بسملة

بِسْمِIn (the) nameٱللَّهِ(of) Allahٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

٣٦:١

يسٓYa Seen١

Yā, Seen.

٣٦:٢

وَٱلْقُرْءَانِBy the Quranٱلْحَكِيمِthe Wise٢

By the wise Qur’ān,

٣٦:٣

إِنَّكَIndeed, youلَمِنَ(are) amongٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers٣

Indeed you, [O Muḥammad], are from among the messengers,

٣٦:٤

عَلَىٰOnصِرَٰطٍۢa PathمُّسْتَقِيمٍۢStraight٤

On a straight path.

٣٦:٥

تَنزِيلَA revelationٱلْعَزِيزِ(of) the All-Mightyٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful٥

[This is] a revelation of the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,

٣٦:٦

لِتُنذِرَThat you may warnقَوْمًۭاa peopleمَّآnotأُنذِرَwere warnedءَابَآؤُهُمْtheir forefathersفَهُمْso theyغَـٰفِلُونَ(are) heedless٦

That you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are unaware.

٣٦:٧

لَقَدْCertainlyحَقَّ(has) proved trueٱلْقَوْلُthe wordعَلَىٰٓuponأَكْثَرِهِمْmost of themفَهُمْso theyلَا(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَbelieve٧

Already the word [i.e., decree] has come into effect upon most of them, so they do not believe.

٣٦:٨

إِنَّاIndeed, Weجَعَلْنَا[We] have placedفِىٓonأَعْنَـٰقِهِمْtheir necksأَغْلَـٰلًۭاiron collarsفَهِىَand theyإِلَى(are up) toٱلْأَذْقَانِthe chinsفَهُمso theyمُّقْمَحُونَ(are with) heads raised up٨

Indeed, We have put shackles on their necks, and they are to their chins, so they are with heads [kept] aloft.

٣٦:٩

وَجَعَلْنَاAnd We have madeمِنۢfromبَيْنِbefore/betweenأَيْدِيهِمْtheir hands/their frontسَدًّۭاa barrierوَمِنْand fromخَلْفِهِمْbehind themسَدًّۭاa barrierفَأَغْشَيْنَـٰهُمْand We covered themفَهُمْso theyلَا(do) notيُبْصِرُونَsee٩

And We have put before them a barrier and behind them a barrier and covered them, so they do not see.

٣٦:١٠

وَسَوَآءٌAnd it (is) sameعَلَيْهِمْto themءَأَنذَرْتَهُمْwhether you warn themأَمْorلَمْ(do) notتُنذِرْهُمْwarn themلَاnotيُؤْمِنُونَthey will believe١٠

And it is all the same for them whether you warn them or do not warn them - they will not believe.

٣٦:١١

إِنَّمَاOnlyتُنذِرُyou (can) warnمَنِ(him) whoٱتَّبَعَfollowsٱلذِّكْرَthe Reminderوَخَشِىَand fearsٱلرَّحْمَـٰنَthe Most Graciousبِٱلْغَيْبِ ۖin the unseenفَبَشِّرْهُSo give him glad tidingsبِمَغْفِرَةٍۢof forgivenessوَأَجْرٍۢand a rewardكَرِيمٍnoble١١

You can only warn one who follows the message and fears the Most Merciful unseen. So give him good tidings of forgiveness and noble reward.

٣٦:١٢

إِنَّاIndeed, Weنَحْنُ[We]نُحْىِ[We] give lifeٱلْمَوْتَىٰ(to) the deadوَنَكْتُبُand We recordمَاwhatقَدَّمُوا۟they have sent beforeوَءَاثَـٰرَهُمْ ۚand their footprintsوَكُلَّand everyشَىْءٍthingأَحْصَيْنَـٰهُWe have enumerated itفِىٓinإِمَامٍۢa Registerمُّبِينٍۢclear١٢

Indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and record what they have put forth and what they left behind, and all things We have enumerated in a clear register.

