الحجر
سورة الحجر (الحجر) هي السورة رقم ١٥ في القرآن الكريم — وهي سورة مكية تتألف من ٩٩ آية. السور المكية نزلت قبل هجرة النبي محمد ﷺ إلى المدينة، وتركّز غالبًا على الإيمان وتوحيد الله والآخرة.

بسملة
بِسْمِIn (the) namebis'miٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousl-raḥmāniٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmi
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
١٥:١
الٓر ۚAlif Laam Raalif-lam-raتِلْكَThesetil'kaءَايَـٰتُ(are) the Versesāyātuٱلْكِتَـٰبِ(of) the Bookl-kitābiوَقُرْءَانٍۢand Quranwaqur'āninمُّبِينٍۢclearmubīnin١
Alif, Lām, Rā. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur’ān [i.e., recitation].
١٥:٢
رُّبَمَاPerhapsrubamāيَوَدُّwill wishyawadduٱلَّذِينَthose whoalladhīnaكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedkafarūلَوْiflawكَانُوا۟they had beenkānūمُسْلِمِينَMuslimsmus'limīna٢
Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims.
١٥:٣
ذَرْهُمْLeave themdharhumيَأْكُلُوا۟(to) eatyakulūوَيَتَمَتَّعُوا۟and enjoywayatamattaʿūوَيُلْهِهِمُand diverted themwayul'hihimuٱلْأَمَلُ ۖthe hopel-amaluفَسَوْفَthen soonfasawfaيَعْلَمُونَthey will come to knowyaʿlamūna٣
Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know.
١٥:٤
وَمَآAnd notwamāأَهْلَكْنَاWe destroyedahlaknāمِنanyminقَرْيَةٍtownqaryatinإِلَّاbutillāوَلَهَا(there was) for itwalahāكِتَابٌۭa decreekitābunمَّعْلُومٌۭknownmaʿlūmun٤
And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree.
١٥:٥
مَّاNotmāتَسْبِقُ(can) advancetasbiquمِنْanyminأُمَّةٍnationummatinأَجَلَهَاits termajalahāوَمَاand notwamāيَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ(can) delay ityastakhirūna٥
No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter.
١٥:٦
وَقَالُوا۟And they saywaqālūيَـٰٓأَيُّهَاO youyāayyuhāٱلَّذِى(to) whomalladhīنُزِّلَhas been sent downnuzzilaعَلَيْهِ[on him]ʿalayhiٱلذِّكْرُthe Reminderl-dhik'ruإِنَّكَindeed, youinnakaلَمَجْنُونٌۭ(are) surely madlamajnūnun٦
And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad.
١٥:٧
لَّوْWhylawمَاnotmāتَأْتِينَاyou bring to ustatīnāبِٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِthe Angelsbil-malāikatiإِنifinكُنتَyou arekuntaمِنَofminaٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَthe truthfull-ṣādiqīna٧
Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?"
١٥:٨
مَاNotmāنُنَزِّلُWe send downnunazziluٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَthe Angelsl-malāikataإِلَّاexceptillāبِٱلْحَقِّwith the truthbil-ḥaqiوَمَاand notwamāكَانُوٓا۟they would bekānūإِذًۭاthenidhanمُّنظَرِينَgiven respitemunẓarīna٨
We do not send down the angels except with truth; and they [i.e., the disbelievers] would not then be reprieved.
١٥:٩
إِنَّاIndeed, WeinnāنَحْنُWenaḥnuنَزَّلْنَاhave sent downnazzalnāٱلذِّكْرَthe Reminderl-dhik'raوَإِنَّاand indeed, Wewa-innāلَهُۥof itlahuلَحَـٰفِظُونَ(are) surely Guardianslaḥāfiẓūna٩
Indeed, it is We who sent down the message [i.e., the Qur’ān], and indeed, We will be its guardian.
١٥:١٠
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlywalaqadأَرْسَلْنَاWe (had) sentarsalnāمِنbefore youminقَبْلِكَbefore youqablikaفِىinfīشِيَعِthe sectsshiyaʿiٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) the former (people)l-awalīna١٠
And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muḥammad], among the sects of the former peoples.
١٥:١١
وَمَاAnd notwamāيَأْتِيهِمcame to themyatīhimمِّنanyminرَّسُولٍMessengerrasūlinإِلَّاbutillāكَانُوا۟they didkānūبِهِۦat himbihiيَسْتَهْزِءُونَmockyastahziūna١١
And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him.
