غافر

La sourate Ghafir (غافر) est le 40e chapitre du Saint Coran — une sourate Mecquoise de 85 versets. Les sourates mecquoises ont été révélées avant l'émigration du Prophète Muhammad (paix sur lui) à Médine et mettent souvent l'accent sur la foi, l'unicité de Dieu et l'au-delà.

بِسْمِIn (the) namebis'miٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousl-raḥmāniٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmi
Au nom d'Allah, le Tout Miséricordieux, le Très Miséricordieux
40:1
حمٓHa Meemhha-meem١
Hâ, Mîm .
40:2
تَنزِيلُ(The) revelationtanzīluٱلْكِتَـٰبِ(of) the Bookl-kitābiمِنَ(is) fromminaٱللَّهِAllahl-lahiٱلْعَزِيزِthe All-Mightyl-ʿazīziٱلْعَلِيمِthe All-Knowerl-ʿalīmi٢
La révélation du livre vient d’Allah, le Puissant, l’Omniscient.
40:3
غَافِرِ(The) Forgiverghāfiriٱلذَّنۢبِ(of) the sinl-dhanbiوَقَابِلِand (the) Acceptorwaqābiliٱلتَّوْبِ(of) [the] repentancel-tawbiشَدِيدِsevereshadīdiٱلْعِقَابِ(in) the punishmentl-ʿiqābiذِىOwner (of) the abundancedhīٱلطَّوْلِ ۖOwner (of) the abundancel-ṭawliلَآ(There is) nolāإِلَـٰهَgodilāhaإِلَّاexceptillāهُوَ ۖHimhuwaإِلَيْهِto Himilayhiٱلْمَصِيرُ(is) the final returnl-maṣīru٣
Le Pardonneur des péchés, l’Accueillant au repentir, le Dur en punition, le Détenteur des faveurs. Point de divinité à part Lui et vers Lui est la destination.
40:4
مَاNotmāيُجَـٰدِلُdisputeyujādiluفِىٓconcerningfīءَايَـٰتِ(the) Versesāyātiٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiإِلَّاexceptillāٱلَّذِينَthose whoalladhīnaكَفَرُوا۟disbelievekafarūفَلَاso (let) notfalāيَغْرُرْكَdeceive youyaghrur'kaتَقَلُّبُهُمْtheir movementtaqallubuhumفِىinfīٱلْبِلَـٰدِthe citiesl-bilādi٤
Seuls ceux qui ont mécru discutent les versets d’Allah. Que leurs activités dans le pays ne te trompent pas.
40:5
كَذَّبَتْDeniedkadhabatقَبْلَهُمْbefore themqablahumقَوْمُ(the) peopleqawmuنُوحٍۢ(of) Nuhnūḥinوَٱلْأَحْزَابُand the factionswal-aḥzābuمِنۢafter themminبَعْدِهِمْ ۖafter thembaʿdihimوَهَمَّتْand plottedwahammatكُلُّeverykulluأُمَّةٍۭnationummatinبِرَسُولِهِمْagainst their Messengerbirasūlihimلِيَأْخُذُوهُ ۖto seize himliyakhudhūhuوَجَـٰدَلُوا۟and they disputedwajādalūبِٱلْبَـٰطِلِby falsehoodbil-bāṭiliلِيُدْحِضُوا۟to refuteliyud'ḥiḍūبِهِtherebybihiٱلْحَقَّthe truthl-ḥaqaفَأَخَذْتُهُمْ ۖSo I seized themfa-akhadhtuhumفَكَيْفَThen howfakayfaكَانَwaskānaعِقَابِMy penaltyʿiqābi٥
Avant eux, le peuple de Noé a traité (Son Messager) de menteur, et les coalisés après eux (ont fait de même), et chaque communauté a conçu le dessin de s’emparer de Son Messager. Et ils ont discuté de faux arguments pour rejeter la vérité. Alors Je les ai saisis. Et quelle punition fut la Mienne !
40:6
وَكَذَٰلِكَAnd thuswakadhālikaحَقَّتْhas been justifiedḥaqqatكَلِمَتُ(the) Wordkalimatuرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordrabbikaعَلَىagainstʿalāٱلَّذِينَthose whoalladhīnaكَفَرُوٓا۟disbelievedkafarūأَنَّهُمْthat theyannahumأَصْحَـٰبُ(are) companionsaṣḥābuٱلنَّارِ(of) the Firel-nāri٦
Ainsi s’avéra juste la Parole de ton Seigneur contre ceux qui ont mécru : "Ils seront les gens du feu."
40:7
ٱلَّذِينَThose whoalladhīnaيَحْمِلُونَbearyaḥmilūnaٱلْعَرْشَthe Thronel-ʿarshaوَمَنْand whowamanحَوْلَهُۥ(are) around itḥawlahuيُسَبِّحُونَglorifyyusabbiḥūnaبِحَمْدِ(the) praisesbiḥamdiرَبِّهِمْ(of) their Lordrabbihimوَيُؤْمِنُونَand believewayu'minūnaبِهِۦin Himbihiوَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَand ask forgivenesswayastaghfirūnaلِلَّذِينَfor those wholilladhīnaءَامَنُوا۟believeāmanūرَبَّنَاOur LordrabbanāوَسِعْتَYou encompasswasiʿ'taكُلَّallkullaشَىْءٍۢthingsshayinرَّحْمَةًۭ(by Your) Mercyraḥmatanوَعِلْمًۭاand knowledgewaʿil'manفَٱغْفِرْso forgivefa-igh'firلِلَّذِينَthose wholilladhīnaتَابُوا۟repenttābūوَٱتَّبَعُوا۟and followwa-ittabaʿūسَبِيلَكَYour Waysabīlakaوَقِهِمْand save them (from)waqihimعَذَابَ(the) punishmentʿadhābaٱلْجَحِيمِ(of) the Hellfirel-jaḥīmi٧
Ceux (les Anges) qui portent le Trône et ceux qui l’entourent célèbrent les louanges de leur Seigneur, croient en Lui et implorent le pardon pour ceux qui croient : "Seigneur ! Tu étends sur toute chose Ta miséricorde et Ta science. Pardonne donc à ceux qui se repentent et suivent Ton chemin et protège-les du châtiment de l’Enfer.
40:8
رَبَّنَاOur LordrabbanāوَأَدْخِلْهُمْAnd admit themwa-adkhil'humجَنَّـٰتِ(to) Gardensjannātiعَدْنٍ(of) EdenʿadninٱلَّتِىwhichallatīوَعَدتَّهُمْYou have promised themwaʿadttahumوَمَنand whoeverwamanصَلَحَ(was) righteousṣalaḥaمِنْamongminءَابَآئِهِمْtheir fathersābāihimوَأَزْوَٰجِهِمْand their spouseswa-azwājihimوَذُرِّيَّـٰتِهِمْ ۚand their offspringwadhurriyyātihimإِنَّكَIndeed YouinnakaأَنتَYouantaٱلْعَزِيزُ(are) the All-Mightyl-ʿazīzuٱلْحَكِيمُthe All-Wisel-ḥakīmu٨
Seigneur ! Fais-les entrer aux jardins d’Eden que Tu leur as promis, ainsi qu’aux vertueux parmi leurs ancêtres, leurs épouses et leurs descendants, car c’est Toi le Puissant, le Sage.
40:9
وَقِهِمُAnd protect themwaqihimuٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ ۚ(from) the evilsl-sayiātiوَمَنAnd whoeverwamanتَقِyou protecttaqiٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ(from) the evilsl-sayiātiيَوْمَئِذٍۢthat Dayyawma-idhinفَقَدْthen verilyfaqadرَحِمْتَهُۥ ۚYou have bestowed mercy on himraḥim'tahuوَذَٰلِكَAnd thatwadhālikaهُوَ[it]huwaٱلْفَوْزُ(is) the successl-fawzuٱلْعَظِيمُthe greatl-ʿaẓīmu٩
Et préserve-les [du châtiment] des mauvaises actions. Quiconque Tu préserves [du châtiment] des mauvaises actions ce jour-là, Tu lui feras miséricorde." Et c’est là l’énorme succès.
40:10
إِنَّIndeedinnaٱلَّذِينَthose whoalladhīnaكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedkafarūيُنَادَوْنَwill be cried out to themyunādawnaلَمَقْتُCertainly Allah's hatredlamaqtuٱللَّهِCertainly Allah's hatredl-lahiأَكْبَرُ(was) greaterakbaruمِنthanminمَّقْتِكُمْyour hatredmaqtikumأَنفُسَكُمْ(of) yourselvesanfusakumإِذْwhenidhتُدْعَوْنَyou were calledtud'ʿawnaإِلَىtoilāٱلْإِيمَـٰنِthe faithl-īmāniفَتَكْفُرُونَand you disbelievedfatakfurūna١٠
A ceux qui n’auront pas cru on proclamera : "l’aversion d’Allah [envers vous] est plus grande que votre aversion envers vous-mêmes, lorsque vous étiez appelés à la foi et que vous persistiez dans la mécréance."