٣٦:١٣

وَٱضْرِبْAnd set forthلَهُمto themمَّثَلًاan exampleأَصْحَـٰبَ(of the) companionsٱلْقَرْيَةِ(of) the cityإِذْwhenجَآءَهَاcame to itٱلْمُرْسَلُونَthe Messengers١٣

And present to them an example: the people of the city, when the messengers came to it -

٣٦:١٤

إِذْWhenأَرْسَلْنَآWe sentإِلَيْهِمُto themٱثْنَيْنِtwo (Messengers)فَكَذَّبُوهُمَاbut they denied both of themفَعَزَّزْنَاso We strengthened themبِثَالِثٍۢwith a thirdفَقَالُوٓا۟and they saidإِنَّآIndeed, Weإِلَيْكُمto youمُّرْسَلُونَ(are) Messengers١٤

When We sent to them two but they denied them, so We strengthened [them] with a third, and they said, "Indeed, we are messengers to you."

٣٦:١٥

قَالُوا۟They saidمَآNotأَنتُمْyouإِلَّا(are) butبَشَرٌۭhuman beingsمِّثْلُنَاlike usوَمَآand notأَنزَلَhas revealedٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُthe Most GraciousمِنanyشَىْءٍthingإِنْNotأَنتُمْyouإِلَّا(are) butتَكْذِبُونَlying١٥

They said, "You are not but human beings like us, and the Most Merciful has not revealed a thing. You are only telling lies."

٣٦:١٦

قَالُوا۟They saidرَبُّنَاOur Lordيَعْلَمُknowsإِنَّآthat weإِلَيْكُمْto youلَمُرْسَلُونَ(are) surely Messengers١٦

They said, "Our Lord knows that we are messengers to you,

٣٦:١٧

وَمَاAnd notعَلَيْنَآ(is) on usإِلَّاexceptٱلْبَلَـٰغُthe conveyanceٱلْمُبِينُclear١٧

And we are not responsible except for clear notification."

٣٦:١٨

قَالُوٓا۟They saidإِنَّاIndeed, weتَطَيَّرْنَا[we] see an evil omenبِكُمْ ۖfrom youلَئِنIfلَّمْnotتَنتَهُوا۟you desistلَنَرْجُمَنَّكُمْsurely, we will stone youوَلَيَمَسَّنَّكُمand surely will touch youمِّنَّاfrom usعَذَابٌa punishmentأَلِيمٌۭpainful١٨

They said, "Indeed, we consider you a bad omen. If you do not desist, we will surely stone you, and there will surely touch you, from us, a painful punishment."

٣٦:١٩

قَالُوا۟They saidطَـٰٓئِرُكُمYour evil omenمَّعَكُمْ ۚ(be) with youأَئِنIs it becauseذُكِّرْتُم ۚyou are admonishedبَلْNayأَنتُمْyouقَوْمٌۭ(are) a peopleمُّسْرِفُونَtransgressing١٩

They said, "Your omen [i.e., fate] is with yourselves. Is it because you were reminded? Rather, you are a transgressing people."

٣٦:٢٠

وَجَآءَAnd cameمِنْfromأَقْصَا(the) farthest endٱلْمَدِينَةِ(of) the cityرَجُلٌۭa manيَسْعَىٰrunningقَالَHe saidيَـٰقَوْمِO my Peopleٱتَّبِعُوا۟Followٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers٢٠

And there came from the farthest end of the city a man, running. He said, "O my people, follow the messengers.

٣٦:٢١

ٱتَّبِعُوا۟Followمَن(those) whoلَّا(do) notيَسْـَٔلُكُمْask (of) youأَجْرًۭاany paymentوَهُمand theyمُّهْتَدُونَ(are) rightly guided٢١

Follow those who do not ask of you [any] payment, and they are [rightly] guided.

٣٦:٢٢

وَمَاAnd whatلِىَ(is) for meلَآ(that) notأَعْبُدُI worshipٱلَّذِىthe One Whoفَطَرَنِىcreated meوَإِلَيْهِand to Whomتُرْجَعُونَyou will be returned٢٢

And why should I not worship He who created me and to whom you will be returned?

