بسملة

بِسْمِ In (the) name ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ the Most Gracious ٱلرَّحِيمِ the Most Merciful

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

٤٧:١

ٱلَّذِينَ Those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve وَصَدُّوا۟ and turn away عَن from سَبِيلِ (the) way of Allah ٱللَّهِ (the) way of Allah أَضَلَّ He will cause to be lost أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ their deeds ١ (1)

Those who disbelieve and avert [people] from the way of Allāh - He will waste their deeds.

٤٧:٢

وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe وَعَمِلُوا۟ and do ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ righteous deeds وَءَامَنُوا۟ and believe بِمَا in what نُزِّلَ is revealed عَلَىٰ to مُحَمَّدٍۢ Muhammad وَهُوَ and it ٱلْحَقُّ (is) the truth مِن from رَّبِّهِمْ ۙ their Lord كَفَّرَ He will remove عَنْهُمْ from them سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ their misdeeds وَأَصْلَحَ and improve بَالَهُمْ their condition ٢ (2)

And those who believe and do righteous deeds and believe in what has been sent down upon Muḥammad - and it is the truth from their Lord - He will remove from them their misdeeds and amend their condition.

٤٧:٣

ذَٰلِكَ That بِأَنَّ (is) because ٱلَّذِينَ those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ follow ٱلْبَـٰطِلَ falsehood وَأَنَّ and that ٱلَّذِينَ those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ follow ٱلْحَقَّ (the) truth مِن from رَّبِّهِمْ ۚ their Lord كَذَٰلِكَ Thus يَضْرِبُ Allah presents ٱللَّهُ Allah presents لِلنَّاسِ to the people أَمْثَـٰلَهُمْ their similitudes ٣ (3)

That is because those who disbelieve follow falsehood, and those who believe follow the truth from their Lord. Thus does Allāh present to the people their comparisons.

٤٧:٤

فَإِذَا So when لَقِيتُمُ you meet ٱلَّذِينَ those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve فَضَرْبَ then strike ٱلرِّقَابِ the necks حَتَّىٰٓ until إِذَآ when أَثْخَنتُمُوهُمْ you have subdued them فَشُدُّوا۟ then bind firmly ٱلْوَثَاقَ the bond فَإِمَّا then either مَنًّۢا a favor بَعْدُ afterwards وَإِمَّا or فِدَآءً ransom حَتَّىٰ until تَضَعَ lays down ٱلْحَرْبُ the war أَوْزَارَهَا ۚ its burdens ذَٰلِكَ That وَلَوْ And if يَشَآءُ Allah had willed ٱللَّهُ Allah had willed لَٱنتَصَرَ surely, He could have taken retribution مِنْهُمْ from them وَلَـٰكِن but لِّيَبْلُوَا۟ to test بَعْضَكُم some of you بِبَعْضٍۢ ۗ with others وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who قُتِلُوا۟ are killed فِى in سَبِيلِ (the) way of Allah ٱللَّهِ (the) way of Allah فَلَن then never يُضِلَّ He will cause to be lost أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ their deeds ٤ (4)

So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike [their] necks until, when you have inflicted slaughter upon them, then secure [their] bonds, and either [confer] favor afterwards or ransom [them] until the war lays down its burdens. That [is the command]. And if Allāh had willed, He could have taken vengeance upon them [Himself], but [He ordered armed struggle] to test some of you by means of others. And those who are killed in the cause of Allāh - never will He waste their deeds.

٤٧:٥

سَيَهْدِيهِمْ He will guide them وَيُصْلِحُ and improve بَالَهُمْ their condition ٥ (5)

He will guide them and amend their condition

٤٧:٦

وَيُدْخِلُهُمُ And admit them ٱلْجَنَّةَ (to) Paradise عَرَّفَهَا He has made it known لَهُمْ to them ٦ (6)

And admit them to Paradise, which He has made known to them.

