بسملة

بِسْمِIn (the) nameٱللَّهِ(of) Allahٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

٢٦:١

طسٓمٓTa Seem Meem١

Ṭā, Seen, Meem.

٢٦:٢

تِلْكَTheseءَايَـٰتُ(are the) Versesٱلْكِتَـٰبِ(of) the Bookٱلْمُبِينِclear٢

These are the verses of the clear Book.

٢٦:٣

لَعَلَّكَPerhaps youبَـٰخِعٌۭ(would) killنَّفْسَكَyourselfأَلَّاthat notيَكُونُوا۟they becomeمُؤْمِنِينَbelievers٣

Perhaps, [O Muḥammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.

٢٦:٤

إِنIfنَّشَأْWe willنُنَزِّلْWe can send downعَلَيْهِمto themمِّنَfromٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyءَايَةًۭa Signفَظَلَّتْso would bendأَعْنَـٰقُهُمْtheir necksلَهَاto itخَـٰضِعِينَ(in) humility٤

If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled.

٢٦:٥

وَمَاAnd (does) notيَأْتِيهِمcome to themمِّنanyذِكْرٍۢreminderمِّنَfromٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousمُحْدَثٍnewإِلَّاbutكَانُوا۟theyعَنْهُfrom itمُعْرِضِينَturn away٥

And no mention [i.e., revelation] comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it.

٢٦:٦

فَقَدْSo verilyكَذَّبُوا۟they have deniedفَسَيَأْتِيهِمْthen will come to themأَنۢبَـٰٓؤُا۟the newsمَا(of) whatكَانُوا۟they usedبِهِۦat itيَسْتَهْزِءُونَ(to) mock٦

For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule.

٢٦:٧

أَوَلَمْDo notيَرَوْا۟they seeإِلَىatٱلْأَرْضِthe earth كَمْhow manyأَنۢبَتْنَاWe producedفِيهَاin itمِنofكُلِّeveryزَوْجٍۢkindكَرِيمٍnoble٧

Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?

٢٦:٨

إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely (is) a signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers٨

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

٢٦:٩

وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely, Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful٩

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

٢٦:١٠

وَإِذْAnd whenنَادَىٰyour Lord calledرَبُّكَyour Lord calledمُوسَىٰٓMusaأَنِ[that]ٱئْتِGoٱلْقَوْمَ(to) the peopleٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ(who are) wrongdoers١٠

And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -

٢٦:١١

قَوْمَ(The) peopleفِرْعَوْنَ ۚ(of) FiraunأَلَاWill notيَتَّقُونَthey fear١١

The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allāh?"

٢٦:١٢

قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy LordإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَخَافُ[I] fearأَنthatيُكَذِّبُونِthey will deny me١٢

He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me

٢٦:١٣

وَيَضِيقُAnd straitensصَدْرِىmy breastوَلَاand notيَنطَلِقُexpresses wellلِسَانِىmy tongueفَأَرْسِلْso sendإِلَىٰforهَـٰرُونَHarun١٣

And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.

٢٦:١٤

وَلَهُمْAnd they haveعَلَىَّagainst meذَنۢبٌۭa crimeفَأَخَافُso I fearأَنthatيَقْتُلُونِthey will kill me١٤

And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."

٢٦:١٥

قَالَHe saidكَلَّا ۖNayفَٱذْهَبَاgo both of youبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۖwith Our SignsإِنَّاIndeed, Weمَعَكُم(are) with youمُّسْتَمِعُونَlistening١٥

[Allāh] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.

٢٦:١٦

فَأْتِيَاSo go both of youفِرْعَوْنَ(to) Firaunفَقُولَآand sayإِنَّا'Indeed, weرَسُولُ(are the) Messengerرَبِّ(of the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds١٦

Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds,

٢٦:١٧

أَنْ[That]أَرْسِلْsendمَعَنَاwith usبَنِىٓ(the) Children of Israel.'إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(the) Children of Israel.'١٧

[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"

٢٦:١٨

قَالَHe saidأَلَمْDid notنُرَبِّكَwe bring you upفِينَاamong usوَلِيدًۭا(as) a childوَلَبِثْتَand you remainedفِينَاamong usمِنْofعُمُرِكَyour lifeسِنِينَyears١٨

[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?

٢٦:١٩

وَفَعَلْتَAnd you didفَعْلَتَكَyour deedٱلَّتِىwhichفَعَلْتَyou didوَأَنتَand youمِنَ(were) ofٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَthe ungrateful١٩

And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful."

٢٦:٢٠

قَالَHe saidفَعَلْتُهَآI did itإِذًۭاwhenوَأَنَا۠Iمِنَ(was) ofٱلضَّآلِّينَthose who are astray٢٠

[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray [i.e., ignorant].

٢٦:٢١

فَفَرَرْتُSo I fledمِنكُمْfrom youلَمَّاwhenخِفْتُكُمْI feared youفَوَهَبَBut grantedلِىto meرَبِّىmy Lordحُكْمًۭاjudgmentوَجَعَلَنِىand made meمِنَofٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers٢١

So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me judgement [i.e., wisdom and prophet hood] and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.

٢٦:٢٢

وَتِلْكَAnd thisنِعْمَةٌۭ(is the) favorتَمُنُّهَاwith which you reproachعَلَىَّ[on] meأَنْthatعَبَّدتَّyou have enslavedبَنِىٓ(the) Children of Israelإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(the) Children of Israel٢٢

And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"

٢٦:٢٣

قَالَFiraun saidفِرْعَوْنُFiraun saidوَمَاAnd whatرَبُّ(is the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds٢٣

Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"

٢٦:٢٤

قَالَHe saidرَبُّLordٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthوَمَاand whateverبَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ(is) between themإِنifكُنتُمyou (should) beمُّوقِنِينَconvinced٢٤

[Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced."

٢٦:٢٥

قَالَHe saidلِمَنْto thoseحَوْلَهُۥٓaround himأَلَاDo notتَسْتَمِعُونَyou hear٢٥

[Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?"

٢٦:٢٦

قَالَHe saidرَبُّكُمْYour Lordوَرَبُّand (the) Lordءَابَآئِكُمُ(of) your forefathersٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) your forefathers٢٦

[Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers."

