الشعراء

سورة الشعراء (الشعراء) هي السورة رقم ٢٦ في القرآن الكريم — وهي سورة مكية تتألف من ٢٢٧ آية. السور المكية نزلت قبل هجرة النبي محمد ﷺ إلى المدينة، وتركّز غالبًا على الإيمان وتوحيد الله والآخرة.

بسملة
بِسْمِIn (the) namebis'miٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousl-raḥmāniٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmi
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
٢٦:١
طسٓمٓTa Seem Meemtta-seen-meem١
Ṭā, Seen, Meem.
٢٦:٢
تِلْكَThesetil'kaءَايَـٰتُ(are the) Versesāyātuٱلْكِتَـٰبِ(of) the Bookl-kitābiٱلْمُبِينِclearl-mubīni٢
These are the verses of the clear Book.
٢٦:٣
لَعَلَّكَPerhaps youlaʿallakaبَـٰخِعٌۭ(would) killbākhiʿunنَّفْسَكَyourselfnafsakaأَلَّاthat notallāيَكُونُوا۟they becomeyakūnūمُؤْمِنِينَbelieversmu'minīna٣
Perhaps, [O Muḥammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.
٢٦:٤
إِنIfinنَّشَأْWe willnashaنُنَزِّلْWe can send downnunazzilعَلَيْهِمto themʿalayhimمِّنَfromminaٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyl-samāiءَايَةًۭa Signāyatanفَظَلَّتْso would bendfaẓallatأَعْنَـٰقُهُمْtheir necksaʿnāquhumلَهَاto itlahāخَـٰضِعِينَ(in) humilitykhāḍiʿīna٤
If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled.
٢٦:٥
وَمَاAnd (does) notwamāيَأْتِيهِمcome to themyatīhimمِّنanyminذِكْرٍۢreminderdhik'rinمِّنَfromminaٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousl-raḥmāniمُحْدَثٍnewmuḥ'dathinإِلَّاbutillāكَانُوا۟theykānūعَنْهُfrom itʿanhuمُعْرِضِينَturn awaymuʿ'riḍīna٥
And no mention [i.e., revelation] comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it.
٢٦:٦
فَقَدْSo verilyfaqadكَذَّبُوا۟they have deniedkadhabūفَسَيَأْتِيهِمْthen will come to themfasayatīhimأَنۢبَـٰٓؤُا۟the newsanbāuمَا(of) whatكَانُوا۟they usedkānūبِهِۦat itbihiيَسْتَهْزِءُونَ(to) mockyastahziūna٦
For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule.
٢٦:٧
أَوَلَمْDo notawalamيَرَوْا۟they seeyarawإِلَىatilāٱلْأَرْضِthe earth l-arḍiكَمْhow manykamأَنۢبَتْنَاWe producedanbatnāفِيهَاin itfīhāمِنofminكُلِّeverykulliزَوْجٍۢkindzawjinكَرِيمٍnoblekarīmin٧
Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?
٢٦:٨
إِنَّIndeedinnaفِىinذَٰلِكَthatdhālikaلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely (is) a signlaāyatanوَمَاbut notwamāكَانَarekānaأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themaktharuhumمُّؤْمِنِينَbelieversmu'minīna٨
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
٢٦:٩
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaرَبَّكَyour Lordrabbakaلَهُوَsurely, Helahuwaٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyl-ʿazīzuٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmu٩
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
٢٦:١٠
وَإِذْAnd whenwa-idhنَادَىٰyour Lord callednādāرَبُّكَyour Lord calledrabbukaمُوسَىٰٓMusamūsāأَنِ[that]aniٱئْتِGoi'tiٱلْقَوْمَ(to) the peoplel-qawmaٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ(who are) wrongdoersl-ẓālimīna١٠
And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -
٢٦:١١
قَوْمَ(The) peopleqawmaفِرْعَوْنَ ۚ(of) Firaunfir'ʿawnaأَلَاWill notalāيَتَّقُونَthey fearyattaqūna١١
The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allāh?"
٢٦:١٢
قَالَHe saidqālaرَبِّMy LordrabbiإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iinnīأَخَافُ[I] fearakhāfuأَنthatanيُكَذِّبُونِthey will deny meyukadhibūni١٢
He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
٢٦:١٣
وَيَضِيقُAnd straitenswayaḍīquصَدْرِىmy breastṣadrīوَلَاand notwalāيَنطَلِقُexpresses wellyanṭaliquلِسَانِىmy tonguelisānīفَأَرْسِلْso sendfa-arsilإِلَىٰforilāهَـٰرُونَHarunhārūna١٣
And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.
٢٦:١٤
وَلَهُمْAnd they havewalahumعَلَىَّagainst meʿalayyaذَنۢبٌۭa crimedhanbunفَأَخَافُso I fearfa-akhāfuأَنthatanيَقْتُلُونِthey will kill meyaqtulūni١٤
And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."
٢٦:١٥
قَالَHe saidqālaكَلَّا ۖNaykallāفَٱذْهَبَاgo both of youfa-idh'habāبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۖwith Our SignsbiāyātināإِنَّاIndeed, Weinnāمَعَكُم(are) with youmaʿakumمُّسْتَمِعُونَlisteningmus'tamiʿūna١٥
[Allāh] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.
٢٦:١٦
فَأْتِيَاSo go both of youfatiyāفِرْعَوْنَ(to) Firaunfir'ʿawnaفَقُولَآand sayfaqūlāإِنَّا'Indeed, weinnāرَسُولُ(are the) Messengerrasūluرَبِّ(of the) Lordrabbiٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna١٦
Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds,
٢٦:١٧
أَنْ[That]anأَرْسِلْsendarsilمَعَنَاwith usmaʿanāبَنِىٓ(the) Children of Israel.'banīإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(the) Children of Israel.'is'rāīla١٧
[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"
٢٦:١٨
قَالَHe saidqālaأَلَمْDid notalamنُرَبِّكَwe bring you upnurabbikaفِينَاamong usfīnāوَلِيدًۭا(as) a childwalīdanوَلَبِثْتَand you remainedwalabith'taفِينَاamong usfīnāمِنْofminعُمُرِكَyour lifeʿumurikaسِنِينَyearssinīna١٨
[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?
٢٦:١٩
وَفَعَلْتَAnd you didwafaʿaltaفَعْلَتَكَyour deedfaʿlatakaٱلَّتِىwhichallatīفَعَلْتَyou didfaʿaltaوَأَنتَand youwa-antaمِنَ(were) ofminaٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَthe ungratefull-kāfirīna١٩
And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful."
٢٦:٢٠
قَالَHe saidqālaفَعَلْتُهَآI did itfaʿaltuhāإِذًۭاwhenidhanوَأَنَا۠Iwa-anāمِنَ(was) ofminaٱلضَّآلِّينَthose who are astrayl-ḍālīna٢٠
[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray [i.e., ignorant].
٢٦:٢١
فَفَرَرْتُSo I fledfafarartuمِنكُمْfrom youminkumلَمَّاwhenlammāخِفْتُكُمْI feared youkhif'tukumفَوَهَبَBut grantedfawahabaلِىto meرَبِّىmy Lordrabbīحُكْمًۭاjudgmentḥuk'manوَجَعَلَنِىand made mewajaʿalanīمِنَofminaٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengersl-mur'salīna٢١
So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me judgement [i.e., wisdom and prophet hood] and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.
٢٦:٢٢
وَتِلْكَAnd thiswatil'kaنِعْمَةٌۭ(is the) favorniʿ'matunتَمُنُّهَاwith which you reproachtamunnuhāعَلَىَّ[on] meʿalayyaأَنْthatanعَبَّدتَّyou have enslavedʿabbadttaبَنِىٓ(the) Children of Israelbanīإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(the) Children of Israelis'rāīla٢٢
And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"
٢٦:٢٣
قَالَFiraun saidqālaفِرْعَوْنُFiraun saidfir'ʿawnuوَمَاAnd whatwamāرَبُّ(is the) Lordrabbuٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna٢٣
Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"
٢٦:٢٤
قَالَHe saidqālaرَبُّLordrabbuٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensl-samāwātiوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthwal-arḍiوَمَاand whateverwamāبَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ(is) between thembaynahumāإِنifinكُنتُمyou (should) bekuntumمُّوقِنِينَconvincedmūqinīna٢٤
[Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced."