40:11
قَالُوا۟They (will) sayqālūرَبَّنَآOur LordrabbanāأَمَتَّنَاYou gave us deathamattanāٱثْنَتَيْنِtwiceith'natayniوَأَحْيَيْتَنَاand You gave us lifewa-aḥyaytanāٱثْنَتَيْنِtwiceith'natayniفَٱعْتَرَفْنَاand we confessfa-iʿ'tarafnāبِذُنُوبِنَاour sinsbidhunūbināفَهَلْSo is (there)fahalإِلَىٰtoilāخُرُوجٍۢget outkhurūjinمِّنanyminسَبِيلٍۢwaysabīlin١١
ils diront : "Notre Seigneur, tu nous as fait mourir deux fois, et redonné la vie deux fois : nous reconnaissons donc nos péchés. Y a-t-il un moyen d’en sortir?"
40:12
ذَٰلِكُمThatdhālikumبِأَنَّهُۥٓ(is) becausebi-annahuإِذَاwhenidhāدُعِىَAllah was invokedduʿiyaٱللَّهُAllah was invokedl-lahuوَحْدَهُۥAlonewaḥdahuكَفَرْتُمْ ۖyou disbelievedkafartumوَإِنbut ifwa-inيُشْرَكْ(others) were associatedyush'rakبِهِۦwith Himbihiتُؤْمِنُوا۟ ۚyou believedtu'minūفَٱلْحُكْمُSo the judgmentfal-ḥuk'muلِلَّهِ(is) with Allahlillahiٱلْعَلِىِّthe Most Highl-ʿaliyiٱلْكَبِيرِthe Most Greatl-kabīri١٢
"...Il en est ainsi car lorsqu’Allah était invoqué seul (sans associé), vous ne croyiez pas ; et si on Lui donnait des associés, alors vous croyiez. Le jugement appartient à Allah, le Très-Haut, le Très Grand."
40:13
هُوَHehuwaٱلَّذِى(is) the One Whoalladhīيُرِيكُمْshows youyurīkumءَايَـٰتِهِۦHis Signsāyātihiوَيُنَزِّلُand sends downwayunazziluلَكُمfor youlakumمِّنَfromminaٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyl-samāiرِزْقًۭا ۚprovisionriz'qanوَمَاBut (does) notwamāيَتَذَكَّرُtake heedyatadhakkaruإِلَّاexceptillāمَن(one) whomanيُنِيبُturnsyunību١٣
C’est Lui qui vous fait voir Ses preuves, et fait descendre du ciel, pour vous, une subsistance. Seul se rappelle celui qui revient [à Allah].
40:14
فَٱدْعُوا۟So invokefa-id'ʿūٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaمُخْلِصِينَ(being) sinceremukh'liṣīnaلَهُto Himlahuٱلدِّينَ(in) the religionl-dīnaوَلَوْeven thoughwalawكَرِهَdislike (it)karihaٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَthe disbelieversl-kāfirūna١٤
Invoquer Allah donc, en Lui vouant un culte exclusif, quelque répulsion qu’en aient les mécréants.
40:15
رَفِيعُPossessor of the Highest RanksrafīʿuٱلدَّرَجَـٰتِPossessor of the Highest Ranksl-darajātiذُوOwner (of) the ThronedhūٱلْعَرْشِOwner (of) the Thronel-ʿarshiيُلْقِىHe placesyul'qīٱلرُّوحَthe inspirationl-rūḥaمِنْofminأَمْرِهِۦHis CommandamrihiعَلَىٰuponʿalāمَنwhommanيَشَآءُHe willsyashāuمِنْofminعِبَادِهِۦHis slavesʿibādihiلِيُنذِرَto warnliyundhiraيَوْمَ(of the) Dayyawmaٱلتَّلَاقِ(of) the Meetingl-talāqi١٥
Il est Celui qui est élevé aux degrés les plus hauts, Possesseur du Trône, Il envoie par Son ordre l’Esprit sur celui qu’Il veut parmi Ses serviteurs, afin que celui-ci avertisse du jour de la Rencontre,
40:16
يَوْمَ(The) Dayyawmaهُمtheyhumبَـٰرِزُونَ ۖcome forthbārizūnaلَاnotlāيَخْفَىٰis hiddenyakhfāعَلَىfromʿalāٱللَّهِAllahl-lahiمِنْهُمْabout themmin'humشَىْءٌۭ ۚanythingshayonلِّمَنِFor whomlimaniٱلْمُلْكُ(is) the Dominionl-mul'kuٱلْيَوْمَ ۖthis Dayl-yawmaلِلَّهِFor Allahlillahiٱلْوَٰحِدِthe Onel-wāḥidiٱلْقَهَّارِthe Irresistiblel-qahāri١٦
le jour où ils comparaîtront sans que rien en eux ne soit caché à Allah. A qui appartient la royauté, aujourd’hui? A Allah, l’Unique, le Dominateur .
40:17
ٱلْيَوْمَThis Dayal-yawmaتُجْزَىٰwill be recompensedtuj'zāكُلُّeverykulluنَفْسٍۭsoulnafsinبِمَاfor whatbimāكَسَبَتْ ۚit earnedkasabatلَاNolāظُلْمَinjusticeẓul'maٱلْيَوْمَ ۚtodayl-yawmaإِنَّIndeedinnaٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaسَرِيعُ(is) Swiftsarīʿuٱلْحِسَابِ(in) Accountl-ḥisābi١٧
Ce jour-là, chaque âme sera rétribuée selon ce qu’elle aura acquis. Ce jour-là, pas d’injustice, car Allah est prompt dans [Ses] comptes.
40:18
وَأَنذِرْهُمْAnd warn themwa-andhir'humيَوْمَ(of the) Dayyawmaٱلْـَٔازِفَةِthe Approachingl-āzifatiإِذِwhenidhiٱلْقُلُوبُthe heartsl-qulūbuلَدَى(are) atladāٱلْحَنَاجِرِthe throatsl-ḥanājiriكَـٰظِمِينَ ۚchokedkāẓimīnaمَاNotmāلِلظَّـٰلِمِينَfor the wrongdoerslilẓẓālimīnaمِنْanyminحَمِيمٍۢintimate friendḥamīminوَلَاand nowalāشَفِيعٍۢintercessorshafīʿinيُطَاعُ(who) is obeyedyuṭāʿu١٨
et avertis-les du jour qui approche, quand les cœurs remonteront aux gorges, terrifiés (ou angoissés). Les injustes n’auront ni ami zélé, ni intercesseur écouté.
40:19
يَعْلَمُHe knowsyaʿlamuخَآئِنَةَ(the) stealthy glancekhāinataٱلْأَعْيُنِ(the) stealthy glancel-aʿyuniوَمَاand whatwamāتُخْفِىconcealtukh'fīٱلصُّدُورُthe breastsl-ṣudūru١٩
Il (Allah) connaît la trahison des yeux, tout comme ce que les poitrines cachent.
40:20
وَٱللَّهُAnd Allahwal-lahuيَقْضِىjudgesyaqḍīبِٱلْحَقِّ ۖin truthbil-ḥaqiوَٱلَّذِينَwhile those (whom)wa-alladhīnaيَدْعُونَthey invokeyadʿūnaمِنbesides Himminدُونِهِۦbesides Himdūnihiلَاnotlāيَقْضُونَthey judgeyaqḍūnaبِشَىْءٍ ۗwith anythingbishayinإِنَّIndeedinnaٱللَّهَAllah l-lahaهُوَHehuwaٱلسَّمِيعُ(is) the All-Hearerl-samīʿuٱلْبَصِيرُthe All-Seerl-baṣīru٢٠
Et Allah juge en toute équité, tandis que ceux qu’ils invoquent en dehors de lui ne jugent rien. En vérité c’est Allah qui est l’Audient, le Clairvoyant.
40:21
۞ أَوَلَمْDo notawalamيَسِيرُوا۟they travelyasīrūفِىinfīٱلْأَرْضِthe earthl-arḍiفَيَنظُرُوا۟and seefayanẓurūكَيْفَhowkayfaكَانَwaskānaعَـٰقِبَةُ(the) endʿāqibatuٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoalladhīnaكَانُوا۟werekānūمِنbefore themminقَبْلِهِمْ ۚbefore themqablihimكَانُوا۟They werekānūهُمْ[they]humأَشَدَّsuperiorashaddaمِنْهُمْto themmin'humقُوَّةًۭ(in) strengthquwwatanوَءَاثَارًۭاand (in) impressionswaāthāranفِىinfīٱلْأَرْضِthe landl-arḍiفَأَخَذَهُمُbut Allah seized themfa-akhadhahumuٱللَّهُbut Allah seized theml-lahuبِذُنُوبِهِمْfor their sinsbidhunūbihimوَمَاand notwamāكَانَwaskānaلَهُمfor themlahumمِّنَagainstminaٱللَّهِAllahl-lahiمِنanyminوَاقٍۢprotectorwāqin٢١
Ne parcourent-ils pas la terre, pour voir ce qu’il est advenu de ceux qui ont vécu avant eux ? Ils étaient [pourtant] plus forts qu’eux et ont laissé sur terre bien plus de vestiges. Allah les saisit pour leurs péchés et ils n’eurent point de protecteur contre Allah.
