بسملة

بِسْمِIn (the) nameٱللَّهِ(of) Allahٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

٥٢:١

وَٱلطُّورِBy the Mount١

By the mount

٥٢:٢

وَكِتَـٰبٍۢAnd by (the) Bookمَّسْطُورٍۢwritten٢

And [by] a Book inscribed

٥٢:٣

فِىInرَقٍّۢparchmentمَّنشُورٍۢunrolled٣

In parchment spread open

٥٢:٤

وَٱلْبَيْتِBy the Houseٱلْمَعْمُورِfrequented٤

And [by] the frequented House

٥٢:٥

وَٱلسَّقْفِBy the roofٱلْمَرْفُوعِraised high٥

And [by] the ceiling [i.e., heaven] raised high

٥٢:٦

وَٱلْبَحْرِBy the seaٱلْمَسْجُورِfilled٦

And [by] the sea set on fire,

٥٢:٧

إِنَّIndeedعَذَابَ(the) punishmentرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordلَوَٰقِعٌۭ(will) surely occur٧

Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur.

٥٢:٨

مَّاNotلَهُۥfor itمِنanyدَافِعٍۢpreventer٨

Of it there is no preventer.

٥٢:٩

يَوْمَ(On the) Dayتَمُورُwill shakeٱلسَّمَآءُthe heavenمَوْرًۭا(with violent) shake٩

On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion

٥٢:١٠

وَتَسِيرُAnd will move awayٱلْجِبَالُthe mountainsسَيْرًۭا(with an awful) movement١٠

And the mountains will pass on, departing -

٥٢:١١

فَوَيْلٌۭThen woeيَوْمَئِذٍۢthat Dayلِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَto the deniers١١

Then woe, that Day, to the deniers,

٥٢:١٢

ٱلَّذِينَWhoهُمْ[they]فِىinخَوْضٍۢ(vain) discourseيَلْعَبُونَare playing١٢

Who are in [empty] discourse amusing themselves.

٥٢:١٣

يَوْمَ(The) Dayيُدَعُّونَthey will be thrustإِلَىٰ(in)toنَارِ(the) Fireجَهَنَّمَ(of) Hellدَعًّا(with) a thrust١٣

The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say],

٥٢:١٤

هَـٰذِهِThisٱلنَّارُ(is) the Fireٱلَّتِىwhichكُنتُمyou used toبِهَا[of it]تُكَذِّبُونَdeny١٤

"This is the Fire which you used to deny.

٥٢:١٥

أَفَسِحْرٌThen is this magicهَـٰذَآThen is this magicأَمْorأَنتُمْyouلَا(do) notتُبْصِرُونَsee١٥

Then is this magic, or do you not see?

٥٢:١٦

ٱصْلَوْهَاBurn in itفَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟then be patientأَوْorلَا(do) notتَصْبِرُوا۟be patientسَوَآءٌ(it is) sameعَلَيْكُمْ ۖfor youإِنَّمَاOnlyتُجْزَوْنَyou are being recompensedمَا(for) whatكُنتُمْyou used toتَعْمَلُونَdo١٦

[Enter to] burn therein; then be patient or impatient - it is all the same for you. You are only being recompensed [for] what you used to do."

٥٢:١٧

إِنَّIndeedٱلْمُتَّقِينَthe righteousفِى(will be) inجَنَّـٰتٍۢGardensوَنَعِيمٍۢand pleasure١٧

Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure,

٥٢:١٨

فَـٰكِهِينَEnjoyingبِمَآin whatءَاتَىٰهُمْhas given themرَبُّهُمْtheir Lordوَوَقَىٰهُمْand protected themرَبُّهُمْtheir Lordعَذَابَ(from the) punishmentٱلْجَحِيمِ(of) Hellfire١٨

Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire.

٥٢:١٩

كُلُوا۟Eatوَٱشْرَبُوا۟and drinkهَنِيٓـًٔۢا(in) satisfactionبِمَاfor whatكُنتُمْyou used toتَعْمَلُونَdo١٩

[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do."

٥٢:٢٠

مُتَّكِـِٔينَRecliningعَلَىٰonسُرُرٍۢthronesمَّصْفُوفَةٍۢ ۖlined upوَزَوَّجْنَـٰهُمand We will marry themبِحُورٍto fair onesعِينٍۢ(with) large eyes٢٠

They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes.