٢٦:٢٥
قَالَHe saidqālaلِمَنْto thoselimanحَوْلَهُۥٓaround himḥawlahuأَلَاDo notalāتَسْتَمِعُونَyou heartastamiʿūna٢٥
[Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?"
٢٦:٢٦
قَالَHe saidqālaرَبُّكُمْYour Lordrabbukumوَرَبُّand (the) Lordwarabbuءَابَآئِكُمُ(of) your forefathersābāikumuٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) your forefathersl-awalīna٢٦
[Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers."
٢٦:٢٧
قَالَHe saidqālaإِنَّIndeedinnaرَسُولَكُمُyour Messengerrasūlakumuٱلَّذِىٓwhoalladhīأُرْسِلَhas been sentur'silaإِلَيْكُمْto youilaykumلَمَجْنُونٌۭ(is) surely madlamajnūnun٢٧
[Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad."
٢٦:٢٨
قَالَHe saidqālaرَبُّLordrabbuٱلْمَشْرِقِ(of) the eastl-mashriqiوَٱلْمَغْرِبِand the westwal-maghribiوَمَاand whateverwamāبَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ(is) between thembaynahumāإِنifinكُنتُمْyou werekuntumتَعْقِلُونَ(to) reasontaʿqilūna٢٨
[Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason."
٢٦:٢٩
قَالَHe saidqālaلَئِنِIfla-iniٱتَّخَذْتَyou takeittakhadhtaإِلَـٰهًاa godilāhanغَيْرِىother than meghayrīلَأَجْعَلَنَّكَI will surely make youla-ajʿalannakaمِنَamongminaٱلْمَسْجُونِينَthose imprisonedl-masjūnīna٢٩
[Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned."
٢٦:٣٠
قَالَHe saidqālaأَوَلَوْEven ifawalawجِئْتُكَI bring youji'tukaبِشَىْءٍۢsomethingbishayinمُّبِينٍۢmanifestmubīnin٣٠
[Moses] said, "Even if I brought you something [i.e., proof] manifest?"
٢٦:٣١
قَالَHe saidqālaفَأْتِThen bringfatiبِهِۦٓitbihiإِنifinكُنتَyou arekuntaمِنَofminaٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَthe truthfull-ṣādiqīna٣١
[Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful."
٢٦:٣٢
فَأَلْقَىٰSo he threwfa-alqāعَصَاهُhis staffʿaṣāhuفَإِذَاand beholdfa-idhāهِىَIthiyaثُعْبَانٌۭ(was) a serpentthuʿ'bānunمُّبِينٌۭmanifestmubīnun٣٢
So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.
٢٦:٣٣
وَنَزَعَAnd he drew outwanazaʿaيَدَهُۥhis handyadahuفَإِذَاand beholdfa-idhāهِىَIthiyaبَيْضَآءُ(was) whitebayḍāuلِلنَّـٰظِرِينَfor the observerslilnnāẓirīna٣٣
And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.
٢٦:٣٤
قَالَHe saidqālaلِلْمَلَإِto the chiefslil'mala-iحَوْلَهُۥٓaround himḥawlahuإِنَّIndeedinnaهَـٰذَاthishādhāلَسَـٰحِرٌ(is) surely a magicianlasāḥirunعَلِيمٌۭlearnedʿalīmun٣٤
[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician.
٢٦:٣٥
يُرِيدُHe wantsyurīduأَنtoanيُخْرِجَكُمdrive you outyukh'rijakumمِّنْfromminأَرْضِكُمyour landarḍikumبِسِحْرِهِۦby his magicbisiḥ'rihiفَمَاذَاso whatfamādhāتَأْمُرُونَ(do) you advisetamurūna٣٥
He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?"
٢٦:٣٦
قَالُوٓا۟They saidqālūأَرْجِهْPostpone himarjihوَأَخَاهُand his brotherwa-akhāhuوَٱبْعَثْand sendwa-ib'ʿathفِىinٱلْمَدَآئِنِthe citiesl-madāiniحَـٰشِرِينَgatherers ḥāshirīna٣٦
They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers
٢٦:٣٧
يَأْتُوكَThey (will) bring to youyatūkaبِكُلِّeverybikulliسَحَّارٍmagiciansaḥḥārinعَلِيمٍۢlearnedʿalīmin٣٧
Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician."
٢٦:٣٨
فَجُمِعَSo were assembledfajumiʿaٱلسَّحَرَةُthe magiciansl-saḥaratuلِمِيقَـٰتِfor (the) appointmentlimīqātiيَوْمٍۢ(on) a dayyawminمَّعْلُومٍۢwell-knownmaʿlūmin٣٨
So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day.
٢٦:٣٩
وَقِيلَAnd it was saidwaqīlaلِلنَّاسِto the peoplelilnnāsiهَلْWillhalأَنتُمyouantumمُّجْتَمِعُونَassemblemuj'tamiʿūna٣٩
And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate.
٢٦:٤٠
لَعَلَّنَاThat we maylaʿallanāنَتَّبِعُfollownattabiʿuٱلسَّحَرَةَthe magiciansl-saḥarataإِنifinكَانُوا۟they arekānūهُمُthey arehumuٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَthe victoriousl-ghālibīna٤٠
That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?"
٢٦:٤١
فَلَمَّاSo whenfalammāجَآءَcamejāaٱلسَّحَرَةُthe magiciansl-saḥaratuقَالُوا۟they saidqālūلِفِرْعَوْنَto Firaunlifir'ʿawnaأَئِنَّIs therea-innaلَنَاfor uslanāلَأَجْرًاa rewardla-ajranإِنifinكُنَّاwe arekunnāنَحْنُwe arenaḥnuٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَthe victoriousl-ghālibīna٤١
And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?"
٢٦:٤٢
قَالَHe saidqālaنَعَمْYesnaʿamوَإِنَّكُمْand indeed youwa-innakumإِذًۭاthenidhanلَّمِنَsurely (will be) oflaminaٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَthe ones who are brought nearl-muqarabīna٤٢
He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]."
٢٦:٤٣
قَالَSaidqālaلَهُمto themlahumمُّوسَىٰٓMusamūsāأَلْقُوا۟Throwalqūمَآwhatأَنتُمyouantumمُّلْقُونَ(are) going to throwmul'qūna٤٣
Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw."
٢٦:٤٤
فَأَلْقَوْا۟So they threwfa-alqawحِبَالَهُمْtheir ropesḥibālahumوَعِصِيَّهُمْand their staffswaʿiṣiyyahumوَقَالُوا۟and saidwaqālūبِعِزَّةِBy the mightbiʿizzatiفِرْعَوْنَ(of) Firaunfir'ʿawnaإِنَّاindeed, weinnāلَنَحْنُsurely, welanaḥnuٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ(are) the victoriousl-ghālibūna٤٤
So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant."
٢٦:٤٥
فَأَلْقَىٰThen threwfa-alqāمُوسَىٰMusamūsāعَصَاهُhis staffʿaṣāhuفَإِذَاand beholdfa-idhāهِىَIthiyaتَلْقَفُswallowedtalqafuمَاwhatيَأْفِكُونَthey falsifiedyafikūna٤٥
Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.
٢٦:٤٦
فَأُلْقِىَThen fell downfa-ul'qiyaٱلسَّحَرَةُthe magiciansl-saḥaratuسَـٰجِدِينَprostratesājidīna٤٦
So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allāh].
٢٦:٤٧
قَالُوٓا۟They saidqālūءَامَنَّاWe believeāmannāبِرَبِّin (the) Lordbirabbiٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna٤٧
They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,
٢٦:٤٨
رَبِّLordrabbiمُوسَىٰ(of) Musamūsāوَهَـٰرُونَand Harunwahārūna٤٨
The Lord of Moses and Aaron."
٢٦:٤٩
قَالَHe saidqālaءَامَنتُمْYou believedāmantumلَهُۥin himlahuقَبْلَbeforeqablaأَنْ[that]anءَاذَنَI gave permissionādhanaلَكُمْ ۖto youlakumإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heinnahuلَكَبِيرُكُمُ(is) surely your chieflakabīrukumuٱلَّذِىwhoalladhīعَلَّمَكُمُhas taught youʿallamakumuٱلسِّحْرَthe magicl-siḥ'raفَلَسَوْفَso surely soonfalasawfaتَعْلَمُونَ ۚyou will knowtaʿlamūnaلَأُقَطِّعَنَّI will surely cut offla-uqaṭṭiʿannaأَيْدِيَكُمْyour handsaydiyakumوَأَرْجُلَكُمand your feetwa-arjulakumمِّنْofminخِلَـٰفٍۢopposite sideskhilāfinوَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْand I will surely crucify youwala-uṣallibannakumأَجْمَعِينَallajmaʿīna٤٩
[Pharaoh] said, "You believed him [i.e., Moses] before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."
