Surah Al-Ghashiyah (الغاشية) is chapter 88 of the Holy Quran — a Meccan surah of 26 verses (ayahs). Meccan surahs were revealed before the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) migrated to Medina and most often emphasise faith, the oneness of God and the hereafter.

Bismillah
بِسْمِIn (the) namebis'miٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousl-raḥmāniٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmi
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
88:1
هَلْHashalأَتَىٰكَ(there) come to youatākaحَدِيثُ(the) newsḥadīthuٱلْغَـٰشِيَةِ(of) the Overwhelmingl-ghāshiyati١
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]?
88:2
وُجُوهٌۭFaceswujūhunيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayyawma-idhinخَـٰشِعَةٌ(will be) humbledkhāshiʿatun٢
[Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled,
88:3
عَامِلَةٌۭLaboringʿāmilatunنَّاصِبَةٌۭexhaustednāṣibatun٣
Working [hard] and exhausted.
88:4
تَصْلَىٰThey will burntaṣlāنَارًا(in) a Firenāranحَامِيَةًۭintensely hotḥāmiyatan٤
They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire.
88:5
تُسْقَىٰThey will be given to drinktus'qāمِنْfromminعَيْنٍa springʿayninءَانِيَةٍۢboilingāniyatin٥
They will be given drink from a boiling spring.
88:6
لَّيْسَNot islaysaلَهُمْfor themlahumطَعَامٌfoodṭaʿāmunإِلَّاexceptillāمِنfromminضَرِيعٍۢa bitter thorny plantḍarīʿin٦
For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant
88:7
لَّاNotيُسْمِنُit nourishesyus'minuوَلَاand notwalāيُغْنِىit availsyugh'nīمِنfromminجُوعٍۢhungerjūʿin٧
Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger.
88:8
وُجُوهٌۭFaceswujūhunيَوْمَئِذٍۢthat Dayyawma-idhinنَّاعِمَةٌۭ(will be) joyfulnāʿimatun٨
[Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure.
88:9
لِّسَعْيِهَاWith their effortlisaʿyihāرَاضِيَةٌۭsatisfiedrāḍiyatun٩
With their effort [they are] satisfied
88:10
فِىInجَنَّةٍa gardenjannatinعَالِيَةٍۢelevatedʿāliyatin١٠
In an elevated garden,
88:11
لَّاNotتَسْمَعُthey will heartasmaʿuفِيهَاthereinfīhāلَـٰغِيَةًۭvain talklāghiyatan١١
Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech.
88:12
فِيهَاThereinfīhāعَيْنٌۭ(will be) a springʿaynunجَارِيَةٌۭflowingjāriyatun١٢
Within it is a flowing spring.
88:13
فِيهَاThereinfīhāسُرُرٌۭ(will be) thronessururunمَّرْفُوعَةٌۭraised highmarfūʿatun١٣
Within it are couches raised high
88:14
وَأَكْوَابٌۭAnd cupswa-akwābunمَّوْضُوعَةٌۭput in placemawḍūʿatun١٤
And cups put in place
88:15
وَنَمَارِقُAnd cushionswanamāriquمَصْفُوفَةٌۭlined upmaṣfūfatun١٥
And cushions lined up
88:16
وَزَرَابِىُّAnd carpetswazarābiyyuمَبْثُوثَةٌspread outmabthūthatun١٦
And carpets spread around.
88:17
أَفَلَاThen do notafalāيَنظُرُونَthey lookyanẓurūnaإِلَىtowardsilāٱلْإِبِلِthe camelsl-ibiliكَيْفَhowkayfaخُلِقَتْthey are createdkhuliqat١٧
Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created?
88:18
وَإِلَىAnd towardswa-ilāٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyl-samāiكَيْفَhowkayfaرُفِعَتْit is raisedrufiʿat١٨
And at the sky - how it is raised?
88:19
وَإِلَىAnd towardswa-ilāٱلْجِبَالِthe mountainsl-jibāliكَيْفَhowkayfaنُصِبَتْthey are fixednuṣibat١٩
And at the mountains - how they are erected?
88:20
وَإِلَىAnd towardswa-ilāٱلْأَرْضِthe earthl-arḍiكَيْفَhowkayfaسُطِحَتْit is spread outsuṭiḥat٢٠
And at the earth - how it is spread out?
88:21
فَذَكِّرْSo remindfadhakkirإِنَّمَآonlyinnamāأَنتَyouantaمُذَكِّرٌۭ(are) a remindermudhakkirun٢١
So remind, [O Muḥammad]; you are only a reminder.
88:22
لَّسْتَYou are notlastaعَلَيْهِمover themʿalayhimبِمُصَيْطِرٍa controllerbimuṣayṭirin٢٢
You are not over them a controller.
88:23
إِلَّاButillāمَنwhoevermanتَوَلَّىٰturns awaytawallāوَكَفَرَand disbelieveswakafara٢٣
However, he who turns away and disbelieves
88:24
فَيُعَذِّبُهُThen will punish himfayuʿadhibuhuٱللَّهُAllahl-lahuٱلْعَذَابَ(with) the punishmentl-ʿadhābaٱلْأَكْبَرَgreatestl-akbara٢٤
Then Allāh will punish him with the greatest punishment.
88:25
إِنَّIndeedinnaإِلَيْنَآto Usilaynāإِيَابَهُمْ(will be) their returniyābahum٢٥
Indeed, to Us is their return.
88:26
ثُمَّThenthummaإِنَّindeedinnaعَلَيْنَاupon Usʿalaynāحِسَابَهُم(is) their accountḥisābahum٢٦
Then indeed, upon Us is their account.
