الأنبياء

بِسْمِ In (the) name bis'mi
In (the) name
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمِ the Most Merciful l-raḥīmi
the Most Merciful
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
٢١:١
ٱقْتَرَبَ (Has) approached iq'taraba
(Has) approached
لِلنَّاسِ for [the] mankind lilnnāsi
for [the] mankind
حِسَابُهُمْ their account ḥisābuhum
their account
وَهُمْ while they wahum
while they
فِى (are) in
(are) in
غَفْلَةٍۢ heedlessness ghaflatin
heedlessness
مُّعْرِضُونَ turning away muʿ'riḍūna
turning away
١ (1)
(1)
[The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away.
٢١:٢
مَا Not
Not
يَأْتِيهِم comes to them yatīhim
comes to them
مِّن of min
of
ذِكْرٍۢ a Reminder dhik'rin
a Reminder
مِّن from min
from
رَّبِّهِم their Lord rabbihim
their Lord
مُّحْدَثٍ anew muḥ'dathin
anew
إِلَّا except illā
except
ٱسْتَمَعُوهُ they listen to it is'tamaʿūhu
they listen to it
وَهُمْ while they wahum
while they
يَلْعَبُونَ (are at) play yalʿabūna
(are at) play
٢ (2)
(2)
No mention [i.e., revelation] comes to them anew from their Lord except that they listen to it while they are at play
٢١:٣
لَاهِيَةًۭ Distracted lāhiyatan
Distracted
قُلُوبُهُمْ ۗ their hearts qulūbuhum
their hearts
وَأَسَرُّوا۟ And they conceal wa-asarrū
And they conceal
ٱلنَّجْوَى the private conversation l-najwā
the private conversation
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
ظَلَمُوا۟ [they] wronged ẓalamū
[they] wronged
هَلْ Is hal
Is
هَـٰذَآ this hādhā
this
إِلَّا except illā
except
بَشَرٌۭ a human being basharun
a human being
مِّثْلُكُمْ ۖ like you mith'lukum
like you
أَفَتَأْتُونَ So would you approach afatatūna
So would you approach
ٱلسِّحْرَ the magic l-siḥ'ra
the magic
وَأَنتُمْ while you wa-antum
while you
تُبْصِرُونَ see (it) tub'ṣirūna
see (it)
٣ (3)
(3)
With their hearts distracted. And those who do wrong conceal their private conversation, [saying], "Is this [Prophet] except a human being like you? So would you approach magic while you are aware [of it]?"
٢١:٤
قَالَ He said qāla
He said
رَبِّى My Lord rabbī
My Lord
يَعْلَمُ knows yaʿlamu
knows
ٱلْقَوْلَ the word l-qawla
the word
فِى in
in
ٱلسَّمَآءِ the heavens l-samāi
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۖ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa
And He
ٱلسَّمِيعُ (is) the All-Hearer l-samīʿu
(is) the All-Hearer
ٱلْعَلِيمُ the All-Knower l-ʿalīmu
the All-Knower
٤ (4)
(4)
He [the Prophet (ﷺ)] said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing."
٢١:٥
بَلْ Nay bal
Nay
قَالُوٓا۟ they say qālū
they say
أَضْغَـٰثُ Muddled aḍghāthu
Muddled
أَحْلَـٰمٍۭ dreams aḥlāmin
dreams
بَلِ nay bali
nay
ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ he (has) invented it if'tarāhu
he (has) invented it
بَلْ nay bal
nay
هُوَ he huwa
he
شَاعِرٌۭ (is) a poet shāʿirun
(is) a poet
فَلْيَأْتِنَا So let him bring us falyatinā
So let him bring us
بِـَٔايَةٍۢ a sign biāyatin
a sign
كَمَآ like what kamā
like what
أُرْسِلَ was sent ur'sila
was sent
ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ (to) the former l-awalūna
(to) the former
٥ (5)
(5)
But they say, "[The revelation is but] a mixture of false dreams; rather, he has invented it; rather, he is a poet. So let him bring us a sign just as the previous [messengers] were sent [with miracles]."
٢١:٦
مَآ Not
Not
ءَامَنَتْ believed āmanat
believed
قَبْلَهُم before them qablahum
before them
مِّن any min
any
قَرْيَةٍ town qaryatin
town
أَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآ ۖ which We destroyed ahlaknāhā
which We destroyed
أَفَهُمْ so will they afahum
so will they
يُؤْمِنُونَ believe yu'minūna
believe
٦ (6)
(6)
Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe?
٢١:٧
وَمَآ And not wamā
And not
أَرْسَلْنَا We sent arsalnā
We sent
قَبْلَكَ before you qablaka
before you
إِلَّا except illā
except
رِجَالًۭا men rijālan
men
نُّوحِىٓ We revealed nūḥī
We revealed
إِلَيْهِمْ ۖ to them ilayhim
to them
فَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟ So ask fasalū
So ask
أَهْلَ (the) people ahla
(the) people
ٱلذِّكْرِ (of) the Reminder l-dhik'ri
(of) the Reminder
إِن if in
if
كُنتُمْ you kuntum
you
لَا (do) not
(do) not
تَعْلَمُونَ know taʿlamūna
know
٧ (7)
(7)
And We sent not before you, [O Muḥammad], except men to whom We revealed [the message], so ask the people of the message [i.e., former scriptures] if you do not know.
٢١:٨
وَمَا And not wamā
And not
جَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ We made them jaʿalnāhum
We made them
جَسَدًۭا bodies jasadan
bodies
لَّا not
not
يَأْكُلُونَ eating yakulūna
eating
ٱلطَّعَامَ the food l-ṭaʿāma
the food
وَمَا and not wamā
and not
كَانُوا۟ they were kānū
they were
خَـٰلِدِينَ immortals khālidīna
immortals
٨ (8)
(8)
And We did not make them [i.e., the prophets] forms not eating food, nor were they immortal [on earth].
٢١:٩
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
صَدَقْنَـٰهُمُ We fulfilled (for) them ṣadaqnāhumu
We fulfilled (for) them
ٱلْوَعْدَ the promise l-waʿda
the promise
فَأَنجَيْنَـٰهُمْ and We saved them fa-anjaynāhum
and We saved them
وَمَن and whom waman
and whom
نَّشَآءُ We willed nashāu
We willed
وَأَهْلَكْنَا and We destroyed wa-ahlaknā
and We destroyed
ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ the transgressors l-mus'rifīna
the transgressors
٩ (9)
(9)
Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors.