٢٦:٥٠
قَالُوا۟They saidqālūلَاNoضَيْرَ ۖharmḍayraإِنَّآIndeed, weinnāإِلَىٰtoilāرَبِّنَاour Lordrabbināمُنقَلِبُونَ(will) returnmunqalibūna٥٠
They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.
٢٦:٥١
إِنَّاIndeed, weinnāنَطْمَعُhopenaṭmaʿuأَنthatanيَغْفِرَwill forgiveyaghfiraلَنَاuslanāرَبُّنَاour Lordrabbunāخَطَـٰيَـٰنَآour sinskhaṭāyānāأَنbecauseanكُنَّآwe arekunnāأَوَّلَ(the) firstawwalaٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ(of) the believersl-mu'minīna٥١
Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers."
٢٦:٥٢
۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَآAnd We inspiredwa-awḥaynāإِلَىٰtoilāمُوسَىٰٓMusamūsāأَنْ[that]anأَسْرِTravel by nightasriبِعِبَادِىٓwith My slavesbiʿibādīإِنَّكُمindeed, youinnakumمُّتَّبَعُونَ(will be) followedmuttabaʿūna٥٢
And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued."
٢٦:٥٣
فَأَرْسَلَThen sentfa-arsalaفِرْعَوْنُFiraunfir'ʿawnuفِىinٱلْمَدَآئِنِthe citiesl-madāiniحَـٰشِرِينَgatherersḥāshirīna٥٣
Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers
٢٦:٥٤
إِنَّIndeedinnaهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِthesehāulāiلَشِرْذِمَةٌۭ(are) certainly a bandlashir'dhimatunقَلِيلُونَsmallqalīlūna٥٤
[And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band,
٢٦:٥٥
وَإِنَّهُمْAnd indeed, theywa-innahumلَنَا[to] uslanāلَغَآئِظُونَ(are) surely enraginglaghāiẓūna٥٥
And indeed, they are enraging us,
٢٦:٥٦
وَإِنَّاAnd indeed, wewa-innāلَجَمِيعٌ(are) surely a multitudelajamīʿunحَـٰذِرُونَforewarnedḥādhirūna٥٦
And indeed, we are a cautious society..."
٢٦:٥٧
فَأَخْرَجْنَـٰهُمSo We expelled themfa-akhrajnāhumمِّنfromminجَنَّـٰتٍۢgardensjannātinوَعُيُونٍۢand springswaʿuyūnin٥٧
So We removed them from gardens and springs
٢٦:٥٨
وَكُنُوزٍۢAnd treasureswakunūzinوَمَقَامٍۢand a placewamaqāminكَرِيمٍۢhonorablekarīmin٥٨
And treasures and honorable station -
٢٦:٥٩
كَذَٰلِكَThuskadhālikaوَأَوْرَثْنَـٰهَاAnd We caused to inherit themwa-awrathnāhāبَنِىٓ(the) Children of Israelbanīإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(the) Children of Israelis'rāīla٥٩
Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.
٢٦:٦٠
فَأَتْبَعُوهُمSo they followed themfa-atbaʿūhumمُّشْرِقِينَ(at) sunrisemush'riqīna٦٠
So they pursued them at sunrise.
٢٦:٦١
فَلَمَّاThen whenfalammāتَرَٰٓءَاsaw each othertarāāٱلْجَمْعَانِthe two hostsl-jamʿāniقَالَsaidqālaأَصْحَـٰبُ(the) companionsaṣḥābuمُوسَىٰٓ(of) MusamūsāإِنَّاIndeed, weinnāلَمُدْرَكُونَ(are) surely to be overtakenlamud'rakūna٦١
And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"
٢٦:٦٢
قَالَHe saidqālaكَلَّآ ۖNaykallāإِنَّindeedinnaمَعِىَwith memaʿiyaرَبِّى(is) my LordrabbīسَيَهْدِينِHe will guide mesayahdīni٦٢
[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."
٢٦:٦٣
فَأَوْحَيْنَآThen We inspiredfa-awḥaynāإِلَىٰtoilāمُوسَىٰٓMusamūsāأَنِ[that]aniٱضْرِبStrikeiḍ'ribبِّعَصَاكَwith your staffbiʿaṣākaٱلْبَحْرَ ۖthe seal-baḥraفَٱنفَلَقَSo it partedfa-infalaqaفَكَانَand becamefakānaكُلُّeachkulluفِرْقٍۢpartfir'qinكَٱلطَّوْدِlike the mountainkal-ṭawdiٱلْعَظِيمِ[the] greatl-ʿaẓīmi٦٣
Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.
٢٦:٦٤
وَأَزْلَفْنَاAnd We brought nearwa-azlafnāثَمَّtherethammaٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَthe othersl-ākharīna٦٤
And We advanced thereto the others [i.e., the pursuers].
٢٦:٦٥
وَأَنجَيْنَاAnd We savedwa-anjaynāمُوسَىٰMusamūsāوَمَنand whowamanمَّعَهُۥٓ(were) with himmaʿahuأَجْمَعِينَallajmaʿīna٦٥
And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.
٢٦:٦٦
ثُمَّThenthummaأَغْرَقْنَاWe drownedaghraqnāٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَthe othersl-ākharīna٦٦
Then We drowned the others.
٢٦:٦٧
إِنَّIndeedinnaفِىinذَٰلِكَthatdhālikaلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely (is) a Signlaāyatanوَمَاbut notwamāكَانَarekānaأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themaktharuhumمُّؤْمِنِينَbelieversmu'minīna٦٧
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
٢٦:٦٨
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaرَبَّكَyour Lordrabbakaلَهُوَsurely Helahuwaٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyl-ʿazīzuٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmu٦٨
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
٢٦:٦٩
وَٱتْلُAnd recitewa-ut'luعَلَيْهِمْto themʿalayhimنَبَأَ(the) newsnaba-aإِبْرَٰهِيمَ(of) Ibrahimib'rāhīma٦٩
And recite to them the news of Abraham,
٢٦:٧٠
إِذْWhenidhقَالَhe saidqālaلِأَبِيهِto his fatherli-abīhiوَقَوْمِهِۦand his peoplewaqawmihiمَاWhatتَعْبُدُونَ(do) you worshiptaʿbudūna٧٠
When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"
٢٦:٧١
قَالُوا۟They saidqālūنَعْبُدُWe worshipnaʿbuduأَصْنَامًۭاidolsaṣnāmanفَنَظَلُّso we will remainfanaẓalluلَهَاto themlahāعَـٰكِفِينَdevotedʿākifīna٧١
They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."
٢٦:٧٢
قَالَHe saidqālaهَلْDohalيَسْمَعُونَكُمْthey hear youyasmaʿūnakumإِذْwhenidhتَدْعُونَyou calltadʿūna٧٢
He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate?
٢٦:٧٣
أَوْOrawيَنفَعُونَكُمْ(do) they benefit youyanfaʿūnakumأَوْorawيَضُرُّونَthey harm (you)yaḍurrūna٧٣
Or do they benefit you, or do they harm?"
٢٦:٧٤
قَالُوا۟They saidqālūبَلْNaybalوَجَدْنَآbut we foundwajadnāءَابَآءَنَاour forefathersābāanāكَذَٰلِكَlike that kadhālikaيَفْعَلُونَdoingyafʿalūna٧٤
They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus."
٢٦:٧٥
قَالَHe saidqālaأَفَرَءَيْتُمDo you seeafara-aytumمَّاwhatكُنتُمْyou have beenkuntumتَعْبُدُونَworshippingtaʿbudūna٧٥
He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping,
٢٦:٧٦
أَنتُمْYouantumوَءَابَآؤُكُمُand your forefatherswaābāukumuٱلْأَقْدَمُونَand your forefathersl-aqdamūna٧٦
You and your ancient forefathers?
٢٦:٧٧
فَإِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyfa-innahumعَدُوٌّۭ(are) enemiesʿaduwwunلِّىٓto meإِلَّاexceptillāرَبَّ(the) Lordrabbaٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna٧٧
Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,
٢٦:٧٨
ٱلَّذِىThe One Whoalladhīخَلَقَنِىcreated mekhalaqanīفَهُوَand Hefahuwaيَهْدِينِguides meyahdīni٧٨
Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me.