٢٦:٢٧

قَالَHe saidإِنَّIndeedرَسُولَكُمُyour Messengerٱلَّذِىٓwhoأُرْسِلَhas been sentإِلَيْكُمْto youلَمَجْنُونٌۭ(is) surely mad٢٧

[Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad."

٢٦:٢٨

قَالَHe saidرَبُّLordٱلْمَشْرِقِ(of) the eastوَٱلْمَغْرِبِand the westوَمَاand whateverبَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ(is) between themإِنifكُنتُمْyou wereتَعْقِلُونَ(to) reason٢٨

[Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason."

٢٦:٢٩

قَالَHe saidلَئِنِIfٱتَّخَذْتَyou takeإِلَـٰهًاa godغَيْرِىother than meلَأَجْعَلَنَّكَI will surely make youمِنَamongٱلْمَسْجُونِينَthose imprisoned٢٩

[Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned."

٢٦:٣٠

قَالَHe saidأَوَلَوْEven ifجِئْتُكَI bring youبِشَىْءٍۢsomethingمُّبِينٍۢmanifest٣٠

[Moses] said, "Even if I brought you something [i.e., proof] manifest?"

٢٦:٣١

قَالَHe saidفَأْتِThen bringبِهِۦٓitإِنifكُنتَyou areمِنَofٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَthe truthful٣١

[Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful."

٢٦:٣٢

فَأَلْقَىٰSo he threwعَصَاهُhis staffفَإِذَاand beholdهِىَItثُعْبَانٌۭ(was) a serpentمُّبِينٌۭmanifest٣٢

So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.

٢٦:٣٣

وَنَزَعَAnd he drew outيَدَهُۥhis handفَإِذَاand beholdهِىَItبَيْضَآءُ(was) whiteلِلنَّـٰظِرِينَfor the observers٣٣

And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.

٢٦:٣٤

قَالَHe saidلِلْمَلَإِto the chiefsحَوْلَهُۥٓaround himإِنَّIndeedهَـٰذَاthisلَسَـٰحِرٌ(is) surely a magicianعَلِيمٌۭlearned٣٤

[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician.

٢٦:٣٥

يُرِيدُHe wantsأَنtoيُخْرِجَكُمdrive you outمِّنْfromأَرْضِكُمyour landبِسِحْرِهِۦby his magicفَمَاذَاso whatتَأْمُرُونَ(do) you advise٣٥

He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?"

٢٦:٣٦

قَالُوٓا۟They saidأَرْجِهْPostpone himوَأَخَاهُand his brotherوَٱبْعَثْand sendفِىinٱلْمَدَآئِنِthe citiesحَـٰشِرِينَgatherers ٣٦

They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers

٢٦:٣٧

يَأْتُوكَThey (will) bring to youبِكُلِّeveryسَحَّارٍmagicianعَلِيمٍۢlearned٣٧

Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician."

٢٦:٣٨

فَجُمِعَSo were assembledٱلسَّحَرَةُthe magiciansلِمِيقَـٰتِfor (the) appointmentيَوْمٍۢ(on) a dayمَّعْلُومٍۢwell-known٣٨

So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day.

٢٦:٣٩

وَقِيلَAnd it was saidلِلنَّاسِto the peopleهَلْWillأَنتُمyouمُّجْتَمِعُونَassemble٣٩

And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate.

٢٦:٤٠

لَعَلَّنَاThat we mayنَتَّبِعُfollowٱلسَّحَرَةَthe magiciansإِنifكَانُوا۟they areهُمُthey areٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَthe victorious٤٠

That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?"

٢٦:٤١

فَلَمَّاSo whenجَآءَcameٱلسَّحَرَةُthe magiciansقَالُوا۟they saidلِفِرْعَوْنَto FiraunأَئِنَّIs thereلَنَاfor usلَأَجْرًاa rewardإِنifكُنَّاwe areنَحْنُwe areٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَthe victorious٤١

And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?"

٢٦:٤٢

قَالَHe saidنَعَمْYesوَإِنَّكُمْand indeed youإِذًۭاthenلَّمِنَsurely (will be) ofٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَthe ones who are brought near٤٢

He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]."

٢٦:٤٣

قَالَSaidلَهُمto themمُّوسَىٰٓMusaأَلْقُوا۟Throwمَآwhatأَنتُمyouمُّلْقُونَ(are) going to throw٤٣

Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw."

٢٦:٤٤

فَأَلْقَوْا۟So they threwحِبَالَهُمْtheir ropesوَعِصِيَّهُمْand their staffsوَقَالُوا۟and saidبِعِزَّةِBy the mightفِرْعَوْنَ(of) Firaunإِنَّاindeed, weلَنَحْنُsurely, weٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ(are) the victorious٤٤

So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant."

٢٦:٤٥

فَأَلْقَىٰThen threwمُوسَىٰMusaعَصَاهُhis staffفَإِذَاand beholdهِىَItتَلْقَفُswallowedمَاwhatيَأْفِكُونَthey falsified٤٥

Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.

٢٦:٤٦

فَأُلْقِىَThen fell downٱلسَّحَرَةُthe magiciansسَـٰجِدِينَprostrate٤٦

So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allāh].

٢٦:٤٧

قَالُوٓا۟They saidءَامَنَّاWe believeبِرَبِّin (the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds٤٧

They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,

٢٦:٤٨

رَبِّLordمُوسَىٰ(of) Musaوَهَـٰرُونَand Harun٤٨

The Lord of Moses and Aaron."

٢٦:٤٩

قَالَHe saidءَامَنتُمْYou believedلَهُۥin himقَبْلَbeforeأَنْ[that]ءَاذَنَI gave permissionلَكُمْ ۖto youإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heلَكَبِيرُكُمُ(is) surely your chiefٱلَّذِىwhoعَلَّمَكُمُhas taught youٱلسِّحْرَthe magicفَلَسَوْفَso surely soonتَعْلَمُونَ ۚyou will knowلَأُقَطِّعَنَّI will surely cut offأَيْدِيَكُمْyour handsوَأَرْجُلَكُمand your feetمِّنْofخِلَـٰفٍۢopposite sidesوَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْand I will surely crucify youأَجْمَعِينَall٤٩

[Pharaoh] said, "You believed him [i.e., Moses] before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."

