الزخرف

سورة الزخرف (الزخرف) هي السورة رقم ٤٣ في القرآن الكريم — وهي سورة مكية تتألف من ٨٩ آية. السور المكية نزلت قبل هجرة النبي محمد ﷺ إلى المدينة، وتركّز غالبًا على الإيمان وتوحيد الله والآخرة.

بِسْمِIn (the) namebis'miٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousl-raḥmāniٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmi
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
٤٣:١
حمٓHa Meemhha-meem١
Ḥā, Meem.
٤٣:٢
وَٱلْكِتَـٰبِBy the Bookwal-kitābiٱلْمُبِينِthe clearl-mubīni٢
By the clear Book,
٤٣:٣
إِنَّاIndeed, Weinnāجَعَلْنَـٰهُ(have) made itjaʿalnāhuقُرْءَٰنًاa Quranqur'ānanعَرَبِيًّۭا(in) Arabicʿarabiyyanلَّعَلَّكُمْso that you maylaʿallakumتَعْقِلُونَunderstandtaʿqilūna٣
Indeed, We have made it an Arabic Qur’ān that you might understand.
٤٣:٤
وَإِنَّهُۥAnd indeed, itwa-innahuفِىٓ(is) inأُمِّ(the) Motherummiٱلْكِتَـٰبِ(of) the Bookl-kitābiلَدَيْنَاwith Usladaynāلَعَلِىٌّsurely exaltedlaʿaliyyunحَكِيمٌfull of wisdomḥakīmun٤
And indeed it is, in the Mother of the Book with Us, exalted and full of wisdom.
٤٣:٥
أَفَنَضْرِبُThen should We take awayafanaḍribuعَنكُمُfrom youʿankumuٱلذِّكْرَthe Reminderl-dhik'raصَفْحًاdisregarding (you)ṣafḥanأَنbecauseanكُنتُمْyou arekuntumقَوْمًۭاa peopleqawmanمُّسْرِفِينَtransgressingmus'rifīna٥
Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people?
٤٣:٦
وَكَمْAnd how manywakamأَرْسَلْنَاWe sentarsalnāمِنofminنَّبِىٍّۢa Prophetnabiyyinفِىamongٱلْأَوَّلِينَthe former (people)l-awalīna٦
And how many a prophet We sent among the former peoples,
٤٣:٧
وَمَاAnd notwamāيَأْتِيهِمcame to themyatīhimمِّنany Prophetminنَّبِىٍّany Prophetnabiyyinإِلَّاbutillāكَانُوا۟they used tokānūبِهِۦmock at himbihiيَسْتَهْزِءُونَmock at himyastahziūna٧
But there would not come to them a prophet except that they used to ridicule him.
٤٣:٨
فَأَهْلَكْنَآThen We destroyedfa-ahlaknāأَشَدَّstrongerashaddaمِنْهُمthan themmin'humبَطْشًۭا(in) powerbaṭshanوَمَضَىٰand has passedwamaḍāمَثَلُ(the) examplemathaluٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) the former (people)l-awalīna٨
And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded.
٤٣:٩
وَلَئِنAnd ifwala-inسَأَلْتَهُمyou ask themsa-altahumمَّنْWhomanخَلَقَcreatedkhalaqaٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِthe heavensl-samāwātiوَٱلْأَرْضَand the earthwal-arḍaلَيَقُولُنَّThey will surely saylayaqūlunnaخَلَقَهُنَّCreated themkhalaqahunnaٱلْعَزِيزُthe All-Mightyl-ʿazīzuٱلْعَلِيمُthe All-Knowerl-ʿalīmu٩
And if you should ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?" they would surely say, "They were created by the Exalted in Might, the Knowing,"
٤٣:١٠
ٱلَّذِىThe One Whoalladhīجَعَلَmadejaʿalaلَكُمُfor youlakumuٱلْأَرْضَthe earthl-arḍaمَهْدًۭاa bedmahdanوَجَعَلَand madewajaʿalaلَكُمْfor youlakumفِيهَاthereinfīhāسُبُلًۭاroadssubulanلَّعَلَّكُمْso that you maylaʿallakumتَهْتَدُونَ(be) guidedtahtadūna١٠
[The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided
٤٣:١١
وَٱلَّذِىAnd the One Whowa-alladhīنَزَّلَsends downnazzalaمِنَfromminaٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyl-samāiمَآءًۢwatermāanبِقَدَرٍۢin (due) measurebiqadarinفَأَنشَرْنَاthen We revivefa-ansharnāبِهِۦwith itbihiبَلْدَةًۭa landbaldatanمَّيْتًۭا ۚdeadmaytanكَذَٰلِكَthuskadhālikaتُخْرَجُونَyou will be brought forthtukh'rajūna١١
And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth -
٤٣:١٢
وَٱلَّذِىAnd the One Whowa-alladhīخَلَقَcreatedkhalaqaٱلْأَزْوَٰجَthe pairsl-azwājaكُلَّهَاall of themkullahāوَجَعَلَand madewajaʿalaلَكُمfor youlakumمِّنَ[of]minaٱلْفُلْكِthe shipsl-ful'kiوَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِand the cattlewal-anʿāmiمَاwhatتَرْكَبُونَyou ridetarkabūna١٢
And who created the species, all of them, and has made for you of ships and animals those which you mount
٤٣:١٣
لِتَسْتَوُۥا۟That you may sit firmlylitastawūعَلَىٰonʿalāظُهُورِهِۦtheir backsẓuhūrihiثُمَّthenthummaتَذْكُرُوا۟remembertadhkurūنِعْمَةَ(the) favorniʿ'mataرَبِّكُمْ(of) your Lordrabbikumإِذَاwhenidhāٱسْتَوَيْتُمْyou sit firmlyis'tawaytumعَلَيْهِon themʿalayhiوَتَقُولُوا۟and saywataqūlūسُبْحَـٰنَGlory be (to)sub'ḥānaٱلَّذِىthe One Whoalladhīسَخَّرَ(has) subjectedsakharaلَنَاto uslanāهَـٰذَاthishādhāوَمَاand notwamāكُنَّاwe werekunnāلَهُۥof itlahuمُقْرِنِينَcapablemuq'rinīna١٣
That you may settle yourselves upon their backs and then remember the favor of your Lord when you have settled upon them and say, "Exalted is He who has subjected this to us, and we could not have [otherwise] subdued it.
