الشمس

سورة الشمس (الشمس) هي السورة رقم ٩١ في القرآن الكريم — وهي سورة مكية تتألف من ١٥ آية. السور المكية نزلت قبل هجرة النبي محمد ﷺ إلى المدينة، وتركّز غالبًا على الإيمان وتوحيد الله والآخرة.

بِسْمِIn (the) namebis'miٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousl-raḥmāniٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmi
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
٩١:١
وَٱلشَّمْسِBy the sunwal-shamsiوَضُحَىٰهَاand its brightnesswaḍuḥāhā١
By the sun and its brightness
٩١:٢
وَٱلْقَمَرِAnd the moonwal-qamariإِذَاwhenidhāتَلَىٰهَاit follows ittalāhā٢
And [by] the moon when it follows it
٩١:٣
وَٱلنَّهَارِAnd the daywal-nahāriإِذَاwhenidhāجَلَّىٰهَاit displays itjallāhā٣
And [by] the day when it displays it
٩١:٤
وَٱلَّيْلِAnd the nightwa-al-layliإِذَاwhenidhāيَغْشَىٰهَاit covers ityaghshāhā٤
And [by] the night when it covers [i.e., conceals] it
٩١:٥
وَٱلسَّمَآءِAnd the heavenwal-samāiوَمَاand (He) Whowamāبَنَىٰهَاconstructed itbanāhā٥
And [by] the sky and He who constructed it
٩١:٦
وَٱلْأَرْضِAnd the earthwal-arḍiوَمَاand by (He) Whowamāطَحَىٰهَاspread itṭaḥāhā٦
And [by] the earth and He who spread it
٩١:٧
وَنَفْسٍۢAnd (the) soulwanafsinوَمَاand (He) Whowamāسَوَّىٰهَاproportioned itsawwāhā٧
And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it
٩١:٨
فَأَلْهَمَهَاAnd He inspired itfa-alhamahāفُجُورَهَا(to distinguish) its wickednessfujūrahāوَتَقْوَىٰهَاand its righteousnesswataqwāhā٨
And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness,
٩١:٩
قَدْIndeedqadأَفْلَحَhe succeedsaflaḥaمَنwhomanزَكَّىٰهَاpurifies itzakkāhā٩
He has succeeded who purifies it,
٩١:١٠
وَقَدْAnd indeedwaqadخَابَhe failskhābaمَنwhomanدَسَّىٰهَاburies itdassāhā١٠
And he has failed who instills it [with corruption].
٩١:١١
كَذَّبَتْDeniedkadhabatثَمُودُThamudthamūduبِطَغْوَىٰهَآby their transgressionbiṭaghwāhā١١
Thamūd denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression,
٩١:١٢
إِذِWhenidhiٱنۢبَعَثَ(was) sent forthinbaʿathaأَشْقَىٰهَا(the) most wicked of themashqāhā١٢
When the most wretched of them was sent forth.
٩١:١٣
فَقَالَBut saidfaqālaلَهُمْto themlahumرَسُولُ(the) Messengerrasūluٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiنَاقَةَ(It is the) she-camelnāqataٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiوَسُقْيَـٰهَاand her drinkwasuq'yāhā١٣
And the messenger of Allāh [i.e., Ṣāliḥ] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allāh or [prevent her from] her drink."
٩١:١٤
فَكَذَّبُوهُBut they denied himfakadhabūhuفَعَقَرُوهَاand they hamstrung herfaʿaqarūhāفَدَمْدَمَSo destroyedfadamdamaعَلَيْهِمْthemʿalayhimرَبُّهُمtheir Lordrabbuhumبِذَنۢبِهِمْfor their sinbidhanbihimفَسَوَّىٰهَاand leveled themfasawwāhā١٤
But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them].
٩١:١٥
وَلَاAnd notwalāيَخَافُHe fearsyakhāfuعُقْبَـٰهَاits consequencesʿuq'bāhā١٥
And He does not fear the consequence thereof.
