Meccan 96 Ayahs Juz 1

الواقعة

Bismillah

بِسْمِ In (the) name ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ the Most Gracious ٱلرَّحِيمِ the Most Merciful

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

56:1

إِذَا When وَقَعَتِ occurs ٱلْوَاقِعَةُ the Event ١ (1)

When the Occurrence occurs,

56:2

لَيْسَ Not لِوَقْعَتِهَا at its occurrence كَاذِبَةٌ a denial ٢ (2)

There is, at its occurrence, no denial.

56:3

خَافِضَةٌۭ Bringing down رَّافِعَةٌ raising up ٣ (3)

It will bring down [some] and raise up [others].

56:4

إِذَا When رُجَّتِ will be shaken ٱلْأَرْضُ the earth رَجًّۭا (with) a shaking ٤ (4)

When the earth is shaken with convulsion

56:5

وَبُسَّتِ And will be crumbled ٱلْجِبَالُ the mountains بَسًّۭا (with awful) crumbling ٥ (5)

And the mountains are broken down, crumbling

56:6

فَكَانَتْ So they become هَبَآءًۭ dust particles مُّنۢبَثًّۭا dispersing ٦ (6)

And become dust dispersing,

56:7

وَكُنتُمْ And you will become أَزْوَٰجًۭا kinds ثَلَـٰثَةًۭ three ٧ (7)

And you become [of] three kinds:

56:8

فَأَصْحَـٰبُ Then (the) companions ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ (of) the right مَآ what أَصْحَـٰبُ (are the) companions ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ (of) the right ٨ (8)

Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?

56:9

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ And (the) companions ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ (of) the left مَآ what أَصْحَـٰبُ (are the) companions ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ (of) the left ٩ (9)

And the companions of the left - what are companions of the left?

56:10

وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ And the foremost ٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ (are) the foremost ١٠ (10)

And the forerunners, the forerunners -

56:11

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَ (are) the nearest ones ١١ (11)

Those are the ones brought near [to Allāh]

56:12

فِى In جَنَّـٰتِ Gardens ٱلنَّعِيمِ (of) Pleasure ١٢ (12)

In the Gardens of Pleasure,

56:13

ثُلَّةٌۭ A company مِّنَ of ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ the former (people) ١٣ (13)

A [large] company of the former peoples

56:14

وَقَلِيلٌۭ And a few مِّنَ of ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ the later (people) ١٤ (14)

And a few of the later peoples,

56:15

عَلَىٰ On سُرُرٍۢ thrones مَّوْضُونَةٍۢ decorated ١٥ (15)

On thrones woven [with ornament],

56:16

مُّتَّكِـِٔينَ Reclining عَلَيْهَا on them مُتَقَـٰبِلِينَ facing each other ١٦ (16)

Reclining on them, facing each other.

56:17

يَطُوفُ Will circulate عَلَيْهِمْ among them وِلْدَٰنٌۭ boys مُّخَلَّدُونَ immortal ١٧ (17)

There will circulate among them young boys made eternal.

56:18

بِأَكْوَابٍۢ With vessels وَأَبَارِيقَ and jugs وَكَأْسٍۢ and a cup مِّن from مَّعِينٍۢ a flowing stream ١٨ (18)

With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring -

56:19

لَّا Not يُصَدَّعُونَ they will get headache عَنْهَا therefrom وَلَا and not يُنزِفُونَ they will get intoxicated ١٩ (19)

No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated -

56:20

وَفَـٰكِهَةٍۢ And fruits مِّمَّا of what يَتَخَيَّرُونَ they select ٢٠ (20)

And fruit of what they select

56:21

وَلَحْمِ And (the) flesh طَيْرٍۢ (of) fowls مِّمَّا of what يَشْتَهُونَ they desire ٢١ (21)

And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire.

56:22

وَحُورٌ And fair ones عِينٌۭ (with) large eyes ٢٢ (22)

And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes,

56:23

كَأَمْثَـٰلِ Like ٱللُّؤْلُؤِ pearls ٱلْمَكْنُونِ well-protected ٢٣ (23)

The likenesses of pearls well-protected,

56:24

جَزَآءًۢ A reward بِمَا for what كَانُوا۟ they used (to) يَعْمَلُونَ do ٢٤ (24)

As reward for what they used to do.

56:25

لَا Not يَسْمَعُونَ they will hear فِيهَا therein لَغْوًۭا vain talk وَلَا and not تَأْثِيمًا sinful (speech) ٢٥ (25)

They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin -

56:26

إِلَّا Except قِيلًۭا a saying سَلَـٰمًۭا Peace سَلَـٰمًۭا Peace ٢٦ (26)

Only a saying [of] peace, peace.