٤٣:١٤
وَإِنَّآAnd indeed, wewa-innāإِلَىٰtoilāرَبِّنَاour Lordrabbināلَمُنقَلِبُونَwill surely returnlamunqalibūna١٤
And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return."
٤٣:١٥
وَجَعَلُوا۟But they attributewajaʿalūلَهُۥto HimlahuمِنْfromminعِبَادِهِۦHis slavesʿibādihiجُزْءًا ۚa portionjuz'anإِنَّIndeedinnaٱلْإِنسَـٰنَmanl-insānaلَكَفُورٌۭsurely (is) clearly ungratefullakafūrunمُّبِينٌsurely (is) clearly ungratefulmubīnun١٥
But they have attributed to Him from His servants a portion. Indeed, man is clearly ungrateful.
٤٣:١٦
أَمِOramiٱتَّخَذَhas He takenittakhadhaمِمَّاof whatmimmāيَخْلُقُHe has createdyakhluquبَنَاتٍۢdaughtersbanātinوَأَصْفَىٰكُمand He has chosen (for) youwa-aṣfākumبِٱلْبَنِينَsonsbil-banīna١٦
Or has He taken, out of what He has created, daughters and chosen you for [having] sons?
٤٣:١٧
وَإِذَاAnd whenwa-idhāبُشِّرَis given good newsbushiraأَحَدُهُم(to) one of themaḥaduhumبِمَاof whatbimāضَرَبَhe sets upḍarabaلِلرَّحْمَـٰنِfor the Most Graciouslilrraḥmāniمَثَلًۭا(as) a likenessmathalanظَلَّbecomesẓallaوَجْهُهُۥhis facewajhuhuمُسْوَدًّۭاdarkmus'waddanوَهُوَand hewahuwaكَظِيمٌ(is) filled with griefkaẓīmun١٧
And when one of them is given good tidings of that which he attributes to the Most Merciful in comparison [i.e., a daughter], his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.
٤٣:١٨
أَوَمَنThen (is one) whoawamanيُنَشَّؤُا۟is brought upyunasha-uفِىinٱلْحِلْيَةِornamentsl-ḥil'yatiوَهُوَand hewahuwaفِىinٱلْخِصَامِthe disputel-khiṣāmiغَيْرُ(is) notghayruمُبِينٍۢclearmubīnin١٨
So is one brought up in ornaments while being during conflict unevident [attributed to Allāh]?
٤٣:١٩
وَجَعَلُوا۟And they madewajaʿalūٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَthe Angelsl-malāikataٱلَّذِينَthose whoalladhīnaهُمْthemselveshumعِبَـٰدُ(are) slavesʿibāduٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ(of) the Most Graciousl-raḥmāniإِنَـٰثًا ۚfemalesināthanأَشَهِدُوا۟Did they witnessashahidūخَلْقَهُمْ ۚtheir creationkhalqahumسَتُكْتَبُWill be recordedsatuk'tabuشَهَـٰدَتُهُمْtheir testimonyshahādatuhumوَيُسْـَٔلُونَand they will be questionedwayus'alūna١٩
And they described the angels, who are servants of the Most Merciful, as females. Did they witness their creation? Their testimony will be recorded, and they will be questioned.
٤٣:٢٠
وَقَالُوا۟And they saywaqālūلَوْIflawشَآءَhad willedshāaٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُthe Most Graciousl-raḥmānuمَاwe would not have worshipped themعَبَدْنَـٰهُم ۗwe would not have worshipped themʿabadnāhumمَّاNotلَهُمthey havelahumبِذَٰلِكَabout thatbidhālikaمِنْanyminعِلْمٍ ۖknowledgeʿil'minإِنْNothinginهُمْthey (do)humإِلَّاbutillāيَخْرُصُونَlieyakhruṣūna٢٠
And they said, "If the Most Merciful had willed, we would not have worshipped them." They have of that no knowledge. They are not but misjudging.
٤٣:٢١
أَمْOramءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْhave We given themātaynāhumكِتَـٰبًۭاa bookkitābanمِّنbefore itminقَبْلِهِۦbefore itqablihiفَهُمso theyfahumبِهِۦto itbihiمُسْتَمْسِكُونَ(are) holding fastmus'tamsikūna٢١
Or have We given them a book before it [i.e., the Qur’ān] to which they are adhering?
٤٣:٢٢
بَلْNaybalقَالُوٓا۟they sayqālūإِنَّاIndeed, weinnāوَجَدْنَآ[we] foundwajadnāءَابَآءَنَاour forefathersābāanāعَلَىٰٓuponʿalāأُمَّةٍۢa religionummatinوَإِنَّاand indeed, wewa-innāعَلَىٰٓonʿalāءَاثَـٰرِهِمtheir footstepsāthārihimمُّهْتَدُونَ(are) guidedmuh'tadūna٢٢
Rather, they say, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are in their footsteps [rightly] guided."
٤٣:٢٣
وَكَذَٰلِكَAnd thuswakadhālikaمَآnotأَرْسَلْنَاWe sentarsalnāمِنbefore youminقَبْلِكَbefore youqablikaفِىinقَرْيَةٍۢa townqaryatinمِّنanyminنَّذِيرٍwarnernadhīrinإِلَّاexceptillāقَالَsaidqālaمُتْرَفُوهَآ(the) wealthy ones of itmut'rafūhāإِنَّاIndeed, weinnāوَجَدْنَآ[we] foundwajadnāءَابَآءَنَاour forefathersābāanāعَلَىٰٓonʿalāأُمَّةٍۢa religionummatinوَإِنَّاand indeed, wewa-innāعَلَىٰٓ[on]ʿalāءَاثَـٰرِهِمtheir footstepsāthārihimمُّقْتَدُونَ(are) followingmuq'tadūna٢٣
And similarly, We did not send before you any warner into a city except that its affluent said, "Indeed, we found our fathers upon a religion, and we are, in their footsteps, following."