٢٦:٥٠

قَالُوا۟They saidلَاNoضَيْرَ ۖharmإِنَّآIndeed, weإِلَىٰtoرَبِّنَاour Lordمُنقَلِبُونَ(will) return٥٠

They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.

٢٦:٥١

إِنَّاIndeed, weنَطْمَعُhopeأَنthatيَغْفِرَwill forgiveلَنَاusرَبُّنَاour Lordخَطَـٰيَـٰنَآour sinsأَنbecauseكُنَّآwe areأَوَّلَ(the) firstٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ(of) the believers٥١

Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers."

٢٦:٥٢

۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَآAnd We inspiredإِلَىٰtoمُوسَىٰٓMusaأَنْ[that]أَسْرِTravel by nightبِعِبَادِىٓwith My slavesإِنَّكُمindeed, youمُّتَّبَعُونَ(will be) followed٥٢

And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued."

٢٦:٥٣

فَأَرْسَلَThen sentفِرْعَوْنُFiraunفِىinٱلْمَدَآئِنِthe citiesحَـٰشِرِينَgatherers٥٣

Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers

٢٦:٥٤

إِنَّIndeedهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِtheseلَشِرْذِمَةٌۭ(are) certainly a bandقَلِيلُونَsmall٥٤

[And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band,

٢٦:٥٥

وَإِنَّهُمْAnd indeed, theyلَنَا[to] usلَغَآئِظُونَ(are) surely enraging٥٥

And indeed, they are enraging us,

٢٦:٥٦

وَإِنَّاAnd indeed, weلَجَمِيعٌ(are) surely a multitudeحَـٰذِرُونَforewarned٥٦

And indeed, we are a cautious society..."

٢٦:٥٧

فَأَخْرَجْنَـٰهُمSo We expelled themمِّنfromجَنَّـٰتٍۢgardensوَعُيُونٍۢand springs٥٧

So We removed them from gardens and springs

٢٦:٥٨

وَكُنُوزٍۢAnd treasuresوَمَقَامٍۢand a placeكَرِيمٍۢhonorable٥٨

And treasures and honorable station -

٢٦:٥٩

كَذَٰلِكَThusوَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَاAnd We caused to inherit themبَنِىٓ(the) Children of Israelإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(the) Children of Israel٥٩

Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.

٢٦:٦٠

فَأَتْبَعُوهُمSo they followed themمُّشْرِقِينَ(at) sunrise٦٠

So they pursued them at sunrise.

٢٦:٦١

فَلَمَّاThen whenتَرَٰٓءَاsaw each otherٱلْجَمْعَانِthe two hostsقَالَsaidأَصْحَـٰبُ(the) companionsمُوسَىٰٓ(of) MusaإِنَّاIndeed, weلَمُدْرَكُونَ(are) surely to be overtaken٦١

And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"

٢٦:٦٢

قَالَHe saidكَلَّآ ۖNayإِنَّindeedمَعِىَwith meرَبِّى(is) my LordسَيَهْدِينِHe will guide me٦٢

[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."

٢٦:٦٣

فَأَوْحَيْنَآThen We inspiredإِلَىٰtoمُوسَىٰٓMusaأَنِ[that]ٱضْرِبStrikeبِّعَصَاكَwith your staffٱلْبَحْرَ ۖthe seaفَٱنفَلَقَSo it partedفَكَانَand becameكُلُّeachفِرْقٍۢpartكَٱلطَّوْدِlike the mountainٱلْعَظِيمِ[the] great٦٣

Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.

٢٦:٦٤

وَأَزْلَفْنَاAnd We brought nearثَمَّthereٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَthe others٦٤

And We advanced thereto the others [i.e., the pursuers].

٢٦:٦٥

وَأَنجَيْنَاAnd We savedمُوسَىٰMusaوَمَنand whoمَّعَهُۥٓ(were) with himأَجْمَعِينَall٦٥

And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.

٢٦:٦٦

ثُمَّThenأَغْرَقْنَاWe drownedٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَthe others٦٦

Then We drowned the others.

٢٦:٦٧

إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely (is) a Signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers٦٧

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

٢٦:٦٨

وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful٦٨

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

٢٦:٦٩

وَٱتْلُAnd reciteعَلَيْهِمْto themنَبَأَ(the) newsإِبْرَٰهِيمَ(of) Ibrahim٦٩

And recite to them the news of Abraham,

٢٦:٧٠

إِذْWhenقَالَhe saidلِأَبِيهِto his fatherوَقَوْمِهِۦand his peopleمَاWhatتَعْبُدُونَ(do) you worship٧٠

When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"

٢٦:٧١

قَالُوا۟They saidنَعْبُدُWe worshipأَصْنَامًۭاidolsفَنَظَلُّso we will remainلَهَاto themعَـٰكِفِينَdevoted٧١

They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."

٢٦:٧٢

قَالَHe saidهَلْDoيَسْمَعُونَكُمْthey hear youإِذْwhenتَدْعُونَyou call٧٢

He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate?

٢٦:٧٣

أَوْOrيَنفَعُونَكُمْ(do) they benefit youأَوْorيَضُرُّونَthey harm (you)٧٣

Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?"

٢٦:٧٤

قَالُوا۟They saidبَلْNayوَجَدْنَآbut we foundءَابَآءَنَاour forefathersكَذَٰلِكَlike that يَفْعَلُونَdoing٧٤

They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus."

٢٦:٧٥

قَالَHe saidأَفَرَءَيْتُمDo you seeمَّاwhatكُنتُمْyou have beenتَعْبُدُونَworshipping٧٥

He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping,

٢٦:٧٦

أَنتُمْYouوَءَابَآؤُكُمُand your forefathersٱلْأَقْدَمُونَand your forefathers٧٦

You and your ancient forefathers?

٢٦:٧٧

فَإِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyعَدُوٌّۭ(are) enemiesلِّىٓto meإِلَّاexceptرَبَّ(the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds٧٧

Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,

٢٦:٧٨

ٱلَّذِىThe One Whoخَلَقَنِىcreated meفَهُوَand Heيَهْدِينِguides me٧٨

Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me.