٢١:١٠
لَقَدْ Indeed laqad
Indeed
أَنزَلْنَآ We (have) sent down anzalnā
We (have) sent down
إِلَيْكُمْ to you ilaykum
to you
كِتَـٰبًۭا a Book kitāban
a Book
فِيهِ in it fīhi
in it
ذِكْرُكُمْ ۖ (is) your mention dhik'rukum
(is) your mention
أَفَلَا Then will not afalā
Then will not
تَعْقِلُونَ you use reason taʿqilūna
you use reason
١٠ (10)
(10)
We have certainly sent down to you a Book [i.e., the Qur’ān] in which is your mention. Then will you not reason?
٢١:١١
وَكَمْ And how many wakam
And how many
قَصَمْنَا We (have) shattered qaṣamnā
We (have) shattered
مِن of min
of
قَرْيَةٍۢ a town qaryatin
a town
كَانَتْ (that) was kānat
(that) was
ظَالِمَةًۭ unjust ẓālimatan
unjust
وَأَنشَأْنَا and We produced wa-anshanā
and We produced
بَعْدَهَا after them baʿdahā
after them
قَوْمًا another people qawman
another people
ءَاخَرِينَ another people ākharīna
another people
١١ (11)
(11)
And how many a city which was unjust have We shattered and produced after it another people.
٢١:١٢
فَلَمَّآ Then when falammā
Then when
أَحَسُّوا۟ they perceived aḥassū
they perceived
بَأْسَنَآ Our torment basanā
Our torment
إِذَا behold idhā
behold
هُم they hum
they
مِّنْهَا from it min'hā
from it
يَرْكُضُونَ were fleeing yarkuḍūna
were fleeing
١٢ (12)
(12)
And when they [i.e., its inhabitants] perceived Our punishment, at once they fled from it.
٢١:١٣
لَا Flee not
Flee not
تَرْكُضُوا۟ Flee not tarkuḍū
Flee not
وَٱرْجِعُوٓا۟ but return wa-ir'jiʿū
but return
إِلَىٰ to ilā
to
مَآ what
what
أُتْرِفْتُمْ you were given luxury ut'rif'tum
you were given luxury
فِيهِ in it fīhi
in it
وَمَسَـٰكِنِكُمْ and to your homes wamasākinikum
and to your homes
لَعَلَّكُمْ so that you may laʿallakum
so that you may
تُسْـَٔلُونَ be questioned tus'alūna
be questioned
١٣ (13)
(13)
[Some angels said], "Do not flee but return to where you were given luxury and to your homes - perhaps you will be questioned."1
٢١:١٤
قَالُوا۟ They said qālū
They said
يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ O woe to us yāwaylanā
O woe to us
إِنَّا Indeed, [we] innā
Indeed, [we]
كُنَّا we were kunnā
we were
ظَـٰلِمِينَ wrongdoers ẓālimīna
wrongdoers
١٤ (14)
(14)
They said, "O woe to us! Indeed, we were wrongdoers."
٢١:١٥
فَمَا Then not famā
Then not
زَالَت ceased zālat
ceased
تِّلْكَ [this] til'ka
[this]
دَعْوَىٰهُمْ their cry daʿwāhum
their cry
حَتَّىٰ until ḥattā
until
جَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ We made them jaʿalnāhum
We made them
حَصِيدًا reaped ḥaṣīdan
reaped
خَـٰمِدِينَ extinct khāmidīna
extinct
١٥ (15)
(15)
And that declaration of theirs did not cease until We made them [as] a harvest [mowed down], extinguished [like a fire].
٢١:١٦
وَمَا And not wamā
And not
خَلَقْنَا We created khalaqnā
We created
ٱلسَّمَآءَ the heavens l-samāa
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ and the earth wal-arḍa
and the earth
وَمَا and what wamā
and what
بَيْنَهُمَا (is) between them baynahumā
(is) between them
لَـٰعِبِينَ (for) playing lāʿibīna
(for) playing
١٦ (16)
(16)
And We did not create the heaven and earth and that between them in play.
٢١:١٧
لَوْ If law
If
أَرَدْنَآ We intended aradnā
We intended
أَن that an
that
نَّتَّخِذَ We take nattakhidha
We take
لَهْوًۭا a pastime lahwan
a pastime
لَّٱتَّخَذْنَـٰهُ surely We (could have) taken it la-ittakhadhnāhu
surely We (could have) taken it
مِن from min
from
لَّدُنَّآ Us ladunnā
Us
إِن if in
if
كُنَّا We were kunnā
We were
فَـٰعِلِينَ doers fāʿilīna
doers
١٧ (17)
(17)
Had We intended to take a diversion, We could have taken it from [what is] with Us - if [indeed] We were to do so.
٢١:١٨
بَلْ Nay bal
Nay
نَقْذِفُ We hurl naqdhifu
We hurl
بِٱلْحَقِّ the truth bil-ḥaqi
the truth
عَلَى against ʿalā
against
ٱلْبَـٰطِلِ [the] falsehood l-bāṭili
[the] falsehood
فَيَدْمَغُهُۥ and it breaks its head fayadmaghuhu
and it breaks its head
فَإِذَا behold fa-idhā
behold
هُوَ it (is) huwa
it (is)
زَاهِقٌۭ ۚ vanishing zāhiqun
vanishing
وَلَكُمُ And for you walakumu
And for you
ٱلْوَيْلُ (is) destruction l-waylu
(is) destruction
مِمَّا for what mimmā
for what
تَصِفُونَ you ascribe taṣifūna
you ascribe
١٨ (18)
(18)
Rather, We dash the truth upon falsehood, and it destroys it, and thereupon it departs. And for you is destruction from that which you describe.
