Bismillah
بِسْمِ In (the) name bis'mi
In (the) name
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمِ the Most Merciful l-raḥīmi
the Most Merciful
Au nom d'Allah, le Tout Miséricordieux, le Très Miséricordieux
18:1
ٱلْحَمْدُ All Praise al-ḥamdu
All Praise
لِلَّهِ (is) for Allah lillahi
(is) for Allah
ٱلَّذِىٓ the One Who alladhī
the One Who
أَنزَلَ (has) revealed anzala
(has) revealed
عَلَىٰ to ʿalā
to
عَبْدِهِ His slave ʿabdihi
His slave
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book l-kitāba
the Book
وَلَمْ and not walam
and not
يَجْعَل (has) made yajʿal
(has) made
لَّهُۥ in it lahu
in it
عِوَجَاۜ any crookedness ʿiwajā
any crookedness
١ (1)

Louange à Allah qui a fait descendre sur Son serviteur (Mohammed), le Livre, et n’y a point introduit de tortuosité (ambiguïté) !
18:2
قَيِّمًۭا Straight qayyiman
Straight
لِّيُنذِرَ to warn liyundhira
to warn
بَأْسًۭا (of) a punishment basan
(of) a punishment
شَدِيدًۭا severe shadīdan
severe
مِّن from min
from
لَّدُنْهُ near Him ladun'hu
near Him
وَيُبَشِّرَ and give glad tidings wayubashira
and give glad tidings
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ (to) the believers l-mu'minīna
(to) the believers
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
يَعْمَلُونَ do yaʿmalūna
do
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti
righteous deeds
أَنَّ that anna
that
لَهُمْ for them lahum
for them
أَجْرًا (is) a good reward ajran
(is) a good reward
حَسَنًۭا (is) a good reward ḥasanan
(is) a good reward
٢ (2)
(2)
[Un livre] d’une parfaite droiture pour avertir d’une sévère punition venant de Sa part et pour annoncer aux croyants qui font de bonnes œuvres qu’il y aura pour eux une belle récompense.
18:3
مَّـٰكِثِينَ (They will) abide mākithīna
(They will) abide
فِيهِ in it fīhi
in it
أَبَدًۭا forever abadan
forever
٣ (3)
(3)
où ils demeureront éternellement.
18:4
وَيُنذِرَ And to warn wayundhira
And to warn
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
قَالُوا۟ say qālū
say
ٱتَّخَذَ Allah has taken ittakhadha
Allah has taken
ٱللَّهُ Allah has taken l-lahu
Allah has taken
وَلَدًۭا a son waladan
a son
٤ (4)
(4)
et pour avertir ceux qui disent : "Allah S’est attribué un enfant."
18:5
مَّا Not
Not
لَهُم they have lahum
they have
بِهِۦ about it bihi
about it
مِنْ any min
any
عِلْمٍۢ knowledge ʿil'min
knowledge
وَلَا and not walā
and not
لِـَٔابَآئِهِمْ ۚ their forefathers liābāihim
their forefathers
كَبُرَتْ Grave (is) kaburat
Grave (is)
كَلِمَةًۭ the word kalimatan
the word
تَخْرُجُ (that) comes out takhruju
(that) comes out
مِنْ of min
of
أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ ۚ their mouths afwāhihim
their mouths
إِن Not in
Not
يَقُولُونَ they say yaqūlūna
they say
إِلَّا except illā
except
كَذِبًۭا a lie kadhiban
a lie
٥ (5)
(5)
Ni eux ni leurs ancêtres n’en savent rien. Quelle monstrueuse parole que celle qui sort de leurs bouches ! Ce qu’ils disent n’est que mensonge.
18:6
فَلَعَلَّكَ Then perhaps you would (be) falaʿallaka
Then perhaps you would (be)
بَـٰخِعٌۭ the one who kills bākhiʿun
the one who kills
نَّفْسَكَ yourself nafsaka
yourself
عَلَىٰٓ over ʿalā
over
ءَاثَـٰرِهِمْ their footsteps āthārihim
their footsteps
إِن if in
if
لَّمْ not lam
not
يُؤْمِنُوا۟ they believe yu'minū
they believe
بِهَـٰذَا in this bihādhā
in this
ٱلْحَدِيثِ [the] narration l-ḥadīthi
[the] narration
أَسَفًا (in) grief asafan
(in) grief
٦ (6)
(6)
Tu vas peut-être te consumer de chagrin parce qu’ils se détournent de toi et ne croient pas en ce discours !
18:7
إِنَّا Indeed, We innā
Indeed, We
جَعَلْنَا We have made jaʿalnā
We have made
مَا what
what
عَلَى (is) on ʿalā
(is) on
ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
زِينَةًۭ adornment zīnatan
adornment
لَّهَا for it lahā
for it
لِنَبْلُوَهُمْ that We may test [them] linabluwahum
that We may test [them]
أَيُّهُمْ which of them ayyuhum
which of them
أَحْسَنُ (is) best aḥsanu
(is) best
عَمَلًۭا (in) deed ʿamalan
(in) deed
٧ (7)
(7)
Nous avons placé ce qu’il y a sur la Terre pour l’embellir, afin d’éprouver (les hommes et afin de savoir) qui d’entre eux sont les meilleurs dans leurs œuvres.
18:8
وَإِنَّا And indeed, We wa-innā
And indeed, We
لَجَـٰعِلُونَ (will) surely make lajāʿilūna
(will) surely make
مَا what
what
عَلَيْهَا (is) on it ʿalayhā
(is) on it
صَعِيدًۭا soil ṣaʿīdan
soil
جُرُزًا barren juruzan
barren
٨ (8)
(8)
Puis, Nous allons sûrement transformer sa surface en sol aride.
18:9
أَمْ Or am
Or
حَسِبْتَ have you thought ḥasib'ta
have you thought
أَنَّ that anna
that
أَصْحَـٰبَ (the) companions aṣḥāba
(the) companions
ٱلْكَهْفِ (of) the cave l-kahfi
(of) the cave
وَٱلرَّقِيمِ and the inscription wal-raqīmi
and the inscription
كَانُوا۟ were kānū
were
مِنْ among min
among
ءَايَـٰتِنَا Our Signs āyātinā
Our Signs
عَجَبًا a wonder ʿajaban
a wonder
٩ (9)
(9)
Penses-tu que les gens de la Caverne et d’Ar-Raquîm ont constitué une chose extraordinaire d’entre Nos prodiges ?
18:10
إِذْ When idh
When
أَوَى retreated awā
retreated
ٱلْفِتْيَةُ the youths l-fit'yatu
the youths
إِلَى to ilā
to
ٱلْكَهْفِ the cave l-kahfi
the cave
فَقَالُوا۟ and they said faqālū
and they said
رَبَّنَآ Our Lord rabbanā
Our Lord
ءَاتِنَا Grant us ātinā
Grant us
مِن from min
from
لَّدُنكَ Yourself ladunka
Yourself
رَحْمَةًۭ Mercy raḥmatan
Mercy
وَهَيِّئْ and facilitate wahayyi
and facilitate
لَنَا for us lanā
for us
مِنْ [from] min
[from]
أَمْرِنَا our affair amrinā
our affair
رَشَدًۭا (in the) right way rashadan
(in the) right way
١٠ (10)
(10)
Quand ces jeunes gens se réfugièrent dans la caverne, ils dirent : "Ô notre Seigneur ! Donne-nous de Ta part une miséricorde ! Et assure nous la droiture dans tout ce qui nous concerne."
18:11
فَضَرَبْنَا So We cast faḍarabnā
So We cast
عَلَىٰٓ over ʿalā
over
ءَاذَانِهِمْ their ears ādhānihim
their ears
فِى in
in
ٱلْكَهْفِ the cave l-kahfi
the cave
سِنِينَ years sinīna
years
عَدَدًۭا a number ʿadadan
a number
١١ (11)
(11)
Alors, Nous avons assourdi leurs oreilles, dans la caverne pendant nombreuses années.
18:12
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
بَعَثْنَـٰهُمْ We raised them up baʿathnāhum
We raised them up
لِنَعْلَمَ that We make evident linaʿlama
that We make evident
أَىُّ which ayyu
which
ٱلْحِزْبَيْنِ (of) the two parties l-ḥiz'bayni
(of) the two parties
أَحْصَىٰ best calculated aḥṣā
best calculated
لِمَا for what limā
for what
لَبِثُوٓا۟ (they had) remained labithū
(they had) remained
أَمَدًۭا (in) time amadan
(in) time
١٢ (12)
(12)
Ensuite, Nous les avons ressuscités, afin de savoir lequel des deux groupes saurait le mieux calculer la durée exacte de leur séjour.
18:13
نَّحْنُ We naḥnu
We
نَقُصُّ narrate naquṣṣu
narrate
عَلَيْكَ to you ʿalayka
to you
نَبَأَهُم their story naba-ahum
their story
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ in truth bil-ḥaqi
in truth
إِنَّهُمْ Indeed, they (were) innahum
Indeed, they (were)
فِتْيَةٌ youths fit'yatun
youths
ءَامَنُوا۟ who believed āmanū
who believed
بِرَبِّهِمْ in their Lord birabbihim
in their Lord
وَزِدْنَـٰهُمْ and We increased them wazid'nāhum
and We increased them
هُدًۭى (in) guidance hudan
(in) guidance
١٣ (13)
(13)
Nous allons te raconter leur récit en toute vérité. C’étaient des jeunes gens qui croyaient en leur Seigneur et à qui Nous avions accordé les plus grands moyens de se diriger [dans la bonne voie].
18:14
وَرَبَطْنَا And We made firm warabaṭnā
And We made firm
عَلَىٰ [on] ʿalā
[on]
قُلُوبِهِمْ their hearts qulūbihim
their hearts
إِذْ when idh
when
قَامُوا۟ they stood up qāmū
they stood up
فَقَالُوا۟ and said faqālū
and said
رَبُّنَا Our Lord rabbunā
Our Lord
رَبُّ (is) the Lord rabbu
(is) the Lord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
لَن Never lan
Never
نَّدْعُوَا۟ we will invoke nadʿuwā
we will invoke
مِن besides Him min
besides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ besides Him dūnihi
besides Him
إِلَـٰهًۭا ۖ any god ilāhan
any god
لَّقَدْ Certainly laqad
Certainly
قُلْنَآ we would have said qul'nā
we would have said
إِذًۭا then idhan
then
شَطَطًا an enormity shaṭaṭan
an enormity
١٤ (14)
(14)
Nous avions fortifié leurs cœurs lorsqu’ils s'étaient levés pour dire : “Notre Seigneur est le Seigneur des cieux et de la Terre: jamais nous n’invoquerons de divinité en dehors de Lui, sans quoi, nous transgresserions dans nos paroles.
18:15
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ These hāulāi
These
قَوْمُنَا our people qawmunā
our people
ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ have taken ittakhadhū
have taken
مِن besides Him min
besides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ besides Him dūnihi
besides Him
ءَالِهَةًۭ ۖ gods ālihatan
gods
لَّوْلَا Why not lawlā
Why not
يَأْتُونَ they come yatūna
they come
عَلَيْهِم to them ʿalayhim
to them
بِسُلْطَـٰنٍۭ with an authority bisul'ṭānin
with an authority
بَيِّنٍۢ ۖ clear bayyinin
clear
فَمَنْ And who faman
And who
أَظْلَمُ (is) more wrong aẓlamu
(is) more wrong
مِمَّنِ than (one) who mimmani
than (one) who
ٱفْتَرَىٰ invents if'tarā
invents
عَلَى against ʿalā
against
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
كَذِبًۭا a lie kadhiban
a lie
١٥ (15)
(15)
Voilà que nos concitoyens ont adopté en dehors de Lui des divinités. Que n’apportent-ils sur elles une preuve évidente ? Quel pire injuste, donc que celui qui invente un mensonge contre Allah ?
18:16
وَإِذِ And when wa-idhi
And when
ٱعْتَزَلْتُمُوهُمْ you withdraw from them iʿ'tazaltumūhum
you withdraw from them
وَمَا and what wamā
and what
يَعْبُدُونَ they worship yaʿbudūna
they worship
إِلَّا except illā
except
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
فَأْوُۥٓا۟ then retreat fawū
then retreat
إِلَى to ilā
to
ٱلْكَهْفِ the cave l-kahfi
the cave
يَنشُرْ Will spread yanshur
Will spread
لَكُمْ for you lakum
for you
رَبُّكُم your Lord rabbukum
your Lord
مِّن of min
of
رَّحْمَتِهِۦ His Mercy raḥmatihi
His Mercy
وَيُهَيِّئْ and will facilitate wayuhayyi
and will facilitate
لَكُم for you lakum
for you