٢٦:٧٩

وَٱلَّذِىAnd the One Whoهُوَ[He]يُطْعِمُنِىgives me foodوَيَسْقِينِand gives me drink٧٩

And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.

٢٦:٨٠

وَإِذَاAnd whenمَرِضْتُI am illفَهُوَthen Heيَشْفِينِcures me٨٠

And when I am ill, it is He who cures me

٢٦:٨١

وَٱلَّذِىAnd the One Whoيُمِيتُنِىwill cause me to dieثُمَّthenيُحْيِينِhe will give me life٨١

And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life

٢٦:٨٢

وَٱلَّذِىٓAnd the One Who أَطْمَعُI hopeأَنthatيَغْفِرَHe will forgiveلِىfor meخَطِيٓـَٔتِىmy faultsيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلدِّينِ(of) the Judgment٨٢

And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."

٢٦:٨٣

رَبِّMy LordهَبْGrantلِى[for] meحُكْمًۭاwisdomوَأَلْحِقْنِىand join meبِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَwith the righteous٨٣

[And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.

٢٦:٨٤

وَٱجْعَلAnd grantلِّى[for] meلِسَانَa mentionصِدْقٍۢ(of) honorفِىamongٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَthe later (generations)٨٤

And grant me a mention [i.e., reputation] of honor among later generations.

٢٦:٨٥

وَٱجْعَلْنِىAnd make meمِنofوَرَثَةِ(the) inheritorsجَنَّةِ(of) Garden(s)ٱلنَّعِيمِ(of) Delight٨٥

And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.

٢٦:٨٦

وَٱغْفِرْAnd forgiveلِأَبِىٓmy fatherإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heكَانَisمِنَofٱلضَّآلِّينَthose astray٨٦

And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.

٢٦:٨٧

وَلَاAnd (do) notتُخْزِنِىdisgrace meيَوْمَ(on the) Dayيُبْعَثُونَthey are resurrected٨٧

And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected -

٢٦:٨٨

يَوْمَ(The) Dayلَاnotيَنفَعُwill benefitمَالٌۭwealthوَلَاand notبَنُونَsons٨٨

The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children

٢٦:٨٩

إِلَّاExceptمَنْ(he) whoأَتَىcomesٱللَّهَ(to) Allahبِقَلْبٍۢwith a heartسَلِيمٍۢsound٨٩

But only one who comes to Allāh with a sound heart."

٢٦:٩٠

وَأُزْلِفَتِAnd (will be) brought nearٱلْجَنَّةُthe Paradiseلِلْمُتَّقِينَfor the righteous٩٠

And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous.

٢٦:٩١

وَبُرِّزَتِAnd (will be) made manifestٱلْجَحِيمُthe Hellfireلِلْغَاوِينَto the deviators٩١

And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators,

٢٦:٩٢

وَقِيلَAnd it will be saidلَهُمْto themأَيْنَWhereمَا(is) thatكُنتُمْyou usedتَعْبُدُونَ(to) worship٩٢

And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship

٢٦:٩٣

مِنBesides AllahدُونِBesides AllahٱللَّهِBesides AllahهَلْCanيَنصُرُونَكُمْthey help youأَوْorيَنتَصِرُونَhelp themselves٩٣

Other than Allāh? Can they help you or help themselves?"

٢٦:٩٤

فَكُبْكِبُوا۟Then they will be overturnedفِيهَاinto itهُمْtheyوَٱلْغَاوُۥنَand the deviators٩٤

So they will be overturned into it [i.e., Hellfire], they and the deviators

٢٦:٩٥

وَجُنُودُAnd (the) hostsإِبْلِيسَ(of) Iblisأَجْمَعُونَall together٩٥

And the soldiers of Iblees, all together.

٢٦:٩٦

قَالُوا۟They (will) sayوَهُمْwhile theyفِيهَاin itيَخْتَصِمُونَ(are) disputing٩٦

They will say while they dispute therein,

٢٦:٩٧

تَٱللَّهِBy Allahإِنindeedكُنَّاwe wereلَفِىsurely inضَلَـٰلٍۢerrorمُّبِينٍclear٩٧

"By Allāh, we were indeed in manifest error

٢٦:٩٨

إِذْWhenنُسَوِّيكُمwe equated youبِرَبِّwith (the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds٩٨

When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds.

٢٦:٩٩

وَمَآAnd notأَضَلَّنَآmisguided usإِلَّاexceptٱلْمُجْرِمُونَthe criminals٩٩

And no one misguided us except the criminals.

٢٦:١٠٠

فَمَاSo (now) notلَنَاwe haveمِنanyشَـٰفِعِينَintercessors١٠٠

So now we have no intercessors

٢٦:١٠١

وَلَاAnd notصَدِيقٍa friendحَمِيمٍۢclose١٠١

And not a devoted friend.

٢٦:١٠٢

فَلَوْThen ifأَنَّthatلَنَاwe hadكَرَّةًۭa returnفَنَكُونَthen we could beمِنَofٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believers١٠٢

Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers..."1

٢٦:١٠٣

إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely is a Signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers١٠٣

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

٢٦:١٠٤

وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful١٠٤

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

٢٦:١٠٥

كَذَّبَتْDeniedقَوْمُ(the) peopleنُوحٍ(of) Nuhٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers١٠٥

The people of Noah denied the messengers

٢٦:١٠٦

إِذْWhenقَالَsaidلَهُمْto themأَخُوهُمْtheir brotherنُوحٌNuhأَلَاWill notتَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)١٠٦

When their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?

٢٦:١٠٧

إِنِّىIndeed, I amلَكُمْto youرَسُولٌa Messengerأَمِينٌۭtrustworthy١٠٧

Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

٢٦:١٠٨

فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearٱللَّهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me١٠٨

So fear Allāh and obey me.

٢٦:١٠٩

وَمَآAnd notأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask (of) youعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْanyأَجْرٍ ۖpaymentإِنْNotأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentإِلَّاbutعَلَىٰfromرَبِّ(the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds١٠٩

And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

٢٦:١١٠

فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearٱللَّهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me١١٠

So fear Allāh and obey me."