56:27

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ And (the) companions ٱلْيَمِينِ (of) the right مَآ what أَصْحَـٰبُ (are the) companions ٱلْيَمِينِ (of) the right ٢٧ (27)

The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right?

56:28

فِى Among سِدْرٍۢ lote trees مَّخْضُودٍۢ thornless ٢٨ (28)

[They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed.

56:29

وَطَلْحٍۢ And banana trees مَّنضُودٍۢ layered ٢٩ (29)

And [banana] trees layered [with fruit].

56:30

وَظِلٍّۢ And shade مَّمْدُودٍۢ extended ٣٠ (30)

And shade extended.

56:31

وَمَآءٍۢ And water مَّسْكُوبٍۢ poured forth ٣١ (31)

And water poured out

56:32

وَفَـٰكِهَةٍۢ And fruit كَثِيرَةٍۢ abundant ٣٢ (32)

And fruit, abundant [and varied],

56:33

لَّا Not مَقْطُوعَةٍۢ limited وَلَا and not مَمْنُوعَةٍۢ forbidden ٣٣ (33)

Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden,

56:34

وَفُرُشٍۢ And (on) couches مَّرْفُوعَةٍ raised ٣٤ (34)

And [upon] beds raised high.

56:35

إِنَّآ Indeed, We أَنشَأْنَـٰهُنَّ [We] have produced them إِنشَآءًۭ (into) a creation ٣٥ (35)

Indeed, We have produced them [i.e., the women of Paradise] in a [new] creation

56:36

فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُنَّ And We have made them أَبْكَارًا virgins ٣٦ (36)

And made them virgins,

56:37

عُرُبًا Devoted أَتْرَابًۭا equals in age ٣٧ (37)

Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age,

56:38

لِّأَصْحَـٰبِ For (the) companions ٱلْيَمِينِ (of) the right ٣٨ (38)

For the companions of the right [who are]

56:39

ثُلَّةٌۭ A company مِّنَ of ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ the former people ٣٩ (39)

A company of the former peoples

56:40

وَثُلَّةٌۭ And a company مِّنَ of ٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ the later people ٤٠ (40)

And a company of the later peoples.

56:41

وَأَصْحَـٰبُ And (the) companions ٱلشِّمَالِ (of) the left مَآ what أَصْحَـٰبُ (are the) companions ٱلشِّمَالِ (of) the left ٤١ (41)

And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left?

56:42

فِى In سَمُومٍۢ scorching fire وَحَمِيمٍۢ and scalding water ٤٢ (42)

[They will be] in scorching fire and scalding water

56:43

وَظِلٍّۢ And a shade مِّن of يَحْمُومٍۢ black smoke ٤٣ (43)

And a shade of black smoke,

56:44

لَّا Not بَارِدٍۢ cool وَلَا and not كَرِيمٍ pleasant ٤٤ (44)

Neither cool nor beneficial.

56:45

إِنَّهُمْ Indeed, they كَانُوا۟ were قَبْلَ before ذَٰلِكَ that مُتْرَفِينَ indulging in affluence ٤٥ (45)

Indeed they were, before that, indulging in affluence,

56:46

وَكَانُوا۟ And were يُصِرُّونَ persisting عَلَى in ٱلْحِنثِ the sin ٱلْعَظِيمِ the great ٤٦ (46)

And they used to persist in the great violation,

56:47

وَكَانُوا۟ And they used (to) يَقُولُونَ say أَئِذَا When مِتْنَا we die وَكُنَّا and become تُرَابًۭا dust وَعِظَـٰمًا and bones أَءِنَّا will we لَمَبْعُوثُونَ surely be resurrected ٤٧ (47)

And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

56:48

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا And also our fathers ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ former ٤٨ (48)

And our forefathers [as well]?"

56:49

قُلْ Say إِنَّ Indeed ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ the former وَٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَ and the later people ٤٩ (49)

Say, [O Muḥammad], "Indeed, the former and later peoples

56:50

لَمَجْمُوعُونَ Surely, will be gathered إِلَىٰ for مِيقَـٰتِ (the) appointment يَوْمٍۢ (of) a Day مَّعْلُومٍۢ well-known ٥٠ (50)

Are to be gathered together for the appointment of a known Day."

56:51

ثُمَّ Then إِنَّكُمْ indeed you أَيُّهَا O those astray ٱلضَّآلُّونَ O those astray ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ the deniers ٥١ (51)

Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers,

56:52

لَـَٔاكِلُونَ Will surely eat مِن from شَجَرٍۢ (the) tree مِّن of زَقُّومٍۢ Zaqqum ٥٢ (52)

Will be eating from trees of zaqqūm

56:53

فَمَالِـُٔونَ Then will fill مِنْهَا with it ٱلْبُطُونَ the bellies ٥٣ (53)

And filling with it your bellies

56:54

فَشَـٰرِبُونَ And drink عَلَيْهِ over it مِنَ [from] ٱلْحَمِيمِ the scalding water ٥٤ (54)

And drinking on top of it from scalding water.

