Bismillah
بِسْمِ In (the) name bis'mi
In (the) name
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمِ the Most Merciful l-raḥīmi
the Most Merciful
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
49:1
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you who believe yāayyuhā
O you who believe
ٱلَّذِينَ O you who believe alladhīna
O you who believe
ءَامَنُوا۟ O you who believe āmanū
O you who believe
لَا (Do) not
(Do) not
تُقَدِّمُوا۟ put (yourselves) forward tuqaddimū
put (yourselves) forward
بَيْنَ before Allah bayna
before Allah
يَدَىِ before Allah yadayi
before Allah
ٱللَّهِ before Allah l-lahi
before Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦ ۖ and His Messenger warasūlihi
and His Messenger
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ and fear Allah wa-ittaqū
and fear Allah
ٱللَّهَ ۚ and fear Allah l-laha
and fear Allah
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
سَمِيعٌ (is) All-Hearer samīʿun
(is) All-Hearer
عَلِيمٌۭ All-Knower ʿalīmun
All-Knower
١ (1)
(1)
O you who have believed, do not put [yourselves] before Allāh and His Messenger but fear Allāh. Indeed, Allāh is Hearing and Knowing.
49:2
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you who believe yāayyuhā
O you who believe
ٱلَّذِينَ O you who believe alladhīna
O you who believe
ءَامَنُوا۟ O you who believe āmanū
O you who believe
لَا (Do) not
(Do) not
تَرْفَعُوٓا۟ raise tarfaʿū
raise
أَصْوَٰتَكُمْ your voices aṣwātakum
your voices
فَوْقَ above fawqa
above
صَوْتِ (the) voice ṣawti
(the) voice
ٱلنَّبِىِّ (of) the Prophet l-nabiyi
(of) the Prophet
وَلَا and (do) not walā
and (do) not
تَجْهَرُوا۟ be loud tajharū
be loud
لَهُۥ to him lahu
to him
بِٱلْقَوْلِ in speech bil-qawli
in speech
كَجَهْرِ like (the) loudness kajahri
like (the) loudness
بَعْضِكُمْ (of) some of you baʿḍikum
(of) some of you
لِبَعْضٍ to others libaʿḍin
to others
أَن lest an
lest
تَحْبَطَ become worthless taḥbaṭa
become worthless
أَعْمَـٰلُكُمْ your deeds aʿmālukum
your deeds
وَأَنتُمْ while you wa-antum
while you
لَا (do) not
(do) not
تَشْعُرُونَ perceive tashʿurūna
perceive
٢ (2)
(2)
O you who have believed, do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet or be loud to him in speech like the loudness of some of you to others, lest your deeds become worthless while you perceive not.
49:3
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
يَغُضُّونَ lower yaghuḍḍūna
lower
أَصْوَٰتَهُمْ their voices aṣwātahum
their voices
عِندَ (in) presence ʿinda
(in) presence
رَسُولِ (of the) Messenger of Allah rasūli
(of the) Messenger of Allah
ٱللَّهِ (of the) Messenger of Allah l-lahi
(of the) Messenger of Allah
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ those ulāika
those
ٱلَّذِينَ (are) the ones alladhīna
(are) the ones
ٱمْتَحَنَ Allah has tested im'taḥana
Allah has tested
ٱللَّهُ Allah has tested l-lahu
Allah has tested
قُلُوبَهُمْ their hearts qulūbahum
their hearts
لِلتَّقْوَىٰ ۚ for righteousness lilttaqwā
for righteousness
لَهُم For them lahum
For them
مَّغْفِرَةٌۭ (is) forgiveness maghfiratun
(is) forgiveness
وَأَجْرٌ and a reward wa-ajrun
and a reward
عَظِيمٌ great ʿaẓīmun
great
٣ (3)
(3)
Indeed, those who lower their voices before the Messenger of Allāh - they are the ones whose hearts Allāh has tested for righteousness. For them is forgiveness and great reward.
49:4
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
يُنَادُونَكَ call you yunādūnaka
call you
مِن from min
from
وَرَآءِ behind warāi
behind
ٱلْحُجُرَٰتِ the private chambers l-ḥujurāti
the private chambers
أَكْثَرُهُمْ most of them aktharuhum
most of them
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يَعْقِلُونَ understand yaʿqilūna
understand
٤ (4)
(4)
Indeed, those who call you, [O Muḥammad], from behind the chambers - most of them do not use reason.