٢٦:١١١

۞ قَالُوٓا۟They saidأَنُؤْمِنُShould we believeلَكَin youوَٱتَّبَعَكَwhile followed youٱلْأَرْذَلُونَthe lowest١١١

They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]?"

٢٦:١١٢

قَالَHe saidوَمَاAnd whatعِلْمِى(do) I knowبِمَاof whatكَانُوا۟they usedيَعْمَلُونَ(to) do١١٢

He said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do?

٢٦:١١٣

إِنْVerilyحِسَابُهُمْtheir accountإِلَّا(is) butعَلَىٰuponرَبِّى ۖmy Lordلَوْifتَشْعُرُونَyou perceive١١٣

Their account is only upon my Lord, if you [could] perceive.

٢٦:١١٤

وَمَآAnd notأَنَا۠I amبِطَارِدِthe one to drive awayٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believers١١٤

And I am not one to drive away the believers.

٢٦:١١٥

إِنْNotأَنَا۠I amإِلَّاbutنَذِيرٌۭa warnerمُّبِينٌۭclear١١٥

I am only a clear warner."

٢٦:١١٦

قَالُوا۟They saidلَئِنIfلَّمْnotتَنتَهِyou desistيَـٰنُوحُO NuhلَتَكُونَنَّSurely you will beمِنَofٱلْمَرْجُومِينَthose who are stoned١١٦

They said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned."

٢٦:١١٧

قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy LordإِنَّIndeedقَوْمِىmy peopleكَذَّبُونِhave denied me١١٧

He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me.

٢٦:١١٨

فَٱفْتَحْSo judgeبَيْنِىbetween meوَبَيْنَهُمْand between themفَتْحًۭا(with decisive) judgmentوَنَجِّنِىand save meوَمَنand whoمَّعِىَ(are) with meمِنَofٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believers١١٨

Then judge between me and them with decisive judgement and save me and those with me of the believers."

٢٦:١١٩

فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُSo We saved himوَمَنand whoمَّعَهُۥ(were) with himفِىinٱلْفُلْكِthe shipٱلْمَشْحُونِladen١١٩

So We saved him and those with him in the laden ship.

٢٦:١٢٠

ثُمَّThenأَغْرَقْنَاWe drownedبَعْدُthereafterٱلْبَاقِينَthe remaining ones١٢٠

Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones.

٢٦:١٢١

إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely, (is) a signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers١٢١

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

٢٦:١٢٢

وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely, Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful١٢٢

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

٢٦:١٢٣

كَذَّبَتْDeniedعَادٌ(the people) of Aadٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers١٢٣

ʿAad denied the messengers

٢٦:١٢٤

إِذْWhenقَالَsaidلَهُمْto themأَخُوهُمْtheir brotherهُودٌHudأَلَاWill notتَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)١٢٤

When their brother Hūd said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?

٢٦:١٢٥

إِنِّىIndeed, I amلَكُمْto youرَسُولٌa Messengerأَمِينٌۭtrustworthy١٢٥

Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

٢٦:١٢٦

فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearٱللَّهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me١٢٦

So fear Allāh and obey me.

٢٦:١٢٧

وَمَآAnd notأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask youعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْanyأَجْرٍ ۖpaymentإِنْNotأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentإِلَّاexceptعَلَىٰfromرَبِّ(the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds١٢٧

And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

٢٦:١٢٨

أَتَبْنُونَDo you constructبِكُلِّon everyرِيعٍelevationءَايَةًۭa signتَعْبَثُونَamusing yourselves١٢٨

Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves,

٢٦:١٢٩

وَتَتَّخِذُونَAnd take for yourselvesمَصَانِعَstrongholdsلَعَلَّكُمْthat you mayتَخْلُدُونَlive forever١٢٩

And take for yourselves constructions [i.e., palaces and fortresses] that you might abide eternally?

٢٦:١٣٠

وَإِذَاAnd whenبَطَشْتُمyou seizeبَطَشْتُمْyou seizeجَبَّارِينَ(as) tyrants١٣٠

And when you strike, you strike as tyrants.

٢٦:١٣١

فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearٱللَّهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me١٣١

So fear Allāh and obey me.

٢٦:١٣٢

وَٱتَّقُوا۟And fearٱلَّذِىٓthe One Whoأَمَدَّكُمhas aided youبِمَاwith whatتَعْلَمُونَyou know١٣٢

And fear He who provided you with that which you know,

٢٦:١٣٣

أَمَدَّكُمHe has aided youبِأَنْعَـٰمٍۢwith cattleوَبَنِينَand children١٣٣

Provided you with grazing livestock and children

٢٦:١٣٤

وَجَنَّـٰتٍۢAnd gardensوَعُيُونٍand springs١٣٤

And gardens and springs.

٢٦:١٣٥

إِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَخَافُ[I] fearعَلَيْكُمْfor youعَذَابَ(the) punishmentيَوْمٍ(of) a DayعَظِيمٍۢGreat١٣٥

Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."

٢٦:١٣٦

قَالُوا۟They saidسَوَآءٌ(It is) sameعَلَيْنَآto usأَوَعَظْتَwhether you adviseأَمْorلَمْnotتَكُنyou areمِّنَofٱلْوَٰعِظِينَthe advisors١٣٦

They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.

٢٦:١٣٧

إِنْNotهَـٰذَآ(is) thisإِلَّاbutخُلُقُ(the) customٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) the former (people)١٣٧

This is not but the custom of the former peoples,

٢٦:١٣٨

وَمَاAnd notنَحْنُweبِمُعَذَّبِينَ(are) the ones to be punished١٣٨

And we are not to be punished."

٢٦:١٣٩

فَكَذَّبُوهُSo they denied himفَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۗthen We destroyed themإِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely, is a signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers١٣٩

And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

٢٦:١٤٠

وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely, Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful١٤٠

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

٢٦:١٤١

كَذَّبَتْDeniedثَمُودُThamudٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers١٤١

Thamūd denied the messengers

٢٦:١٤٢

إِذْWhenقَالَsaidلَهُمْto themأَخُوهُمْtheir brotherصَـٰلِحٌSalihأَلَاWill notتَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)١٤٢

When their brother Ṣāliḥ said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?