٤٣:٢٤
۞ قَـٰلَHe saidqālaأَوَلَوْEven ifawalawجِئْتُكُمI brought youji'tukumبِأَهْدَىٰbetter guidancebi-ahdāمِمَّاthan whatmimmāوَجَدتُّمْyou foundwajadttumعَلَيْهِon itʿalayhiءَابَآءَكُمْ ۖyour forefathersābāakumقَالُوٓا۟They saidqālūإِنَّاIndeed, weinnāبِمَآwith whatbimāأُرْسِلْتُمyou are sentur'sil'tumبِهِۦwith [it]bihiكَـٰفِرُونَ(are) disbelieverskāfirūna٢٤
[Each warner] said, "Even if I brought you better guidance than that [religion] upon which you found your fathers?" They said, "Indeed we, in that with which you were sent, are disbelievers."
٤٣:٢٥
فَٱنتَقَمْنَاSo We took retributionfa-intaqamnāمِنْهُمْ ۖfrom themmin'humفَٱنظُرْThen seefa-unẓurكَيْفَhowkayfaكَانَwaskānaعَـٰقِبَةُ(the) endʿāqibatuٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ(of) the deniersl-mukadhibīna٢٥
So We took retribution from them; then see how was the end of the deniers.
٤٣:٢٦
وَإِذْAnd whenwa-idhقَالَIbrahim SaidqālaإِبْرَٰهِيمُIbrahim Saidib'rāhīmuلِأَبِيهِto his fatherli-abīhiوَقَوْمِهِۦٓand his peoplewaqawmihiإِنَّنِىIndeed, I (am)innanīبَرَآءٌۭdisassociatedbarāonمِّمَّاfrom whatmimmāتَعْبُدُونَyou worshiptaʿbudūna٢٦
And [mention, O Muḥammad], when Abraham said to his father and his people, "Indeed, I am disassociated from that which you worship
٤٣:٢٧
إِلَّاExceptillāٱلَّذِىthe One Whoalladhīفَطَرَنِىcreated mefaṭaranīفَإِنَّهُۥand indeed, Hefa-innahuسَيَهْدِينِwill guide mesayahdīni٢٧
Except for He who created me; and indeed, He will guide me."
٤٣:٢٨
وَجَعَلَهَاAnd he made itwajaʿalahāكَلِمَةًۢa wordkalimatanبَاقِيَةًۭlastingbāqiyatanفِىamongعَقِبِهِۦhis descendentsʿaqibihiلَعَلَّهُمْso that they maylaʿallahumيَرْجِعُونَreturnyarjiʿūna٢٨
And he made it a word remaining among his descendants that they might return [to it].
٤٣:٢٩
بَلْNaybalمَتَّعْتُI gave enjoymentmattaʿtuهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ(to) thesehāulāiوَءَابَآءَهُمْand their forefatherswaābāahumحَتَّىٰuntilḥattāجَآءَهُمُcame to themjāahumuٱلْحَقُّthe truthl-ḥaquوَرَسُولٌۭand a Messengerwarasūlunمُّبِينٌۭclearmubīnun٢٩
However, I gave enjoyment to these [people of Makkah] and their fathers until there came to them the truth and a clear Messenger.
٤٣:٣٠
وَلَمَّاAnd whenwalammāجَآءَهُمُcame to themjāahumuٱلْحَقُّthe truthl-ḥaquقَالُوا۟they saidqālūهَـٰذَاThishādhāسِحْرٌۭ(is) magicsiḥ'runوَإِنَّاand indeed, wewa-innāبِهِۦof itbihiكَـٰفِرُونَ(are) disbelieverskāfirūna٣٠
But when the truth came to them, they said, "This is magic, and indeed we are, concerning it, disbelievers."
٤٣:٣١
وَقَالُوا۟And they saywaqālūلَوْلَاWhy notlawlāنُزِّلَwas sent downnuzzilaهَـٰذَاthishādhāٱلْقُرْءَانُthe Quranl-qur'ānuعَلَىٰtoʿalāرَجُلٍۢa manrajulinمِّنَfromminaٱلْقَرْيَتَيْنِthe two townsl-qaryatayniعَظِيمٍgreatʿaẓīmin٣١
And they said, "Why was this Qur’ān not sent down upon a great man from [one of] the two cities?"1
٤٣:٣٢
أَهُمْDo theyahumيَقْسِمُونَdistributeyaqsimūnaرَحْمَتَ(the) Mercyraḥmataرَبِّكَ ۚ(of) your LordrabbikaنَحْنُWenaḥnuقَسَمْنَا[We] distributeqasamnāبَيْنَهُمamong thembaynahumمَّعِيشَتَهُمْtheir livelihoodmaʿīshatahumفِىinٱلْحَيَوٰةِthe lifel-ḥayatiٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ(of) the worldl-dun'yāوَرَفَعْنَاand We raisewarafaʿnāبَعْضَهُمْsome of thembaʿḍahumفَوْقَabovefawqaبَعْضٍۢothersbaʿḍinدَرَجَـٰتٍۢ(in) degreesdarajātinلِّيَتَّخِذَso that may takeliyattakhidhaبَعْضُهُمsome of thembaʿḍuhumبَعْضًۭاothersbaʿḍanسُخْرِيًّۭا ۗ(for) servicesukh'riyyanوَرَحْمَتُBut (the) Mercywaraḥmatuرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordrabbikaخَيْرٌۭ(is) betterkhayrunمِّمَّاthan whatmimmāيَجْمَعُونَthey accumulateyajmaʿūna٣٢
Do they distribute the mercy of your Lord? It is We who have apportioned among them their livelihood in the life of this world and have raised some of them above others in degrees [of rank] that they may make use of one another for service. But the mercy of your Lord is better than whatever they accumulate.