٣٦:٢٣

ءَأَتَّخِذُShould I takeمِنbesides Himدُونِهِۦٓbesides HimءَالِهَةًgodsإِنIfيُرِدْنِintends for meٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُthe Most Graciousبِضُرٍّۢany harmلَّاnotتُغْنِwill availعَنِّى[from] meشَفَـٰعَتُهُمْtheir intercessionشَيْـًۭٔا(in) anythingوَلَاand notيُنقِذُونِthey (can) save me٢٣

Should I take other than Him [false] deities [while], if the Most Merciful intends for me some adversity, their intercession will not avail me at all, nor can they save me?

٣٦:٢٤

إِنِّىٓIndeed, Iإِذًۭاthenلَّفِىsurely would be inضَلَـٰلٍۢan errorمُّبِينٍclear٢٤

Indeed, I would then be in manifest error.

٣٦:٢٥

إِنِّىٓIndeed, Iءَامَنتُ[I] have believedبِرَبِّكُمْin your Lordفَٱسْمَعُونِso listen to me٢٥

Indeed, I have believed in your Lord, so listen to me."

٣٦:٢٦

قِيلَIt was saidٱدْخُلِEnterٱلْجَنَّةَ ۖParadiseقَالَHe saidيَـٰلَيْتَI wishقَوْمِىmy peopleيَعْلَمُونَknew٢٦

It was said, "Enter Paradise."1 He said, "I wish my people could know

٣٦:٢٧

بِمَاOf howغَفَرَhas forgivenلِىmeرَبِّىmy Lordوَجَعَلَنِىand placed meمِنَamongٱلْمُكْرَمِينَthe honored ones٢٧

Of how my Lord has forgiven me and placed me among the honored."

٣٦:٢٨

۞ وَمَآAnd notأَنزَلْنَاWe sent downعَلَىٰuponقَوْمِهِۦhis peopleمِنۢafter himبَعْدِهِۦafter himمِنanyجُندٍۢhostمِّنَfromٱلسَّمَآءِthe heavenوَمَاand notكُنَّاwere Weمُنزِلِينَ(to) send down٢٨

And We did not send down upon his people after him any soldiers from the heaven, nor would We have done so.

٣٦:٢٩

إِنNotكَانَتْit wasإِلَّاbutصَيْحَةًۭa shoutوَٰحِدَةًۭoneفَإِذَاthen beholdهُمْTheyخَـٰمِدُونَ(were) extinguished٢٩

It was not but one shout, and immediately they were extinguished.

٣٦:٣٠

يَـٰحَسْرَةًAlasعَلَىforٱلْعِبَادِ ۚthe servantsمَاNotيَأْتِيهِمcame to themمِّنanyرَّسُولٍMessengerإِلَّاbutكَانُوا۟they didبِهِۦmock at himيَسْتَهْزِءُونَmock at him٣٠

How regretful for the servants. There did not come to them any messenger except that they used to ridicule him.

٣٦:٣١

أَلَمْDo notيَرَوْا۟they seeكَمْhow manyأَهْلَكْنَاWe destroyedقَبْلَهُمbefore themمِّنَofٱلْقُرُونِthe generationsأَنَّهُمْThat theyإِلَيْهِمْto themلَاwill not returnيَرْجِعُونَwill not return٣١

Have they not considered how many generations We destroyed before them - that they to them will not return?

٣٦:٣٢

وَإِنAnd surelyكُلٌّۭallلَّمَّاthenجَمِيعٌۭtogetherلَّدَيْنَاbefore Usمُحْضَرُونَ(will be) brought٣٢

And indeed, all of them will yet be brought present before Us.

٣٦:٣٣

وَءَايَةٌۭAnd a Signلَّهُمُfor themٱلْأَرْضُ(is) the earthٱلْمَيْتَةُdeadأَحْيَيْنَـٰهَاWe give it lifeوَأَخْرَجْنَاand We bring forthمِنْهَاfrom itحَبًّۭاgrainفَمِنْهُand from itيَأْكُلُونَthey eat٣٣

And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat.

