الصافات

سورة الصافات (الصافات) هي السورة رقم ٣٧ في القرآن الكريم — وهي سورة مكية تتألف من ١٨٢ آية. السور المكية نزلت قبل هجرة النبي محمد ﷺ إلى المدينة، وتركّز غالبًا على الإيمان وتوحيد الله والآخرة.

بسملة
بِسْمِIn (the) namebis'miٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousl-raḥmāniٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmi
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
٣٧:١
وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِBy those linedwal-ṣāfātiصَفًّۭا(in) rowsṣaffan١
By those [angels] lined up in rows
٣٧:٢
فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِAnd those who drivefal-zājirātiزَجْرًۭاstronglyzajran٢
And those who drive [the clouds]
٣٧:٣
فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَـٰتِAnd those who recitefal-tāliyātiذِكْرًا(the) Messagedhik'ran٣
And those who recite the message,
٣٧:٤
إِنَّIndeedinnaإِلَـٰهَكُمْyour Lordilāhakumلَوَٰحِدٌۭ(is) surely Onelawāḥidun٤
Indeed, your God is One,
٣٧:٥
رَّبُّLordrabbuٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensl-samāwātiوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthwal-arḍiوَمَاand whatwamāبَيْنَهُمَا(is) between both of thembaynahumāوَرَبُّand Lordwarabbuٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ(of) each point of sunrisel-mashāriqi٥
Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises.
٣٧:٦
إِنَّاIndeed, Weinnāزَيَّنَّا[We] adornedzayyannāٱلسَّمَآءَthe skyl-samāaٱلدُّنْيَا[the world]l-dun'yāبِزِينَةٍwith an adornmentbizīnatinٱلْكَوَاكِبِ(of) the starsl-kawākibi٦
Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars
٣٧:٧
وَحِفْظًۭاAnd (to) guardwaḥif'ẓanمِّنagainstminكُلِّeverykulliشَيْطَـٰنٍۢdevilshayṭāninمَّارِدٍۢrebelliousmāridin٧
And as protection against every rebellious devil
٣٧:٨
لَّاNotيَسَّمَّعُونَthey may listenyassammaʿūnaإِلَىtoilāٱلْمَلَإِthe assemblyl-mala-iٱلْأَعْلَىٰ[the] exaltedl-aʿlāوَيُقْذَفُونَare peltedwayuq'dhafūnaمِنfromminكُلِّeverykulliجَانِبٍۢsidejānibin٨
[So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side,
٣٧:٩
دُحُورًۭا ۖRepelledduḥūranوَلَهُمْand for themwalahumعَذَابٌۭ(is) a punishmentʿadhābunوَاصِبٌperpetualwāṣibun٩
Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment,
٣٧:١٠
إِلَّاExceptillāمَنْ(him) whomanخَطِفَsnatcheskhaṭifaٱلْخَطْفَةَ(by) theftl-khaṭfataفَأَتْبَعَهُۥbut follows himfa-atbaʿahuشِهَابٌۭa burning flameshihābunثَاقِبٌۭpiercingthāqibun١٠
Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness].
٣٧:١١
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْThen ask themfa-is'taftihimأَهُمْAre theyahumأَشَدُّa strongerashadduخَلْقًاcreationkhalqanأَمoramمَّنْ(those) whommanخَلَقْنَآ ۚWe have createdkhalaqnāإِنَّاIndeed, Weinnāخَلَقْنَـٰهُمcreated themkhalaqnāhumمِّنfromminطِينٍۢa clayṭīninلَّازِبٍۭstickylāzibin١١
Then inquire of them, [O Muḥammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created them [i.e., men] from sticky clay.
٣٧:١٢
بَلْNaybalعَجِبْتَyou wonderʿajib'taوَيَسْخَرُونَwhile they mockwayaskharūna١٢
But you wonder, while they mock,
٣٧:١٣
وَإِذَاAnd whenwa-idhāذُكِّرُوا۟they are remindeddhukkirūلَاnotيَذْكُرُونَthey receive admonitionyadhkurūna١٣
And when they are reminded, they remember not.
٣٧:١٤
وَإِذَاAnd whenwa-idhāرَأَوْا۟they seera-awءَايَةًۭa Signāyatanيَسْتَسْخِرُونَthey mockyastaskhirūna١٤
And when they see a sign, they ridicule.
٣٧:١٥
وَقَالُوٓا۟And they saywaqālūإِنْNotinهَـٰذَآ(is) thishādhāإِلَّاexceptillāسِحْرٌۭa magicsiḥ'runمُّبِينٌclearmubīnun١٥
And say, "This is not but obvious magic.
٣٧:١٦
أَءِذَاIs it whena-idhāمِتْنَاwe are deadmit'nāوَكُنَّاand have becomewakunnāتُرَابًۭاdustturābanوَعِظَـٰمًاand boneswaʿiẓāmanأَءِنَّاshall we thena-innāلَمَبْعُوثُونَbe certainly resurrectedlamabʿūthūna١٦
When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
٣٧:١٧
أَوَءَابَآؤُنَاOr our fathersawaābāunāٱلْأَوَّلُونَformerl-awalūna١٧
And our forefathers [as well]?"
٣٧:١٨
قُلْSayqulنَعَمْYesnaʿamوَأَنتُمْand youwa-antumدَٰخِرُونَ(will be) humiliateddākhirūna١٨
Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible."
٣٧:١٩
فَإِنَّمَاThen onlyfa-innamāهِىَithiyaزَجْرَةٌۭ(will be) a cryzajratunوَٰحِدَةٌۭsinglewāḥidatunفَإِذَاthen, beholdfa-idhāهُمْTheyhumيَنظُرُونَwill seeyanẓurūna١٩
It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing.
٣٧:٢٠
وَقَالُوا۟And they will saywaqālūيَـٰوَيْلَنَاO woe to usyāwaylanāهَـٰذَاThishādhāيَوْمُ(is the) Dayyawmuٱلدِّينِ(of) the Recompensel-dīni٢٠
They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense."
٣٧:٢١
هَـٰذَاThishādhāيَوْمُ(is the) Dayyawmuٱلْفَصْلِ(of) Judgmentl-faṣliٱلَّذِىwhichalladhīكُنتُمyou used tokuntumبِهِۦ[of it]bihiتُكَذِّبُونَdenytukadhibūna٢١
[They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny."
