بسملة

بِسْمِIn (the) nameٱللَّهِ(of) Allahٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

٣٧:١

وَٱلصَّـٰٓفَّـٰتِBy those linedصَفًّۭا(in) rows١

By those [angels] lined up in rows

٣٧:٢

فَٱلزَّٰجِرَٰتِAnd those who driveزَجْرًۭاstrongly٢

And those who drive [the clouds]

٣٧:٣

فَٱلتَّـٰلِيَـٰتِAnd those who reciteذِكْرًا(the) Message٣

And those who recite the message,

٣٧:٤

إِنَّIndeedإِلَـٰهَكُمْyour Lordلَوَٰحِدٌۭ(is) surely One٤

Indeed, your God is One,

٣٧:٥

رَّبُّLordٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthوَمَاand whatبَيْنَهُمَا(is) between both of themوَرَبُّand Lordٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ(of) each point of sunrise٥

Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises.

٣٧:٦

إِنَّاIndeed, Weزَيَّنَّا[We] adornedٱلسَّمَآءَthe skyٱلدُّنْيَا[the world]بِزِينَةٍwith an adornmentٱلْكَوَاكِبِ(of) the stars٦

Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars

٣٧:٧

وَحِفْظًۭاAnd (to) guardمِّنagainstكُلِّeveryشَيْطَـٰنٍۢdevilمَّارِدٍۢrebellious٧

And as protection against every rebellious devil

٣٧:٨

لَّاNotيَسَّمَّعُونَthey may listenإِلَىtoٱلْمَلَإِthe assemblyٱلْأَعْلَىٰ[the] exaltedوَيُقْذَفُونَare peltedمِنfromكُلِّeveryجَانِبٍۢside٨

[So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side,

٣٧:٩

دُحُورًۭا ۖRepelledوَلَهُمْand for themعَذَابٌۭ(is) a punishmentوَاصِبٌperpetual٩

Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment,

٣٧:١٠

إِلَّاExceptمَنْ(him) whoخَطِفَsnatchesٱلْخَطْفَةَ(by) theftفَأَتْبَعَهُۥbut follows himشِهَابٌۭa burning flameثَاقِبٌۭpiercing١٠

Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness].

٣٧:١١

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْThen ask themأَهُمْAre theyأَشَدُّa strongerخَلْقًاcreationأَمorمَّنْ(those) whomخَلَقْنَآ ۚWe have createdإِنَّاIndeed, Weخَلَقْنَـٰهُمcreated themمِّنfromطِينٍۢa clayلَّازِبٍۭsticky١١

Then inquire of them, [O Muḥammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created them [i.e., men] from sticky clay.

٣٧:١٢

بَلْNayعَجِبْتَyou wonderوَيَسْخَرُونَwhile they mock١٢

But you wonder, while they mock,

٣٧:١٣

وَإِذَاAnd whenذُكِّرُوا۟they are remindedلَاnotيَذْكُرُونَthey receive admonition١٣

And when they are reminded, they remember not.

٣٧:١٤

وَإِذَاAnd whenرَأَوْا۟they seeءَايَةًۭa Signيَسْتَسْخِرُونَthey mock١٤

And when they see a sign, they ridicule.

٣٧:١٥

وَقَالُوٓا۟And they sayإِنْNotهَـٰذَآ(is) thisإِلَّاexceptسِحْرٌۭa magicمُّبِينٌclear١٥

And say, "This is not but obvious magic.

٣٧:١٦

أَءِذَاIs it whenمِتْنَاwe are deadوَكُنَّاand have becomeتُرَابًۭاdustوَعِظَـٰمًاand bonesأَءِنَّاshall we thenلَمَبْعُوثُونَbe certainly resurrected١٦

When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?

٣٧:١٧

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَاOr our fathersٱلْأَوَّلُونَformer١٧

And our forefathers [as well]?"

٣٧:١٨

قُلْSayنَعَمْYesوَأَنتُمْand youدَٰخِرُونَ(will be) humiliated١٨

Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible."

٣٧:١٩

فَإِنَّمَاThen onlyهِىَitزَجْرَةٌۭ(will be) a cryوَٰحِدَةٌۭsingleفَإِذَاthen, beholdهُمْTheyيَنظُرُونَwill see١٩

It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing.

٣٧:٢٠

وَقَالُوا۟And they will sayيَـٰوَيْلَنَاO woe to usهَـٰذَاThisيَوْمُ(is the) Dayٱلدِّينِ(of) the Recompense٢٠

They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense."

٣٧:٢١

هَـٰذَاThisيَوْمُ(is the) Dayٱلْفَصْلِ(of) Judgmentٱلَّذِىwhichكُنتُمyou used toبِهِۦ[of it]تُكَذِّبُونَdeny٢١

[They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny."

