to both of them lahumā
to both of them
أُفٍّۢ a word of disrespect uffin
a word of disrespect
وَلَا and (do) not walā
and (do) not
تَنْهَرْهُمَا repel them tanharhumā
repel them
وَقُل but speak waqul
but speak
لَّهُمَا to them lahumā
to them
قَوْلًۭا a word qawlan
a word
كَرِيمًۭا noble karīman
noble
٢٣ (23)
(23)
And your Lord has decreed that you worship not except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff,"1 and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.
١٧:٢٤
وَٱخْفِضْ And lower wa-ikh'fiḍ
And lower
لَهُمَا to them lahumā
to them
جَنَاحَ (the) wing janāḥa
(the) wing
ٱلذُّلِّ (of) humility l-dhuli
(of) humility
مِنَ (out) of mina
(out) of
ٱلرَّحْمَةِ [the] mercy l-raḥmati
[the] mercy
وَقُل and say waqul
and say
رَّبِّ My Lord rabbi
My Lord
ٱرْحَمْهُمَا Have mercy on both of them ir'ḥamhumā
Have mercy on both of them
كَمَا as kamā
as
رَبَّيَانِى they brought me up rabbayānī
they brought me up
صَغِيرًۭا (when I was) small ṣaghīran
(when I was) small
٢٤ (24)
(24)
And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small."
١٧:٢٥
رَّبُّكُمْ Your Lord rabbukum
Your Lord
أَعْلَمُ (is) most knowing aʿlamu
(is) most knowing
بِمَا of what bimā
of what
فِى (is) in
(is) in
نُفُوسِكُمْ ۚ yourselves nufūsikum
yourselves
إِن If in
If
تَكُونُوا۟ you are takūnū
you are
صَـٰلِحِينَ righteous ṣāliḥīna
righteous
فَإِنَّهُۥ then indeed, He fa-innahu
then indeed, He
كَانَ is kāna
is
لِلْأَوَّٰبِينَ to those who often turn (to Him) lil'awwābīna
to those who often turn (to Him)
غَفُورًۭا Most Forgiving ghafūran
Most Forgiving
٢٥ (25)
(25)
Your Lord is most knowing of what is within yourselves. If you should be righteous [in intention] - then indeed He is ever, to the often returning [to Him], Forgiving.
١٧:٢٦
وَءَاتِ And give waāti
And give
ذَا the relatives dhā
the relatives
ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ the relatives l-qur'bā
the relatives
حَقَّهُۥ his right ḥaqqahu
his right
وَٱلْمِسْكِينَ and the needy wal-mis'kīna
and the needy
وَٱبْنَ and the wayfarer wa-ib'na
and the wayfarer
ٱلسَّبِيلِ and the wayfarer l-sabīli
and the wayfarer
وَلَا and (do) not walā
and (do) not
تُبَذِّرْ spend tubadhir
spend
تَبْذِيرًا wastefully tabdhīran
wastefully
٢٦ (26)
(26)
And give the relative his right, and [also] the poor and the traveler, and do not spend wastefully.
١٧:٢٧
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلْمُبَذِّرِينَ the spendthrifts l-mubadhirīna
the spendthrifts
كَانُوٓا۟ are kānū
are
إِخْوَٰنَ brothers ikh'wāna
brothers
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ ۖ (of) the devils l-shayāṭīni
(of) the devils
وَكَانَ And is wakāna
And is
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ the Shaitaan l-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan
لِرَبِّهِۦ to his Lord lirabbihi
to his Lord
كَفُورًۭا ungrateful kafūran
ungrateful
٢٧ (27)
(27)
Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful.
١٧:٢٨
وَإِمَّا And if wa-immā
And if
تُعْرِضَنَّ you turn away tuʿ'riḍanna
you turn away
عَنْهُمُ from them ʿanhumu
from them
ٱبْتِغَآءَ seeking ib'tighāa
seeking
رَحْمَةٍۢ mercy raḥmatin
mercy
مِّن from min
from
رَّبِّكَ your Lord rabbika
your Lord
تَرْجُوهَا which you expect tarjūhā
which you expect
فَقُل then say faqul
then say
لَّهُمْ to them lahum
to them
قَوْلًۭا a word qawlan
a word
مَّيْسُورًۭا gentle maysūran
gentle
٢٨ (28)
(28)
And if you [must] turn away from them [i.e., the needy] awaiting mercy from your Lord which you expect, then speak to them a gentle word.
١٧:٢٩
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَجْعَلْ make tajʿal
make
يَدَكَ your hand yadaka
your hand
مَغْلُولَةً chained maghlūlatan
chained
إِلَىٰ to ilā
to
عُنُقِكَ your neck ʿunuqika
your neck
وَلَا and not walā
and not
تَبْسُطْهَا extend it tabsuṭ'hā
extend it
كُلَّ (to its) utmost kulla
(to its) utmost
ٱلْبَسْطِ reach l-basṭi
reach
فَتَقْعُدَ so that you sit fataqʿuda
so that you sit
مَلُومًۭا blameworthy malūman
blameworthy
مَّحْسُورًا insolvent maḥsūran
insolvent
٢٩ (29)
(29)
And do not make your hand [as] chained to your neck or extend it completely and [thereby] become blamed and insolvent.
١٧:٣٠
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
رَبَّكَ your Lord rabbaka
your Lord
يَبْسُطُ extends yabsuṭu
extends
ٱلرِّزْقَ the provision l-riz'qa
the provision
لِمَن for whom liman
for whom
يَشَآءُ He wills yashāu
He wills
وَيَقْدِرُ ۚ and straitens wayaqdiru
and straitens
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, He innahu
Indeed, He
كَانَ is kāna
is
بِعِبَادِهِۦ of His slaves biʿibādihi
of His slaves
خَبِيرًۢا All-Aware khabīran
All-Aware
بَصِيرًۭا All-Seer baṣīran
All-Seer
٣٠ (30)
(30)
Indeed, your Lord extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. Indeed He is ever, concerning His servants, Aware and Seeing.
١٧:٣١
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَقْتُلُوٓا۟ kill taqtulū
kill
أَوْلَـٰدَكُمْ your children awlādakum
your children
خَشْيَةَ (for) fear khashyata
(for) fear
إِمْلَـٰقٍۢ ۖ (of) poverty im'lāqin
(of) poverty
نَّحْنُ We naḥnu
We
نَرْزُقُهُمْ (We) provide for them narzuquhum
(We) provide for them
وَإِيَّاكُمْ ۚ and for you wa-iyyākum
and for you
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
قَتْلَهُمْ their killing qatlahum
their killing
كَانَ is kāna
is
خِطْـًۭٔا a sin khiṭ'an
a sin
كَبِيرًۭا great kabīran
great
٣١ (31)
(31)
And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Indeed, their killing is ever a great sin.
١٧:٣٢
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَقْرَبُوا۟ go near taqrabū
go near
ٱلزِّنَىٰٓ ۖ adultery l-zinā
adultery
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, it innahu
Indeed, it
كَانَ is kāna
is
فَـٰحِشَةًۭ an immorality fāḥishatan
an immorality
وَسَآءَ and (an) evil wasāa
and (an) evil
سَبِيلًۭا way sabīlan
way
٣٢ (32)
(32)
And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way.
١٧:٣٣
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَقْتُلُوا۟ kill taqtulū
kill
ٱلنَّفْسَ the soul l-nafsa
the soul
ٱلَّتِى which allatī
which
حَرَّمَ Allah has forbidden ḥarrama
Allah has forbidden
ٱللَّهُ Allah has forbidden l-lahu
Allah has forbidden
إِلَّا except illā
except
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۗ by right bil-ḥaqi
by right
وَمَن And whoever waman
And whoever
قُتِلَ (is) killed qutila
(is) killed
مَظْلُومًۭا wrongfully maẓlūman
wrongfully
فَقَدْ verily faqad
verily
جَعَلْنَا We have made jaʿalnā
We have made
لِوَلِيِّهِۦ for his heir liwaliyyihi
for his heir
سُلْطَـٰنًۭا an authority sul'ṭānan
an authority
فَلَا but not falā
but not
يُسْرِف he should exceed yus'rif
he should exceed
فِّى in
in
ٱلْقَتْلِ ۖ the killing l-qatli
the killing
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he innahu
Indeed, he
كَانَ is kāna
is
مَنصُورًۭا helped manṣūran
helped
٣٣ (33)
(33)
And do not kill the soul [i.e., person] which Allāh has forbidden, except by right. And whoever is killed unjustly - We have given his heir authority, but let him not exceed limits in [the matter of] taking life. Indeed, he has been supported [by the law].
١٧:٣٤
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَقْرَبُوا۟ come near taqrabū
come near
مَالَ (the) wealth māla
(the) wealth
ٱلْيَتِيمِ (of) the orphan l-yatīmi
(of) the orphan
إِلَّا except illā
except
بِٱلَّتِى with what bi-allatī
with what
هِىَ [it] is hiya
[it] is
أَحْسَنُ best aḥsanu
best
حَتَّىٰ until ḥattā
until
يَبْلُغَ he reaches yablugha
he reaches
أَشُدَّهُۥ ۚ his maturity ashuddahu
his maturity
وَأَوْفُوا۟ And fulfil wa-awfū
And fulfil
بِٱلْعَهْدِ ۖ the covenant bil-ʿahdi
the covenant
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلْعَهْدَ the covenant l-ʿahda
the covenant
كَانَ will be kāna
will be
مَسْـُٔولًۭا questioned masūlan
questioned
٣٤ (34)
(34)
And do not approach the property of an orphan, except in the way that is best, until he reaches maturity. And fulfill [every] commitment. Indeed, the commitment is ever [that about which one will be] questioned.