٣٧:٢٢
۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟Gatheruḥ'shurūٱلَّذِينَthose whoalladhīnaظَلَمُوا۟wrongedẓalamūوَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْand their kindswa-azwājahumوَمَاand whatwamāكَانُوا۟they used (to)kānūيَعْبُدُونَworshipyaʿbudūna٢٢
[The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship
٣٧:٢٣
مِنBesidesminدُونِBesidesdūniٱللَّهِAllahl-lahiفَٱهْدُوهُمْthen lead themfa-ih'dūhumإِلَىٰtoilāصِرَٰطِ(the) Pathṣirāṭiٱلْجَحِيمِ(of) the Hellfirel-jaḥīmi٢٣
Other than Allāh, and guide them to the path of Hellfire
٣٧:٢٤
وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖAnd stop themwaqifūhumإِنَّهُمindeed, theyinnahumمَّسْـُٔولُونَ(are) to be questionedmasūlūna٢٤
And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned."
٣٧:٢٥
مَاWhatلَكُمْ(is) for youlakumلَا(Why) notتَنَاصَرُونَyou help one anothertanāṣarūna٢٥
[They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?"
٣٧:٢٦
بَلْNaybalهُمُtheyhumuٱلْيَوْمَ(on) that Dayl-yawmaمُسْتَسْلِمُونَ(will) surrendermus'taslimūna٢٦
But they, that Day, are in surrender.
٣٧:٢٧
وَأَقْبَلَAnd will approachwa-aqbalaبَعْضُهُمْsome of thembaʿḍuhumعَلَىٰtoʿalāبَعْضٍۢothersbaʿḍinيَتَسَآءَلُونَquestioning one anotheryatasāalūna٢٧
And they will approach one another asking [i.e., blaming] each other.
٣٧:٢٨
قَالُوٓا۟They will sayqālūإِنَّكُمْIndeed, youinnakumكُنتُمْ[you] used (to)kuntumتَأْتُونَنَاcome (to) ustatūnanāعَنِfromʿaniٱلْيَمِينِthe rightl-yamīni٢٨
They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right."1
٣٧:٢٩
قَالُوا۟They will sayqālūبَلNaybalلَّمْnotlamتَكُونُوا۟you weretakūnūمُؤْمِنِينَbelieversmu'minīna٢٩
They [i.e., the oppressors] will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers,
٣٧:٣٠
وَمَاAnd notwamāكَانَwaskānaلَنَاfor uslanāعَلَيْكُمover youʿalaykumمِّنanyminسُلْطَـٰنٍۭ ۖauthoritysul'ṭāninبَلْNaybalكُنتُمْyou werekuntumقَوْمًۭاa peopleqawmanطَـٰغِينَtransgressingṭāghīna٣٠
And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people.
٣٧:٣١
فَحَقَّSo has been proved truefaḥaqqaعَلَيْنَاagainst usʿalaynāقَوْلُ(the) Wordqawluرَبِّنَآ ۖ(of) our Lordrabbināإِنَّاindeed, weinnāلَذَآئِقُونَ(will) certainly tasteladhāiqūna٣١
So the word [i.e., decree] of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment].
٣٧:٣٢
فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْSo we led you astrayfa-aghwaynākumإِنَّاindeed, weinnāكُنَّاwerekunnāغَـٰوِينَastrayghāwīna٣٢
And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators."
٣٧:٣٣
فَإِنَّهُمْThen indeed, theyfa-innahumيَوْمَئِذٍۢthat Dayyawma-idhinفِىinٱلْعَذَابِthe punishmentl-ʿadhābiمُشْتَرِكُونَ(will be) sharersmush'tarikūna٣٣
So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment.
٣٧:٣٤
إِنَّاIndeed, WeinnāكَذَٰلِكَthuskadhālikaنَفْعَلُWe dealnafʿaluبِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَwith the criminalsbil-muj'rimīna٣٤
Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals.
٣٧:٣٥
إِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyinnahumكَانُوٓا۟werekānūإِذَاwhenidhāقِيلَit was saidqīlaلَهُمْto themlahumلَآ(There is) noإِلَـٰهَgodilāhaإِلَّاexceptillāٱللَّهُAllahl-lahuيَسْتَكْبِرُونَwere arrogantyastakbirūna٣٥
Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allāh," were arrogant
٣٧:٣٦
وَيَقُولُونَAnd they saywayaqūlūnaأَئِنَّاAre wea-innāلَتَارِكُوٓا۟to leavelatārikūءَالِهَتِنَاour godsālihatināلِشَاعِرٍۢfor a poetlishāʿirinمَّجْنُونٍۭmadmajnūnin٣٦
And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?"
٣٧:٣٧
بَلْNaybalجَآءَhe has broughtjāaبِٱلْحَقِّthe truthbil-ḥaqiوَصَدَّقَand confirmedwaṣaddaqaٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengersl-mur'salīna٣٧
Rather, he [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)] has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers.
٣٧:٣٨
إِنَّكُمْIndeed, youinnakumلَذَآئِقُوا۟(will) surely tasteladhāiqūٱلْعَذَابِthe punishmentl-ʿadhābiٱلْأَلِيمِpainfull-alīmi٣٨
Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment,
٣٧:٣٩
وَمَاAnd notwamāتُجْزَوْنَyou will be recompensedtuj'zawnaإِلَّاexceptillāمَاwhatكُنتُمْyou used tokuntumتَعْمَلُونَdotaʿmalūna٣٩
And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do -
٣٧:٤٠
إِلَّاExceptillāعِبَادَ(the) slavesʿibādaٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe chosen onesl-mukh'laṣīna٤٠
But not the chosen servants of Allāh.