٣٦:٣٤

وَجَعَلْنَاAnd We placedفِيهَاthereinجَنَّـٰتٍۢgardensمِّنofنَّخِيلٍۢdate-palmsوَأَعْنَـٰبٍۢand grapevinesوَفَجَّرْنَاand We caused to gush forthفِيهَاin itمِنَofٱلْعُيُونِthe springs٣٤

And We placed therein gardens of palm trees and grapevines and caused to burst forth therefrom some springs -

٣٦:٣٥

لِيَأْكُلُوا۟That they may eatمِنofثَمَرِهِۦits fruitوَمَاAnd notعَمِلَتْهُmade itأَيْدِيهِمْ ۖtheir handsأَفَلَاSo will notيَشْكُرُونَthey be grateful٣٥

That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not produced it, so will they not be grateful?

٣٦:٣٦

سُبْحَـٰنَGlory beٱلَّذِى(to) the One Whoخَلَقَcreatedٱلْأَزْوَٰجَ(in) pairsكُلَّهَاallمِمَّاof whatتُنۢبِتُgrowsٱلْأَرْضُthe earthوَمِنْand ofأَنفُسِهِمْthemselvesوَمِمَّاand of whatلَاnotيَعْلَمُونَthey know٣٦

Exalted is He who created all pairs - from what the earth grows and from themselves and from that which they do not know.

٣٦:٣٧

وَءَايَةٌۭAnd a Signلَّهُمُfor themٱلَّيْلُ(is) the nightنَسْلَخُWe withdrawمِنْهُfrom itٱلنَّهَارَthe dayفَإِذَاThen beholdهُمTheyمُّظْلِمُونَ(are) those in darkness٣٧

And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it the [light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness.

٣٦:٣٨

وَٱلشَّمْسُAnd the sunتَجْرِىrunsلِمُسْتَقَرٍّۢto a term appointedلَّهَا ۚfor itذَٰلِكَThatتَقْدِيرُ(is the) Decreeٱلْعَزِيزِ(of) the All-Mightyٱلْعَلِيمِthe All-Knowing٣٨

And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.

٣٦:٣٩

وَٱلْقَمَرَAnd the moon قَدَّرْنَـٰهُWe have ordained for itمَنَازِلَphasesحَتَّىٰuntilعَادَit returnsكَٱلْعُرْجُونِlike the date stalkٱلْقَدِيمِthe old٣٩

And the moon - We have determined for it phases, until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk.

٣٦:٤٠

لَاNotٱلشَّمْسُthe sunيَنۢبَغِىis permittedلَهَآfor it أَنthatتُدْرِكَit overtakesٱلْقَمَرَthe moonوَلَاand notٱلَّيْلُthe nightسَابِقُ(can) outstripٱلنَّهَارِ ۚthe dayوَكُلٌّۭbut allفِىinفَلَكٍۢan orbitيَسْبَحُونَthey are floating٤٠

It is not allowable [i.e., possible] for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming.

٣٦:٤١

وَءَايَةٌۭAnd a Signلَّهُمْfor themأَنَّا(is) thatحَمَلْنَاWe carriedذُرِّيَّتَهُمْtheir offspringفِىinٱلْفُلْكِthe shipٱلْمَشْحُونِladen٤١

And a sign for them is that We carried their forefathers in a laden ship.

٣٦:٤٢

وَخَلَقْنَاAnd We createdلَهُمfor themمِّنfromمِّثْلِهِۦ(the) likes of itمَاwhatيَرْكَبُونَthey ride٤٢

And We created for them from the likes of it that which they ride.

٣٦:٤٣

وَإِنAnd ifنَّشَأْWe willنُغْرِقْهُمْWe could drown themفَلَاthen notصَرِيخَ(would be) a responder to a cryلَهُمْfor themوَلَاand notهُمْtheyيُنقَذُونَwould be saved٤٣

And if We should will, We could drown them; then no one responding to a cry would there be for them, nor would they be saved

٣٦:٤٤

إِلَّاExceptرَحْمَةًۭ(by) Mercyمِّنَّاfrom Usوَمَتَـٰعًاand provisionإِلَىٰforحِينٍۢa time٤٤

Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time.