مِّنْ [from] min
[from]
أَمْرِكُم your affair amrikum
your affair
مِّرْفَقًۭا (in) ease mir'faqan
(in) ease
١٦ (16)
(16)
Et quand vous vous serez séparés d’eux et de ce qu’ils adorent en dehors d’Allah, réfugiez-vous donc dans la caverne. Votre Seigneur répandra de Sa miséricorde sur vous et vous apportera un adoucissement à votre sort.”
18:17
۞ وَتَرَى And you (might) have seen watarā
And you (might) have seen
ٱلشَّمْسَ the sun l-shamsa
the sun
إِذَا when idhā
when
طَلَعَت it rose ṭalaʿat
it rose
تَّزَٰوَرُ inclining away tazāwaru
inclining away
عَن from ʿan
from
كَهْفِهِمْ their cave kahfihim
their cave
ذَاتَ to dhāta
to
ٱلْيَمِينِ the right l-yamīni
the right
وَإِذَا and when wa-idhā
and when
غَرَبَت it set gharabat
it set
تَّقْرِضُهُمْ passing away from them taqriḍuhum
passing away from them
ذَاتَ to dhāta
to
ٱلشِّمَالِ the left l-shimāli
the left
وَهُمْ while they wahum
while they
فِى (lay) in
(lay) in
فَجْوَةٍۢ the open space fajwatin
the open space
مِّنْهُ ۚ thereof min'hu
thereof
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika
That
مِنْ (was) from min
(was) from
ءَايَـٰتِ (the) Signs āyāti
(the) Signs
ٱللَّهِ ۗ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
مَن Whoever man
Whoever
يَهْدِ Allah guides yahdi
Allah guides
ٱللَّهُ Allah guides l-lahu
Allah guides
فَهُوَ and he fahuwa
and he
ٱلْمُهْتَدِ ۖ (is) the guided one l-muh'tadi
(is) the guided one
وَمَن and whoever waman
and whoever
يُضْلِلْ He lets go astray yuḍ'lil
He lets go astray
فَلَن then never falan
then never
تَجِدَ you will find tajida
you will find
لَهُۥ for him lahu
for him
وَلِيًّۭا a protector waliyyan
a protector
مُّرْشِدًۭا a guide mur'shidan
a guide
١٧ (17)
(17)
Et tu aurais vu le soleil, quand il se lève, s’écarter de leur caverne vers la droite, et quand il se couche, passer à leur gauche, tandis qu’eux-mêmes étaient là dans une partie spacieuse (de la caverne). Cela est un des signes (de la puissance) d’Allah. Celui qu’Allah guide, c’est lui le bien-guidé. Et quiconque Il égare, tu ne trouveras alors pour lui aucun allié pour le mettre sur la bonne voie.
18:18
وَتَحْسَبُهُمْ And you (would) think them wataḥsabuhum
And you (would) think them
أَيْقَاظًۭا awake ayqāẓan
awake
وَهُمْ while they wahum
while they
رُقُودٌۭ ۚ (were) asleep ruqūdun
(were) asleep
وَنُقَلِّبُهُمْ And We turned them wanuqallibuhum
And We turned them
ذَاتَ to dhāta
to
ٱلْيَمِينِ the right l-yamīni
the right
وَذَاتَ and to wadhāta
and to
ٱلشِّمَالِ ۖ the left l-shimāli
the left
وَكَلْبُهُم while their dog wakalbuhum
while their dog
بَـٰسِطٌۭ stretched bāsiṭun
stretched
ذِرَاعَيْهِ his two forelegs dhirāʿayhi
his two forelegs
بِٱلْوَصِيدِ ۚ at the entrance bil-waṣīdi
at the entrance
لَوِ If lawi
If
ٱطَّلَعْتَ you had looked iṭṭalaʿta
you had looked
عَلَيْهِمْ at them ʿalayhim
at them
لَوَلَّيْتَ you (would) have surely turned back lawallayta
you (would) have surely turned back
مِنْهُمْ from them min'hum
from them
فِرَارًۭا (in) flight firāran
(in) flight
وَلَمُلِئْتَ and surely you would have been filled walamuli'ta
and surely you would have been filled
مِنْهُمْ by them min'hum
by them
رُعْبًۭا (with) terror ruʿ'ban
(with) terror
١٨ (18)
(18)
Et tu les aurais crus éveillés, alors qu’ils dormaient. Et Nous les tournions sur le côté droit et sur le côté gauche, tandis que leur chien était à l’entrée, pattes étendues. Si tu les avais aperçus, certes tu leur aurais tourné le dos en fuyant; et tu aurais été assurément rempli d’effroi devant eux.
18:19
وَكَذَٰلِكَ And similarly wakadhālika
And similarly
بَعَثْنَـٰهُمْ We raised them baʿathnāhum
We raised them
لِيَتَسَآءَلُوا۟ that they might question liyatasāalū
that they might question
بَيْنَهُمْ ۚ among them baynahum
among them
قَالَ Said qāla
Said
قَآئِلٌۭ a speaker qāilun
a speaker
مِّنْهُمْ among them min'hum
among them
كَمْ How long kam
How long
لَبِثْتُمْ ۖ have you remained labith'tum
have you remained
قَالُوا۟ They said qālū
They said
لَبِثْنَا We have remained labith'nā
We have remained
يَوْمًا a day yawman
a day
أَوْ or aw
or
بَعْضَ a part baʿḍa
a part
يَوْمٍۢ ۚ (of) a day yawmin
(of) a day
قَالُوا۟ They said qālū
They said
رَبُّكُمْ Your Lord rabbukum
Your Lord
أَعْلَمُ knows best aʿlamu
knows best
بِمَا how long bimā
how long
لَبِثْتُمْ you have remained labith'tum
you have remained
فَٱبْعَثُوٓا۟ So send fa-ib'ʿathū
So send
أَحَدَكُم one of you aḥadakum
one of you
بِوَرِقِكُمْ with this silver coin of yours biwariqikum
with this silver coin of yours
هَـٰذِهِۦٓ with this silver coin of yours hādhihi
with this silver coin of yours
إِلَى to ilā
to
ٱلْمَدِينَةِ the city l-madīnati
the city
فَلْيَنظُرْ and let him see falyanẓur
and let him see
أَيُّهَآ which is ayyuhā
which is
أَزْكَىٰ the purest azkā
the purest
طَعَامًۭا food ṭaʿāman
food
فَلْيَأْتِكُم and let him bring to you falyatikum
and let him bring to you
بِرِزْقٍۢ provision biriz'qin
provision
مِّنْهُ from it min'hu
from it
وَلْيَتَلَطَّفْ and let him be cautious walyatalaṭṭaf
and let him be cautious
وَلَا And let not be aware walā
And let not be aware
يُشْعِرَنَّ And let not be aware yush'ʿiranna
And let not be aware
بِكُمْ about you bikum
about you
أَحَدًا anyone aḥadan
anyone
١٩ (19)
(19)
Et c’est ainsi que Nous les ressuscitâmes, afin qu’ils s’interrogent entre eux. L’un parmi eux dit : "Combien de temps avez-vous demeuré là ?" Ils dirent : "Nous avons demeuré un jour ou une partie d’un jour." D’autres dirent : "Votre Seigneur sait mieux combien [de temps] vous y avez demeuré. Envoyez donc l’un de vous à la ville avec votre argent que voici, pour qu’il voit quel aliment est le plus pur et qu’il vous apporte de quoi vous nourrir. Et qu’il agisse avec tact ; et qu’il ne donne l’éveil à personne sur vous.
18:20
إِنَّهُمْ Indeed, [they] innahum
Indeed, [they]
إِن if in
if
يَظْهَرُوا۟ they come to know yaẓharū
they come to know
عَلَيْكُمْ about you ʿalaykum
about you
يَرْجُمُوكُمْ they will stone you yarjumūkum
they will stone you
أَوْ or aw
or
يُعِيدُوكُمْ return you yuʿīdūkum
return you
فِى to
to
مِلَّتِهِمْ their religion millatihim
their religion
وَلَن And never walan
And never
تُفْلِحُوٓا۟ will you succeed tuf'liḥū
will you succeed
إِذًا then idhan
then
أَبَدًۭا ever abadan
ever
٢٠ (20)
(20)
Si jamais ils vous attrapent, ils vous lapideront ou vous feront retourner à leur religion, et vous ne réussirez alors plus jamais."
18:21
وَكَذَٰلِكَ And similarly wakadhālika
And similarly
أَعْثَرْنَا We made known aʿtharnā
We made known
عَلَيْهِمْ about them ʿalayhim
about them
لِيَعْلَمُوٓا۟ that they might know liyaʿlamū
that they might know
أَنَّ that anna
that
وَعْدَ (the) Promise waʿda
(the) Promise
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
حَقٌّۭ (is) true ḥaqqun
(is) true
وَأَنَّ and that wa-anna
and that
ٱلسَّاعَةَ (about) the Hour l-sāʿata
(about) the Hour
لَا (there is) no
(there is) no
رَيْبَ doubt rayba
doubt
فِيهَآ in it fīhā
in it
إِذْ When idh
When
يَتَنَـٰزَعُونَ they disputed yatanāzaʿūna
they disputed
بَيْنَهُمْ among themselves baynahum
among themselves
أَمْرَهُمْ ۖ about their affair amrahum
about their affair
فَقَالُوا۟ and they said faqālū
and they said
ٱبْنُوا۟ Construct ib'nū
Construct
عَلَيْهِم over them ʿalayhim
over them
بُنْيَـٰنًۭا ۖ a structure bun'yānan
a structure
رَّبُّهُمْ Their Lord rabbuhum
Their Lord
أَعْلَمُ knows best aʿlamu
knows best
بِهِمْ ۚ about them bihim
about them
قَالَ Said qāla
Said
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
غَلَبُوا۟ prevailed ghalabū
prevailed
عَلَىٰٓ in ʿalā
in
أَمْرِهِمْ their matter amrihim
their matter
لَنَتَّخِذَنَّ Surely we will take lanattakhidhanna
Surely we will take
عَلَيْهِم over them ʿalayhim
over them
مَّسْجِدًۭا a place of worship masjidan
a place of worship
٢١ (21)
(21)
Et c’est ainsi que Nous fîmes qu’ils furent découverts, afin qu’ils [les gens de la cité] sachent que la promesse d’Allah est vérité et qu’il n’y ait point de doute au sujet de l’Heure. Aussi se disputèrent-ils à leur sujet et déclarèrent-ils: "Construisez sur eux un édifice. Leur Seigneur les connaît mieux". Mais ceux qui l’emportèrent [dans la discussion] dirent: "Elevons sur eux un sanctuaire".
18:22
سَيَقُولُونَ They say sayaqūlūna
They say
ثَلَـٰثَةٌۭ (they were) three thalāthatun
(they were) three
رَّابِعُهُمْ the forth of them rābiʿuhum
the forth of them
كَلْبُهُمْ their dog kalbuhum
their dog
وَيَقُولُونَ and they say wayaqūlūna
and they say
خَمْسَةٌۭ (they were) five khamsatun
(they were) five
سَادِسُهُمْ the sixth of them sādisuhum
the sixth of them
كَلْبُهُمْ their dog kalbuhum
their dog
رَجْمًۢا guessing rajman
guessing
بِٱلْغَيْبِ ۖ about the unseen bil-ghaybi
about the unseen
وَيَقُولُونَ and they say wayaqūlūna
and they say
سَبْعَةٌۭ (they were) seven sabʿatun
(they were) seven
وَثَامِنُهُمْ and the eight of them wathāminuhum
and the eight of them
كَلْبُهُمْ ۚ their dog kalbuhum
their dog
قُل Say qul
Say
رَّبِّىٓ My Lord rabbī
My Lord
أَعْلَمُ knows best aʿlamu
knows best
بِعِدَّتِهِم their number biʿiddatihim
their number
مَّا None
None
يَعْلَمُهُمْ knows them yaʿlamuhum
knows them
إِلَّا except illā
except
قَلِيلٌۭ ۗ a few qalīlun
a few
فَلَا So (do) not falā
So (do) not
تُمَارِ argue tumāri
argue
فِيهِمْ about them fīhim
about them
إِلَّا except illā
except
مِرَآءًۭ (with) an argument mirāan
(with) an argument
ظَـٰهِرًۭا obvious ẓāhiran
obvious
وَلَا and (do) not walā
and (do) not
تَسْتَفْتِ inquire tastafti
inquire
فِيهِم about them fīhim
about them
مِّنْهُمْ among them min'hum
among them
أَحَدًۭا (from) anyone aḥadan
(from) anyone
٢٢ (22)
(22)
Ils diront : “Ils étaient trois et le quatrième était leur chien.” Et ils diront en conjecturant sur leur mystère qu’ils étaient cinq, le sixième étant leur chien et ils diront : “Sept, le huitième étant leur chien.” Dis : “Mon Seigneur connaît mieux leur nombre. Il n’en est que peu qui le savent.” Ne discute à leur sujet que d’une façon apparente et ne demande l’avis de personne en ce qui les concerne.
18:23
وَلَا And (do) not walā