٤٣:٣٣
وَلَوْلَآAnd if notwalawlāأَنthatanيَكُونَ(would) becomeyakūnaٱلنَّاسُ[the] mankindl-nāsuأُمَّةًۭa communityummatanوَٰحِدَةًۭonewāḥidatanلَّجَعَلْنَاWe (would have) madelajaʿalnāلِمَنfor (one) wholimanيَكْفُرُdisbelievesyakfuruبِٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِin the Most Graciousbil-raḥmāniلِبُيُوتِهِمْfor their houseslibuyūtihimسُقُفًۭاroofssuqufanمِّنofminفِضَّةٍۢsilverfiḍḍatinوَمَعَارِجَand stairwayswamaʿārijaعَلَيْهَاupon whichʿalayhāيَظْهَرُونَthey mountyaẓharūna٣٣
And if it were not that the people would become one community [of disbelievers], We would have made for those who disbelieve in the Most Merciful - for their houses - ceilings and stairways of silver upon which to mount.
٤٣:٣٤
وَلِبُيُوتِهِمْAnd for their houseswalibuyūtihimأَبْوَٰبًۭاdoorsabwābanوَسُرُرًاand coucheswasururanعَلَيْهَاupon whichʿalayhāيَتَّكِـُٔونَthey reclineyattakiūna٣٤
And for their houses - doors and couches [of silver] upon which to recline
٤٣:٣٥
وَزُخْرُفًۭا ۚAnd ornaments of goldwazukh'rufanوَإِنAnd not (is)wa-inكُلُّallkulluذَٰلِكَthatdhālikaلَمَّاbutlammāمَتَـٰعُan enjoymentmatāʿuٱلْحَيَوٰةِ(of) the lifel-ḥayatiٱلدُّنْيَا ۚ(of) the worldl-dun'yāوَٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُAnd the Hereafterwal-ākhiratuعِندَwithʿindaرَبِّكَyour Lordrabbikaلِلْمُتَّقِينَ(is) for the righteouslil'muttaqīna٣٥
And gold ornament. But all that is not but the enjoyment of worldly life. And the Hereafter with your Lord is for the righteous.
٤٣:٣٦
وَمَنAnd whoeverwamanيَعْشُturns awayyaʿshuعَنfromʿanذِكْرِ(the) remembrancedhik'riٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ(of) the Most Graciousl-raḥmāniنُقَيِّضْWe appointnuqayyiḍلَهُۥfor himlahuشَيْطَـٰنًۭاa devilshayṭānanفَهُوَthen hefahuwaلَهُۥ(is) to himlahuقَرِينٌۭa companionqarīnun٣٦
And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion.
٤٣:٣٧
وَإِنَّهُمْAnd indeed, theywa-innahumلَيَصُدُّونَهُمْsurely, turn themlayaṣuddūnahumعَنِfromʿaniٱلسَّبِيلِthe Pathl-sabīliوَيَحْسَبُونَand they thinkwayaḥsabūnaأَنَّهُمthat theyannahumمُّهْتَدُونَ(are) guidedmuh'tadūna٣٧
And indeed, they [i.e., the devils] avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided
٤٣:٣٨
حَتَّىٰٓUntilḥattāإِذَاwhenidhāجَآءَنَاhe comes to Usjāanāقَالَhe saysqālaيَـٰلَيْتَO would thatyālaytaبَيْنِىbetween mebaynīوَبَيْنَكَand between youwabaynakaبُعْدَ(were the) distancebuʿ'daٱلْمَشْرِقَيْنِ(of) the East and the Westl-mashriqayniفَبِئْسَHow wretched isfabi'saٱلْقَرِينُthe companionl-qarīnu٣٨
Until, when he comes to Us [at Judgement], he says [to his companion], "How I wish there was between me and you the distance between the east and west; and what a wretched companion."
٤٣:٣٩
وَلَنAnd neverwalanيَنفَعَكُمُwill benefit youyanfaʿakumuٱلْيَوْمَthe Dayl-yawmaإِذwhenidhظَّلَمْتُمْyou have wrongedẓalamtumأَنَّكُمْthat youannakumفِى(will be) inٱلْعَذَابِthe punishmentl-ʿadhābiمُشْتَرِكُونَsharingmush'tarikūna٣٩
And never will it benefit you that Day, when you have wronged, that you are [all] sharing in the punishment.
٤٣:٤٠
أَفَأَنتَThen can youafa-antaتُسْمِعُcause to heartus'miʿuٱلصُّمَّthe deafl-ṣumaأَوْorawتَهْدِىguidetahdīٱلْعُمْىَthe blindl-ʿum'yaوَمَنand (one) whowamanكَانَiskānaفِىinضَلَـٰلٍۢan errorḍalālinمُّبِينٍۢclearmubīnin٤٠
Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muḥammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error?
٤٣:٤١
فَإِمَّاAnd whetherfa-immāنَذْهَبَنَّWe take you awaynadhhabannaبِكَWe take you awaybikaفَإِنَّاthen indeed, Wefa-innāمِنْهُمfrom themmin'humمُّنتَقِمُونَ(will) take retributionmuntaqimūna٤١
And whether [or not] We take you away [in death], indeed, We will take retribution upon them.
٤٣:٤٢
أَوْOrawنُرِيَنَّكَWe show younuriyannakaٱلَّذِىthat whichalladhīوَعَدْنَـٰهُمْWe have promised themwaʿadnāhumفَإِنَّاthen indeed, Wefa-innāعَلَيْهِمover themʿalayhimمُّقْتَدِرُونَhave full powermuq'tadirūna٤٢
Or whether [or not] We show you that which We have promised them, indeed, We are Perfect in Ability.