١٥:١٢
كَذَٰلِكَThuskadhālikaنَسْلُكُهُۥWe let it enternaslukuhuفِىinfīقُلُوبِ(the) heartsqulūbiٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ(of) the criminalsl-muj'rimīna١٢
Thus do We insert it [i.e., denial] into the hearts of the criminals.
١٥:١٣
لَاNotlāيُؤْمِنُونَthey believeyu'minūnaبِهِۦ ۖin itbihiوَقَدْand verilywaqadخَلَتْhave passedkhalatسُنَّةُthe way(s)sunnatuٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) the former (people)l-awalīna١٣
They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples.
١٥:١٤
وَلَوْAnd (even) ifwalawفَتَحْنَاWe openedfataḥnāعَلَيْهِمto themʿalayhimبَابًۭاa gatebābanمِّنَfromminaٱلسَّمَآءِthe heavenl-samāiفَظَلُّوا۟and they were to continuefaẓallūفِيهِthereinfīhiيَعْرُجُونَ(to) ascendyaʿrujūna١٤
And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend,
١٥:١٥
لَقَالُوٓا۟They would surely saylaqālūإِنَّمَاOnlyinnamāسُكِّرَتْhave been dazzledsukkiratأَبْصَـٰرُنَاour eyesabṣārunāبَلْNaybalنَحْنُwenaḥnuقَوْمٌۭ(are) a peopleqawmunمَّسْحُورُونَbewitchedmasḥūrūna١٥
They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic."
١٥:١٦
وَلَقَدْAnd verilywalaqadجَعَلْنَاWe have placedjaʿalnāفِىinfīٱلسَّمَآءِthe heavensl-samāiبُرُوجًۭاconstellationsburūjanوَزَيَّنَّـٰهَاand We have beautified itwazayyannāhāلِلنَّـٰظِرِينَfor the observerslilnnāẓirīna١٦
And We have placed within the heaven great stars and have beautified it for the observers.
١٥:١٧
وَحَفِظْنَـٰهَاAnd We have protected itwaḥafiẓ'nāhāمِنfromminكُلِّeverykulliشَيْطَـٰنٍۢdevilshayṭāninرَّجِيمٍaccursedrajīmin١٧
And We have protected it from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allāh]
١٥:١٨
إِلَّاExceptillāمَنِ(one) whomaniٱسْتَرَقَstealsis'taraqaٱلسَّمْعَthe hearingl-samʿaفَأَتْبَعَهُۥthen follows himfa-atbaʿahuشِهَابٌۭa burning flameshihābunمُّبِينٌۭclearmubīnun١٨
Except one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a clear burning flame.
١٥:١٩
وَٱلْأَرْضَAnd the earthwal-arḍaمَدَدْنَـٰهَاWe have spread itmadadnāhāوَأَلْقَيْنَاand [We] castwa-alqaynāفِيهَاthereinfīhāرَوَٰسِىَfirm mountainsrawāsiyaوَأَنۢبَتْنَاand [We] caused to growwa-anbatnāفِيهَاthereinfīhāمِنofminكُلِّeverykulliشَىْءٍۢthingshayinمَّوْزُونٍۢwell-balancedmawzūnin١٩
And the earth - We have spread it and cast therein firmly set mountains and caused to grow therein [something] of every well-balanced thing.
١٥:٢٠
وَجَعَلْنَاAnd We have madewajaʿalnāلَكُمْfor youlakumفِيهَاthereinfīhāمَعَـٰيِشَmeans of livingmaʿāyishaوَمَنand whomwamanلَّسْتُمْyou are notlastumلَهُۥfor himlahuبِرَٰزِقِينَprovidersbirāziqīna٢٠
And We have made for you therein means of living and [for] those for whom you are not providers.
١٥:٢١
وَإِنAnd notwa-inمِّن(is) anyminشَىْءٍthingshayinإِلَّاbutillāعِندَنَاwith Usʿindanāخَزَآئِنُهُۥ(are) its treasureskhazāinuhuوَمَاand notwamāنُنَزِّلُهُۥٓWe send it downnunazziluhuإِلَّاexceptillāبِقَدَرٍۢin a measurebiqadarinمَّعْلُومٍۢknownmaʿlūmin٢١
And there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known [i.e., specified] measure.
١٥:٢٢
وَأَرْسَلْنَاAnd We have sentwa-arsalnāٱلرِّيَـٰحَthe windsl-riyāḥaلَوَٰقِحَfertilizinglawāqiḥaفَأَنزَلْنَاand We sent downfa-anzalnāمِنَfromminaٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyl-samāiمَآءًۭwatermāanفَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُمُوهُand We gave it to you to drinkfa-asqaynākumūhuوَمَآAnd notwamāأَنتُمْyouantumلَهُۥof itlahuبِخَـٰزِنِينَ(are) retainersbikhāzinīna٢٢
And We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers.