٣٧:٤١
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَThoseulāikaلَهُمْfor themlahumرِزْقٌۭ(will be) a provisionriz'qunمَّعْلُومٌۭdeterminedmaʿlūmun٤١
Those will have a provision determined -
٣٧:٤٢
فَوَٰكِهُ ۖFruitsfawākihuوَهُمand theywahumمُّكْرَمُونَ(will) be honoredmuk'ramūna٤٢
Fruits; and they will be honored
٣٧:٤٣
فِىInجَنَّـٰتِGardensjannātiٱلنَّعِيمِ(of) Delightl-naʿīmi٤٣
In gardens of pleasure
٣٧:٤٤
عَلَىٰOnʿalāسُرُرٍۢthronessururinمُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَfacing each othermutaqābilīna٤٤
On thrones facing one another.
٣٧:٤٥
يُطَافُWill be circulatedyuṭāfuعَلَيْهِمamong themʿalayhimبِكَأْسٍۢa cupbikasinمِّنfromminمَّعِينٍۭa flowing springmaʿīnin٤٥
There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring,
٣٧:٤٦
بَيْضَآءَWhitebayḍāaلَذَّةٍۢdeliciousladhatinلِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَfor the drinkerslilshāribīna٤٦
White and delicious to the drinkers;
٣٧:٤٧
لَاNotفِيهَاin itfīhāغَوْلٌۭ(is) bad effectghawlunوَلَاand notwalāهُمْtheyhumعَنْهَاfrom itʿanhāيُنزَفُونَwill be intoxicatedyunzafūna٤٧
No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated.
٣٧:٤٨
وَعِندَهُمْAnd with themwaʿindahumقَـٰصِرَٰتُ(will be) companions of modest gazeqāṣirātuٱلطَّرْفِ(will be) companions of modest gazel-ṭarfiعِينٌۭ(having) beautiful eyesʿīnun٤٨
And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes,
٣٧:٤٩
كَأَنَّهُنَّAs if they wereka-annahunnaبَيْضٌۭeggsbayḍunمَّكْنُونٌۭwell protectedmaknūnun٤٩
As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected.
٣٧:٥٠
فَأَقْبَلَAnd (will) approachfa-aqbalaبَعْضُهُمْsome of thembaʿḍuhumعَلَىٰtoʿalāبَعْضٍۢothersbaʿḍinيَتَسَآءَلُونَquestioning one anotheryatasāalūna٥٠
And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.
٣٧:٥١
قَالَWill sayqālaقَآئِلٌۭa speakerqāilunمِّنْهُمْamong themmin'humإِنِّىIndeed, Iinnīكَانَhadkānaلِىfor meقَرِينٌۭa companionqarīnun٥١
A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth].
٣٧:٥٢
يَقُولُWho (would) sayyaqūluأَءِنَّكَAre you indeeda-innakaلَمِنَsurely oflaminaٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَthose who believel-muṣadiqīna٥٢
Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe
٣٧:٥٣
أَءِذَاIs (it) whena-idhāمِتْنَاwe have diedmit'nāوَكُنَّاand becomewakunnāتُرَابًۭاdustturābanوَعِظَـٰمًاand boneswaʿiẓāmanأَءِنَّاwill wea-innāلَمَدِينُونَsurely be brought to Judgmentlamadīnūna٥٣
That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'"
٣٧:٥٤
قَالَHe (will) sayqālaهَلْWillhalأَنتُمyouantumمُّطَّلِعُونَbe lookingmuṭṭaliʿūna٥٤
He will say, "Would you [care to] look?"
٣٧:٥٥
فَٱطَّلَعَThen he (will) lookfa-iṭṭalaʿaفَرَءَاهُand see himfaraāhuفِىinسَوَآءِ(the) midstsawāiٱلْجَحِيمِ(of) the Hellfirel-jaḥīmi٥٥
And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire.
٣٧:٥٦
قَالَHe (will) sayqālaتَٱللَّهِBy Allahtal-lahiإِنverilyinكِدتَّyou almostkidttaلَتُرْدِينِruined melatur'dīni٥٦
He will say, "By Allāh, you almost ruined me.
٣٧:٥٧
وَلَوْلَاAnd if notwalawlāنِعْمَةُ(for the) Graceniʿ'matuرَبِّى(of) my Lordrabbīلَكُنتُcertainly, I (would) have beenlakuntuمِنَamongminaٱلْمُحْضَرِينَthose broughtl-muḥ'ḍarīna٥٧
If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell].
٣٧:٥٨
أَفَمَاThen are notafamāنَحْنُwenaḥnuبِمَيِّتِينَ(to) diebimayyitīna٥٨
Then, are we not to die
٣٧:٥٩
إِلَّاExceptillāمَوْتَتَنَاour deathmawtatanāٱلْأُولَىٰthe firstl-ūlāوَمَاand notwamāنَحْنُwenaḥnuبِمُعَذَّبِينَwill be punishedbimuʿadhabīna٥٩
Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?"
٣٧:٦٠
إِنَّIndeedinnaهَـٰذَاthishādhāلَهُوَsurelylahuwaٱلْفَوْزُ(is) the attainmentl-fawzuٱلْعَظِيمُgreatl-ʿaẓīmu٦٠
Indeed, this is the great attainment.
٣٧:٦١
لِمِثْلِFor (the) likelimith'liهَـٰذَا(of) thishādhāفَلْيَعْمَلِlet workfalyaʿmaliٱلْعَـٰمِلُونَthe workersl-ʿāmilūna٦١
For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.
٣٧:٦٢
أَذَٰلِكَIs thatadhālikaخَيْرٌۭbetterkhayrunنُّزُلًا(as) hospitalitynuzulanأَمْoramشَجَرَةُ(the) treeshajaratuٱلزَّقُّومِ(of) Zaqquml-zaqūmi٦٢
Is that [i.e., Paradise] a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqūm?
٣٧:٦٣
إِنَّاIndeed, Weinnāجَعَلْنَـٰهَا[We] have made itjaʿalnāhāفِتْنَةًۭa trialfit'natanلِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَfor the wrongdoerslilẓẓālimīna٦٣
Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers.
٣٧:٦٤
إِنَّهَاIndeed, itinnahāشَجَرَةٌۭ(is) a treeshajaratunتَخْرُجُthat growstakhrujuفِىٓinأَصْلِ(the) bottomaṣliٱلْجَحِيمِ(of) the Hellfirel-jaḥīmi٦٤
Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,
٣٧:٦٥
طَلْعُهَاIts emerging fruitṭalʿuhāكَأَنَّهُۥ(is) as if itka-annahuرُءُوسُ(was) headsruūsuٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ(of) the devilsl-shayāṭīni٦٥
Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.