٤٣:٤٣
فَٱسْتَمْسِكْSo hold fastfa-is'tamsikبِٱلَّذِىٓto that whichbi-alladhīأُوحِىَis revealedūḥiyaإِلَيْكَ ۖto youilaykaإِنَّكَIndeed, youinnakaعَلَىٰ(are) onʿalāصِرَٰطٍۢa PathṣirāṭinمُّسْتَقِيمٍۢStraightmus'taqīmin٤٣
So adhere to that which is revealed to you. Indeed, you are on a straight path.
٤٣:٤٤
وَإِنَّهُۥAnd indeed, itwa-innahuلَذِكْرٌۭ(is) surely, a Reminderladhik'runلَّكَfor youlakaوَلِقَوْمِكَ ۖand your peoplewaliqawmikaوَسَوْفَand soonwasawfaتُسْـَٔلُونَyou will be questionedtus'alūna٤٤
And indeed, it is a remembrance for you and your people, and you [all] are going to be questioned.
٤٣:٤٥
وَسْـَٔلْAnd askwasalمَنْ(those) whommanأَرْسَلْنَاWe sentarsalnāمِنbefore youminقَبْلِكَbefore youqablikaمِنofminرُّسُلِنَآOur Messengersrusulināأَجَعَلْنَاdid We makeajaʿalnāمِنbesidesminدُونِbesidesdūniٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousl-raḥmāniءَالِهَةًۭgodsālihatanيُعْبَدُونَto be worshippedyuʿ'badūna٤٥
And ask those We sent before you of Our messengers; have We made besides the Most Merciful deities to be worshipped?
٤٣:٤٦
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlywalaqadأَرْسَلْنَاWe sentarsalnāمُوسَىٰMusamūsāبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآwith Our SignsbiāyātināإِلَىٰtoilāفِرْعَوْنَFiraunfir'ʿawnaوَمَلَإِي۟هِۦand his chiefswamala-ihiفَقَالَand he saidfaqālaإِنِّىIndeed, I aminnīرَسُولُa Messengerrasūluرَبِّ(of the) Lordrabbiٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna٤٦
And certainly did We send Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, and he said, "Indeed, I am the messenger of the Lord of the worlds."
٤٣:٤٧
فَلَمَّاBut whenfalammāجَآءَهُمhe came to themjāahumبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآwith Our SignsbiāyātināإِذَاbeholdidhāهُمTheyhumمِّنْهَاat themmin'hāيَضْحَكُونَlaughedyaḍḥakūna٤٧
But when he brought them Our signs, at once they laughed at them.
٤٣:٤٨
وَمَاAnd notwamāنُرِيهِمWe showed themnurīhimمِّنْofminءَايَةٍa Signāyatinإِلَّاbutillāهِىَithiyaأَكْبَرُ(was) greaterakbaruمِنْthanminأُخْتِهَا ۖits sisterukh'tihāوَأَخَذْنَـٰهُمand We seized themwa-akhadhnāhumبِٱلْعَذَابِwith the punishmentbil-ʿadhābiلَعَلَّهُمْso that they maylaʿallahumيَرْجِعُونَreturnyarjiʿūna٤٨
And We showed them not a sign except that it was greater than its sister, and We seized them with affliction that perhaps they might return [to faith].
٤٣:٤٩
وَقَالُوا۟And they saidwaqālūيَـٰٓأَيُّهَOyāayyuhaٱلسَّاحِرُ[the] magicianl-sāḥiruٱدْعُInvokeud'ʿuلَنَاfor uslanāرَبَّكَyour Lordrabbakaبِمَاby whatbimāعَهِدَHe has made covenantʿahidaعِندَكَwith youʿindakaإِنَّنَاIndeed, weinnanāلَمُهْتَدُونَ(will) surely be guidedlamuh'tadūna٤٩
And they said [to Moses], "O magician, invoke for us your Lord by what He has promised you. Indeed, we will be guided."
٤٣:٥٠
فَلَمَّاBut whenfalammāكَشَفْنَاWe removedkashafnāعَنْهُمُfrom themʿanhumuٱلْعَذَابَthe punishmentl-ʿadhābaإِذَاbeholdidhāهُمْTheyhumيَنكُثُونَbroke (their word)yankuthūna٥٠
But when We removed from them the affliction, at once they broke their word.
٤٣:٥١
وَنَادَىٰAnd called outwanādāفِرْعَوْنُFiraunfir'ʿawnuفِىamongقَوْمِهِۦhis peopleqawmihiقَالَhe saidqālaيَـٰقَوْمِO my peopleyāqawmiأَلَيْسَIs notalaysaلِىfor meمُلْكُ(the) kingdommul'kuمِصْرَ(of) Egyptmiṣ'raوَهَـٰذِهِand thesewahādhihiٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ[the] riversl-anhāruتَجْرِىflowingtajrīمِنunderneath meminتَحْتِىٓ ۖunderneath metaḥtīأَفَلَاThen do notafalāتُبْصِرُونَyou seetub'ṣirūna٥١
And Pharaoh called out among his people; he said, "O my people, does not the kingdom of Egypt belong to me, and these rivers flowing beneath me; then do you not see?
٤٣:٥٢
أَمْOramأَنَا۠am Ianāخَيْرٌۭbetterkhayrunمِّنْthanminهَـٰذَاthishādhāٱلَّذِىone who alladhīهُوَhehuwaمَهِينٌۭ(is) insignificantmahīnunوَلَاand hardlywalāيَكَادُand hardlyyakāduيُبِينُclearyubīnu٥٢
Or am I [not] better than this one [i.e., Moses] who is insignificant and hardly makes himself clear?
٤٣:٥٣
فَلَوْلَآThen why notfalawlāأُلْقِىَare placedul'qiyaعَلَيْهِon himʿalayhiأَسْوِرَةٌۭbraceletsaswiratunمِّنofminذَهَبٍgolddhahabinأَوْorawجَآءَcomejāaمَعَهُwith himmaʿahuٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُthe Angelsl-malāikatuمُقْتَرِنِينَaccompanying (him)muq'tarinīna٥٣
Then why have there not been placed upon him bracelets of gold or come with him the angels in conjunction?"