٢١:١٩
وَلَهُۥ And to Him (belongs) walahu
And to Him (belongs)
مَن whoever man
whoever
فِى (is) in
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَمَنْ And (those) who waman
And (those) who
عِندَهُۥ (are) near Him ʿindahu
(are) near Him
لَا not
not
يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ they are arrogant yastakbirūna
they are arrogant
عَنْ to ʿan
to
عِبَادَتِهِۦ worship Him ʿibādatihi
worship Him
وَلَا and not walā
and not
يَسْتَحْسِرُونَ they tire yastaḥsirūna
they tire
١٩ (19)
(19)
To Him belongs whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And those near Him [i.e., the angels] are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, nor do they tire.
٢١:٢٠
يُسَبِّحُونَ They glorify (Him) yusabbiḥūna
They glorify (Him)
ٱلَّيْلَ [the] night al-layla
[the] night
وَٱلنَّهَارَ and [the] day wal-nahāra
and [the] day
لَا not
not
يَفْتُرُونَ they slacken yafturūna
they slacken
٢٠ (20)
(20)
They exalt [Him] night and day [and] do not slacken.
٢١:٢١
أَمِ Or ami
Or
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟ (have) they taken ittakhadhū
(have) they taken
ءَالِهَةًۭ gods ālihatan
gods
مِّنَ from mina
from
ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
هُمْ they hum
they
يُنشِرُونَ raise (the dead) yunshirūna
raise (the dead)
٢١ (21)
(21)
Or have they [i.e., men] taken for themselves gods from the earth who resurrect [the dead]?
٢١:٢٢
لَوْ If law
If
كَانَ (there) were kāna
(there) were
فِيهِمَآ in both of them fīhimā
in both of them
ءَالِهَةٌ gods ālihatun
gods
إِلَّا besides illā
besides
ٱللَّهُ Allah l-lahu
Allah
لَفَسَدَتَا ۚ surely they (would) have been ruined lafasadatā
surely they (would) have been ruined
فَسُبْحَـٰنَ So glorified fasub'ḥāna
So glorified
ٱللَّهِ (is) Allah l-lahi
(is) Allah
رَبِّ Lord rabbi
Lord
ٱلْعَرْشِ (of) the Throne l-ʿarshi
(of) the Throne
عَمَّا (above) what ʿammā
(above) what
يَصِفُونَ they attribute yaṣifūna
they attribute
٢٢ (22)
(22)
Had there been within them [i.e., the heavens and earth] gods besides Allāh, they both would have been ruined. So exalted is Allāh, Lord of the Throne, above what they describe.
٢١:٢٣
لَا Not
Not
يُسْـَٔلُ He (can) be questioned yus'alu
He (can) be questioned
عَمَّا about what ʿammā
about what
يَفْعَلُ He does yafʿalu
He does
وَهُمْ but they wahum
but they
يُسْـَٔلُونَ will be questioned yus'alūna
will be questioned
٢٣ (23)
(23)
He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned.
٢١:٢٤
أَمِ Or ami
Or
ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ (have) they taken ittakhadhū
(have) they taken
مِن besides Him min
besides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ besides Him dūnihi
besides Him
ءَالِهَةًۭ ۖ gods ālihatan
gods
قُلْ Say qul
Say
هَاتُوا۟ Bring hātū
Bring
بُرْهَـٰنَكُمْ ۖ your proof bur'hānakum
your proof
هَـٰذَا This hādhā
This
ذِكْرُ (is) a Reminder dhik'ru
(is) a Reminder
مَن (for those) who man
(for those) who
مَّعِىَ (are) with me maʿiya
(are) with me
وَذِكْرُ and a Reminder wadhik'ru
and a Reminder
مَن (for those) who man
(for those) who
قَبْلِى ۗ (were) before me qablī
(were) before me
بَلْ But bal
But
أَكْثَرُهُمْ most of them aktharuhum
most of them
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ know yaʿlamūna
know
ٱلْحَقَّ ۖ the truth l-ḥaqa
the truth
فَهُم so they fahum
so they
مُّعْرِضُونَ (are) averse muʿ'riḍūna
(are) averse
٢٤ (24)
(24)
Or have they taken gods besides Him? Say, [O Muḥammad], "Produce your proof. This [Qur’ān] is the message for those with me and the message of those before me."1 But most of them do not know the truth, so they are turning away.
٢١:٢٥
وَمَآ And not wamā
And not
أَرْسَلْنَا We sent arsalnā
We sent
مِن before you min
before you
قَبْلِكَ before you qablika
before you
مِن any min
any
رَّسُولٍ Messenger rasūlin
Messenger
إِلَّا but illā
but
نُوحِىٓ We reveal(ed) nūḥī
We reveal(ed)
إِلَيْهِ to him ilayhi
to him
أَنَّهُۥ that [He] annahu
that [He]
لَآ (There is) no
(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَ god ilāha
god
إِلَّآ except illā
except
أَنَا۠ Me anā
Me
فَٱعْبُدُونِ so worship Me fa-uʿ'budūni
so worship Me
٢٥ (25)
(25)
And We sent not before you any messenger except We revealed to him that, "There is no deity except Me, so worship Me."
٢١:٢٦
وَقَالُوا۟ And they say waqālū
And they say
ٱتَّخَذَ Has taken ittakhadha
Has taken
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ the Most Gracious l-raḥmānu
the Most Gracious
وَلَدًۭا ۗ a son waladan
a son
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۚ Glorified is He sub'ḥānahu
Glorified is He
بَلْ Nay bal
Nay
عِبَادٌۭ (they are) slaves ʿibādun
(they are) slaves
مُّكْرَمُونَ honored muk'ramūna
honored
٢٦ (26)
(26)
And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken a son." Exalted is He! Rather, they are [but] honored servants.
٢١:٢٧
لَا Not
Not
يَسْبِقُونَهُۥ they (can) precede Him yasbiqūnahu
they (can) precede Him
بِٱلْقَوْلِ in word bil-qawli
in word
وَهُم and they wahum
and they
بِأَمْرِهِۦ by His command bi-amrihi
by His command
يَعْمَلُونَ act yaʿmalūna
act
٢٧ (27)
(27)
They cannot precede Him in word, and they act by His command.