١٥:٢٣
وَإِنَّاAnd indeed, Wewa-innāلَنَحْنُsurely [We]lanaḥnuنُحْىِۦWe give lifenuḥ'yīوَنُمِيتُand We cause deathwanumītuوَنَحْنُand Wewanaḥnuٱلْوَٰرِثُونَ(are) the Inheritorsl-wārithūna٢٣
And indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor.
١٥:٢٤
وَلَقَدْAnd verilywalaqadعَلِمْنَاWe knowʿalim'nāٱلْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَthe preceding onesl-mus'taqdimīnaمِنكُمْamong youminkumوَلَقَدْand verilywalaqadعَلِمْنَاWe knowʿalim'nāٱلْمُسْتَـْٔخِرِينَthe later onesl-mus'takhirīna٢٤
And We have already known the preceding [generations] among you, and We have already known the later [ones to come].
١٥:٢٥
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaرَبَّكَyour LordrabbakaهُوَHehuwaيَحْشُرُهُمْ ۚwill gather themyaḥshuruhumإِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heinnahuحَكِيمٌ(is) All-WiseḥakīmunعَلِيمٌۭAll-Knowingʿalīmun٢٥
And indeed, your Lord will gather them; indeed, He is Wise and Knowing.
١٥:٢٦
وَلَقَدْAnd verilywalaqadخَلَقْنَاWe createdkhalaqnāٱلْإِنسَـٰنَhumankindl-insānaمِن(out) ofminصَلْصَـٰلٍۢsounding clayṣalṣālinمِّنْfromminحَمَإٍۢblack mudḥama-inمَّسْنُونٍۢalteredmasnūnin٢٦
And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud.
١٥:٢٧
وَٱلْجَآنَّAnd the jinnwal-jānaخَلَقْنَـٰهُWe created itkhalaqnāhuمِنbeforeminقَبْلُbeforeqabluمِنfromminنَّارِfirenāriٱلسَّمُومِscorchingl-samūmi٢٧
And the jinn We created before from scorching fire.
١٥:٢٨
وَإِذْAnd whenwa-idhقَالَyour Lord saidqālaرَبُّكَyour Lord saidrabbukaلِلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِto the Angelslil'malāikatiإِنِّىIndeed, Iinnīخَـٰلِقٌۢ(will) createkhāliqunبَشَرًۭاa human beingbasharanمِّن(out) ofminصَلْصَـٰلٍۢclayṣalṣālinمِّنْfromminحَمَإٍۢblack mudḥama-inمَّسْنُونٍۢalteredmasnūnin٢٨
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud.
١٥:٢٩
فَإِذَاSo, whenfa-idhāسَوَّيْتُهُۥI have fashioned himsawwaytuhuوَنَفَخْتُand [I] breathedwanafakhtuفِيهِinto himfīhiمِنofminرُّوحِىMy spiritrūḥīفَقَعُوا۟then fall downfaqaʿūلَهُۥto himlahuسَـٰجِدِينَprostratingsājidīna٢٩
And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration."
١٥:٣٠
فَسَجَدَSo prostratedfasajadaٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُthe Angelsl-malāikatuكُلُّهُمْall of themkulluhumأَجْمَعُونَtogetherajmaʿūna٣٠
So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely,
١٥:٣١
إِلَّآExceptillāإِبْلِيسَIblisib'līsaأَبَىٰٓHe refusedabāأَنtoanيَكُونَbeyakūnaمَعَwithmaʿaٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَthose who prostratedl-sājidīna٣١
Except Iblees; he refused to be with those who prostrated.
١٥:٣٢
قَالَHe saidqālaيَـٰٓإِبْلِيسُO Iblisyāib'līsuمَاWhatmāلَكَ(is) for youlakaأَلَّاthat notallāتَكُونَyou aretakūnaمَعَwithmaʿaٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَthose who prostratedl-sājidīna٣٢
[Allāh] said, "O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?"
١٥:٣٣
قَالَHe saidqālaلَمْI am notlamأَكُنI am notakunلِّأَسْجُدَ(one) to prostrateli-asjudaلِبَشَرٍto a humanlibasharinخَلَقْتَهُۥwhom You createdkhalaqtahuمِن(out) ofminصَلْصَـٰلٍۢclayṣalṣālinمِّنْfromminحَمَإٍۢblack mudḥama-inمَّسْنُونٍۢalteredmasnūnin٣٣
He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud."