٣٧:٢٢

۞ ٱحْشُرُوا۟Gatherٱلَّذِينَthose whoظَلَمُوا۟wrongedوَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْand their kindsوَمَاand whatكَانُوا۟they used (to)يَعْبُدُونَworship٢٢

[The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship

٣٧:٢٣

مِنBesidesدُونِBesidesٱللَّهِAllahفَٱهْدُوهُمْthen lead themإِلَىٰtoصِرَٰطِ(the) Pathٱلْجَحِيمِ(of) the Hellfire٢٣

Other than Allāh, and guide them to the path of Hellfire

٣٧:٢٤

وَقِفُوهُمْ ۖAnd stop themإِنَّهُمindeed, theyمَّسْـُٔولُونَ(are) to be questioned٢٤

And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned."

٣٧:٢٥

مَاWhatلَكُمْ(is) for youلَا(Why) notتَنَاصَرُونَyou help one another٢٥

[They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?"

٣٧:٢٦

بَلْNayهُمُtheyٱلْيَوْمَ(on) that Dayمُسْتَسْلِمُونَ(will) surrender٢٦

But they, that Day, are in surrender.

٣٧:٢٧

وَأَقْبَلَAnd will approachبَعْضُهُمْsome of themعَلَىٰtoبَعْضٍۢothersيَتَسَآءَلُونَquestioning one another٢٧

And they will approach one another asking [i.e., blaming] each other.

٣٧:٢٨

قَالُوٓا۟They will sayإِنَّكُمْIndeed, youكُنتُمْ[you] used (to)تَأْتُونَنَاcome (to) usعَنِfromٱلْيَمِينِthe right٢٨

They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right."1

٣٧:٢٩

قَالُوا۟They will sayبَلNayلَّمْnotتَكُونُوا۟you wereمُؤْمِنِينَbelievers٢٩

They [i.e., the oppressors] will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers,

٣٧:٣٠

وَمَاAnd notكَانَwasلَنَاfor usعَلَيْكُمover youمِّنanyسُلْطَـٰنٍۭ ۖauthorityبَلْNayكُنتُمْyou wereقَوْمًۭاa peopleطَـٰغِينَtransgressing٣٠

And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people.

٣٧:٣١

فَحَقَّSo has been proved trueعَلَيْنَاagainst usقَوْلُ(the) Wordرَبِّنَآ ۖ(of) our Lordإِنَّاindeed, weلَذَآئِقُونَ(will) certainly taste٣١

So the word [i.e., decree] of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment].

٣٧:٣٢

فَأَغْوَيْنَـٰكُمْSo we led you astrayإِنَّاindeed, weكُنَّاwereغَـٰوِينَastray٣٢

And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators."

٣٧:٣٣

فَإِنَّهُمْThen indeed, theyيَوْمَئِذٍۢthat Dayفِىinٱلْعَذَابِthe punishmentمُشْتَرِكُونَ(will be) sharers٣٣

So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment.

٣٧:٣٤

إِنَّاIndeed, WeكَذَٰلِكَthusنَفْعَلُWe dealبِٱلْمُجْرِمِينَwith the criminals٣٤

Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals.

٣٧:٣٥

إِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyكَانُوٓا۟wereإِذَاwhenقِيلَit was saidلَهُمْto themلَآ(There is) noإِلَـٰهَgodإِلَّاexceptٱللَّهُAllahيَسْتَكْبِرُونَwere arrogant٣٥

Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allāh," were arrogant

٣٧:٣٦

وَيَقُولُونَAnd they sayأَئِنَّاAre weلَتَارِكُوٓا۟to leaveءَالِهَتِنَاour godsلِشَاعِرٍۢfor a poetمَّجْنُونٍۭmad٣٦

And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?"

٣٧:٣٧

بَلْNayجَآءَhe has broughtبِٱلْحَقِّthe truthوَصَدَّقَand confirmedٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers٣٧

Rather, he [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)] has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers.

٣٧:٣٨

إِنَّكُمْIndeed, youلَذَآئِقُوا۟(will) surely tasteٱلْعَذَابِthe punishmentٱلْأَلِيمِpainful٣٨

Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment,

٣٧:٣٩

وَمَاAnd notتُجْزَوْنَyou will be recompensedإِلَّاexceptمَاwhatكُنتُمْyou used toتَعْمَلُونَdo٣٩

And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do -

٣٧:٤٠

إِلَّاExceptعِبَادَ(the) slavesٱللَّهِ(of) Allahٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe chosen ones٤٠

But not the chosen servants of Allāh.

٣٧:٤١

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَThoseلَهُمْfor themرِزْقٌۭ(will be) a provisionمَّعْلُومٌۭdetermined٤١

Those will have a provision determined -

٣٧:٤٢

فَوَٰكِهُ ۖFruitsوَهُمand theyمُّكْرَمُونَ(will) be honored٤٢

Fruits; and they will be honored

٣٧:٤٣

فِىInجَنَّـٰتِGardensٱلنَّعِيمِ(of) Delight٤٣

In gardens of pleasure

٣٧:٤٤

عَلَىٰOnسُرُرٍۢthronesمُّتَقَـٰبِلِينَfacing each other٤٤

On thrones facing one another.