٣٧:٦٦
فَإِنَّهُمْAnd indeed, theyfa-innahumلَـَٔاكِلُونَ(will) surely eatlaākilūnaمِنْهَاfrom itmin'hāفَمَالِـُٔونَand fillfamāliūnaمِنْهَاwith itmin'hāٱلْبُطُونَ(their) belliesl-buṭūna٦٦
And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.
٣٧:٦٧
ثُمَّThenthummaإِنَّindeedinnaلَهُمْfor themlahumعَلَيْهَاin itʿalayhāلَشَوْبًۭا(is) a mixturelashawbanمِّنْofminحَمِيمٍۢboiling waterḥamīmin٦٧
Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water.
٣٧:٦٨
ثُمَّThenthummaإِنَّindeedinnaمَرْجِعَهُمْtheir returnmarjiʿahumلَإِلَى(will) surely be tola-ilāٱلْجَحِيمِthe Hellfirel-jaḥīmi٦٨
Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.
٣٧:٦٩
إِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyinnahumأَلْفَوْا۟foundalfawءَابَآءَهُمْtheir fathersābāahumضَآلِّينَastrayḍāllīna٦٩
Indeed they found their fathers astray.
٣٧:٧٠
فَهُمْSo theyfahumعَلَىٰٓonʿalāءَاثَـٰرِهِمْtheir footstepsāthārihimيُهْرَعُونَthey hastenedyuh'raʿūna٧٠
So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps.
٣٧:٧١
وَلَقَدْAnd verilywalaqadضَلَّwent astrayḍallaقَبْلَهُمْbefore themqablahumأَكْثَرُmostaktharuٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) the former (people)l-awalīna٧١
And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,
٣٧:٧٢
وَلَقَدْAnd verilywalaqadأَرْسَلْنَاWe sentarsalnāفِيهِمamong themfīhimمُّنذِرِينَwarnersmundhirīna٧٢
And We had already sent among them warners.
٣٧:٧٣
فَٱنظُرْThen seefa-unẓurكَيْفَhowkayfaكَانَwaskānaعَـٰقِبَةُ(the) endʿāqibatuٱلْمُنذَرِينَ(of) those who were warnedl-mundharīna٧٣
Then look how was the end of those who were warned -
٣٧:٧٤
إِلَّاExceptillāعِبَادَ(the) slavesʿibādaٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe chosen onesl-mukh'laṣīna٧٤
But not the chosen servants of Allāh.
٣٧:٧٥
وَلَقَدْAnd verilywalaqadنَادَىٰنَاcalled UsnādānāنُوحٌۭNuhnūḥunفَلَنِعْمَand Bestfalaniʿ'maٱلْمُجِيبُونَ(are We as) Respondersl-mujībūna٧٥
And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders.
٣٧:٧٦
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُAnd We saved himwanajjaynāhuوَأَهْلَهُۥand his familywa-ahlahuمِنَfromminaٱلْكَرْبِthe distressl-karbiٱلْعَظِيمِthe greatl-ʿaẓīmi٧٦
And We saved him and his family from the great affliction.
٣٧:٧٧
وَجَعَلْنَاAnd We madewajaʿalnāذُرِّيَّتَهُۥhis offspringdhurriyyatahuهُمُ[they]humuٱلْبَاقِينَthe survivorsl-bāqīna٧٧
And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]
٣٧:٧٨
وَتَرَكْنَاAnd We leftwataraknāعَلَيْهِfor himʿalayhiفِىamongٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَthe later generationsl-ākhirīna٧٨
And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
٣٧:٧٩
سَلَـٰمٌPeace besalāmunعَلَىٰuponʿalāنُوحٍۢNuhnūḥinفِىamongٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَthe worldsl-ʿālamīna٧٩
"Peace upon Noah among the worlds."
٣٧:٨٠
إِنَّاIndeed, Weinnāكَذَٰلِكَthuskadhālikaنَجْزِى[We] rewardnajzīٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doersl-muḥ'sinīna٨٠
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
٣٧:٨١
إِنَّهُۥIndeed, heinnahuمِنْ(was) ofminعِبَادِنَاOur slavesʿibādināٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbelievingl-mu'minīna٨١
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
٣٧:٨٢
ثُمَّThenthummaأَغْرَقْنَاWe drownedaghraqnāٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَthe othersl-ākharīna٨٢
Then We drowned the others [i.e., disbelievers].
٣٧:٨٣
۞ وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaمِنamongminشِيعَتِهِۦhis kindshīʿatihiلَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ(was) surely Ibrahimla-ib'rāhīma٨٣
And indeed, among his kind was Abraham,
٣٧:٨٤
إِذْWhenidhجَآءَhe camejāaرَبَّهُۥ(to) his Lordrabbahuبِقَلْبٍۢwith a heartbiqalbinسَلِيمٍsoundsalīmin٨٤
When he came to his Lord with a sound heart
٣٧:٨٥
إِذْWhenidhقَالَhe saidqālaلِأَبِيهِto his fatherli-abīhiوَقَوْمِهِۦand his peoplewaqawmihiمَاذَاWhat is itmādhāتَعْبُدُونَyou worshiptaʿbudūna٨٥
[And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?
٣٧:٨٦
أَئِفْكًاIs it falsehood a-if'kanءَالِهَةًۭgodsālihatanدُونَother thandūnaٱللَّهِAllah l-lahiتُرِيدُونَ(that) you desireturīdūna٨٦
Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allāh you desire?
٣٧:٨٧
فَمَاThen whatfamāظَنُّكُم(do) you thinkẓannukumبِرَبِّabout (the) Lordbirabbiٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna٨٧
Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?"
٣٧:٨٨
فَنَظَرَThen he glancedfanaẓaraنَظْرَةًۭa glancenaẓratanفِىatٱلنُّجُومِthe starsl-nujūmi٨٨
And he cast a look at the stars.
٣٧:٨٩
فَقَالَAnd he saidfaqālaإِنِّىIndeed, I aminnīسَقِيمٌۭsicksaqīmun٨٩
And said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill."