40:22
ذَٰلِكَThatdhālikaبِأَنَّهُمْ(was) because [they]bi-annahumكَانَتused to come to themkānatتَّأْتِيهِمْused to come to themtatīhimرُسُلُهُمtheir Messengersrusuluhumبِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِwith clear proofsbil-bayinātiفَكَفَرُوا۟but they disbelievedfakafarūفَأَخَذَهُمُSo Allah seized themfa-akhadhahumuٱللَّهُ ۚSo Allah seized theml-lahuإِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heinnahuقَوِىٌّۭ(is) All-Strongqawiyyunشَدِيدُsevereshadīduٱلْعِقَابِ(in) punishmentl-ʿiqābi٢٢
Ce fut ainsi, parce que leurs Messagers leur avaient apporté les preuves, mais ils se montrèrent mécréants. Allah donc les saisit, car Il est fort et redoutable dans Son châtiment.
40:23
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlywalaqadأَرْسَلْنَاWe sentarsalnāمُوسَىٰMusamūsāبِـَٔايَـٰتِنَاwith Our Signsbiāyātināوَسُلْطَـٰنٍۢand an authoritywasul'ṭāninمُّبِينٍclearmubīnin٢٣
Nous envoyâmes effectivement Moïse avec Nos signes et une preuve évidente,
40:24
إِلَىٰToilāفِرْعَوْنَFiraunfir'ʿawnaوَهَـٰمَـٰنَHamanwahāmānaوَقَـٰرُونَand Qarunwaqārūnaفَقَالُوا۟but they saidfaqālūسَـٰحِرٌۭA magiciansāḥirunكَذَّابٌۭa liarkadhābun٢٤
vers Pharaon, Hâmân et Coré. Mais ils dirent : "Magicien! Grand menteur !"
40:25
فَلَمَّاThen whenfalammāجَآءَهُمhe brought to themjāahumبِٱلْحَقِّthe truthbil-ḥaqiمِنْfromminعِندِنَاUsʿindināقَالُوا۟they saidqālūٱقْتُلُوٓا۟Killuq'tulūأَبْنَآءَ(the) sonsabnāaٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoalladhīnaءَامَنُوا۟believeāmanūمَعَهُۥwith himmaʿahuوَٱسْتَحْيُوا۟and let livewa-is'taḥyūنِسَآءَهُمْ ۚtheir womennisāahumوَمَاAnd notwamāكَيْدُ(is the) plotkayduٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ(of) the disbelieversl-kāfirīnaإِلَّاbutillāفِىinfīضَلَـٰلٍۢerrorḍalālin٢٥
Puis, quand il leur eut apporté la vérité venant de Nous ils dirent : "Tuez les fils de ceux qui ont cru avec lui, et laissez leurs femmes." Et les ruses des mécréants ne vont qu’en pure perte.
40:26
وَقَالَAnd saidwaqālaفِرْعَوْنُFiraunfir'ʿawnuذَرُونِىٓLeave medharūnīأَقْتُلْ(so that) I killaqtulمُوسَىٰMusamūsāوَلْيَدْعُand let him callwalyadʿuرَبَّهُۥٓ ۖhis LordrabbahuإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iinnīأَخَافُ[I] fearakhāfuأَنthatanيُبَدِّلَhe will changeyubaddilaدِينَكُمْyour religiondīnakumأَوْorawأَنthatanيُظْهِرَhe may cause to appearyuẓ'hiraفِىinfīٱلْأَرْضِthe landl-arḍiٱلْفَسَادَthe corruptionl-fasāda٢٦
Et Pharaon dit : "Laissez-moi tuer Moïse. Et qu’il appelle son Seigneur! Je crains qu’il ne change votre religion ou qu’il ne fasse apparaître la corruption sur terre."
40:27
وَقَالَAnd saidwaqālaمُوسَىٰٓMusamūsāإِنِّىIndeed, Iinnīعُذْتُ[I] seek refugeʿudh'tuبِرَبِّىin my Lordbirabbīوَرَبِّكُمand your Lordwarabbikumمِّنfromminكُلِّeverykulliمُتَكَبِّرٍۢarrogant onemutakabbirinلَّاnotlāيُؤْمِنُwho believesyu'minuبِيَوْمِ(in the) Daybiyawmiٱلْحِسَابِ(of) the Accountl-ḥisābi٢٧
Moïse [lui] dit : "Je cherche auprès de mon Seigneur et le vôtre, protection contre tout orgueilleux qui ne croit pas au jour du Compte."
40:28
وَقَالَAnd saidwaqālaرَجُلٌۭa manrajulunمُّؤْمِنٌۭbelievingmu'minunمِّنْfromminءَالِ(the) familyāliفِرْعَوْنَ(of) Firaunfir'ʿawnaيَكْتُمُwho conceal(ed)yaktumuإِيمَـٰنَهُۥٓhis faithīmānahuأَتَقْتُلُونَWill you killataqtulūnaرَجُلًاa manrajulanأَنbecauseanيَقُولَhe saysyaqūlaرَبِّىَMy Lordrabbiyaٱللَّهُ(is) Allahl-lahuوَقَدْand indeedwaqadجَآءَكُمhe has brought youjāakumبِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِclear proofsbil-bayinātiمِنfromminرَّبِّكُمْ ۖyour LordrabbikumوَإِنAnd ifwa-inيَكُhe isyakuكَـٰذِبًۭاa liarkādhibanفَعَلَيْهِthen upon himfaʿalayhiكَذِبُهُۥ ۖ(is) his liekadhibuhuوَإِنand ifwa-inيَكُhe isyakuصَادِقًۭاtruthfulṣādiqanيُصِبْكُم(there) will strike youyuṣib'kumبَعْضُsome (of)baʿḍuٱلَّذِى(that) whichalladhīيَعِدُكُمْ ۖhe threatens youyaʿidukumإِنَّIndeedinnaٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaلَا(does) notlāيَهْدِىguideyahdīمَنْ(one) whomanهُوَ[he]huwaمُسْرِفٌۭ(is) a transgressormus'rifunكَذَّابٌۭa liarkadhābun٢٨
Et un homme croyant de la famille de Pharaon, qui dissimulait sa foi, dit : "Tuerez-vous un homme parce qu’il dit: "Mon seigneur est Allah ?" Alors qu’il est venu à vous avec les preuves évidentes de la part de votre Seigneur. S’il est menteur, son mensonge sera à son détriment; tandis que s’il est véridique, alors une partie de ce dont il vous menace tombera sur vous." Certes, Allah ne guide pas celui qui est outrancier et imposteur !
40:29
يَـٰقَوْمِO my peopleyāqawmiلَكُمُFor youlakumuٱلْمُلْكُ(is) the kingdoml-mul'kuٱلْيَوْمَtodayl-yawmaظَـٰهِرِينَdominantẓāhirīnaفِىinfīٱلْأَرْضِthe landl-arḍiفَمَنbut whofamanيَنصُرُنَاwill help usyanṣurunāمِنۢfromminبَأْسِ(the) punishmentbasiٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiإِنifinجَآءَنَا ۚit came to usjāanāقَالَSaidqālaفِرْعَوْنُFiraunfir'ʿawnuمَآNotmāأُرِيكُمْI show youurīkumإِلَّاexceptillāمَآwhatmāأَرَىٰI seearāوَمَآand notwamāأَهْدِيكُمْI guide youahdīkumإِلَّاexceptillāسَبِيلَ(to the) pathsabīlaٱلرَّشَادِthe rightl-rashādi٢٩
"Ô mon peuple, triomphant sur la terre, vous avez la royauté aujourd’hui . Mais qui nous secourra de la rigueur d’Allah si elle nous vient ?" Pharaon dit : "Je ne vous indique que ce que je considère bon. Je ne vous guide qu’au sentier de la droiture."
40:30
وَقَالَAnd saidwaqālaٱلَّذِىٓ(he) whoalladhīءَامَنَbelievedāmanaيَـٰقَوْمِO my peopleyāqawmiإِنِّىٓIndeed Iinnīأَخَافُ[I] fearakhāfuعَلَيْكُمfor youʿalaykumمِّثْلَlikemith'laيَوْمِ(the) dayyawmiٱلْأَحْزَابِ(of) the companiesl-aḥzābi٣٠
Et celui qui était croyant dit : "Ô mon peuple, je crains pour vous un jour semblable à celui des coalisés.