٣٧:٤٥

يُطَافُWill be circulatedعَلَيْهِمamong themبِكَأْسٍۢa cupمِّنfromمَّعِينٍۭa flowing spring٤٥

There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring,

٣٧:٤٦

بَيْضَآءَWhiteلَذَّةٍۢdeliciousلِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَfor the drinkers٤٦

White and delicious to the drinkers;

٣٧:٤٧

لَاNotفِيهَاin itغَوْلٌۭ(is) bad effectوَلَاand notهُمْtheyعَنْهَاfrom itيُنزَفُونَwill be intoxicated٤٧

No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated.

٣٧:٤٨

وَعِندَهُمْAnd with themقَـٰصِرَٰتُ(will be) companions of modest gazeٱلطَّرْفِ(will be) companions of modest gazeعِينٌۭ(having) beautiful eyes٤٨

And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes,

٣٧:٤٩

كَأَنَّهُنَّAs if they wereبَيْضٌۭeggsمَّكْنُونٌۭwell protected٤٩

As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected.

٣٧:٥٠

فَأَقْبَلَAnd (will) approachبَعْضُهُمْsome of themعَلَىٰtoبَعْضٍۢothersيَتَسَآءَلُونَquestioning one another٥٠

And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.

٣٧:٥١

قَالَWill sayقَآئِلٌۭa speakerمِّنْهُمْamong themإِنِّىIndeed, Iكَانَhadلِىfor meقَرِينٌۭa companion٥١

A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth].

٣٧:٥٢

يَقُولُWho (would) sayأَءِنَّكَAre you indeedلَمِنَsurely ofٱلْمُصَدِّقِينَthose who believe٥٢

Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe

٣٧:٥٣

أَءِذَاIs (it) whenمِتْنَاwe have diedوَكُنَّاand becomeتُرَابًۭاdustوَعِظَـٰمًاand bonesأَءِنَّاwill weلَمَدِينُونَsurely be brought to Judgment٥٣

That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'"

٣٧:٥٤

قَالَHe (will) sayهَلْWillأَنتُمyouمُّطَّلِعُونَbe looking٥٤

He will say, "Would you [care to] look?"

٣٧:٥٥

فَٱطَّلَعَThen he (will) lookفَرَءَاهُand see himفِىinسَوَآءِ(the) midstٱلْجَحِيمِ(of) the Hellfire٥٥

And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire.

٣٧:٥٦

قَالَHe (will) sayتَٱللَّهِBy Allahإِنverilyكِدتَّyou almostلَتُرْدِينِruined me٥٦

He will say, "By Allāh, you almost ruined me.

٣٧:٥٧

وَلَوْلَاAnd if notنِعْمَةُ(for the) Graceرَبِّى(of) my Lordلَكُنتُcertainly, I (would) have beenمِنَamongٱلْمُحْضَرِينَthose brought٥٧

If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell].

٣٧:٥٨

أَفَمَاThen are notنَحْنُweبِمَيِّتِينَ(to) die٥٨

Then, are we not to die

٣٧:٥٩

إِلَّاExceptمَوْتَتَنَاour deathٱلْأُولَىٰthe firstوَمَاand notنَحْنُweبِمُعَذَّبِينَwill be punished٥٩

Except for our first death, and we will not be punished?"

٣٧:٦٠

إِنَّIndeedهَـٰذَاthisلَهُوَsurelyٱلْفَوْزُ(is) the attainmentٱلْعَظِيمُgreat٦٠

Indeed, this is the great attainment.

٣٧:٦١

لِمِثْلِFor (the) likeهَـٰذَا(of) thisفَلْيَعْمَلِlet workٱلْعَـٰمِلُونَthe workers٦١

For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.

٣٧:٦٢

أَذَٰلِكَIs thatخَيْرٌۭbetterنُّزُلًا(as) hospitalityأَمْorشَجَرَةُ(the) treeٱلزَّقُّومِ(of) Zaqqum٦٢

Is that [i.e., Paradise] a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqūm?

٣٧:٦٣

إِنَّاIndeed, Weجَعَلْنَـٰهَا[We] have made itفِتْنَةًۭa trialلِّلظَّـٰلِمِينَfor the wrongdoers٦٣

Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers.

٣٧:٦٤

إِنَّهَاIndeed, itشَجَرَةٌۭ(is) a treeتَخْرُجُthat growsفِىٓinأَصْلِ(the) bottomٱلْجَحِيمِ(of) the Hellfire٦٤

Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,

٣٧:٦٥

طَلْعُهَاIts emerging fruitكَأَنَّهُۥ(is) as if itرُءُوسُ(was) headsٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ(of) the devils٦٥

Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.

٣٧:٦٦

فَإِنَّهُمْAnd indeed, theyلَـَٔاكِلُونَ(will) surely eatمِنْهَاfrom itفَمَالِـُٔونَand fillمِنْهَاwith itٱلْبُطُونَ(their) bellies٦٦

And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.