56:55

فَشَـٰرِبُونَ And will drink شُرْبَ (as) drinking ٱلْهِيمِ (of) the thirsty camels ٥٥ (55)

And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels.

56:56

هَـٰذَا This نُزُلُهُمْ (is) their hospitality يَوْمَ (on the) Day ٱلدِّينِ (of) Judgment ٥٦ (56)

That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense.

56:57

نَحْنُ We خَلَقْنَـٰكُمْ [We] created you فَلَوْلَا so why (do) not تُصَدِّقُونَ you admit the truth ٥٧ (57)

We have created you, so why do you not believe?

56:58

أَفَرَءَيْتُم Do you see مَّا what تُمْنُونَ you emit ٥٨ (58)

Have you seen that which you emit?

56:59

ءَأَنتُمْ Is it you تَخْلُقُونَهُۥٓ who create it أَمْ or نَحْنُ (are) We ٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَ the Creators ٥٩ (59)

Is it you who creates it, or are We the Creator?

56:60

نَحْنُ We قَدَّرْنَا [We] have decreed بَيْنَكُمُ among you ٱلْمَوْتَ the death وَمَا and not نَحْنُ We بِمَسْبُوقِينَ (are) outrun ٦٠ (60)

We have decreed death among you, and We are not to be outdone

56:61

عَلَىٰٓ In أَن that نُّبَدِّلَ We (will) change أَمْثَـٰلَكُمْ your likeness[es] وَنُنشِئَكُمْ and produce you فِى in مَا what لَا not تَعْلَمُونَ you know ٦١ (61)

In that We will change your likenesses and produce you in that [form] which you do not know.

56:62

وَلَقَدْ And certainly عَلِمْتُمُ you know ٱلنَّشْأَةَ the creation ٱلْأُولَىٰ the first فَلَوْلَا so why not تَذَكَّرُونَ you take heed ٦٢ (62)

And you have already known the first creation, so will you not remember?

56:63

أَفَرَءَيْتُم And do you see مَّا what تَحْرُثُونَ you sow ٦٣ (63)

And have you seen that [seed] which you sow?

56:64

ءَأَنتُمْ Is it you (who) تَزْرَعُونَهُۥٓ cause it to grow أَمْ or نَحْنُ (are) We ٱلزَّٰرِعُونَ the Ones Who grow ٦٤ (64)

Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower?

56:65

لَوْ If نَشَآءُ We willed لَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ We (would) surely, make it حُطَـٰمًۭا debris فَظَلْتُمْ then you would remain تَفَكَّهُونَ wondering ٦٥ (65)

If We willed, We could make it [dry] debris, and you would remain in wonder,

56:66

إِنَّا Indeed, we لَمُغْرَمُونَ surely are laden with debt ٦٦ (66)

[Saying], "Indeed, we are [now] in debt;

56:67

بَلْ Nay نَحْنُ we مَحْرُومُونَ (are) deprived ٦٧ (67)

Rather, we have been deprived."

56:68

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ Do you see ٱلْمَآءَ the water ٱلَّذِى which تَشْرَبُونَ you drink ٦٨ (68)

And have you seen the water that you drink?

56:69

ءَأَنتُمْ Is it you أَنزَلْتُمُوهُ who send it down مِنَ from ٱلْمُزْنِ the rain clouds أَمْ or نَحْنُ We ٱلْمُنزِلُونَ (are) the Ones to send ٦٩ (69)

Is it you who brought it down from the clouds, or is it We who bring it down?

56:70

لَوْ If نَشَآءُ We willed جَعَلْنَـٰهُ We (could) make it أُجَاجًۭا salty فَلَوْلَا then why are you not grateful تَشْكُرُونَ then why are you not grateful ٧٠ (70)

If We willed, We could make it bitter, so why are you not grateful?

56:71

أَفَرَءَيْتُمُ Do you see ٱلنَّارَ the Fire ٱلَّتِى which تُورُونَ you ignite ٧١ (71)

And have you seen the fire that you ignite?

56:72

ءَأَنتُمْ Is it you أَنشَأْتُمْ who produced شَجَرَتَهَآ its tree أَمْ or نَحْنُ We ٱلْمُنشِـُٔونَ (are) the Producers ٧٢ (72)

Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer?

56:73

نَحْنُ We جَعَلْنَـٰهَا have made it تَذْكِرَةًۭ a reminder وَمَتَـٰعًۭا and a provision لِّلْمُقْوِينَ for the wayfarers in the desert ٧٣ (73)

We have made it a reminder and provision for the travelers,

56:74

فَسَبِّحْ So glorify بِٱسْمِ (the) name رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord ٱلْعَظِيمِ the Most Great ٧٤ (74)

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.