٢١:٢٨
يَعْلَمُ He knows yaʿlamu
He knows
مَا what
what
بَيْنَ (is) before them bayna
(is) before them
أَيْدِيهِمْ (is) before them aydīhim
(is) before them
وَمَا and what wamā
and what
خَلْفَهُمْ (is) behind them khalfahum
(is) behind them
وَلَا and not walā
and not
يَشْفَعُونَ they (can) intercede yashfaʿūna
they (can) intercede
إِلَّا except illā
except
لِمَنِ for whom limani
for whom
ٱرْتَضَىٰ He approves ir'taḍā
He approves
وَهُم And they wahum
And they
مِّنْ from min
from
خَشْيَتِهِۦ fear of Him khashyatihi
fear of Him
مُشْفِقُونَ stand in awe mush'fiqūna
stand in awe
٢٨ (28)
(28)
He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they cannot intercede except on behalf of one whom He approves. And they, from fear of Him, are apprehensive.
٢١:٢٩
۞ وَمَن And whoever waman
And whoever
يَقُلْ says yaqul
says
مِنْهُمْ of them min'hum
of them
إِنِّىٓ Indeed, I am innī
Indeed, I am
إِلَـٰهٌۭ a god ilāhun
a god
مِّن besides Him min
besides Him
دُونِهِۦ besides Him dūnihi
besides Him
فَذَٰلِكَ Then that fadhālika
Then that
نَجْزِيهِ We will recompense najzīhi
We will recompense
جَهَنَّمَ ۚ (with) Hell jahannama
(with) Hell
كَذَٰلِكَ Thus kadhālika
Thus
نَجْزِى We recompense najzī
We recompense
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ the wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna
the wrongdoers
٢٩ (29)
(29)
And whoever of them should say, "Indeed, I am a god besides Him" - that one We would recompense with Hell. Thus do We recompense the wrongdoers.
٢١:٣٠
أَوَلَمْ Do not awalam
Do not
يَرَ see yara
see
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوٓا۟ disbelieved kafarū
disbelieved
أَنَّ that anna
that
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ and the earth wal-arḍa
and the earth
كَانَتَا were kānatā
were
رَتْقًۭا a joined entity ratqan
a joined entity
فَفَتَقْنَـٰهُمَا ۖ then We parted them fafataqnāhumā
then We parted them
وَجَعَلْنَا and We made wajaʿalnā
and We made
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلْمَآءِ [the] water l-māi
[the] water
كُلَّ every kulla
every
شَىْءٍ living thing shayin
living thing
حَىٍّ ۖ living thing ḥayyin
living thing
أَفَلَا Then will not afalā
Then will not
يُؤْمِنُونَ they believe yu'minūna
they believe
٣٠ (30)
(30)
Have those who disbelieved not considered that the heavens and the earth were a joined entity, and then We separated them and made from water every living thing? Then will they not believe?
٢١:٣١
وَجَعَلْنَا And We (have) placed wajaʿalnā
And We (have) placed
فِى in
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
رَوَٰسِىَ firmly set mountains rawāsiya
firmly set mountains
أَن lest an
lest
تَمِيدَ it (should) shake tamīda
it (should) shake
بِهِمْ with them bihim
with them
وَجَعَلْنَا and We made wajaʿalnā
and We made
فِيهَا therein fīhā
therein
فِجَاجًۭا broad passes fijājan
broad passes
سُبُلًۭا (as) ways subulan
(as) ways
لَّعَلَّهُمْ so that they may laʿallahum
so that they may
يَهْتَدُونَ (be) guided yahtadūna
(be) guided
٣١ (31)
(31)
And We placed within the earth firmly set mountains, lest it should shift with them, and We made therein [mountain] passes [as] roads that they might be guided.
٢١:٣٢
وَجَعَلْنَا And We made wajaʿalnā
And We made
ٱلسَّمَآءَ the sky l-samāa
the sky
سَقْفًۭا a roof saqfan
a roof
مَّحْفُوظًۭا ۖ protected maḥfūẓan
protected
وَهُمْ But they wahum
But they
عَنْ from ʿan
from
ءَايَـٰتِهَا its Signs āyātihā
its Signs
مُعْرِضُونَ turn away muʿ'riḍūna
turn away
٣٢ (32)
(32)
And We made the sky a protected ceiling, but they, from its signs, are turning away.
٢١:٣٣
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa
And He
ٱلَّذِى (is) the One Who alladhī
(is) the One Who
خَلَقَ created khalaqa
created
ٱلَّيْلَ the night al-layla
the night
وَٱلنَّهَارَ and the day wal-nahāra
and the day
وَٱلشَّمْسَ and the sun wal-shamsa
and the sun
وَٱلْقَمَرَ ۖ and the moon wal-qamara
and the moon
كُلٌّۭ each kullun
each
فِى in
in
فَلَكٍۢ an orbit falakin
an orbit
يَسْبَحُونَ floating yasbaḥūna
floating
٣٣ (33)
(33)
And it is He who created the night and the day and the sun and the moon; all [heavenly bodies] in an orbit are swimming.
٢١:٣٤
وَمَا And not wamā
And not
جَعَلْنَا We made jaʿalnā
We made
لِبَشَرٍۢ for any man libasharin
for any man
مِّن before you min
before you
قَبْلِكَ before you qablika
before you
ٱلْخُلْدَ ۖ [the] immortality l-khul'da
[the] immortality
أَفَإِي۟ن so if afa-in
so if
مِّتَّ you die mitta
you die
فَهُمُ then (would) they fahumu
then (would) they
ٱلْخَـٰلِدُونَ live forever l-khālidūna
live forever
٣٤ (34)
(34)
And We did not grant to any man before you eternity [on earth]; so if you die - would they be eternal?
٢١:٣٥
كُلُّ Every kullu
Every
نَفْسٍۢ soul nafsin
soul
ذَآئِقَةُ (will) taste dhāiqatu
(will) taste
ٱلْمَوْتِ ۗ [the] death l-mawti
[the] death
وَنَبْلُوكُم And We test you wanablūkum
And We test you
بِٱلشَّرِّ with [the] bad bil-shari
with [the] bad
وَٱلْخَيْرِ and [the] good wal-khayri
and [the] good
فِتْنَةًۭ ۖ (as) a trial fit'natan
(as) a trial
وَإِلَيْنَا and to Us wa-ilaynā
and to Us
تُرْجَعُونَ you will be returned tur'jaʿūna
you will be returned
٣٥ (35)
(35)
Every soul will taste death. And We test you with evil and with good as trial; and to Us you will be returned.