49:5
وَلَوْ And if walaw
And if
أَنَّهُمْ they annahum
they
صَبَرُوا۟ had been patient ṣabarū
had been patient
حَتَّىٰ until ḥattā
until
تَخْرُجَ you came out takhruja
you came out
إِلَيْهِمْ to them ilayhim
to them
لَكَانَ certainly it would be lakāna
certainly it would be
خَيْرًۭا better khayran
better
لَّهُمْ ۚ for them lahum
for them
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
غَفُورٌۭ (is) Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۭ Most Merciful raḥīmun
Most Merciful
٥ (5)
(5)
And if they had been patient until you [could] come out to them, it would have been better for them. But Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
49:6
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you who believe yāayyuhā
O you who believe
ٱلَّذِينَ O you who believe alladhīna
O you who believe
ءَامَنُوٓا۟ O you who believe āmanū
O you who believe
إِن If in
If
جَآءَكُمْ comes to you jāakum
comes to you
فَاسِقٌۢ a wicked person fāsiqun
a wicked person
بِنَبَإٍۢ with information binaba-in
with information
فَتَبَيَّنُوٓا۟ investigate fatabayyanū
investigate
أَن lest an
lest
تُصِيبُوا۟ you harm tuṣībū
you harm
قَوْمًۢا a people qawman
a people
بِجَهَـٰلَةٍۢ in ignorance bijahālatin
in ignorance
فَتُصْبِحُوا۟ then you become fatuṣ'biḥū
then you become
عَلَىٰ over ʿalā
over
مَا what
what
فَعَلْتُمْ you have done faʿaltum
you have done
نَـٰدِمِينَ regretful nādimīna
regretful
٦ (6)
(6)
O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate, lest you harm a people out of ignorance and become, over what you have done, regretful.
49:7
وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟ And know wa-iʿ'lamū
And know
أَنَّ that anna
that
فِيكُمْ among you fīkum
among you
رَسُولَ (is the) Messenger of Allah rasūla
(is the) Messenger of Allah
ٱللَّهِ ۚ (is the) Messenger of Allah l-lahi
(is the) Messenger of Allah
لَوْ If law
If
يُطِيعُكُمْ he were to obey you yuṭīʿukum
he were to obey you
فِى in
in
كَثِيرٍۢ much kathīrin
much
مِّنَ of mina
of
ٱلْأَمْرِ the matter l-amri
the matter
لَعَنِتُّمْ surely you would be in difficulty laʿanittum
surely you would be in difficulty
وَلَـٰكِنَّ but walākinna
but
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
حَبَّبَ has endeared ḥabbaba
has endeared
إِلَيْكُمُ to you ilaykumu
to you
ٱلْإِيمَـٰنَ the Faith l-īmāna
the Faith
وَزَيَّنَهُۥ and has made it pleasing wazayyanahu
and has made it pleasing
فِى in
in
قُلُوبِكُمْ your hearts qulūbikum
your hearts
وَكَرَّهَ and has made hateful wakarraha
and has made hateful
إِلَيْكُمُ to you ilaykumu
to you
ٱلْكُفْرَ disbelief l-kuf'ra
disbelief
وَٱلْفُسُوقَ and defiance wal-fusūqa
and defiance
وَٱلْعِصْيَانَ ۚ and disobedience wal-ʿiṣ'yāna
and disobedience
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ulāika
Those
هُمُ (are) they humu
(are) they
ٱلرَّٰشِدُونَ the guided ones l-rāshidūna
the guided ones
٧ (7)
(7)
And know that among you is the Messenger of Allāh. If he were to obey you in much of the matter, you would be in difficulty, but Allāh has endeared to you the faith and has made it pleasing in your hearts and has made hateful to you disbelief, defiance and disobedience. Those are the [rightly] guided.
49:8
فَضْلًۭا A Bounty faḍlan
A Bounty
مِّنَ from Allah mina
from Allah
ٱللَّهِ from Allah l-lahi
from Allah
وَنِعْمَةًۭ ۚ and favor waniʿ'matan
and favor
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
عَلِيمٌ (is) All-Knower ʿalīmun
(is) All-Knower
حَكِيمٌۭ All-Wise ḥakīmun
All-Wise
٨ (8)
(8)
[It is] as bounty from Allāh and favor. And Allāh is Knowing and Wise.