٤٧:٧

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you who believe ٱلَّذِينَ O you who believe ءَامَنُوٓا۟ O you who believe إِن If تَنصُرُوا۟ you help ٱللَّهَ Allah يَنصُرْكُمْ He will help you وَيُثَبِّتْ and make firm أَقْدَامَكُمْ your feet ٧ (7)

O you who have believed, if you support Allāh, He will support you and plant firmly your feet.

٤٧:٨

وَٱلَّذِينَ But those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve فَتَعْسًۭا destruction (is) لَّهُمْ for them وَأَضَلَّ and He will cause to be lost أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ their deeds ٨ (8)

But those who disbelieve - for them is misery, and He will waste their deeds.

٤٧:٩

ذَٰلِكَ That بِأَنَّهُمْ (is) because they كَرِهُوا۟ hate مَآ what أَنزَلَ Allah has revealed ٱللَّهُ Allah has revealed فَأَحْبَطَ so He has made worthless أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ their deeds ٩ (9)

That is because they disliked what Allāh revealed, so He rendered worthless their deeds.

٤٧:١٠

۞ أَفَلَمْ Do not يَسِيرُوا۟ they travel فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth فَيَنظُرُوا۟ and see كَيْفَ how كَانَ was عَـٰقِبَةُ (the) end ٱلَّذِينَ (of) those مِن before them قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ before them دَمَّرَ Allah destroyed ٱللَّهُ Allah destroyed عَلَيْهِمْ ۖ [over] them وَلِلْكَـٰفِرِينَ and for the disbelievers أَمْثَـٰلُهَا its likeness ١٠ (10)

Have they not traveled through the land and seen how was the end of those before them? Allāh destroyed [everything] over them, and for the disbelievers is something comparable.

٤٧:١١

ذَٰلِكَ That بِأَنَّ (is) because ٱللَّهَ Allah مَوْلَى (is the) Protector ٱلَّذِينَ (of) those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe وَأَنَّ and that ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ the disbelievers لَا (there is) no مَوْلَىٰ protector لَهُمْ for them ١١ (11)

That is because Allāh is the protector of those who have believed and because the disbelievers have no protector.

٤٧:١٢

إِنَّ Indeed ٱللَّهَ Allah يُدْخِلُ will admit ٱلَّذِينَ those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe وَعَمِلُوا۟ and do ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ righteous deeds جَنَّـٰتٍۢ (to) Gardens تَجْرِى flow مِن from تَحْتِهَا underneath it ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۖ the rivers وَٱلَّذِينَ but those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve يَتَمَتَّعُونَ they enjoy وَيَأْكُلُونَ and eat كَمَا as تَأْكُلُ eat ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمُ the cattle وَٱلنَّارُ and the Fire مَثْوًۭى (will be) an abode لَّهُمْ for them ١٢ (12)

Indeed, Allāh will admit those who have believed and done righteous deeds to gardens beneath which rivers flow, but those who disbelieve enjoy themselves and eat as grazing livestock eat, and the Fire will be a residence for them.

٤٧:١٣

وَكَأَيِّن And how many مِّن of قَرْيَةٍ a town هِىَ which أَشَدُّ (was) stronger قُوَّةًۭ (in) strength مِّن than قَرْيَتِكَ your town ٱلَّتِىٓ which أَخْرَجَتْكَ has driven you out أَهْلَكْنَـٰهُمْ We destroyed them فَلَا so no نَاصِرَ helper لَهُمْ for them ١٣ (13)

And how many a city was stronger than your city [i.e., Makkah] which drove you out? We destroyed them; and there was no helper for them.

٤٧:١٤

أَفَمَن Then is (he) who كَانَ is عَلَىٰ on بَيِّنَةٍۢ a clear proof مِّن from رَّبِّهِۦ his Lord كَمَن like (he) who زُيِّنَ is made attractive لَهُۥ to him سُوٓءُ (the) evil عَمَلِهِۦ (of) his deeds وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ while they follow أَهْوَآءَهُم their desires ١٤ (14)

So is he who is on clear evidence from his Lord like him to whom the evil of his work has been made attractive and they follow their [own] desires?