٣٧:٩٠
فَتَوَلَّوْا۟So they turned awayfatawallawعَنْهُfrom himʿanhuمُدْبِرِينَdepartingmud'birīna٩٠
So they turned away from him, departing.
٣٧:٩١
فَرَاغَThen he turnedfarāghaإِلَىٰٓtoilāءَالِهَتِهِمْtheir godsālihatihimفَقَالَand saidfaqālaأَلَاDo notalāتَأْكُلُونَyou eattakulūna٩١
Then he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat?
٣٧:٩٢
مَاWhat (is)لَكُمْfor youlakumلَاnotتَنطِقُونَyou speaktanṭiqūna٩٢
What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak?".
٣٧:٩٣
فَرَاغَThen he turnedfarāghaعَلَيْهِمْupon themʿalayhimضَرْبًۢاstrikingḍarbanبِٱلْيَمِينِwith the right handbil-yamīni٩٣
And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand.
٣٧:٩٤
فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟Then they advancedfa-aqbalūإِلَيْهِtowards himilayhiيَزِفُّونَhasteningyaziffūna٩٤
Then they [i.e., the people] came toward him, hastening.
٣٧:٩٥
قَالَHe saidqālaأَتَعْبُدُونَDo you worshipataʿbudūnaمَاwhatتَنْحِتُونَyou carvetanḥitūna٩٥
He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve,
٣٧:٩٦
وَٱللَّهُWhile Allahwal-lahuخَلَقَكُمْcreated youkhalaqakumوَمَاand whatwamāتَعْمَلُونَyou maketaʿmalūna٩٦
While Allāh created you and that which you do?"
٣٧:٩٧
قَالُوا۟They saidqālūٱبْنُوا۟Buildib'nūلَهُۥfor himlahuبُنْيَـٰنًۭاa structurebun'yānanفَأَلْقُوهُand throw himfa-alqūhuفِىintoٱلْجَحِيمِthe blazing Firel-jaḥīmi٩٧
They said, "Construct for him a structure [i.e., furnace] and throw him into the burning fire."
٣٧:٩٨
فَأَرَادُوا۟And they intendedfa-arādūبِهِۦfor himbihiكَيْدًۭاa plotkaydanفَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُbut We made themfajaʿalnāhumuٱلْأَسْفَلِينَthe lowestl-asfalīna٩٨
And they intended for him a plan [i.e., harm], but We made them the most debased.
٣٧:٩٩
وَقَالَAnd he saidwaqālaإِنِّىIndeed, I aminnīذَاهِبٌgoingdhāhibunإِلَىٰtoilāرَبِّىmy LordrabbīسَيَهْدِينِHe will guide mesayahdīni٩٩
And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me.
٣٧:١٠٠
رَبِّMy Lordrabbiهَبْgranthabلِىmeمِنَofminaٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَthe righteousl-ṣāliḥīna١٠٠
My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous."
٣٧:١٠١
فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُSo We gave him the glad tidingsfabasharnāhuبِغُلَـٰمٍof a boybighulāminحَلِيمٍۢforbearingḥalīmin١٠١
So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy.
٣٧:١٠٢
فَلَمَّاThen whenfalammāبَلَغَhe reachedbalaghaمَعَهُthe (age of) working with himmaʿahuٱلسَّعْىَthe (age of) working with himl-saʿyaقَالَhe saidqālaيَـٰبُنَىَّO my sonyābunayyaإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iinnīأَرَىٰhave seenarāفِىinٱلْمَنَامِthe dreaml-manāmiأَنِّىٓthat I amannīأَذْبَحُكَsacrificing youadhbaḥukaفَٱنظُرْso lookfa-unẓurمَاذَاwhatmādhāتَرَىٰ ۚyou seetarāقَالَHe saidqālaيَـٰٓأَبَتِO my fatheryāabatiٱفْعَلْDoif'ʿalمَاwhatتُؤْمَرُ ۖyou are commandedtu'maruسَتَجِدُنِىٓYou will find mesatajidunīإِنifinشَآءَAllah willsshāaٱللَّهُAllah willsl-lahuمِنَofminaٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَthe patient onesl-ṣābirīna١٠٢
And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allāh wills, of the steadfast."
٣٧:١٠٣
فَلَمَّآThen whenfalammāأَسْلَمَاboth of them had submittedaslamāوَتَلَّهُۥand he put him downwatallahuلِلْجَبِينِupon his foreheadlil'jabīni١٠٣
And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,
٣٧:١٠٤
وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُAnd We called out to himwanādaynāhuأَنthatanيَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُO Ibrahimyāib'rāhīmu١٠٤
We called to him, "O Abraham,
٣٧:١٠٥
قَدْVerilyqadصَدَّقْتَyou have fulfilledṣaddaqtaٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚthe visionl-ru'yāإِنَّاIndeed, Weinnāكَذَٰلِكَthuskadhālikaنَجْزِى[We] rewardnajzīٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doersl-muḥ'sinīna١٠٥
You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
٣٧:١٠٦
إِنَّIndeedinnaهَـٰذَاthishādhāلَهُوَ(was) surely [it]lahuwaٱلْبَلَـٰٓؤُا۟the triall-balāuٱلْمُبِينُclearl-mubīnu١٠٦
Indeed, this was the clear trial.
٣٧:١٠٧
وَفَدَيْنَـٰهُAnd We ransomed himwafadaynāhuبِذِبْحٍwith a sacrificebidhib'ḥinعَظِيمٍۢgreatʿaẓīmin١٠٧
And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,
٣٧:١٠٨
وَتَرَكْنَاAnd We leftwataraknāعَلَيْهِfor himʿalayhiفِىamongٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَthe later generationsl-ākhirīna١٠٨
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
٣٧:١٠٩
سَلَـٰمٌPeace besalāmunعَلَىٰٓonʿalāإِبْرَٰهِيمَIbrahimib'rāhīma١٠٩
"Peace upon Abraham."
٣٧:١١٠
كَذَٰلِكَThuskadhālikaنَجْزِىWe rewardnajzīٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doersl-muḥ'sinīna١١٠
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
٣٧:١١١
إِنَّهُۥIndeed, he (was)innahuمِنْofminعِبَادِنَاOur slavesʿibādināٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbelievingl-mu'minīna١١١
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
٣٧:١١٢
وَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُAnd We gave him glad tidingswabasharnāhuبِإِسْحَـٰقَof Isaacbi-is'ḥāqaنَبِيًّۭاa Prophetnabiyyanمِّنَamongminaٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَthe righteousl-ṣāliḥīna١١٢
And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous.