٤٣:٥٤
فَٱسْتَخَفَّSo he bluffedfa-is'takhaffaقَوْمَهُۥhis peopleqawmahuفَأَطَاعُوهُ ۚand they obeyed himfa-aṭāʿūhuإِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyinnahumكَانُوا۟werekānūقَوْمًۭاa peopleqawmanفَـٰسِقِينَdefiantly disobedientfāsiqīna٥٤
So he bluffed his people, and they obeyed him. Indeed, they were [themselves] a people defiantly disobedient [of Allāh].
٤٣:٥٥
فَلَمَّآSo whenfalammāءَاسَفُونَاthey angered UsāsafūnāٱنتَقَمْنَاWe took retributionintaqamnāمِنْهُمْfrom themmin'humفَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْand We drowned themfa-aghraqnāhumأَجْمَعِينَallajmaʿīna٥٥
And when they angered Us, We took retribution from them and drowned them all.
٤٣:٥٦
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْAnd We made themfajaʿalnāhumسَلَفًۭاa precedentsalafanوَمَثَلًۭاand an examplewamathalanلِّلْـَٔاخِرِينَfor the later (generations)lil'ākhirīna٥٦
And We made them a precedent and an example for the later peoples.
٤٣:٥٧
۞ وَلَمَّاAnd whenwalammāضُرِبَis presentedḍuribaٱبْنُ(the) sonub'nuمَرْيَمَ(of) Maryammaryamaمَثَلًا(as) an examplemathalanإِذَاbeholdidhāقَوْمُكَYour peopleqawmukaمِنْهُabout itmin'huيَصِدُّونَlaughed aloudyaṣiddūna٥٧
And when the son of Mary was presented as an example, immediately your people laughed aloud.
٤٣:٥٨
وَقَالُوٓا۟And they saidwaqālūءَأَـٰلِهَتُنَاAre our godsaālihatunāخَيْرٌbetterkhayrunأَمْoramهُوَ ۚhehuwaمَاNotضَرَبُوهُthey present itḍarabūhuلَكَto youlakaإِلَّاexceptillāجَدَلًۢا ۚ(for) argumentjadalanبَلْNaybalهُمْtheyhumقَوْمٌ(are) a peopleqawmunخَصِمُونَargumentativekhaṣimūna٥٨
And they said, "Are our gods better, or is he?"1 They did not present it [i.e., the comparison] except for [mere] argument. But, [in fact], they are a people prone to dispute.
٤٣:٥٩
إِنْNotinهُوَhehuwaإِلَّا(was) exceptillāعَبْدٌa slaveʿabdunأَنْعَمْنَاWe bestowed Our favoranʿamnāعَلَيْهِon himʿalayhiوَجَعَلْنَـٰهُand We made himwajaʿalnāhuمَثَلًۭاan examplemathalanلِّبَنِىٓfor (the) Children of Israellibanīإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَfor (the) Children of Israelis'rāīla٥٩
He [i.e., Jesus] was not but a servant upon whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the Children of Israel.
٤٣:٦٠
وَلَوْAnd ifwalawنَشَآءُWe willednashāuلَجَعَلْنَاsurely We (could have) madelajaʿalnāمِنكُمamong youminkumمَّلَـٰٓئِكَةًۭAngelsmalāikatanفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthl-arḍiيَخْلُفُونَsucceedingyakhlufūna٦٠
And if We willed, We could have made [instead] of you angels succeeding [one another]1 on the earth.
٤٣:٦١
وَإِنَّهُۥAnd indeed, itwa-innahuلَعِلْمٌۭsurely (is) a knowledgelaʿil'munلِّلسَّاعَةِof the HourlilssāʿatiفَلَاSo (do) notfalāتَمْتَرُنَّ(be) doubtfultamtarunnaبِهَاabout itbihāوَٱتَّبِعُونِ ۚand follow Mewa-ittabiʿūniهَـٰذَاThishādhāصِرَٰطٌۭ(is the) PathṣirāṭunمُّسْتَقِيمٌۭStraightmus'taqīmun٦١
And indeed, he [i.e., Jesus] will be [a sign for] knowledge of the Hour, so be not in doubt of it, and follow Me. This is a straight path.
٤٣:٦٢
وَلَاAnd (let) notwalāيَصُدَّنَّكُمُavert youyaṣuddannakumuٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ ۖthe Shaitaanl-shayṭānuإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heinnahuلَكُمْ(is) for youlakumعَدُوٌّۭan enemyʿaduwwunمُّبِينٌۭclearmubīnun٦٢
And never let Satan avert you. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
٤٣:٦٣
وَلَمَّاAnd whenwalammāجَآءَcamejāaعِيسَىٰIsaʿīsāبِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِwith clear proofsbil-bayinātiقَالَhe saidqālaقَدْVerilyqadجِئْتُكُمI have come to youji'tukumبِٱلْحِكْمَةِwith wisdombil-ḥik'matiوَلِأُبَيِّنَand that I make clearwali-ubayyinaلَكُمto youlakumبَعْضَsomebaʿḍaٱلَّذِى(of) that whichalladhīتَخْتَلِفُونَyou differtakhtalifūnaفِيهِ ۖin itfīhiفَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearfa-ittaqūٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaوَأَطِيعُونِand obey mewa-aṭīʿūni٦٣
And when Jesus brought clear proofs, he said, "I have come to you with wisdom [i.e., prophethood] and to make clear to you some of that over which you differ, so fear Allāh and obey me.
٤٣:٦٤
إِنَّIndeedinnaٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaهُوَHehuwaرَبِّى(is) my Lordrabbīوَرَبُّكُمْand your Lordwarabbukumفَٱعْبُدُوهُ ۚso worship Himfa-uʿ'budūhuهَـٰذَاThishādhāصِرَٰطٌۭ(is) a PathṣirāṭunمُّسْتَقِيمٌۭStraightmus'taqīmun٦٤
Indeed, Allāh is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. This is a straight path."