٣٦:٤٥

وَإِذَاAnd whenقِيلَit is saidلَهُمُto themٱتَّقُوا۟Fearمَاwhatبَيْنَ(is) before youأَيْدِيكُمْ(is) before youوَمَاand whatخَلْفَكُمْ(is) behind youلَعَلَّكُمْso that you mayتُرْحَمُونَreceive mercy٤٥

But when it is said to them, "Beware of what is before you and what is behind you; perhaps you will receive mercy..."2

٣٦:٤٦

وَمَاAnd notتَأْتِيهِمcomes to themمِّنْofءَايَةٍۢa Signمِّنْfromءَايَـٰتِ(the) Signsرَبِّهِمْ(of) their Lordإِلَّاbutكَانُوا۟theyعَنْهَاfrom itمُعْرِضِينَturn away٤٦

And no sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord except that they are from it turning away.

٣٦:٤٧

وَإِذَاAnd whenقِيلَit is saidلَهُمْto themأَنفِقُوا۟Spendمِمَّاfrom whatرَزَقَكُمُ(has) provided youٱللَّهُAllahقَالَSaidٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedلِلَّذِينَto those whoءَامَنُوٓا۟believedأَنُطْعِمُShould we feedمَنwhomلَّوْifيَشَآءُAllah willed ٱللَّهُAllah willed أَطْعَمَهُۥٓHe would have fed himإِنْNotأَنتُمْ(are) youإِلَّاexceptفِىinضَلَـٰلٍۢan errorمُّبِينٍۢclear٤٧

And when it is said to them, "Spend from that which Allāh has provided for you," those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Should we feed one whom, if Allāh had willed, He would have fed? You are not but in clear error."

٣٦:٤٨

وَيَقُولُونَAnd they sayمَتَىٰWhen (is)هَـٰذَاthisٱلْوَعْدُpromiseإِنifكُنتُمْyou areصَـٰدِقِينَtruthful٤٨

And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"

٣٦:٤٩

مَاNotيَنظُرُونَthey awaitإِلَّاexceptصَيْحَةًۭa shoutوَٰحِدَةًۭoneتَأْخُذُهُمْit will seize themوَهُمْwhile theyيَخِصِّمُونَare disputing٤٩

They do not await except one blast which will seize them while they are disputing.

٣٦:٥٠

فَلَاThen notيَسْتَطِيعُونَthey will be ableتَوْصِيَةًۭ(to) make a willوَلَآand notإِلَىٰٓtoأَهْلِهِمْtheir peopleيَرْجِعُونَthey (can) return٥٠

And they will not be able [to give] any instruction, nor to their people can they return.

٣٦:٥١

وَنُفِخَAnd will be blownفِى[in]ٱلصُّورِthe trumpetفَإِذَاand beholdهُمTheyمِّنَfromٱلْأَجْدَاثِthe gravesإِلَىٰtoرَبِّهِمْtheir Lordيَنسِلُونَ[they] will hasten٥١

And the Horn will be blown; and at once from the graves to their Lord they will hasten.

٣٦:٥٢

قَالُوا۟They [will] sayيَـٰوَيْلَنَاO woe to usمَنۢWhoبَعَثَنَاhas raised usمِنfromمَّرْقَدِنَا ۜ ۗour sleeping placeهَـٰذَاThis (is)مَاWhatوَعَدَ(had) promisedٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُthe Most Graciousوَصَدَقَand told (the) truthٱلْمُرْسَلُونَthe Messengers٥٢

They will say, "O woe to us! Who has raised us up from our sleeping place?" [The reply will be], "This is what the Most Merciful had promised, and the messengers told the truth."