١٧:٣٥
وَأَوْفُوا۟ And give full wa-awfū
And give full
ٱلْكَيْلَ [the] measure l-kayla
[the] measure
إِذَا when idhā
when
كِلْتُمْ you measure kil'tum
you measure
وَزِنُوا۟ and weigh wazinū
and weigh
بِٱلْقِسْطَاسِ with the balance bil-qis'ṭāsi
with the balance
ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ ۚ the straight l-mus'taqīmi
the straight
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika
That
خَيْرٌۭ (is) good khayrun
(is) good
وَأَحْسَنُ and best wa-aḥsanu
and best
تَأْوِيلًۭا (in) result tawīlan
(in) result
٣٥ (35)
(35)
And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with an even [i.e., honest] balance. That is the best [way] and best in result.
١٧:٣٦
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَقْفُ pursue taqfu
pursue
مَا what
what
لَيْسَ not laysa
not
لَكَ you have laka
you have
بِهِۦ of it bihi
of it
عِلْمٌ ۚ any knowledge ʿil'mun
any knowledge
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلسَّمْعَ the hearing l-samʿa
the hearing
وَٱلْبَصَرَ and the sight wal-baṣara
and the sight
وَٱلْفُؤَادَ and the heart wal-fuāda
and the heart
كُلُّ all kullu
all
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ those ulāika
those
كَانَ will be kāna
will be
عَنْهُ [about it] ʿanhu
[about it]
مَسْـُٔولًۭا questioned masūlan
questioned
٣٦ (36)
(36)
And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned.
١٧:٣٧
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَمْشِ walk tamshi
walk
فِى in
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
مَرَحًا ۖ (with) insolence maraḥan
(with) insolence
إِنَّكَ Indeed, you innaka
Indeed, you
لَن will never lan
will never
تَخْرِقَ tear takhriqa
tear
ٱلْأَرْضَ the earth l-arḍa
the earth
وَلَن and will never walan
and will never
تَبْلُغَ reach tablugha
reach
ٱلْجِبَالَ the mountains l-jibāla
the mountains
طُولًۭا (in) height ṭūlan
(in) height
٣٧ (37)
(37)
And do not walk upon the earth exultantly. Indeed, you will never tear the earth [apart], and you will never reach the mountains in height.
١٧:٣٨
كُلُّ All kullu
All
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
كَانَ is kāna
is
سَيِّئُهُۥ [its] evil sayyi-uhu
[its] evil
عِندَ near ʿinda
near
رَبِّكَ your Lord rabbika
your Lord
مَكْرُوهًۭا hateful makrūhan
hateful
٣٨ (38)
(38)
All that [i.e., the aforementioned] - its evil is ever, in the sight of your Lord, detested.
١٧:٣٩
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika
That
مِمَّآ (is) from what mimmā
(is) from what
أَوْحَىٰٓ (was) revealed awḥā
(was) revealed
إِلَيْكَ to you ilayka
to you
رَبُّكَ (from) your Lord rabbuka
(from) your Lord
مِنَ of mina
of
ٱلْحِكْمَةِ ۗ the wisdom l-ḥik'mati
the wisdom
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَجْعَلْ make tajʿal
make
مَعَ with maʿa
with
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
إِلَـٰهًا god ilāhan
god
ءَاخَرَ other ākhara
other
فَتُلْقَىٰ lest you should be thrown fatul'qā
lest you should be thrown
فِى in
in
جَهَنَّمَ Hell jahannama
Hell
مَلُومًۭا blameworthy malūman
blameworthy
مَّدْحُورًا abandoned madḥūran
abandoned
٣٩ (39)
(39)
That is from what your Lord has revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], of wisdom. And, [O mankind], do not make [as equal] with Allāh another deity, lest you be thrown into Hell, blamed and banished.
١٧:٤٠
أَفَأَصْفَىٰكُمْ Then has your Lord chosen (for) you afa-aṣfākum
Then has your Lord chosen (for) you
رَبُّكُم Then has your Lord chosen (for) you rabbukum
Then has your Lord chosen (for) you
بِٱلْبَنِينَ sons bil-banīna
sons
وَٱتَّخَذَ and He has taken wa-ittakhadha
and He has taken
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ the Angels l-malāikati
the Angels
إِنَـٰثًا ۚ daughters ināthan
daughters
إِنَّكُمْ Indeed, you innakum
Indeed, you
لَتَقُولُونَ surely say lataqūlūna
surely say
قَوْلًا a word qawlan
a word
عَظِيمًۭا grave ʿaẓīman
grave
٤٠ (40)
(40)
Then, has your Lord chosen you for [having] sons and taken [i.e., adopted] from among the angels daughters? Indeed, you say a grave saying.
١٧:٤١
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad
And verily
صَرَّفْنَا We have explained ṣarrafnā
We have explained
فِى in
in
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ the Quran l-qur'āni
the Quran
لِيَذَّكَّرُوا۟ that they may take heed liyadhakkarū
that they may take heed
وَمَا but not wamā
but not
يَزِيدُهُمْ it increases them yazīduhum
it increases them
إِلَّا except illā
except
نُفُورًۭا (in) aversion nufūran
(in) aversion
٤١ (41)
(41)
And We have certainly diversified [the contents] in this Qur’ān that they [i.e., mankind] may be reminded, but it does not increase them [i.e., the disbelievers] except in aversion.
١٧:٤٢
قُل Say qul
Say
لَّوْ If law
If
كَانَ (there) were kāna
(there) were
مَعَهُۥٓ with Him maʿahu
with Him
ءَالِهَةٌۭ gods ālihatun
gods
كَمَا as kamā
as
يَقُولُونَ they say yaqūlūna
they say
إِذًۭا then idhan
then
لَّٱبْتَغَوْا۟ surely they (would) have sought la-ib'taghaw
surely they (would) have sought
إِلَىٰ to ilā
to
ذِى (the) Owner dhī
(the) Owner
ٱلْعَرْشِ (of) the Throne l-ʿarshi
(of) the Throne
سَبِيلًۭا a way sabīlan
a way
٤٢ (42)
(42)
Say, [O Muḥammad], "If there had been with Him [other] gods, as they say, then they [each] would have sought to the Owner of the Throne a way."1
١٧:٤٣
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ Glorified is He sub'ḥānahu
Glorified is He
وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ and Exalted is He wataʿālā
and Exalted is He
عَمَّا above what ʿammā
above what
يَقُولُونَ they say yaqūlūna
they say
عُلُوًّۭا (by) height ʿuluwwan
(by) height
كَبِيرًۭا great kabīran
great
٤٣ (43)
(43)
Exalted is He and high above what they say by great sublimity.
١٧:٤٤
تُسَبِّحُ Glorify tusabbiḥu
Glorify
لَهُ [to] Him lahu
[to] Him
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتُ the seven heavens l-samāwātu
the seven heavens
ٱلسَّبْعُ the seven heavens l-sabʿu
the seven heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضُ and the earth wal-arḍu
and the earth
وَمَن and whatever waman
and whatever
فِيهِنَّ ۚ (is) in them fīhinna
(is) in them
وَإِن And (there is) not wa-in
And (there is) not
مِّن any min
any
شَىْءٍ thing shayin
thing
إِلَّا except illā
except
يُسَبِّحُ glorifies yusabbiḥu
glorifies
بِحَمْدِهِۦ His Praise biḥamdihi
His Praise
وَلَـٰكِن but walākin
but
لَّا not
not
تَفْقَهُونَ you understand tafqahūna
you understand
تَسْبِيحَهُمْ ۗ their glorification tasbīḥahum
their glorification
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, He innahu
Indeed, He
كَانَ is kāna
is
حَلِيمًا Ever-Forbearing ḥalīman
Ever-Forbearing
غَفُورًۭا Oft-Forgiving ghafūran
Oft-Forgiving
٤٤ (44)
(44)
The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them exalt Him. And there is not a thing except that it exalts [Allāh] by His praise, but you do not understand their [way of] exalting. Indeed, He is ever Forbearing and Forgiving.
١٧:٤٥
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
قَرَأْتَ you recite qarata
you recite
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ the Quran l-qur'āna
the Quran
جَعَلْنَا We place jaʿalnā
We place
بَيْنَكَ between you baynaka
between you
وَبَيْنَ and between wabayna
and between
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ believe yu'minūna
believe
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ in the Hereafter bil-ākhirati
in the Hereafter
حِجَابًۭا a barrier ḥijāban
a barrier
مَّسْتُورًۭا hidden mastūran
hidden
٤٥ (45)
(45)
And when you recite the Qur’ān, We put between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter a concealed partition.
١٧:٤٦
وَجَعَلْنَا And We have placed wajaʿalnā
And We have placed
عَلَىٰ over ʿalā
over
قُلُوبِهِمْ their hearts qulūbihim
their hearts
أَكِنَّةً coverings akinnatan
coverings
أَن lest an
lest
يَفْقَهُوهُ they understand it yafqahūhu
they understand it
وَفِىٓ and in wafī
and in
ءَاذَانِهِمْ their ears ādhānihim
their ears
وَقْرًۭا ۚ deafness waqran
deafness
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
ذَكَرْتَ you mention dhakarta
you mention
رَبَّكَ your Lord rabbaka
your Lord
فِى in
in
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ the Quran l-qur'āni
the Quran
وَحْدَهُۥ Alone waḥdahu
Alone
وَلَّوْا۟ they turn wallaw
they turn
عَلَىٰٓ on ʿalā
on
أَدْبَـٰرِهِمْ their backs adbārihim
their backs
نُفُورًۭا (in) aversion nufūran
(in) aversion
٤٦ (46)
(46)
And We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And when you mention your Lord alone in the Qur’ān, they turn back in aversion.
١٧:٤٧
نَّحْنُ We naḥnu
We
أَعْلَمُ know best aʿlamu
know best
بِمَا [of] what bimā
[of] what
يَسْتَمِعُونَ they listen yastamiʿūna
they listen
بِهِۦٓ to [it] bihi
to [it]
إِذْ when idh
when
يَسْتَمِعُونَ they listen yastamiʿūna
they listen
إِلَيْكَ to you ilayka
to you
وَإِذْ and when wa-idh
and when
هُمْ they hum
they
نَجْوَىٰٓ (are) in private conversation najwā
(are) in private conversation
إِذْ when idh
when
يَقُولُ say yaqūlu
say
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ the wrongdoers l-ẓālimūna
the wrongdoers
إِن Not in
Not
تَتَّبِعُونَ you follow tattabiʿūna
you follow
إِلَّا but illā
but
رَجُلًۭا a man rajulan
a man
مَّسْحُورًا bewitched masḥūran
bewitched
٤٧ (47)
(47)
We are most knowing of how they listen to it when they listen to you and [of] when they are in private conversation, when the wrongdoers say, "You follow not but a man affected by magic."