٣٧:٦٧

ثُمَّThenإِنَّindeedلَهُمْfor themعَلَيْهَاin itلَشَوْبًۭا(is) a mixtureمِّنْofحَمِيمٍۢboiling water٦٧

Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water.

٣٧:٦٨

ثُمَّThenإِنَّindeedمَرْجِعَهُمْtheir returnلَإِلَى(will) surely be toٱلْجَحِيمِthe Hellfire٦٨

Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.

٣٧:٦٩

إِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyأَلْفَوْا۟foundءَابَآءَهُمْtheir fathersضَآلِّينَastray٦٩

Indeed they found their fathers astray.

٣٧:٧٠

فَهُمْSo theyعَلَىٰٓonءَاثَـٰرِهِمْtheir footstepsيُهْرَعُونَthey hastened٧٠

So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps.

٣٧:٧١

وَلَقَدْAnd verilyضَلَّwent astrayقَبْلَهُمْbefore themأَكْثَرُmostٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) the former (people)٧١

And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples,

٣٧:٧٢

وَلَقَدْAnd verilyأَرْسَلْنَاWe sentفِيهِمamong themمُّنذِرِينَwarners٧٢

And We had already sent among them warners.

٣٧:٧٣

فَٱنظُرْThen seeكَيْفَhowكَانَwasعَـٰقِبَةُ(the) endٱلْمُنذَرِينَ(of) those who were warned٧٣

Then look how was the end of those who were warned -

٣٧:٧٤

إِلَّاExceptعِبَادَ(the) slavesٱللَّهِ(of) Allahٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe chosen ones٧٤

But not the chosen servants of Allāh.

٣٧:٧٥

وَلَقَدْAnd verilyنَادَىٰنَاcalled UsنُوحٌۭNuhفَلَنِعْمَand Bestٱلْمُجِيبُونَ(are We as) Responders٧٥

And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders.

٣٧:٧٦

وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُAnd We saved himوَأَهْلَهُۥand his familyمِنَfromٱلْكَرْبِthe distressٱلْعَظِيمِthe great٧٦

And We saved him and his family from the great affliction.

٣٧:٧٧

وَجَعَلْنَاAnd We madeذُرِّيَّتَهُۥhis offspringهُمُ[they]ٱلْبَاقِينَthe survivors٧٧

And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]

٣٧:٧٨

وَتَرَكْنَاAnd We leftعَلَيْهِfor himفِىamongٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَthe later generations٧٨

And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:

٣٧:٧٩

سَلَـٰمٌPeace beعَلَىٰuponنُوحٍۢNuhفِىamongٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَthe worlds٧٩

"Peace upon Noah among the worlds."

٣٧:٨٠

إِنَّاIndeed, Weكَذَٰلِكَthusنَجْزِى[We] rewardٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doers٨٠

Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

٣٧:٨١

إِنَّهُۥIndeed, heمِنْ(was) ofعِبَادِنَاOur slavesٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbelieving٨١

Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.

٣٧:٨٢

ثُمَّThenأَغْرَقْنَاWe drownedٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَthe others٨٢

Then We drowned the others [i.e., disbelievers].

٣٧:٨٣

۞ وَإِنَّAnd indeedمِنamongشِيعَتِهِۦhis kindلَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ(was) surely Ibrahim٨٣

And indeed, among his kind was Abraham,

٣٧:٨٤

إِذْWhenجَآءَhe cameرَبَّهُۥ(to) his Lordبِقَلْبٍۢwith a heartسَلِيمٍsound٨٤

When he came to his Lord with a sound heart

٣٧:٨٥

إِذْWhenقَالَhe saidلِأَبِيهِto his fatherوَقَوْمِهِۦand his peopleمَاذَاWhat is itتَعْبُدُونَyou worship٨٥

[And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?

٣٧:٨٦

أَئِفْكًاIs it falsehood ءَالِهَةًۭgodsدُونَother thanٱللَّهِAllah تُرِيدُونَ(that) you desire٨٦

Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allāh you desire?

٣٧:٨٧

فَمَاThen whatظَنُّكُم(do) you thinkبِرَبِّabout (the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds٨٧

Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds?"

٣٧:٨٨

فَنَظَرَThen he glancedنَظْرَةًۭa glanceفِىatٱلنُّجُومِthe stars٨٨

And he cast a look at the stars.

٣٧:٨٩

فَقَالَAnd he saidإِنِّىIndeed, I amسَقِيمٌۭsick٨٩

And said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill."

٣٧:٩٠

فَتَوَلَّوْا۟So they turned awayعَنْهُfrom himمُدْبِرِينَdeparting٩٠

So they turned away from him, departing.

٣٧:٩١

فَرَاغَThen he turnedإِلَىٰٓtoءَالِهَتِهِمْtheir godsفَقَالَand saidأَلَاDo notتَأْكُلُونَyou eat٩١

Then he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat?