٣٧:١١٣
وَبَـٰرَكْنَاAnd We blessedwabāraknāعَلَيْهِhimʿalayhiوَعَلَىٰٓand [on]waʿalāإِسْحَـٰقَ ۚIsaacis'ḥāqaوَمِنAnd ofwaminذُرِّيَّتِهِمَاtheir offspringdhurriyyatihimāمُحْسِنٌۭ(are) good-doersmuḥ'sinunوَظَالِمٌۭand unjustwaẓālimunلِّنَفْسِهِۦto himselflinafsihiمُبِينٌۭclearmubīnun١١٣
And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself [i.e., sinner].
٣٧:١١٤
وَلَقَدْAnd verilywalaqadمَنَنَّاWe conferred FavormanannāعَلَىٰuponʿalāمُوسَىٰMusamūsāوَهَـٰرُونَand Harunwahārūna١١٤
And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron.
٣٧:١١٥
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمَاAnd We saved both of themwanajjaynāhumāوَقَوْمَهُمَاand their peoplewaqawmahumāمِنَfromminaٱلْكَرْبِthe distressl-karbiٱلْعَظِيمِthe greatl-ʿaẓīmi١١٥
And We saved them and their people from the great affliction,
٣٧:١١٦
وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُمْAnd We helped themwanaṣarnāhumفَكَانُوا۟so they becamefakānūهُمُso they becamehumuٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَthe victorsl-ghālibīna١١٦
And We supported them so it was they who overcame.
٣٧:١١٧
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمَاAnd We gave both of themwaātaynāhumāٱلْكِتَـٰبَthe Bookl-kitābaٱلْمُسْتَبِينَthe clearl-mus'tabīna١١٧
And We gave them the explicit Scripture [i.e., the Torah],
٣٧:١١٨
وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمَاAnd We guided both of themwahadaynāhumāٱلصِّرَٰطَ(to) the Pathl-ṣirāṭaٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَthe Straightl-mus'taqīma١١٨
And We guided them on the straight path.
٣٧:١١٩
وَتَرَكْنَاAnd We leftwataraknāعَلَيْهِمَاfor both of themʿalayhimāفِىamongٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَthe later generationsl-ākhirīna١١٩
And We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations:
٣٧:١٢٠
سَلَـٰمٌPeace besalāmunعَلَىٰuponʿalāمُوسَىٰMusamūsāوَهَـٰرُونَand Harunwahārūna١٢٠
"Peace upon Moses and Aaron."
٣٧:١٢١
إِنَّاIndeed, Weinnāكَذَٰلِكَthuskadhālikaنَجْزِىrewardnajzīٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doersl-muḥ'sinīna١٢١
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
٣٧:١٢٢
إِنَّهُمَاIndeed, both of theminnahumāمِنْ(were) ofminعِبَادِنَاOur slavesʿibādināٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbelievingl-mu'minīna١٢٢
Indeed, they were of Our believing servants.
٣٧:١٢٣
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaإِلْيَاسَElijahil'yāsaلَمِنَ(was) surely oflaminaٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengersl-mur'salīna١٢٣
And indeed, Elias was from among the messengers,
٣٧:١٢٤
إِذْWhenidhقَالَhe saidqālaلِقَوْمِهِۦٓto his peopleliqawmihiأَلَاWill notalāتَتَّقُونَyou feartattaqūna١٢٤
When he said to his people, "Will you not fear Allāh?
٣٧:١٢٥
أَتَدْعُونَDo you callatadʿūnaبَعْلًۭاBaalbaʿlanوَتَذَرُونَand you forsakewatadharūnaأَحْسَنَ(the) Bestaḥsanaٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ(of) Creators l-khāliqīna١٢٥
Do you call upon Baʿl and leave the best of creators -
٣٧:١٢٦
ٱللَّهَAllahal-lahaرَبَّكُمْyour Lordrabbakumوَرَبَّand (the) Lordwarabbaءَابَآئِكُمُ(of) your forefathersābāikumuٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) your forefathersl-awalīna١٢٦
Allāh, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?"
٣٧:١٢٧
فَكَذَّبُوهُBut they denied himfakadhabūhuفَإِنَّهُمْso indeed, theyfa-innahumلَمُحْضَرُونَ(will) surely be broughtlamuḥ'ḍarūna١٢٧
And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment],
٣٧:١٢٨
إِلَّاExceptillāعِبَادَ(the) slavesʿibādaٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe chosen onesl-mukh'laṣīna١٢٨
Except the chosen servants of Allāh.
٣٧:١٢٩
وَتَرَكْنَاAnd We leftwataraknāعَلَيْهِfor himʿalayhiفِىamongٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَthe later generationsl-ākhirīna١٢٩
And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:
٣٧:١٣٠
سَلَـٰمٌPeace besalāmunعَلَىٰٓuponʿalāإِلْ يَاسِينَElijahil yāsīna١٣٠
"Peace upon Elias."1
٣٧:١٣١
إِنَّاIndeed, Weinnāكَذَٰلِكَthuskadhālikaنَجْزِىrewardnajzīٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doersl-muḥ'sinīna١٣١
Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.
٣٧:١٣٢
إِنَّهُۥIndeed, he (was)innahuمِنْofminعِبَادِنَاOur slavesʿibādināٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbelievingl-mu'minīna١٣٢
Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.
٣٧:١٣٣
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaلُوطًۭاLutlūṭanلَّمِنَ(was) oflaminaٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengersl-mur'salīna١٣٣
And indeed, Lot was among the messengers.
٣٧:١٣٤
إِذْWhenidhنَجَّيْنَـٰهُWe saved himnajjaynāhuوَأَهْلَهُۥٓand his familywa-ahlahuأَجْمَعِينَallajmaʿīna١٣٤
[So mention] when We saved him and his family, all,
٣٧:١٣٥
إِلَّاExceptillāعَجُوزًۭاan old womanʿajūzanفِى(was) amongٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَthose who remained behindl-ghābirīna١٣٥
Except an old woman [i.e., his wife] among those who remained [with the evildoers].