40:31
مِثْلَLikemith'laدَأْبِ(the) plightdabiقَوْمِ(of the) peopleqawmiنُوحٍۢ(of) Nuhnūḥinوَعَادٍۢand Aadwaʿādinوَثَمُودَand Thamudwathamūdaوَٱلَّذِينَand thosewa-alladhīnaمِنۢafter themminبَعْدِهِمْ ۚafter thembaʿdihimوَمَاAnd Allah (does) notwamāٱللَّهُAnd Allah (does) notl-lahuيُرِيدُwantyurīduظُلْمًۭاinjusticeẓul'manلِّلْعِبَادِfor (His) slaveslil'ʿibādi٣١
Un sort semblable à celui du peuple de Noé, des 'Âd et des Thamûd, et de ceux [qui vécurent] après eux." Allah ne veut [faire subir] aucune injustice aux serviteurs.
40:32
وَيَـٰقَوْمِAnd O my peoplewayāqawmiإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iinnīأَخَافُ[I] fearakhāfuعَلَيْكُمْfor youʿalaykumيَوْمَ(the) Dayyawmaٱلتَّنَادِ(of) Callingl-tanādi٣٢
"Ô mon peuple, je crains pour vous le jour de l’Appel Mutuel ,
40:33
يَوْمَA Dayyawmaتُوَلُّونَyou will turn backtuwallūnaمُدْبِرِينَfleeingmud'birīnaمَاnotmāلَكُمfor youlakumمِّنَfromminaٱللَّهِAllahl-lahiمِنْanyminعَاصِمٍۢ ۗprotectorʿāṣiminوَمَنAnd whoeverwamanيُضْلِلِAllah lets go astrayyuḍ'liliٱللَّهُAllah lets go astrayl-lahuفَمَاthen notfamāلَهُۥfor himlahuمِنْanyminهَادٍۢguidehādin٣٣
Le jour où vous tournerez le dos en déroute, sans qu’il y ait pour vous de protecteur contre Allah." Et quiconque Allah égare, n’a point de guide.
40:34
وَلَقَدْAnd indeedwalaqadجَآءَكُمْcame to youjāakumيُوسُفُYusufyūsufuمِنbeforeminقَبْلُbeforeqabluبِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِwith clear proofsbil-bayinātiفَمَاbut notfamāزِلْتُمْyou ceasedzil'tumفِىinfīشَكٍّۢdoubtshakkinمِّمَّاabout whatmimmāجَآءَكُمhe brought to youjāakumبِهِۦ ۖ[with it]bihiحَتَّىٰٓuntilḥattāإِذَاwhenidhāهَلَكَhe diedhalakaقُلْتُمْyou saidqul'tumلَنNeverlanيَبْعَثَwill Allah raiseyabʿathaٱللَّهُwill Allah raisel-lahuمِنۢafter himminبَعْدِهِۦafter himbaʿdihiرَسُولًۭا ۚa MessengerrasūlanكَذَٰلِكَThuskadhālikaيُضِلُّAllah lets go astrayyuḍilluٱللَّهُAllah lets go astrayl-lahuمَنْwhomanهُوَ[he]huwaمُسْرِفٌۭ(is) a transgressormus'rifunمُّرْتَابٌa doubtermur'tābun٣٤
"Certes, Joseph vous est venu auparavant avec les preuves évidentes, mais vous n’avez jamais cessé d’avoir des doutes sur ce qu’il vous avait apporté. Mais lorsqu’il mourut, vous dites alors : "Allah n’enverra plus jamais de Messager après lui." Ainsi Allah égare-t-Il celui qui est outrancier et celui qui doute.
40:35
ٱلَّذِينَThose whoalladhīnaيُجَـٰدِلُونَdisputeyujādilūnaفِىٓconcerningfīءَايَـٰتِ(the) Signsāyātiٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiبِغَيْرِwithoutbighayriسُلْطَـٰنٍany authoritysul'ṭāninأَتَىٰهُمْ ۖ(having) come to thematāhumكَبُرَ(it) is greatlykaburaمَقْتًاhatefulmaqtanعِندَnear Allahʿindaٱللَّهِnear Allahl-lahiوَعِندَand nearwaʿindaٱلَّذِينَthosealladhīnaءَامَنُوا۟ ۚwho believeāmanūكَذَٰلِكَThuskadhālikaيَطْبَعُAllah sets a sealyaṭbaʿuٱللَّهُAllah sets a seall-lahuعَلَىٰoverʿalāكُلِّeverykulliقَلْبِheartqalbiمُتَكَبِّرٍۢ(of) an arrogantmutakabbirinجَبَّارٍۢtyrantjabbārin٣٥
Ceux qui discutent les prodiges d’Allah sans qu’aucune preuve ne leur soit venue, [leur action] est grandement haïssable auprès d’Allah et auprès de ceux qui croient. Ainsi Allah scelle-t-Il le cœur de tout orgueilleux tyran.
40:36
وَقَالَAnd saidwaqālaفِرْعَوْنُFiraunfir'ʿawnuيَـٰهَـٰمَـٰنُO HamanyāhāmānuٱبْنِConstructib'niلِىfor melīصَرْحًۭاa towerṣarḥanلَّعَلِّىٓthat I maylaʿallīأَبْلُغُreachablughuٱلْأَسْبَـٰبَthe waysl-asbāba٣٦
Et Pharaon dit : "Ô Hâmân, bâtis-moi une tour : peut- être atteindrai-je les voies,
40:37
أَسْبَـٰبَ(The) waysasbābaٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ(to) the heavensl-samāwātiفَأَطَّلِعَso I may lookfa-aṭṭaliʿaإِلَىٰٓatilāإِلَـٰهِ(the) Godilāhiمُوسَىٰ(of) Musamūsāوَإِنِّىand indeed, Iwa-innīلَأَظُنُّهُۥ[I] surely think himla-aẓunnuhuكَـٰذِبًۭا ۚ(to be) a liarkādhibanوَكَذَٰلِكَAnd thuswakadhālikaزُيِّنَwas made fair-seemingzuyyinaلِفِرْعَوْنَto Firaunlifir'ʿawnaسُوٓءُ(the) evilsūuعَمَلِهِۦ(of) his deedʿamalihiوَصُدَّand he was avertedwaṣuddaعَنِfromʿaniٱلسَّبِيلِ ۚthe wayl-sabīliوَمَاAnd notwamāكَيْدُ(was the) plotkayduفِرْعَوْنَ(of) Firaunfir'ʿawnaإِلَّاexceptillāفِىinfīتَبَابٍۢruintabābin٣٧
les voies des cieux, et apercevrai-je le Dieu de Moïse ; mais je pense que celui-ci est menteur." Ainsi la mauvaise action de Pharaon lui parut enjolivée ; et il fut détourné du droit chemin; et le stratagème de Pharaon n’est voué qu’à la destruction.
40:38
وَقَالَAnd saidwaqālaٱلَّذِىٓthe one whoalladhīءَامَنَbelievedāmanaيَـٰقَوْمِO my peopleyāqawmiٱتَّبِعُونِFollow meittabiʿūniأَهْدِكُمْI will guide youahdikumسَبِيلَ(to the) waysabīlaٱلرَّشَادِthe rightl-rashādi٣٨
Et celui qui avait-cru dit : "Ô mon peuple, suivez-moi. Je vous guiderai au sentier de la droiture.
40:39
يَـٰقَوْمِO my peopleyāqawmiإِنَّمَاOnlyinnamāهَـٰذِهِthishādhihiٱلْحَيَوٰةُthe lifel-ḥayatuٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the worldl-dun'yāمَتَـٰعٌۭ(is) enjoymentmatāʿunوَإِنَّand indeedwa-innaٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَthe Hereafter l-ākhirataهِىَithiyaدَارُ(is the) homedāruٱلْقَرَارِ(of) settlementl-qarāri٣٩
Ô mon peuple, cette vie n’est que jouissance temporaire, alors que l’au- delà est vraiment la demeure de la stabilité.