٤٣:٦٥
فَٱخْتَلَفَBut differedfa-ikh'talafaٱلْأَحْزَابُthe factionsl-aḥzābuمِنۢfromminبَيْنِهِمْ ۖamong thembaynihimفَوَيْلٌۭso woefawaylunلِّلَّذِينَto those wholilladhīnaظَلَمُوا۟wrongedẓalamūمِنْfromminعَذَابِ(the) punishmentʿadhābiيَوْمٍ(of the) Dayyawminأَلِيمٍpainfulalīmin٦٥
But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day.
٤٣:٦٦
هَلْArehalيَنظُرُونَthey waitingyanẓurūnaإِلَّاexceptillāٱلسَّاعَةَ(for) the Hourl-sāʿataأَنthatanتَأْتِيَهُمit should come on themtatiyahumبَغْتَةًۭsuddenlybaghtatanوَهُمْwhile theywahumلَا(do) notيَشْعُرُونَperceiveyashʿurūna٦٦
Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not?
٤٣:٦٧
ٱلْأَخِلَّآءُFriendsal-akhilāuيَوْمَئِذٍۭthat Dayyawma-idhinبَعْضُهُمْsome of thembaʿḍuhumلِبَعْضٍto otherslibaʿḍinعَدُوٌّ(will be) enemiesʿaduwwunإِلَّاexceptillāٱلْمُتَّقِينَthe righteousl-mutaqīna٦٧
Close friends, that Day, will be enemies to each other, except for the righteous
٤٣:٦٨
يَـٰعِبَادِO My slavesyāʿibādiلَاNoخَوْفٌfearkhawfunعَلَيْكُمُon youʿalaykumuٱلْيَوْمَthis Dayl-yawmaوَلَآand notwalāأَنتُمْyouantumتَحْزَنُونَwill grievetaḥzanūna٦٨
[To whom Allāh will say], "O My servants, no fear will there be concerning you this Day, nor will you grieve,
٤٣:٦٩
ٱلَّذِينَThose whoalladhīnaءَامَنُوا۟believedāmanūبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاin Our Versesbiāyātināوَكَانُوا۟and werewakānūمُسْلِمِينَsubmissivemus'limīna٦٩
[You] who believed in Our verses and were Muslims.
٤٣:٧٠
ٱدْخُلُوا۟Enterud'khulūٱلْجَنَّةَParadisel-janataأَنتُمْyouantumوَأَزْوَٰجُكُمْand your spouseswa-azwājukumتُحْبَرُونَdelightedtuḥ'barūna٧٠
Enter Paradise, you and your kinds, delighted."
٤٣:٧١
يُطَافُWill be circulatedyuṭāfuعَلَيْهِمfor themʿalayhimبِصِحَافٍۢplatesbiṣiḥāfinمِّنofminذَهَبٍۢgolddhahabinوَأَكْوَابٍۢ ۖand cupswa-akwābinوَفِيهَاAnd thereinwafīhāمَا(is) whatتَشْتَهِيهِdesirestashtahīhiٱلْأَنفُسُthe soulsl-anfusuوَتَلَذُّand delightswataladhuٱلْأَعْيُنُ ۖthe eyesl-aʿyunuوَأَنتُمْand youwa-antumفِيهَاthereinfīhāخَـٰلِدُونَwill abide foreverkhālidūna٧١
Circulated among them will be plates and vessels of gold. And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.
٤٣:٧٢
وَتِلْكَAnd thiswatil'kaٱلْجَنَّةُ(is) the Paradisel-janatuٱلَّتِىٓwhichallatīأُورِثْتُمُوهَاyou are made to inheritūrith'tumūhāبِمَاfor whatbimāكُنتُمْyou used tokuntumتَعْمَلُونَdotaʿmalūna٧٢
And that is Paradise which you are made to inherit for what you used to do.
٤٣:٧٣
لَكُمْFor youlakumفِيهَاthereinfīhāفَـٰكِهَةٌۭ(are) fruitsfākihatunكَثِيرَةٌۭabundantkathīratunمِّنْهَاfrom itmin'hāتَأْكُلُونَyou will eattakulūna٧٣
For you therein is much fruit from which you will eat.
٤٣:٧٤
إِنَّIndeedinnaٱلْمُجْرِمِينَthe criminalsl-muj'rimīnaفِى(will be) inعَذَابِ(the) punishmentʿadhābiجَهَنَّمَ(of) Helljahannamaخَـٰلِدُونَabiding foreverkhālidūna٧٤
Indeed, the criminals will be in the punishment of Hell, abiding eternally.
٤٣:٧٥
لَاNotيُفَتَّرُwill it subsideyufattaruعَنْهُمْfor themʿanhumوَهُمْand theywahumفِيهِin itfīhiمُبْلِسُونَ(will) despairmub'lisūna٧٥
It will not be allowed to subside for them, and they, therein, are in despair.
٤٣:٧٦
وَمَاAnd notwamāظَلَمْنَـٰهُمْWe wronged themẓalamnāhumوَلَـٰكِنbutwalākinكَانُوا۟they werekānūهُمُthemselveshumuٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَwrongdoersl-ẓālimīna٧٦
And We did not wrong them, but it was they who were the wrongdoers.
٤٣:٧٧
وَنَادَوْا۟And they will callwanādawيَـٰمَـٰلِكُO MalikyāmālikuلِيَقْضِLet put an endliyaqḍiعَلَيْنَاto usʿalaynāرَبُّكَ ۖyour LordrabbukaقَالَHe (will) sayqālaإِنَّكُمIndeed, youinnakumمَّـٰكِثُونَ(will) remainmākithūna٧٧
And they will call, "O Mālik, let your Lord put an end to us!" He will say, "Indeed, you will remain."
٤٣:٧٨
لَقَدْCertainlylaqadجِئْنَـٰكُمWe have brought youji'nākumبِٱلْحَقِّthe truthbil-ḥaqiوَلَـٰكِنَّbutwalākinnaأَكْثَرَكُمْmost of youaktharakumلِلْحَقِّto the truthlil'ḥaqqiكَـٰرِهُونَ(are) aversekārihūna٧٨
We had certainly brought you the truth, but most of you, to the truth, were averse.