٣٦:٥٣

إِنNotكَانَتْit will beإِلَّاbutصَيْحَةًۭa shoutوَٰحِدَةًۭsingleفَإِذَاso beholdهُمْTheyجَمِيعٌۭallلَّدَيْنَاbefore Usمُحْضَرُونَ(will be) brought٥٣

It will not be but one blast, and at once they are all brought present before Us.

٣٦:٥٤

فَٱلْيَوْمَSo this Dayلَاnotتُظْلَمُwill be wrongedنَفْسٌۭa soulشَيْـًۭٔا(in) anythingوَلَاand notتُجْزَوْنَyou will be recompensedإِلَّاexceptمَا(for) whatكُنتُمْyou used (to)تَعْمَلُونَdo٥٤

So today [i.e., the Day of Judgement] no soul will be wronged at all, and you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do.

٣٦:٥٥

إِنَّIndeedأَصْحَـٰبَ(the) companionsٱلْجَنَّةِ(of) Paradiseٱلْيَوْمَthis Dayفِى[in]شُغُلٍۢwill be occupiedفَـٰكِهُونَ(in) amusement٥٥

Indeed the companions of Paradise, that Day, will be amused in [joyful] occupation -

٣٦:٥٦

هُمْTheyوَأَزْوَٰجُهُمْand their spousesفِىinظِلَـٰلٍshadesعَلَىonٱلْأَرَآئِكِ[the] couchesمُتَّكِـُٔونَreclining٥٦

They and their spouses - in shade, reclining on adorned couches.

٣٦:٥٧

لَهُمْFor themفِيهَاthereinفَـٰكِهَةٌۭ(are) fruitsوَلَهُمand for themمَّا(is) whateverيَدَّعُونَthey call for٥٧

For them therein is fruit, and for them is whatever they request [or wish]

٣٦:٥٨

سَلَـٰمٌۭPeaceقَوْلًۭاA wordمِّنfromرَّبٍّۢa LordرَّحِيمٍۢMost Merciful٥٨

[And] "Peace," a word from a Merciful Lord.

٣٦:٥٩

وَٱمْتَـٰزُوا۟But stand apartٱلْيَوْمَtodayأَيُّهَاO criminalsٱلْمُجْرِمُونَO criminals٥٩

[Then He will say], "But stand apart today, you criminals.

٣٦:٦٠

۞ أَلَمْDid notأَعْهَدْI enjoinإِلَيْكُمْupon youيَـٰبَنِىٓO Children of AdamءَادَمَO Children of AdamأَنThatلَّا(do) notتَعْبُدُوا۟worshipٱلشَّيْطَـٰنَ ۖthe Shaitaanإِنَّهُۥindeed, heلَكُمْ(is) for youعَدُوٌّۭan enemyمُّبِينٌۭclear٦٠

Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of Adam, that you not worship Satan - [for] indeed, he is to you a clear enemy -

٣٦:٦١

وَأَنِAnd thatٱعْبُدُونِى ۚyou worship MeهَـٰذَاThisصِرَٰطٌۭ(is) a PathمُّسْتَقِيمٌۭStraight٦١

And that you worship [only] Me? This is a straight path.

٣٦:٦٢

وَلَقَدْAnd indeedأَضَلَّhe led astrayمِنكُمْfrom youجِبِلًّۭاa multitudeكَثِيرًا ۖgreatأَفَلَمْThen did notتَكُونُوا۟youتَعْقِلُونَuse reason٦٢

And he had already led astray from among you much of creation, so did you not use reason?

٣٦:٦٣

هَـٰذِهِۦThis (is)جَهَنَّمُ(the) Hellٱلَّتِىwhichكُنتُمْyou wereتُوعَدُونَpromised٦٣

This is the Hellfire which you were promised.