40:40
مَنْWhoevermanعَمِلَdoesʿamilaسَيِّئَةًۭan evilsayyi-atanفَلَاthen notfalāيُجْزَىٰٓhe will be recompensedyuj'zāإِلَّاbutillāمِثْلَهَا ۖ(the) like thereofmith'lahāوَمَنْand whoeverwamanعَمِلَdoesʿamilaصَـٰلِحًۭاrighteous (deeds)ṣāliḥanمِّنofminذَكَرٍmaledhakarinأَوْorawأُنثَىٰfemaleunthāوَهُوَwhile hewahuwaمُؤْمِنٌۭ(is) a believermu'minunفَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَthen thosefa-ulāikaيَدْخُلُونَwill enteryadkhulūnaٱلْجَنَّةَParadisel-janataيُرْزَقُونَthey will be given provisionyur'zaqūnaفِيهَاin itfīhāبِغَيْرِwithoutbighayriحِسَابٍۢaccountḥisābin٤٠
Quiconque fait une mauvaise action ne sera rétribué que par son pareil ; et quiconque, mâle ou femelle, fait une bonne action tout en étant croyant, alors ceux-là entreront au Paradis pour y recevoir leur subsistance sans compter.
40:41
۞ وَيَـٰقَوْمِAnd O my peoplewayāqawmiمَاWhat (is)māلِىٓfor melīأَدْعُوكُمْ(that) I call youadʿūkumإِلَىtoilāٱلنَّجَوٰةِthe salvationl-najatiوَتَدْعُونَنِىٓwhile you call mewatadʿūnanīإِلَىtoilāٱلنَّارِthe Firel-nāri٤١
Ô mon peuple, mais qu’ai-je à vous appeler au salut, alors que vous m’appelez au Feu ?
40:42
تَدْعُونَنِىYou call metadʿūnanīلِأَكْفُرَthat I disbelieveli-akfuraبِٱللَّهِin Allahbil-lahiوَأُشْرِكَand (to) associatewa-ush'rikaبِهِۦwith Himbihiمَاwhatmāلَيْسَnotlaysaلِىfor melīبِهِۦof itbihiعِلْمٌۭany knowledgeʿil'munوَأَنَا۠and Iwa-anāأَدْعُوكُمْcall youadʿūkumإِلَىtoilāٱلْعَزِيزِthe All-Mightyl-ʿazīziٱلْغَفَّـٰرِthe Oft-Forgivingl-ghafāri٤٢
Vous m’invitez à nier à Allah et à Lui donner des associés dont je n’ai aucun savoir, alors que je vous appelle au Tout Puissant, au Grand Pardonneur.
40:43
لَاNolāجَرَمَdoubtjaramaأَنَّمَاthat whatannamāتَدْعُونَنِىٓyou call metadʿūnanīإِلَيْهِto itilayhiلَيْسَnotlaysaلَهُۥfor itlahuدَعْوَةٌۭa claimdaʿwatunفِىinfīٱلدُّنْيَاthe worldl-dun'yāوَلَاand notwalāفِىinfīٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِthe Hereafterl-ākhiratiوَأَنَّand thatwa-annaمَرَدَّنَآour returnmaraddanāإِلَى(is) toilāٱللَّهِAllahl-lahiوَأَنَّand thatwa-annaٱلْمُسْرِفِينَthe transgressors l-mus'rifīnaهُمْtheyhumأَصْحَـٰبُ(will be the) companionsaṣḥābuٱلنَّارِ(of) the Firel-nāri٤٣
Nul doute que ce à quoi vous m’appelez ne peut exaucer une invocation ni ici-bas ni dans l’au-delà. C’est vers Allah qu’est notre retour, et les outranciers sont eux les gens du Feu.
40:44
فَسَتَذْكُرُونَAnd you will rememberfasatadhkurūnaمَآwhatmāأَقُولُI sayaqūluلَكُمْ ۚto youlakumوَأُفَوِّضُand I entrustwa-ufawwiḍuأَمْرِىٓmy affairamrīإِلَىtoilāٱللَّهِ ۚAllahl-lahiإِنَّIndeedinnaٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaبَصِيرٌۢ(is) All-Seerbaṣīrunبِٱلْعِبَادِof (His) slavesbil-ʿibādi٤٤
Bientôt vous vous rappellerez ce que je vous dis ; et je confie mon sort à Allah. Allah est, certes Clairvoyant sur les serviteurs.
40:45
فَوَقَىٰهُSo Allah protected himfawaqāhuٱللَّهُSo Allah protected himl-lahuسَيِّـَٔاتِ(from the) evilssayyiātiمَاthatmāمَكَرُوا۟ ۖthey plottedmakarūوَحَاقَand envelopedwaḥāqaبِـَٔالِ(the) peoplebiāliفِرْعَوْنَ(of) Firaunfir'ʿawnaسُوٓءُ(the) worstsūuٱلْعَذَابِpunishmentl-ʿadhābi٤٥
Allah donc le protégea des méfaits de leurs ruses, alors que le pire châtiment cerna les gens de Pharaon:
40:46
ٱلنَّارُThe Fireal-nāruيُعْرَضُونَthey are exposedyuʿ'raḍūnaعَلَيْهَاto itʿalayhāغُدُوًّۭاmorningghuduwwanوَعَشِيًّۭا ۖand eveningwaʿashiyyanوَيَوْمَAnd (the) Daywayawmaتَقُومُ(will be) establishedtaqūmuٱلسَّاعَةُthe Hourl-sāʿatuأَدْخِلُوٓا۟Cause to enteradkhilūءَالَ(the) peopleālaفِرْعَوْنَ(of) Firaunfir'ʿawnaأَشَدَّ(in the) severestashaddaٱلْعَذَابِpunishmentl-ʿadhābi٤٦
le Feu, auquel ils sont exposés matin et soir . Et le jour où l’Heure arrivera (il sera dit) : "Faites entrer les gens de Pharaon au plus dur du châtiment."
40:47
وَإِذْAnd whenwa-idhيَتَحَآجُّونَthey will disputeyataḥājjūnaفِىinfīٱلنَّارِthe Firel-nāriفَيَقُولُthen will sayfayaqūluٱلضُّعَفَـٰٓؤُا۟the weakl-ḍuʿafāuلِلَّذِينَto those wholilladhīnaٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟were arrogantis'takbarūإِنَّاIndeed, weinnāكُنَّا[we] werekunnāلَكُمْfor youlakumتَبَعًۭاfollowerstabaʿanفَهَلْso canfahalأَنتُمyouantumمُّغْنُونَavertmugh'nūnaعَنَّاfrom usʿannāنَصِيبًۭاa portionnaṣībanمِّنَofminaٱلنَّارِthe Firel-nāri٤٧
Et quand ils se disputeront dans le Feu, les faibles diront à ceux qui s’enflaient d’orgueil : "Nous vous avions suivis : pourriez-vous nous préserver d’une partie du feu ?"
40:48
قَالَWill sayqālaٱلَّذِينَthose whoalladhīnaٱسْتَكْبَرُوٓا۟(were) arrogantis'takbarūإِنَّاIndeed, weinnāكُلٌّۭallkullunفِيهَآ(are) in itfīhāإِنَّIndeedinnaٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaقَدْcertainlyqadحَكَمَhas judgedḥakamaبَيْنَbetweenbaynaٱلْعِبَادِ(His) slavesl-ʿibādi٤٨
Et ceux qui s’enflaient d’orgueil diront : "En vérité, nous y voilà tous." Allah a déjà rendu Son jugement entre les serviteurs.
40:49
وَقَالَAnd will saywaqālaٱلَّذِينَthosealladhīnaفِىinfīٱلنَّارِthe Firel-nāriلِخَزَنَةِto (the) keeperslikhazanatiجَهَنَّمَ(of) Helljahannamaٱدْعُوا۟Callid'ʿūرَبَّكُمْyour Lordrabbakumيُخَفِّفْ(to) lightenyukhaffifعَنَّاfor usʿannāيَوْمًۭاa dayyawmanمِّنَofminaٱلْعَذَابِthe punishmentl-ʿadhābi٤٩
Et ceux qui seront dans le Feu diront aux gardiens de l’Enfer : "Priez votre Seigneur de nous alléger un jour de [notre] supplice."
40:50
قَالُوٓا۟They (will) sayqālūأَوَلَمْDid there notawalamتَكُDid there nottakuتَأْتِيكُمْcome to youtatīkumرُسُلُكُمyour Messengersrusulukumبِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ ۖwith clear proofsbil-bayinātiقَالُوا۟They (will) sayqālūبَلَىٰ ۚYesbalāقَالُوا۟They (will) sayqālūفَٱدْعُوا۟ ۗThen callfa-id'ʿūوَمَاbut notwamāدُعَـٰٓؤُا۟(is the) callduʿāuٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ(of) the disbelieversl-kāfirīnaإِلَّاexceptillāفِىinfīضَلَـٰلٍerrorḍalālin٥٠
Ils diront : "Vos Messagers, ne vous apportaient-ils pas les preuves évidentes ?" Ils diront : "Si !" Ils [les gardiens] diront : "Eh bien, priez !" Et l’invocation des mécréants n’est qu’aberration.