٢١:٣٦
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
رَءَاكَ they see you raāka
they see you
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوٓا۟ disbelieve kafarū
disbelieve
إِن not in
not
يَتَّخِذُونَكَ they take you yattakhidhūnaka
they take you
إِلَّا except illā
except
هُزُوًا (in) ridicule huzuwan
(in) ridicule
أَهَـٰذَا Is this ahādhā
Is this
ٱلَّذِى the one who alladhī
the one who
يَذْكُرُ mentions yadhkuru
mentions
ءَالِهَتَكُمْ your gods ālihatakum
your gods
وَهُم And they wahum
And they
بِذِكْرِ at (the) mention bidhik'ri
at (the) mention
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ (of) the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni
(of) the Most Gracious
هُمْ [they] hum
[they]
كَـٰفِرُونَ (are) disbelievers kāfirūna
(are) disbelievers
٣٦ (36)
(36)
And when those who disbelieve see you, [O Muḥammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one who mentions [i.e., insults] your gods?" And they are, at the mention of the Most Merciful, disbelievers.
٢١:٣٧
خُلِقَ Is created khuliqa
Is created
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنُ the man l-insānu
the man
مِنْ of min
of
عَجَلٍۢ ۚ haste ʿajalin
haste
سَأُو۟رِيكُمْ I will show you sa-urīkum
I will show you
ءَايَـٰتِى My Signs āyātī
My Signs
فَلَا so (do) not falā
so (do) not
تَسْتَعْجِلُونِ ask Me to hasten tastaʿjilūni
ask Me to hasten
٣٧ (37)
(37)
Man was created of haste [i.e., impatience]. I will show you My signs [i.e., vengeance], so do not impatiently urge Me.
٢١:٣٨
وَيَقُولُونَ And they say wayaqūlūna
And they say
مَتَىٰ When (will be fulfilled) matā
When (will be fulfilled)
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
ٱلْوَعْدُ promise l-waʿdu
promise
إِن if in
if
كُنتُمْ you are kuntum
you are
صَـٰدِقِينَ truthful ṣādiqīna
truthful
٣٨ (38)
(38)
And they say, "When is this promise, if you should be truthful?"
٢١:٣٩
لَوْ If law
If
يَعْلَمُ knew yaʿlamu
knew
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieved kafarū
disbelieved
حِينَ (the) time ḥīna
(the) time
لَا (when) not
(when) not
يَكُفُّونَ they will avert yakuffūna
they will avert
عَن from ʿan
from
وُجُوهِهِمُ their faces wujūhihimu
their faces
ٱلنَّارَ the Fire l-nāra
the Fire
وَلَا and not walā
and not
عَن from ʿan
from
ظُهُورِهِمْ their backs ẓuhūrihim
their backs
وَلَا and not walā
and not
هُمْ they hum
they
يُنصَرُونَ will be helped yunṣarūna
will be helped
٣٩ (39)
(39)
If those who disbelieved but knew the time when they will not avert the Fire from their faces or from their backs and they will not be aided...
٢١:٤٠
بَلْ Nay bal
Nay
تَأْتِيهِم it will come to them tatīhim
it will come to them
بَغْتَةًۭ unexpectedly baghtatan
unexpectedly
فَتَبْهَتُهُمْ and bewilder them fatabhatuhum
and bewilder them
فَلَا then not falā
then not
يَسْتَطِيعُونَ they will be able yastaṭīʿūna
they will be able
رَدَّهَا to repel it raddahā
to repel it
وَلَا and not walā
and not
هُمْ they hum
they
يُنظَرُونَ will be given respite yunẓarūna
will be given respite
٤٠ (40)
(40)
Rather, it will come to them unexpectedly and bewilder them, and they will not be able to repel it, nor will they be reprieved.
٢١:٤١
وَلَقَدِ And verily walaqadi
And verily
ٱسْتُهْزِئَ were mocked us'tuh'zi-a
were mocked
بِرُسُلٍۢ Messengers birusulin
Messengers
مِّن before you min
before you
قَبْلِكَ before you qablika
before you
فَحَاقَ then surrounded faḥāqa
then surrounded
بِٱلَّذِينَ those who bi-alladhīna
those who
سَخِرُوا۟ mocked sakhirū
mocked
مِنْهُم from them min'hum
from them
مَّا what
what
كَانُوا۟ they used kānū
they used
بِهِۦ at it bihi
at it
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ (to) mock yastahziūna
(to) mock
٤١ (41)
(41)
And already were messengers ridiculed before you, but those who mocked them were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
٢١:٤٢
قُلْ Say qul
Say
مَن Who man
Who
يَكْلَؤُكُم (can) protect you yakla-ukum
(can) protect you
بِٱلَّيْلِ in the night bi-al-layli
in the night
وَٱلنَّهَارِ and the day wal-nahāri
and the day
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۗ the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
بَلْ Yet bal
Yet
هُمْ they hum
they
عَن from ʿan
from
ذِكْرِ (the) remembrance dhik'ri
(the) remembrance
رَبِّهِم (of) their Lord rabbihim
(of) their Lord
مُّعْرِضُونَ turn away muʿ'riḍūna
turn away
٤٢ (42)
(42)
Say, "Who can protect you at night or by day from the Most Merciful?" But they are, from the remembrance of their Lord, turning away.
٢١:٤٣
أَمْ Or am
Or
لَهُمْ have they lahum
have they
ءَالِهَةٌۭ gods ālihatun
gods
تَمْنَعُهُم (to) defend them tamnaʿuhum
(to) defend them
مِّن from min
from
دُونِنَا ۚ Us dūninā
Us
لَا Not
Not
يَسْتَطِيعُونَ they are able yastaṭīʿūna
they are able
نَصْرَ (to) help naṣra
(to) help
أَنفُسِهِمْ themselves anfusihim
themselves
وَلَا and not walā
and not
هُم they hum
they
مِّنَّا from Us minnā
from Us
يُصْحَبُونَ can be protected yuṣ'ḥabūna
can be protected
٤٣ (43)
(43)
Or do they have gods to defend them other than Us? They are unable [even] to help themselves, nor can they be protected from Us.
