المدثر - القرآن

بسملة

بِسْمِ In (the) name ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ the Most Gracious ٱلرَّحِيمِ the Most Merciful

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

٧٤:١

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you ٱلْمُدَّثِّرُ who covers himself ١ (1)

O you who covers himself [with a garment],

٧٤:٢

قُمْ Stand up فَأَنذِرْ and warn ٢ (2)

Arise and warn.

٧٤:٣

وَرَبَّكَ And your Lord فَكَبِّرْ magnify ٣ (3)

And your Lord glorify.

٧٤:٤

وَثِيَابَكَ And your clothing فَطَهِّرْ purify ٤ (4)

And your clothing purify.

٧٤:٥

وَٱلرُّجْزَ And uncleanliness فَٱهْجُرْ avoid ٥ (5)

And uncleanliness avoid.

٧٤:٦

وَلَا And (do) not تَمْنُن confer favor تَسْتَكْثِرُ (to) acquire more ٦ (6)

And do not confer favor to acquire more.

٧٤:٧

وَلِرَبِّكَ And for your Lord فَٱصْبِرْ be patient ٧ (7)

But for your Lord be patient.

٧٤:٨

فَإِذَا Then when نُقِرَ is blown فِى in ٱلنَّاقُورِ the trumpet ٨ (8)

And when the trumpet is blown,

٧٤:٩

فَذَٰلِكَ That يَوْمَئِذٍۢ Day يَوْمٌ (will be) a Day عَسِيرٌ difficult ٩ (9)

That Day will be a difficult day

٧٤:١٠

عَلَى For ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ the disbelievers غَيْرُ not يَسِيرٍۢ easy ١٠ (10)

For the disbelievers - not easy.

٧٤:١١

ذَرْنِى Leave Me وَمَنْ and whom خَلَقْتُ I created وَحِيدًۭا alone ١١ (11)

Leave Me with the one I created alone

٧٤:١٢

وَجَعَلْتُ And I granted لَهُۥ to him مَالًۭا wealth مَّمْدُودًۭا extensive ١٢ (12)

And to whom I granted extensive wealth

٧٤:١٣

وَبَنِينَ And children شُهُودًۭا present ١٣ (13)

And children present [with him]

٧٤:١٤

وَمَهَّدتُّ And I spread لَهُۥ for him تَمْهِيدًۭا ease ١٤ (14)

And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life].

٧٤:١٥

ثُمَّ Then يَطْمَعُ he desires أَنْ that أَزِيدَ I (should) add more ١٥ (15)

Then he desires that I should add more.

٧٤:١٦

كَلَّآ ۖ By no means إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he كَانَ has been لِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا to Our Verses عَنِيدًۭا stubborn ١٦ (16)

No! Indeed, he has been toward Our verses obstinate.

٧٤:١٧

سَأُرْهِقُهُۥ Soon I will cover Him صَعُودًا (with) a laborious punishment ١٧ (17)

I will cover him with arduous torment.

٧٤:١٨

إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he فَكَّرَ thought وَقَدَّرَ and plotted ١٨ (18)

Indeed, he thought and deliberated.

٧٤:١٩

فَقُتِلَ So may he be destroyed كَيْفَ how قَدَّرَ he plotted ١٩ (19)

So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated.

٧٤:٢٠

ثُمَّ Then قُتِلَ may he be destroyed كَيْفَ how قَدَّرَ he plotted ٢٠ (20)

Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated.

٧٤:٢١

ثُمَّ Then نَظَرَ he looked ٢١ (21)

Then he considered [again];

٧٤:٢٢

ثُمَّ Then عَبَسَ he frowned وَبَسَرَ and scowled ٢٢ (22)

Then he frowned and scowled;

٧٤:٢٣

ثُمَّ Then أَدْبَرَ he turned back وَٱسْتَكْبَرَ and was proud ٢٣ (23)

Then he turned back and was arrogant

٧٤:٢٤

فَقَالَ Then he said إِنْ Not هَـٰذَآ (is) this إِلَّا but سِحْرٌۭ magic يُؤْثَرُ imitated ٢٤ (24)

And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others].