١٥:٣٤
قَالَHe saidqālaفَٱخْرُجْThen get outfa-ukh'rujمِنْهَاof itmin'hāفَإِنَّكَfor indeed, youfa-innakaرَجِيمٌۭ(are) expelledrajīmun٣٤
[Allāh] said, "Then depart from it, for indeed, you are expelled.
١٥:٣٥
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaعَلَيْكَupon youʿalaykaٱللَّعْنَةَ(will be) the cursel-laʿnataإِلَىٰtillilāيَوْمِ(the) Dayyawmiٱلدِّينِ(of) [the] Judgmentl-dīni٣٥
And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense."
١٥:٣٦
قَالَHe saidqālaرَبِّO my LordrabbiفَأَنظِرْنِىٓThen give me respitefa-anẓir'nīإِلَىٰtillilāيَوْمِ(the) Dayyawmiيُبْعَثُونَthey are raisedyub'ʿathūna٣٦
He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected."
١٥:٣٧
قَالَHe saidqālaفَإِنَّكَThen indeed youfa-innakaمِنَ(are) ofminaٱلْمُنظَرِينَthe ones given respitel-munẓarīna٣٧
[Allāh] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved
١٥:٣٨
إِلَىٰTillilāيَوْمِthe Dayyawmiٱلْوَقْتِ(of) the timel-waqtiٱلْمَعْلُومِwell-knownl-maʿlūmi٣٨
Until the Day of the time well-known."
١٥:٣٩
قَالَHe saidqālaرَبِّMy LordrabbiبِمَآBecausebimāأَغْوَيْتَنِىYou misled meaghwaytanīلَأُزَيِّنَنَّsurely, I will make (evil) fair-seemingla-uzayyinannaلَهُمْto themlahumفِىinfīٱلْأَرْضِthe earthl-arḍiوَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْand I will mislead themwala-ugh'wiyannahumأَجْمَعِينَallajmaʿīna٣٩
[Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them [i.e., mankind] on earth, and I will mislead them all
١٥:٤٠
إِلَّاExceptillāعِبَادَكَYour slavesʿibādakaمِنْهُمُamong themmin'humuٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe ones who are sincerel-mukh'laṣīna٤٠
Except, among them, Your chosen servants."
١٥:٤١
قَالَHe saidqālaهَـٰذَاThishādhāصِرَٰطٌ(is) the wayṣirāṭunعَلَىَّto Meʿalayyaمُسْتَقِيمٌstraightmus'taqīmun٤١
[Allāh] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight.
١٥:٤٢
إِنَّIndeedinnaعِبَادِىMy slavesʿibādīلَيْسَnotlaysaلَكَyou havelakaعَلَيْهِمْover themʿalayhimسُلْطَـٰنٌany authoritysul'ṭānunإِلَّاexceptillāمَنِthose whomaniٱتَّبَعَكَfollow youittabaʿakaمِنَofminaٱلْغَاوِينَthe ones who go astrayl-ghāwīna٤٢
Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators.
١٥:٤٣
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaجَهَنَّمَHelljahannamaلَمَوْعِدُهُمْ(is) surely the promised place for themlamawʿiduhumأَجْمَعِينَallajmaʿīna٤٣
And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all.
١٥:٤٤
لَهَاFor itlahāسَبْعَةُ(are) sevensabʿatuأَبْوَٰبٍۢgatesabwābinلِّكُلِّfor eachlikulliبَابٍۢgatebābinمِّنْهُمْamong themmin'humجُزْءٌۭ(is) a portionjuz'onمَّقْسُومٌassignedmaqsūmun٤٤
It has seven gates; for every gate is of them [i.e., Satan's followers] a portion designated."
١٥:٤٥
إِنَّIndeedinnaٱلْمُتَّقِينَthe righteousl-mutaqīnaفِى(will be) infīجَنَّـٰتٍۢGardensjannātinوَعُيُونٍand water springswaʿuyūnin٤٥
Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs,
١٥:٤٦
ٱدْخُلُوهَاEnter itud'khulūhāبِسَلَـٰمٍin peacebisalāminءَامِنِينَsecureāminīna٤٦
[Having been told], "Enter it in peace, safe [and secure]."