٢١:٤٤
بَلْ Nay bal
Nay
مَتَّعْنَا We gave provision mattaʿnā
We gave provision
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ (to) these hāulāi
(to) these
وَءَابَآءَهُمْ and their fathers waābāahum
and their fathers
حَتَّىٰ until ḥattā
until
طَالَ grew long ṭāla
grew long
عَلَيْهِمُ for them ʿalayhimu
for them
ٱلْعُمُرُ ۗ the life l-ʿumuru
the life
أَفَلَا Then do not afalā
Then do not
يَرَوْنَ they see yarawna
they see
أَنَّا that We annā
that We
نَأْتِى We come natī
We come
ٱلْأَرْضَ (to) the land l-arḍa
(to) the land
نَنقُصُهَا We reduce it nanquṣuhā
We reduce it
مِنْ from min
from
أَطْرَافِهَآ ۚ its borders aṭrāfihā
its borders
أَفَهُمُ So is (it) they afahumu
So is (it) they
ٱلْغَـٰلِبُونَ (who will be) overcoming l-ghālibūna
(who will be) overcoming
٤٤ (44)
(44)
But, [on the contrary], We have provided good things for these [disbelievers] and their fathers until life was prolonged for them. Then do they not see that We set upon the land, reducing it from its borders? Is it they who will overcome?
٢١:٤٥
قُلْ Say qul
Say
إِنَّمَآ Only innamā
Only
أُنذِرُكُم I warn you undhirukum
I warn you
بِٱلْوَحْىِ ۚ by the revelation bil-waḥyi
by the revelation
وَلَا But not walā
But not
يَسْمَعُ hear yasmaʿu
hear
ٱلصُّمُّ the deaf l-ṣumu
the deaf
ٱلدُّعَآءَ the call l-duʿāa
the call
إِذَا when idhā
when
مَا when
when
يُنذَرُونَ they are warned yundharūna
they are warned
٤٥ (45)
(45)
Say, "I only warn you by revelation." But the deaf do not hear the call when they are warned.
٢١:٤٦
وَلَئِن And if wala-in
And if
مَّسَّتْهُمْ touches them massathum
touches them
نَفْحَةٌۭ a whiff nafḥatun
a whiff
مِّنْ of min
of
عَذَابِ (the) punishment ʿadhābi
(the) punishment
رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord rabbika
(of) your Lord
لَيَقُولُنَّ surely they will say layaqūlunna
surely they will say
يَـٰوَيْلَنَآ O woe to us yāwaylanā
O woe to us
إِنَّا Indeed, we innā
Indeed, we
كُنَّا [we] were kunnā
[we] were
ظَـٰلِمِينَ wrongdoers ẓālimīna
wrongdoers
٤٦ (46)
(46)
And if [as much as] a whiff of the punishment of your Lord should touch them, they would surely say, "O woe to us! Indeed, we have been wrongdoers."
٢١:٤٧
وَنَضَعُ And We set wanaḍaʿu
And We set
ٱلْمَوَٰزِينَ the scales l-mawāzīna
the scales
ٱلْقِسْطَ (of) the justice l-qis'ṭa
(of) the justice
لِيَوْمِ for (the) Day liyawmi
for (the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
فَلَا so not falā
so not
تُظْلَمُ will be wronged tuẓ'lamu
will be wronged
نَفْسٌۭ any soul nafsun
any soul
شَيْـًۭٔا ۖ (in) anything shayan
(in) anything
وَإِن And if wa-in
And if
كَانَ (there) be kāna
(there) be
مِثْقَالَ weight mith'qāla
weight
حَبَّةٍۢ (of) a seed ḥabbatin
(of) a seed
مِّنْ of min
of
خَرْدَلٍ a mustard khardalin
a mustard
أَتَيْنَا We will bring ataynā
We will bring
بِهَا ۗ [with] it bihā
[with] it
وَكَفَىٰ And sufficient wakafā
And sufficient
بِنَا (are) We binā
(are) We
حَـٰسِبِينَ (as) Reckoners ḥāsibīna
(as) Reckoners
٤٧ (47)
(47)
And We place the scales of justice for the Day of Resurrection, so no soul will be treated unjustly at all. And if there is [even] the weight of a mustard seed, We will bring it forth. And sufficient are We as accountant.
٢١:٤٨
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad
And verily
ءَاتَيْنَا We gave ātaynā
We gave
مُوسَىٰ Musa mūsā
Musa
وَهَـٰرُونَ and Harun wahārūna
and Harun
ٱلْفُرْقَانَ the Criterion l-fur'qāna
the Criterion
وَضِيَآءًۭ and a light waḍiyāan
and a light
وَذِكْرًۭا and a Reminder wadhik'ran
and a Reminder
لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ for the righteous lil'muttaqīna
for the righteous
٤٨ (48)
(48)
And We had already given Moses and Aaron the criterion and a light and a reminder for the righteous
٢١:٤٩
ٱلَّذِينَ Those who alladhīna
Those who
يَخْشَوْنَ fear yakhshawna
fear
رَبَّهُم their Lord rabbahum
their Lord
بِٱلْغَيْبِ in the unseen bil-ghaybi
in the unseen
وَهُم and they wahum
and they
مِّنَ of mina
of
ٱلسَّاعَةِ the Hour l-sāʿati
the Hour
مُشْفِقُونَ (are) afraid mush'fiqūna
(are) afraid
٤٩ (49)
(49)
Who fear their Lord unseen, while they are of the Hour apprehensive.
٢١:٥٠
وَهَـٰذَا And this wahādhā
And this
ذِكْرٌۭ (is) a Reminder dhik'run
(is) a Reminder
مُّبَارَكٌ blessed mubārakun
blessed
أَنزَلْنَـٰهُ ۚ which We (have) revealed anzalnāhu
which We (have) revealed
أَفَأَنتُمْ Then are you afa-antum
Then are you
لَهُۥ of it lahu
of it
مُنكِرُونَ rejecters munkirūna
rejecters
٥٠ (50)
(50)
And this [Qur’ān] is a blessed message which We have sent down. Then are you with it unacquainted?
