بسملة

بِسْمِIn (the) nameٱللَّهِ(of) Allahٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

٥٦:١

إِذَاWhenوَقَعَتِoccursٱلْوَاقِعَةُthe Event١

When the Occurrence occurs,

٥٦:٢

لَيْسَNotلِوَقْعَتِهَاat its occurrenceكَاذِبَةٌa denial٢

There is, at its occurrence, no denial.

٥٦:٣

خَافِضَةٌۭBringing downرَّافِعَةٌraising up٣

It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].

٥٦:٤

إِذَاWhenرُجَّتِwill be shakenٱلْأَرْضُthe earthرَجًّۭا(with) a shaking٤

When the earth is shaken with convulsion

٥٦:٥

وَبُسَّتِAnd will be crumbledٱلْجِبَالُthe mountainsبَسًّۭا(with awful) crumbling٥

And the mountains are broken down, crumbling

٥٦:٦

فَكَانَتْSo they becomeهَبَآءًۭdust particlesمُّنۢبَثًّۭاdispersing٦

And become dust dispersing,

٥٦:٧

وَكُنتُمْAnd you will becomeأَزْوَٰجًۭاkindsثَلَـٰثَةًۭthree٧

And you become [of] three kinds:

٥٦:٨

فَأَصْحَـٰبُThen (the) companionsٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ(of) the rightمَآwhatأَصْحَـٰبُ(are the) companionsٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ(of) the right٨

Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?

٥٦:٩

وَأَصْحَـٰبُAnd (the) companionsٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ(of) the leftمَآwhatأَصْحَـٰبُ(are the) companionsٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ(of) the left٩

And the companions of the left - what are companions of the left?

٥٦:١٠

وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَAnd the foremostٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ(are) the foremost١٠

And the forerunners, the forerunners -

٥٦:١١

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَThoseٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ(are) the nearest ones١١

Those are the ones brought near [to Allāh]

٥٦:١٢

فِىInجَنَّـٰتِGardensٱلنَّعِيمِ(of) Pleasure١٢

In the Gardens of Pleasure,

٥٦:١٣

ثُلَّةٌۭA companyمِّنَofٱلْأَوَّلِينَthe former (people)١٣

A [large] company of the former peoples

٥٦:١٤

وَقَلِيلٌۭAnd a fewمِّنَofٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَthe later (people)١٤

And a few of the later peoples,

٥٦:١٥

عَلَىٰOnسُرُرٍۢthronesمَّوْضُونَةٍۢdecorated١٥

On thrones woven [with ornament],

٥٦:١٦

مُّتَّكِـِٔينَRecliningعَلَيْهَاon themمُتَقَـٰبِلِينَfacing each other١٦

Reclining on them, facing each other.

٥٦:١٧

يَطُوفُWill circulateعَلَيْهِمْamong themوِلْدَٰنٌۭboysمُّخَلَّدُونَimmortal١٧

There will circulate among them young boys made eternal.

٥٦:١٨

بِأَكْوَابٍۢWith vesselsوَأَبَارِيقَand jugsوَكَأْسٍۢand a cupمِّنfromمَّعِينٍۢa flowing stream١٨

With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring -

٥٦:١٩

لَّاNotيُصَدَّعُونَthey will get headacheعَنْهَاtherefromوَلَاand notيُنزِفُونَthey will get intoxicated١٩

No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated -

٥٦:٢٠

وَفَـٰكِهَةٍۢAnd fruitsمِّمَّاof whatيَتَخَيَّرُونَthey select٢٠

And fruit of what they select

٥٦:٢١

وَلَحْمِAnd (the) fleshطَيْرٍۢ(of) fowlsمِّمَّاof whatيَشْتَهُونَthey desire٢١

And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire.

٥٦:٢٢

وَحُورٌAnd fair onesعِينٌۭ(with) large eyes٢٢

And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes,

٥٦:٢٣

كَأَمْثَـٰلِLikeٱللُّؤْلُؤِpearlsٱلْمَكْنُونِwell-protected٢٣

The likenesses of pearls well-protected,

٥٦:٢٤

جَزَآءًۢA rewardبِمَاfor whatكَانُوا۟they used (to)يَعْمَلُونَdo٢٤

As reward for what they used to do.

٥٦:٢٥

لَاNotيَسْمَعُونَthey will hearفِيهَاthereinلَغْوًۭاvain talkوَلَاand notتَأْثِيمًاsinful (speech)٢٥

They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin -

٥٦:٢٦

إِلَّاExceptقِيلًۭاa sayingسَلَـٰمًۭاPeaceسَلَـٰمًۭاPeace٢٦

Only a saying [of] peace, peace.