٣٧:٩٢

مَاWhat (is)لَكُمْfor youلَاnotتَنطِقُونَyou speak٩٢

What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak?".

٣٧:٩٣

فَرَاغَThen he turnedعَلَيْهِمْupon themضَرْبًۢاstrikingبِٱلْيَمِينِwith the right hand٩٣

And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand.

٣٧:٩٤

فَأَقْبَلُوٓا۟Then they advancedإِلَيْهِtowards himيَزِفُّونَhastening٩٤

Then they [i.e., the people] came toward him, hastening.

٣٧:٩٥

قَالَHe saidأَتَعْبُدُونَDo you worshipمَاwhatتَنْحِتُونَyou carve٩٥

He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve,

٣٧:٩٦

وَٱللَّهُWhile Allahخَلَقَكُمْcreated youوَمَاand whatتَعْمَلُونَyou make٩٦

While Allāh created you and that which you do?"

٣٧:٩٧

قَالُوا۟They saidٱبْنُوا۟Buildلَهُۥfor himبُنْيَـٰنًۭاa structureفَأَلْقُوهُand throw himفِىintoٱلْجَحِيمِthe blazing Fire٩٧

They said, "Construct for him a structure [i.e., furnace] and throw him into the burning fire."

٣٧:٩٨

فَأَرَادُوا۟And they intendedبِهِۦfor himكَيْدًۭاa plotفَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُbut We made themٱلْأَسْفَلِينَthe lowest٩٨

And they intended for him a plan [i.e., harm], but We made them the most debased.

٣٧:٩٩

وَقَالَAnd he saidإِنِّىIndeed, I amذَاهِبٌgoingإِلَىٰtoرَبِّىmy LordسَيَهْدِينِHe will guide me٩٩

And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me.

٣٧:١٠٠

رَبِّMy Lordهَبْgrantلِىmeمِنَofٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَthe righteous١٠٠

My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous."

٣٧:١٠١

فَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُSo We gave him the glad tidingsبِغُلَـٰمٍof a boyحَلِيمٍۢforbearing١٠١

So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy.

٣٧:١٠٢

فَلَمَّاThen whenبَلَغَhe reachedمَعَهُthe (age of) working with himٱلسَّعْىَthe (age of) working with himقَالَhe saidيَـٰبُنَىَّO my sonإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَرَىٰhave seenفِىinٱلْمَنَامِthe dreamأَنِّىٓthat I amأَذْبَحُكَsacrificing youفَٱنظُرْso lookمَاذَاwhatتَرَىٰ ۚyou seeقَالَHe saidيَـٰٓأَبَتِO my fatherٱفْعَلْDoمَاwhatتُؤْمَرُ ۖyou are commandedسَتَجِدُنِىٓYou will find meإِنifشَآءَAllah willsٱللَّهُAllah willsمِنَofٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَthe patient ones١٠٢

And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allāh wills, of the steadfast."

٣٧:١٠٣

فَلَمَّآThen whenأَسْلَمَاboth of them had submittedوَتَلَّهُۥand he put him downلِلْجَبِينِupon his forehead١٠٣

And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead,

٣٧:١٠٤

وَنَـٰدَيْنَـٰهُAnd We called out to himأَنthatيَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُO Ibrahim١٠٤

We called to him, "O Abraham,

٣٧:١٠٥

قَدْVerilyصَدَّقْتَyou have fulfilledٱلرُّءْيَآ ۚthe visionإِنَّاIndeed, Weكَذَٰلِكَthusنَجْزِى[We] rewardٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doers١٠٥

You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

٣٧:١٠٦

إِنَّIndeedهَـٰذَاthisلَهُوَ(was) surely [it]ٱلْبَلَـٰٓؤُا۟the trialٱلْمُبِينُclear١٠٦

Indeed, this was the clear trial.

٣٧:١٠٧

وَفَدَيْنَـٰهُAnd We ransomed himبِذِبْحٍwith a sacrificeعَظِيمٍۢgreat١٠٧

And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice,

٣٧:١٠٨

وَتَرَكْنَاAnd We leftعَلَيْهِfor himفِىamongٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَthe later generations١٠٨

And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:

٣٧:١٠٩

سَلَـٰمٌPeace beعَلَىٰٓonإِبْرَٰهِيمَIbrahim١٠٩

"Peace upon Abraham."

٣٧:١١٠

كَذَٰلِكَThusنَجْزِىWe rewardٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doers١١٠

Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

٣٧:١١١

إِنَّهُۥIndeed, he (was)مِنْofعِبَادِنَاOur slavesٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbelieving١١١

Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.

٣٧:١١٢

وَبَشَّرْنَـٰهُAnd We gave him glad tidingsبِإِسْحَـٰقَof Isaacنَبِيًّۭاa Prophetمِّنَamongٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَthe righteous١١٢

And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous.