٥٢:٢١

وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoءَامَنُوا۟believedوَٱتَّبَعَتْهُمْand followed themذُرِّيَّتُهُمtheir offspringبِإِيمَـٰنٍin faithأَلْحَقْنَاWe will joinبِهِمْwith themذُرِّيَّتَهُمْtheir offspringوَمَآand notأَلَتْنَـٰهُمWe will deprive themمِّنْofعَمَلِهِمtheir deedsمِّن(in) anyشَىْءٍۢ ۚthingكُلُّEveryٱمْرِئٍۭpersonبِمَاfor whatكَسَبَhe earnedرَهِينٌۭ(is) pledged٢١

And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained.

٥٢:٢٢

وَأَمْدَدْنَـٰهُمAnd We will provide themبِفَـٰكِهَةٍۢwith fruitوَلَحْمٍۢand meatمِّمَّاfrom whatيَشْتَهُونَthey desire٢٢

And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire.

٥٢:٢٣

يَتَنَـٰزَعُونَThey will pass to one anotherفِيهَاthereinكَأْسًۭاa cupلَّاnoلَغْوٌۭill speechفِيهَاthereinوَلَاand noتَأْثِيمٌۭsin٢٣

They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin.

٥٢:٢٤

۞ وَيَطُوفُAnd will circulateعَلَيْهِمْamong themغِلْمَانٌۭboysلَّهُمْfor themكَأَنَّهُمْas if they (were)لُؤْلُؤٌۭpearlsمَّكْنُونٌۭwell-protected٢٤

There will circulate among them [servant] boys [especially] for them, as if they were pearls well-protected.

٥٢:٢٥

وَأَقْبَلَAnd will approachبَعْضُهُمْsome of themعَلَىٰtoبَعْضٍۢothersيَتَسَآءَلُونَinquiring٢٥

And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other.

٥٢:٢٦

قَالُوٓا۟They will sayإِنَّاIndeed, weكُنَّا[we] wereقَبْلُbeforeفِىٓamongأَهْلِنَاour familiesمُشْفِقِينَfearful٢٦

They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allāh].

٥٢:٢٧

فَمَنَّBut Allah conferred favorٱللَّهُBut Allah conferred favorعَلَيْنَاupon usوَوَقَىٰنَاand protected usعَذَابَ(from the) punishmentٱلسَّمُومِ(of) the Scorching Fire٢٧

So Allāh conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire.

٥٢:٢٨

إِنَّاIndeed, weكُنَّا[we] used toمِنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeنَدْعُوهُ ۖcall HimإِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heهُوَ[He]ٱلْبَرُّ(is) the Most Kindٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful٢٨

Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful."

٥٢:٢٩

فَذَكِّرْTherefore remindفَمَآfor notأَنتَyouبِنِعْمَتِ(are) by (the) graceرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordبِكَاهِنٍۢa soothsayerوَلَاand notمَجْنُونٍa madman٢٩

So remind, [O Muḥammad], for you are not, by the favor of your Lord, a soothsayer or a madman.

٥٢:٣٠

أَمْOrيَقُولُونَ(do) they sayشَاعِرٌۭA poetنَّتَرَبَّصُwe waitبِهِۦfor himرَيْبَa misfortune of timeٱلْمَنُونِa misfortune of time٣٠

Or do they say [of you], "A poet for whom we await a misfortune of time"?

٥٢:٣١

قُلْSayتَرَبَّصُوا۟Waitفَإِنِّىfor indeed I amمَعَكُمwith youمِّنَamongٱلْمُتَرَبِّصِينَthose who wait٣١

Say, "Wait, for indeed I am, with you, among the waiters."

٥٢:٣٢

أَمْOrتَأْمُرُهُمْcommand themأَحْلَـٰمُهُمtheir mindsبِهَـٰذَآ ۚthisأَمْorهُمْtheyقَوْمٌۭ(are) a peopleطَاغُونَtransgressing٣٢

Or do their minds command them to [say] this, or are they a transgressing people?

٥٢:٣٣

أَمْOrيَقُولُونَ(do) they sayتَقَوَّلَهُۥ ۚHe has made it upبَلNayلَّاnotيُؤْمِنُونَthey believe٣٣

Or do they say, "He has made it up"? Rather, they do not believe.

٥٢:٣٤

فَلْيَأْتُوا۟Then let them bringبِحَدِيثٍۢa statementمِّثْلِهِۦٓlike itإِنifكَانُوا۟they areصَـٰدِقِينَtruthful٣٤

Then let them produce a statement like it, if they should be truthful.

٥٢:٣٥

أَمْOrخُلِقُوا۟they were createdمِنْofغَيْرِnothingشَىْءٍnothingأَمْorهُمُ(are) theyٱلْخَـٰلِقُونَthe creators٣٥

Or were they created by nothing, or were they the creators [of themselves]?

٥٢:٣٦

أَمْOrخَلَقُوا۟(did) they createٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَ ۚand the earthبَلNayلَّاnotيُوقِنُونَthey are certain٣٦

Or did they create the heavens and the earth? Rather, they are not certain.

