Meccan 40 Ayahs Juz 1
القيامة

Surah Al-Qiyamah (القيامة) is chapter 75 of the Holy Quran — a Meccan surah of 40 verses (ayahs). Meccan surahs were revealed before the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) migrated to Medina and most often emphasise faith, the oneness of God and the hereafter.

Bismillah
بِسْمِIn (the) namebis'miٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousl-raḥmāniٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmi
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
75:1
لَآNayأُقْسِمُI swearuq'simuبِيَوْمِby (the) Daybiyawmiٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionl-qiyāmati١
I swear by the Day of Resurrection
75:2
وَلَآAnd naywalāأُقْسِمُI swearuq'simuبِٱلنَّفْسِby the soulbil-nafsiٱللَّوَّامَةِself-accusingl-lawāmati٢
And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection].
75:3
أَيَحْسَبُDoes thinkayaḥsabuٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ[the] manl-insānuأَلَّنthat notallanنَّجْمَعَWe will assemblenajmaʿaعِظَامَهُۥhis bonesʿiẓāmahu٣
Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?
75:4
بَلَىٰNaybalāقَـٰدِرِينَ(We are) AbleqādirīnaعَلَىٰٓonʿalāأَنthatanنُّسَوِّىَWe can restorenusawwiyaبَنَانَهُۥhis fingertipsbanānahu٤
Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips.
75:5
بَلْNaybalيُرِيدُDesiresyurīduٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ[the] manl-insānuلِيَفْجُرَto give (the) lieliyafjuraأَمَامَهُۥ(to) what is before himamāmahu٥
But man desires to continue in sin.
75:6
يَسْـَٔلُHe asksyasaluأَيَّانَWhenayyānaيَوْمُ(is the) Dayyawmuٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionl-qiyāmati٦
He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?"
75:7
فَإِذَاSo whenfa-idhāبَرِقَis dazzledbariqaٱلْبَصَرُthe visionl-baṣaru٧
So when vision is dazzled.
75:8
وَخَسَفَAnd becomes darkwakhasafaٱلْقَمَرُthe moonl-qamaru٨
And the moon darkens.
75:9
وَجُمِعَAnd are joinedwajumiʿaٱلشَّمْسُthe sunl-shamsuوَٱلْقَمَرُand the moonwal-qamaru٩
And the sun and the moon are joined,
75:10
يَقُولُWill sayyaqūluٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ[the] manl-insānuيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayyawma-idhinأَيْنَWhereaynaٱلْمَفَرُّ(is) the escapel-mafaru١٠
Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?"
75:11
كَلَّاBy no meanskallāلَا(There is) noوَزَرَrefugewazara١١
No! There is no refuge.
75:12
إِلَىٰToilāرَبِّكَyour Lordrabbikaيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayyawma-idhinٱلْمُسْتَقَرُّ(is) the place of restl-mus'taqaru١٢
To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.
75:13
يُنَبَّؤُا۟Will be informedyunabba-uٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ[the] manl-insānuيَوْمَئِذٍۭthat Dayyawma-idhinبِمَاof whatbimāقَدَّمَhe sent forthqaddamaوَأَخَّرَand kept backwa-akhara١٣
Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back.
75:14
بَلِNaybaliٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ[The] manl-insānuعَلَىٰagainstʿalāنَفْسِهِۦhimselfnafsihiبَصِيرَةٌۭ(will be) a witnessbaṣīratun١٤
Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness,
75:15
وَلَوْEven ifwalawأَلْقَىٰhe presentsalqāمَعَاذِيرَهُۥhis excusesmaʿādhīrahu١٥
Even if he presents his excuses.
75:16
لَاNotتُحَرِّكْmovetuḥarrikبِهِۦwith itbihiلِسَانَكَyour tonguelisānakaلِتَعْجَلَto hastenlitaʿjalaبِهِۦٓwith itbihi١٦
Move not your tongue with it, [O Muḥammad], to hasten with it [i.e., recitation of the Qur’ān].
75:17
إِنَّIndeedinnaعَلَيْنَاupon Usʿalaynāجَمْعَهُۥ(is) its collectionjamʿahuوَقُرْءَانَهُۥand its recitationwaqur'ānahu١٧
Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.
75:18
فَإِذَاAnd whenfa-idhāقَرَأْنَـٰهُWe have recited itqaranāhuفَٱتَّبِعْthen followfa-ittabiʿقُرْءَانَهُۥits recitationqur'ānahu١٨
So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.
75:19
ثُمَّThenthummaإِنَّindeedinnaعَلَيْنَاupon Usʿalaynāبَيَانَهُۥ(is) its explanationbayānahu١٩
Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].