Et ne dis jamais, à propos d’une chose : "Je la ferai sûrement demain."
18:24
إِلَّآ Except illā

يَشَآءَ Allah wills yashāa

ٱللَّهُ ۚ Allah wills l-lahu
Allah wills
وَٱذْكُر And remember wa-udh'kur
And remember
رَّبَّكَ your Lord rabbaka

نَسِيتَ you forget nasīta
you forget
وَقُلْ and say waqul
and say
عَسَىٰٓ Perhaps ʿasā
Perhaps
أَن [that] an
[that]
يَهْدِيَنِ will guide me yahdiyani
will guide me
رَبِّى my Lord rabbī
my Lord
لِأَقْرَبَ to a nearer (way) li-aqraba
to a nearer (way)
مِنْ than min
than
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
رَشَدًۭا right way rashadan
right way
٢٤ (24)
(24)
Sans ajouter : "Si Allah le veut !" Et invoque ton Seigneur quand tu oublies et dis : "Je souhaite que mon Seigneur me guide et me mène plus près de ce qui est correct."
18:25
وَلَبِثُوا۟ And they remained walabithū
And they remained
فِى in

كَهْفِهِمْ their cave kahfihim
their cave
ثَلَـٰثَ (for) three thalātha
(for) three
مِا۟ئَةٍۢ hundred mi-atin
hundred
سِنِينَ years sinīna
years
وَٱزْدَادُوا۟ and add wa-iz'dādū
and add
تِسْعًۭا nine tis'ʿan
nine
٢٥ (25)
(25)
Or, ils demeurèrent dans leur caverne trois cent ans, auxquels s'y ajoutèrent neuf (années).
18:26
قُلِ Say quli
Say
ٱللَّهُ Allah l-lahu
Allah
أَعْلَمُ knows best aʿlamu
knows best
بِمَا about what (period) bimā
about what (period)
لَبِثُوا۟ ۖ they remained labithū
they remained
لَهُۥ For Him lahu
For Him
غَيْبُ (is the) unseen ghaybu
(is the) unseen
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
أَبْصِرْ How clearly He sees abṣir
How clearly He sees
بِهِۦ [of it] bihi
[of it]
وَأَسْمِعْ ۚ And how clearly He hears wa-asmiʿ
And how clearly He hears
مَا Not
Not
لَهُم for them lahum
for them
مِّن besides Him min
besides Him
دُونِهِۦ besides Him dūnihi
besides Him
مِن any min
any
وَلِىٍّۢ protector waliyyin
protector
وَلَا and not walā
and not
يُشْرِكُ He shares yush'riku
He shares
فِى [in]
[in]
حُكْمِهِۦٓ His Commands ḥuk'mihi
His Commands
أَحَدًۭا (with) anyone aḥadan
(with) anyone
٢٦ (26)
(26)
Dis : "Allah sait mieux combien de temps ils demeurèrent là. A Lui appartient l’Inconnaissable des cieux et de la terre. Comme Il est Voyant et Audient! Ils n’ont aucun allié en dehors de Lui et Il n’associe personne à Son commandement.
18:27
وَٱتْلُ And recite wa-ut'lu
And recite
مَآ what

أُوحِىَ has been revealed ūḥiya

إِلَيْكَ to you ilayka

كِتَابِ the Book kitābi
the Book
رَبِّكَ ۖ (of) your Lord rabbika

مُبَدِّلَ can change mubaddila

لِكَلِمَـٰتِهِۦ His Words likalimātihi
His Words
وَلَن and never walan
and never
تَجِدَ you will find tajida
you will find
مِن besides Him min
besides Him
دُونِهِۦ besides Him dūnihi
besides Him
مُلْتَحَدًۭا a refuge mul'taḥadan
a refuge
٢٧ (27)
(27)
Et récite ce qui t’a été révélé du Livre de ton Seigneur. Nul ne peut changer Ses paroles. Et tu ne trouveras, en dehors de Lui, aucun refuge.
18:28
وَٱصْبِرْ And be patient wa-iṣ'bir
And be patient
نَفْسَكَ yourself nafsaka
yourself
مَعَ with maʿa
with
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
يَدْعُونَ call yadʿūna
call
رَبَّهُم their Lord rabbahum
their Lord
بِٱلْغَدَوٰةِ in the morning bil-ghadati
in the morning
وَٱلْعَشِىِّ and the evening wal-ʿashiyi
and the evening
يُرِيدُونَ desiring yurīdūna
desiring
وَجْهَهُۥ ۖ His Face wajhahu
His Face
وَلَا And (let) not walā
And (let) not
تَعْدُ pass beyond taʿdu
pass beyond
عَيْنَاكَ your eyes ʿaynāka
your eyes
عَنْهُمْ over them ʿanhum
over them
تُرِيدُ desiring turīdu
desiring
زِينَةَ adornment zīnata
adornment
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ (of) the life l-ḥayati
(of) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ (of) the world l-dun'yā
(of) the world
وَلَا and (do) not walā
and (do) not
تُطِعْ obey tuṭiʿ
obey
مَنْ whom man
whom
أَغْفَلْنَا We have made heedless aghfalnā
We have made heedless
قَلْبَهُۥ his heart qalbahu
his heart
عَن of ʿan
of
ذِكْرِنَا Our remembrance dhik'rinā
Our remembrance
وَٱتَّبَعَ and follows wa-ittabaʿa
and follows
هَوَىٰهُ his desires hawāhu
his desires
وَكَانَ and is wakāna
and is
أَمْرُهُۥ his affair amruhu
his affair
فُرُطًۭا (in) excess furuṭan
(in) excess
٢٨ (28)
(28)
Fais preuve de patience [en restant] avec ceux qui invoquent leur Seigneur matin et soir, désirant Sa Face. Et que tes yeux ne se détachent point d’eux, en cherchant (le faux) brillant de la vie d'ici-bas. Et n’obéis pas à celui dont Nous avons rendu le cœur inattentif à Notre Rappel et qui poursuit sa passion et dont le comportement est outrancier.
18:29
وَقُلِ And say waquli