١٥:٤٧
وَنَزَعْنَاAnd We (will) removewanazaʿnāمَاwhatmāفِى(is) infīصُدُورِهِمtheir breastsṣudūrihimمِّنْofminغِلٍّrancorghillinإِخْوَٰنًا(they will be) brothersikh'wānanعَلَىٰonʿalāسُرُرٍۢthronessururinمُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَfacing each othermutaqābilīna٤٧
And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other.
١٥:٤٨
لَاNotlāيَمَسُّهُمْwill touch themyamassuhumفِيهَاthereinfīhāنَصَبٌۭfatiguenaṣabunوَمَاand notwamāهُمtheyhumمِّنْهَاfrom itmin'hāبِمُخْرَجِينَwill be removedbimukh'rajīna٤٨
No fatigue will touch them therein, nor from it will they [ever] be removed.
١٥:٤٩
۞ نَبِّئْInformnabbiعِبَادِىٓMy slavesʿibādīأَنِّىٓthat IannīأَنَاI amanāٱلْغَفُورُthe Oft-Forgivingl-ghafūruٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmu٤٩
[O Muḥammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful,
١٥:٥٠
وَأَنَّAnd thatwa-annaعَذَابِىMy punishmentʿadhābīهُوَithuwaٱلْعَذَابُ(is) the punishmentl-ʿadhābuٱلْأَلِيمُthe most painfull-alīmu٥٠
And that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment.
١٥:٥١
وَنَبِّئْهُمْAnd inform themwanabbi'humعَنaboutʿanضَيْفِ(the) guestsḍayfiإِبْرَٰهِيمَ(of) Ibrahimib'rāhīma٥١
And inform them about the guests of Abraham,
١٥:٥٢
إِذْWhenidhدَخَلُوا۟they entereddakhalūعَلَيْهِupon himʿalayhiفَقَالُوا۟and saidfaqālūسَلَـٰمًۭاPeacesalāmanقَالَHe saidqālaإِنَّاIndeed, weinnāمِنكُمْ(are) of youminkumوَجِلُونَafraidwajilūna٥٢
When they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful [i.e., apprehensive] of you."
١٥:٥٣
قَالُوا۟They saidqālūلَا(Do) notlāتَوْجَلْbe afraidtawjalإِنَّاindeed, weinnāنُبَشِّرُكَ[we] bring glad tidings to younubashirukaبِغُلَـٰمٍof a boybighulāminعَلِيمٍۢlearnedʿalīmin٥٣
[The angels] said, "Fear not. Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy."
١٥:٥٤
قَالَHe saidqālaأَبَشَّرْتُمُونِىDo you give me glad tidingsabashartumūnīعَلَىٰٓDo you give me glad tidingsʿalāأَنalthoughanمَّسَّنِىَhas overtaken memassaniyaٱلْكِبَرُold agel-kibaruفَبِمَThen about whatfabimaتُبَشِّرُونَyou give glad tidingstubashirūna٥٤
He said, "Have you given me good tidings although old age has come upon me? Then of what [wonder] do you inform?"
١٥:٥٥
قَالُوا۟They saidqālūبَشَّرْنَـٰكَWe give you glad tidingsbasharnākaبِٱلْحَقِّin truthbil-ḥaqiفَلَاso (do) notfalāتَكُنbetakunمِّنَofminaٱلْقَـٰنِطِينَthe despairingl-qāniṭīna٥٥
They said, "We have given you good tidings in truth, so do not be of the despairing."
١٥:٥٦
قَالَHe saidqālaوَمَنAnd whowamanيَقْنَطُdespairsyaqnaṭuمِنofminرَّحْمَةِ(the) Mercyraḥmatiرَبِّهِۦٓ(of) his Lordrabbihiإِلَّاexceptillāٱلضَّآلُّونَthose who are astrayl-ḍālūna٥٦
He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray?"
١٥:٥٧
قَالَHe saidqālaفَمَاThen whatfamāخَطْبُكُمْ(is) your businesskhaṭbukumأَيُّهَاO messengersayyuhāٱلْمُرْسَلُونَO messengersl-mur'salūna٥٧
[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?"
١٥:٥٨
قَالُوٓا۟They saidqālūإِنَّآIndeed, weinnāأُرْسِلْنَآ[we] have been sentur'sil'nāإِلَىٰtoilāقَوْمٍۢa people qawminمُّجْرِمِينَcriminalsmuj'rimīna٥٨
They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals,
١٥:٥٩
إِلَّآExceptillāءَالَthe familyālaلُوطٍof Lutlūṭinإِنَّاindeed, weinnāلَمُنَجُّوهُمْsurely will save themlamunajjūhumأَجْمَعِينَallajmaʿīna٥٩
Except the family of Lot; indeed, we will save them all
١٥:٦٠
إِلَّاExceptillāٱمْرَأَتَهُۥhis wifeim'ra-atahuقَدَّرْنَآ ۙWe have decreedqaddarnāإِنَّهَاthat sheinnahāلَمِنَ(is) surely oflaminaٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَthose who remain behindl-ghābirīna٦٠
Except his wife." We [i.e., Allāh] decreed that she is of those who remain behind.
