In (the) name ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious ٱلرَّحِيمِ the Most Merciful l-raḥīmi

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
104:1
وَيْلٌۭ
Woe
waylun
Woe لِّكُلِّ to every likulli
to every هُمَزَةٍۢ slanderer humazatin
slanderer لُّمَزَةٍ backbiter lumazatin
backbiter ١ (1)

Woe لِّكُلِّ to every likulli
to every هُمَزَةٍۢ slanderer humazatin
slanderer لُّمَزَةٍ backbiter lumazatin

Woe to every scorner and mocker
104:2
ٱلَّذِى
The one who
alladhī
The one who جَمَعَ collects jamaʿa
collects مَالًۭا wealth mālan
wealth وَعَدَّدَهُۥ and counts it waʿaddadahu
and counts it ٢ (2)
(2)
The one who جَمَعَ collects jamaʿa
collects مَالًۭا wealth mālan
wealth وَعَدَّدَهُۥ and counts it waʿaddadahu
and counts it ٢ (2)
(2)
Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it.
104:3
يَحْسَبُ
Thinking
yaḥsabu
Thinking أَنَّ that anna
that مَالَهُۥٓ his wealth mālahu
his wealth أَخْلَدَهُۥ will make him immortal akhladahu
will make him immortal ٣ (3)

Thinking أَنَّ that anna
that مَالَهُۥٓ his wealth mālahu
his wealth أَخْلَدَهُۥ will make him immortal akhladahu
will make him immortal ٣ (3)

He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.
104:4
كَلَّا ۖ
Nay
kallā
Nay لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ Surely he will be thrown layunbadhanna
Surely he will be thrown فِى in fī
in ٱلْحُطَمَةِ the Crusher l-ḥuṭamati
the Crusher ٤ (4)

Nay لَيُنۢبَذَنَّ Surely he will be thrown layunbadhanna
Surely he will be thrown فِى in fī
in ٱلْحُطَمَةِ the Crusher l-ḥuṭamati
the Crusher ٤ (4)
(4)
No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher.
104:5
وَمَآ
And what
wamā
And what أَدْرَىٰكَ will make you know adrāka
will make you know مَا what mā
what ٱلْحُطَمَةُ the Crusher (is) l-ḥuṭamatu
the Crusher (is) ٥ (5)

And what أَدْرَىٰكَ will make you know adrāka

what ٱلْحُطَمَةُ the Crusher (is) l-ḥuṭamatu
the Crusher (is) ٥ (5)

And what can make you know what is the Crusher?
104:6
نَارُ
A Fire
nāru
A Fire ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah ٱلْمُوقَدَةُ kindled l-mūqadatu
kindled ٦ (6)

A Fire ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah ٱلْمُوقَدَةُ kindled l-mūqadatu
kindled ٦ (6)
(6)
It is the fire of Allāh, [eternally] fueled,
104:7
ٱلَّتِى
Which
allatī
Which تَطَّلِعُ mounts up taṭṭaliʿu
mounts up عَلَى to ʿalā
to ٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةِ the hearts l-afidati
the hearts ٧ (7)

Which تَطَّلِعُ mounts up taṭṭaliʿu
mounts up عَلَى to ʿalā
to ٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةِ the hearts l-afidati
the hearts ٧ (7)

Which mounts directed at the hearts.
104:8
إِنَّهَا
Indeed, it
innahā
Indeed, it عَلَيْهِم (will be) upon them ʿalayhim
(will be) upon them مُّؤْصَدَةٌۭ closed over mu'ṣadatun
closed over ٨ (8)

Indeed, it عَلَيْهِم (will be) upon them ʿalayhim
(will be) upon them مُّؤْصَدَةٌۭ closed over mu'ṣadatun

Indeed, it [i.e., Hellfire] will be closed down upon them
104:9