40:51
إِنَّاIndeed WeinnāلَنَنصُرُWe will surely helplananṣuruرُسُلَنَاOur Messengersrusulanāوَٱلَّذِينَand those whowa-alladhīnaءَامَنُوا۟believeāmanūفِىinfīٱلْحَيَوٰةِthe lifel-ḥayatiٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the worldl-dun'yāوَيَوْمَand (on the) Daywayawmaيَقُومُ(when) will standyaqūmuٱلْأَشْهَـٰدُthe witnessesl-ashhādu٥١
Nous secourrons, certes, Nos Messagers, et ceux qui croient, dans la vie présente tout comme au jour où les témoins [les Anges gardiens] se dresseront (le jour du Jugement),
40:52
يَوْمَ(The) Dayyawmaلَاnotlāيَنفَعُwill benefityanfaʿuٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoersl-ẓālimīnaمَعْذِرَتُهُمْ ۖtheir excusemaʿdhiratuhumوَلَهُمُand for themwalahumuٱللَّعْنَةُ(is) the cursel-laʿnatuوَلَهُمْand for themwalahumسُوٓءُ(is the) worstsūuٱلدَّارِhomel-dāri٥٢
au jour où leur excuse ne sera pas utile aux injustes, tandis qu’il y aura pour eux la malédiction et la pire demeure.
40:53
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlywalaqadءَاتَيْنَاWe gaveātaynāمُوسَىMusamūsāٱلْهُدَىٰthe guidancel-hudāوَأَوْرَثْنَاand We caused to inheritwa-awrathnāبَنِىٓ(the) Children of Israelbanīإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(the) Children of Israelis'rāīlaٱلْكِتَـٰبَthe Bookl-kitāba٥٣
En effet, Nous avons apporté à Moïse la guidée, et fait hériter aux Enfants d’Israël, le Livre,
40:54
هُدًۭىA guidehudanوَذِكْرَىٰand a reminderwadhik'rāلِأُو۟لِىfor thoseli-ulīٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ(of) understandingl-albābi٥٤
une guidée et un rappel aux gens doués d’intelligence.
40:55
فَٱصْبِرْSo be patientfa-iṣ'birإِنَّindeedinnaوَعْدَ(the) Promise of Allahwaʿdaٱللَّهِ(the) Promise of Allahl-lahiحَقٌّۭ(is) trueḥaqqunوَٱسْتَغْفِرْAnd ask forgivenesswa-is'taghfirلِذَنۢبِكَfor your sinlidhanbikaوَسَبِّحْand glorifywasabbiḥبِحَمْدِ(the) praisebiḥamdiرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordrabbikaبِٱلْعَشِىِّin the eveningbil-ʿashiyiوَٱلْإِبْكَـٰرِand the morningwal-ib'kāri٥٥
Endure donc, car la promesse d’Allah est vérité, implore le pardon pour ton péché et célèbre la gloire et la louange de ton Seigneur, soir et matin .
40:56
إِنَّIndeedinnaٱلَّذِينَthose whoalladhīnaيُجَـٰدِلُونَdisputeyujādilūnaفِىٓconcerningfīءَايَـٰتِ(the) Signsāyātiٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiبِغَيْرِwithoutbighayriسُلْطَـٰنٍany authoritysul'ṭāninأَتَىٰهُمْ ۙ(which) came to thematāhumإِنnotinفِى(is) infīصُدُورِهِمْtheir breastsṣudūrihimإِلَّاbutillāكِبْرٌۭgreatnesskib'runمَّاnotmāهُمtheyhumبِبَـٰلِغِيهِ ۚ(can) reach itbibālighīhiفَٱسْتَعِذْSo seek refugefa-is'taʿidhبِٱللَّهِ ۖin Allahbil-lahiإِنَّهُۥIndeed HeinnahuهُوَHehuwaٱلسَّمِيعُ(is) the All-Hearerl-samīʿuٱلْبَصِيرُthe All-Seerl-baṣīru٥٦
Ceux qui discutent sur les versets d’Allah sans qu’aucune preuve ne leur soit venue, n’ont dans leurs poitrines qu’orgueil. Ils n’atteindront pas leur but. Implore donc la protection d’Allah, car c’est Lui l’Audient, le Clairvoyant.
40:57
لَخَلْقُSurely, (the) creationlakhalquٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensl-samāwātiوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthwal-arḍiأَكْبَرُ(is) greaterakbaruمِنْthanminخَلْقِ(the) creationkhalqiٱلنَّاسِ(of) the mankindl-nāsiوَلَـٰكِنَّbutwalākinnaأَكْثَرَmostaktharaٱلنَّاسِ(of) the peoplel-nāsiلَا(do) notlāيَعْلَمُونَknowyaʿlamūna٥٧
La création des cieux et de la terre est quelque chose de plus grand que la création des gens. Mais la plupart des gens ne savent pas.
40:58
وَمَاAnd notwamāيَسْتَوِى(are) equalyastawīٱلْأَعْمَىٰthe blindl-aʿmāوَٱلْبَصِيرُand the seeingwal-baṣīruوَٱلَّذِينَand those whowa-alladhīnaءَامَنُوا۟believeāmanūوَعَمِلُوا۟and dowaʿamilūٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِrighteous deedsl-ṣāliḥātiوَلَاand notwalāٱلْمُسِىٓءُ ۚthe evildoerl-musīuقَلِيلًۭاLittleqalīlanمَّا(is) whatmāتَتَذَكَّرُونَyou take heedtatadhakkarūna٥٨
L’aveugle et le voyant ne sont pas égaux, et ceux qui croient et accomplissent les bonnes œuvres ne peuvent être comparés à celui qui fait le mal. C’est rare que vous vous rappeliez !
40:59
إِنَّIndeedinnaٱلسَّاعَةَthe Hourl-sāʿataلَـَٔاتِيَةٌۭ(is) surely cominglaātiyatunلَّاnolāرَيْبَdoubtraybaفِيهَاin itfīhāوَلَـٰكِنَّbutwalākinnaأَكْثَرَmostaktharaٱلنَّاسِ(of) the peoplel-nāsiلَا(do) notlāيُؤْمِنُونَbelieveyu'minūna٥٩
En vérité; L’Heure va arriver : pas de doute là-dessus ; mais la plupart des gens n’y croient pas.
40:60
وَقَالَAnd saidwaqālaرَبُّكُمُyour LordrabbukumuٱدْعُونِىٓCall upon Meid'ʿūnīأَسْتَجِبْI will respondastajibلَكُمْ ۚto youlakumإِنَّIndeedinnaٱلَّذِينَthose whoalladhīnaيَسْتَكْبِرُونَ(are) proudyastakbirūnaعَنْtoʿanعِبَادَتِىworship Meʿibādatīسَيَدْخُلُونَwill entersayadkhulūnaجَهَنَّمَHelljahannamaدَاخِرِينَ(in) humiliationdākhirīna٦٠
Et votre Seigneur dit : "Appelez-Moi, Je vous répondrai. Ceux qui, par orgueil, se refusent à M’adorer entreront bientôt dans l’Enfer, humiliés."
40:61
ٱللَّهُAllahal-lahuٱلَّذِى(is) the One Whoalladhīجَعَلَmadejaʿalaلَكُمُfor youlakumuٱلَّيْلَthe nightal-laylaلِتَسْكُنُوا۟that you may restlitaskunūفِيهِin itfīhiوَٱلنَّهَارَand the daywal-nahāraمُبْصِرًا ۚgiving visibilitymub'ṣiranإِنَّIndeedinnaٱللَّهَAllahl-lahaلَذُو(is) Full (of) Bountyladhūفَضْلٍ(is) Full (of) Bountyfaḍlinعَلَىtoʿalāٱلنَّاسِthe peoplel-nāsiوَلَـٰكِنَّbutwalākinnaأَكْثَرَmostaktharaٱلنَّاسِ(of) the peoplel-nāsiلَا(do) notlāيَشْكُرُونَgive thanksyashkurūna٦١
Allah est celui qui vous a assigné la nuit pour que vous vous y reposiez, et le jour pour y voir clair. Allah est le Pourvoyeur de grâce aux hommes, mais la plupart des gens ne sont pas reconnaissants.
40:62
ذَٰلِكُمُThatdhālikumuٱللَّهُ(is) Allahl-lahuرَبُّكُمْyour Lordrabbukumخَـٰلِقُ(the) Creatorkhāliquكُلِّ(of) allkulliشَىْءٍۢthingsshayinلَّآ(there is) nolāإِلَـٰهَgodilāhaإِلَّاexceptillāهُوَ ۖHimhuwaفَأَنَّىٰSo howfa-annāتُؤْفَكُونَare you deludedtu'fakūna٦٢
Tel est votre Seigneur, Créateur de toute chose. Point de divinité à part Lui. Comment se fait-il que vous vous détourniez (du chemin droit) ?