٢٦:٧٩
وَٱلَّذِىAnd the One Whowa-alladhīهُوَ[He]huwaيُطْعِمُنِىgives me foodyuṭ'ʿimunīوَيَسْقِينِand gives me drinkwayasqīni٧٩
And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.
٢٦:٨٠
وَإِذَاAnd whenwa-idhāمَرِضْتُI am illmariḍ'tuفَهُوَthen Hefahuwaيَشْفِينِcures meyashfīni٨٠
And when I am ill, it is He who cures me
٢٦:٨١
وَٱلَّذِىAnd the One Whowa-alladhīيُمِيتُنِىwill cause me to dieyumītunīثُمَّthenthummaيُحْيِينِhe will give me lifeyuḥ'yīni٨١
And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life
٢٦:٨٢
وَٱلَّذِىٓAnd the One Who wa-alladhīأَطْمَعُI hopeaṭmaʿuأَنthatanيَغْفِرَHe will forgiveyaghfiraلِىfor meخَطِيٓـَٔتِىmy faultskhaṭīatīيَوْمَ(on the) Dayyawmaٱلدِّينِ(of) the Judgmentl-dīni٨٢
And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."
٢٦:٨٣
رَبِّMy LordrabbiهَبْGranthabلِى[for] meحُكْمًۭاwisdomḥuk'manوَأَلْحِقْنِىand join mewa-alḥiq'nīبِٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَwith the righteousbil-ṣāliḥīna٨٣
[And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.
٢٦:٨٤
وَٱجْعَلAnd grantwa-ij'ʿalلِّى[for] meلِسَانَa mentionlisānaصِدْقٍۢ(of) honorṣid'qinفِىamongٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَthe later (generations)l-ākhirīna٨٤
And grant me a mention [i.e., reputation] of honor among later generations.
٢٦:٨٥
وَٱجْعَلْنِىAnd make mewa-ij'ʿalnīمِنofminوَرَثَةِ(the) inheritorswarathatiجَنَّةِ(of) Garden(s)jannatiٱلنَّعِيمِ(of) Delightl-naʿīmi٨٥
And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.
٢٦:٨٦
وَٱغْفِرْAnd forgivewa-igh'firلِأَبِىٓmy fatherli-abīإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heinnahuكَانَiskānaمِنَofminaٱلضَّآلِّينَthose astrayl-ḍālīna٨٦
And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.
٢٦:٨٧
وَلَاAnd (do) notwalāتُخْزِنِىdisgrace metukh'zinīيَوْمَ(on the) Dayyawmaيُبْعَثُونَthey are resurrectedyub'ʿathūna٨٧
And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected -
٢٦:٨٨
يَوْمَ(The) Dayyawmaلَاnotيَنفَعُwill benefityanfaʿuمَالٌۭwealthmālunوَلَاand notwalāبَنُونَsonsbanūna٨٨
The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children
٢٦:٨٩
إِلَّاExceptillāمَنْ(he) whomanأَتَىcomesatāٱللَّهَ(to) Allahl-lahaبِقَلْبٍۢwith a heartbiqalbinسَلِيمٍۢsoundsalīmin٨٩
But only one who comes to Allāh with a sound heart."
٢٦:٩٠
وَأُزْلِفَتِAnd (will be) brought nearwa-uz'lifatiٱلْجَنَّةُthe Paradisel-janatuلِلْمُتَّقِينَfor the righteouslil'muttaqīna٩٠
And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous.
٢٦:٩١
وَبُرِّزَتِAnd (will be) made manifestwaburrizatiٱلْجَحِيمُthe Hellfirel-jaḥīmuلِلْغَاوِينَto the deviatorslil'ghāwīna٩١
And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators,
٢٦:٩٢
وَقِيلَAnd it will be saidwaqīlaلَهُمْto themlahumأَيْنَWhereaynaمَا(is) thatكُنتُمْyou usedkuntumتَعْبُدُونَ(to) worshiptaʿbudūna٩٢
And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship
٢٦:٩٣
مِنBesides AllahminدُونِBesides AllahdūniٱللَّهِBesides Allahl-lahiهَلْCanhalيَنصُرُونَكُمْthey help youyanṣurūnakumأَوْorawيَنتَصِرُونَhelp themselvesyantaṣirūna٩٣
Other than Allāh? Can they help you or help themselves?"
٢٦:٩٤
فَكُبْكِبُوا۟Then they will be overturnedfakub'kibūفِيهَاinto itfīhāهُمْtheyhumوَٱلْغَاوُۥنَand the deviatorswal-ghāwūna٩٤
So they will be overturned into it [i.e., Hellfire], they and the deviators
٢٦:٩٥
وَجُنُودُAnd (the) hostswajunūduإِبْلِيسَ(of) Iblisib'līsaأَجْمَعُونَall togetherajmaʿūna٩٥
And the soldiers of Iblees, all together.
٢٦:٩٦
قَالُوا۟They (will) sayqālūوَهُمْwhile theywahumفِيهَاin itfīhāيَخْتَصِمُونَ(are) disputingyakhtaṣimūna٩٦
They will say while they dispute therein,
٢٦:٩٧
تَٱللَّهِBy Allahtal-lahiإِنindeedinكُنَّاwe werekunnāلَفِىsurely inlafīضَلَـٰلٍۢerrorḍalālinمُّبِينٍclearmubīnin٩٧
"By Allāh, we were indeed in manifest error
٢٦:٩٨
إِذْWhenidhنُسَوِّيكُمwe equated younusawwīkumبِرَبِّwith (the) Lordbirabbiٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna٩٨
When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds.
٢٦:٩٩
وَمَآAnd notwamāأَضَلَّنَآmisguided usaḍallanāإِلَّاexceptillāٱلْمُجْرِمُونَthe criminalsl-muj'rimūna٩٩
And no one misguided us except the criminals.
٢٦:١٠٠
فَمَاSo (now) notfamāلَنَاwe havelanāمِنanyminشَـٰفِعِينَintercessorsshāfiʿīna١٠٠
So now we have no intercessors
٢٦:١٠١
وَلَاAnd notwalāصَدِيقٍa friendṣadīqinحَمِيمٍۢcloseḥamīmin١٠١
And not a devoted friend.
٢٦:١٠٢
فَلَوْThen iffalawأَنَّthatannaلَنَاwe hadlanāكَرَّةًۭa returnkarratanفَنَكُونَthen we could befanakūnaمِنَofminaٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersl-mu'minīna١٠٢
Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers..."1
٢٦:١٠٣
إِنَّIndeedinnaفِىinذَٰلِكَthatdhālikaلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely is a Signlaāyatanوَمَاbut notwamāكَانَarekānaأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themaktharuhumمُّؤْمِنِينَbelieversmu'minīna١٠٣
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
٢٦:١٠٤
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaرَبَّكَyour Lordrabbakaلَهُوَsurely Helahuwaٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyl-ʿazīzuٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmu١٠٤
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
٢٦:١٠٥
كَذَّبَتْDeniedkadhabatقَوْمُ(the) peopleqawmuنُوحٍ(of) Nuhnūḥinٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengersl-mur'salīna١٠٥
The people of Noah denied the messengers
٢٦:١٠٦
إِذْWhenidhقَالَsaidqālaلَهُمْto themlahumأَخُوهُمْtheir brotherakhūhumنُوحٌNuhnūḥunأَلَاWill notalāتَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)tattaqūna١٠٦
When their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?
٢٦:١٠٧
إِنِّىIndeed, I aminnīلَكُمْto youlakumرَسُولٌa Messengerrasūlunأَمِينٌۭtrustworthyamīnun١٠٧
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
٢٦:١٠٨
فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearfa-ittaqūٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaوَأَطِيعُونِand obey mewa-aṭīʿūni١٠٨
So fear Allāh and obey me.
٢٦:١٠٩
وَمَآAnd notwamāأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask (of) youasalukumعَلَيْهِfor itʿalayhiمِنْanyminأَجْرٍ ۖpaymentajrinإِنْNotinأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentajriyaإِلَّاbutillāعَلَىٰfromʿalāرَبِّ(the) Lordrabbiٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna١٠٩
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
٢٦:١١٠
فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearfa-ittaqūٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaوَأَطِيعُونِand obey mewa-aṭīʿūni١١٠
So fear Allāh and obey me."