ٱلْحَقُّ The truth l-ḥaqu
The truth
مِن (is) from min
(is) from
رَّبِّكُمْ ۖ your Lord rabbikum
your Lord
فَمَن so whoever faman
so whoever
شَآءَ wills shāa
wills
فَلْيُؤْمِن let him believe falyu'min
let him believe
وَمَن and whoever waman
and whoever
شَآءَ wills shāa
wills
فَلْيَكْفُرْ ۚ let him disbelieve falyakfur
let him disbelieve
إِنَّآ Indeed, We innā
Indeed, We
أَعْتَدْنَا have prepared aʿtadnā
have prepared
لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ for the wrongdoers lilẓẓālimīna
for the wrongdoers
نَارًا a Fire nāran
a Fire
أَحَاطَ will surround aḥāṭa
will surround
بِهِمْ them bihim
them
سُرَادِقُهَا ۚ its walls surādiquhā
its walls
وَإِن And if wa-in
And if
يَسْتَغِيثُوا۟ they call for relief yastaghīthū
they call for relief
يُغَاثُوا۟ they will be relieved yughāthū
they will be relieved
بِمَآءٍۢ with water bimāin
with water
كَٱلْمُهْلِ like molten brass kal-muh'li
like molten brass
يَشْوِى (which) scalds yashwī
(which) scalds
ٱلْوُجُوهَ ۚ the faces l-wujūha
the faces
بِئْسَ Wretched bi'sa
Wretched
ٱلشَّرَابُ (is) the drink l-sharābu
(is) the drink
وَسَآءَتْ and evil wasāat
and evil
مُرْتَفَقًا (is) the resting place mur'tafaqan
(is) the resting place
٢٩ (29)
(29)
Et dis : "La vérité émane de votre Seigneur !" Quiconque le veut, qu’il croit, et quiconque le veut qu’il mécroit." Nous avons préparé pour les injustes un Feu dont les flammes les cernent. Et s’ils implorent à boire on les abreuvera d’une eau comme du métal fondu brûlant les visages. Quelle mauvaise boisson et quelle détestable demeure !
18:30
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟ believed āmanū
believed
وَعَمِلُوا۟ and did waʿamilū
and did
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ the good deeds l-ṣāliḥāti
the good deeds
إِنَّا indeed, We innā
indeed, We
لَا will not let go waste
will not let go waste
نُضِيعُ will not let go waste nuḍīʿu
will not let go waste
أَجْرَ (the) reward ajra
(the) reward
مَنْ (of one) who man
(of one) who
أَحْسَنَ does good aḥsana
does good
عَمَلًا deeds ʿamalan
deeds
٣٠ (30)
(30)
Ceux qui croient et font de bonnes œuvres... vraiment Nous ne laissons pas perdre la récompense de celui qui fait le bien.
18:31
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ulāika
Those
لَهُمْ for them lahum
for them
جَنَّـٰتُ (are) Gardens jannātu
(are) Gardens
عَدْنٍۢ of Eden ʿadnin
of Eden
تَجْرِى flows tajrī
flows
مِن from min
from
تَحْتِهِمُ underneath them taḥtihimu
underneath them
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ the rivers l-anhāru
the rivers
يُحَلَّوْنَ They will be adorned yuḥallawna
They will be adorned
فِيهَا therein fīhā
therein
مِنْ [of] (with) min
[of] (with)
أَسَاوِرَ bracelets asāwira
bracelets
مِن of min
of
ذَهَبٍۢ gold dhahabin
gold
وَيَلْبَسُونَ and will wear wayalbasūna
and will wear
ثِيَابًا garments thiyāban
garments
خُضْرًۭا green khuḍ'ran
green
مِّن of min
of
سُندُسٍۢ fine silk sundusin
fine silk
وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍۢ and heavy brocade wa-is'tabraqin
and heavy brocade
مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ reclining muttakiīna
reclining
فِيهَا therein fīhā
therein
عَلَى on ʿalā
on
ٱلْأَرَآئِكِ ۚ adorned couches l-arāiki
adorned couches
نِعْمَ Excellent niʿ'ma
Excellent
ٱلثَّوَابُ (is) the reward l-thawābu
(is) the reward
وَحَسُنَتْ and good waḥasunat
and good
مُرْتَفَقًۭا (is) the resting place mur'tafaqan
(is) the resting place
٣١ (31)
(31)
Voilà ceux qui auront les jardins du séjour (éternel) sous lesquels coulent les ruisseaux. Ils y seront parés de bracelets d’or et se vêtiront d’habits verts de soie fine et de brocart, accoudés sur des divans (bien ornés). Quelle bonne récompense et quelle belle demeure !
18:32
۞ وَٱضْرِبْ And set forth wa-iḍ'rib
And set forth
لَهُم to them lahum
to them
مَّثَلًۭا the example mathalan
the example
رَّجُلَيْنِ of two men: rajulayni
of two men:
جَعَلْنَا We provided jaʿalnā
We provided
لِأَحَدِهِمَا for one of them li-aḥadihimā
for one of them
جَنَّتَيْنِ two gardens jannatayni
two gardens
مِنْ of min
of
أَعْنَـٰبٍۢ grapes aʿnābin
grapes
وَحَفَفْنَـٰهُمَا and We bordered them waḥafafnāhumā
and We bordered them
بِنَخْلٍۢ with date-palms binakhlin
with date-palms
وَجَعَلْنَا and We placed wajaʿalnā
and We placed
بَيْنَهُمَا between both of them baynahumā
between both of them
زَرْعًۭا crops zarʿan
crops
٣٢ (32)
(32)
Donne-leur l’exemple de deux hommes : à l’un d’eux Nous avons assigné deux jardins de vignes que Nous avons entourés de palmiers et Nous avons mis entre les deux jardins des champs cultivés.
18:33
كِلْتَا Each kil'tā
Each
ٱلْجَنَّتَيْنِ (of) the two gardens l-janatayni
(of) the two gardens
ءَاتَتْ brought forth ātat
brought forth
أُكُلَهَا its produce ukulahā
its produce
وَلَمْ and not walam
and not
تَظْلِم did wrong taẓlim
did wrong
مِّنْهُ of it min'hu
of it
شَيْـًۭٔا ۚ anything shayan
anything
وَفَجَّرْنَا And We caused to gush forth wafajjarnā
And We caused to gush forth
خِلَـٰلَهُمَا within them khilālahumā
within them
نَهَرًۭا a river naharan
a river
٣٣ (33)
(33)
Les deux jardins produisaient leur récolte sans jamais manquer. Et Nous avons fait jaillir entre eux un ruisseau.
18:34
وَكَانَ And was wakāna
And was
لَهُۥ for him lahu
for him
ثَمَرٌۭ fruit thamarun
fruit
فَقَالَ so he said faqāla
so he said
لِصَـٰحِبِهِۦ to his companion liṣāḥibihi
to his companion
وَهُوَ while he wahuwa
while he
يُحَاوِرُهُۥٓ (was) talking with him yuḥāwiruhu
(was) talking with him
أَنَا۠ I am anā
I am
أَكْثَرُ greater aktharu
greater
مِنكَ than you minka
than you
مَالًۭا (in) wealth mālan
(in) wealth
وَأَعَزُّ and stronger wa-aʿazzu
and stronger
نَفَرًۭا (in) men nafaran
(in) men
٣٤ (34)
(34)
Et il avait des fruits, alors il dit alors à son compagnon avec qui il conversait : "Je possède plus de bien que toi, et je suis plus puissant que toi grâce à mon clan."
18:35
وَدَخَلَ And he entered wadakhala
And he entered
جَنَّتَهُۥ his garden jannatahu
his garden
وَهُوَ while he wahuwa
while he
ظَالِمٌۭ (was) unjust ẓālimun
(was) unjust
لِّنَفْسِهِۦ to himself linafsihi
to himself
قَالَ He said qāla
He said
مَآ Not
Not
أَظُنُّ I think aẓunnu
I think
أَن that an
that
تَبِيدَ will perish tabīda
will perish
هَـٰذِهِۦٓ this hādhihi
this
أَبَدًۭا ever abadan
ever
٣٥ (35)
(35)
Il entra dans son jardin coupable envers lui-même [par sa mécréance] ; il dit : "Je ne pense pas que ceci puisse jamais périr,
18:36
وَمَآ And not wamā
And not
أَظُنُّ I think aẓunnu
I think
ٱلسَّاعَةَ the Hour l-sāʿata
the Hour
قَآئِمَةًۭ will occur qāimatan
will occur
وَلَئِن And if wala-in
And if
رُّدِدتُّ I am brought back rudidttu
I am brought back
إِلَىٰ to ilā
to
رَبِّى my Lord rabbī
my Lord
لَأَجِدَنَّ I will surely find la-ajidanna
I will surely find
خَيْرًۭا better khayran
better
مِّنْهَا than this min'hā
than this
مُنقَلَبًۭا (as) a return munqalaban
(as) a return
٣٦ (36)
(36)
et je ne pense pas que l’Heure viendra. Et si on me ramène vers mon Seigneur, je trouverai certes meilleur lieu de retour que ce jardin.
18:37
قَالَ Said qāla
Said
لَهُۥ to him lahu
to him
صَاحِبُهُۥ his companion ṣāḥibuhu
his companion
وَهُوَ while he wahuwa
while he
يُحَاوِرُهُۥٓ was talking to him yuḥāwiruhu
was talking to him
أَكَفَرْتَ Do you disbelieve akafarta
Do you disbelieve
بِٱلَّذِى in One Who bi-alladhī
in One Who
خَلَقَكَ created you khalaqaka
created you
مِن from min
from
تُرَابٍۢ dust turābin
dust
ثُمَّ then thumma
then
مِن from min
from
نُّطْفَةٍۢ a minute quantity of semen nuṭ'fatin
a minute quantity of semen
ثُمَّ then thumma
then
سَوَّىٰكَ fashioned you sawwāka
fashioned you
رَجُلًۭا (into) a man rajulan
(into) a man
٣٧ (37)
(37)
Son compagnon lui dit, tout en conversant avec lui : "Serais-tu mécréant envers Celui qui t’a créé de terre, puis de sperme et enfin t’a façonné en homme ?
18:38
لَّـٰكِنَّا۠ But as for me lākinnā
But as for me
هُوَ He huwa
He
ٱللَّهُ (is) Allah l-lahu
(is) Allah
رَبِّى my Lord rabbī
my Lord
وَلَآ and not walā
and not
أُشْرِكُ I associate ush'riku
I associate
بِرَبِّىٓ with my Lord birabbī
with my Lord
أَحَدًۭا anyone aḥadan
anyone
٣٨ (38)
(38)
Quant à moi, c’est Allah qui est mon Seigneur ; et je n’associe personne à mon Seigneur !
18:39
وَلَوْلَآ And why (did you) not walawlā
And why (did you) not
إِذْ when idh
when
دَخَلْتَ you entered dakhalta
you entered
جَنَّتَكَ your garden jannataka
your garden
قُلْتَ say qul'ta
say
مَا What
What
شَآءَ wills shāa
wills
ٱللَّهُ Allah l-lahu
Allah
لَا (there is) no
(there is) no
قُوَّةَ power quwwata
power
إِلَّا except illā
except
بِٱللَّهِ ۚ with Allah bil-lahi
with Allah
إِن If in
If
تَرَنِ you see me tarani
you see me
أَنَا۠ (me) anā
(me)
أَقَلَّ lesser aqalla
lesser
مِنكَ than you minka
than you
مَالًۭا (in) wealth mālan
(in) wealth
وَوَلَدًۭا and children wawaladan
and children
٣٩ (39)
(39)
En entrant dans ton jardin, que n’as-tu dit : “Telle est la volonté (et la grâce) d’Allah ! Il n’y a de puissance que par Allah.” Si tu me vois moins pourvu que toi en biens et en enfants,
18:40
فَعَسَىٰ It may be faʿasā
It may be
رَبِّىٓ that my Lord rabbī
that my Lord
أَن that my Lord an
that my Lord
يُؤْتِيَنِ will give me yu'tiyani
will give me
خَيْرًۭا better khayran
better
مِّن than min
than
جَنَّتِكَ your garden jannatika
your garden
وَيُرْسِلَ and will send wayur'sila
and will send
عَلَيْهَا upon it ʿalayhā
upon it
حُسْبَانًۭا a calamity ḥus'bānan
a calamity
مِّنَ from mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ the sky l-samāi
the sky
فَتُصْبِحَ then it will become fatuṣ'biḥa
then it will become
صَعِيدًۭا ground ṣaʿīdan
ground
زَلَقًا slippery zalaqan
slippery
٤٠ (40)
(40)
il se peut que mon Seigneur, bientôt, me donne quelque chose de meilleur que ton jardin, qu’Il envoie sur [ce dernier], du ciel, quelque calamité, et que son sol devienne glissant,
18:41
أَوْ Or aw
Or
يُصْبِحَ will become yuṣ'biḥa
will become
مَآؤُهَا its water māuhā
its water
غَوْرًۭا sunken ghawran
sunken
فَلَن so never falan
so never
تَسْتَطِيعَ you will be able tastaṭīʿa
you will be able
لَهُۥ to find it lahu
to find it
طَلَبًۭا to find it ṭalaban
to find it
٤١ (41)
(41)
ou que son eau tarisse de sorte que tu ne puisses plus la retrouver."
18:42
وَأُحِيطَ And were surrounded wa-uḥīṭa
And were surrounded
بِثَمَرِهِۦ his fruits bithamarihi
his fruits
فَأَصْبَحَ so he began fa-aṣbaḥa
so he began
يُقَلِّبُ twisting yuqallibu
twisting
كَفَّيْهِ his hands kaffayhi
his hands
عَلَىٰ over ʿalā
over
مَآ what
what
أَنفَقَ he (had) spent anfaqa
he (had) spent
فِيهَا on it fīhā
on it
وَهِىَ while it (had) wahiya
while it (had)
خَاوِيَةٌ collapsed khāwiyatun
collapsed
عَلَىٰ on ʿalā
on
عُرُوشِهَا its trellises ʿurūshihā
its trellises
وَيَقُولُ and he said wayaqūlu
and he said
يَـٰلَيْتَنِى Oh! I wish yālaytanī
Oh! I wish
لَمْ I had not associated lam
I had not associated
أُشْرِكْ I had not associated ush'rik
I had not associated
بِرَبِّىٓ with my Lord birabbī
with my Lord
أَحَدًۭا anyone aḥadan
anyone
٤٢ (42)
(42)
Et sa récolte fut détruite et il se mit alors à se tordre les deux mains à cause de ce qu’il y avait dépensé, cependant que ses treilles étaient complètement ravagées. Et il disait : "Que je souhaite n’avoir associé personne à mon Seigneur !"
18:43
وَلَمْ And not walam
And not
تَكُن was takun

لَّهُۥ for him lahu
for him
فِئَةٌۭ a group fi-atun
a group
يَنصُرُونَهُۥ (to) help him yanṣurūnahu
(to) help him
مِن other than min
other than
دُونِ other than dūni
other than
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
وَمَا and not wamā
and not
كَانَ was kāna
was
مُنتَصِرًا (he) supported muntaṣiran
(he) supported
٤٣ (43)
(43)
Il n’eut aucun groupe de gens pour le secourir contre (la punition) d’Allah. Et il ne put se secourir lui-même.
18:44
هُنَالِكَ There hunālika
There
ٱلْوَلَـٰيَةُ the protection l-walāyatu
the protection
لِلَّهِ (is) from Allah lillahi
(is) from Allah
ٱلْحَقِّ ۚ the True l-ḥaqi
the True
هُوَ He huwa
He
خَيْرٌۭ (is the) best khayrun
(is the) best
ثَوَابًۭا (to) reward thawāban
(to) reward
وَخَيْرٌ and (the) best wakhayrun
and (the) best
عُقْبًۭا (for) the final end ʿuq'ban
(for) the final end