40:63
كَذَٰلِكَThuskadhālikaيُؤْفَكُwere deludedyu'fakuٱلَّذِينَthose whoalladhīnaكَانُوا۟were kānūبِـَٔايَـٰتِ(the) Signsbiāyātiٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiيَجْحَدُونَrejectingyajḥadūna٦٣
Ainsi ceux qui nient les prodiges d’Allah se détourent-ils [du chemin droit].
40:64
ٱللَّهُAllahal-lahuٱلَّذِى(is) the One Whoalladhīجَعَلَmadejaʿalaلَكُمُfor youlakumuٱلْأَرْضَthe earthl-arḍaقَرَارًۭاa place of settlementqarāranوَٱلسَّمَآءَand the skywal-samāaبِنَآءًۭa canopybināanوَصَوَّرَكُمْand He formed youwaṣawwarakumفَأَحْسَنَand perfectedfa-aḥsanaصُوَرَكُمْyour formsṣuwarakumوَرَزَقَكُمand provided youwarazaqakumمِّنَofminaٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ ۚthe good thingsl-ṭayibātiذَٰلِكُمُThatdhālikumuٱللَّهُ(is) Allahl-lahuرَبُّكُمْ ۖyour LordrabbukumفَتَبَارَكَThen blessed (is)fatabārakaٱللَّهُAllahl-lahuرَبُّ(the) Lordrabbuٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna٦٤
C’est Allah qui vous a assigné la terre comme demeure stable et le ciel comme toit et vous a donné votre forme, - et quelle belle forme Il vous a donnée ! - et Il vous a nourris de bonnes choses. Tel est Allah, votre Seigneur; gloire à Allah, Seigneur de l’univers !
40:65
هُوَHehuwaٱلْحَىُّ(is) the Ever-Livingl-ḥayuلَآ(there is) nolāإِلَـٰهَgodilāhaإِلَّاbutillāهُوَHehuwaفَٱدْعُوهُso call Himfa-id'ʿūhuمُخْلِصِينَ(being) sinceremukh'liṣīnaلَهُto Himlahuٱلدِّينَ ۗ(in) the religionl-dīnaٱلْحَمْدُAll praise (be)l-ḥamduلِلَّهِto Allahlillahiرَبِّ(the) Lordrabbiٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna٦٥
C’est Lui le Vivant. Point de divinité à part Lui. Appelez-Le donc, en Lui vouant un culte exclusif. Louange à Allah, Seigneur de l’univers !
40:66
۞ قُلْSayqulإِنِّىIndeed, Iinnīنُهِيتُ[I] have been forbiddennuhītuأَنْtoanأَعْبُدَworshipaʿbudaٱلَّذِينَthose whomalladhīnaتَدْعُونَyou calltadʿūnaمِنbesidesminدُونِbesidesdūniٱللَّهِAllahl-lahiلَمَّاwhenlammāجَآءَنِىَhave come to mejāaniyaٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتُthe clear proofsl-bayinātuمِنfromminرَّبِّىmy Lordrabbīوَأُمِرْتُand I am commandedwa-umir'tuأَنْtoanأُسْلِمَsubmitus'limaلِرَبِّto (the) Lordlirabbiٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ(of) the worldsl-ʿālamīna٦٦
Dis : "Il m’a été interdit, une fois que les preuves me sont venues de mon Seigneur, d’adorer ceux que vous invoquez en dehors d’Allah, et il m’a été ordonné de me soumettre au Seigneur de l’univers."
40:67
هُوَHehuwaٱلَّذِى(is) the One Whoalladhīخَلَقَكُمcreated youkhalaqakumمِّنfromminتُرَابٍۢdustturābinثُمَّthenthummaمِنfromminنُّطْفَةٍۢa semen-dropnuṭ'fatinثُمَّthenthummaمِنْfromminعَلَقَةٍۢa clinging substanceʿalaqatinثُمَّthenthummaيُخْرِجُكُمْHe brings you outyukh'rijukumطِفْلًۭا(as) a childṭif'lanثُمَّthenthummaلِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟lets you reachlitablughūأَشُدَّكُمْyour maturityashuddakumثُمَّthenthummaلِتَكُونُوا۟lets you becomelitakūnūشُيُوخًۭا ۚold shuyūkhanوَمِنكُمand among youwaminkumمَّن(is he) whomanيُتَوَفَّىٰdiesyutawaffāمِنbefore minقَبْلُ ۖbefore qabluوَلِتَبْلُغُوٓا۟and lets you reachwalitablughūأَجَلًۭاa termajalanمُّسَمًّۭىspecifiedmusammanوَلَعَلَّكُمْand that you maywalaʿallakumتَعْقِلُونَuse reasontaʿqilūna٦٧
C’est Lui qui vous a créés de terre, puis d’une goutte sperme, puis d’une adhérence puis Il vous fait sortir petit enfant pour qu’ensuite vous atteigniez votre maturité et qu’ensuite vous deveniez vieux, - certains parmi vous meurent plus tôt, - et pour que vous atteigniez un terme fixé, afin que vous raisonniez.
40:68
هُوَHehuwaٱلَّذِى(is) the One Whoalladhīيُحْىِۦgives lifeyuḥ'yīوَيُمِيتُ ۖand causes deathwayumītuفَإِذَاAnd whenfa-idhāقَضَىٰٓHe decreesqaḍāأَمْرًۭاa matteramranفَإِنَّمَاthen onlyfa-innamāيَقُولُHe saysyaqūluلَهُۥto itlahuكُنBekunفَيَكُونُand it isfayakūnu٦٨
C’est Lui qui donne la vie et donne la mort. Puis quand Il décide une affaire, Il n’a qu’à dire : "Sois", et elle est.
40:69
أَلَمْDo notalamتَرَyou seetaraإِلَى[to]ilāٱلَّذِينَthose whoalladhīnaيُجَـٰدِلُونَdisputeyujādilūnaفِىٓconcerningfīءَايَـٰتِ(the) Signsāyātiٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiأَنَّىٰHowannāيُصْرَفُونَthey are turned awayyuṣ'rafūna٦٩
N’as-tu pas vu comment ceux qui discutent sur les versets d’Allah se laissent détourner ?
40:70
ٱلَّذِينَThose whoalladhīnaكَذَّبُوا۟denykadhabūبِٱلْكِتَـٰبِthe Bookbil-kitābiوَبِمَآand with whatwabimāأَرْسَلْنَاWe sentarsalnāبِهِۦwith itbihiرُسُلَنَا ۖOur Messengersrusulanāفَسَوْفَbut soonfasawfaيَعْلَمُونَthey will knowyaʿlamūna٧٠
Ceux qui traitent de mensonge le Livre (le Coran) et ce avec quoi Nous avons envoyé Nos messagers; ils sauront bientôt,
40:71
إِذِWhenidhiٱلْأَغْلَـٰلُthe iron collarsl-aghlāluفِىٓ(will be) aroundfīأَعْنَـٰقِهِمْtheir necksaʿnāqihimوَٱلسَّلَـٰسِلُand the chainswal-salāsiluيُسْحَبُونَthey will be draggedyus'ḥabūna٧١
quand, des carcans à leur cous et avec des chaînes ils seront traînés.
40:72
فِىInfīٱلْحَمِيمِthe boiling waterl-ḥamīmiثُمَّthenthummaفِىinfīٱلنَّارِthe Firel-nāriيُسْجَرُونَthey will be burnedyus'jarūna٧٢
dans l’eau bouillante ; et qu’ensuite ils brûleront dans le Feu.
40:73
ثُمَّThenthummaقِيلَit will be saidqīlaلَهُمْto themlahumأَيْنَWhereaynaمَا(is) that whichmāكُنتُمْyou used tokuntumتُشْرِكُونَassociatetush'rikūna٧٣
Puis on leur dira : "Où sont ceux que vous associez
40:74
مِنOther thanminدُونِOther thandūniٱللَّهِ ۖAllahl-lahiقَالُوا۟They will sayqālūضَلُّوا۟They have departedḍallūعَنَّاfrom usʿannāبَلNaybalلَّمْNotlamنَكُنwe used tonakunنَّدْعُوا۟[we] callnadʿūمِنbeforeminقَبْلُbeforeqabluشَيْـًۭٔا ۚanythingshayanكَذَٰلِكَThuskadhālikaيُضِلُّAllah lets go astrayyuḍilluٱللَّهُAllah lets go astrayl-lahuٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَthe disbelieversl-kāfirīna٧٤
à Allah ?" "Ils se sont écartés de nous, diront-ils. Ou plutôt, nous n’invoquions rien, auparavant." Ainsi Allah égare-t-il les mécréants.