56:75

۞ فَلَآ But nay أُقْسِمُ I swear بِمَوَٰقِعِ by setting ٱلنُّجُومِ (of) the stars ٧٥ (75)

Then I swear by the setting of the stars,

56:76

وَإِنَّهُۥ And indeed, it لَقَسَمٌۭ (is) surely an oath لَّوْ if تَعْلَمُونَ you know عَظِيمٌ great ٧٦ (76)

And indeed, it is an oath - if you could know - [most] great.

56:77

إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, it لَقُرْءَانٌۭ (is) surely, a Quran كَرِيمٌۭ noble ٧٧ (77)

Indeed, it is a noble Qur’ān.

56:78

فِى In كِتَـٰبٍۢ a Book مَّكْنُونٍۢ well-guarded ٧٨ (78)

In a Register well-protected;.

56:79

لَّا None يَمَسُّهُۥٓ touch it إِلَّا except ٱلْمُطَهَّرُونَ the purified ٧٩ (79)

None touch it except the purified [i.e., the angels].

56:80

تَنزِيلٌۭ A Revelation مِّن from رَّبِّ (the) Lord ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ (of) the worlds ٨٠ (80)

[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.

56:81

أَفَبِهَـٰذَا Then is it to this ٱلْحَدِيثِ statement أَنتُم that you مُّدْهِنُونَ (are) indifferent ٨١ (81)

Then is it to this statement that you are indifferent

56:82

وَتَجْعَلُونَ And you make رِزْقَكُمْ your provision أَنَّكُمْ that you تُكَذِّبُونَ deny ٨٢ (82)

And make [the thanks for] your provision that you deny [the Provider]?

56:83

فَلَوْلَآ Then why not إِذَا when بَلَغَتِ it reaches ٱلْحُلْقُومَ the throat ٨٣ (83)

Then why, when it [i.e., the soul at death] reaches the throat

56:84

وَأَنتُمْ And you حِينَئِذٍۢ (at) that time تَنظُرُونَ look on ٨٤ (84)

And you are at that time looking on -

56:85

وَنَحْنُ And We أَقْرَبُ (are) nearer إِلَيْهِ to him مِنكُمْ than you وَلَـٰكِن but لَّا you (do) not see تُبْصِرُونَ you (do) not see ٨٥ (85)

And We [i.e., Our angels] are nearer to him than you, but you do not see -

56:86

فَلَوْلَآ Then why not إِن if كُنتُمْ you are غَيْرَ not مَدِينِينَ to be recompensed ٨٦ (86)

Then why do you not, if you are not to be recompensed,

56:87

تَرْجِعُونَهَآ Bring it back إِن if كُنتُمْ you are صَـٰدِقِينَ truthful ٨٧ (87)

Bring it back, if you should be truthful?

56:88

فَأَمَّآ Then إِن if كَانَ he was مِنَ of ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ those brought near ٨٨ (88)

And if he [i.e., the deceased] was of those brought near [to Allāh],

56:89

فَرَوْحٌۭ Then rest وَرَيْحَانٌۭ and bounty وَجَنَّتُ and a Garden نَعِيمٍۢ (of) Pleasure ٨٩ (89)

Then [for him is] rest and bounty and a garden of pleasure.

56:90

وَأَمَّآ And إِن if كَانَ he was مِنْ of أَصْحَـٰبِ (the) companions ٱلْيَمِينِ (of) the right ٩٠ (90)

And if he was of the companions of the right,

56:91

فَسَلَـٰمٌۭ Then, peace لَّكَ for you مِنْ [from] أَصْحَـٰبِ (the) companions ٱلْيَمِينِ (of) the right ٩١ (91)

Then [the angels will say], "Peace for you; [you are] from the companions of the right."

56:92

وَأَمَّآ But إِن if كَانَ he was مِنَ of ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ the deniers ٱلضَّآلِّينَ the astray ٩٢ (92)

But if he was of the deniers [who were] astray,

56:93

فَنُزُلٌۭ Then, hospitality مِّنْ of حَمِيمٍۢ (the) scalding water ٩٣ (93)

Then [for him is] accommodation of scalding water

56:94

وَتَصْلِيَةُ And burning جَحِيمٍ (in) Hellfire ٩٤ (94)

And burning in Hellfire.

56:95

إِنَّ Indeed هَـٰذَا this لَهُوَ surely, it حَقُّ (is the) truth ٱلْيَقِينِ certain ٩٥ (95)

Indeed, this is the true certainty,

56:96

فَسَبِّحْ So glorify بِٱسْمِ (the) name رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord ٱلْعَظِيمِ the Most Great ٩٦ (96)

So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