٣٦:٦٤

ٱصْلَوْهَاBurn thereinٱلْيَوْمَtodayبِمَاbecauseكُنتُمْyou used toتَكْفُرُونَdisbelieve٦٤

[Enter to] burn therein today for what you used to deny."1

٣٦:٦٥

ٱلْيَوْمَThis DayنَخْتِمُWe will sealعَلَىٰٓ[on]أَفْوَٰهِهِمْtheir mouthsوَتُكَلِّمُنَآand will speak to Usأَيْدِيهِمْtheir handsوَتَشْهَدُand will bear witnessأَرْجُلُهُمtheir feetبِمَاabout whatكَانُوا۟they used toيَكْسِبُونَearn٦٥

That Day, We will seal over their mouths, and their hands will speak to Us, and their feet will testify about what they used to earn.

٣٦:٦٦

وَلَوْAnd ifنَشَآءُWe willedلَطَمَسْنَاWe (would have) surely obliteratedعَلَىٰٓ[over]أَعْيُنِهِمْtheir eyesفَٱسْتَبَقُوا۟then they (would) raceٱلصِّرَٰطَ(to find) the pathفَأَنَّىٰthen howيُبْصِرُونَ(could) they see٦٦

And if We willed, We could have obliterated their eyes, and they would race to [find] the path, and how could they see?

٣٦:٦٧

وَلَوْAnd ifنَشَآءُWe willedلَمَسَخْنَـٰهُمْsurely, We (would have) transformed themعَلَىٰinمَكَانَتِهِمْtheir placesفَمَاthen notٱسْتَطَـٰعُوا۟they would have been ableمُضِيًّۭاto proceedوَلَاand notيَرْجِعُونَreturn٦٧

And if We willed, We could have deformed them, [paralyzing them] in their places so they would not be able to proceed, nor could they return.

٣٦:٦٨

وَمَنAnd (he) whomنُّعَمِّرْهُWe grant him long lifeنُنَكِّسْهُWe reverse himفِىinٱلْخَلْقِ ۖthe creationأَفَلَاThen will notيَعْقِلُونَthey use intellect٦٨

And he to whom We grant long life We reverse in creation; so will they not understand?

٣٦:٦٩

وَمَاAnd notعَلَّمْنَـٰهُWe taught himٱلشِّعْرَ[the] poetryوَمَاand notيَنۢبَغِىit is befittingلَهُۥٓ ۚfor himإِنْNotهُوَitإِلَّا(is) exceptذِكْرٌۭa Reminderوَقُرْءَانٌۭand a Quranمُّبِينٌۭclear٦٩

And We did not give him [i.e., Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)] knowledge of poetry, nor is it befitting for him. It is not but a message and a clear Qur’ān

٣٦:٧٠

لِّيُنذِرَTo warnمَن(him) whoكَانَisحَيًّۭاaliveوَيَحِقَّand may be proved trueٱلْقَوْلُthe Wordعَلَىagainstٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَthe disbelievers٧٠

To warn whoever is alive and justify the word [i.e., decree] against the disbelievers.

٣٦:٧١

أَوَلَمْDo notيَرَوْا۟they seeأَنَّاthat Weخَلَقْنَا[We] createdلَهُمfor themمِّمَّاfrom whatعَمِلَتْhave madeأَيْدِينَآOur handsأَنْعَـٰمًۭاcattleفَهُمْthen theyلَهَا[for them]مَـٰلِكُونَ(are the) owners٧١

Do they not see that We have created for them from what Our hands have made, grazing livestock, and [then] they are their owners?

٣٦:٧٢

وَذَلَّلْنَـٰهَاAnd We have tamed themلَهُمْfor themفَمِنْهَاso some of them رَكُوبُهُمْthey ride themوَمِنْهَاand some of themيَأْكُلُونَthey eat٧٢

And We have tamed them for them, so some of them they ride, and some of them they eat.

٣٦:٧٣

وَلَهُمْAnd for themفِيهَاthereinمَنَـٰفِعُ(are) benefitsوَمَشَارِبُ ۖand drinksأَفَلَاso (will) notيَشْكُرُونَthey give thanks٧٣

And for them therein are [other] benefits and drinks, so will they not be grateful?

٣٦:٧٤

وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟But they have takenمِنbesidesدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahءَالِهَةًۭgodsلَّعَلَّهُمْthat they mayيُنصَرُونَbe helped٧٤

But they have taken besides Allāh [false] deities that perhaps they would be helped.