٢٦:١١١
۞ قَالُوٓا۟They saidqālūأَنُؤْمِنُShould we believeanu'minuلَكَin youlakaوَٱتَّبَعَكَwhile followed youwa-ittabaʿakaٱلْأَرْذَلُونَthe lowestl-ardhalūna١١١
They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]?"
٢٦:١١٢
قَالَHe saidqālaوَمَاAnd whatwamāعِلْمِى(do) I knowʿil'mīبِمَاof whatbimāكَانُوا۟they usedkānūيَعْمَلُونَ(to) doyaʿmalūna١١٢
He said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do?
٢٦:١١٣
إِنْVerilyinحِسَابُهُمْtheir accountḥisābuhumإِلَّا(is) butillāعَلَىٰuponʿalāرَبِّى ۖmy Lordrabbīلَوْiflawتَشْعُرُونَyou perceivetashʿurūna١١٣
Their account is only upon my Lord, if you [could] perceive.
٢٦:١١٤
وَمَآAnd notwamāأَنَا۠I amanāبِطَارِدِthe one to drive awaybiṭāridiٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersl-mu'minīna١١٤
And I am not one to drive away the believers.
٢٦:١١٥
إِنْNotinأَنَا۠I amanāإِلَّاbutillāنَذِيرٌۭa warnernadhīrunمُّبِينٌۭclearmubīnun١١٥
I am only a clear warner."
٢٦:١١٦
قَالُوا۟They saidqālūلَئِنIfla-inلَّمْnotlamتَنتَهِyou desisttantahiيَـٰنُوحُO NuhyānūḥuلَتَكُونَنَّSurely you will belatakūnannaمِنَofminaٱلْمَرْجُومِينَthose who are stonedl-marjūmīna١١٦
They said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned."
٢٦:١١٧
قَالَHe saidqālaرَبِّMy LordrabbiإِنَّIndeedinnaقَوْمِىmy peopleqawmīكَذَّبُونِhave denied mekadhabūni١١٧
He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me.
٢٦:١١٨
فَٱفْتَحْSo judgefa-if'taḥبَيْنِىbetween mebaynīوَبَيْنَهُمْand between themwabaynahumفَتْحًۭا(with decisive) judgmentfatḥanوَنَجِّنِىand save mewanajjinīوَمَنand whowamanمَّعِىَ(are) with memaʿiyaمِنَofminaٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersl-mu'minīna١١٨
Then judge between me and them with decisive judgement and save me and those with me of the believers."
٢٦:١١٩
فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُSo We saved himfa-anjaynāhuوَمَنand whowamanمَّعَهُۥ(were) with himmaʿahuفِىinٱلْفُلْكِthe shipl-ful'kiٱلْمَشْحُونِladenl-mashḥūni١١٩
So We saved him and those with him in the laden ship.
٢٦:١٢٠
ثُمَّThenthummaأَغْرَقْنَاWe drownedaghraqnāبَعْدُthereafterbaʿduٱلْبَاقِينَthe remaining onesl-bāqīna١٢٠
Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones.
٢٦:١٢١
إِنَّIndeedinnaفِىinذَٰلِكَthatdhālikaلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely, (is) a signlaāyatanوَمَاbut notwamāكَانَarekānaأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themaktharuhumمُّؤْمِنِينَbelieversmu'minīna١٢١
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
٢٦:١٢٢
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaرَبَّكَyour Lordrabbakaلَهُوَsurely, Helahuwaٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyl-ʿazīzuٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmu١٢٢
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
٢٦:١٢٣
كَذَّبَتْDeniedkadhabatعَادٌ(the people) of Aadʿādunٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengersl-mur'salīna١٢٣
ʿAad denied the messengers
٢٦:١٢٤
إِذْWhenidhقَالَsaidqālaلَهُمْto themlahumأَخُوهُمْtheir brotherakhūhumهُودٌHudhūdunأَلَاWill notalāتَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)tattaqūna١٢٤
When their brother Hūd said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?
٢٦:١٢٥
إِنِّىIndeed, I aminnīلَكُمْto youlakumرَسُولٌa Messengerrasūlunأَمِينٌۭtrustworthyamīnun١٢٥
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
٢٦:١٢٦
فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearfa-ittaqūٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaوَأَطِيعُونِand obey mewa-aṭīʿūni١٢٦
So fear Allāh and obey me.
٢٦:١٢٧
وَمَآAnd notwamāأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask youasalukumعَلَيْهِfor itʿalayhiمِنْanyminأَجْرٍ ۖpaymentajrinإِنْNotinأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentajriyaإِلَّاexceptillāعَلَىٰfromʿalāرَبِّ(the) Lordrabbiٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna١٢٧
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
٢٦:١٢٨
أَتَبْنُونَDo you constructatabnūnaبِكُلِّon everybikulliرِيعٍelevationrīʿinءَايَةًۭa signāyatanتَعْبَثُونَamusing yourselvestaʿbathūna١٢٨
Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves,
٢٦:١٢٩
وَتَتَّخِذُونَAnd take for yourselveswatattakhidhūnaمَصَانِعَstrongholdsmaṣāniʿaلَعَلَّكُمْthat you maylaʿallakumتَخْلُدُونَlive forevertakhludūna١٢٩
And take for yourselves constructions [i.e., palaces and fortresses] that you might abide eternally?
٢٦:١٣٠
وَإِذَاAnd whenwa-idhāبَطَشْتُمyou seizebaṭashtumبَطَشْتُمْyou seizebaṭashtumجَبَّارِينَ(as) tyrantsjabbārīna١٣٠
And when you strike, you strike as tyrants.
٢٦:١٣١
فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearfa-ittaqūٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaوَأَطِيعُونِand obey mewa-aṭīʿūni١٣١
So fear Allāh and obey me.
٢٦:١٣٢
وَٱتَّقُوا۟And fearwa-ittaqūٱلَّذِىٓthe One Whoalladhīأَمَدَّكُمhas aided youamaddakumبِمَاwith whatbimāتَعْلَمُونَyou knowtaʿlamūna١٣٢
And fear He who provided you with that which you know,
٢٦:١٣٣
أَمَدَّكُمHe has aided youamaddakumبِأَنْعَـٰمٍۢwith cattlebi-anʿāminوَبَنِينَand childrenwabanīna١٣٣
Provided you with grazing livestock and children
٢٦:١٣٤
وَجَنَّـٰتٍۢAnd gardenswajannātinوَعُيُونٍand springswaʿuyūnin١٣٤
And gardens and springs.
٢٦:١٣٥
إِنِّىٓIndeed, Iinnīأَخَافُ[I] fearakhāfuعَلَيْكُمْfor youʿalaykumعَذَابَ(the) punishmentʿadhābaيَوْمٍ(of) a DayyawminعَظِيمٍۢGreatʿaẓīmin١٣٥
Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."
٢٦:١٣٦
قَالُوا۟They saidqālūسَوَآءٌ(It is) samesawāonعَلَيْنَآto usʿalaynāأَوَعَظْتَwhether you adviseawaʿaẓtaأَمْoramلَمْnotlamتَكُنyou aretakunمِّنَofminaٱلْوَٰعِظِينَthe advisorsl-wāʿiẓīna١٣٦
They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.
٢٦:١٣٧
إِنْNotinهَـٰذَآ(is) thishādhāإِلَّاbutillāخُلُقُ(the) customkhuluquٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) the former (people)l-awalīna١٣٧
This is not but the custom of the former peoples,
٢٦:١٣٨
وَمَاAnd notwamāنَحْنُwenaḥnuبِمُعَذَّبِينَ(are) the ones to be punishedbimuʿadhabīna١٣٨
And we are not to be punished."
٢٦:١٣٩
فَكَذَّبُوهُSo they denied himfakadhabūhuفَأَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ ۗthen We destroyed themfa-ahlaknāhumإِنَّIndeedinnaفِىinذَٰلِكَthatdhālikaلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely, is a signlaāyatanوَمَاbut notwamāكَانَarekānaأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themaktharuhumمُّؤْمِنِينَbelieversmu'minīna١٣٩
And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
٢٦:١٤٠
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaرَبَّكَyour Lordrabbakaلَهُوَsurely, Helahuwaٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyl-ʿazīzuٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmu١٤٠
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
٢٦:١٤١
كَذَّبَتْDeniedkadhabatثَمُودُThamudthamūduٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengersl-mur'salīna١٤١
Thamūd denied the messengers
٢٦:١٤٢
إِذْWhenidhقَالَsaidqālaلَهُمْto themlahumأَخُوهُمْtheir brotherakhūhumصَـٰلِحٌSalihṣāliḥunأَلَاWill notalāتَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)tattaqūna١٤٢
When their brother Ṣāliḥ said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?