٧٤:٢٥

إِنْ Not هَـٰذَآ (is) this إِلَّا but قَوْلُ (the) word ٱلْبَشَرِ (of) a human being ٢٥ (25)

This is not but the word of a human being."

٧٤:٢٦

سَأُصْلِيهِ Soon I will drive him سَقَرَ (into) Hell ٢٦ (26)

I will drive him into Saqar.

٧٤:٢٧

وَمَآ And what أَدْرَىٰكَ can make you know مَا what سَقَرُ (is) Hell ٢٧ (27)

And what can make you know what is Saqar?

٧٤:٢٨

لَا Not تُبْقِى it lets remain وَلَا and not تَذَرُ it leaves ٢٨ (28)

It lets nothing remain and leaves nothing [unburned],

٧٤:٢٩

لَوَّاحَةٌۭ Scorching لِّلْبَشَرِ the human (skin) ٢٩ (29)

Altering [i.e., blackening] the skins.

٧٤:٣٠

عَلَيْهَا Over it تِسْعَةَ (are) nine عَشَرَ teen ٣٠ (30)

Over it are nineteen [angels].

٧٤:٣١

وَمَا And not جَعَلْنَآ We have made أَصْحَـٰبَ keepers ٱلنَّارِ (of) the Fire إِلَّا except مَلَـٰٓئِكَةًۭ ۙ Angels وَمَا And not جَعَلْنَا We have made عِدَّتَهُمْ their number إِلَّا except فِتْنَةًۭ (as) a trial لِّلَّذِينَ for those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve لِيَسْتَيْقِنَ that may be certain ٱلَّذِينَ those who أُوتُوا۟ were given ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Scripture وَيَزْدَادَ and may increase ٱلَّذِينَ those who ءَامَنُوٓا۟ believe إِيمَـٰنًۭا ۙ (in) faith وَلَا and not يَرْتَابَ may doubt ٱلَّذِينَ those who أُوتُوا۟ were given ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Scripture وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۙ and the believers وَلِيَقُولَ and that may say ٱلَّذِينَ those فِى in قُلُوبِهِم their hearts مَّرَضٌۭ (is) a disease وَٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ and the disbelievers مَاذَآ What أَرَادَ (does) intend ٱللَّهُ Allah بِهَـٰذَا by this مَثَلًۭا ۚ example كَذَٰلِكَ Thus يُضِلُّ does let go astray ٱللَّهُ Allah مَن whom يَشَآءُ He wills وَيَهْدِى and guides مَن whom يَشَآءُ ۚ He wills وَمَا And none يَعْلَمُ knows جُنُودَ (the) hosts رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord إِلَّا except هُوَ ۚ Him وَمَا And not هِىَ it إِلَّا (is) but ذِكْرَىٰ a reminder لِلْبَشَرِ to (the) human beings ٣١ (31)

And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is disease [i.e., hypocrisy] and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allāh intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allāh send astray whom He wills and guide whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And it [i.e., mention of the Fire] is not but a reminder to humanity.

٧٤:٣٢

كَلَّا Nay وَٱلْقَمَرِ By the moon ٣٢ (32)

No! By the moon.

٧٤:٣٣

وَٱلَّيْلِ And the night إِذْ when أَدْبَرَ it departs ٣٣ (33)

And [by] the night when it departs.

٧٤:٣٤

وَٱلصُّبْحِ And the morning إِذَآ when أَسْفَرَ it brightens ٣٤ (34)

And [by] the morning when it brightens,

٧٤:٣٥

إِنَّهَا Indeed, it لَإِحْدَى (is) surely one ٱلْكُبَرِ (of) the greatest ٣٥ (35)

Indeed, it [i.e., the Fire] is of the greatest [afflictions].

٧٤:٣٦

نَذِيرًۭا A warning لِّلْبَشَرِ to (the) human being ٣٦ (36)

As a warning to humanity -

٧٤:٣٧

لِمَن To whoever شَآءَ wills مِنكُمْ among you أَن to يَتَقَدَّمَ proceed أَوْ or يَتَأَخَّرَ stay behind ٣٧ (37)

To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind.