٥٦:٢٧

وَأَصْحَـٰبُAnd (the) companionsٱلْيَمِينِ(of) the rightمَآwhatأَصْحَـٰبُ(are the) companionsٱلْيَمِينِ(of) the right٢٧

The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?

٥٦:٢٨

فِىAmongسِدْرٍۢlote treesمَّخْضُودٍۢthornless٢٨

[They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed.

٥٦:٢٩

وَطَلْحٍۢAnd banana treesمَّنضُودٍۢlayered٢٩

And [banana] trees layered [with fruit].

٥٦:٣٠

وَظِلٍّۢAnd shadeمَّمْدُودٍۢextended٣٠

And shade extended.

٥٦:٣١

وَمَآءٍۢAnd waterمَّسْكُوبٍۢpoured forth٣١

And water poured out

٥٦:٣٢

وَفَـٰكِهَةٍۢAnd fruitكَثِيرَةٍۢabundant٣٢

And fruit, abundant [and varied],

٥٦:٣٣

لَّاNotمَقْطُوعَةٍۢlimitedوَلَاand notمَمْنُوعَةٍۢforbidden٣٣

Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden,

٥٦:٣٤

وَفُرُشٍۢAnd (on) couchesمَّرْفُوعَةٍraised٣٤

And [upon] beds raised high.

٥٦:٣٥

إِنَّآIndeed, Weأَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّ[We] have produced themإِنشَآءًۭ(into) a creation٣٥

Indeed, We have produced them [i.e., the women of Paradise] in a [new] creation

٥٦:٣٦

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّAnd We have made themأَبْكَارًاvirgins٣٦

And made them virgins,

٥٦:٣٧

عُرُبًاDevotedأَتْرَابًۭاequals in age٣٧

Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age,

٥٦:٣٨

لِّأَصْحَـٰبِFor (the) companionsٱلْيَمِينِ(of) the right٣٨

For the companions of the right [who are]

٥٦:٣٩

ثُلَّةٌۭA companyمِّنَofٱلْأَوَّلِينَthe former people٣٩

A company of the former peoples

٥٦:٤٠

وَثُلَّةٌۭAnd a companyمِّنَofٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَthe later people٤٠

And a company of the later peoples.

٥٦:٤١

وَأَصْحَـٰبُAnd (the) companionsٱلشِّمَالِ(of) the leftمَآwhatأَصْحَـٰبُ(are the) companionsٱلشِّمَالِ(of) the left٤١

And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?

٥٦:٤٢

فِىInسَمُومٍۢscorching fireوَحَمِيمٍۢand scalding water٤٢

[They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water

٥٦:٤٣

وَظِلٍّۢAnd a shadeمِّنofيَحْمُومٍۢblack smoke٤٣

And a shade of black smoke,

٥٦:٤٤

لَّاNotبَارِدٍۢcoolوَلَاand notكَرِيمٍpleasant٤٤

Neither cool nor beneficial.

٥٦:٤٥

إِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyكَانُوا۟wereقَبْلَbeforeذَٰلِكَthatمُتْرَفِينَindulging in affluence٤٥

Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence,

٥٦:٤٦

وَكَانُوا۟And wereيُصِرُّونَpersistingعَلَىinٱلْحِنثِthe sinٱلْعَظِيمِthe great٤٦

And they used to persist in the great violation,

٥٦:٤٧

وَكَانُوا۟And they used (to)يَقُولُونَsayأَئِذَاWhenمِتْنَاwe dieوَكُنَّاand becomeتُرَابًۭاdustوَعِظَـٰمًاand bonesأَءِنَّاwill weلَمَبْعُوثُونَsurely be resurrected٤٧

And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

٥٦:٤٨

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَاAnd also our fathersٱلْأَوَّلُونَformer٤٨

And our forefathers [as well]?"

٥٦:٤٩

قُلْSayإِنَّIndeedٱلْأَوَّلِينَthe formerوَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَand the later people٤٩

Say, [O Muḥammad], "Indeed, the former and later peoples

٥٦:٥٠

لَمَجْمُوعُونَSurely, will be gatheredإِلَىٰforمِيقَـٰتِ(the) appointmentيَوْمٍۢ(of) a Dayمَّعْلُومٍۢwell-known٥٠

Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day."