٢٦:١٤٣
إِنِّىIndeed, I aminnīلَكُمْto youlakumرَسُولٌa Messengerrasūlunأَمِينٌۭtrustworthyamīnun١٤٣
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
٢٦:١٤٤
فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearfa-ittaqūٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaوَأَطِيعُونِand obey mewa-aṭīʿūni١٤٤
So fear Allāh and obey me.
٢٦:١٤٥
وَمَآAnd notwamāأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask youasalukumعَلَيْهِfor itʿalayhiمِنْanyminأَجْرٍ ۖpaymentajrinإِنْNotinأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentajriyaإِلَّاexceptillāعَلَىٰfromʿalāرَبِّ(the) Lordrabbiٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna١٤٥
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
٢٦:١٤٦
أَتُتْرَكُونَWill you be leftatut'rakūnaفِىinمَاwhatهَـٰهُنَآ(is) herehāhunāءَامِنِينَsecureāminīna١٤٦
Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death],
٢٦:١٤٧
فِىInجَنَّـٰتٍۢgardensjannātinوَعُيُونٍۢand springswaʿuyūnin١٤٧
Within gardens and springs
٢٦:١٤٨
وَزُرُوعٍۢAnd cornfieldswazurūʿinوَنَخْلٍۢand date-palmswanakhlinطَلْعُهَاits spadixṭalʿuhāهَضِيمٌۭsofthaḍīmun١٤٨
And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit?
٢٦:١٤٩
وَتَنْحِتُونَAnd you carvewatanḥitūnaمِنَofminaٱلْجِبَالِthe mountainsl-jibāliبُيُوتًۭاhousesbuyūtanفَـٰرِهِينَskillfullyfārihīna١٤٩
And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill.
٢٦:١٥٠
فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearfa-ittaqūٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaوَأَطِيعُونِand obey mewa-aṭīʿūni١٥٠
So fear Allāh and obey me.
٢٦:١٥١
وَلَاAnd (do) notwalāتُطِيعُوٓا۟obeytuṭīʿūأَمْرَ(the) commandamraٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ(of) the transgressorsl-mus'rifīna١٥١
And do not obey the order of the transgressors,
٢٦:١٥٢
ٱلَّذِينَThose whoalladhīnaيُفْسِدُونَspread corruptionyuf'sidūnaفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthl-arḍiوَلَاand (do) notwalāيُصْلِحُونَreformyuṣ'liḥūna١٥٢
Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend."
٢٦:١٥٣
قَالُوٓا۟They saidqālūإِنَّمَآOnlyinnamāأَنتَyouantaمِنَ(are) ofminaٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَthose bewitchedl-musaḥarīna١٥٣
They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.
٢٦:١٥٤
مَآNotأَنتَyouantaإِلَّا(are) exceptillāبَشَرٌۭa manbasharunمِّثْلُنَاlike usmith'lunāفَأْتِso bringfatiبِـَٔايَةٍa signbiāyatinإِنifinكُنتَyoukuntaمِنَ(are) ofminaٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَthe truthfull-ṣādiqīna١٥٤
You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful."
٢٦:١٥٥
قَالَHe saidqālaهَـٰذِهِۦThishādhihiنَاقَةٌۭ(is) a she-camelnāqatunلَّهَاFor herlahāشِرْبٌۭ(is a share of) drinkshir'bunوَلَكُمْand for youwalakumشِرْبُ(is a share of) drinkshir'buيَوْمٍۢ(on) a dayyawminمَّعْلُومٍۢknownmaʿlūmin١٥٥
He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day.
٢٦:١٥٦
وَلَاAnd (do) notwalāتَمَسُّوهَاtouch hertamassūhāبِسُوٓءٍۢwith harmbisūinفَيَأْخُذَكُمْlest seize youfayakhudhakumعَذَابُ(the) punishmentʿadhābuيَوْمٍ(of) a DayyawminعَظِيمٍۢGreatʿaẓīmin١٥٦
And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day."
٢٦:١٥٧
فَعَقَرُوهَاBut they hamstrung herfaʿaqarūhāفَأَصْبَحُوا۟then they becamefa-aṣbaḥūنَـٰدِمِينَregretfulnādimīna١٥٧
But they hamstrung her and so became regretful.
٢٦:١٥٨
فَأَخَذَهُمُSo seized themfa-akhadhahumuٱلْعَذَابُ ۗthe punishmentl-ʿadhābuإِنَّIndeedinnaفِىinذَٰلِكَthatdhālikaلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely is a signlaāyatanوَمَاbut notwamāكَانَarekānaأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themaktharuhumمُّؤْمِنِينَbelieversmu'minīna١٥٨
And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
٢٦:١٥٩
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaرَبَّكَyour Lordrabbakaلَهُوَsurely Helahuwaٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyl-ʿazīzuٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmu١٥٩
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
٢٦:١٦٠
كَذَّبَتْDeniedkadhabatقَوْمُ(the) peopleqawmuلُوطٍ(of) Lutlūṭinٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengersl-mur'salīna١٦٠
The people of Lot denied the messengers
٢٦:١٦١
إِذْWhenidhقَالَsaidqālaلَهُمْto themlahumأَخُوهُمْtheir brotherakhūhumلُوطٌLutlūṭunأَلَاWill notalāتَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)tattaqūna١٦١
When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?
٢٦:١٦٢
إِنِّىIndeed, I aminnīلَكُمْto youlakumرَسُولٌa Messengerrasūlunأَمِينٌۭtrustworthyamīnun١٦٢
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
٢٦:١٦٣
فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearfa-ittaqūٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaوَأَطِيعُونِand obey mewa-aṭīʿūni١٦٣
So fear Allāh and obey me.
٢٦:١٦٤
وَمَآAnd notwamāأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask youasalukumعَلَيْهِfor itʿalayhiمِنْanyminأَجْرٍ ۖpaymentajrinإِنْNotinأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentajriyaإِلَّاexceptillāعَلَىٰfromʿalāرَبِّ(the) Lordrabbiٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna١٦٤
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
٢٦:١٦٥
أَتَأْتُونَDo you approachatatūnaٱلذُّكْرَانَthe malesl-dhuk'rānaمِنَamongminaٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَthe worldsl-ʿālamīna١٦٥
Do you approach males among the worlds
٢٦:١٦٦
وَتَذَرُونَAnd you leavewatadharūnaمَاwhatخَلَقَcreatedkhalaqaلَكُمْfor youlakumرَبُّكُمyour Lordrabbukumمِّنْofminأَزْوَٰجِكُم ۚyour matesazwājikumبَلْNaybalأَنتُمْyouantumقَوْمٌ(are) a peopleqawmunعَادُونَtransgressingʿādūna١٦٦
And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing."
٢٦:١٦٧
قَالُوا۟They saidqālūلَئِنIfla-inلَّمْnotlamتَنتَهِyou desisttantahiيَـٰلُوطُO LutyālūṭuلَتَكُونَنَّSurely, you will belatakūnannaمِنَofminaٱلْمُخْرَجِينَthe ones driven outl-mukh'rajīna١٦٧
They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted."
٢٦:١٦٨
قَالَHe saidqālaإِنِّىIndeed, I aminnīلِعَمَلِكُم(of) your deedliʿamalikumمِّنَofminaٱلْقَالِينَthose who detestl-qālīna١٦٨
He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it].
٢٦:١٦٩
رَبِّMy LordrabbiنَجِّنِىSave menajjinīوَأَهْلِىand my familywa-ahlīمِمَّاfrom whatmimmāيَعْمَلُونَthey doyaʿmalūna١٦٩
My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do."
٢٦:١٧٠
فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُSo We saved himfanajjaynāhuوَأَهْلَهُۥٓand his familywa-ahlahuأَجْمَعِينَallajmaʿīna١٧٠
So We saved him and his family, all,
٢٦:١٧١
إِلَّاExceptillāعَجُوزًۭاan old womanʿajūzanفِى(was) amongٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَthose who remained behindl-ghābirīna١٧١
Except an old woman among those who remained behind.