75:20
كَلَّاNokallāبَلْButbalتُحِبُّونَyou lovetuḥibbūnaٱلْعَاجِلَةَthe immediatel-ʿājilata٢٠
No! But you [i.e., mankind] love the immediate
75:21
وَتَذَرُونَAnd leavewatadharūnaٱلْـَٔاخِرَةَthe Hereafterl-ākhirata٢١
And leave [i.e., neglect] the Hereafter.
75:22
وُجُوهٌۭFaceswujūhunيَوْمَئِذٍۢthat Dayyawma-idhinنَّاضِرَةٌ(will be) radiantnāḍiratun٢٢
[Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant,
75:23
إِلَىٰTowardsilāرَبِّهَاtheir Lordrabbihāنَاظِرَةٌۭlookingnāẓiratun٢٣
Looking at their Lord.
75:24
وَوُجُوهٌۭAnd faceswawujūhunيَوْمَئِذٍۭthat Dayyawma-idhinبَاسِرَةٌۭ(will be) distortedbāsiratun٢٤
And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted,
75:25
تَظُنُّThinkingtaẓunnuأَنthatanيُفْعَلَwill be doneyuf'ʿalaبِهَاto thembihāفَاقِرَةٌۭbackbreakingfāqiratun٢٥
Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking.
75:26
كَلَّآNokallāإِذَاWhenidhāبَلَغَتِit reachesbalaghatiٱلتَّرَاقِىَthe collar bonesl-tarāqiya٢٦
No! When it [i.e., the soul] has reached the collar bones
75:27
وَقِيلَAnd it is saidwaqīlaمَنْ ۜWhomanرَاقٍۢ(will) curerāqin٢٧
And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?"
75:28
وَظَنَّAnd he is certainwaẓannaأَنَّهُthat itannahuٱلْفِرَاقُ(is) the partingl-firāqu٢٨
And he [i.e., the dying one] is certain that it is the [time of] separation
75:29
وَٱلْتَفَّتِAnd is woundwal-tafatiٱلسَّاقُthe legl-sāquبِٱلسَّاقِabout the legbil-sāqi٢٩
And the leg is wound about the leg,
75:30
إِلَىٰToilāرَبِّكَyour Lordrabbikaيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayyawma-idhinٱلْمَسَاقُ(will be) the drivingl-masāqu٣٠
To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession.
75:31
فَلَاAnd notfalāصَدَّقَhe accepted (the) truthṣaddaqaوَلَاand notwalāصَلَّىٰhe prayedṣallā٣١
And he [i.e., the disbeliever] had not believed, nor had he prayed.
75:32
وَلَـٰكِنButwalākinكَذَّبَhe deniedkadhabaوَتَوَلَّىٰand turned awaywatawallā٣٢
But [instead], he denied and turned away.
75:33
ثُمَّThenthummaذَهَبَhe wentdhahabaإِلَىٰٓtoilāأَهْلِهِۦhis familyahlihiيَتَمَطَّىٰٓswaggeringyatamaṭṭā٣٣
And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride].
75:34
أَوْلَىٰWoeawlāلَكَto youlakaفَأَوْلَىٰand woefa-awlā٣٤
Woe to you, and woe!
75:35
ثُمَّThenthummaأَوْلَىٰwoeawlāلَكَto youlakaفَأَوْلَىٰٓand woefa-awlā٣٥
Then woe to you, and woe!
75:36
أَيَحْسَبُDoes thinkayaḥsabuٱلْإِنسَـٰنُmanl-insānuأَنthatanيُتْرَكَhe will be leftyut'rakaسُدًىneglectedsudan٣٦
Does man think that he will be left neglected?
75:37
أَلَمْWas notalamيَكُheyakuنُطْفَةًۭa semen-dropnuṭ'fatanمِّنofminمَّنِىٍّۢsemenmaniyyinيُمْنَىٰemittedyum'nā٣٧
Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted?
75:38
ثُمَّThenthummaكَانَhe waskānaعَلَقَةًۭa clinging substanceʿalaqatanفَخَلَقَthen He createdfakhalaqaفَسَوَّىٰand proportionedfasawwā٣٨
Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allāh] created [his form] and proportioned [him]
75:39
فَجَعَلَThen madefajaʿalaمِنْهُof himmin'huٱلزَّوْجَيْنِtwo kindsl-zawjayniٱلذَّكَرَ(the) malel-dhakaraوَٱلْأُنثَىٰٓand the femalewal-unthā٣٩
And made of him two mates, the male and the female.
75:40
أَلَيْسَIs notalaysaذَٰلِكَ[that]dhālikaبِقَـٰدِرٍ(He) Ablebiqādirinعَلَىٰٓ[over]ʿalāأَنtoanيُحْـِۧىَgive lifeyuḥ'yiyaٱلْمَوْتَىٰ(to) the deadl-mawtā٤٠
Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?