49:9
وَإِن And if wa-in
And if
طَآئِفَتَانِ two parties ṭāifatāni
two parties
مِنَ among mina
among
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ the believers l-mu'minīna
the believers
ٱقْتَتَلُوا۟ fight iq'tatalū
fight
فَأَصْلِحُوا۟ then make peace fa-aṣliḥū
then make peace
بَيْنَهُمَا ۖ between both of them baynahumā
between both of them
فَإِنۢ But if fa-in
But if
بَغَتْ oppresses baghat
oppresses
إِحْدَىٰهُمَا one of them iḥ'dāhumā
one of them
عَلَى on ʿalā
on
ٱلْأُخْرَىٰ the other l-ukh'rā
the other
فَقَـٰتِلُوا۟ then fight faqātilū
then fight
ٱلَّتِى one which allatī
one which
تَبْغِى oppresses tabghī
oppresses
حَتَّىٰ until ḥattā
until
تَفِىٓءَ it returns tafīa
it returns
إِلَىٰٓ to ilā
to
أَمْرِ (the) command amri
(the) command
ٱللَّهِ ۚ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
فَإِن Then if fa-in
Then if
فَآءَتْ it returns fāat
it returns
فَأَصْلِحُوا۟ then make peace fa-aṣliḥū
then make peace
بَيْنَهُمَا between them baynahumā
between them
بِٱلْعَدْلِ with justice bil-ʿadli
with justice
وَأَقْسِطُوٓا۟ ۖ and act justly wa-aqsiṭū
and act justly
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
يُحِبُّ loves yuḥibbu
loves
ٱلْمُقْسِطِينَ those who act justly l-muq'siṭīna
those who act justly
٩ (9)
(9)
And if two factions among the believers should fight, then make settlement between the two. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the ordinance of Allāh. And if it returns, then make settlement between them in justice and act justly. Indeed, Allāh loves those who act justly.
49:10
إِنَّمَا Only innamā
Only
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ the believers l-mu'minūna
the believers
إِخْوَةٌۭ (are) brothers ikh'watun
(are) brothers
فَأَصْلِحُوا۟ so make peace fa-aṣliḥū
so make peace
بَيْنَ between bayna
between
أَخَوَيْكُمْ ۚ your brothers akhawaykum
your brothers
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ and fear Allah wa-ittaqū
and fear Allah
ٱللَّهَ and fear Allah l-laha
and fear Allah
لَعَلَّكُمْ so that you may laʿallakum
so that you may
تُرْحَمُونَ receive mercy tur'ḥamūna
receive mercy
١٠ (10)
(10)
The believers are but brothers, so make settlement between your brothers. And fear Allāh that you may receive mercy.
49:11
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you who believe yāayyuhā
O you who believe
ٱلَّذِينَ O you who believe alladhīna
O you who believe
ءَامَنُوا۟ O you who believe āmanū
O you who believe
لَا (Let) not
(Let) not
يَسْخَرْ ridicule yaskhar
ridicule
قَوْمٌۭ a people qawmun
a people
مِّن [of] min
[of]
قَوْمٍ (another) people qawmin
(another) people
عَسَىٰٓ perhaps ʿasā
perhaps
أَن that an
that
يَكُونُوا۟ they may be yakūnū
they may be
خَيْرًۭا better khayran
better
مِّنْهُمْ than them min'hum
than them
وَلَا and (let) not walā
and (let) not
نِسَآءٌۭ women nisāon
women
مِّن [of] min
[of]
نِّسَآءٍ (other) women nisāin
(other) women
عَسَىٰٓ perhaps ʿasā
perhaps
أَن that an
that
يَكُنَّ they may be yakunna
they may be
خَيْرًۭا better khayran
better
مِّنْهُنَّ ۖ than them min'hunna
than them
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَلْمِزُوٓا۟ insult talmizū
insult
أَنفُسَكُمْ yourselves anfusakum
yourselves
وَلَا and (do) not walā
and (do) not
تَنَابَزُوا۟ call each other tanābazū
call each other
بِٱلْأَلْقَـٰبِ ۖ by nicknames bil-alqābi
by nicknames
بِئْسَ Wretched is bi'sa
Wretched is
ٱلِٱسْمُ the name l-s'mu
the name
ٱلْفُسُوقُ (of) disobedience l-fusūqu
(of) disobedience
بَعْدَ after baʿda
after
ٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ ۚ the faith l-īmāni
the faith
وَمَن And whoever waman
And whoever
لَّمْ (does) not lam
(does) not
يَتُبْ repent yatub
repent
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ then those fa-ulāika
then those
هُمُ they humu
they
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ (are) the wrongdoers l-ẓālimūna
(are) the wrongdoers
١١ (11)
(11)
O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name [i.e., mention] of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers.