٤٣:٧٩
أَمْOramأَبْرَمُوٓا۟have they determinedabramūأَمْرًۭاan affairamranفَإِنَّاThen indeed, Wefa-innāمُبْرِمُونَ(are) determinedmub'rimūna٧٩
Or have they devised [some] affair? But indeed, We are devising [a plan].
٤٣:٨٠
أَمْOramيَحْسَبُونَ(do) they thinkyaḥsabūnaأَنَّاthat Weannāلَا(can) notنَسْمَعُhearnasmaʿuسِرَّهُمْtheir secret(s)sirrahumوَنَجْوَىٰهُم ۚand their private counsel(s)wanajwāhumبَلَىٰNaybalāوَرُسُلُنَاand Our Messengerswarusulunāلَدَيْهِمْwith themladayhimيَكْتُبُونَare recordingyaktubūna٨٠
Or do they think that We hear not their secrets and their private conversations? Yes, [We do], and Our messengers [i.e., angels] are with them recording.
٤٣:٨١
قُلْSayqulإِنIfinكَانَhadkānaلِلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciouslilrraḥmāniوَلَدٌۭa sonwaladunفَأَنَا۠Then, Ifa-anāأَوَّلُ(would be the) firstawwaluٱلْعَـٰبِدِينَ(of) the worshippersl-ʿābidīna٨١
Say, [O Muḥammad], "If the Most Merciful had a son, then I would be the first of [his] worshippers."1
٤٣:٨٢
سُبْحَـٰنَGlory besub'ḥānaرَبِّ(to the) Lordrabbiٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensl-samāwātiوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthwal-arḍiرَبِّ(the) Lordrabbiٱلْعَرْشِ(of) the Thronel-ʿarshiعَمَّاabove whatʿammāيَصِفُونَthey ascribeyaṣifūna٨٢
Exalted is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.
٤٣:٨٣
فَذَرْهُمْSo leave themfadharhumيَخُوضُوا۟(to) converse vainlyyakhūḍūوَيَلْعَبُوا۟and playwayalʿabūحَتَّىٰuntilḥattāيُلَـٰقُوا۟they meetyulāqūيَوْمَهُمُtheir Dayyawmahumuٱلَّذِىwhichalladhīيُوعَدُونَthey are promisedyūʿadūna٨٣
So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised.
٤٣:٨٤
وَهُوَAnd Hewahuwaٱلَّذِى(is) the One Whoalladhīفِى(is) inٱلسَّمَآءِthe heaven l-samāiإِلَـٰهٌۭGodilāhunوَفِىand inwafīٱلْأَرْضِthe earth l-arḍiإِلَـٰهٌۭ ۚGodilāhunوَهُوَAnd Hewahuwaٱلْحَكِيمُ(is) the All-Wisel-ḥakīmuٱلْعَلِيمُthe All-Knowerl-ʿalīmu٨٤
And it is He [i.e., Allāh] who is [the only] deity in the heaven, and on the earth [the only] deity. And He is the Wise, the Knowing.
٤٣:٨٥
وَتَبَارَكَAnd blessed (is)watabārakaٱلَّذِىthe One Who alladhīلَهُۥto Whomlahuمُلْكُ(belongs the) dominionmul'kuٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensl-samāwātiوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthwal-arḍiوَمَاand whateverwamāبَيْنَهُمَا(is) between both of thembaynahumāوَعِندَهُۥand with Himwaʿindahuعِلْمُ(is the) knowledgeʿil'muٱلسَّاعَةِ(of) the Hourl-sāʿatiوَإِلَيْهِand to Himwa-ilayhiتُرْجَعُونَyou will be returnedtur'jaʿūna٨٥
And blessed is He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them and with whom is knowledge of the Hour and to whom you will be returned.
٤٣:٨٦
وَلَاAnd notwalāيَمْلِكُhave poweryamlikuٱلَّذِينَthose whomalladhīnaيَدْعُونَthey invokeyadʿūnaمِنbesides Himminدُونِهِbesides Himdūnihiٱلشَّفَـٰعَةَ(for) the intercessionl-shafāʿataإِلَّاexceptillāمَنwhomanشَهِدَtestifiesshahidaبِٱلْحَقِّto the truthbil-ḥaqiوَهُمْand theywahumيَعْلَمُونَknowyaʿlamūna٨٦
And those they invoke besides Him do not possess [power of] intercession; but only those who testify to the truth [can benefit], and they know.
٤٣:٨٧
وَلَئِنAnd ifwala-inسَأَلْتَهُمyou ask themsa-altahumمَّنْwhomanخَلَقَهُمْcreated themkhalaqahumلَيَقُولُنَّthey will certainly saylayaqūlunnaٱللَّهُ ۖAllahl-lahuفَأَنَّىٰThen howfa-annāيُؤْفَكُونَare they deludedyu'fakūna٨٧
And if you asked them who created them, they would surely say, "Allāh." So how are they deluded?
٤٣:٨٨
وَقِيلِهِۦAnd his sayingwaqīlihiيَـٰرَبِّO my LordyārabbiإِنَّIndeedinnaهَـٰٓؤُلَآءِthesehāulāiقَوْمٌۭ(are) a peopleqawmunلَّا(who do) notيُؤْمِنُونَbelieveyu'minūna٨٨
And [Allāh acknowledges] his saying, "O my Lord, indeed these are a people who do not believe."
٤٣:٨٩
فَٱصْفَحْSo turn awayfa-iṣ'faḥعَنْهُمْfrom themʿanhumوَقُلْand saywaqulسَلَـٰمٌۭ ۚPeacesalāmunفَسَوْفَBut soonfasawfaيَعْلَمُونَthey will knowyaʿlamūna٨٩
So turn aside from them and say, "Peace."1 But they are going to know.