٣٧:١٣٦
ثُمَّThenthummaدَمَّرْنَاWe destroyeddammarnāٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَthe othersl-ākharīna١٣٦
Then We destroyed the others.
٣٧:١٣٧
وَإِنَّكُمْAnd indeed, youwa-innakumلَتَمُرُّونَsurely passlatamurrūnaعَلَيْهِمby themʿalayhimمُّصْبِحِينَ(in the) morningmuṣ'biḥīna١٣٧
And indeed, you pass by them in the morning
٣٧:١٣٨
وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗAnd at nightwabi-al-layliأَفَلَاThen will notafalāتَعْقِلُونَyou use reasontaʿqilūna١٣٨
And at night. Then will you not use reason?
٣٧:١٣٩
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaيُونُسَYunusyūnusaلَمِنَ(was) surely oflaminaٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengersl-mur'salīna١٣٩
And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers.
٣٧:١٤٠
إِذْWhenidhأَبَقَhe ran awayabaqaإِلَىtoilāٱلْفُلْكِthe shipl-ful'kiٱلْمَشْحُونِladenl-mashḥūni١٤٠
[Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship.
٣٧:١٤١
فَسَاهَمَThen he drew lotsfasāhamaفَكَانَand wasfakānaمِنَofminaٱلْمُدْحَضِينَthe losersl-mud'ḥaḍīna١٤١
And he drew lots and was among the losers.
٣٧:١٤٢
فَٱلْتَقَمَهُThen swallowed himfal-taqamahuٱلْحُوتُthe fishl-ḥūtuوَهُوَwhile hewahuwaمُلِيمٌۭ(was) blameworthymulīmun١٤٢
Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy.
٣٧:١٤٣
فَلَوْلَآAnd if notfalawlāأَنَّهُۥthat heannahuكَانَwaskānaمِنَofminaٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَthose who glorifyl-musabiḥīna١٤٣
And had he not been of those who exalt Allāh,
٣٧:١٤٤
لَلَبِثَCertainly, he (would have) remainedlalabithaفِىinبَطْنِهِۦٓits bellybaṭnihiإِلَىٰuntililāيَوْمِthe Dayyawmiيُبْعَثُونَthey are resurrectedyub'ʿathūna١٤٤
He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected.
٣٧:١٤٥
۞ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُBut We cast himfanabadhnāhuبِٱلْعَرَآءِonto the open shorebil-ʿarāiوَهُوَwhile hewahuwaسَقِيمٌۭ(was) illsaqīmun١٤٥
But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill.
٣٧:١٤٦
وَأَنۢبَتْنَاAnd We caused to growwa-anbatnāعَلَيْهِover himʿalayhiشَجَرَةًۭa plantshajaratanمِّنofminيَقْطِينٍۢgourdyaqṭīnin١٤٦
And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine.
٣٧:١٤٧
وَأَرْسَلْنَـٰهُAnd We sent himwa-arsalnāhuإِلَىٰtoilāمِا۟ئَةِa hundredmi-atiأَلْفٍthousandalfinأَوْorawيَزِيدُونَmoreyazīdūna١٤٧
And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more.
٣٧:١٤٨
فَـَٔامَنُوا۟And they believedfaāmanūفَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْso We gave them enjoymentfamattaʿnāhumإِلَىٰforilāحِينٍۢa whileḥīnin١٤٨
And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time.
٣٧:١٤٩
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْThen ask themfa-is'taftihimأَلِرَبِّكَDoes your Lordalirabbikaٱلْبَنَاتُ(have) daughtersl-banātuوَلَهُمُwhile for themwalahumuٱلْبَنُونَ(are) sonsl-banūna١٤٩
So inquire of them, [O Muḥammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons?
٣٧:١٥٠
أَمْOramخَلَقْنَاdid We createkhalaqnāٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَthe Angelsl-malāikataإِنَـٰثًۭاfemalesināthanوَهُمْwhile theywahumشَـٰهِدُونَ(were) witnessesshāhidūna١٥٠
Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?"
٣٧:١٥١
أَلَآNo doubtalāإِنَّهُمindeed, theyinnahumمِّنْofminإِفْكِهِمْtheir falsehoodif'kihimلَيَقُولُونَ[they] saylayaqūlūna١٥١
Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say,
٣٧:١٥٢
وَلَدَAllah has begottenwaladaٱللَّهُAllah has begottenl-lahuوَإِنَّهُمْand indeed, theywa-innahumلَكَـٰذِبُونَsurely (are) liarslakādhibūna١٥٢
"Allāh has begotten," and indeed, they are liars.
٣٧:١٥٣
أَصْطَفَىHas He chosenaṣṭafāٱلْبَنَاتِ[the] daughtersl-banātiعَلَىoverʿalāٱلْبَنِينَsonsl-banīna١٥٣
Has He chosen daughters over sons?
٣٧:١٥٤
مَاWhat is with youلَكُمْWhat is with youlakumكَيْفَHowkayfaتَحْكُمُونَyou judgetaḥkumūna١٥٤
What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement?
٣٧:١٥٥
أَفَلَاThen will notafalāتَذَكَّرُونَyou pay heedtadhakkarūna١٥٥
Then will you not be reminded?
٣٧:١٥٦
أَمْOramلَكُمْ(is) for youlakumسُلْطَـٰنٌۭan authoritysul'ṭānunمُّبِينٌۭclearmubīnun١٥٦
Or do you have a clear authority?
٣٧:١٥٧
فَأْتُوا۟Then bringfatūبِكِتَـٰبِكُمْyour bookbikitābikumإِنifinكُنتُمْyou arekuntumصَـٰدِقِينَtruthfulṣādiqīna١٥٧
Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful.
٣٧:١٥٨
وَجَعَلُوا۟And they have madewajaʿalūبَيْنَهُۥbetween Himbaynahuوَبَيْنَand betweenwabaynaٱلْجِنَّةِthe jinnl-jinatiنَسَبًۭا ۚa relationshipnasabanوَلَقَدْbut certainlywalaqadعَلِمَتِknowʿalimatiٱلْجِنَّةُthe jinnl-jinatuإِنَّهُمْthat theyinnahumلَمُحْضَرُونَ(will) surely be broughtlamuḥ'ḍarūna١٥٨
And they have made [i.e., claimed] between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought [to punishment].