٤٧:١٥

مَّثَلُ A parable ٱلْجَنَّةِ (of) Paradise ٱلَّتِى which وُعِدَ is promised ٱلْمُتَّقُونَ ۖ (to) the righteous فِيهَآ Therein أَنْهَـٰرٌۭ (are) rivers مِّن of مَّآءٍ water غَيْرِ not ءَاسِنٍۢ polluted وَأَنْهَـٰرٌۭ and rivers مِّن of لَّبَنٍۢ milk لَّمْ not يَتَغَيَّرْ changes طَعْمُهُۥ its taste وَأَنْهَـٰرٌۭ and rivers مِّنْ of خَمْرٍۢ wine لَّذَّةٍۢ delicious لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ for (the) drinkers وَأَنْهَـٰرٌۭ and rivers مِّنْ of عَسَلٍۢ honey مُّصَفًّۭى ۖ purified وَلَهُمْ and for them فِيهَا therein مِن of كُلِّ all ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ fruits وَمَغْفِرَةٌۭ and forgiveness مِّن from رَّبِّهِمْ ۖ their Lord كَمَنْ like he who هُوَ like he who خَـٰلِدٌۭ (will) abide forever فِى in ٱلنَّارِ the Fire وَسُقُوا۟ and they will be given to drink مَآءً water حَمِيمًۭا boiling فَقَطَّعَ so it cuts into pieces أَمْعَآءَهُمْ their intestines ١٥ (15)

Is the description of Paradise, which the righteous are promised, wherein are rivers of water unaltered, rivers of milk the taste of which never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who drink, and rivers of purified honey, in which they will have from all [kinds of] fruits and forgiveness from their Lord... [Are its inhabitants] like those who abide eternally in the Fire and are given to drink scalding water that will sever their intestines?

٤٧:١٦

وَمِنْهُم And among them مَّن (are some) who يَسْتَمِعُ listen إِلَيْكَ to you حَتَّىٰٓ until إِذَا when خَرَجُوا۟ they depart مِنْ from عِندِكَ you قَالُوا۟ they say لِلَّذِينَ to those who أُوتُوا۟ were given ٱلْعِلْمَ the knowledge مَاذَا What قَالَ (has) he said ءَانِفًا ۚ just now أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ٱلَّذِينَ (are) the ones طَبَعَ Allah has set a seal ٱللَّهُ Allah has set a seal عَلَىٰ upon قُلُوبِهِمْ their hearts وَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟ and they follow أَهْوَآءَهُمْ their desires ١٦ (16)

And among them, [O Muḥammad], are those who listen to you, until when they depart from you, they say to those who were given knowledge, "What has he said just now?" Those are the ones of whom Allāh has sealed over their hearts and who have followed their [own] desires.

٤٧:١٧

وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who ٱهْتَدَوْا۟ accept guidance زَادَهُمْ He increases them هُدًۭى (in) guidance وَءَاتَىٰهُمْ and gives them تَقْوَىٰهُمْ their righteousness ١٧ (17)

And those who are guided - He increases them in guidance and gives them their righteousness.

٤٧:١٨

فَهَلْ Then do يَنظُرُونَ they wait إِلَّا but ٱلسَّاعَةَ (for) the Hour أَن that تَأْتِيَهُم it should come to them بَغْتَةًۭ ۖ suddenly فَقَدْ But indeed جَآءَ have come أَشْرَاطُهَا ۚ its indications فَأَنَّىٰ Then how لَهُمْ to them إِذَا when جَآءَتْهُمْ has come to them ذِكْرَىٰهُمْ their reminder ١٨ (18)

Then do they await except that the Hour should come upon them unexpectedly? But already there have come [some of] its indications. Then how [i.e., what good] to them, when it has come, will be their remembrance?