١٧:٤٨
ٱنظُرْ See unẓur
See
كَيْفَ how kayfa
how
ضَرَبُوا۟ they put forth ḍarabū
they put forth
لَكَ for you laka
for you
ٱلْأَمْثَالَ the examples l-amthāla
the examples
فَضَلُّوا۟ but they have gone astray faḍallū
but they have gone astray
فَلَا so not falā
so not
يَسْتَطِيعُونَ they can yastaṭīʿūna
they can
سَبِيلًۭا (find) a way sabīlan
(find) a way
٤٨ (48)
(48)
Look how they strike for you comparisons; but they have strayed, so they cannot [find] a way.
١٧:٤٩
وَقَالُوٓا۟ And they say waqālū
And they say
أَءِذَا Is it when a-idhā
Is it when
كُنَّا we are kunnā
we are
عِظَـٰمًۭا bones ʿiẓāman
bones
وَرُفَـٰتًا and crumbled particles warufātan
and crumbled particles
أَءِنَّا will we a-innā
will we
لَمَبْعُوثُونَ surely (be) resurrected lamabʿūthūna
surely (be) resurrected
خَلْقًۭا (as) a creation khalqan
(as) a creation
جَدِيدًۭا new jadīdan
new
٤٩ (49)
(49)
And they say, "When we are bones and crumbled particles, will we [truly] be resurrected as a new creation?"
١٧:٥٠
۞ قُلْ Say qul
Say
كُونُوا۟ Be kūnū
Be
حِجَارَةً stones ḥijāratan
stones
أَوْ or aw
or
حَدِيدًا iron ḥadīdan
iron
٥٠ (50)
(50)
Say, "Be you stones or iron
١٧:٥١
أَوْ Or aw
Or
خَلْقًۭا a creation khalqan
a creation
مِّمَّا of what mimmā
of what
يَكْبُرُ (is) great yakburu
(is) great
فِى in
in
صُدُورِكُمْ ۚ your breasts ṣudūrikum
your breasts
فَسَيَقُولُونَ Then they will say fasayaqūlūna
Then they will say
مَن Who man
Who
يُعِيدُنَا ۖ will restore us yuʿīdunā
will restore us
قُلِ Say quli
Say
ٱلَّذِى He Who alladhī
He Who
فَطَرَكُمْ created you faṭarakum
created you
أَوَّلَ (the) first awwala
(the) first
مَرَّةٍۢ ۚ time marratin
time
فَسَيُنْغِضُونَ Then they will shake fasayun'ghiḍūna
Then they will shake
إِلَيْكَ at you ilayka
at you
رُءُوسَهُمْ their heads ruūsahum
their heads
وَيَقُولُونَ and they say wayaqūlūna
and they say
مَتَىٰ When (will) matā
When (will)
هُوَ ۖ it (be) huwa
it (be)
قُلْ Say qul
Say
عَسَىٰٓ Perhaps ʿasā
Perhaps
أَن that an
that
يَكُونَ (it) will be yakūna
(it) will be
قَرِيبًۭا soon qarīban
soon
٥١ (51)
(51)
Or [any] creation of that which is great within your breasts." And they will say, "Who will restore us?" Say, "He who brought you forth the first time." Then they will nod their heads toward you and say, "When is that?" Say, "Perhaps it will be soon -
١٧:٥٢
يَوْمَ (On) the Day yawma
(On) the Day
يَدْعُوكُمْ He will call you yadʿūkum
He will call you
فَتَسْتَجِيبُونَ and you will respond fatastajībūna
and you will respond
بِحَمْدِهِۦ with His Praise biḥamdihi
with His Praise
وَتَظُنُّونَ and you will think wataẓunnūna
and you will think
إِن not in
not
لَّبِثْتُمْ you had remained labith'tum
you had remained
إِلَّا except illā
except
قَلِيلًۭا a little (while) qalīlan
a little (while)
٥٢ (52)
(52)
On the Day He will call you and you will respond with praise of Him and think that you had not remained [in the world] except for a little."
١٧:٥٣
وَقُل And say waqul
And say
لِّعِبَادِى to My slaves liʿibādī
to My slaves
يَقُولُوا۟ (to) say yaqūlū
(to) say
ٱلَّتِى that allatī
that
هِىَ which hiya
which
أَحْسَنُ ۚ (is) best aḥsanu
(is) best
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ the Shaitaan l-shayṭāna
the Shaitaan
يَنزَغُ sows discord yanzaghu
sows discord
بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ between them baynahum
between them
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ the Shaitaan l-shayṭāna
the Shaitaan
كَانَ is kāna
is
لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ to the man lil'insāni
to the man
عَدُوًّۭا an enemy ʿaduwwan
an enemy
مُّبِينًۭا clear mubīnan
clear
٥٣ (53)
(53)
And tell My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan induces [dissension] among them. Indeed Satan is ever, to mankind, a clear enemy.
١٧:٥٤
رَّبُّكُمْ Your Lord rabbukum
Your Lord
أَعْلَمُ (is) most knowing aʿlamu
(is) most knowing
بِكُمْ ۖ of you bikum
of you
إِن If in
If
يَشَأْ He wills yasha
He wills
يَرْحَمْكُمْ He will have mercy on you yarḥamkum
He will have mercy on you
أَوْ or aw
or
إِن if in
if
يَشَأْ He wills yasha
He wills
يُعَذِّبْكُمْ ۚ He will punish you yuʿadhib'kum
He will punish you
وَمَآ And not wamā
And not
أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ We have sent you arsalnāka
We have sent you
عَلَيْهِمْ over them ʿalayhim
over them
وَكِيلًۭا (as) a guardian wakīlan
(as) a guardian
٥٤ (54)
(54)
Your Lord is most knowing of you. If He wills, He will have mercy upon you; or if He wills, He will punish you. And We have not sent you, [O Muḥammad], over them as a manager.
١٧:٥٥
وَرَبُّكَ And your Lord warabbuka
And your Lord
أَعْلَمُ (is) most knowing aʿlamu
(is) most knowing
بِمَن of whoever biman
of whoever
فِى (is) in
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۗ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad
And verily
فَضَّلْنَا We have preferred faḍḍalnā
We have preferred
بَعْضَ some baʿḍa
some
ٱلنَّبِيِّـۧنَ (of) the Prophets l-nabiyīna
(of) the Prophets
عَلَىٰ to ʿalā
to
بَعْضٍۢ ۖ others baʿḍin
others
وَءَاتَيْنَا And We gave waātaynā
And We gave
دَاوُۥدَ Dawood dāwūda
Dawood
زَبُورًۭا Zaboor zabūran
Zaboor
٥٥ (55)
(55)
And your Lord is most knowing of whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And We have made some of the prophets exceed others [in various ways], and to David We gave the book [of Psalms].
١٧:٥٦
قُلِ Say quli
Say
ٱدْعُوا۟ Call id'ʿū
Call
ٱلَّذِينَ those whom alladhīna
those whom
زَعَمْتُم you claimed zaʿamtum
you claimed
مِّن besides Him min
besides Him
دُونِهِۦ besides Him dūnihi
besides Him
فَلَا [then] not falā
[then] not
يَمْلِكُونَ they have power yamlikūna
they have power
كَشْفَ (to) remove kashfa
(to) remove
ٱلضُّرِّ the misfortunes l-ḍuri
the misfortunes
عَنكُمْ from you ʿankum
from you
وَلَا and not walā
and not
تَحْوِيلًا (to) transfer (it) taḥwīlan
(to) transfer (it)
٥٦ (56)
(56)
Say, "Invoke those you have claimed [as gods] besides Him, for they do not possess the [ability for] removal of adversity from you or [for its] transfer [to someone else]."
١٧:٥٧
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ulāika
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ whom alladhīna
whom
يَدْعُونَ they call yadʿūna
they call
يَبْتَغُونَ seek yabtaghūna
seek
إِلَىٰ to ilā
to
رَبِّهِمُ their Lord rabbihimu
their Lord
ٱلْوَسِيلَةَ the means of access l-wasīlata
the means of access
أَيُّهُمْ which of them ayyuhum
which of them
أَقْرَبُ (is) nearest aqrabu
(is) nearest
وَيَرْجُونَ and they hope wayarjūna
and they hope
رَحْمَتَهُۥ (for) His mercy raḥmatahu
(for) His mercy
وَيَخَافُونَ and fear wayakhāfūna
and fear
عَذَابَهُۥٓ ۚ His punishment ʿadhābahu
His punishment
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
عَذَابَ (the) punishment ʿadhāba
(the) punishment
رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord rabbika
(of) your Lord
كَانَ is kāna
is
مَحْذُورًۭا (ever) feared maḥdhūran
(ever) feared
٥٧ (57)
(57)
Those whom they invoke seek means of access to their Lord, [striving as to] which of them would be nearest, and they hope for His mercy and fear His punishment. Indeed, the punishment of your Lord is ever feared.
١٧:٥٨
وَإِن And not wa-in
And not
مِّن (is) any min
(is) any
قَرْيَةٍ town qaryatin
town
إِلَّا but illā
but
نَحْنُ We naḥnu
We
مُهْلِكُوهَا (will) destroy it muh'likūhā
(will) destroy it
قَبْلَ before qabla
before
يَوْمِ (the) Day yawmi
(the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
أَوْ or aw
or
مُعَذِّبُوهَا punish it muʿadhibūhā
punish it
عَذَابًۭا with a punishment ʿadhāban
with a punishment
شَدِيدًۭا ۚ severe shadīdan
severe
كَانَ That is kāna
That is
ذَٰلِكَ That is dhālika
That is
فِى in
in
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ the Book l-kitābi
the Book
مَسْطُورًۭا written masṭūran
written
٥٨ (58)
(58)
And there is no city but that We will destroy it before the Day of Resurrection or punish it with a severe punishment. That has ever been in the Register inscribed.