٢٦:١٤٣

إِنِّىIndeed, I amلَكُمْto youرَسُولٌa Messengerأَمِينٌۭtrustworthy١٤٣

Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

٢٦:١٤٤

فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearٱللَّهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me١٤٤

So fear Allāh and obey me.

٢٦:١٤٥

وَمَآAnd notأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask youعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْanyأَجْرٍ ۖpaymentإِنْNotأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentإِلَّاexceptعَلَىٰfromرَبِّ(the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds١٤٥

And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

٢٦:١٤٦

أَتُتْرَكُونَWill you be leftفِىinمَاwhatهَـٰهُنَآ(is) hereءَامِنِينَsecure١٤٦

Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death],

٢٦:١٤٧

فِىInجَنَّـٰتٍۢgardensوَعُيُونٍۢand springs١٤٧

Within gardens and springs

٢٦:١٤٨

وَزُرُوعٍۢAnd cornfieldsوَنَخْلٍۢand date-palmsطَلْعُهَاits spadixهَضِيمٌۭsoft١٤٨

And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit?

٢٦:١٤٩

وَتَنْحِتُونَAnd you carveمِنَofٱلْجِبَالِthe mountainsبُيُوتًۭاhousesفَـٰرِهِينَskillfully١٤٩

And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill.

٢٦:١٥٠

فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearٱللَّهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me١٥٠

So fear Allāh and obey me.

٢٦:١٥١

وَلَاAnd (do) notتُطِيعُوٓا۟obeyأَمْرَ(the) commandٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ(of) the transgressors١٥١

And do not obey the order of the transgressors,

٢٦:١٥٢

ٱلَّذِينَThose whoيُفْسِدُونَspread corruptionفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthوَلَاand (do) notيُصْلِحُونَreform١٥٢

Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend."

٢٦:١٥٣

قَالُوٓا۟They saidإِنَّمَآOnlyأَنتَyouمِنَ(are) ofٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَthose bewitched١٥٣

They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.

٢٦:١٥٤

مَآNotأَنتَyouإِلَّا(are) exceptبَشَرٌۭa manمِّثْلُنَاlike usفَأْتِso bringبِـَٔايَةٍa signإِنifكُنتَyouمِنَ(are) ofٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَthe truthful١٥٤

You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful."

٢٦:١٥٥

قَالَHe saidهَـٰذِهِۦThisنَاقَةٌۭ(is) a she-camelلَّهَاFor herشِرْبٌۭ(is a share of) drinkوَلَكُمْand for youشِرْبُ(is a share of) drinkيَوْمٍۢ(on) a dayمَّعْلُومٍۢknown١٥٥

He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day.

٢٦:١٥٦

وَلَاAnd (do) notتَمَسُّوهَاtouch herبِسُوٓءٍۢwith harmفَيَأْخُذَكُمْlest seize youعَذَابُ(the) punishmentيَوْمٍ(of) a DayعَظِيمٍۢGreat١٥٦

And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day."

٢٦:١٥٧

فَعَقَرُوهَاBut they hamstrung herفَأَصْبَحُوا۟then they becameنَـٰدِمِينَregretful١٥٧

But they hamstrung her and so became regretful.

٢٦:١٥٨

فَأَخَذَهُمُSo seized themٱلْعَذَابُ ۗthe punishmentإِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely is a signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers١٥٨

And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

٢٦:١٥٩

وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful١٥٩

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

٢٦:١٦٠

كَذَّبَتْDeniedقَوْمُ(the) peopleلُوطٍ(of) Lutٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers١٦٠

The people of Lot denied the messengers

٢٦:١٦١

إِذْWhenقَالَsaidلَهُمْto themأَخُوهُمْtheir brotherلُوطٌLutأَلَاWill notتَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)١٦١

When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?

٢٦:١٦٢

إِنِّىIndeed, I amلَكُمْto youرَسُولٌa Messengerأَمِينٌۭtrustworthy١٦٢

Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

٢٦:١٦٣

فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearٱللَّهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me١٦٣

So fear Allāh and obey me.

٢٦:١٦٤

وَمَآAnd notأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask youعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْanyأَجْرٍ ۖpaymentإِنْNotأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentإِلَّاexceptعَلَىٰfromرَبِّ(the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds١٦٤

And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

٢٦:١٦٥

أَتَأْتُونَDo you approachٱلذُّكْرَانَthe malesمِنَamongٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَthe worlds١٦٥

Do you approach males among the worlds

٢٦:١٦٦

وَتَذَرُونَAnd you leaveمَاwhatخَلَقَcreatedلَكُمْfor youرَبُّكُمyour Lordمِّنْofأَزْوَٰجِكُم ۚyour matesبَلْNayأَنتُمْyouقَوْمٌ(are) a peopleعَادُونَtransgressing١٦٦

And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing."

٢٦:١٦٧

قَالُوا۟They saidلَئِنIfلَّمْnotتَنتَهِyou desistيَـٰلُوطُO LutلَتَكُونَنَّSurely, you will beمِنَofٱلْمُخْرَجِينَthe ones driven out١٦٧

They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted."

٢٦:١٦٨

قَالَHe saidإِنِّىIndeed, I amلِعَمَلِكُم(of) your deedمِّنَofٱلْقَالِينَthose who detest١٦٨

He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it].

٢٦:١٦٩

رَبِّMy LordنَجِّنِىSave meوَأَهْلِىand my familyمِمَّاfrom whatيَعْمَلُونَthey do١٦٩

My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do."

٢٦:١٧٠

فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُSo We saved himوَأَهْلَهُۥٓand his familyأَجْمَعِينَall١٧٠

So We saved him and his family, all,

٢٦:١٧١

إِلَّاExceptعَجُوزًۭاan old womanفِى(was) amongٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَthose who remained behind١٧١

Except an old woman among those who remained behind.

٢٦:١٧٢

ثُمَّThenدَمَّرْنَاWe destroyedٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَthe others١٧٢

Then We destroyed the others.