En l’occurrence, la souveraine protection appartient à Allah, le Vrai. Il accorde la meilleure récompense et la meilleure issue finale.
18:45
وَٱضْرِبْ And present wa-iḍ'rib
And present
لَهُم to them lahum
to them
مَّثَلَ the example mathala
the example
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ (of) the life l-ḥayati
(of) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا (of) the world l-dun'yā
(of) the world
كَمَآءٍ like water kamāin
like water
أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ which We send down anzalnāhu
which We send down
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ the sky l-samāi
the sky
فَٱخْتَلَطَ then mingles fa-ikh'talaṭa
then mingles
بِهِۦ with it bihi
with it
نَبَاتُ (the) vegetation nabātu
(the) vegetation
ٱلْأَرْضِ (of) the earth l-arḍi
(of) the earth
فَأَصْبَحَ then becomes fa-aṣbaḥa
then becomes
هَشِيمًۭا dry stalks hashīman
dry stalks
تَذْرُوهُ it (is) scattered tadhrūhu
it (is) scattered
ٱلرِّيَـٰحُ ۗ (by) the winds l-riyāḥu
(by) the winds
وَكَانَ And Allah wakāna
And Allah
ٱللَّهُ And Allah l-lahu
And Allah
عَلَىٰ over ʿalā
over
كُلِّ every kulli
every
شَىْءٍۢ thing shayin
thing
مُّقْتَدِرًا (is) All Able muq'tadiran
(is) All Able
٤٥ (45)
(45)
Et propose-leur l’exemple de la vie ici-bas. Elle est semblable à une eau que Nous faisons descendre du ciel; la végétation de la terre se mélange à elle. Puis elle devient de l’herbe desséchée que les vents dispersent. Allah est certes Puissant en toute chose !
18:46
ٱلْمَالُ The wealth al-mālu
The wealth
وَٱلْبَنُونَ and children wal-banūna
and children
زِينَةُ (are) adornment zīnatu
(are) adornment
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ (of) the life l-ḥayati
(of) the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا ۖ (of) the world l-dun'yā
(of) the world
وَٱلْبَـٰقِيَـٰتُ But the enduring wal-bāqiyātu
But the enduring
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتُ good deeds l-ṣāliḥātu
good deeds
خَيْرٌ (are) better khayrun
(are) better
عِندَ near ʿinda
near
رَبِّكَ your Lord rabbika
your Lord
ثَوَابًۭا (for) reward thawāban
(for) reward
وَخَيْرٌ and better wakhayrun
and better
أَمَلًۭا (for) hope amalan
(for) hope
٤٦ (46)
(46)
Les biens et les enfants sont l’ornement de la vie de ce monde. Cependant, les bonnes œuvres qui perdurent ont auprès de ton Seigneur une meilleure récompense et [suscitent] une belle espérance.
18:47
وَيَوْمَ And the Day wayawma
And the Day
نُسَيِّرُ We will cause (to) move nusayyiru
We will cause (to) move
ٱلْجِبَالَ the mountains l-jibāla
the mountains
وَتَرَى and you will see watarā
and you will see
ٱلْأَرْضَ the earth l-arḍa
the earth
بَارِزَةًۭ (as) a leveled plain bārizatan
(as) a leveled plain
وَحَشَرْنَـٰهُمْ and We will gather them waḥasharnāhum
and We will gather them
فَلَمْ and not falam
and not
نُغَادِرْ We will leave behind nughādir
We will leave behind
مِنْهُمْ from them min'hum
from them
أَحَدًۭا anyone aḥadan
anyone
٤٧ (47)
(47)
Le jour où Nous ferons marcher les montagnes et où tu verras la Terre nivelée (comme une plaine) et Nous les rassemblerons sans en omettre un seul.
18:48
وَعُرِضُوا۟ And they will be presented waʿuriḍū
And they will be presented
عَلَىٰ before ʿalā
before
رَبِّكَ your Lord rabbika
your Lord
صَفًّۭا (in) rows ṣaffan
(in) rows
لَّقَدْ Certainly laqad
Certainly
جِئْتُمُونَا you have come to Us ji'tumūnā
you have come to Us
كَمَا as kamā
as
خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ We created you khalaqnākum
We created you
أَوَّلَ the first awwala
the first
مَرَّةٍۭ ۚ time marratin
time
بَلْ Nay bal
Nay
زَعَمْتُمْ you claimed zaʿamtum
you claimed
أَلَّن that not allan
that not
نَّجْعَلَ We made najʿala
We made
لَكُم for you lakum
for you
مَّوْعِدًۭا an appointment mawʿidan
an appointment
٤٨ (48)
(48)
Et ils seront présentés en rangs devant ton Seigneur. “Vous voilà venus à Nous comme Nous vous avons créés la première fois. Pourtant vous prétendiez que Nous ne vous fixerions pas un rendez-vous.”
18:49
وَوُضِعَ And (will) be placed wawuḍiʿa
And (will) be placed
ٱلْكِتَـٰبُ the Book l-kitābu
the Book
فَتَرَى and you will see fatarā
and you will see
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ the criminals l-muj'rimīna
the criminals
مُشْفِقِينَ fearful mush'fiqīna
fearful
مِمَّا of what mimmā
of what
فِيهِ (is) in it fīhi
(is) in it
وَيَقُولُونَ and they will say wayaqūlūna
and they will say
يَـٰوَيْلَتَنَا Oh, woe to us yāwaylatanā
Oh, woe to us
مَالِ What (is) for māli
What (is) for
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ [the] Book l-kitābi
[the] Book
لَا not
not
يُغَادِرُ leaves yughādiru
leaves
صَغِيرَةًۭ a small ṣaghīratan
a small
وَلَا and not walā
and not
كَبِيرَةً a great kabīratan
a great
إِلَّآ except illā
except
أَحْصَىٰهَا ۚ has enumerated it aḥṣāhā
has enumerated it
وَوَجَدُوا۟ And they will find wawajadū
And they will find
مَا what
what
عَمِلُوا۟ they did ʿamilū
they did
حَاضِرًۭا ۗ presented ḥāḍiran
presented
وَلَا And not walā
And not
يَظْلِمُ deals unjustly yaẓlimu
deals unjustly
رَبُّكَ your Lord rabbuka
your Lord
أَحَدًۭا (with) anyone aḥadan
(with) anyone
٤٩ (49)
(49)
Et on déposera le livre (de chacun). Alors tu verras les criminels, effrayés à cause de ce qu’il y a dedans, dire : "Malheur à nous ! Qu’a donc ce livre à n’omettre de mentionner ni pêché véniel ni pêché capital ?" Et ils trouveront devant eux tout ce qu’ils ont œuvré. Et ton Seigneur ne fait du tort à personne.
18:50
وَإِذْ And when wa-idh
And when
قُلْنَا We said qul'nā
We said
لِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ to the Angels lil'malāikati
to the Angels
ٱسْجُدُوا۟ Prostrate us'judū
Prostrate
لِـَٔادَمَ to Adam liādama
to Adam
فَسَجَدُوٓا۟ so they prostrated fasajadū
so they prostrated
إِلَّآ except illā
except
إِبْلِيسَ Iblis ib'līsa
Iblis
كَانَ (He) was kāna
(He) was
مِنَ of mina
of
ٱلْجِنِّ the jinn l-jini
the jinn
فَفَسَقَ and he rebelled fafasaqa
and he rebelled
عَنْ against ʿan
against
أَمْرِ the Command amri
the Command
رَبِّهِۦٓ ۗ (of) his Lord rabbihi
(of) his Lord
أَفَتَتَّخِذُونَهُۥ Will you then take him afatattakhidhūnahu
Will you then take him
وَذُرِّيَّتَهُۥٓ and his offspring wadhurriyyatahu
and his offspring
أَوْلِيَآءَ (as) protectors awliyāa
(as) protectors
مِن other than Me min
other than Me
دُونِى other than Me dūnī
other than Me
وَهُمْ while they wahum
while they
لَكُمْ (are) to you lakum
(are) to you
عَدُوٌّۢ ۚ enemies ʿaduwwun
enemies
بِئْسَ Wretched bi'sa
Wretched
لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ for the wrongdoers lilẓẓālimīna
for the wrongdoers
بَدَلًۭا (is) the exchange badalan
(is) the exchange
٥٠ (50)
(50)
Et lorsque Nous dîmes aux Anges : "Prosternez-vous devant Adam !". Ils se prosternèrent, excepté Iblîs [Satan] qui était du nombre des djinns et qui se révolta contre le commandement de son Seigneur. Allez-vous cependant le prendre, ainsi que sa descendance, pour alliés en dehors de Moi, alors qu’ils vous sont ennemis ? Quel mauvais échange pour les injustes !
18:51
۞ مَّآ Not
Not
أَشْهَدتُّهُمْ I made them witness ashhadttuhum
I made them witness
خَلْقَ the creation khalqa
the creation
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَلَا and not walā
and not
خَلْقَ the creation khalqa
the creation
أَنفُسِهِمْ (of) themselves anfusihim
(of) themselves
وَمَا and not wamā
and not
كُنتُ I Am kuntu
I Am
مُتَّخِذَ the One to take muttakhidha
the One to take
ٱلْمُضِلِّينَ the misleaders l-muḍilīna
the misleaders
عَضُدًۭا (as) helper(s) ʿaḍudan
(as) helper(s)
٥١ (51)
(51)
Je ne les ai pas pris comme témoins de la création des cieux et de la Terre, ni de la création de leurs propres personnes. Et Je n’ai pas pris comme aides ceux qui égarent.
18:52
وَيَوْمَ And the Day wayawma
And the Day
يَقُولُ He will say yaqūlu
He will say
نَادُوا۟ Call nādū
Call
شُرَكَآءِىَ My partners shurakāiya
My partners
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
زَعَمْتُمْ you claimed zaʿamtum
you claimed
فَدَعَوْهُمْ then they will call them fadaʿawhum
then they will call them
فَلَمْ but not falam
but not
يَسْتَجِيبُوا۟ they will respond yastajībū
they will respond
لَهُمْ to them lahum
to them
وَجَعَلْنَا And We will make wajaʿalnā
And We will make
بَيْنَهُم between them baynahum
between them
مَّوْبِقًۭا a barrier mawbiqan
a barrier
٥٢ (52)
(52)
Et le jour où Il dira : "Appelez ceux que vous prétendiez être Mes associés." Ils les invoqueront; mais eux ne leur répondront pas. Et Nous aurons placé entre eux une vallée de perdition.
18:53
وَرَءَا And will see waraā
And will see
ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ the criminals l-muj'rimūna
the criminals
ٱلنَّارَ the Fire l-nāra
the Fire
فَظَنُّوٓا۟ and they (will be) certain faẓannū
and they (will be) certain
أَنَّهُم that they annahum
that they
مُّوَاقِعُوهَا are to fall in it muwāqiʿūhā
are to fall in it
وَلَمْ And not walam
And not
يَجِدُوا۟ they will find yajidū
they will find
عَنْهَا from it ʿanhā
from it
مَصْرِفًۭا a way of escape maṣrifan
a way of escape
٥٣ (53)
(53)
Et les criminels verront le Feu. Ils seront alors convaincus qu’ils y tomberont et n’en trouveront pas d’échappatoire.
18:54
وَلَقَدْ And certainly walaqad
And certainly
صَرَّفْنَا We have explained ṣarrafnā
We have explained
فِى in
in
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
ٱلْقُرْءَانِ the Quran l-qur'āni
the Quran
لِلنَّاسِ for mankind lilnnāsi
for mankind
مِن of min
of
كُلِّ every kulli
every
مَثَلٍۢ ۚ example mathalin
example
وَكَانَ But is wakāna
But is
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ the man l-insānu
the man
أَكْثَرَ (in) most akthara
(in) most
شَىْءٍۢ things shayin
things
جَدَلًۭا quarrelsome jadalan
quarrelsome
٥٤ (54)
(54)
Et assurément, Nous avons déployé pour les gens, dans ce Coran, toutes sortes d’exemples. L’homme, cependant, est de tous les êtres le plus grand disputeur.
18:55
وَمَا And nothing wamā
And nothing
مَنَعَ prevents manaʿa
prevents
ٱلنَّاسَ men l-nāsa
men
أَن that an
that
يُؤْمِنُوٓا۟ they believe yu'minū
they believe
إِذْ when idh
when
جَآءَهُمُ has come to them jāahumu
has come to them
ٱلْهُدَىٰ the guidance l-hudā
the guidance
وَيَسْتَغْفِرُوا۟ and they ask forgiveness wayastaghfirū
and they ask forgiveness
رَبَّهُمْ (of) their Lord rabbahum
(of) their Lord
إِلَّآ except illā
except
أَن that an
that
تَأْتِيَهُمْ comes to them tatiyahum
comes to them
سُنَّةُ (the) way sunnatu
(the) way
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ (of) the former (people) l-awalīna
(of) the former (people)
أَوْ or aw
or
يَأْتِيَهُمُ comes to them yatiyahumu
comes to them
ٱلْعَذَابُ the punishment l-ʿadhābu
the punishment
قُبُلًۭا before (them) qubulan
before (them)
٥٥ (55)
(55)
Qu’est-ce qui a donc empêché les gens de croire, lorsque le guide leur est venu, ainsi que de demander pardon à leur Seigneur, si ce n’est qu’ils voulaient subir le sort des Anciens, ou se trouver face à face avec le châtiment.
18:56
وَمَا And not wamā
And not
نُرْسِلُ We send nur'silu
We send
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ the Messengers l-mur'salīna
the Messengers
إِلَّا except illā
except
مُبَشِّرِينَ (as) bearers of glad tidings mubashirīna
(as) bearers of glad tidings
وَمُنذِرِينَ ۚ and (as) warners wamundhirīna
and (as) warners
وَيُجَـٰدِلُ And dispute wayujādilu
And dispute
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve kafarū
disbelieve
بِٱلْبَـٰطِلِ with falsehood bil-bāṭili
with falsehood
لِيُدْحِضُوا۟ to refute liyud'ḥiḍū
to refute
بِهِ thereby bihi
thereby
ٱلْحَقَّ ۖ the truth l-ḥaqa
the truth
وَٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ And they take wa-ittakhadhū
And they take
ءَايَـٰتِى My Verses āyātī
My Verses
وَمَآ and what wamā
and what
أُنذِرُوا۟ they are warned undhirū
they are warned
هُزُوًۭا (in) ridicule huzuwan
(in) ridicule
٥٦ (56)
(56)
Et Nous n’envoyons les Messagers que pour annoncer la bonne nouvelle et avertir. Et ceux qui ont mécru disputent avec de faux arguments, afin d’infirmer la vérité et prennent en raillerie Mes versets (le Coran) ainsi que ce (châtiment) dont on les a avertis.
18:57
وَمَنْ And who waman
And who
أَظْلَمُ (is) more wrong aẓlamu
(is) more wrong
مِمَّن than (he) who mimman
than (he) who
ذُكِّرَ is reminded dhukkira
is reminded
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ of the Verses biāyāti
of the Verses
رَبِّهِۦ (of) his Lord rabbihi
(of) his Lord
فَأَعْرَضَ but turns away fa-aʿraḍa
but turns away
عَنْهَا from them ʿanhā
from them
وَنَسِىَ and forgets wanasiya
and forgets
مَا what
what
قَدَّمَتْ have sent forth qaddamat
have sent forth
يَدَاهُ ۚ his hands yadāhu
his hands
إِنَّا Indeed, We innā
Indeed, We
جَعَلْنَا [We] have placed jaʿalnā
[We] have placed
عَلَىٰ over ʿalā
over
قُلُوبِهِمْ their hearts qulūbihim
their hearts
أَكِنَّةً coverings akinnatan
coverings
أَن lest an
lest
يَفْقَهُوهُ they understand it yafqahūhu
they understand it
وَفِىٓ and in wafī
and in
ءَاذَانِهِمْ their ears ādhānihim
their ears
وَقْرًۭا ۖ (is) deafness waqran
(is) deafness
وَإِن And if wa-in
And if
تَدْعُهُمْ you call them tadʿuhum
you call them
إِلَى to ilā
to
ٱلْهُدَىٰ the guidance l-hudā
the guidance
فَلَن then never falan
then never
يَهْتَدُوٓا۟ they will be guided yahtadū
they will be guided
إِذًا then idhan
then
أَبَدًۭا ever abadan
ever
٥٧ (57)
(57)
Quel pire injuste que celui à qui on a rappelé les versets de son Seigneur et qui s’en détourna en oubliant ce que ses deux mains ont commis ? Nous avons placé des voiles sur leurs cœurs, de sorte qu’ils ne comprennent pas (le Coran), et mis une lourdeur dans leurs oreilles. Même si tu les appelles vers la bonne voie, jamais ils ne pourront donc se guider.
18:58
وَرَبُّكَ And your Lord warabbuka
And your Lord
ٱلْغَفُورُ (is) the Most Forgiving l-ghafūru
(is) the Most Forgiving
ذُو Owner dhū
Owner
ٱلرَّحْمَةِ ۖ (of) the Mercy l-raḥmati
(of) the Mercy
لَوْ If law
If
يُؤَاخِذُهُم He were to seize them yuākhidhuhum
He were to seize them
بِمَا for what bimā
for what
كَسَبُوا۟ they have earned kasabū
they have earned
لَعَجَّلَ surely, He (would) have hastened laʿajjala
surely, He (would) have hastened
لَهُمُ for them lahumu
for them
ٱلْعَذَابَ ۚ the punishment l-ʿadhāba
the punishment
بَل But bal
But
لَّهُم for them lahum
for them
مَّوْعِدٌۭ (is) an appointment mawʿidun
(is) an appointment
لَّن never lan
never
يَجِدُوا۟ they will find yajidū
they will find
مِن other than it min
other than it
دُونِهِۦ other than it dūnihi
other than it
مَوْئِلًۭا an escape mawilan
an escape
٥٨ (58)
(58)
Et ton Seigneur est le Pardonneur, le Détenteur de la miséricorde. S’il s’en prenait à eux pour ce qu’ils ont acquis, Il leur hâterait certes le châtiment. Mais il y a pour eux un rendez-vous (pour l’accomplissement des menaces) contre lequel ils ne trouveront aucun refuge.
18:59
وَتِلْكَ And these watil'ka
And these
ٱلْقُرَىٰٓ [the] towns l-qurā
[the] towns
أَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ We destroyed them ahlaknāhum
We destroyed them
لَمَّا when lammā
when
ظَلَمُوا۟ they wronged ẓalamū
they wronged
وَجَعَلْنَا and We made wajaʿalnā
and We made
لِمَهْلِكِهِم for their destruction limahlikihim
for their destruction
مَّوْعِدًۭا an appointed time mawʿidan
an appointed time
٥٩ (59)
(59)
Et voilà les villes que Nous avons fait périr quand leurs peuples commirent des injustices et Nous avons fixé un rendez-vous pour leur destruction.
18:60
وَإِذْ And when wa-idh
And when
قَالَ said qāla
said
مُوسَىٰ Musa mūsā
Musa
لِفَتَىٰهُ to his boy lifatāhu
to his boy
لَآ Not
Not
أَبْرَحُ I will cease abraḥu
I will cease
حَتَّىٰٓ until ḥattā
until
أَبْلُغَ I reach ablugha
I reach
مَجْمَعَ the junction majmaʿa
the junction
ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ (of) the two seas l-baḥrayni
(of) the two seas
أَوْ or aw
or
أَمْضِىَ I continue amḍiya
I continue
حُقُبًۭا (for) a long period ḥuquban
(for) a long period
٦٠ (60)
(60)
(Rappelle-toi) quand Moïse dit à son valet : "Je n’arrêterai pas avant d’avoir atteint le confluent des deux mers, dussé-je marcher de longues années."
18:61
فَلَمَّا But when falammā
But when
بَلَغَا they reached balaghā
they reached
مَجْمَعَ the junction majmaʿa
the junction
بَيْنِهِمَا between them baynihimā
between them
نَسِيَا they forgot nasiyā
they forgot
حُوتَهُمَا their fish ḥūtahumā
their fish
فَٱتَّخَذَ and it took fa-ittakhadha
and it took
سَبِيلَهُۥ its way sabīlahu
its way
فِى into
into
ٱلْبَحْرِ the sea l-baḥri
the sea
سَرَبًۭا slipping away saraban
slipping away
٦١ (61)
(61)
Puis, lorsque tous deux eurent atteint le confluent, ils oublièrent leur poisson qui prit alors librement son chemin dans la mer.
18:62
فَلَمَّا Then when falammā
Then when
جَاوَزَا they had passed beyond jāwazā
they had passed beyond
قَالَ he said qāla
he said
لِفَتَىٰهُ to his boy lifatāhu
to his boy
ءَاتِنَا Bring us ātinā
Bring us
غَدَآءَنَا our morning meal ghadāanā
our morning meal
لَقَدْ Certainly laqad
Certainly
لَقِينَا we have suffered laqīnā
we have suffered
مِن in min
in
سَفَرِنَا our journey safarinā
our journey
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
نَصَبًۭا fatigue naṣaban
fatigue
٦٢ (62)
(62)
Puis, lorsque tous deux eurent dépassé [cet endroit,] il dit à son valet : "Apporte-nous notre déjeuner: nous avons rencontré de la fatigue dans notre présent voyage."
18:63
قَالَ He said qāla
He said
أَرَءَيْتَ Did you see ara-ayta
Did you see
إِذْ when idh
when
أَوَيْنَآ we retired awaynā
we retired
إِلَى to ilā
to
ٱلصَّخْرَةِ the rock l-ṣakhrati
the rock
فَإِنِّى Then indeed, I fa-innī
Then indeed, I
نَسِيتُ [I] forgot nasītu
[I] forgot
ٱلْحُوتَ the fish l-ḥūta
the fish
وَمَآ And not wamā
And not
أَنسَىٰنِيهُ made me forget it ansānīhu
made me forget it
إِلَّا except illā
except
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ the Shaitaan l-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan
أَنْ that an
that
أَذْكُرَهُۥ ۚ I mention it adhkurahu
I mention it
وَٱتَّخَذَ And it took wa-ittakhadha
And it took
سَبِيلَهُۥ its way sabīlahu
its way
فِى into
into
ٱلْبَحْرِ the sea l-baḥri
the sea
عَجَبًۭا amazingly ʿajaban
amazingly
٦٣ (63)
(63)
[Le valet lui] dit : "Quand nous avons pris refuge près du rocher, vois-tu, j’ai oublié le poisson - le Diable (Satan) seul m’a fait oublier de (te) le rappeler - et il a curieusement pris son chemin dans la mer."
18:64
قَالَ He said qāla
He said
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika
That
مَا (is) what
(is) what
كُنَّا we were kunnā
we were
نَبْغِ ۚ seeking nabghi
seeking
فَٱرْتَدَّا So they returned fa-ir'taddā
So they returned
عَلَىٰٓ on ʿalā
on
ءَاثَارِهِمَا their footprints āthārihimā
their footprints
قَصَصًۭا retracing qaṣaṣan
retracing
٦٤ (64)
(64)
[Moïse] dit : "Voilà ce que nous cherchions." Puis, ils retournèrent sur leurs pas, suivant leurs traces.
18:65
فَوَجَدَا Then they found fawajadā
Then they found
عَبْدًۭا a servant ʿabdan
a servant
مِّنْ from min
from
عِبَادِنَآ Our servants ʿibādinā
Our servants
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ whom We had given ātaynāhu
whom We had given
رَحْمَةًۭ mercy raḥmatan
mercy
مِّنْ from min
from
عِندِنَا Us ʿindinā
Us
وَعَلَّمْنَـٰهُ and We had taught him waʿallamnāhu
and We had taught him
مِن from min
from
لَّدُنَّا Us ladunnā