٥٦:٥١

ثُمَّThenإِنَّكُمْindeed youأَيُّهَاO those astrayٱلضَّآلُّونَO those astrayٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَthe deniers٥١

Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers,

٥٦:٥٢

لَـَٔاكِلُونَWill surely eatمِنfromشَجَرٍۢ(the) treeمِّنofزَقُّومٍۢZaqqum٥٢

Will be eating from trees of zaqqūm

٥٦:٥٣

فَمَالِـُٔونَThen will fillمِنْهَاwith itٱلْبُطُونَthe bellies٥٣

And filling with it your bellies

٥٦:٥٤

فَشَـٰرِبُونَAnd drinkعَلَيْهِover itمِنَ[from]ٱلْحَمِيمِthe scalding water٥٤

And drinking on top of it from scalding water.

٥٦:٥٥

فَشَـٰرِبُونَAnd will drinkشُرْبَ(as) drinkingٱلْهِيمِ(of) the thirsty camels٥٥

And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels.

٥٦:٥٦

هَـٰذَاThisنُزُلُهُمْ(is) their hospitalityيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلدِّينِ(of) Judgment٥٦

That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense.

٥٦:٥٧

نَحْنُWeخَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ[We] created youفَلَوْلَاso why (do) notتُصَدِّقُونَyou admit the truth٥٧

We have created you, so why do you not believe?

٥٦:٥٨

أَفَرَءَيْتُمDo you seeمَّاwhatتُمْنُونَyou emit٥٨

Have you seen that which you emit?

٥٦:٥٩

ءَأَنتُمْIs it youتَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓwho create itأَمْorنَحْنُ(are) Weٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَthe Creators٥٩

Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?

٥٦:٦٠

نَحْنُWeقَدَّرْنَا[We] have decreedبَيْنَكُمُamong youٱلْمَوْتَthe deathوَمَاand notنَحْنُWeبِمَسْبُوقِينَ(are) outrun٦٠

We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone

٥٦:٦١

عَلَىٰٓInأَنthatنُّبَدِّلَWe (will) changeأَمْثَـٰلَكُمْyour likeness[es]وَنُنشِئَكُمْand produce youفِىinمَاwhatلَاnotتَعْلَمُونَyou know٦١

In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.

٥٦:٦٢

وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyعَلِمْتُمُyou knowٱلنَّشْأَةَthe creationٱلْأُولَىٰthe firstفَلَوْلَاso why notتَذَكَّرُونَyou take heed٦٢

And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember?

٥٦:٦٣

أَفَرَءَيْتُمAnd do you seeمَّاwhatتَحْرُثُونَyou sow٦٣

And have you seen that [seed] which you sow?

٥٦:٦٤

ءَأَنتُمْIs it you (who)تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓcause it to growأَمْorنَحْنُ(are) Weٱلزَّٰرِعُونَthe Ones Who grow٦٤

Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?

٥٦:٦٥

لَوْIfنَشَآءُWe willedلَجَعَلْنَـٰهُWe (would) surely, make itحُطَـٰمًۭاdebrisفَظَلْتُمْthen you would remainتَفَكَّهُونَwondering٦٥

If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder,

٥٦:٦٦

إِنَّاIndeed, weلَمُغْرَمُونَsurely are laden with debt٦٦

[Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt;

٥٦:٦٧

بَلْNayنَحْنُweمَحْرُومُونَ(are) deprived٦٧

Rather, we have been deprived."

٥٦:٦٨

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُDo you seeٱلْمَآءَthe waterٱلَّذِىwhichتَشْرَبُونَyou drink٦٨

And have you seen the water that you drink?

٥٦:٦٩

ءَأَنتُمْIs it youأَنزَلْتُمُوهُwho send it downمِنَfromٱلْمُزْنِthe rain cloudsأَمْorنَحْنُWeٱلْمُنزِلُونَ(are) the Ones to send٦٩

Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?

٥٦:٧٠

لَوْIfنَشَآءُWe willedجَعَلْنَـٰهُWe (could) make itأُجَاجًۭاsaltyفَلَوْلَاthen why are you not gratefulتَشْكُرُونَthen why are you not grateful٧٠

If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?

٥٦:٧١

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُDo you seeٱلنَّارَthe Fireٱلَّتِىwhichتُورُونَyou ignite٧١

And have you seen the fire that you ignite?

٥٦:٧٢

ءَأَنتُمْIs it youأَنشَأْتُمْwho producedشَجَرَتَهَآits treeأَمْorنَحْنُWeٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ(are) the Producers٧٢

Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?