٢٦:١٧٣

وَأَمْطَرْنَاAnd We rainedعَلَيْهِمupon themمَّطَرًۭا ۖa rainفَسَآءَand evil wasمَطَرُ(was) the rainٱلْمُنذَرِينَ(on) those who were warned١٧٣

And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.

٢٦:١٧٤

إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely is a signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers١٧٤

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

٢٦:١٧٥

وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely, Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful١٧٥

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

٢٦:١٧٦

كَذَّبَDeniedأَصْحَـٰبُ(the) companionsلْـَٔيْكَةِ(of the) Woodٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers١٧٦

The companions of the thicket [i.e., the people of Madyan] denied the messengers

٢٦:١٧٧

إِذْWhenقَالَsaidلَهُمْto themشُعَيْبٌShuaibأَلَاWill notتَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)١٧٧

When Shuʿayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?

٢٦:١٧٨

إِنِّىIndeed, I amلَكُمْto youرَسُولٌa Messengerأَمِينٌۭtrustworthy١٧٨

Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.

٢٦:١٧٩

فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearٱللَّهَAllahوَأَطِيعُونِand obey me١٧٩

So fear Allāh and obey me.

٢٦:١٨٠

وَمَآAnd notأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask (of) youعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْanyأَجْرٍ ۖpaymentإِنْNotأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentإِلَّاexceptعَلَىٰfromرَبِّ(the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds١٨٠

And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.

٢٦:١٨١

۞ أَوْفُوا۟Give fullٱلْكَيْلَmeasureوَلَاand (do) notتَكُونُوا۟beمِنَofٱلْمُخْسِرِينَthose who cause loss١٨١

Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss.

٢٦:١٨٢

وَزِنُوا۟And weighبِٱلْقِسْطَاسِwith a balanceٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ[the] even١٨٢

And weigh with an even [i.e., honest] balance.

٢٦:١٨٣

وَلَاAnd (do) notتَبْخَسُوا۟depriveٱلنَّاسَpeopleأَشْيَآءَهُمْ(of) their thingsوَلَاand (do) notتَعْثَوْا۟commit evilفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthمُفْسِدِينَspreading corruption١٨٣

And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption.

٢٦:١٨٤

وَٱتَّقُوا۟And fearٱلَّذِىthe One Whoخَلَقَكُمْcreated youوَٱلْجِبِلَّةَand the generationsٱلْأَوَّلِينَthe former١٨٤

And fear He who created you and the former creation."1

٢٦:١٨٥

قَالُوٓا۟They saidإِنَّمَآOnlyأَنتَyouمِنَ(are) ofٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَthose bewitched١٨٥

They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.

٢٦:١٨٦

وَمَآAnd notأَنتَyouإِلَّا(are) exceptبَشَرٌۭa manمِّثْلُنَاlike usوَإِنand indeedنَّظُنُّكَwe think youلَمِنَsurely (are) ofٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَthe liars١٨٦

You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars.

٢٦:١٨٧

فَأَسْقِطْThen cause to fallعَلَيْنَاupon usكِسَفًۭاfragmentsمِّنَofٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyإِنifكُنتَyou areمِنَofٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَthe truthful١٨٧

So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful."

٢٦:١٨٨

قَالَHe saidرَبِّىٓMy Lordأَعْلَمُknows bestبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou do١٨٨

He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do."

٢٦:١٨٩

فَكَذَّبُوهُBut they denied himفَأَخَذَهُمْso seized themعَذَابُ(the) punishmentيَوْمِ(of the) dayٱلظُّلَّةِ ۚ(of) the shadowإِنَّهُۥIndeed, itكَانَwasعَذَابَ(the) punishmentيَوْمٍ(of) a DayعَظِيمٍGreat١٨٩

And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day.

٢٦:١٩٠

إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely, is a signوَمَاbut notكَانَareأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers١٩٠

Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

٢٦:١٩١

وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَهُوَsurely, Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful١٩١

And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

٢٦:١٩٢

وَإِنَّهُۥAnd indeed, itلَتَنزِيلُsurely, is a Revelationرَبِّ(of the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds١٩٢

And indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds.

٢٦:١٩٣

نَزَلَHas brought it downبِهِHas brought it downٱلرُّوحُthe Spiritٱلْأَمِينُ[the] Trustworthy١٩٣

The Trustworthy Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] has brought it down

٢٦:١٩٤

عَلَىٰUponقَلْبِكَyour heartلِتَكُونَthat you may beمِنَofٱلْمُنذِرِينَthe warners١٩٤

Upon your heart, [O Muḥammad] - that you may be of the warners -

٢٦:١٩٥

بِلِسَانٍIn languageعَرَبِىٍّۢArabicمُّبِينٍۢclear١٩٥

In a clear Arabic language.

٢٦:١٩٦

وَإِنَّهُۥAnd indeed, itلَفِىsurely, (is) inزُبُرِ(the) Scripturesٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) the former (people)١٩٦

And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples.

٢٦:١٩٧

أَوَلَمْIs it notيَكُنIs it notلَّهُمْto themءَايَةًa signأَنthatيَعْلَمَهُۥknow itعُلَمَـٰٓؤُا۟(the) scholarsبَنِىٓ(of the) Childrenإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(of) Israel١٩٧

And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?

٢٦:١٩٨

وَلَوْAnd ifنَزَّلْنَـٰهُWe (had) revealed itعَلَىٰtoبَعْضِanyٱلْأَعْجَمِينَ(of) the non-Arabs١٩٨

And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners

٢٦:١٩٩

فَقَرَأَهُۥAnd he (had) recited itعَلَيْهِمto themمَّاnotكَانُوا۟they wouldبِهِۦin itمُؤْمِنِينَ(be) believers١٩٩

And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it.

٢٦:٢٠٠

كَذَٰلِكَThusسَلَكْنَـٰهُWe have inserted itفِىintoقُلُوبِ(the) heartsٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ(of) the criminals٢٠٠

Thus have We inserted it [i.e., disbelief] into the hearts of the criminals.