٣٧:١٥٩
سُبْحَـٰنَGlory besub'ḥānaٱللَّهِ(to) Allahl-lahiعَمَّاabove whatʿammāيَصِفُونَthey attributeyaṣifūna١٥٩
Exalted is Allāh above what they describe,
٣٧:١٦٠
إِلَّاExceptillāعِبَادَ(the) slavesʿibādaٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe chosenl-mukh'laṣīna١٦٠
Except the chosen servants of Allāh [who do not share in that sin].
٣٧:١٦١
فَإِنَّكُمْSo indeed, youfa-innakumوَمَاand whatwamāتَعْبُدُونَyou worshiptaʿbudūna١٦١
So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship,
٣٧:١٦٢
مَآNotأَنتُمْyouantumعَلَيْهِfrom Himʿalayhiبِفَـٰتِنِينَcan tempt away (anyone)bifātinīna١٦٢
You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him
٣٧:١٦٣
إِلَّاExceptillāمَنْwhomanهُوَhehuwaصَالِ(is) to burnṣāliٱلْجَحِيمِ(in) the Hellfirel-jaḥīmi١٦٣
Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire.
٣٧:١٦٤
وَمَاAnd notwamāمِنَّآamong usminnāإِلَّاexceptillāلَهُۥfor himlahuمَقَامٌۭ(is) a positionmaqāmunمَّعْلُومٌۭknownmaʿlūmun١٦٤
[The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position.
٣٧:١٦٥
وَإِنَّاAnd indeed, wewa-innāلَنَحْنُsurely, [we]lanaḥnuٱلصَّآفُّونَstand in rowsl-ṣāfūna١٦٥
And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer].
٣٧:١٦٦
وَإِنَّاAnd indeed, wewa-innāلَنَحْنُsurely, [we]lanaḥnuٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَglorify (Allah)l-musabiḥūna١٦٦
And indeed, we are those who exalt Allāh."
٣٧:١٦٧
وَإِنAnd indeedwa-inكَانُوا۟they used tokānūلَيَقُولُونَsaylayaqūlūna١٦٧
And indeed, they [i.e., the disbelievers] used to say,
٣٧:١٦٨
لَوْIflawأَنَّthatannaعِندَنَاwe hadʿindanāذِكْرًۭاa reminderdhik'ranمِّنَfromminaٱلْأَوَّلِينَthe former (people)l-awalīna١٦٨
"If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples,
٣٧:١٦٩
لَكُنَّاCertainly, we (would) have beenlakunnāعِبَادَslavesʿibādaٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe chosenl-mukh'laṣīna١٦٩
We would have been the chosen servants of Allāh."
٣٧:١٧٠
فَكَفَرُوا۟But they disbelievedfakafarūبِهِۦ ۖin itbihiفَسَوْفَso soonfasawfaيَعْلَمُونَthey will knowyaʿlamūna١٧٠
But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know.
٣٧:١٧١
وَلَقَدْAnd verilywalaqadسَبَقَتْhas precededsabaqatكَلِمَتُنَاOur Wordkalimatunāلِعِبَادِنَاfor Our slavesliʿibādināٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengersl-mur'salīna١٧١
And Our word [i.e., decree] has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers,
٣٧:١٧٢
إِنَّهُمْIndeed theyinnahumلَهُمُsurely theylahumuٱلْمَنصُورُونَ(would be) the victoriousl-manṣūrūna١٧٢
[That] indeed, they would be those given victory
٣٧:١٧٣
وَإِنَّAnd indeedwa-innaجُندَنَاOur hostjundanāلَهُمُsurely, theylahumuٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ(will be) those who overcomel-ghālibūna١٧٣
And [that] indeed, Our soldiers [i.e., the believers] will be those who overcome.
٣٧:١٧٤
فَتَوَلَّSo turn awayfatawallaعَنْهُمْfrom themʿanhumحَتَّىٰuntilḥattāحِينٍۢa timeḥīnin١٧٤
So, [O Muḥammad], leave them for a time.
٣٧:١٧٥
وَأَبْصِرْهُمْAnd see themwa-abṣir'humفَسَوْفَso soonfasawfaيُبْصِرُونَthey will seeyub'ṣirūna١٧٥
And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see.
٣٧:١٧٦
أَفَبِعَذَابِنَاThen is (it) for Our punishmentafabiʿadhābināيَسْتَعْجِلُونَthey hastenyastaʿjilūna١٧٦
Then for Our punishment are they impatient?
٣٧:١٧٧
فَإِذَاBut whenfa-idhāنَزَلَit descendsnazalaبِسَاحَتِهِمْin their territorybisāḥatihimفَسَآءَthen evil (will be)fasāaصَبَاحُ(the) morningṣabāḥuٱلْمُنذَرِينَ(for) those who were warnedl-mundharīna١٧٧
But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned.
٣٧:١٧٨
وَتَوَلَّSo turn awaywatawallaعَنْهُمْfrom themʿanhumحَتَّىٰforḥattāحِينٍۢa timeḥīnin١٧٨
And leave them for a time.
٣٧:١٧٩
وَأَبْصِرْAnd seewa-abṣirفَسَوْفَso soonfasawfaيُبْصِرُونَthey will seeyub'ṣirūna١٧٩
And see, for they are going to see.
٣٧:١٨٠
سُبْحَـٰنَGlorysub'ḥānaرَبِّكَ(be to) your Lordrabbikaرَبِّ(the) Lordrabbiٱلْعِزَّةِ(of) Honorl-ʿizatiعَمَّاabove whatʿammāيَصِفُونَthey attributeyaṣifūna١٨٠
Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe.
٣٧:١٨١
وَسَلَـٰمٌAnd peace bewasalāmunعَلَىuponʿalāٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengersl-mur'salīna١٨١
And peace upon the messengers.
٣٧:١٨٢
وَٱلْحَمْدُAnd all praisewal-ḥamduلِلَّهِ(be) to Allahlillahiرَبِّ(the) Lordrabbiٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna١٨٢
And praise to Allāh, Lord of the worlds.