١٧:٥٩
وَمَا And not wamā
And not
مَنَعَنَآ stopped Us manaʿanā
stopped Us
أَن that an
that
نُّرْسِلَ We send nur'sila
We send
بِٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ the Signs bil-āyāti
the Signs
إِلَّآ except illā
except
أَن that an
that
كَذَّبَ denied kadhaba
denied
بِهَا them bihā
them
ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ ۚ the former (people) l-awalūna
the former (people)
وَءَاتَيْنَا And We gave waātaynā
And We gave
ثَمُودَ Thamud thamūda
Thamud
ٱلنَّاقَةَ the she-camel l-nāqata
the she-camel
مُبْصِرَةًۭ (as) a visible sign mub'ṣiratan
(as) a visible sign
فَظَلَمُوا۟ but they wronged faẓalamū
but they wronged
بِهَا ۚ her bihā
her
وَمَا And not wamā
And not
نُرْسِلُ We send nur'silu
We send
بِٱلْـَٔايَـٰتِ the Signs bil-āyāti
the Signs
إِلَّا except illā
except
تَخْوِيفًۭا (as) a warning takhwīfan
(as) a warning
٥٩ (59)
(59)
And nothing has prevented Us from sending signs [i.e., miracles] except that the former peoples denied them. And We gave Thamūd the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning.
١٧:٦٠
وَإِذْ And when wa-idh
And when
قُلْنَا We said qul'nā
We said
لَكَ to you laka
to you
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
رَبَّكَ your Lord rabbaka
your Lord
أَحَاطَ has encompassed aḥāṭa
has encompassed
بِٱلنَّاسِ ۚ the mankind bil-nāsi
the mankind
وَمَا And not wamā
And not
جَعَلْنَا We made jaʿalnā
We made
ٱلرُّءْيَا the vision l-ru'yā
the vision
ٱلَّتِىٓ which allatī
which
أَرَيْنَـٰكَ We showed you araynāka
We showed you
إِلَّا except illā
except
فِتْنَةًۭ (as) a trial fit'natan
(as) a trial
لِّلنَّاسِ for mankind lilnnāsi
for mankind
وَٱلشَّجَرَةَ and the tree wal-shajarata
and the tree
ٱلْمَلْعُونَةَ the accursed l-malʿūnata
the accursed
فِى in
in
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ ۚ the Quran l-qur'āni
the Quran
وَنُخَوِّفُهُمْ And We threaten them wanukhawwifuhum
And We threaten them
فَمَا but not famā
but not
يَزِيدُهُمْ it increases them yazīduhum
it increases them
إِلَّا except illā
except
طُغْيَـٰنًۭا (in) transgression ṭugh'yānan
(in) transgression
كَبِيرًۭا great kabīran
great
٦٠ (60)
(60)
And [remember, O Muḥammad], when We told you, "Indeed, your Lord has encompassed the people."1 And We did not make the sight which We showed you except as a trial for the people, as was the accursed tree [mentioned] in the Qur’ān. And We threaten [i.e., warn] them, but it increases them not except in great transgression.
١٧:٦١
وَإِذْ And when wa-idh
And when
قُلْنَا We said qul'nā
We said
لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ to the Angels lil'malāikati
to the Angels
ٱسْجُدُوا۟ Prostrate us'judū
Prostrate
لِـَٔادَمَ to Adam liādama
to Adam
فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ So they prostrated fasajadū
So they prostrated
إِلَّآ except illā
except
إِبْلِيسَ Iblis ib'līsa
Iblis
قَالَ He said qāla
He said
ءَأَسْجُدُ Shall I prostrate a-asjudu
Shall I prostrate
لِمَنْ to (one) whom liman
to (one) whom
خَلَقْتَ You created khalaqta
You created
طِينًۭا (from) clay ṭīnan
(from) clay
٦١ (61)
(61)
And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except for Iblees. He said, "Should I prostrate to one You created from clay?"
١٧:٦٢
قَالَ He said qāla
He said
أَرَءَيْتَكَ Do You see ara-aytaka
Do You see
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
ٱلَّذِى whom alladhī
whom
كَرَّمْتَ You have honored karramta
You have honored
عَلَىَّ above me ʿalayya
above me
لَئِنْ If la-in
If
أَخَّرْتَنِ You give me respite akhartani
You give me respite
إِلَىٰ till ilā
till
يَوْمِ (the) Day yawmi
(the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
لَأَحْتَنِكَنَّ I will surely destroy la-aḥtanikanna
I will surely destroy
ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥٓ his offspring dhurriyyatahu
his offspring
إِلَّا except illā
except
قَلِيلًۭا a few qalīlan
a few
٦٢ (62)
(62)
[Iblees] said, "Do You see this one whom You have honored above me? If You delay me [i.e., my death] until the Day of Resurrection, I will surely destroy his descendants, except for a few."
١٧:٦٣
قَالَ He said qāla
He said
ٱذْهَبْ Go idh'hab
Go
فَمَن and whoever faman
and whoever
تَبِعَكَ follows you tabiʿaka
follows you
مِنْهُمْ among them min'hum
among them
فَإِنَّ then indeed fa-inna
then indeed
جَهَنَّمَ Hell jahannama
Hell
جَزَآؤُكُمْ (is) your recompense jazāukum
(is) your recompense
جَزَآءًۭ a recompense jazāan
a recompense
مَّوْفُورًۭا ample mawfūran
ample
٦٣ (63)
(63)
[Allāh] said, "Go, for whoever of them follows you, indeed Hell will be the recompense of [all of] you - an ample recompense.
١٧:٦٤
وَٱسْتَفْزِزْ And incite wa-is'tafziz
And incite
مَنِ whoever mani
whoever
ٱسْتَطَعْتَ you can is'taṭaʿta
you can
مِنْهُم among them min'hum
among them
بِصَوْتِكَ with your voice biṣawtika
with your voice
وَأَجْلِبْ and assault wa-ajlib
and assault
عَلَيْهِم [on] them ʿalayhim
[on] them
بِخَيْلِكَ with your cavalry bikhaylika
with your cavalry
وَرَجِلِكَ and infantry warajilika
and infantry
وَشَارِكْهُمْ and be a partner washārik'hum
and be a partner
فِى in
in
ٱلْأَمْوَٰلِ the wealth l-amwāli
the wealth
وَٱلْأَوْلَـٰدِ and the children wal-awlādi
and the children
وَعِدْهُمْ ۚ and promise them waʿid'hum
and promise them
وَمَا And not wamā
And not
يَعِدُهُمُ promises them yaʿiduhumu
promises them
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ the Shaitaan l-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan
إِلَّا except illā
except
غُرُورًا delusion ghurūran
delusion
٦٤ (64)
(64)
And incite [to senselessness] whoever you can among them with your voice and assault them with your horses and foot soldiers and become a partner in their wealth and their children and promise them." But Satan does not promise them except delusion.
١٧:٦٥
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
عِبَادِى My slaves ʿibādī
My slaves
لَيْسَ not laysa
not
لَكَ for you laka
for you
عَلَيْهِمْ over them ʿalayhim
over them
سُلْطَـٰنٌۭ ۚ any authority sul'ṭānun
any authority
وَكَفَىٰ And sufficient wakafā
And sufficient
بِرَبِّكَ (is) your Lord birabbika
(is) your Lord
وَكِيلًۭا (as) a Guardian wakīlan
(as) a Guardian
٦٥ (65)
(65)
Indeed, over My [believing] servants there is for you no authority. And sufficient is your Lord as Disposer of affairs.
١٧:٦٦
رَّبُّكُمُ Your Lord rabbukumu
Your Lord
ٱلَّذِى (is) the One Who alladhī
(is) the One Who
يُزْجِى drives yuz'jī
drives
لَكُمُ for you lakumu
for you
ٱلْفُلْكَ the ship l-ful'ka
the ship
فِى in
in
ٱلْبَحْرِ the sea l-baḥri
the sea
لِتَبْتَغُوا۟ that you may seek litabtaghū
that you may seek
مِن of min
of
فَضْلِهِۦٓ ۚ His Bounty faḍlihi
His Bounty
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, He innahu
Indeed, He
كَانَ is kāna
is
بِكُمْ to you bikum
to you
رَحِيمًۭا Ever Merciful raḥīman
Ever Merciful
٦٦ (66)
(66)
It is your Lord who drives the ship for you through the sea that you may seek of His bounty. Indeed, He is ever, to you, Merciful.
١٧:٦٧
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
مَسَّكُمُ touches you massakumu
touches you
ٱلضُّرُّ the hardship l-ḍuru
the hardship
فِى in
in
ٱلْبَحْرِ the sea l-baḥri
the sea
ضَلَّ lost ḍalla
lost
مَن (are) who man
(are) who
تَدْعُونَ you call tadʿūna
you call
إِلَّآ except illā
except
إِيَّاهُ ۖ Him Alone iyyāhu
Him Alone
فَلَمَّا But when falammā
But when
نَجَّىٰكُمْ He delivers you najjākum
He delivers you
إِلَى to ilā
to
ٱلْبَرِّ the land l-bari
the land
أَعْرَضْتُمْ ۚ you turn away aʿraḍtum
you turn away
وَكَانَ And is wakāna
And is
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ man l-insānu
man
كَفُورًا ungrateful kafūran
ungrateful
٦٧ (67)
(67)
And when adversity touches you at sea, lost are [all] those you invoke except for Him. But when He delivers you to the land, you turn away [from Him]. And ever is man ungrateful.