Ils trouvèrent l’un de Nos serviteurs à qui Nous avions donné une grâce, de Notre part, et à qui Nous avions enseigné une science émanant de Nous.
18:66

Moïse lui dit : "Puis-je suivre, à la condition que tu m’apprennes de ce qu’on t’a appris concernant une bonne direction ?"

[L’autre] dit : "Vraiment, tu ne pourras jamais être patient avec moi.

وَكَيْفَ And how can wakayfa

Comment patienterais-tu sur des choses que tu n’embrasses pas par ta connaissance ? ”

سَتَجِدُنِىٓ You will find me satajidunī

[Moïse] lui dit : "Si Allah veut, tu me trouveras patient; et je ne désobéirai à aucun de tes ordres."

"Si tu me suis, dit [l’autre,] ne m’interroge sur rien tant que je ne t’en aurai pas fait mention."

فَٱنطَلَقَا So they both set out fa-inṭalaqā

رَكِبَا they had embarked rakibā

فِى on

ٱلسَّفِينَةِ the ship l-safīnati
the ship
خَرَقَهَا ۖ he made a hole in it kharaqahā

أَخَرَقْتَهَا Have you made a hole in it akharaqtahā
Have you made a hole in it
لِتُغْرِقَ to drown litugh'riqa
to drown
أَهْلَهَا its people ahlahā
its people
لَقَدْ Certainly laqad
Certainly
جِئْتَ you have done ji'ta
you have done
شَيْـًٔا a thing shayan
a thing
إِمْرًۭا grave im'ran
grave
٧١ (71)

Alors les deux partirent. Et après qu’ils furent montés sur un bateau, l’homme y fit une brèche. [Moïse] lui dit : "Est-ce pour noyer ses occupants que tu l’as ébréché ? Tu as commis, certes, une chose monstrueuse !"

"Ne t’en prend pas à moi, dit [Moïse,] pour un oubli de ma part; et ne m’impose pas de grande difficulté dans mon affaire."
18:74
فَٱنطَلَقَا Then they both set out fa-inṭalaqā

فَقَتَلَهُۥ then he killed him faqatalahu

نَفْسًۭا a soul nafsan

زَكِيَّةًۢ pure zakiyyatan

بِغَيْرِ for other than bighayri

لَّقَدْ Certainly laqad

جِئْتَ you have done ji'ta
you have done
شَيْـًۭٔا a thing shayan
a thing
نُّكْرًۭا evil nuk'ran

Puis ils partirent tous deux; et quand ils eurent rencontré un enfant, [l’homme] le tua. Alors [Moïse] lui dit : "As-tu tué un être innocent, qui n’a tué personne ? Tu as commis certes, une chose affreuse !"

"Si, après cela, je t’interroge sur quoi que ce soit, dit [Moïse,] alors ne m’accompagne plus. Tu seras alors excusé de te séparer de moi."
18:77
فَٱنطَلَقَا So they set out fa-inṭalaqā

أَهْلَ (to the) people ahla

أَهْلَهَا (from) its people ahlahā
(from) its people
فَأَبَوْا۟ but they refused fa-abaw
but they refused
أَن to an

يُضَيِّفُوهُمَا offer them hospitality yuḍayyifūhumā
offer them hospitality
فَوَجَدَا Then they found fawajadā
Then they found
فِيهَا in it fīhā
in it
جِدَارًۭا a wall jidāran
a wall
يُرِيدُ (that) want(ed) yurīdu
(that) want(ed)
أَن to an
to
يَنقَضَّ collapse yanqaḍḍa
collapse
فَأَقَامَهُۥ ۖ so he set it straight fa-aqāmahu
so he set it straight
قَالَ He said qāla

لَوْ If law

شِئْتَ you wished shi'ta
you wished
لَتَّخَذْتَ surely you (could) have taken lattakhadhta
surely you (could) have taken
عَلَيْهِ for it ʿalayhi
for it
أَجْرًۭا a payment ajran
a payment

(77)
Ils partirent donc tous deux; et quand ils furent arrivés à un village habité, ils demandèrent à manger à ses habitants; mais ceux-ci refusèrent de leur donner l’hospitalité. Ensuite, ils y trouvèrent un mur sur le point de s’écrouler. L’homme le redressa. Alors [Moïse] lui dit : "Si tu voulais, tu aurais bien pu réclamer pour cela un salaire."
18:78

هَـٰذَا This hādhā

فِرَاقُ (is) parting firāqu

بَيْنِى between me baynī

وَبَيْنِكَ ۚ and between you wabaynika

سَأُنَبِّئُكَ I will inform you sa-unabbi-uka

بِتَأْوِيلِ of (the) interpretation bitawīli
of (the) interpretation
مَا (of) what

لَمْ not lam
not
تَسْتَطِع you were able tastaṭiʿ
you were able
عَّلَيْهِ on it ʿalayhi
on it
صَبْرًا (to have) patience ṣabran
(to have) patience