٤٧:١٩

فَٱعْلَمْ So know أَنَّهُۥ that [He] لَآ (there is) no إِلَـٰهَ god إِلَّا but ٱللَّهُ Allah وَٱسْتَغْفِرْ and ask forgiveness لِذَنۢبِكَ for your sin وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ and for the believing men وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَـٰتِ ۗ and the believing women وَٱللَّهُ And Allah يَعْلَمُ knows مُتَقَلَّبَكُمْ your movement وَمَثْوَىٰكُمْ and your resting places ١٩ (19)

So know, [O Muḥammad], that there is no deity except Allāh and ask forgiveness for your sin and for the believing men and believing women. And Allāh knows of your movement and your resting place.

٤٧:٢٠

وَيَقُولُ And say ٱلَّذِينَ those who ءَامَنُوا۟ believe لَوْلَا Why not نُزِّلَتْ has been revealed سُورَةٌۭ ۖ a Surah فَإِذَآ But when أُنزِلَتْ is revealed سُورَةٌۭ a Surah مُّحْكَمَةٌۭ precise وَذُكِرَ and is mentioned فِيهَا in it ٱلْقِتَالُ ۙ the fighting رَأَيْتَ you see ٱلَّذِينَ those who فِى in قُلُوبِهِم their hearts مَّرَضٌۭ (is) a disease يَنظُرُونَ looking إِلَيْكَ at you نَظَرَ a look ٱلْمَغْشِىِّ (of) one fainting عَلَيْهِ (of) one fainting مِنَ from ٱلْمَوْتِ ۖ the death فَأَوْلَىٰ But more appropriate لَهُمْ for them ٢٠ (20)

Those who believe say, "Why has a sūrah not been sent down?" But when a precise sūrah is revealed and battle is mentioned therein, you see those in whose hearts is disease [i.e., hypocrisy] looking at you with a look of one overcome by death. And more appropriate for them [would have been]

٤٧:٢١

طَاعَةٌۭ (Is) obedience وَقَوْلٌۭ and a word مَّعْرُوفٌۭ ۚ kind فَإِذَا And when عَزَمَ (is) determined ٱلْأَمْرُ the matter فَلَوْ then if صَدَقُوا۟ they had been true ٱللَّهَ (to) Allah لَكَانَ surely, it would have been خَيْرًۭا better لَّهُمْ for them ٢١ (21)

Obedience and good words. And when the matter [of fighting] was determined, if they had been true to Allāh, it would have been better for them.

٤٧:٢٢

فَهَلْ Then would عَسَيْتُمْ you perhaps إِن if تَوَلَّيْتُمْ you are given authority أَن that تُفْسِدُوا۟ you cause corruption فِى in ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth وَتُقَطِّعُوٓا۟ and cut off أَرْحَامَكُمْ your ties of kinship ٢٢ (22)

So would you perhaps, if you turned away, cause corruption on earth and sever your [ties of] relationship?

٤٧:٢٣

أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ٱلَّذِينَ (are) the ones لَعَنَهُمُ Allah has cursed them ٱللَّهُ Allah has cursed them فَأَصَمَّهُمْ so He made them deaf وَأَعْمَىٰٓ and blinded أَبْصَـٰرَهُمْ their vision ٢٣ (23)

Those [who do so] are the ones that Allāh has cursed, so He deafened them and blinded their vision.

٤٧:٢٤

أَفَلَا Then do not يَتَدَبَّرُونَ they ponder ٱلْقُرْءَانَ (over) the Quran أَمْ or عَلَىٰ upon قُلُوبٍ (their) hearts أَقْفَالُهَآ (are) locks ٢٤ (24)

Then do they not reflect upon the Qur’ān, or are there locks upon [their] hearts?

٤٧:٢٥

إِنَّ Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ those who ٱرْتَدُّوا۟ return عَلَىٰٓ on أَدْبَـٰرِهِم their backs مِّنۢ after بَعْدِ after مَا what تَبَيَّنَ (has) become clear لَهُمُ to them ٱلْهُدَى ۙ (of) the guidance ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ Shaitaan سَوَّلَ enticed لَهُمْ [for] them وَأَمْلَىٰ and prolonged hope لَهُمْ for them ٢٥ (25)

Indeed, those who reverted back [to disbelief] after guidance had become clear to them - Satan enticed them and prolonged hope for them.