٣٧:١١٣

وَبَـٰرَكْنَاAnd We blessedعَلَيْهِhimوَعَلَىٰٓand [on]إِسْحَـٰقَ ۚIsaacوَمِنAnd ofذُرِّيَّتِهِمَاtheir offspringمُحْسِنٌۭ(are) good-doersوَظَالِمٌۭand unjustلِّنَفْسِهِۦto himselfمُبِينٌۭclear١١٣

And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself [i.e., sinner].

٣٧:١١٤

وَلَقَدْAnd verilyمَنَنَّاWe conferred FavorعَلَىٰuponمُوسَىٰMusaوَهَـٰرُونَand Harun١١٤

And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron.

٣٧:١١٥

وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُمَاAnd We saved both of themوَقَوْمَهُمَاand their peopleمِنَfromٱلْكَرْبِthe distressٱلْعَظِيمِthe great١١٥

And We saved them and their people from the great affliction,

٣٧:١١٦

وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُمْAnd We helped themفَكَانُوا۟so they becameهُمُso they becameٱلْغَـٰلِبِينَthe victors١١٦

And We supported them so it was they who overcame.

٣٧:١١٧

وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمَاAnd We gave both of themٱلْكِتَـٰبَthe Bookٱلْمُسْتَبِينَthe clear١١٧

And We gave them the explicit Scripture [i.e., the Torah],

٣٧:١١٨

وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُمَاAnd We guided both of themٱلصِّرَٰطَ(to) the Pathٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَthe Straight١١٨

And We guided them on the straight path.

٣٧:١١٩

وَتَرَكْنَاAnd We leftعَلَيْهِمَاfor both of themفِىamongٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَthe later generations١١٩

And We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations:

٣٧:١٢٠

سَلَـٰمٌPeace beعَلَىٰuponمُوسَىٰMusaوَهَـٰرُونَand Harun١٢٠

"Peace upon Moses and Aaron."

٣٧:١٢١

إِنَّاIndeed, Weكَذَٰلِكَthusنَجْزِىrewardٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doers١٢١

Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

٣٧:١٢٢

إِنَّهُمَاIndeed, both of themمِنْ(were) ofعِبَادِنَاOur slavesٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbelieving١٢٢

Indeed, they were of Our believing servants.

٣٧:١٢٣

وَإِنَّAnd indeedإِلْيَاسَElijahلَمِنَ(was) surely ofٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers١٢٣

And indeed, Elias was from among the messengers,

٣٧:١٢٤

إِذْWhenقَالَhe saidلِقَوْمِهِۦٓto his peopleأَلَاWill notتَتَّقُونَyou fear١٢٤

When he said to his people, "Will you not fear Allāh?

٣٧:١٢٥

أَتَدْعُونَDo you callبَعْلًۭاBaalوَتَذَرُونَand you forsakeأَحْسَنَ(the) Bestٱلْخَـٰلِقِينَ(of) Creators ١٢٥

Do you call upon Baʿl and leave the best of creators -

٣٧:١٢٦

ٱللَّهَAllahرَبَّكُمْyour Lordوَرَبَّand (the) Lordءَابَآئِكُمُ(of) your forefathersٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) your forefathers١٢٦

Allāh, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers?"

٣٧:١٢٧

فَكَذَّبُوهُBut they denied himفَإِنَّهُمْso indeed, theyلَمُحْضَرُونَ(will) surely be brought١٢٧

And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment],

٣٧:١٢٨

إِلَّاExceptعِبَادَ(the) slavesٱللَّهِ(of) Allahٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe chosen ones١٢٨

Except the chosen servants of Allāh.

٣٧:١٢٩

وَتَرَكْنَاAnd We leftعَلَيْهِfor himفِىamongٱلْـَٔاخِرِينَthe later generations١٢٩

And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations:

٣٧:١٣٠

سَلَـٰمٌPeace beعَلَىٰٓuponإِلْ يَاسِينَElijah١٣٠

"Peace upon Elias."1

٣٧:١٣١

إِنَّاIndeed, Weكَذَٰلِكَthusنَجْزِىrewardٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doers١٣١

Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good.

٣٧:١٣٢

إِنَّهُۥIndeed, he (was)مِنْofعِبَادِنَاOur slavesٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbelieving١٣٢

Indeed, he was of Our believing servants.

٣٧:١٣٣

وَإِنَّAnd indeedلُوطًۭاLutلَّمِنَ(was) ofٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers١٣٣

And indeed, Lot was among the messengers.

٣٧:١٣٤

إِذْWhenنَجَّيْنَـٰهُWe saved himوَأَهْلَهُۥٓand his familyأَجْمَعِينَall١٣٤

[So mention] when We saved him and his family, all,

٣٧:١٣٥

إِلَّاExceptعَجُوزًۭاan old womanفِى(was) amongٱلْغَـٰبِرِينَthose who remained behind١٣٥

Except an old woman [i.e., his wife] among those who remained [with the evildoers].

٣٧:١٣٦

ثُمَّThenدَمَّرْنَاWe destroyedٱلْـَٔاخَرِينَthe others١٣٦

Then We destroyed the others.