49:12
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you who believe yāayyuhā
O you who believe
ٱلَّذِينَ O you who believe alladhīna
O you who believe
ءَامَنُوا۟ O you who believe āmanū
O you who believe
ٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ Avoid ij'tanibū
Avoid
كَثِيرًۭا much kathīran
much
مِّنَ of mina
of
ٱلظَّنِّ the assumption l-ẓani
the assumption
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
بَعْضَ some baʿḍa
some
ٱلظَّنِّ assumption l-ẓani
assumption
إِثْمٌۭ ۖ (is) sin ith'mun
(is) sin
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَجَسَّسُوا۟ spy tajassasū
spy
وَلَا and (do) not walā
and (do) not
يَغْتَب backbite yaghtab
backbite
بَّعْضُكُم some of you baʿḍukum
some of you
بَعْضًا ۚ (to) others baʿḍan
(to) others
أَيُحِبُّ Would like ayuḥibbu
Would like
أَحَدُكُمْ one of you aḥadukum
one of you
أَن to an
to
يَأْكُلَ eat yakula
eat
لَحْمَ (the) flesh laḥma
(the) flesh
أَخِيهِ (of) his brother akhīhi
(of) his brother
مَيْتًۭا dead maytan
dead
فَكَرِهْتُمُوهُ ۚ Nay, you would hate it fakarih'tumūhu
Nay, you would hate it
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ And fear Allah wa-ittaqū
And fear Allah
ٱللَّهَ ۚ And fear Allah l-laha
And fear Allah
إِنَّ indeed inna
indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
تَوَّابٌۭ (is) Oft-Returning tawwābun
(is) Oft-Returning
رَّحِيمٌۭ Most Merciful raḥīmun
Most Merciful
١٢ (12)
(12)
O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allāh; indeed, Allāh is Accepting of Repentance and Merciful.
49:13
يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O mankind yāayyuhā
O mankind
ٱلنَّاسُ O mankind l-nāsu
O mankind
إِنَّا Indeed, We innā
Indeed, We
خَلَقْنَـٰكُم created you khalaqnākum
created you
مِّن from min
from
ذَكَرٍۢ a male dhakarin
a male
وَأُنثَىٰ and a female wa-unthā
and a female
وَجَعَلْنَـٰكُمْ and We made you wajaʿalnākum
and We made you
شُعُوبًۭا nations shuʿūban
nations
وَقَبَآئِلَ and tribes waqabāila
and tribes
لِتَعَارَفُوٓا۟ ۚ that you may know one another litaʿārafū
that you may know one another
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
أَكْرَمَكُمْ (the) most noble of you akramakum
(the) most noble of you
عِندَ near ʿinda
near
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
أَتْقَىٰكُمْ ۚ (is the) most righteous of you atqākum
(is the) most righteous of you
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
عَلِيمٌ (is) All-Knower ʿalīmun
(is) All-Knower
خَبِيرٌۭ All-Aware khabīrun
All-Aware
١٣ (13)
(13)
O mankind, indeed We have created you from male and female and made you peoples and tribes that you may know one another. Indeed, the most noble of you in the sight of Allāh is the most righteous of you. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing and Aware.
49:14
۞ قَالَتِ Say qālati
Say
ٱلْأَعْرَابُ the Bedouins l-aʿrābu
the Bedouins
ءَامَنَّا ۖ We believe āmannā
We believe
قُل Say qul
Say
لَّمْ Not lam
Not
تُؤْمِنُوا۟ you believe tu'minū
you believe
وَلَـٰكِن but walākin
but
قُولُوٓا۟ say qūlū
say
أَسْلَمْنَا We have submitted aslamnā
We have submitted
وَلَمَّا and has not yet walammā
and has not yet
يَدْخُلِ entered yadkhuli
entered
ٱلْإِيمَـٰنُ the faith l-īmānu
the faith
فِى in
in
قُلُوبِكُمْ ۖ your hearts qulūbikum
your hearts
وَإِن But if wa-in
But if
تُطِيعُوا۟ you obey tuṭīʿū
you obey
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
وَرَسُولَهُۥ and His Messenger warasūlahu
and His Messenger
لَا not
not
يَلِتْكُم He will deprive you yalit'kum
He will deprive you
مِّنْ of min
of
أَعْمَـٰلِكُمْ your deeds aʿmālikum
your deeds
شَيْـًٔا ۚ anything shayan
anything
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
غَفُورٌۭ (is) Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ Most Merciful raḥīmun
Most Merciful
١٤ (14)
(14)
The bedouins say, "We have believed." Say, "You have not [yet] believed; but say [instead], 'We have submitted,' for faith has not yet entered your hearts. And if you obey Allāh and His Messenger, He will not deprive you from your deeds of anything. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful."