٣٦:٧٥

لَاNotيَسْتَطِيعُونَthey are ableنَصْرَهُمْto help themوَهُمْbut they لَهُمْfor themجُندٌۭ(are) hostsمُّحْضَرُونَ(who will) be brought٧٥

They are not able to help them, and they [themselves] are for them soldiers in attendance.

٣٦:٧٦

فَلَاSo (let) notيَحْزُنكَgrieve youقَوْلُهُمْ ۘtheir speechإِنَّاIndeed, Weنَعْلَمُ[We] knowمَاwhatيُسِرُّونَthey concealوَمَاand whatيُعْلِنُونَthey declare٧٦

So let not their speech grieve you. Indeed, We know what they conceal and what they declare.

٣٦:٧٧

أَوَلَمْDoes notيَرَseeٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ[the] manأَنَّاthat Weخَلَقْنَـٰهُ[We] created himمِنfromنُّطْفَةٍۢa semen-dropفَإِذَاThen beholdهُوَHeخَصِيمٌۭ(is) an opponentمُّبِينٌۭclear٧٧

Does man not consider that We created him from a [mere] sperm-drop - then at once he is a clear adversary?

٣٦:٧٨

وَضَرَبَAnd he sets forthلَنَاfor Usمَثَلًۭاan exampleوَنَسِىَand forgetsخَلْقَهُۥ ۖhis (own) creationقَالَHe saysمَنWhoيُحْىِwill give lifeٱلْعِظَـٰمَ(to) the bonesوَهِىَwhile theyرَمِيمٌۭ(are) decomposed٧٨

And he presents for Us an example and forgets his [own] creation. He says, "Who will give life to bones while they are disintegrated?"

٣٦:٧٩

قُلْSayيُحْيِيهَاHe will give them lifeٱلَّذِىٓWhoأَنشَأَهَآproduced themأَوَّلَ(the) firstمَرَّةٍۢ ۖtimeوَهُوَand Heبِكُلِّ(is) of everyخَلْقٍcreationعَلِيمٌAll-Knower٧٩

Say, "He will give them life who produced them the first time; and He is, of all creation, Knowing."

٣٦:٨٠

ٱلَّذِىThe One Whoجَعَلَmadeلَكُمfor youمِّنَfromٱلشَّجَرِthe treeٱلْأَخْضَرِ[the] green نَارًۭاfireفَإِذَآand beholdأَنتُمYouمِّنْهُfrom itتُوقِدُونَignite٨٠

[It is] He who made for you from the green tree, fire, and then from it you ignite.

٣٦:٨١

أَوَلَيْسَIs it notٱلَّذِى(He) Whoخَلَقَcreatedٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَand the earthبِقَـٰدِرٍAbleعَلَىٰٓtoأَن[that]يَخْلُقَcreateمِثْلَهُم ۚ(the) like of themبَلَىٰYes, indeedوَهُوَand Heٱلْخَلَّـٰقُ(is) the Supreme Creatorٱلْعَلِيمُthe All-Knower٨١

Is not He who created the heavens and the earth Able to create the likes of them? Yes, [it is so]; and He is the Knowing Creator.

٣٦:٨٢

إِنَّمَآOnlyأَمْرُهُۥٓHis CommandإِذَآwhenأَرَادَHe intendsشَيْـًٔاa thingأَنthatيَقُولَHe saysلَهُۥto itكُنBeفَيَكُونُand it is٨٢

His command is only when He intends a thing that He says to it, "Be," and it is.

٣٦:٨٣

فَسُبْحَـٰنَSo glory beٱلَّذِى(to) the One whoبِيَدِهِۦin Whose handمَلَكُوتُis (the) dominionكُلِّ(of) allشَىْءٍۢthingsوَإِلَيْهِand to Himتُرْجَعُونَyou will be returned٨٣

So exalted is He in whose hand is the realm of all things, and to Him you will be returned.