٣٧:١٣٧

وَإِنَّكُمْAnd indeed, youلَتَمُرُّونَsurely passعَلَيْهِمby themمُّصْبِحِينَ(in the) morning١٣٧

And indeed, you pass by them in the morning

٣٧:١٣٨

وَبِٱلَّيْلِ ۗAnd at nightأَفَلَاThen will notتَعْقِلُونَyou use reason١٣٨

And at night. Then will you not use reason?

٣٧:١٣٩

وَإِنَّAnd indeedيُونُسَYunusلَمِنَ(was) surely ofٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers١٣٩

And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers.

٣٧:١٤٠

إِذْWhenأَبَقَhe ran awayإِلَىtoٱلْفُلْكِthe shipٱلْمَشْحُونِladen١٤٠

[Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship.

٣٧:١٤١

فَسَاهَمَThen he drew lotsفَكَانَand wasمِنَofٱلْمُدْحَضِينَthe losers١٤١

And he drew lots and was among the losers.

٣٧:١٤٢

فَٱلْتَقَمَهُThen swallowed himٱلْحُوتُthe fishوَهُوَwhile heمُلِيمٌۭ(was) blameworthy١٤٢

Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy.

٣٧:١٤٣

فَلَوْلَآAnd if notأَنَّهُۥthat heكَانَwasمِنَofٱلْمُسَبِّحِينَthose who glorify١٤٣

And had he not been of those who exalt Allāh,

٣٧:١٤٤

لَلَبِثَCertainly, he (would have) remainedفِىinبَطْنِهِۦٓits bellyإِلَىٰuntilيَوْمِthe Dayيُبْعَثُونَthey are resurrected١٤٤

He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected.

٣٧:١٤٥

۞ فَنَبَذْنَـٰهُBut We cast himبِٱلْعَرَآءِonto the open shoreوَهُوَwhile heسَقِيمٌۭ(was) ill١٤٥

But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill.

٣٧:١٤٦

وَأَنۢبَتْنَاAnd We caused to growعَلَيْهِover himشَجَرَةًۭa plantمِّنofيَقْطِينٍۢgourd١٤٦

And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine.

٣٧:١٤٧

وَأَرْسَلْنَـٰهُAnd We sent himإِلَىٰtoمِا۟ئَةِa hundredأَلْفٍthousandأَوْorيَزِيدُونَmore١٤٧

And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more.

٣٧:١٤٨

فَـَٔامَنُوا۟And they believedفَمَتَّعْنَـٰهُمْso We gave them enjoymentإِلَىٰforحِينٍۢa while١٤٨

And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time.

٣٧:١٤٩

فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْThen ask themأَلِرَبِّكَDoes your Lordٱلْبَنَاتُ(have) daughtersوَلَهُمُwhile for themٱلْبَنُونَ(are) sons١٤٩

So inquire of them, [O Muḥammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons?

٣٧:١٥٠

أَمْOrخَلَقْنَاdid We createٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَthe Angelsإِنَـٰثًۭاfemalesوَهُمْwhile theyشَـٰهِدُونَ(were) witnesses١٥٠

Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses?"

٣٧:١٥١

أَلَآNo doubtإِنَّهُمindeed, theyمِّنْofإِفْكِهِمْtheir falsehoodلَيَقُولُونَ[they] say١٥١

Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say,

٣٧:١٥٢

وَلَدَAllah has begottenٱللَّهُAllah has begottenوَإِنَّهُمْand indeed, theyلَكَـٰذِبُونَsurely (are) liars١٥٢

"Allāh has begotten," and indeed, they are liars.

٣٧:١٥٣

أَصْطَفَىHas He chosenٱلْبَنَاتِ[the] daughtersعَلَىoverٱلْبَنِينَsons١٥٣

Has He chosen daughters over sons?

٣٧:١٥٤

مَاWhat is with youلَكُمْWhat is with youكَيْفَHowتَحْكُمُونَyou judge١٥٤

What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement?

٣٧:١٥٥

أَفَلَاThen will notتَذَكَّرُونَyou pay heed١٥٥

Then will you not be reminded?

٣٧:١٥٦

أَمْOrلَكُمْ(is) for youسُلْطَـٰنٌۭan authorityمُّبِينٌۭclear١٥٦

Or do you have a clear authority?

٣٧:١٥٧

فَأْتُوا۟Then bringبِكِتَـٰبِكُمْyour bookإِنifكُنتُمْyou areصَـٰدِقِينَtruthful١٥٧

Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful.

٣٧:١٥٨

وَجَعَلُوا۟And they have madeبَيْنَهُۥbetween Himوَبَيْنَand betweenٱلْجِنَّةِthe jinnنَسَبًۭا ۚa relationshipوَلَقَدْbut certainlyعَلِمَتِknowٱلْجِنَّةُthe jinnإِنَّهُمْthat theyلَمُحْضَرُونَ(will) surely be brought١٥٨

And they have made [i.e., claimed] between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought [to punishment].