١٥:٦١
فَلَمَّاAnd whenfalammāجَآءَcamejāaءَالَ(to the) familyālaلُوطٍ(of) Lutlūṭinٱلْمُرْسَلُونَthe messengersl-mur'salūna٦١
And when the messengers came to the family of Lot,
١٥:٦٢
قَالَHe saidqālaإِنَّكُمْIndeed, youinnakumقَوْمٌۭ(are) a peopleqawmunمُّنكَرُونَunknownmunkarūna٦٢
He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown."
١٥:٦٣
قَالُوا۟They saidqālūبَلْNaybalجِئْنَـٰكَwe have come to youji'nākaبِمَاwith whatbimāكَانُوا۟they werekānūفِيهِin itfīhiيَمْتَرُونَdisputingyamtarūna٦٣
They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing,
١٥:٦٤
وَأَتَيْنَـٰكَAnd we have come to youwa-ataynākaبِٱلْحَقِّwith the truthbil-ḥaqiوَإِنَّاand indeed, wewa-innāلَصَـٰدِقُونَsurely (are) truthfullaṣādiqūna٦٤
And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful.
١٥:٦٥
فَأَسْرِSo travelfa-asriبِأَهْلِكَwith your familybi-ahlikaبِقِطْعٍۢin a portionbiqiṭ'ʿinمِّنَofminaٱلَّيْلِthe nightal-layliوَٱتَّبِعْand followwa-ittabiʿأَدْبَـٰرَهُمْtheir backsadbārahumوَلَاand notwalāيَلْتَفِتْlet look backyaltafitمِنكُمْamong youminkumأَحَدٌۭanyoneaḥadunوَٱمْضُوا۟and go onwa-im'ḍūحَيْثُwhereḥaythuتُؤْمَرُونَyou are orderedtu'marūna٦٥
So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded."
١٥:٦٦
وَقَضَيْنَآAnd We conveyedwaqaḍaynāإِلَيْهِto himilayhiذَٰلِكَ[that]dhālikaٱلْأَمْرَthe matterl-amraأَنَّthatannaدَابِرَ(the) rootdābiraهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ(of) thesehāulāiمَقْطُوعٌۭwould be cut offmaqṭūʿunمُّصْبِحِينَ(by) early morningmuṣ'biḥīna٦٦
And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning.
١٥:٦٧
وَجَآءَAnd camewajāaأَهْلُ(the) peopleahluٱلْمَدِينَةِ(of) the cityl-madīnatiيَسْتَبْشِرُونَrejoicingyastabshirūna٦٧
And the people of the city came rejoicing.
١٥:٦٨
قَالَHe saidqālaإِنَّIndeedinnaهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِthesehāulāiضَيْفِى(are) my guestsḍayfīفَلَاso (do) notfalāتَفْضَحُونِshame metafḍaḥūni٦٨
[Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me.
١٥:٦٩
وَٱتَّقُوا۟And fearwa-ittaqūٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaوَلَاand (do) notwalāتُخْزُونِdisgrace metukh'zūni٦٩
And fear Allāh and do not disgrace me."
١٥:٧٠
قَالُوٓا۟They saidqālūأَوَلَمْDid notawalamنَنْهَكَwe forbid younanhakaعَنِfromʿaniٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَthe worldl-ʿālamīna٧٠
They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?"
١٥:٧١
قَالَHe saidqālaهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِThesehāulāiبَنَاتِىٓ(are) my daughtersbanātīإِنifinكُنتُمْyou would bekuntumفَـٰعِلِينَdoersfāʿilīna٧١
[Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]."
١٥:٧٢
لَعَمْرُكَBy your lifelaʿamrukaإِنَّهُمْindeed, theyinnahumلَفِىwere inlafīسَكْرَتِهِمْtheir intoxicationsakratihimيَعْمَهُونَwandering blindlyyaʿmahūna٧٢
By your life, [O Muḥammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.