٤٧:٢٦

ذَٰلِكَ That بِأَنَّهُمْ (is) because they قَالُوا۟ [they] said لِلَّذِينَ to those who كَرِهُوا۟ hate مَا what نَزَّلَ Allah has revealed ٱللَّهُ Allah has revealed سَنُطِيعُكُمْ We will obey you فِى in بَعْضِ part ٱلْأَمْرِ ۖ (of) the matter وَٱللَّهُ But Allah يَعْلَمُ knows إِسْرَارَهُمْ their secrets ٢٦ (26)

That is because they said to those who disliked what Allāh sent down, "We will obey you in part of the matter." And Allāh knows what they conceal.

٤٧:٢٧

فَكَيْفَ Then how إِذَا when تَوَفَّتْهُمُ take them in death ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ the Angels يَضْرِبُونَ striking وُجُوهَهُمْ their faces وَأَدْبَـٰرَهُمْ and their backs ٢٧ (27)

Then how [will it be] when the angels take them in death, striking their faces and their backs?

٤٧:٢٨

ذَٰلِكَ That بِأَنَّهُمُ (is) because they ٱتَّبَعُوا۟ followed مَآ what أَسْخَطَ angered ٱللَّهَ Allah وَكَرِهُوا۟ and hated رِضْوَٰنَهُۥ His pleasure فَأَحْبَطَ so He made worthless أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ their deeds ٢٨ (28)

That is because they followed what angered Allāh and disliked [what earns] His pleasure, so He rendered worthless their deeds.

٤٧:٢٩

أَمْ Or do حَسِبَ think ٱلَّذِينَ those who فِى in قُلُوبِهِم their hearts مَّرَضٌ (is) a disease أَن that لَّن never يُخْرِجَ will Allah bring forth ٱللَّهُ will Allah bring forth أَضْغَـٰنَهُمْ their hatred ٢٩ (29)

Or do those in whose hearts is disease think that Allāh would never expose their [feelings of] hatred?

٤٧:٣٠

وَلَوْ And if نَشَآءُ We willed لَأَرَيْنَـٰكَهُمْ surely, We could show them to you فَلَعَرَفْتَهُم and you would know them بِسِيمَـٰهُمْ ۚ by their marks وَلَتَعْرِفَنَّهُمْ but surely, you will know them فِى by لَحْنِ (the) tone ٱلْقَوْلِ ۚ (of their) speech وَٱللَّهُ And Allah يَعْلَمُ knows أَعْمَـٰلَكُمْ your deeds ٣٠ (30)

And if We willed, We could show them to you, and you would know them by their mark; but you will surely know them by the tone of [their] speech. And Allāh knows your deeds.

٤٧:٣١

وَلَنَبْلُوَنَّكُمْ And surely We will test you حَتَّىٰ until نَعْلَمَ We make evident ٱلْمُجَـٰهِدِينَ those who strive مِنكُمْ among you وَٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ and the patient ones وَنَبْلُوَا۟ and We will test أَخْبَارَكُمْ your affairs ٣١ (31)

And We will surely test you until We make evident those who strive among you [for the cause of Allāh] and the patient, and We will test your affairs.

٤٧:٣٢

إِنَّ Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve وَصَدُّوا۟ and turn away عَن from سَبِيلِ (the) way of Allah ٱللَّهِ (the) way of Allah وَشَآقُّوا۟ and oppose ٱلرَّسُولَ the Messenger مِنۢ after بَعْدِ after مَا [what] تَبَيَّنَ (has been) made clear لَهُمُ to them ٱلْهُدَىٰ the guidance لَن never يَضُرُّوا۟ will they harm ٱللَّهَ Allah شَيْـًۭٔا (in) anything وَسَيُحْبِطُ and He will make worthless أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ their deeds ٣٢ (32)

Indeed, those who disbelieved and averted [people] from the path of Allāh and opposed the Messenger after guidance had become clear to them - never will they harm Allāh at all, and He will render worthless their deeds.