٣٧:١٥٩

سُبْحَـٰنَGlory beٱللَّهِ(to) Allahعَمَّاabove whatيَصِفُونَthey attribute١٥٩

Exalted is Allāh above what they describe,

٣٧:١٦٠

إِلَّاExceptعِبَادَ(the) slavesٱللَّهِ(of) Allahٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe chosen١٦٠

Except the chosen servants of Allāh [who do not share in that sin].

٣٧:١٦١

فَإِنَّكُمْSo indeed, youوَمَاand whatتَعْبُدُونَyou worship١٦١

So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship,

٣٧:١٦٢

مَآNotأَنتُمْyouعَلَيْهِfrom Himبِفَـٰتِنِينَcan tempt away (anyone)١٦٢

You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him

٣٧:١٦٣

إِلَّاExceptمَنْwhoهُوَheصَالِ(is) to burnٱلْجَحِيمِ(in) the Hellfire١٦٣

Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire.

٣٧:١٦٤

وَمَاAnd notمِنَّآamong usإِلَّاexceptلَهُۥfor himمَقَامٌۭ(is) a positionمَّعْلُومٌۭknown١٦٤

[The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position.

٣٧:١٦٥

وَإِنَّاAnd indeed, weلَنَحْنُsurely, [we]ٱلصَّآفُّونَstand in rows١٦٥

And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer].

٣٧:١٦٦

وَإِنَّاAnd indeed, weلَنَحْنُsurely, [we]ٱلْمُسَبِّحُونَglorify (Allah)١٦٦

And indeed, we are those who exalt Allāh."

٣٧:١٦٧

وَإِنAnd indeedكَانُوا۟they used toلَيَقُولُونَsay١٦٧

And indeed, they [i.e., the disbelievers] used to say,

٣٧:١٦٨

لَوْIfأَنَّthatعِندَنَاwe hadذِكْرًۭاa reminderمِّنَfromٱلْأَوَّلِينَthe former (people)١٦٨

"If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples,

٣٧:١٦٩

لَكُنَّاCertainly, we (would) have beenعِبَادَslavesٱللَّهِ(of) Allahٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe chosen١٦٩

We would have been the chosen servants of Allāh."

٣٧:١٧٠

فَكَفَرُوا۟But they disbelievedبِهِۦ ۖin itفَسَوْفَso soonيَعْلَمُونَthey will know١٧٠

But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know.

٣٧:١٧١

وَلَقَدْAnd verilyسَبَقَتْhas precededكَلِمَتُنَاOur Wordلِعِبَادِنَاfor Our slavesٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers١٧١

And Our word [i.e., decree] has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers,

٣٧:١٧٢

إِنَّهُمْIndeed theyلَهُمُsurely theyٱلْمَنصُورُونَ(would be) the victorious١٧٢

[That] indeed, they would be those given victory

٣٧:١٧٣

وَإِنَّAnd indeedجُندَنَاOur hostلَهُمُsurely, theyٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ(will be) those who overcome١٧٣

And [that] indeed, Our soldiers [i.e., the believers] will be those who overcome.

٣٧:١٧٤

فَتَوَلَّSo turn awayعَنْهُمْfrom themحَتَّىٰuntilحِينٍۢa time١٧٤

So, [O Muḥammad], leave them for a time.

٣٧:١٧٥

وَأَبْصِرْهُمْAnd see themفَسَوْفَso soonيُبْصِرُونَthey will see١٧٥

And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see.

٣٧:١٧٦

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَاThen is (it) for Our punishmentيَسْتَعْجِلُونَthey hasten١٧٦

Then for Our punishment are they impatient?

٣٧:١٧٧

فَإِذَاBut whenنَزَلَit descendsبِسَاحَتِهِمْin their territoryفَسَآءَthen evil (will be)صَبَاحُ(the) morningٱلْمُنذَرِينَ(for) those who were warned١٧٧

But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned.

٣٧:١٧٨

وَتَوَلَّSo turn awayعَنْهُمْfrom themحَتَّىٰforحِينٍۢa time١٧٨

And leave them for a time.

٣٧:١٧٩

وَأَبْصِرْAnd seeفَسَوْفَso soonيُبْصِرُونَthey will see١٧٩

And see, for they are going to see.

٣٧:١٨٠

سُبْحَـٰنَGloryرَبِّكَ(be to) your Lordرَبِّ(the) Lordٱلْعِزَّةِ(of) Honorعَمَّاabove whatيَصِفُونَthey attribute١٨٠

Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe.

٣٧:١٨١

وَسَلَـٰمٌAnd peace beعَلَىuponٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers١٨١

And peace upon the messengers.

٣٧:١٨٢

وَٱلْحَمْدُAnd all praiseلِلَّهِ(be) to Allahرَبِّ(the) Lordٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds١٨٢

And praise to Allāh, Lord of the worlds.

الصافات