١٥:٧٣
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُSo, seized themfa-akhadhathumuٱلصَّيْحَةُthe awful cryl-ṣayḥatuمُشْرِقِينَat sunrisemush'riqīna٧٣
So the shriek seized them at sunrise.
١٥:٧٤
فَجَعَلْنَاAnd We madefajaʿalnāعَـٰلِيَهَاits highest (part)ʿāliyahāسَافِلَهَاits lowestsāfilahāوَأَمْطَرْنَاand We rainedwa-amṭarnāعَلَيْهِمْupon themʿalayhimحِجَارَةًۭstonesḥijāratanمِّنofminسِجِّيلٍbaked claysijjīlin٧٤
And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay.
١٥:٧٥
إِنَّIndeedinnaفِىinfīذَٰلِكَthatdhālikaلَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ(are) the Signslaāyātinلِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَfor those who discernlil'mutawassimīna٧٥
Indeed in that are signs for those who discern.
١٥:٧٦
وَإِنَّهَاAnd indeed, itwa-innahāلَبِسَبِيلٍۢ(is) on a roadlabisabīlinمُّقِيمٍestablishedmuqīmin٧٦
And indeed, they [i.e., those cities] are [situated] on an established road.
١٥:٧٧
إِنَّIndeedinnaفِىinfīذَٰلِكَthatdhālikaلَـَٔايَةًۭsurely (is) a Signlaāyatanلِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَfor the believerslil'mu'minīna٧٧
Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.
١٥:٧٨
وَإِنAnd werewa-inكَانَAnd werekānaأَصْحَـٰبُ(the) companionsaṣḥābuٱلْأَيْكَةِ(of) the woodl-aykatiلَظَـٰلِمِينَsurely wrongdoerslaẓālimīna٧٨
And the companions of the thicket [i.e., the people of Madyan] were [also] wrongdoers,
١٥:٧٩
فَٱنتَقَمْنَاSo We took retributionfa-intaqamnāمِنْهُمْfrom themmin'humوَإِنَّهُمَاand indeed, they bothwa-innahumāلَبِإِمَامٍۢ(were) on a highwaylabi-imāminمُّبِينٍۢclearmubīnin٧٩
So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway.
١٥:٨٠
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlywalaqadكَذَّبَdeniedkadhabaأَصْحَـٰبُ(the) companionsaṣḥābuٱلْحِجْرِ(of) the Rocky Tractl-ḥij'riٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengersl-mur'salīna٨٠
And certainly did the companions of al-Ḥijr [i.e., the Thamūd] deny the messengers.
١٥:٨١
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْAnd We gave themwaātaynāhumءَايَـٰتِنَاOur Signsāyātināفَكَانُوا۟but they werefakānūعَنْهَاfrom themʿanhāمُعْرِضِينَturning awaymuʿ'riḍīna٨١
And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away.
١٥:٨٢
وَكَانُوا۟And they used (to)wakānūيَنْحِتُونَcarveyanḥitūnaمِنَfromminaٱلْجِبَالِthe mountainsl-jibāliبُيُوتًاhousesbuyūtanءَامِنِينَsecureāminīna٨٢
And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure.
١٥:٨٣
فَأَخَذَتْهُمُBut seized themfa-akhadhathumuٱلصَّيْحَةُthe awful cryl-ṣayḥatuمُصْبِحِينَ(at) early morningmuṣ'biḥīna٨٣
But the shriek seized them at early morning,
١٥:٨٤
فَمَآAnd notfamāأَغْنَىٰavailedaghnāعَنْهُمthemʿanhumمَّاwhatmāكَانُوا۟they used (to)kānūيَكْسِبُونَearnyaksibūna٨٤
So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn.
١٥:٨٥
وَمَاAnd notwamāخَلَقْنَاWe createdkhalaqnāٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِthe heavensl-samāwātiوَٱلْأَرْضَand the earthwal-arḍaوَمَاand whateverwamāبَيْنَهُمَآ(is) between thembaynahumāإِلَّاexceptillāبِٱلْحَقِّ ۗin truthbil-ḥaqiوَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaٱلسَّاعَةَthe Hourl-sāʿataلَـَٔاتِيَةٌۭ ۖ(is) surely cominglaātiyatunفَٱصْفَحِSo overlookfa-iṣ'faḥiٱلصَّفْحَ(with) forgivenessl-ṣafḥaٱلْجَمِيلَgraciousl-jamīla٨٥
And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness.
١٥:٨٦
إِنَّIndeedinnaرَبَّكَyour LordrabbakaهُوَHehuwaٱلْخَلَّـٰقُ(is) the Creatorl-khalāquٱلْعَلِيمُthe All-Knowerl-ʿalīmu٨٦
Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator.