١٧:٦٨
أَفَأَمِنتُمْ Do you then feel secure afa-amintum
Do you then feel secure
أَن that (not) an
that (not)
يَخْسِفَ He will cause to swallow yakhsifa
He will cause to swallow
بِكُمْ you bikum
you
جَانِبَ side jāniba
side
ٱلْبَرِّ (of) the land l-bari
(of) the land
أَوْ or aw
or
يُرْسِلَ send yur'sila
send
عَلَيْكُمْ against you ʿalaykum
against you
حَاصِبًۭا a storm of stones ḥāṣiban
a storm of stones
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
لَا not
not
تَجِدُوا۟ you will find tajidū
you will find
لَكُمْ for you lakum
for you
وَكِيلًا a guardian wakīlan
a guardian
٦٨ (68)
(68)
Then do you feel secure that [instead] He will not cause a part of the land to swallow you or send against you a storm of stones? Then you would not find for yourselves an advocate.
١٧:٦٩
أَمْ Or am
Or
أَمِنتُمْ do you feel secure amintum
do you feel secure
أَن that (not) an
that (not)
يُعِيدَكُمْ He will send you back yuʿīdakum
He will send you back
فِيهِ into it fīhi
into it
تَارَةً another time tāratan
another time
أُخْرَىٰ another time ukh'rā
another time
فَيُرْسِلَ and send fayur'sila
and send
عَلَيْكُمْ upon you ʿalaykum
upon you
قَاصِفًۭا a hurricane qāṣifan
a hurricane
مِّنَ of mina
of
ٱلرِّيحِ the wind l-rīḥi
the wind
فَيُغْرِقَكُم and drown you fayugh'riqakum
and drown you
بِمَا because bimā
because
كَفَرْتُمْ ۙ you disbelieved kafartum
you disbelieved
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
لَا not
not
تَجِدُوا۟ you will find tajidū
you will find
لَكُمْ for you lakum
for you
عَلَيْنَا against Us ʿalaynā
against Us
بِهِۦ therein bihi
therein
تَبِيعًۭا an avenger tabīʿan
an avenger
٦٩ (69)
(69)
Or do you feel secure that He will not send you back into it [i.e., the sea] another time and send upon you a hurricane of wind and drown you for what you denied? Then you would not find for yourselves against Us an avenger.
١٧:٧٠
۞ وَلَقَدْ And certainly walaqad
And certainly
كَرَّمْنَا We have honored karramnā
We have honored
بَنِىٓ (the) children of Adam banī
(the) children of Adam
ءَادَمَ (the) children of Adam ādama
(the) children of Adam
وَحَمَلْنَـٰهُمْ and We carried them waḥamalnāhum
and We carried them
فِى on
on
ٱلْبَرِّ the land l-bari
the land
وَٱلْبَحْرِ and the sea wal-baḥri
and the sea
وَرَزَقْنَـٰهُم and We have provided them warazaqnāhum
and We have provided them
مِّنَ of mina
of
ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ the good things l-ṭayibāti
the good things
وَفَضَّلْنَـٰهُمْ and We preferred them wafaḍḍalnāhum
and We preferred them
عَلَىٰ over ʿalā
over
كَثِيرٍۢ many kathīrin
many
مِّمَّنْ of those whom mimman
of those whom
خَلَقْنَا We have created khalaqnā
We have created
تَفْضِيلًۭا (with) preference tafḍīlan
(with) preference
٧٠ (70)
(70)
And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference.
١٧:٧١
يَوْمَ (The) Day yawma
(The) Day
نَدْعُوا۟ We will call nadʿū
We will call
كُلَّ all kulla
all
أُنَاسٍۭ human beings unāsin
human beings
بِإِمَـٰمِهِمْ ۖ with their record bi-imāmihim
with their record
فَمَنْ then whoever faman
then whoever
أُوتِىَ is given ūtiya
is given
كِتَـٰبَهُۥ his record kitābahu
his record
بِيَمِينِهِۦ in his right hand biyamīnihi
in his right hand
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ then those fa-ulāika
then those
يَقْرَءُونَ will read yaqraūna
will read
كِتَـٰبَهُمْ their records kitābahum
their records
وَلَا and not walā
and not
يُظْلَمُونَ they will be wronged yuẓ'lamūna
they will be wronged
فَتِيلًۭا (even as much as) a hair on a date seed fatīlan
(even as much as) a hair on a date seed
٧١ (71)
(71)
[Mention, O Muḥammad], the Day We will call forth every people with their record [of deeds]. Then whoever is given his record in his right hand - those will read their records, and injustice will not be done to them, [even] as much as a thread [inside the date seed].
١٧:٧٢
وَمَن And whoever waman
And whoever
كَانَ is kāna
is
فِى in
in
هَـٰذِهِۦٓ this (world) hādhihi
this (world)
أَعْمَىٰ blind aʿmā
blind
فَهُوَ then he fahuwa
then he
فِى in
in
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ the Hereafter l-ākhirati
the Hereafter
أَعْمَىٰ (will be) blind aʿmā
(will be) blind
وَأَضَلُّ and more astray wa-aḍallu
and more astray
سَبِيلًۭا (from the) path sabīlan
(from the) path
٧٢ (72)
(72)
And whoever is blind in this [life] will be blind in the Hereafter and more astray in way.
١٧:٧٣
وَإِن And indeed wa-in
And indeed
كَادُوا۟ they were about (to) kādū
they were about (to)
لَيَفْتِنُونَكَ tempt you away layaftinūnaka
tempt you away
عَنِ from ʿani
from
ٱلَّذِىٓ that which alladhī
that which
أَوْحَيْنَآ We revealed awḥaynā
We revealed
إِلَيْكَ to you ilayka
to you
لِتَفْتَرِىَ that you invent litaftariya
that you invent
عَلَيْنَا about Us ʿalaynā
about Us
غَيْرَهُۥ ۖ other (than) it ghayrahu
other (than) it
وَإِذًۭا And then wa-idhan
And then
لَّٱتَّخَذُوكَ surely they would take you la-ittakhadhūka
surely they would take you
خَلِيلًۭا (as) a friend khalīlan
(as) a friend
٧٣ (73)
(73)
And indeed, they were about to tempt you away from that which We revealed to you in order to [make] you invent about Us something else; and then they would have taken you as a friend.
١٧:٧٤
وَلَوْلَآ And if not walawlā
And if not
أَن [that] an
[that]
ثَبَّتْنَـٰكَ We (had) strengthened you thabbatnāka
We (had) strengthened you
لَقَدْ certainly laqad
certainly
كِدتَّ you almost kidtta
you almost
تَرْكَنُ (would) have inclined tarkanu
(would) have inclined
إِلَيْهِمْ to them ilayhim
to them
شَيْـًۭٔا (in) something shayan
(in) something
قَلِيلًا a little qalīlan
a little
٧٤ (74)
(74)
And if We had not strengthened you, you would have almost inclined to them a little.
١٧:٧٥
إِذًۭا Then idhan
Then
لَّأَذَقْنَـٰكَ We (would) have made you taste la-adhaqnāka
We (would) have made you taste
ضِعْفَ double ḍiʿ'fa
double
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ (in) the life l-ḥayati
(in) the life
وَضِعْفَ and double waḍiʿ'fa
and double
ٱلْمَمَاتِ (after) the death l-mamāti
(after) the death
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
لَا not
not
تَجِدُ you (would) have found tajidu
you (would) have found
لَكَ for you laka
for you
عَلَيْنَا against Us ʿalaynā
against Us
نَصِيرًۭا any helper naṣīran
any helper
٧٥ (75)
(75)
Then [if you had], We would have made you taste double [punishment in] life and double [after] death. Then you would not find for yourself against Us a helper.
١٧:٧٦
وَإِن And indeed wa-in
And indeed
كَادُوا۟ they were about kādū
they were about
لَيَسْتَفِزُّونَكَ (to) scare you layastafizzūnaka
(to) scare you
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلْأَرْضِ the land l-arḍi
the land
لِيُخْرِجُوكَ that they evict you liyukh'rijūka
that they evict you
مِنْهَا ۖ from it min'hā
from it
وَإِذًۭا But then wa-idhan
But then
لَّا not
not
يَلْبَثُونَ they (would) have stayed yalbathūna
they (would) have stayed
خِلَـٰفَكَ after you khilāfaka
after you
إِلَّا except illā
except
قَلِيلًۭا a little qalīlan
a little
٧٦ (76)
(76)
And indeed, they were about to provoke [i.e., drive] you from the land [i.e., Makkah] to evict you therefrom. And then [when they do], they will not remain [there] after you, except for a little.
١٧:٧٧
سُنَّةَ (Such is Our) Way sunnata
(Such is Our) Way
مَن (for) whom man
(for) whom
قَدْ [verily] qad
[verily]
أَرْسَلْنَا We sent arsalnā
We sent
قَبْلَكَ before you qablaka
before you
مِن of min
of
رُّسُلِنَا ۖ Our Messengers rusulinā
Our Messengers
وَلَا And not walā
And not
تَجِدُ you will find tajidu
you will find
لِسُنَّتِنَا (in) Our way lisunnatinā
(in) Our way
تَحْوِيلًا any alteration taḥwīlan
any alteration
٧٧ (77)
(77)
[That is Our] established way for those We had sent before you of Our messengers; and you will not find in Our way any alteration.
١٧:٧٨
أَقِمِ Establish aqimi
Establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ the prayer l-ṣalata
the prayer
لِدُلُوكِ at the decline lidulūki
at the decline
ٱلشَّمْسِ (of) the sun l-shamsi
(of) the sun
إِلَىٰ till ilā
till
غَسَقِ (the) darkness ghasaqi
(the) darkness
ٱلَّيْلِ (of) the night al-layli
(of) the night
وَقُرْءَانَ and Quran waqur'āna
and Quran
ٱلْفَجْرِ ۖ at dawn l-fajri
at dawn
إِنَّ indeed inna
indeed
قُرْءَانَ the Quran qur'āna
the Quran
ٱلْفَجْرِ (at) the dawn l-fajri
(at) the dawn
كَانَ is kāna
is
مَشْهُودًۭا ever witnessed mashhūdan
ever witnessed
٧٨ (78)
(78)
Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night and [also] the Qur’ān [i.e., recitation] of dawn. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed.