40:75
ذَٰلِكُمThat wasdhālikumبِمَاbecausebimāكُنتُمْyou used tokuntumتَفْرَحُونَrejoicetafraḥūnaفِىinfīٱلْأَرْضِthe earthl-arḍiبِغَيْرِwithoutbighayriٱلْحَقِّrightl-ḥaqiوَبِمَاand becausewabimāكُنتُمْyou used tokuntumتَمْرَحُونَbe insolenttamraḥūna٧٥
Voilà le prix de votre exultation sur terre, sans raison, ainsi que de votre joie immodérée.
40:76
ٱدْخُلُوٓا۟Enterud'khulūأَبْوَٰبَ(the) gatesabwābaجَهَنَّمَ(of) Helljahannamaخَـٰلِدِينَ(to) abide foreverkhālidīnaفِيهَا ۖin itfīhāفَبِئْسَand wretched isfabi'saمَثْوَى(the) abodemathwāٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ(of) the arrogantl-mutakabirīna٧٦
Franchissez les portes de l’Enfer pour y demeurer éternellement. Qu’il est mauvais le lieu de séjour des orgueilleux !
40:77
فَٱصْبِرْSo be patientfa-iṣ'birإِنَّindeedinnaوَعْدَ(the) Promisewaʿdaٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiحَقٌّۭ ۚ(is) trueḥaqqunفَإِمَّاAnd whetherfa-immāنُرِيَنَّكَWe show younuriyannakaبَعْضَsomebaʿḍaٱلَّذِى(of) whatalladhīنَعِدُهُمْWe have promised themnaʿiduhumأَوْorawنَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَWe cause you to dienatawaffayannakaفَإِلَيْنَاthen to Usfa-ilaynāيُرْجَعُونَthey will be returnedyur'jaʿūna٧٧
Endure donc. La promesse d’Allah est vraie. Que Nous te montrions une partie de ce dont Nous les menaçons ou que Nous te fassions mourir (avant cela)... c’est vers Nous qu’ils seront ramenés.
40:78
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlywalaqadأَرْسَلْنَاWe have sentarsalnāرُسُلًۭاMessengersrusulanمِّنbefore youminقَبْلِكَbefore youqablikaمِنْهُمAmong themmin'humمَّن(are) who manقَصَصْنَاWe have relatedqaṣaṣnāعَلَيْكَto youʿalaykaوَمِنْهُمand among themwamin'humمَّن(are) who manلَّمْnotlamنَقْصُصْWe have relatednaqṣuṣعَلَيْكَ ۗto youʿalaykaوَمَاAnd notwamāكَانَiskānaلِرَسُولٍfor any Messengerlirasūlinأَنthatanيَأْتِىَhe bringsyatiyaبِـَٔايَةٍa Signbiāyatinإِلَّاexceptillāبِإِذْنِby (the) permissionbi-idh'niٱللَّهِ ۚ(of) Allahl-lahiفَإِذَاSo whenfa-idhāجَآءَcomesjāaأَمْرُ(the) Commandamruٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiقُضِىَit will be decidedquḍiyaبِٱلْحَقِّin truthbil-ḥaqiوَخَسِرَand will losewakhasiraهُنَالِكَtherehunālikaٱلْمُبْطِلُونَthe falsifiersl-mub'ṭilūna٧٨
Certes, Nous avons envoyé avant toi des Messagers. Il en est dont Nous t’avons raconté l’histoire ; et il en est dont Nous ne t’avons pas raconté l’histoire. Et il n’appartient pas à un Messager d’apporter un signe [ou verset] si ce n’est avec la permission d’Allah. Lorsque le commandement d’Allah viendra, tout sera décidé en toute justice; et ceux qui profèrent des mensonges sont alors les perdants.
40:79
ٱللَّهُAllahal-lahuٱلَّذِى(is) the One Whoalladhīجَعَلَmadejaʿalaلَكُمُfor youlakumuٱلْأَنْعَـٰمَthe cattlel-anʿāmaلِتَرْكَبُوا۟that you may ridelitarkabūمِنْهَاsome of themmin'hāوَمِنْهَاand some of themwamin'hāتَأْكُلُونَyou eattakulūna٧٩
C’est Allah qui vous a fait les bestiaux pour que vous en montiez et que vous en mangiez,
40:80
وَلَكُمْAnd for youwalakumفِيهَاin themfīhāمَنَـٰفِعُ(are) benefitsmanāfiʿuوَلِتَبْلُغُوا۟and that you may reachwalitablughūعَلَيْهَاthrough themʿalayhāحَاجَةًۭa needḥājatanفِى(that is) infīصُدُورِكُمْyour breastsṣudūrikumوَعَلَيْهَاand upon themwaʿalayhāوَعَلَىand uponwaʿalāٱلْفُلْكِthe shipsl-ful'kiتُحْمَلُونَyou are carriedtuḥ'malūna٨٠
et vous y avez des profits et afin que vous atteigniez sur eux une chose nécessaire qui vous tenait à cœur . C’est sur eux et sur les vaisseaux que vous êtes transportés.
40:81
وَيُرِيكُمْAnd He shows youwayurīkumءَايَـٰتِهِۦHis SignsāyātihiفَأَىَّThen whichfa-ayyaءَايَـٰتِ(of the) Signsāyātiٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiتُنكِرُونَwill you denytunkirūna٨١
Et Il vous montre Ses merveilles. Quelles merveilles d’Allah niez-vous donc ?
40:82
أَفَلَمْDo they notafalamيَسِيرُوا۟travelyasīrūفِىthroughfīٱلْأَرْضِthe landl-arḍiفَيَنظُرُوا۟and seefayanẓurūكَيْفَhowkayfaكَانَwaskānaعَـٰقِبَةُ(the) endʿāqibatuٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoalladhīnaمِن(were) before themminقَبْلِهِمْ ۚ(were) before themqablihimكَانُوٓا۟They werekānūأَكْثَرَmore numerousaktharaمِنْهُمْthan themmin'humوَأَشَدَّand mightierwa-ashaddaقُوَّةًۭ(in) strengthquwwatanوَءَاثَارًۭاand impressionswaāthāranفِىinfīٱلْأَرْضِthe landl-arḍiفَمَآbut notfamāأَغْنَىٰavailedaghnāعَنْهُمthemʿanhumمَّاwhatmāكَانُوا۟they used tokānūيَكْسِبُونَearnyaksibūna٨٢
Ne parcourent-ils donc pas la terre pour voir ce qu’il n’est advenue de ceux qui étaient avant eux ? Ils étaient [pourtant] plus nombreux qu’eux et bien plus puissants et ils [avaient laissé] sur terre beaucoup plus de vestiges. Mais ce qu’ils ont acquis ne leur a servi à rien.
40:83
فَلَمَّاThen whenfalammāجَآءَتْهُمْcame to themjāathumرُسُلُهُمtheir Messengersrusuluhumبِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِwith clear proofsbil-bayinātiفَرِحُوا۟they rejoicedfariḥūبِمَاin whatbimāعِندَهُمthey hadʿindahumمِّنَofminaٱلْعِلْمِthe knowledgel-ʿil'miوَحَاقَand envelopedwaḥāqaبِهِمthembihimمَّاwhatmāكَانُوا۟they used tokānūبِهِۦ[at it]bihiيَسْتَهْزِءُونَmockyastahziūna٨٣
Lorsque leurs Messagers leur apportaient les preuves évidentes, ils exultaient des connaissances qu’ils avaient. Et ce dont ils se moquaient les enveloppa.
40:84
فَلَمَّاSo whenfalammāرَأَوْا۟they sawra-awبَأْسَنَاOur punishmentbasanāقَالُوٓا۟they saidqālūءَامَنَّاWe believeāmannāبِٱللَّهِin Allahbil-lahiوَحْدَهُۥAlonewaḥdahuوَكَفَرْنَاand we disbelievewakafarnāبِمَاin whatbimāكُنَّاwe used tokunnāبِهِۦwith Himbihiمُشْرِكِينَassociatemush'rikīna٨٤
Puis, quand ils virent Notre rigueur ils dirent: "Nous croyons en Allah seul, et nous renions ce que nous Lui donnions comme associés."
40:85
فَلَمْBut did notfalamيَكُBut did notyakuيَنفَعُهُمْbenefit themyanfaʿuhumإِيمَـٰنُهُمْtheir faithīmānuhumلَمَّاwhenlammāرَأَوْا۟they sawra-awبَأْسَنَا ۖOur punishmentbasanāسُنَّتَ(Such is the) Waysunnataٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلَّتِىwhichallatīقَدْ(has) indeedqadخَلَتْprecededkhalatفِىamongfīعِبَادِهِۦ ۖHis slavesʿibādihiوَخَسِرَAnd are lostwakhasiraهُنَالِكَtherehunālikaٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَthe disbelieversl-kāfirūna٨٥
Mais leur croyance, au moment où ils eurent constaté Notre rigueur, ne leur profita point ; Telle est la règle d’Allah envers Ses serviteurs dans le passé. Et c’est là que les mécréants se trouvèrent perdants.