٢١:٥١
۞ وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad
And verily
ءَاتَيْنَآ We gave ātaynā
We gave
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ Ibrahim ib'rāhīma
Ibrahim
رُشْدَهُۥ his guidance rush'dahu
his guidance
مِن before min
before
قَبْلُ before qablu
before
وَكُنَّا and We were wakunnā
and We were
بِهِۦ about him bihi
about him
عَـٰلِمِينَ Well-Knowing ʿālimīna
Well-Knowing
٥١ (51)
(51)
And We had certainly given Abraham his sound judgement before, and We were of him well-Knowing
٢١:٥٢
إِذْ When idh
When
قَالَ he said qāla
he said
لِأَبِيهِ to his father li-abīhi
to his father
وَقَوْمِهِۦ and his people waqawmihi
and his people
مَا What
What
هَـٰذِهِ (are) these hādhihi
(are) these
ٱلتَّمَاثِيلُ [the] statues l-tamāthīlu
[the] statues
ٱلَّتِىٓ which allatī
which
أَنتُمْ you antum
you
لَهَا to it lahā
to it
عَـٰكِفُونَ (are) devoted ʿākifūna
(are) devoted
٥٢ (52)
(52)
When he said to his father and his people, "What are these statues to which you are devoted?"
٢١:٥٣
قَالُوا۟ They said qālū
They said
وَجَدْنَآ We found wajadnā
We found
ءَابَآءَنَا our forefathers ābāanā
our forefathers
لَهَا of them lahā
of them
عَـٰبِدِينَ worshippers ʿābidīna
worshippers
٥٣ (53)
(53)
They said, "We found our fathers worshippers of them."
٢١:٥٤
قَالَ He said qāla
He said
لَقَدْ Verily laqad
Verily
كُنتُمْ you are kuntum
you are
أَنتُمْ [you] antum
[you]
وَءَابَآؤُكُمْ and your forefathers waābāukum
and your forefathers
فِى (were) in
(were) in
ضَلَـٰلٍۢ an error ḍalālin
an error
مُّبِينٍۢ manifest mubīnin
manifest
٥٤ (54)
(54)
He said, "You were certainly, you and your fathers, in manifest error."
٢١:٥٥
قَالُوٓا۟ They said qālū
They said
أَجِئْتَنَا Have you come to us aji'tanā
Have you come to us
بِٱلْحَقِّ with the truth bil-ḥaqi
with the truth
أَمْ or am
or
أَنتَ you anta
you
مِنَ (are) of mina
(are) of
ٱللَّـٰعِبِينَ those who play l-lāʿibīna
those who play
٥٥ (55)
(55)
They said, "Have you come to us with truth, or are you of those who jest?"
٢١:٥٦
قَالَ He said qāla
He said
بَل Nay bal
Nay
رَّبُّكُمْ your Lord rabbukum
your Lord
رَبُّ (is the) Lord rabbu
(is the) Lord
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
ٱلَّذِى the One Who alladhī
the One Who
فَطَرَهُنَّ created them faṭarahunna
created them
وَأَنَا۠ and I am wa-anā
and I am
عَلَىٰ to ʿalā
to
ذَٰلِكُم that dhālikum
that
مِّنَ of mina
of
ٱلشَّـٰهِدِينَ the witnesses l-shāhidīna
the witnesses
٥٦ (56)
(56)
He said, "[No], rather, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth who created them, and I, to that, am of those who testify.
٢١:٥٧
وَتَٱللَّهِ And by Allah watal-lahi
And by Allah
لَأَكِيدَنَّ surely, I will plan la-akīdanna
surely, I will plan
أَصْنَـٰمَكُم (against) your idols aṣnāmakum
(against) your idols
بَعْدَ after baʿda
after
أَن [that] an
[that]
تُوَلُّوا۟ you go away tuwallū
you go away
مُدْبِرِينَ turning (your) backs mud'birīna
turning (your) backs
٥٧ (57)
(57)
And [I swear] by Allāh, I will surely plan against your idols after you have turned and gone away."
٢١:٥٨
فَجَعَلَهُمْ So he made them fajaʿalahum
So he made them
جُذَٰذًا (into) pieces judhādhan
(into) pieces
إِلَّا except illā
except
كَبِيرًۭا a large (one) kabīran
a large (one)
لَّهُمْ of them lahum
of them
لَعَلَّهُمْ so that they may laʿallahum
so that they may
إِلَيْهِ to it ilayhi
to it
يَرْجِعُونَ return yarjiʿūna
return
٥٨ (58)
(58)
So he made them into fragments, except a large one among them, that they might return to it [and question].
٢١:٥٩
قَالُوا۟ They said qālū
They said
مَن Who man
Who
فَعَلَ (has) done faʿala
(has) done
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
بِـَٔالِهَتِنَآ to our gods biālihatinā
to our gods
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he innahu
Indeed, he
لَمِنَ (is) of lamina
(is) of
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ the wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna
the wrongdoers
٥٩ (59)
(59)
They said, "Who has done this to our gods? Indeed, he is of the wrongdoers."
٢١:٦٠
قَالُوا۟ They said qālū
They said
سَمِعْنَا We heard samiʿ'nā
We heard
فَتًۭى a youth fatan
a youth
يَذْكُرُهُمْ mention them yadhkuruhum
mention them
يُقَالُ he is called yuqālu
he is called
لَهُۥٓ he is called lahu
he is called
إِبْرَٰهِيمُ Ibrahim ib'rāhīmu
Ibrahim
٦٠ (60)
(60)
They said, "We heard a young man mention them who is called Abraham."
٢١:٦١
قَالُوا۟ They said qālū
They said
فَأْتُوا۟ Then bring fatū
Then bring
بِهِۦ him bihi
him
عَلَىٰٓ before ʿalā
before
أَعْيُنِ (the) eyes aʿyuni
(the) eyes
ٱلنَّاسِ (of) the people l-nāsi
(of) the people
لَعَلَّهُمْ so that they may laʿallahum
so that they may
يَشْهَدُونَ bear witness yashhadūna
bear witness
٦١ (61)
(61)
They said, "Then bring him before the eyes of the people that they may testify."1
٢١:٦٢
قَالُوٓا۟ They said qālū
They said
ءَأَنتَ Have you a-anta
Have you
فَعَلْتَ done faʿalta
done
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
بِـَٔالِهَتِنَا to our gods biālihatinā
to our gods
يَـٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ O Ibrahim yāib'rāhīmu
O Ibrahim
٦٢ (62)
(62)
They said, "Have you done this to our gods, O Abraham?"