"Ceci [marque] la séparation entre toi et moi, dit [l’homme,] Je vais t’apprendre l’interprétation de ce que tu n’as pu supporter avec patience.
18:79
أَمَّا As for ammā
As for
ٱلسَّفِينَةُ the ship l-safīnatu
the ship
فَكَانَتْ it was fakānat
it was
لِمَسَـٰكِينَ of (the) poor people limasākīna
of (the) poor people
يَعْمَلُونَ working yaʿmalūna
working
فِى in
in
ٱلْبَحْرِ the sea l-baḥri
the sea
فَأَرَدتُّ So I intended fa-aradttu
So I intended
أَنْ that an
that
أَعِيبَهَا I cause defect (in) it aʿībahā
I cause defect (in) it
وَكَانَ (as there) was wakāna
(as there) was
وَرَآءَهُم after them warāahum
after them
مَّلِكٌۭ a king malikun
a king
يَأْخُذُ who seized yakhudhu
who seized
كُلَّ every kulla
every
سَفِينَةٍ ship safīnatin
ship
غَصْبًۭا (by) force ghaṣban
(by) force
٧٩ (79)
(79)
Pour ce qui est du bateau, il appartenait à des pauvres gens qui travaillaient en mer. Je voulais donc le rendre défectueux, car il y avait derrière eux un roi qui saisissait de force tout bateau.
18:80
وَأَمَّا And as for wa-ammā
And as for
ٱلْغُلَـٰمُ the boy l-ghulāmu
the boy
فَكَانَ his parents were fakāna
his parents were
أَبَوَاهُ his parents were abawāhu
his parents were
مُؤْمِنَيْنِ believers mu'minayni
believers
فَخَشِينَآ and we feared fakhashīnā
and we feared
أَن that an
that
يُرْهِقَهُمَا he would overburden them yur'hiqahumā
he would overburden them
طُغْيَـٰنًۭا (by) transgression ṭugh'yānan
(by) transgression
وَكُفْرًۭا and disbelief wakuf'ran
and disbelief
٨٠ (80)
(80)
Quant au garçon, ses père et mère étaient des croyants; nous avons craint qu’il ne leur imposât la rébellion et la mécréance.
18:81
فَأَرَدْنَآ So we intended fa-aradnā
So we intended
أَن that an
that
يُبْدِلَهُمَا would change for them yub'dilahumā
would change for them
رَبُّهُمَا their Lord rabbuhumā
their Lord
خَيْرًۭا a better khayran
a better
مِّنْهُ than him min'hu
than him
زَكَوٰةًۭ (in) purity zakatan
(in) purity
وَأَقْرَبَ and nearer wa-aqraba
and nearer
رُحْمًۭا (in) affection ruḥ'man
(in) affection
٨١ (81)
(81)
Nous avons donc voulu que leur Seigneur leur accordât en échange un autre plus pur et plus affectueux.
18:82
وَأَمَّا And as for wa-ammā
And as for
ٱلْجِدَارُ the wall l-jidāru
the wall
فَكَانَ it was fakāna
it was
لِغُلَـٰمَيْنِ for two orphan boys lighulāmayni
for two orphan boys
يَتِيمَيْنِ for two orphan boys yatīmayni
for two orphan boys
فِى in
in
ٱلْمَدِينَةِ the town l-madīnati
the town
وَكَانَ and was wakāna
and was
تَحْتَهُۥ underneath it taḥtahu
underneath it
كَنزٌۭ a treasure kanzun
a treasure
لَّهُمَا for them lahumā
for them
وَكَانَ and was wakāna
and was
أَبُوهُمَا their father abūhumā
their father
صَـٰلِحًۭا righteous ṣāliḥan
righteous
فَأَرَادَ So intended fa-arāda
So intended
رَبُّكَ your Lord rabbuka
your Lord
أَن that an
that
يَبْلُغَآ they reach yablughā
they reach
أَشُدَّهُمَا their maturity ashuddahumā
their maturity
وَيَسْتَخْرِجَا and bring forth wayastakhrijā
and bring forth
كَنزَهُمَا their treasure kanzahumā
their treasure
رَحْمَةًۭ (as) a mercy raḥmatan
(as) a mercy
مِّن from min
from
رَّبِّكَ ۚ your Lord rabbika
your Lord
وَمَا And not wamā
And not
فَعَلْتُهُۥ I did it faʿaltuhu
I did it
عَنْ on ʿan
on
أَمْرِى ۚ my (own) accord amrī
my (own) accord
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika
That
تَأْوِيلُ (is the) interpretation tawīlu
(is the) interpretation
مَا (of) what
(of) what
لَمْ not lam
not
تَسْطِع you were able tasṭiʿ
you were able
عَّلَيْهِ on it ʿalayhi
on it
صَبْرًۭا (to have) patience ṣabran
(to have) patience
٨٢ (82)
(82)
Et quant au mur, il appartenait à deux garçons orphelins de la ville, et il y avait dessous un trésor à eux ; et leur père était un homme vertueux. Ton Seigneur a donc voulu que tous deux atteignent leur maturité et qu’ils extraient, [eux- mêmes] leur trésor, par une miséricorde de ton Seigneur Je ne l’ai d’ailleurs pas fait de mon propre chef. Voilà l’interprétation de ce que tu n’as pas pu endurer avec patience."
18:83
وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ And they ask you wayasalūnaka
And they ask you
عَن about ʿan

ذِى Dhul-qarnain dhī
Dhul-qarnain
ٱلْقَرْنَيْنِ ۖ Dhul-qarnain l-qarnayni
Dhul-qarnain
قُلْ Say qul

سَأَتْلُوا۟ I will recite sa-atlū
I will recite
عَلَيْكُم to you ʿalaykum
to you
مِّنْهُ about him min'hu
about him
ذِكْرًا a remembrance dhik'ran
a remembrance
٨٣ (83)

Et ils t’interrogent au sujet de Dhûl Qarnayn. Dis: “Je vais vous en citer quelque fait mémorable.”
18:84
إِنَّا Indeed, We innā
Indeed, We
مَكَّنَّا [We] established makkannā
[We] established
لَهُۥ [for] him lahu

فِى in

ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ and We gave him waātaynāhu

كُلِّ every kulli

شَىْءٍۢ thing shayin

سَبَبًۭا a means sababan
a means
٨٤ (84)

Vraiment, Nous avons affermi sa puissance sur Terre, et Nous lui avons donné libre voie à toute chose.
18:85
فَأَتْبَعَ So he followed fa-atbaʿa
So he followed
سَبَبًا a course sababan

Il suivit donc une voie.
18:86
حَتَّىٰٓ Until ḥattā

ٱلشَّمْسِ (of) the sun l-shamsi
(of) the sun
وَجَدَهَا he found it wajadahā

تَغْرُبُ setting taghrubu
setting
فِى in
in
عَيْنٍ a spring ʿaynin
a spring
حَمِئَةٍۢ (of) dark mud ḥami-atin
(of) dark mud
وَوَجَدَ and he found wawajada
and he found
عِندَهَا near it ʿindahā
near it
قَوْمًۭا ۗ a community qawman
a community
قُلْنَا We said qul'nā
We said
يَـٰذَا O Dhul-qarnain yādhā
O Dhul-qarnain
ٱلْقَرْنَيْنِ O Dhul-qarnain l-qarnayni
O Dhul-qarnain
إِمَّآ Either immā
Either
أَن [that] an
[that]
تُعَذِّبَ you punish tuʿadhiba
you punish
وَإِمَّآ or wa-immā
or
أَن [that] an
[that]
تَتَّخِذَ you take tattakhidha
you take
فِيهِمْ [in] them fīhim
[in] them
حُسْنًۭا (with) goodness ḥus'nan
(with) goodness
٨٦ (86)

Et quand il eut atteint le Couchant, il trouva que le soleil se couchait dans une source boueuse , et, auprès d’elle il trouva une peuplade [impie]. Nous dîmes : "Ô Dhûl-Qarnayn ! Ou tu les châties, ou tu uses de bienveillance à leur égard."
18:87
قَالَ He said qāla
He said
أَمَّا As for ammā
As for
مَن (one) who man
(one) who
ظَلَمَ wrongs ẓalama
wrongs
فَسَوْفَ then soon fasawfa
then soon
نُعَذِّبُهُۥ we will punish him nuʿadhibuhu
we will punish him
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
يُرَدُّ he will be returned yuraddu
he will be returned
إِلَىٰ to ilā
to
رَبِّهِۦ his Lord rabbihi
his Lord
فَيُعَذِّبُهُۥ and He will punish him fayuʿadhibuhu
and He will punish him
عَذَابًۭا (with) a punishment ʿadhāban
(with) a punishment
نُّكْرًۭا terrible nuk'ran
terrible
٨٧ (87)
(87)
Il dit : "Quant à celui qui est injuste, nous le châtierons ; ensuite il sera ramené vers son Seigneur qui le punira d’un châtiment terrible.
18:88
وَأَمَّا But as for wa-ammā
But as for
مَنْ (one) who man
(one) who
ءَامَنَ believes āmana
believes
وَعَمِلَ and does waʿamila
and does
صَـٰلِحًۭا righteous (deeds) ṣāliḥan
righteous (deeds)
فَلَهُۥ then for him falahu
then for him
جَزَآءً (is) a reward jazāan
(is) a reward
ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۖ good l-ḥus'nā
good
وَسَنَقُولُ And we will speak wasanaqūlu
And we will speak
لَهُۥ to him lahu
to him
مِنْ from min
from
أَمْرِنَا our command amrinā
our command
يُسْرًۭا (with) ease yus'ran
(with) ease
٨٨ (88)
(88)
Et quant à celui qui croit et fait bonne œuvre, il aura, en retour, la plus belle récompense. Et nous lui donnerons des ordres faciles à exécuter."
18:89
ثُمَّ Then thumma

ٱلشَّمْسِ (of) the sun l-shamsi
(of) the sun
وَجَدَهَا and he found it wajadahā
and he found it
تَطْلُعُ rising taṭluʿu
rising
عَلَىٰ on ʿalā
on
قَوْمٍۢ a community qawmin
a community
لَّمْ not lam
not
نَجْعَل We made najʿal
We made
لَّهُم for them lahum
for them
مِّن against it min
against it
دُونِهَا against it dūnihā
against it
سِتْرًۭا any shelter sit'ran
any shelter
٩٠ (90)

Et quand il eut atteint le Levant, il trouva que le soleil se levait sur une peuplade à laquelle Nous n’avions pas donné de voile pour s’en protéger.
18:91
كَذَٰلِكَ Thus kadhālika
Thus
وَقَدْ And verily waqad
And verily
أَحَطْنَا We encompassed aḥaṭnā
We encompassed
بِمَا of what bimā
of what
لَدَيْهِ (was) with him ladayhi
(was) with him
خُبْرًۭا (of the) information khub'ran
(of the) information

Il en fut ainsi et Nous embrassons de Notre Science ce qu’il détenait.
18:92
ثُمَّ Then thumma

أَتْبَعَ he followed atbaʿa

سَبَبًا a course sababan

Puis, il suivit (une autre) voie.

وَجَدَ he found wajada

قَوْمًۭا a community qawman
a community
لَّا not

يَكَادُونَ who would almost yakādūna
who would almost
يَفْقَهُونَ understand yafqahūna
understand
قَوْلًۭا (his) speech qawlan
(his) speech
٩٣ (93)

Jusqu’à ce qu’il eut atteint un endroit situé entre les Deux Barrières (montagnes), il trouva derrière elles une peuplade qui ne comprenait presque aucun langage.
18:94
قَالُوا۟ They said qālū

يَـٰذَا O Dhul-qarnain yādhā
O Dhul-qarnain
ٱلْقَرْنَيْنِ O Dhul-qarnain l-qarnayni
O Dhul-qarnain
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
يَأْجُوجَ Yajuj yajūja
Yajuj
وَمَأْجُوجَ and Majuj wamajūja
and Majuj
مُفْسِدُونَ (are) corrupters muf'sidūna
(are) corrupters
فِى in
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ the land l-arḍi
the land
فَهَلْ So may fahal
So may
نَجْعَلُ we make najʿalu
we make
لَكَ for you laka
for you
خَرْجًا an expenditure kharjan
an expenditure
عَلَىٰٓ [on] ʿalā
[on]
أَن that an
that
تَجْعَلَ you make tajʿala
you make
بَيْنَنَا between us baynanā
between us
وَبَيْنَهُمْ and between them wabaynahum
and between them
سَدًّۭا a barrier saddan
a barrier
٩٤ (94)
(94)
Ils dirent : “Ô Dhûl Qarnayn ! Les Gog (Yajûj) et les Magog (Majûj) commettent du désordre sur terre. Est-ce que nous pourrons t’accorder un tribut pour construire un barrage entre eux et nous ? ”
18:95
قَالَ He said qāla