٢٦:١٧٢
ثُمَّThenthummaدَمَّرْنَاWe destroyeddammarnāٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَthe othersl-ākharīna١٧٢
Then We destroyed the others.
٢٦:١٧٣
وَأَمْطَرْنَاAnd We rainedwa-amṭarnāعَلَيْهِمupon themʿalayhimمَّطَرًۭا ۖa rainmaṭaranفَسَآءَand evil wasfasāaمَطَرُ(was) the rainmaṭaruٱلْمُنذَرِينَ(on) those who were warnedl-mundharīna١٧٣
And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.
٢٦:١٧٤
إِنَّIndeedinnaفِىinذَٰلِكَthatdhālikaلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely is a signlaāyatanوَمَاbut notwamāكَانَarekānaأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themaktharuhumمُّؤْمِنِينَbelieversmu'minīna١٧٤
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
٢٦:١٧٥
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaرَبَّكَyour Lordrabbakaلَهُوَsurely, Helahuwaٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyl-ʿazīzuٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmu١٧٥
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
٢٦:١٧٦
كَذَّبَDeniedkadhabaأَصْحَـٰبُ(the) companionsaṣḥābuلْـَٔيْكَةِ(of the) Woodal'aykatiٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengersl-mur'salīna١٧٦
The companions of the thicket [i.e., the people of Madyan] denied the messengers
٢٦:١٧٧
إِذْWhenidhقَالَsaidqālaلَهُمْto themlahumشُعَيْبٌShuaibshuʿaybunأَلَاWill notalāتَتَّقُونَyou fear (Allah)tattaqūna١٧٧
When Shuʿayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allāh?
٢٦:١٧٨
إِنِّىIndeed, I aminnīلَكُمْto youlakumرَسُولٌa Messengerrasūlunأَمِينٌۭtrustworthyamīnun١٧٨
Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger.
٢٦:١٧٩
فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearfa-ittaqūٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaوَأَطِيعُونِand obey mewa-aṭīʿūni١٧٩
So fear Allāh and obey me.
٢٦:١٨٠
وَمَآAnd notwamāأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask (of) youasalukumعَلَيْهِfor itʿalayhiمِنْanyminأَجْرٍ ۖpaymentajrinإِنْNotinأَجْرِىَ(is) my paymentajriyaإِلَّاexceptillāعَلَىٰfromʿalāرَبِّ(the) Lordrabbiٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna١٨٠
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
٢٦:١٨١
۞ أَوْفُوا۟Give fullawfūٱلْكَيْلَmeasurel-kaylaوَلَاand (do) notwalāتَكُونُوا۟betakūnūمِنَofminaٱلْمُخْسِرِينَthose who cause lossl-mukh'sirīna١٨١
Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss.
٢٦:١٨٢
وَزِنُوا۟And weighwazinūبِٱلْقِسْطَاسِwith a balancebil-qis'ṭāsiٱلْمُسْتَقِيمِ[the] evenl-mus'taqīmi١٨٢
And weigh with an even [i.e., honest] balance.
٢٦:١٨٣
وَلَاAnd (do) notwalāتَبْخَسُوا۟deprivetabkhasūٱلنَّاسَpeoplel-nāsaأَشْيَآءَهُمْ(of) their thingsashyāahumوَلَاand (do) notwalāتَعْثَوْا۟commit eviltaʿthawفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthl-arḍiمُفْسِدِينَspreading corruptionmuf'sidīna١٨٣
And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption.
٢٦:١٨٤
وَٱتَّقُوا۟And fearwa-ittaqūٱلَّذِىthe One Whoalladhīخَلَقَكُمْcreated youkhalaqakumوَٱلْجِبِلَّةَand the generationswal-jibilataٱلْأَوَّلِينَthe formerl-awalīna١٨٤
And fear He who created you and the former creation."1
٢٦:١٨٥
قَالُوٓا۟They saidqālūإِنَّمَآOnlyinnamāأَنتَyouantaمِنَ(are) ofminaٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَthose bewitchedl-musaḥarīna١٨٥
They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.
٢٦:١٨٦
وَمَآAnd notwamāأَنتَyouantaإِلَّا(are) exceptillāبَشَرٌۭa manbasharunمِّثْلُنَاlike usmith'lunāوَإِنand indeedwa-inنَّظُنُّكَwe think younaẓunnukaلَمِنَsurely (are) oflaminaٱلْكَـٰذِبِينَthe liarsl-kādhibīna١٨٦
You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars.
٢٦:١٨٧
فَأَسْقِطْThen cause to fallfa-asqiṭعَلَيْنَاupon usʿalaynāكِسَفًۭاfragmentskisafanمِّنَofminaٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyl-samāiإِنifinكُنتَyou arekuntaمِنَofminaٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَthe truthfull-ṣādiqīna١٨٧
So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful."
٢٦:١٨٨
قَالَHe saidqālaرَبِّىٓMy Lordrabbīأَعْلَمُknows bestaʿlamuبِمَاof whatbimāتَعْمَلُونَyou dotaʿmalūna١٨٨
He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do."
٢٦:١٨٩
فَكَذَّبُوهُBut they denied himfakadhabūhuفَأَخَذَهُمْso seized themfa-akhadhahumعَذَابُ(the) punishmentʿadhābuيَوْمِ(of the) dayyawmiٱلظُّلَّةِ ۚ(of) the shadowl-ẓulatiإِنَّهُۥIndeed, itinnahuكَانَwaskānaعَذَابَ(the) punishmentʿadhābaيَوْمٍ(of) a DayyawminعَظِيمٍGreatʿaẓīmin١٨٩
And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day.
٢٦:١٩٠
إِنَّIndeedinnaفِىinذَٰلِكَthatdhālikaلَـَٔايَةًۭ ۖsurely, is a signlaāyatanوَمَاbut notwamāكَانَarekānaأَكْثَرُهُمmost of themaktharuhumمُّؤْمِنِينَbelieversmu'minīna١٩٠
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
٢٦:١٩١
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaرَبَّكَyour Lordrabbakaلَهُوَsurely, Helahuwaٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyl-ʿazīzuٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmu١٩١
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
٢٦:١٩٢
وَإِنَّهُۥAnd indeed, itwa-innahuلَتَنزِيلُsurely, is a Revelationlatanzīluرَبِّ(of the) Lordrabbiٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna١٩٢
And indeed, it [i.e., the Qur’ān] is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds.
٢٦:١٩٣
نَزَلَHas brought it downnazalaبِهِHas brought it downbihiٱلرُّوحُthe Spiritl-rūḥuٱلْأَمِينُ[the] Trustworthyl-amīnu١٩٣
The Trustworthy Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] has brought it down
٢٦:١٩٤
عَلَىٰUponʿalāقَلْبِكَyour heartqalbikaلِتَكُونَthat you may belitakūnaمِنَofminaٱلْمُنذِرِينَthe warnersl-mundhirīna١٩٤
Upon your heart, [O Muḥammad] - that you may be of the warners -
٢٦:١٩٥
بِلِسَانٍIn languagebilisāninعَرَبِىٍّۢArabicʿarabiyyinمُّبِينٍۢclearmubīnin١٩٥
In a clear Arabic language.
٢٦:١٩٦
وَإِنَّهُۥAnd indeed, itwa-innahuلَفِىsurely, (is) inlafīزُبُرِ(the) Scriptureszuburiٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) the former (people)l-awalīna١٩٦
And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples.
٢٦:١٩٧
أَوَلَمْIs it notawalamيَكُنIs it notyakunلَّهُمْto themlahumءَايَةًa signāyatanأَنthatanيَعْلَمَهُۥknow ityaʿlamahuعُلَمَـٰٓؤُا۟(the) scholarsʿulamāuبَنِىٓ(of the) Childrenbanīإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(of) Israelis'rāīla١٩٧
And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?
٢٦:١٩٨
وَلَوْAnd ifwalawنَزَّلْنَـٰهُWe (had) revealed itnazzalnāhuعَلَىٰtoʿalāبَعْضِanybaʿḍiٱلْأَعْجَمِينَ(of) the non-Arabsl-aʿjamīna١٩٨
And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners
٢٦:١٩٩
فَقَرَأَهُۥAnd he (had) recited itfaqara-ahuعَلَيْهِمto themʿalayhimمَّاnotكَانُوا۟they wouldkānūبِهِۦin itbihiمُؤْمِنِينَ(be) believersmu'minīna١٩٩
And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it.