٧٤:٣٨

كُلُّ Every نَفْسٍۭ soul بِمَا for what كَسَبَتْ it has earned رَهِينَةٌ (is) pledged ٣٨ (38)

Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained.

٧٤:٣٩

إِلَّآ Except أَصْحَـٰبَ (the) companions ٱلْيَمِينِ (of) the right ٣٩ (39)

Except the companions of the right,.

٧٤:٤٠

فِى In جَنَّـٰتٍۢ Gardens يَتَسَآءَلُونَ asking each other ٤٠ (40)

[Who will be] in gardens, questioning each other

٧٤:٤١

عَنِ About ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ the criminals ٤١ (41)

About the criminals,

٧٤:٤٢

مَا What سَلَكَكُمْ led you فِى into سَقَرَ Hell ٤٢ (42)

[And asking them], "What put you into Saqar?"

٧٤:٤٣

قَالُوا۟ They will say لَمْ Not نَكُ we were مِنَ of ٱلْمُصَلِّينَ those who prayed ٤٣ (43)

They will say, "We were not of those who prayed,

٧٤:٤٤

وَلَمْ And not نَكُ we used to نُطْعِمُ feed ٱلْمِسْكِينَ the poor ٤٤ (44)

Nor did we used to feed the poor.

٧٤:٤٥

وَكُنَّا And we used to نَخُوضُ indulge in vain talk مَعَ with ٱلْخَآئِضِينَ the vain talkers ٤٥ (45)

And we used to enter into vain discourse with those who engaged [in it],

٧٤:٤٦

وَكُنَّا And we used to نُكَذِّبُ deny بِيَوْمِ (the) Day ٱلدِّينِ (of) the Judgment ٤٦ (46)

And we used to deny the Day of Recompense

٧٤:٤٧

حَتَّىٰٓ Until أَتَىٰنَا came to us ٱلْيَقِينُ the certainty ٤٧ (47)

Until there came to us the certainty [i.e., death]."

٧٤:٤٨

فَمَا Then not تَنفَعُهُمْ will benefit them شَفَـٰعَةُ intercession ٱلشَّـٰفِعِينَ (of) the intercessors ٤٨ (48)

So there will not benefit them the intercession of [any] intercessors.

٧٤:٤٩

فَمَا Then what لَهُمْ (is) for them عَنِ (that) from ٱلتَّذْكِرَةِ the Reminder مُعْرِضِينَ they (are) turning away ٤٩ (49)

Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away.

٧٤:٥٠

كَأَنَّهُمْ As if they (were) حُمُرٌۭ donkeys مُّسْتَنفِرَةٌۭ frightened ٥٠ (50)

As if they were alarmed donkeys.

٧٤:٥١

فَرَّتْ Fleeing مِن from قَسْوَرَةٍۭ a lion ٥١ (51)

Fleeing from a lion?

٧٤:٥٢

بَلْ Nay يُرِيدُ Desires كُلُّ every ٱمْرِئٍۢ person مِّنْهُمْ of them أَن that يُؤْتَىٰ he may be given صُحُفًۭا pages مُّنَشَّرَةًۭ spread out ٥٢ (52)

Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about.

٧٤:٥٣

كَلَّا ۖ Nay بَل But لَّا not يَخَافُونَ they fear ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَ the Hereafter ٥٣ (53)

No! But they do not fear the Hereafter.

٧٤:٥٤

كَلَّآ Nay إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, it تَذْكِرَةٌۭ (is) a Reminder ٥٤ (54)

No! Indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is a reminder.

٧٤:٥٥

فَمَن So whoever شَآءَ wills ذَكَرَهُۥ (may) pay heed to it ٥٥ (55)

Then whoever wills will remember it.

٧٤:٥٦

وَمَا And not يَذْكُرُونَ will pay heed إِلَّآ except أَن that يَشَآءَ wills ٱللَّهُ ۚ Allah هُوَ He أَهْلُ (is) worthy ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ to be feared وَأَهْلُ and worthy ٱلْمَغْفِرَةِ to forgive ٥٦ (56)

And they will not remember except that Allāh wills. He is worthy of fear and adequate for [granting] forgiveness.