٤٧:٣٣

۞ يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا O you who believe ٱلَّذِينَ O you who believe ءَامَنُوٓا۟ O you who believe أَطِيعُوا۟ Obey ٱللَّهَ Allah وَأَطِيعُوا۟ and obey ٱلرَّسُولَ the Messenger وَلَا and (do) not تُبْطِلُوٓا۟ make vain أَعْمَـٰلَكُمْ your deeds ٣٣ (33)

O you who have believed, obey Allāh and obey the Messenger and do not invalidate your deeds.

٤٧:٣٤

إِنَّ Indeed ٱلَّذِينَ those who كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve وَصَدُّوا۟ and turn away عَن from سَبِيلِ (the) way ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah ثُمَّ then مَاتُوا۟ died وَهُمْ while they كُفَّارٌۭ (were) disbelievers فَلَن never يَغْفِرَ will Allah forgive ٱللَّهُ will Allah forgive لَهُمْ them ٣٤ (34)

Indeed, those who disbelieved and averted [people] from the path of Allāh and then died while they were disbelievers - never will Allāh forgive them.

٤٧:٣٥

فَلَا So (do) not تَهِنُوا۟ weaken وَتَدْعُوٓا۟ and call إِلَى for ٱلسَّلْمِ peace وَأَنتُمُ while you ٱلْأَعْلَوْنَ (are) superior وَٱللَّهُ and Allah مَعَكُمْ (is) with you وَلَن and never يَتِرَكُمْ will deprive you أَعْمَـٰلَكُمْ (of) your deeds ٣٥ (35)

So do not weaken and call for peace while you are superior; and Allāh is with you and will never deprive you of [the reward of] your deeds.

٤٧:٣٦

إِنَّمَا Only ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ the life ٱلدُّنْيَا (of) the world لَعِبٌۭ (is) play وَلَهْوٌۭ ۚ and amusement وَإِن And if تُؤْمِنُوا۟ you believe وَتَتَّقُوا۟ and fear (Allah) يُؤْتِكُمْ He will give you أُجُورَكُمْ your rewards وَلَا and not يَسْـَٔلْكُمْ will ask you أَمْوَٰلَكُمْ (for) your wealth ٣٦ (36)

[This] worldly life is only amusement and diversion. And if you believe and fear Allāh, He will give you your rewards and not ask you for your properties.

٤٧:٣٧

إِن If يَسْـَٔلْكُمُوهَا He were to ask you for it فَيُحْفِكُمْ and press you تَبْخَلُوا۟ you will withhold وَيُخْرِجْ and He will bring forth أَضْغَـٰنَكُمْ your hatred ٣٧ (37)

If He should ask you for them and press you, you would withhold, and He would expose your hatred [i.e., unwillingness].

٤٧:٣٨

هَـٰٓأَنتُمْ Here you are هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ these تُدْعَوْنَ called لِتُنفِقُوا۟ to spend فِى in سَبِيلِ (the) way ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah فَمِنكُم but among you مَّن (are some) who يَبْخَلُ ۖ withhold وَمَن and whoever يَبْخَلْ withholds فَإِنَّمَا then only يَبْخَلُ he withholds عَن from نَّفْسِهِۦ ۚ himself وَٱللَّهُ But Allah ٱلْغَنِىُّ (is) Free of need وَأَنتُمُ while you ٱلْفُقَرَآءُ ۚ (are) the needy وَإِن And if تَتَوَلَّوْا۟ you turn away يَسْتَبْدِلْ He will replace you قَوْمًا (with) a people غَيْرَكُمْ other than you ثُمَّ then لَا not يَكُونُوٓا۟ they will be أَمْثَـٰلَكُم (the) likes of you ٣٨ (38)

Here you are - those invited to spend in the cause of Allāh - but among you are those who withhold [out of greed]. And whoever withholds only withholds [benefit] from himself; and Allāh is the Free of need, while you are the needy. And if you turn away [i.e., refuse], He will replace you with another people; then they will not be the likes of you.