٢٦:٢٠٠
كَذَٰلِكَThuskadhālikaسَلَكْنَـٰهُWe have inserted itsalaknāhuفِىintoقُلُوبِ(the) heartsqulūbiٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ(of) the criminalsl-muj'rimīna٢٠٠
Thus have We inserted it [i.e., disbelief] into the hearts of the criminals.
٢٦:٢٠١
لَاNotيُؤْمِنُونَthey will believeyu'minūnaبِهِۦin itbihiحَتَّىٰuntilḥattāيَرَوُا۟they seeyarawūٱلْعَذَابَthe punishmentl-ʿadhābaٱلْأَلِيمَ[the] painfull-alīma٢٠١
They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment.
٢٦:٢٠٢
فَيَأْتِيَهُمAnd it will come to themfayatiyahumبَغْتَةًۭsuddenlybaghtatanوَهُمْwhile theywahumلَا(do) notيَشْعُرُونَperceiveyashʿurūna٢٠٢
And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not.
٢٦:٢٠٣
فَيَقُولُوا۟Then they will sayfayaqūlūهَلْArehalنَحْنُwenaḥnuمُنظَرُونَ(to be) reprievedmunẓarūna٢٠٣
And they will say, "May we be reprieved?"
٢٦:٢٠٤
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَاSo is it for Our punishmentafabiʿadhābināيَسْتَعْجِلُونَthey wish to hastenyastaʿjilūna٢٠٤
So for Our punishment are they impatient?
٢٦:٢٠٥
أَفَرَءَيْتَThen have you seenafara-aytaإِنifinمَّتَّعْنَـٰهُمْWe let them enjoymattaʿnāhumسِنِينَ(for) yearssinīna٢٠٥
Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years
٢٦:٢٠٦
ثُمَّThenthummaجَآءَهُمcomes to themjāahumمَّاwhatكَانُوا۟they werekānūيُوعَدُونَpromisedyūʿadūna٢٠٦
And then there came to them that which they were promised?
٢٦:٢٠٧
مَآNotأَغْنَىٰ(will) availaghnāعَنْهُمthemʿanhumمَّاwhatكَانُوا۟enjoyment they were givenkānūيُمَتَّعُونَenjoyment they were givenyumattaʿūna٢٠٧
They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided.
٢٦:٢٠٨
وَمَآAnd notwamāأَهْلَكْنَاWe destroyedahlaknāمِنanyminقَرْيَةٍtownqaryatinإِلَّاbutillāلَهَاit hadlahāمُنذِرُونَwarnersmundhirūna٢٠٨
And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners
٢٦:٢٠٩
ذِكْرَىٰ(To) reminddhik'rāوَمَاand notwamāكُنَّاWe arekunnāظَـٰلِمِينَunjustẓālimīna٢٠٩
As a reminder; and never have We been unjust.
٢٦:٢١٠
وَمَاAnd notwamāتَنَزَّلَتْhave brought it downtanazzalatبِهِhave brought it downbihiٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُthe devilsl-shayāṭīnu٢١٠
And the devils have not brought it [i.e., the revelation] down.
٢٦:٢١١
وَمَاAnd notwamāيَنۢبَغِى(it) suitsyanbaghīلَهُمْ[for] themlahumوَمَاand notwamāيَسْتَطِيعُونَthey are ableyastaṭīʿūna٢١١
It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able.
٢٦:٢١٢
إِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyinnahumعَنِfromʿaniٱلسَّمْعِthe hearingl-samʿiلَمَعْزُولُونَ(are) surely banishedlamaʿzūlūna٢١٢
Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed.
٢٦:٢١٣
فَلَاSo (do) notfalāتَدْعُinvoketadʿuمَعَwithmaʿaٱللَّهِAllahl-lahiإِلَـٰهًاgodilāhanءَاخَرَanotherākharaفَتَكُونَlest you befatakūnaمِنَofminaٱلْمُعَذَّبِينَthose punishedl-muʿadhabīna٢١٣
So do not invoke with Allāh another deity and [thus] be among the punished.
٢٦:٢١٤
وَأَنذِرْAnd warnwa-andhirعَشِيرَتَكَyour kindredʿashīratakaٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ[the] closestl-aqrabīna٢١٤
And warn, [O Muḥammad], your closest kindred.
٢٦:٢١٥
وَٱخْفِضْAnd lowerwa-ikh'fiḍجَنَاحَكَyour wingjanāḥakaلِمَنِto (those) wholimaniٱتَّبَعَكَfollow youittabaʿakaمِنَofminaٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersl-mu'minīna٢١٥
And lower your wing [i.e., show kindness] to those who follow you of the believers.
٢٦:٢١٦
فَإِنْThen iffa-inعَصَوْكَthey disobey youʿaṣawkaفَقُلْthen sayfaqulإِنِّىIndeed, I aminnīبَرِىٓءٌۭinnocentbarīonمِّمَّاof whatmimmāتَعْمَلُونَyou dotaʿmalūna٢١٦
And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing."
٢٦:٢١٧
وَتَوَكَّلْAnd put (your) trustwatawakkalعَلَىinʿalāٱلْعَزِيزِthe All-Mightyl-ʿazīziٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmi٢١٧
And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,
٢٦:٢١٨
ٱلَّذِىThe One Whoalladhīيَرَىٰكَsees youyarākaحِينَwhenḥīnaتَقُومُyou stand uptaqūmu٢١٨
Who sees you when you arise
٢٦:٢١٩
وَتَقَلُّبَكَAnd your movementswataqallubakaفِىamongٱلسَّـٰجِدِينَthose who prostratel-sājidīna٢١٩
And your movement among those who prostrate.
٢٦:٢٢٠
إِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heinnahuهُوَ[He]huwaٱلسَّمِيعُ(is) the All-Hearerl-samīʿuٱلْعَلِيمُthe All-Knowerl-ʿalīmu٢٢٠
Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Knowing.
٢٦:٢٢١
هَلْShallhalأُنَبِّئُكُمْI inform youunabbi-ukumعَلَىٰuponʿalāمَنwhommanتَنَزَّلُdescendtanazzaluٱلشَّيَـٰطِينُthe devilsl-shayāṭīnu٢٢١
Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend?
٢٦:٢٢٢
تَنَزَّلُThey descendtanazzaluعَلَىٰuponʿalāكُلِّeverykulliأَفَّاكٍliaraffākinأَثِيمٍۢsinfulathīmin٢٢٢
They descend upon every sinful liar.
٢٦:٢٢٣
يُلْقُونَThey pass onyul'qūnaٱلسَّمْعَ(what is) heardl-samʿaوَأَكْثَرُهُمْand most of themwa-aktharuhumكَـٰذِبُونَ(are) liarskādhibūna٢٢٣
They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars.
٢٦:٢٢٤
وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُAnd the poets wal-shuʿarāuيَتَّبِعُهُمُfollow themyattabiʿuhumuٱلْغَاوُۥنَthe deviatorsl-ghāwūna٢٢٤
And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them;
٢٦:٢٢٥
أَلَمْDo notalamتَرَyou seetaraأَنَّهُمْthat theyannahumفِىinكُلِّeverykulliوَادٍۢvalleywādinيَهِيمُونَ[they] roamyahīmūna٢٢٥
Do you not see that in every valley they roam
٢٦:٢٢٦
وَأَنَّهُمْAnd that theywa-annahumيَقُولُونَsayyaqūlūnaمَاwhatلَاnotيَفْعَلُونَthey doyafʿalūna٢٢٦
And that they say what they do not do? -
٢٦:٢٢٧
إِلَّاExceptillāٱلَّذِينَthose whoalladhīnaءَامَنُوا۟believeāmanūوَعَمِلُوا۟and dowaʿamilūٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِrighteous deedsl-ṣāliḥātiوَذَكَرُوا۟and rememberwadhakarūٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaكَثِيرًۭاmuchkathīranوَٱنتَصَرُوا۟and defend themselveswa-intaṣarūمِنۢafterminبَعْدِafterbaʿdiمَاafterظُلِمُوا۟ ۗthey were wrongedẓulimūوَسَيَعْلَمُAnd will come to knowwasayaʿlamuٱلَّذِينَthose whoalladhīnaظَلَمُوٓا۟have wrongedẓalamūأَىَّ(to) whatayyaمُنقَلَبٍۢreturnmunqalabinيَنقَلِبُونَthey will returnyanqalibūna٢٢٧
Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allāh often and defend [the Muslims]1 after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.