١٧:٧٩
وَمِنَ And from wamina
And from
ٱلَّيْلِ the night al-layli
the night
فَتَهَجَّدْ arise from sleep for prayer fatahajjad
arise from sleep for prayer
بِهِۦ with it bihi
with it
نَافِلَةًۭ (as) additional nāfilatan
(as) additional
لَّكَ for you laka
for you
عَسَىٰٓ it may be ʿasā
it may be
أَن that an
that
يَبْعَثَكَ will raise you yabʿathaka
will raise you
رَبُّكَ your Lord rabbuka
your Lord
مَقَامًۭا (to) a station maqāman
(to) a station
مَّحْمُودًۭا praiseworthy maḥmūdan
praiseworthy
٧٩ (79)
(79)
And from [part of] the night, pray with it [i.e., recitation of the Qur’ān] as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station.
١٧:٨٠
وَقُل And say waqul
And say
رَّبِّ My Lord rabbi
My Lord
أَدْخِلْنِى Cause me to enter adkhil'nī
Cause me to enter
مُدْخَلَ an entrance mud'khala
an entrance
صِدْقٍۢ sound ṣid'qin
sound
وَأَخْرِجْنِى and cause me to exit wa-akhrij'nī
and cause me to exit
مُخْرَجَ an exit mukh'raja
an exit
صِدْقٍۢ sound ṣid'qin
sound
وَٱجْعَل and make wa-ij'ʿal
and make
لِّى for me
for me
مِن from min
from
لَّدُنكَ near You ladunka
near You
سُلْطَـٰنًۭا an authority sul'ṭānan
an authority
نَّصِيرًۭا helping naṣīran
helping
٨٠ (80)
(80)
And say, "My Lord, cause me to enter a sound entrance and to exit a sound exit and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority."
١٧:٨١
وَقُلْ And say waqul
And say
جَآءَ Has come jāa
Has come
ٱلْحَقُّ the truth l-ḥaqu
the truth
وَزَهَقَ and perished wazahaqa
and perished
ٱلْبَـٰطِلُ ۚ the falsehood l-bāṭilu
the falsehood
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلْبَـٰطِلَ the falsehood l-bāṭila
the falsehood
كَانَ is kāna
is
زَهُوقًۭا (bound) to perish zahūqan
(bound) to perish
٨١ (81)
(81)
And say, "Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], ever bound to depart."
١٧:٨٢
وَنُنَزِّلُ And We reveal wanunazzilu
And We reveal
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ the Quran l-qur'āni
the Quran
مَا that
that
هُوَ it huwa
it
شِفَآءٌۭ (is) a healing shifāon
(is) a healing
وَرَحْمَةٌۭ and a mercy waraḥmatun
and a mercy
لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۙ for the believers lil'mu'minīna
for the believers
وَلَا but not walā
but not
يَزِيدُ it increases yazīdu
it increases
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ the wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna
the wrongdoers
إِلَّا except illā
except
خَسَارًۭا (in) loss khasāran
(in) loss
٨٢ (82)
(82)
And We send down of the Qur’ān that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss.
١٧:٨٣
وَإِذَآ And when wa-idhā
And when
أَنْعَمْنَا We bestow favor anʿamnā
We bestow favor
عَلَى on ʿalā
on
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنِ man l-insāni
man
أَعْرَضَ he turns away aʿraḍa
he turns away
وَنَـَٔا and becomes remote wanaā
and becomes remote
بِجَانِبِهِۦ ۖ on his side bijānibihi
on his side
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
مَسَّهُ touches him massahu
touches him
ٱلشَّرُّ the evil l-sharu
the evil
كَانَ he is kāna
he is
يَـُٔوسًۭا (in) despair yaūsan
(in) despair
٨٣ (83)
(83)
And when We bestow favor upon man [i.e., the disbeliever], he turns away and distances himself; and when evil touches him, he is ever despairing.
١٧:٨٤
قُلْ Say qul
Say
كُلٌّۭ Each kullun
Each
يَعْمَلُ works yaʿmalu
works
عَلَىٰ on ʿalā
on
شَاكِلَتِهِۦ his manner shākilatihi
his manner
فَرَبُّكُمْ but your Lord farabbukum
but your Lord
أَعْلَمُ (is) most knowing aʿlamu
(is) most knowing
بِمَنْ of who biman
of who
هُوَ [he] huwa
[he]
أَهْدَىٰ (is) best guided ahdā
(is) best guided
سَبِيلًۭا (in) way sabīlan
(in) way
٨٤ (84)
(84)
Say, "Each works according to his manner, but your Lord is most knowing of who is best guided in way."
١٧:٨٥
وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ And they ask you wayasalūnaka
And they ask you
عَنِ concerning ʿani
concerning
ٱلرُّوحِ ۖ the soul l-rūḥi
the soul
قُلِ Say quli
Say
ٱلرُّوحُ The soul l-rūḥu
The soul
مِنْ (is) of min
(is) of
أَمْرِ (the) affair amri
(the) affair
رَبِّى (of) my Lord rabbī
(of) my Lord
وَمَآ And not wamā
And not
أُوتِيتُم you have been given ūtītum
you have been given
مِّنَ of mina
of
ٱلْعِلْمِ the knowledge l-ʿil'mi
the knowledge
إِلَّا except illā
except
قَلِيلًۭا a little qalīlan
a little
٨٥ (85)
(85)
And they ask you, [O Muḥammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair [i.e., concern] of my Lord. And you [i.e., mankind] have not been given of knowledge except a little."
١٧:٨٦
وَلَئِن And if wala-in
And if
شِئْنَا We willed shi'nā
We willed
لَنَذْهَبَنَّ We (would) have surely taken away lanadhhabanna
We (would) have surely taken away
بِٱلَّذِىٓ that which bi-alladhī
that which
أَوْحَيْنَآ We have revealed awḥaynā
We have revealed
إِلَيْكَ to you ilayka
to you
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
لَا not
not
تَجِدُ you would find tajidu
you would find
لَكَ for you laka
for you
بِهِۦ concerning it bihi
concerning it
عَلَيْنَا against Us ʿalaynā
against Us
وَكِيلًا any advocate wakīlan
any advocate
٨٦ (86)
(86)
And if We willed, We could surely do away with that which We revealed to you. Then you would not find for yourself concerning it an advocate against Us.
١٧:٨٧
إِلَّا Except illā
Except
رَحْمَةًۭ a mercy raḥmatan
a mercy
مِّن from min
from
رَّبِّكَ ۚ your Lord rabbika
your Lord
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
فَضْلَهُۥ His Bounty faḍlahu
His Bounty
كَانَ is kāna
is
عَلَيْكَ upon you ʿalayka
upon you
كَبِيرًۭا great kabīran
great
٨٧ (87)
(87)
Except [We have left it with you] as a mercy from your Lord. Indeed, His favor upon you has ever been great.
١٧:٨٨
قُل Say qul
Say
لَّئِنِ If la-ini
If
ٱجْتَمَعَتِ gathered ij'tamaʿati
gathered
ٱلْإِنسُ the mankind l-insu
the mankind
وَٱلْجِنُّ and the jinn wal-jinu
and the jinn
عَلَىٰٓ to ʿalā
to
أَن [that] an
[that]
يَأْتُوا۟ bring yatū
bring
بِمِثْلِ the like bimith'li
the like
هَـٰذَا (of) this hādhā
(of) this
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ Quran l-qur'āni
Quran
لَا not
not
يَأْتُونَ they (could) bring yatūna
they (could) bring
بِمِثْلِهِۦ the like of it bimith'lihi
the like of it
وَلَوْ even if walaw
even if
كَانَ were kāna
were
بَعْضُهُمْ some of them baʿḍuhum
some of them
لِبَعْضٍۢ to some others libaʿḍin
to some others
ظَهِيرًۭا assistants ẓahīran
assistants
٨٨ (88)
(88)
Say, "If mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur’ān, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to each other assistants."
١٧:٨٩
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad
And verily
صَرَّفْنَا We have explained ṣarrafnā
We have explained
لِلنَّاسِ to mankind lilnnāsi
to mankind
فِى in
in
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ Quran l-qur'āni
Quran
مِن from min
from
كُلِّ every kulli
every
مَثَلٍۢ example mathalin
example
فَأَبَىٰٓ but refused fa-abā
but refused
أَكْثَرُ most aktharu
most
ٱلنَّاسِ (of) the mankind l-nāsi
(of) the mankind
إِلَّا except illā
except
كُفُورًۭا disbelief kufūran
disbelief
٨٩ (89)
(89)
And We have certainly diversified for the people in this Qur’ān from every [kind of] example, but most of the people refused except disbelief.