49:15
إِنَّمَا Only innamā
Only
ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ the believers l-mu'minūna
the believers
ٱلَّذِينَ (are) those who alladhīna
(are) those who
ءَامَنُوا۟ believe āmanū
believe
بِٱللَّهِ in Allah bil-lahi
in Allah
وَرَسُولِهِۦ and His Messenger warasūlihi
and His Messenger
ثُمَّ then thumma
then
لَمْ (do) not lam
(do) not
يَرْتَابُوا۟ doubt yartābū
doubt
وَجَـٰهَدُوا۟ but strive wajāhadū
but strive
بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ with their wealth bi-amwālihim
with their wealth
وَأَنفُسِهِمْ and their lives wa-anfusihim
and their lives
فِى in
in
سَبِيلِ (the) way sabīli
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ ۚ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ulāika
Those
هُمُ [they] humu
[they]
ٱلصَّـٰدِقُونَ (are) the truthful l-ṣādiqūna
(are) the truthful
١٥ (15)
(15)
The believers are only the ones who have believed in Allāh and His Messenger and then doubt not but strive with their properties and their lives in the cause of Allāh. It is those who are the truthful.
49:16
قُلْ Say qul
Say
أَتُعَلِّمُونَ Will you acquaint atuʿallimūna
Will you acquaint
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
بِدِينِكُمْ with your religion bidīnikum
with your religion
وَٱللَّهُ while Allah wal-lahu
while Allah
يَعْلَمُ knows yaʿlamu
knows
مَا what
what
فِى (is) in
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَمَا and what wamā
and what
فِى (is) in
(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
بِكُلِّ of every bikulli
of every
شَىْءٍ thing shayin
thing
عَلِيمٌۭ (is) All-Knower ʿalīmun
(is) All-Knower
١٦ (16)
(16)
Say, "Would you acquaint Allāh with your religion while Allāh knows whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and Allāh is Knowing of all things?"
49:17
يَمُنُّونَ They consider (it) a favor yamunnūna
They consider (it) a favor
عَلَيْكَ to you ʿalayka
to you
أَنْ that an
that
أَسْلَمُوا۟ ۖ they have accepted Islam aslamū
they have accepted Islam
قُل Say qul
Say
لَّا (Do) not
(Do) not
تَمُنُّوا۟ consider a favor tamunnū
consider a favor
عَلَىَّ on me ʿalayya
on me
إِسْلَـٰمَكُم ۖ your Islam is'lāmakum
your Islam
بَلِ Nay bali
Nay
ٱللَّهُ Allah l-lahu
Allah
يَمُنُّ has conferred a favor yamunnu
has conferred a favor
عَلَيْكُمْ upon you ʿalaykum
upon you
أَنْ that an
that
هَدَىٰكُمْ He has guided you hadākum
He has guided you
لِلْإِيمَـٰنِ to the faith lil'īmāni
to the faith
إِن if in
if
كُنتُمْ you are kuntum
you are
صَـٰدِقِينَ truthful ṣādiqīna
truthful
١٧ (17)
(17)
They consider it a favor to you that they have accepted Islām. Say, "Do not consider your Islām a favor to me. Rather, Allāh has conferred favor upon you that He has guided you to the faith, if you should be truthful."
49:18
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
يَعْلَمُ knows yaʿlamu
knows
غَيْبَ (the) unseen ghayba
(the) unseen
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
بَصِيرٌۢ (is) All-Seer baṣīrun
(is) All-Seer
بِمَا of what bimā
of what
تَعْمَلُونَ you do taʿmalūna
you do

Indeed, Allāh knows the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth. And Allāh is Seeing of what you do.