٥٢:٣٧

أَمْOrعِندَهُمْwith themخَزَآئِنُ(are the) treasuresرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordأَمْorهُمُ(are) theyٱلْمُصَۣيْطِرُونَthe controllers٣٧

Or have they the depositories [containing the provision] of your Lord? Or are they the controllers [of them]?

٥٢:٣٨

أَمْOrلَهُمْfor themسُلَّمٌۭ(is) a stairwayيَسْتَمِعُونَthey listenفِيهِ ۖtherewithفَلْيَأْتِThen let bringمُسْتَمِعُهُمtheir listenerبِسُلْطَـٰنٍۢan authorityمُّبِينٍclear٣٨

Or have they a stairway [into the heaven] upon which they listen? Then let their listener produce a clear authority [i.e., proof].

٥٢:٣٩

أَمْOrلَهُfor Himٱلْبَنَـٰتُ(are) daughtersوَلَكُمُwhile for youٱلْبَنُونَ(are) sons٣٩

Or has He daughters while you have sons?

٥٢:٤٠

أَمْOrتَسْـَٔلُهُمْ(do) you ask from themأَجْرًۭاa paymentفَهُمso theyمِّنfromمَّغْرَمٍۢa debtمُّثْقَلُونَ(are) overburdened٤٠

Or do you, [O Muḥammad], ask of them a payment, so they are by debt burdened down?

٥٢:٤١

أَمْOrعِندَهُمُwith themٱلْغَيْبُ(is) the unseenفَهُمْso theyيَكْتُبُونَwrite (it) down٤١

Or have they [knowledge of] the unseen, so they write [it] down?

٥٢:٤٢

أَمْOrيُرِيدُونَ(do) they intendكَيْدًۭا ۖa plotفَٱلَّذِينَBut those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveهُمُthemselvesٱلْمَكِيدُونَ(are in) the plot٤٢

Or do they intend a plan? But those who disbelieve - they are the object of a plan.

٥٢:٤٣

أَمْOrلَهُمْfor themإِلَـٰهٌa godغَيْرُother thanٱللَّهِ ۚAllahسُبْحَـٰنَGlory beٱللَّهِ(to) Allahعَمَّاfrom whatيُشْرِكُونَthey associate (with Him)٤٣

Or have they a deity other than Allāh? Exalted is Allāh above whatever they associate with Him.

٥٢:٤٤

وَإِنAnd ifيَرَوْا۟they were to seeكِسْفًۭاa portionمِّنَfromٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyسَاقِطًۭاfallingيَقُولُوا۟they will sayسَحَابٌۭCloudsمَّرْكُومٌۭheaped up٤٤

And if they were to see a fragment from the sky falling, they would say, "[It is merely] clouds heaped up."

٥٢:٤٥

فَذَرْهُمْSo leave themحَتَّىٰuntilيُلَـٰقُوا۟they meetيَوْمَهُمُtheir Dayٱلَّذِىwhichفِيهِin itيُصْعَقُونَthey will faint٤٥

So leave them until they meet their Day in which they will be struck insensible -

٥٢:٤٦

يَوْمَ(The) Dayلَاnotيُغْنِىwill availعَنْهُمْto themكَيْدُهُمْtheir plottingشَيْـًۭٔا(in) anythingوَلَاand notهُمْtheyيُنصَرُونَwill be helped٤٦

The Day their plan will not avail them at all, nor will they be helped.

٥٢:٤٧

وَإِنَّAnd indeedلِلَّذِينَfor those whoظَلَمُوا۟do wrongعَذَابًۭا(is) a punishmentدُونَbeforeذَٰلِكَthatوَلَـٰكِنَّbutأَكْثَرَهُمْmost of themلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَknow٤٧

And indeed, for those who have wronged is a punishment before that, but most of them do not know.

٥٢:٤٨

وَٱصْبِرْSo be patientلِحُكْمِfor (the) Commandرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordفَإِنَّكَfor indeed, youبِأَعْيُنِنَا ۖ(are) in Our EyesوَسَبِّحْAnd glorifyبِحَمْدِ(the) praiseرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordحِينَwhenتَقُومُyou arise٤٨

And be patient, [O Muḥammad], for the decision of your Lord, for indeed, you are in Our eyes [i.e., sight]. And exalt [Allāh] with praise of your Lord when you arise

٥٢:٤٩

وَمِنَAnd ofٱلَّيْلِthe nightفَسَبِّحْهُglorify Himوَإِدْبَـٰرَand afterٱلنُّجُومِthe stars٤٩

And in a part of the night exalt Him and after [the setting of] the stars.