١٧:٩٠
وَقَالُوا۟ And they say waqālū
And they say
لَن Never lan
Never
نُّؤْمِنَ we will believe nu'mina
we will believe
لَكَ in you laka
in you
حَتَّىٰ until ḥattā
until
تَفْجُرَ you cause to gush forth tafjura
you cause to gush forth
لَنَا for us lanā
for us
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
يَنۢبُوعًا a spring yanbūʿan
a spring
٩٠ (90)
(90)
And they say, "We will not believe you until you break open for us from the ground a spring
١٧:٩١
أَوْ Or aw
Or
تَكُونَ you have takūna
you have
لَكَ for you laka
for you
جَنَّةٌۭ a garden jannatun
a garden
مِّن of min
of
نَّخِيلٍۢ date-palms nakhīlin
date-palms
وَعِنَبٍۢ and grapes waʿinabin
and grapes
فَتُفَجِّرَ and cause to gush forth fatufajjira
and cause to gush forth
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرَ the rivers l-anhāra
the rivers
خِلَـٰلَهَا within them khilālahā
within them
تَفْجِيرًا abundantly tafjīran
abundantly
٩١ (91)
(91)
Or [until] you have a garden of palm trees and grapes and make rivers gush forth within them in force [and abundance]
١٧:٩٢
أَوْ Or aw
Or
تُسْقِطَ you cause to fall tus'qiṭa
you cause to fall
ٱلسَّمَآءَ the sky l-samāa
the sky
كَمَا as kamā
as
زَعَمْتَ you have claimed zaʿamta
you have claimed
عَلَيْنَا upon us ʿalaynā
upon us
كِسَفًا (in) pieces kisafan
(in) pieces
أَوْ or aw
or
تَأْتِىَ you bring tatiya
you bring
بِٱللَّهِ Allah bil-lahi
Allah
وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ and the Angels wal-malāikati
and the Angels
قَبِيلًا before (us) qabīlan
before (us)
٩٢ (92)
(92)
Or you make the heaven fall upon us in fragments as you have claimed or you bring Allāh and the angels before [us]
١٧:٩٣
أَوْ Or aw
Or
يَكُونَ is yakūna
is
لَكَ for you laka
for you
بَيْتٌۭ a house baytun
a house
مِّن of min
of
زُخْرُفٍ ornament zukh'rufin
ornament
أَوْ or aw
or
تَرْقَىٰ you ascend tarqā
you ascend
فِى into
into
ٱلسَّمَآءِ the sky l-samāi
the sky
وَلَن And never walan
And never
نُّؤْمِنَ we will believe nu'mina
we will believe
لِرُقِيِّكَ in your ascension liruqiyyika
in your ascension
حَتَّىٰ until ḥattā
until
تُنَزِّلَ you bring down tunazzila
you bring down
عَلَيْنَا to us ʿalaynā
to us
كِتَـٰبًۭا a book kitāban
a book
نَّقْرَؤُهُۥ ۗ we could read it naqra-uhu
we could read it
قُلْ Say qul
Say
سُبْحَانَ Glorified (is) sub'ḥāna
Glorified (is)
رَبِّى my Lord rabbī
my Lord
هَلْ What hal
What
كُنتُ am I kuntu
am I
إِلَّا but illā
but
بَشَرًۭا a human basharan
a human
رَّسُولًۭا a Messenger rasūlan
a Messenger
٩٣ (93)
(93)
Or you have a house of ornament [i.e., gold] or you ascend into the sky. And [even then], we will not believe in your ascension until you bring down to us a book we may read." Say, "Exalted is my Lord! Was I ever but a human messenger?"
١٧:٩٤
وَمَا And what wamā
And what
مَنَعَ prevented manaʿa
prevented
ٱلنَّاسَ the people l-nāsa
the people
أَن that an
that
يُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ they believe yu'minū
they believe
إِذْ when idh
when
جَآءَهُمُ came to them jāahumu
came to them
ٱلْهُدَىٰٓ the guidance l-hudā
the guidance
إِلَّآ except illā
except
أَن that an
that
قَالُوٓا۟ they said qālū
they said
أَبَعَثَ Has Allah sent abaʿatha
Has Allah sent
ٱللَّهُ Has Allah sent l-lahu
Has Allah sent
بَشَرًۭا a human basharan
a human
رَّسُولًۭا Messenger rasūlan
Messenger
٩٤ (94)
(94)
And what prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them except that they said, "Has Allāh sent a human messenger?"
١٧:٩٥
قُل Say qul
Say
لَّوْ If law
If
كَانَ (there) were kāna
(there) were
فِى in
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
مَلَـٰٓئِكَةٌۭ Angels malāikatun
Angels
يَمْشُونَ walking yamshūna
walking
مُطْمَئِنِّينَ securely muṭ'ma-innīna
securely
لَنَزَّلْنَا surely We (would) have sent down lanazzalnā
surely We (would) have sent down
عَلَيْهِم to them ʿalayhim
to them
مِّنَ from mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ the heaven l-samāi
the heaven
مَلَكًۭا an Angel malakan
an Angel
رَّسُولًۭا (as) a Messenger rasūlan
(as) a Messenger
٩٥ (95)
(95)
Say, "If there were upon the earth angels walking securely, We would have sent down to them from the heaven an angel [as a] messenger."
١٧:٩٦
قُلْ Say qul
Say
كَفَىٰ Sufficient is kafā
Sufficient is
بِٱللَّهِ Allah bil-lahi
Allah
شَهِيدًۢا (as) a witness shahīdan
(as) a witness
بَيْنِى between me baynī
between me
وَبَيْنَكُمْ ۚ and between you wabaynakum
and between you
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, He innahu
Indeed, He
كَانَ is kāna
is
بِعِبَادِهِۦ of His slaves biʿibādihi
of His slaves
خَبِيرًۢا All-Aware khabīran
All-Aware
بَصِيرًۭا All-Seer baṣīran
All-Seer
٩٦ (96)
(96)
Say, "Sufficient is Allāh as Witness between me and you. Indeed He is ever, concerning His servants, Aware and Seeing."
١٧:٩٧
وَمَن And whoever waman
And whoever
يَهْدِ Allah guides yahdi
Allah guides
ٱللَّهُ Allah guides l-lahu
Allah guides
فَهُوَ then he (is) fahuwa
then he (is)
ٱلْمُهْتَدِ ۖ the guided one l-muh'tadi
the guided one
وَمَن and whoever waman
and whoever
يُضْلِلْ He lets go astray yuḍ'lil
He lets go astray
فَلَن then never falan
then never
تَجِدَ you will find tajida
you will find
لَهُمْ for them lahum
for them
أَوْلِيَآءَ protectors awliyāa
protectors
مِن besides Him min
besides Him
دُونِهِۦ ۖ besides Him dūnihi
besides Him
وَنَحْشُرُهُمْ And We will gather them wanaḥshuruhum
And We will gather them
يَوْمَ (on) the Day yawma
(on) the Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
عَلَىٰ on ʿalā
on
وُجُوهِهِمْ their faces wujūhihim
their faces
عُمْيًۭا blind ʿum'yan
blind
وَبُكْمًۭا and dumb wabuk'man
and dumb
وَصُمًّۭا ۖ and deaf waṣumman
and deaf
مَّأْوَىٰهُمْ Their abode mawāhum
Their abode
جَهَنَّمُ ۖ (is) Hell jahannamu
(is) Hell
كُلَّمَا every time kullamā
every time
خَبَتْ it subsides khabat
it subsides
زِدْنَـٰهُمْ We (will) increase (for) them zid'nāhum
We (will) increase (for) them
سَعِيرًۭا the blazing fire saʿīran
the blazing fire
٩٧ (97)
(97)
And whoever Allāh guides - he is the [rightly] guided; and whoever He sends astray - you will never find for them protectors besides Him, and We will gather them on the Day of Resurrection [fallen] on their faces - blind, dumb and deaf. Their refuge is Hell; every time it subsides, We increase [for] them blazing fire.
١٧:٩٨
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika
That
جَزَآؤُهُم (is) their recompense jazāuhum
(is) their recompense
بِأَنَّهُمْ because they bi-annahum
because they
كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieved kafarū
disbelieved
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا in Our Verses biāyātinā
in Our Verses
وَقَالُوٓا۟ and said waqālū
and said
أَءِذَا When a-idhā
When
كُنَّا we are kunnā
we are
عِظَـٰمًۭا bones ʿiẓāman
bones
وَرُفَـٰتًا and crumbled particles warufātan
and crumbled particles
أَءِنَّا will we a-innā
will we
لَمَبْعُوثُونَ surely (be) resurrected lamabʿūthūna
surely (be) resurrected
خَلْقًۭا (as) a creation khalqan
(as) a creation
جَدِيدًا new jadīdan
new
٩٨ (98)
(98)
That is their recompense because they disbelieved in Our verses and said, "When we are bones and crumbled particles, will we [truly] be resurrected [in] a new creation?"
١٧:٩٩
۞ أَوَلَمْ Do not awalam
Do not
يَرَوْا۟ they see yaraw
they see
أَنَّ that anna
that
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
ٱلَّذِى the One Who alladhī
the One Who
خَلَقَ created khalaqa
created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ and the earth wal-arḍa
and the earth
قَادِرٌ (is) Able qādirun
(is) Able
عَلَىٰٓ [on] ʿalā
[on]
أَن to an
to
يَخْلُقَ create yakhluqa
create
مِثْلَهُمْ the like of them mith'lahum
the like of them
وَجَعَلَ And He has made wajaʿala
And He has made
لَهُمْ for them lahum
for them
أَجَلًۭا a term ajalan
a term
لَّا no
no
رَيْبَ doubt rayba
doubt
فِيهِ in it fīhi
in it
فَأَبَى But refused fa-abā
But refused
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ the wrongdoers l-ẓālimūna
the wrongdoers
إِلَّا except illā
except
كُفُورًۭا disbelief kufūran
disbelief
٩٩ (99)
(99)
Do they not see that Allāh, who created the heavens and earth, is [the one] Able to create the likes of them? And He has appointed for them a term, about which there is no doubt. But the wrongdoers refuse except disbelief.
١٧:١٠٠
قُل Say qul
Say
لَّوْ If law
If
أَنتُمْ you antum
you
تَمْلِكُونَ possess tamlikūna
possess
خَزَآئِنَ the treasures khazāina
the treasures
رَحْمَةِ (of) the Mercy raḥmati
(of) the Mercy
رَبِّىٓ (of) my Lord rabbī
(of) my Lord
إِذًۭا then idhan
then
لَّأَمْسَكْتُمْ surely you would withhold la-amsaktum
surely you would withhold
خَشْيَةَ (out of) fear khashyata
(out of) fear
ٱلْإِنفَاقِ ۚ (of) spending l-infāqi
(of) spending
وَكَانَ And is wakāna
And is
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ man l-insānu
man
قَتُورًۭا stingy qatūran
stingy
١٠٠ (100)
(100)
Say [to them], "If you possessed the depositories of the mercy of my Lord, then you would withhold out of fear of spending." And ever has man been stingy.