٥٦:٧٣

نَحْنُWeجَعَلْنَـٰهَاhave made itتَذْكِرَةًۭa reminderوَمَتَـٰعًۭاand a provisionلِّلْمُقْوِينَfor the wayfarers in the desert٧٣

We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers,

٥٦:٧٤

فَسَبِّحْSo glorifyبِٱسْمِ(the) nameرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordٱلْعَظِيمِthe Most Great٧٤

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

٥٦:٧٥

۞ فَلَآBut nayأُقْسِمُI swearبِمَوَٰقِعِby settingٱلنُّجُومِ(of) the stars٧٥

Then I swear by the setting of the stars,

٥٦:٧٦

وَإِنَّهُۥAnd indeed, itلَقَسَمٌۭ(is) surely an oathلَّوْifتَعْلَمُونَyou know عَظِيمٌgreat٧٦

And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great.

٥٦:٧٧

إِنَّهُۥIndeed, itلَقُرْءَانٌۭ(is) surely, a Quranكَرِيمٌۭnoble٧٧

Indeed, it is a noble Qur’ān.

٥٦:٧٨

فِىInكِتَـٰبٍۢa Bookمَّكْنُونٍۢwell-guarded٧٨

In a Register well-protected;.

٥٦:٧٩

لَّاNoneيَمَسُّهُۥٓtouch itإِلَّاexceptٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَthe purified٧٩

None touch it except the purified [i.e., the angels].

٥٦:٨٠

تَنزِيلٌۭA Revelationمِّنfromرَّبِّ(the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds٨٠

[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

٥٦:٨١

أَفَبِهَـٰذَاThen is it to thisٱلْحَدِيثِstatementأَنتُمthat youمُّدْهِنُونَ(are) indifferent٨١

Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent

٥٦:٨٢

وَتَجْعَلُونَAnd you makeرِزْقَكُمْyour provisionأَنَّكُمْthat youتُكَذِّبُونَdeny٨٢

And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]?

٥٦:٨٣

فَلَوْلَآThen why notإِذَاwhenبَلَغَتِit reachesٱلْحُلْقُومَthe throat٨٣

Then why, when it [i.e., the soul at death] reaches the throat

٥٦:٨٤

وَأَنتُمْAnd youحِينَئِذٍۢ(at) that timeتَنظُرُونَlook on٨٤

And you are at that time looking on -

٥٦:٨٥

وَنَحْنُAnd Weأَقْرَبُ(are) nearerإِلَيْهِto himمِنكُمْthan youوَلَـٰكِنbutلَّاyou (do) not seeتُبْصِرُونَyou (do) not see٨٥

And We [i.e., Our angels] are nearer to him than you, but you do not see -

٥٦:٨٦

فَلَوْلَآThen why notإِنifكُنتُمْyou areغَيْرَnotمَدِينِينَto be recompensed٨٦

Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed,

٥٦:٨٧

تَرْجِعُونَهَآBring it backإِنifكُنتُمْyou areصَـٰدِقِينَtruthful٨٧

Bring it back, if you should be truthful?

٥٦:٨٨

فَأَمَّآThenإِنifكَانَhe wasمِنَofٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَthose brought near٨٨

And if he [i.e., the deceased] was of those brought near [to Allāh],

٥٦:٨٩

فَرَوْحٌۭThen restوَرَيْحَانٌۭand bountyوَجَنَّتُand a Gardenنَعِيمٍۢ(of) Pleasure٨٩

Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure.

٥٦:٩٠

وَأَمَّآAndإِنifكَانَhe wasمِنْofأَصْحَـٰبِ(the) companionsٱلْيَمِينِ(of) the right٩٠

And if he was of the companions of the right,

٥٦:٩١

فَسَلَـٰمٌۭThen, peaceلَّكَfor youمِنْ[from]أَصْحَـٰبِ(the) companionsٱلْيَمِينِ(of) the right٩١

Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right."

٥٦:٩٢

وَأَمَّآButإِنifكَانَhe wasمِنَofٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَthe deniersٱلضَّآلِّينَthe astray٩٢

But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray,

٥٦:٩٣

فَنُزُلٌۭThen, hospitalityمِّنْofحَمِيمٍۢ(the) scalding water٩٣

Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water

٥٦:٩٤

وَتَصْلِيَةُAnd burningجَحِيمٍ(in) Hellfire٩٤

And burning in Hellfire.

٥٦:٩٥

إِنَّIndeedهَـٰذَاthisلَهُوَsurely, itحَقُّ(is the) truthٱلْيَقِينِcertain٩٥

Indeed, this is the true certainty,

٥٦:٩٦

فَسَبِّحْSo glorifyبِٱسْمِ(the) nameرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordٱلْعَظِيمِthe Most Great٩٦

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

الواقعة