١٥:٨٧
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlywalaqadءَاتَيْنَـٰكَWe have given youātaynākaسَبْعًۭاsevensabʿanمِّنَofminaٱلْمَثَانِىthe oft-repeatedl-mathānīوَٱلْقُرْءَانَand the Quranwal-qur'ānaٱلْعَظِيمَGreatl-ʿaẓīma٨٧
And We have certainly given you, [O Muḥammad], seven of the often repeated [verses]1 and the great Qur’ān.
١٥:٨٨
لَا(Do) notlāتَمُدَّنَّextendtamuddannaعَيْنَيْكَyour eyesʿaynaykaإِلَىٰtowardsilāمَاwhatmāمَتَّعْنَاWe have bestowedmattaʿnāبِهِۦٓwith itbihiأَزْوَٰجًۭا(to) categoriesazwājanمِّنْهُمْof themmin'humوَلَاand (do) notwalāتَحْزَنْgrievetaḥzanعَلَيْهِمْover themʿalayhimوَٱخْفِضْAnd lowerwa-ikh'fiḍجَنَاحَكَyour wingjanāḥakaلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَto the believerslil'mu'minīna٨٨
Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of them [i.e., the disbelievers], and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing [i.e., show kindness] to the believers.
١٥:٨٩
وَقُلْAnd saywaqulإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iinnīأَنَا[I] amanāٱلنَّذِيرُa warnerl-nadhīruٱلْمُبِينُclearl-mubīnu٨٩
And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" -
١٥:٩٠
كَمَآAskamāأَنزَلْنَاWe sent downanzalnāعَلَىonʿalāٱلْمُقْتَسِمِينَthose who dividedl-muq'tasimīna٩٠
Just as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators
١٥:٩١
ٱلَّذِينَThose whoalladhīnaجَعَلُوا۟have madejaʿalūٱلْقُرْءَانَthe Quranl-qur'ānaعِضِينَ(in) partsʿiḍīna٩١
Who have made the Qur’ān into portions.
١٥:٩٢
فَوَرَبِّكَSo by your Lordfawarabbikaلَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمْsurely We will question themlanasalannahumأَجْمَعِينَallajmaʿīna٩٢
So by your Lord, We will surely question them all
١٥:٩٣
عَمَّاAbout whatʿammāكَانُوا۟they used (to)kānūيَعْمَلُونَdoyaʿmalūna٩٣
About what they used to do.
١٥:٩٤
فَٱصْدَعْSo proclaimfa-iṣ'daʿبِمَاof whatbimāتُؤْمَرُyou are orderedtu'maruوَأَعْرِضْand turn awaywa-aʿriḍعَنِfromʿaniٱلْمُشْرِكِينَthe polytheistsl-mush'rikīna٩٤
Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists.
١٥:٩٥
إِنَّاIndeed, Weinnāكَفَيْنَـٰكَ[We] are sufficient for youkafaynākaٱلْمُسْتَهْزِءِينَ(against) the mockersl-mus'tahziīna٩٥
Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers
١٥:٩٦
ٱلَّذِينَThose whoalladhīnaيَجْعَلُونَset upyajʿalūnaمَعَwithmaʿaٱللَّهِAllahl-lahiإِلَـٰهًاgodilāhanءَاخَرَ ۚanotherākharaفَسَوْفَBut soonfasawfaيَعْلَمُونَthey will come to knowyaʿlamūna٩٦
Who make [equal] with Allāh another deity. But they are going to know.
١٥:٩٧
وَلَقَدْAnd verilywalaqadنَعْلَمُWe knownaʿlamuأَنَّكَthat [you]annakaيَضِيقُ(is) straitenedyaḍīquصَدْرُكَyour breastṣadrukaبِمَاby whatbimāيَقُولُونَthey sayyaqūlūna٩٧
And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say.
١٥:٩٨
فَسَبِّحْSo glorifyfasabbiḥبِحَمْدِwith the praisebiḥamdiرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordrabbikaوَكُنand bewakunمِّنَofminaٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَthose who prostratel-sājidīna٩٨
So exalt [Allāh] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him].
١٥:٩٩
وَٱعْبُدْAnd worshipwa-uʿ'budرَبَّكَyour Lordrabbakaحَتَّىٰuntilḥattāيَأْتِيَكَcomes to youyatiyakaٱلْيَقِينُthe certaintyl-yaqīnu٩٩
And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty [i.e., death].