مَكَّنِّى has established me makkannī

فَأَعِينُونِى but assist me fa-aʿīnūnī

بِقُوَّةٍ with strength biquwwatin
with strength
أَجْعَلْ I will make ajʿal
I will make
بَيْنَكُمْ between you baynakum
between you
وَبَيْنَهُمْ and between them wabaynahum
and between them
رَدْمًا a barrier radman
a barrier
٩٥ (95)
(95)
Il dit : "Ce que Mon Seigneur m’a conféré vaut mieux (que vos dons). Aidez-moi donc avec force et je construirai un remblai entre vous et eux !
18:96
ءَاتُونِى Bring me ātūnī
Bring me
زُبَرَ sheets zubara
sheets
ٱلْحَدِيدِ ۖ (of) iron l-ḥadīdi
(of) iron
حَتَّىٰٓ until ḥattā
until
إِذَا when idhā
when
سَاوَىٰ he (had) leveled sāwā
he (had) leveled
بَيْنَ between bayna
between
ٱلصَّدَفَيْنِ the two cliffs l-ṣadafayni
the two cliffs
قَالَ he said qāla
he said
ٱنفُخُوا۟ ۖ Blow unfukhū
Blow
حَتَّىٰٓ until ḥattā
until
إِذَا when idhā
when
جَعَلَهُۥ he made it jaʿalahu
he made it
نَارًۭا fire nāran
fire
قَالَ he said qāla
he said
ءَاتُونِىٓ Bring me ātūnī
Bring me
أُفْرِغْ I pour uf'righ
I pour
عَلَيْهِ over it ʿalayhi
over it
قِطْرًۭا molten copper qiṭ'ran
molten copper
٩٦ (96)
(96)
Apportez-moi des blocs de fer !" Puis, lorsqu’il en eut comblé l’espace entre les deux montagnes, il dit : "Soufflez !" Puis, lorsqu’il l’eut rendu une fournaise, il dit : "Apportez-moi du cuivre fondu, que je le déverse dessus."
18:97
فَمَا So not famā

ٱسْطَـٰعُوٓا۟ they were able is'ṭāʿū
they were able
أَن to an

يَظْهَرُوهُ scale it yaẓharūhu

وَمَا and not wamā
and not
ٱسْتَطَـٰعُوا۟ they were able is'taṭāʿū
they were able
لَهُۥ in it lahu

نَقْبًۭا (to do) any penetration naqban
(to do) any penetration
٩٧ (97)
(97)
Ainsi, ils ne purent guère l’escalader ni l’ébrécher non plus.
18:98
قَالَ He said qāla
He said
هَـٰذَا This hādhā
This
رَحْمَةٌۭ (is) a mercy raḥmatun
(is) a mercy
مِّن from min
from
رَّبِّى ۖ my Lord rabbī
my Lord
فَإِذَا But when fa-idhā
But when
جَآءَ comes jāa
comes
وَعْدُ (the) Promise waʿdu
(the) Promise
رَبِّى (of) my Lord rabbī
(of) my Lord
جَعَلَهُۥ He will make it jaʿalahu
He will make it
دَكَّآءَ ۖ level dakkāa
level
وَكَانَ And is wakāna
And is
وَعْدُ (the) Promise waʿdu
(the) Promise
رَبِّى (of) my Lord rabbī
(of) my Lord
حَقًّۭا true ḥaqqan
true
٩٨ (98)
(98)
Il dit : "C’est une miséricorde de la part de mon Seigneur. Mais, lorsque la promesse de mon Seigneur viendra, Il le nivellera . Et la promesse de mon Seigneur est vérité."
18:99
۞ وَتَرَكْنَا And We (will) leave wataraknā
And We (will) leave
بَعْضَهُمْ some of them baʿḍahum
some of them
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ (on) that Day yawma-idhin
(on) that Day
يَمُوجُ to surge yamūju
to surge
فِى over
over
بَعْضٍۢ ۖ others baʿḍin
others
وَنُفِخَ and (will be) blown wanufikha
and (will be) blown
فِى in
in
ٱلصُّورِ the trumpet l-ṣūri
the trumpet
فَجَمَعْنَـٰهُمْ then We (will) gather them fajamaʿnāhum
then We (will) gather them
جَمْعًۭا all together jamʿan
all together
٩٩ (99)
(99)
Nous les laisserons, ce jour-là, déferler comme les flots les uns sur les autres, et on soufflera dans la Trompe et Nous les rassemblerons tous.
18:100
وَعَرَضْنَا And We (will) present waʿaraḍnā
And We (will) present
جَهَنَّمَ Hell jahannama
Hell
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ (on) that Day yawma-idhin
(on) that Day
لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَ to the disbelievers lil'kāfirīna
to the disbelievers
عَرْضًا (on) display ʿarḍan
(on) display
١٠٠ (100)
(100)
Et ce jour-là Nous présenterons de près l’Enfer aux mécréants,
18:101
ٱلَّذِينَ Those alladhīna
Those
كَانَتْ had been kānat
had been
أَعْيُنُهُمْ their eyes aʿyunuhum
their eyes
فِى within
within
غِطَآءٍ a cover ghiṭāin
a cover
عَن from ʿan
from
ذِكْرِى My remembrance dhik'rī
My remembrance
وَكَانُوا۟ and were wakānū
and were
لَا not
not
يَسْتَطِيعُونَ able yastaṭīʿūna
able
سَمْعًا (to) hear samʿan
(to) hear
١٠١ (101)
(101)
ceux dont les yeux étaient couverts d’un voile qui les empêchait de penser à Moi, et ils ne pouvaient rien entendre non plus.
18:102
أَفَحَسِبَ Do then think afaḥasiba
Do then think
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوٓا۟ disbelieve kafarū
disbelieve
أَن that an
that
يَتَّخِذُوا۟ they (can) take yattakhidhū
they (can) take
عِبَادِى My servants ʿibādī
My servants
مِن besides Me min
besides Me
دُونِىٓ besides Me dūnī
besides Me
أَوْلِيَآءَ ۚ (as) protectors awliyāa
(as) protectors
إِنَّآ Indeed, We innā
Indeed, We
أَعْتَدْنَا We have prepared aʿtadnā
We have prepared
جَهَنَّمَ Hell jahannama
Hell
لِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ for the disbelievers lil'kāfirīna
for the disbelievers
نُزُلًۭا (as) a lodging nuzulan
(as) a lodging
١٠٢ (102)
(102)
Ceux qui ont mécru, comptent-ils donc pouvoir prendre, pour alliés, Mes serviteurs en dehors de Moi ? Nous avons préparé l’Enfer comme résidence pour les mécréants.
18:103
قُلْ Say qul
Say
هَلْ Shall hal
Shall
نُنَبِّئُكُم We inform you nunabbi-ukum
We inform you
بِٱلْأَخْسَرِينَ of the greatest losers bil-akhsarīna
of the greatest losers
أَعْمَـٰلًا (as to their) deeds aʿmālan
(as to their) deeds
١٠٣ (103)
(103)
Dis : "Voulez-vous que Nous vous apprenions lesquels sont les plus grands perdants, en œuvres ?
18:104
ٱلَّذِينَ Those alladhīna
Those
ضَلَّ is lost ḍalla
is lost
سَعْيُهُمْ their effort saʿyuhum
their effort
فِى in
in
ٱلْحَيَوٰةِ the life l-ḥayati
the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا (of) the world l-dun'yā
(of) the world
وَهُمْ while they wahum
while they
يَحْسَبُونَ think yaḥsabūna
think
أَنَّهُمْ that they annahum
that they
يُحْسِنُونَ (were) acquiring good yuḥ'sinūna
(were) acquiring good
صُنْعًا (in) work ṣun'ʿan
(in) work
١٠٤ (104)
(104)
Ceux dont l’effort, dans la vie présente, s’est égaré, alors qu’ils s’imaginent faire le bien.
18:105
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ulāika
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ (are) the ones who alladhīna
(are) the ones who
كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve kafarū
disbelieve
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ in the Verses biāyāti
in the Verses
رَبِّهِمْ (of) their Lord rabbihim
(of) their Lord
وَلِقَآئِهِۦ and the meeting (with) Him waliqāihi
and the meeting (with) Him
فَحَبِطَتْ So (are) vain faḥabiṭat
So (are) vain
أَعْمَـٰلُهُمْ their deeds aʿmāluhum
their deeds
فَلَا so not falā
so not
نُقِيمُ We will assign nuqīmu
We will assign
لَهُمْ for them lahum
for them
يَوْمَ (on) the Day yawma
(on) the Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
وَزْنًۭا any weight waznan
any weight
١٠٥ (105)
(105)
Ceux-là qui ont nié les signes de leur Seigneur, ainsi que Sa rencontre. Leurs actions sont donc vaines.” Nous ne leur assignerons aucun poids au Jour de la Résurrection.
18:106
ذَٰلِكَ That dhālika
That
جَزَآؤُهُمْ (is) their recompense jazāuhum
(is) their recompense
جَهَنَّمُ Hell jahannamu
Hell
بِمَا because bimā
because
كَفَرُوا۟ they disbelieved kafarū
they disbelieved
وَٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ and took wa-ittakhadhū
and took
ءَايَـٰتِى My Verses āyātī
My Verses
وَرُسُلِى and My Messengers warusulī
and My Messengers
هُزُوًا (in) ridicule huzuwan
(in) ridicule
١٠٦ (106)
(106)
C’est que leur rétribution sera l’Enfer, pour avoir mécru et pris en raillerie Mes signes (enseignements) et Mes Messagers.
18:107
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟ believed āmanū
believed
وَعَمِلُوا۟ and did waʿamilū
and did
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti
righteous deeds
كَانَتْ for them will be kānat
for them will be
لَهُمْ for them will be lahum
for them will be
جَنَّـٰتُ Gardens jannātu
Gardens
ٱلْفِرْدَوْسِ (of) the Paradise l-fir'dawsi
(of) the Paradise
نُزُلًا (as) a lodging nuzulan
(as) a lodging
١٠٧ (107)
(107)
Ceux qui croient et font de bonnes œuvres auront pour résidence les Jardins du Paradis (Firdaws),
18:108
خَـٰلِدِينَ Abiding forever khālidīna
Abiding forever
فِيهَا in it fīhā
in it
لَا Not
Not
يَبْغُونَ they will desire yabghūna
they will desire
عَنْهَا from it ʿanhā
from it
حِوَلًۭا any transfer ḥiwalan
any transfer
١٠٨ (108)
(108)
où ils demeureront éternellement, sans désirer aucun changement.
18:109
قُل Say qul

لَّوْ If law
If
كَانَ were kāna
were
ٱلْبَحْرُ the sea l-baḥru
the sea
مِدَادًۭا ink midādan
ink
لِّكَلِمَـٰتِ for (the) Words likalimāti
for (the) Words
رَبِّى (of) my Lord rabbī
(of) my Lord
لَنَفِدَ surely (would be) exhausted lanafida
surely (would be) exhausted
ٱلْبَحْرُ the sea l-baḥru
the sea
قَبْلَ before qabla
before
أَن [that] an
[that]
تَنفَدَ (were) exhausted tanfada
(were) exhausted
كَلِمَـٰتُ (the) Words kalimātu
(the) Words
رَبِّى (of) my Lord rabbī
(of) my Lord
وَلَوْ even if walaw
even if
جِئْنَا We brought ji'nā
We brought
بِمِثْلِهِۦ (the) like (of) it bimith'lihi
(the) like (of) it
مَدَدًۭا (as) a supplement madadan
(as) a supplement
١٠٩ (109)
(109)
Dis : "Si la mer était une encre [pour écrire] les paroles de mon Seigneur, certes la mer s’épuiserait avant que ne soient épuisées les paroles de mon Seigneur, quand bien même Nous lui apporterions son équivalent comme renfort."
18:110
قُلْ Say qul
Say
إِنَّمَآ Only innamā
Only
أَنَا۠ I anā
I
بَشَرٌۭ (am) a man basharun
(am) a man
مِّثْلُكُمْ like you mith'lukum
like you
يُوحَىٰٓ Has been revealed yūḥā
Has been revealed
إِلَىَّ to me ilayya
to me
أَنَّمَآ that annamā
that
إِلَـٰهُكُمْ your God ilāhukum
your God
إِلَـٰهٌۭ (is) God ilāhun
(is) God
وَٰحِدٌۭ ۖ One wāḥidun
One
فَمَن So whoever faman
So whoever
كَانَ is kāna
is
يَرْجُوا۟ hoping yarjū
hoping
لِقَآءَ (for the) meeting liqāa
(for the) meeting
رَبِّهِۦ (with) his Lord rabbihi
(with) his Lord
فَلْيَعْمَلْ let him do falyaʿmal
let him do
عَمَلًۭا deeds ʿamalan
deeds
صَـٰلِحًۭا righteous ṣāliḥan
righteous
وَلَا and not walā
and not
يُشْرِكْ associate yush'rik
associate
بِعِبَادَةِ in (the) worship biʿibādati
in (the) worship
رَبِّهِۦٓ (of) his Lord rabbihi
(of) his Lord
أَحَدًۢا anyone aḥadan
anyone
١١٠ (110)
(110)
Dis : "Je ne suis qu'un être humain comme vous. Il m’a été révélé que votre Dieu est un Dieu unique! Quiconque, donc, espère rencontrer son Seigneur, qu’il fasse de bonnes actions et qu’il n’associe dans son adoration aucun à son Seigneur."