١٧:١٠١
وَلَقَدْ And certainly walaqad
And certainly
ءَاتَيْنَا We had given ātaynā
We had given
مُوسَىٰ Musa mūsā
Musa
تِسْعَ nine tis'ʿa
nine
ءَايَـٰتٍۭ Signs āyātin
Signs
بَيِّنَـٰتٍۢ ۖ clear bayyinātin
clear
فَسْـَٔلْ so ask fasal
so ask
بَنِىٓ (the) Children of Israel banī
(the) Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ (the) Children of Israel is'rāīla
(the) Children of Israel
إِذْ when idh
when
جَآءَهُمْ he came to them jāahum
he came to them
فَقَالَ then said faqāla
then said
لَهُۥ to him lahu

فِرْعَوْنُ Firaun fir'ʿawnu
Firaun
إِنِّى Indeed, I innī
Indeed, I
لَأَظُنُّكَ [I] think you la-aẓunnuka
[I] think you
يَـٰمُوسَىٰ O Musa yāmūsā
O Musa
مَسْحُورًۭا (you are) bewitched masḥūran
(you are) bewitched
١٠١ (101)
(101)
And We had certainly given Moses nine evident signs, so ask the Children of Israel [about] when he came to them and Pharaoh said to him, "Indeed I think, O Moses, that you are affected by magic."
١٧:١٠٢
قَالَ He said qāla
He said
لَقَدْ Verily laqad
Verily
عَلِمْتَ you have known ʿalim'ta
you have known
مَآ none
none
أَنزَلَ has sent down anzala
has sent down
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ these hāulāi
these
إِلَّا except illā
except
رَبُّ (the) Lord rabbu
(the) Lord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
بَصَآئِرَ (as) evidence baṣāira
(as) evidence
وَإِنِّى and indeed, I wa-innī
and indeed, I
لَأَظُنُّكَ [I] surely think you la-aẓunnuka
[I] surely think you
يَـٰفِرْعَوْنُ O Firaun yāfir'ʿawnu
O Firaun
مَثْبُورًۭا (you are) destroyed mathbūran
(you are) destroyed
١٠٢ (102)
(102)
[Moses] said, "You have already known that none has sent down these [signs] except the Lord of the heavens and the earth as evidence, and indeed I think, O Pharaoh, that you are destroyed."
١٧:١٠٣
فَأَرَادَ So he intended fa-arāda
So he intended
أَن to an
to
يَسْتَفِزَّهُم drive them out yastafizzahum
drive them out
مِّنَ from mina
from
ٱلْأَرْضِ the land l-arḍi
the land
فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُ but We drowned him fa-aghraqnāhu
but We drowned him
وَمَن and who waman
and who
مَّعَهُۥ (were) with him maʿahu
(were) with him
جَمِيعًۭا all jamīʿan
all
١٠٣ (103)
(103)
So he intended to drive them from the land, but We drowned him and those with him all together.
١٧:١٠٤
وَقُلْنَا And We said waqul'nā
And We said
مِنۢ after him min
after him
بَعْدِهِۦ after him baʿdihi
after him
لِبَنِىٓ to the Children of Israel libanī
to the Children of Israel
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ to the Children of Israel is'rāīla
to the Children of Israel
ٱسْكُنُوا۟ Dwell us'kunū
Dwell
ٱلْأَرْضَ (in) the land l-arḍa
(in) the land
فَإِذَا then when fa-idhā
then when
جَآءَ comes jāa
comes
وَعْدُ (the) promise waʿdu
(the) promise
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ (of) the Hereafter l-ākhirati
(of) the Hereafter
جِئْنَا We will bring ji'nā
We will bring
بِكُمْ you bikum
you
لَفِيفًۭا (as) a mixed crowd lafīfan
(as) a mixed crowd
١٠٤ (104)
(104)
And We said after him [i.e., Pharaoh] to the Children of Israel, "Dwell in the land, and when there comes the promise [i.e., appointment] of the Hereafter, We will bring you forth in [one] gathering."
١٧:١٠٥
وَبِٱلْحَقِّ And with the truth wabil-ḥaqi
And with the truth
أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ We sent it down anzalnāhu
We sent it down
وَبِٱلْحَقِّ and with the truth wabil-ḥaqi
and with the truth
نَزَلَ ۗ it descended nazala
it descended
وَمَآ And not wamā
And not
أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ We sent you arsalnāka
We sent you
إِلَّا except illā
except
مُبَشِّرًۭا (as) a bearer of glad tidings mubashiran
(as) a bearer of glad tidings
وَنَذِيرًۭا and a warner wanadhīran
and a warner
١٠٥ (105)
(105)
And with the truth We have sent it [i.e., the Qur’ān] down, and with the truth it has descended. And We have not sent you, [O Muḥammad], except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner.
١٧:١٠٦
وَقُرْءَانًۭا And the Quran waqur'ānan
And the Quran
فَرَقْنَـٰهُ We have divided faraqnāhu
We have divided
لِتَقْرَأَهُۥ that you might recite it litaqra-ahu
that you might recite it
عَلَى to ʿalā
to
ٱلنَّاسِ the people l-nāsi
the people
عَلَىٰ at ʿalā
at
مُكْثٍۢ intervals muk'thin
intervals
وَنَزَّلْنَـٰهُ And We have revealed it wanazzalnāhu
And We have revealed it
تَنزِيلًۭا (in) stages tanzīlan
(in) stages
١٠٦ (106)
(106)
And [it is] a Qur’ān which We have separated [by intervals] that you might recite it to the people over a prolonged period. And We have sent it down progressively.
١٧:١٠٧
قُلْ Say qul
Say
ءَامِنُوا۟ Believe āminū
Believe
بِهِۦٓ in it bihi
in it
أَوْ or aw
or
لَا (do) not
(do) not
تُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ ۚ believe tu'minū
believe
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
أُوتُوا۟ were given ūtū
were given
ٱلْعِلْمَ the knowledge l-ʿil'ma
the knowledge
مِن before it min
before it
قَبْلِهِۦٓ before it qablihi
before it
إِذَا when idhā
when
يُتْلَىٰ it is recited yut'lā
it is recited
عَلَيْهِمْ to them ʿalayhim
to them
يَخِرُّونَ they fall yakhirrūna
they fall
لِلْأَذْقَانِ on their faces lil'adhqāni
on their faces
سُجَّدًۭا (in) prostration sujjadan
(in) prostration
١٠٧ (107)
(107)
Say, "Believe in it or do not believe." Indeed, those who were given knowledge before it - when it is recited to them, they fall upon their faces in prostration,
١٧:١٠٨
وَيَقُولُونَ And they say wayaqūlūna
And they say
سُبْحَـٰنَ Glory be to sub'ḥāna
Glory be to
رَبِّنَآ our Lord rabbinā
our Lord
إِن Indeed in
Indeed
كَانَ is kāna
is
وَعْدُ (the) promise waʿdu
(the) promise
رَبِّنَا (of) our Lord rabbinā
(of) our Lord
لَمَفْعُولًۭا surely fulfilled lamafʿūlan
surely fulfilled
١٠٨ (108)
(108)
And they say, "Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, the promise of our Lord has been fulfilled."
١٧:١٠٩
وَيَخِرُّونَ And they fall wayakhirrūna
And they fall
لِلْأَذْقَانِ on their faces lil'adhqāni
on their faces
يَبْكُونَ weeping yabkūna
weeping
وَيَزِيدُهُمْ and it increases them wayazīduhum
and it increases them
خُشُوعًۭا ۩ (in) humility khushūʿan
(in) humility
١٠٩ (109)
(109)
And they fall upon their faces weeping, and it [i.e., the Qur’ān] increases them in humble submission.
١٧:١١٠
قُلِ Say quli
Say
ٱدْعُوا۟ Invoke id'ʿū
Invoke
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
أَوِ or awi
or
ٱدْعُوا۟ invoke id'ʿū
invoke
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنَ ۖ the Most Gracious l-raḥmāna
the Most Gracious
أَيًّۭا By whatever (name) ayyan
By whatever (name)
مَّا By whatever (name)
By whatever (name)
تَدْعُوا۟ you invoke tadʿū
you invoke
فَلَهُ to Him (belongs) falahu
to Him (belongs)
ٱلْأَسْمَآءُ the Most Beautiful Names l-asmāu
the Most Beautiful Names
ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۚ the Most Beautiful Names l-ḥus'nā
the Most Beautiful Names
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَجْهَرْ be loud tajhar
be loud
بِصَلَاتِكَ in your prayers biṣalātika
in your prayers
وَلَا and not walā
and not
تُخَافِتْ be silent tukhāfit
be silent
بِهَا therein bihā
therein
وَٱبْتَغِ but seek wa-ib'taghi
but seek
بَيْنَ between bayna
between
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
سَبِيلًۭا a way sabīlan
a way
١١٠ (110)
(110)
Say, "Call upon Allāh or call upon the Most Merciful [ar-Raḥmān]. Whichever [name] you call - to Him belong the best names." And do not recite [too] loudly in your prayer or [too] quietly but seek between that an [intermediate] way.
١٧:١١١
وَقُلِ And say waquli
And say
ٱلْحَمْدُ All Praise l-ḥamdu
All Praise
لِلَّهِ (is) for Allah lillahi
(is) for Allah
ٱلَّذِى the One Who alladhī
the One Who
لَمْ has not taken lam
has not taken
يَتَّخِذْ has not taken yattakhidh
has not taken
وَلَدًۭا a son waladan
a son
وَلَمْ and not walam
and not
يَكُن is yakun
is
لَّهُۥ for Him lahu
for Him
شَرِيكٌۭ a partner sharīkun
a partner
فِى in
in
ٱلْمُلْكِ the dominion l-mul'ki
the dominion
وَلَمْ and not walam
and not
يَكُن is yakun
is
لَّهُۥ for Him lahu
for Him
وَلِىٌّۭ any protector waliyyun
any protector
مِّنَ out of mina
out of
ٱلذُّلِّ ۖ weakness l-dhuli
weakness
وَكَبِّرْهُ And magnify Him wakabbir'hu
And magnify Him
تَكْبِيرًۢا (with all) magnificence takbīran
(with all) magnificence
١١١ (111)
(111)
And say, "Praise to Allāh, who has not taken a son and has had no partner in [His] dominion and has no [need of a] protector out of weakness; and glorify Him with [great] glorification."