٢٦:٢٠١

لَاNotيُؤْمِنُونَthey will believeبِهِۦin itحَتَّىٰuntilيَرَوُا۟they seeٱلْعَذَابَthe punishmentٱلْأَلِيمَ[the] painful٢٠١

They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment.

٢٦:٢٠٢

فَيَأْتِيَهُمAnd it will come to themبَغْتَةًۭsuddenlyوَهُمْwhile theyلَا(do) notيَشْعُرُونَperceive٢٠٢

And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not.

٢٦:٢٠٣

فَيَقُولُوا۟Then they will sayهَلْAreنَحْنُweمُنظَرُونَ(to be) reprieved٢٠٣

And they will say, "May we be reprieved?"

٢٦:٢٠٤

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَاSo is it for Our punishmentيَسْتَعْجِلُونَthey wish to hasten٢٠٤

So for Our punishment are they impatient?

٢٦:٢٠٥

أَفَرَءَيْتَThen have you seenإِنifمَّتَّعْنَـٰهُمْWe let them enjoyسِنِينَ(for) years٢٠٥

Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years

٢٦:٢٠٦

ثُمَّThenجَآءَهُمcomes to themمَّاwhatكَانُوا۟they wereيُوعَدُونَpromised٢٠٦

And then there came to them that which they were promised?

٢٦:٢٠٧

مَآNotأَغْنَىٰ(will) availعَنْهُمthemمَّاwhatكَانُوا۟enjoyment they were givenيُمَتَّعُونَenjoyment they were given٢٠٧

They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided.

٢٦:٢٠٨

وَمَآAnd notأَهْلَكْنَاWe destroyedمِنanyقَرْيَةٍtownإِلَّاbutلَهَاit hadمُنذِرُونَwarners٢٠٨

And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners

٢٦:٢٠٩

ذِكْرَىٰ(To) remindوَمَاand notكُنَّاWe areظَـٰلِمِينَunjust٢٠٩

As a reminder; and never have We been unjust.

٢٦:٢١٠

وَمَاAnd notتَنَزَّلَتْhave brought it downبِهِhave brought it downٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُthe devils٢١٠

And the devils have not brought it [i.e., the revelation] down.

٢٦:٢١١

وَمَاAnd notيَنۢبَغِى(it) suitsلَهُمْ[for] themوَمَاand notيَسْتَطِيعُونَthey are able٢١١

It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able.

٢٦:٢١٢

إِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyعَنِfromٱلسَّمْعِthe hearingلَمَعْزُولُونَ(are) surely banished٢١٢

Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed.

٢٦:٢١٣

فَلَاSo (do) notتَدْعُinvokeمَعَwithٱللَّهِAllahإِلَـٰهًاgodءَاخَرَanotherفَتَكُونَlest you beمِنَofٱلْمُعَذَّبِينَthose punished٢١٣

So do not invoke with Allāh another deity and [thus] be among the punished.

٢٦:٢١٤

وَأَنذِرْAnd warnعَشِيرَتَكَyour kindredٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ[the] closest٢١٤

And warn, [O Muḥammad], your closest kindred.

٢٦:٢١٥

وَٱخْفِضْAnd lowerجَنَاحَكَyour wingلِمَنِto (those) whoٱتَّبَعَكَfollow youمِنَofٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believers٢١٥

And lower your wing [i.e., show kindness] to those who follow you of the believers.

٢٦:٢١٦

فَإِنْThen ifعَصَوْكَthey disobey youفَقُلْthen sayإِنِّىIndeed, I amبَرِىٓءٌۭinnocentمِّمَّاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou do٢١٦

And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing."

٢٦:٢١٧

وَتَوَكَّلْAnd put (your) trustعَلَىinٱلْعَزِيزِthe All-Mightyٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful٢١٧

And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,

٢٦:٢١٨

ٱلَّذِىThe One Whoيَرَىٰكَsees youحِينَwhenتَقُومُyou stand up٢١٨

Who sees you when you arise

٢٦:٢١٩

وَتَقَلُّبَكَAnd your movementsفِىamongٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَthose who prostrate٢١٩

And your movement among those who prostrate.

٢٦:٢٢٠

إِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heهُوَ[He]ٱلسَّمِيعُ(is) the All-Hearerٱلْعَلِيمُthe All-Knower٢٢٠

Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.

٢٦:٢٢١

هَلْShallأُنَبِّئُكُمْI inform youعَلَىٰuponمَنwhomتَنَزَّلُdescendٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُthe devils٢٢١

Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend?

٢٦:٢٢٢

تَنَزَّلُThey descendعَلَىٰuponكُلِّeveryأَفَّاكٍliarأَثِيمٍۢsinful٢٢٢

They descend upon every sinful liar.

٢٦:٢٢٣

يُلْقُونَThey pass onٱلسَّمْعَ(what is) heardوَأَكْثَرُهُمْand most of themكَـٰذِبُونَ(are) liars٢٢٣

They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars.

٢٦:٢٢٤

وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُAnd the poets يَتَّبِعُهُمُfollow themٱلْغَاوُۥنَthe deviators٢٢٤

And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them;

٢٦:٢٢٥

أَلَمْDo notتَرَyou seeأَنَّهُمْthat theyفِىinكُلِّeveryوَادٍۢvalleyيَهِيمُونَ[they] roam٢٢٥

Do you not see that in every valley they roam

٢٦:٢٢٦

وَأَنَّهُمْAnd that theyيَقُولُونَsayمَاwhatلَاnotيَفْعَلُونَthey do٢٢٦

And that they say what they do not do? -

٢٦:٢٢٧

إِلَّاExceptٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believeوَعَمِلُوا۟and doٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِrighteous deedsوَذَكَرُوا۟and rememberٱللَّهَAllahكَثِيرًۭاmuchوَٱنتَصَرُوا۟and defend themselvesمِنۢafterبَعْدِafterمَاafterظُلِمُوا۟ ۗthey were wrongedوَسَيَعْلَمُAnd will come to knowٱلَّذِينَthose whoظَلَمُوٓا۟have wrongedأَىَّ(to) whatمُنقَلَبٍۢreturnيَنقَلِبُونَthey will return٢٢٧

Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allāh often and defend [the Muslims]1 after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.