٢١:٦٣
قَالَ He said qāla
He said
بَلْ Nay bal
Nay
فَعَلَهُۥ (some doer) did it faʿalahu
(some doer) did it
كَبِيرُهُمْ Their chief kabīruhum
Their chief
هَـٰذَا (is) this hādhā
(is) this
فَسْـَٔلُوهُمْ So ask them fasalūhum
So ask them
إِن if in
if
كَانُوا۟ they (can) kānū
they (can)
يَنطِقُونَ speak yanṭiqūna
speak
٦٣ (63)
(63)
He said, "Rather, this - the largest of them - did it, so ask them, if they should [be able to] speak."
٢١:٦٤
فَرَجَعُوٓا۟ So they returned farajaʿū
So they returned
إِلَىٰٓ to ilā
to
أَنفُسِهِمْ themselves anfusihim
themselves
فَقَالُوٓا۟ and said faqālū
and said
إِنَّكُمْ Indeed, you innakum
Indeed, you
أَنتُمُ [you] antumu
[you]
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ (are) the wrongdoers l-ẓālimūna
(are) the wrongdoers
٦٤ (64)
(64)
So they returned to [blaming] themselves and said [to each other], "Indeed, you are the wrongdoers."
٢١:٦٥
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
نُكِسُوا۟ they were turned nukisū
they were turned
عَلَىٰ on ʿalā
on
رُءُوسِهِمْ their heads ruūsihim
their heads
لَقَدْ Verily laqad
Verily
عَلِمْتَ you know ʿalim'ta
you know
مَا not
not
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ these hāulāi
these
يَنطِقُونَ (can) speak yanṭiqūna
(can) speak
٦٥ (65)
(65)
Then they reversed themselves, [saying], "You have already known that these do not speak!"
٢١:٦٦
قَالَ He said qāla
He said
أَفَتَعْبُدُونَ Then do you worship afataʿbudūna
Then do you worship
مِن besides min
besides
دُونِ besides dūni
besides
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
مَا what
what
لَا (does) not
(does) not
يَنفَعُكُمْ benefit you yanfaʿukum
benefit you
شَيْـًۭٔا (in) anything shayan
(in) anything
وَلَا and not walā
and not
يَضُرُّكُمْ harms you yaḍurrukum
harms you
٦٦ (66)
(66)
He said, "Then do you worship instead of Allāh that which does not benefit you at all or harm you?
٢١:٦٧
أُفٍّۢ Uff uffin
Uff
لَّكُمْ to you lakum
to you
وَلِمَا and to what walimā
and to what
تَعْبُدُونَ you worship taʿbudūna
you worship
مِن besides min
besides
دُونِ besides dūni
besides
ٱللَّهِ ۖ Allah l-lahi
Allah
أَفَلَا Then will not afalā
Then will not
تَعْقِلُونَ you use reason taʿqilūna
you use reason
٦٧ (67)
(67)
Uff to you and to what you worship instead of Allāh. Then will you not use reason?"
٢١:٦٨
قَالُوا۟ They said qālū
They said
حَرِّقُوهُ Burn him ḥarriqūhu
Burn him
وَٱنصُرُوٓا۟ and support wa-unṣurū
and support
ءَالِهَتَكُمْ your gods ālihatakum
your gods
إِن if in
if
كُنتُمْ you are kuntum
you are
فَـٰعِلِينَ doers fāʿilīna
doers
٦٨ (68)
(68)
They said, "Burn him and support your gods - if you are to act."
٢١:٦٩
قُلْنَا We said qul'nā
We said
يَـٰنَارُ O fire yānāru
O fire
كُونِى Be kūnī
Be
بَرْدًۭا cool[ness] bardan
cool[ness]
وَسَلَـٰمًا and safe[ty] wasalāman
and safe[ty]
عَلَىٰٓ for ʿalā
for
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ Ibrahim ib'rāhīma
Ibrahim
٦٩ (69)
(69)
We [i.e., Allāh] said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham."
٢١:٧٠
وَأَرَادُوا۟ And they intended wa-arādū
And they intended
بِهِۦ for him bihi
for him
كَيْدًۭا a plan kaydan
a plan
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمُ but We made them fajaʿalnāhumu
but We made them
ٱلْأَخْسَرِينَ the greatest losers l-akhsarīna
the greatest losers
٧٠ (70)
(70)
And they intended for him a plan [i.e., harm], but We made them the greatest losers.
٢١:٧١
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ And We delivered him wanajjaynāhu
And We delivered him
وَلُوطًا and Lut walūṭan
and Lut
إِلَى to ilā
to
ٱلْأَرْضِ the land l-arḍi
the land
ٱلَّتِى which allatī
which
بَـٰرَكْنَا We (had) blessed bāraknā
We (had) blessed
فِيهَا [in it] fīhā
[in it]
لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَ for the worlds lil'ʿālamīna
for the worlds
٧١ (71)
(71)
And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds [i.e., peoples].
٢١:٧٢
وَوَهَبْنَا And We bestowed wawahabnā
And We bestowed
لَهُۥٓ on him lahu
on him
إِسْحَـٰقَ Isaac is'ḥāqa
Isaac
وَيَعْقُوبَ and Yaqub wayaʿqūba
and Yaqub
نَافِلَةًۭ ۖ (in) addition nāfilatan
(in) addition
وَكُلًّۭا and all wakullan
and all
جَعَلْنَا We made jaʿalnā
We made
صَـٰلِحِينَ righteous ṣāliḥīna
righteous
٧٢ (72)
(72)
And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous.
٢١:٧٣
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ And We made them wajaʿalnāhum
And We made them
أَئِمَّةًۭ leaders a-immatan
leaders
يَهْدُونَ they guide yahdūna
they guide
بِأَمْرِنَا by Our Command bi-amrinā
by Our Command
وَأَوْحَيْنَآ And We inspired wa-awḥaynā
And We inspired
إِلَيْهِمْ to them ilayhim
to them
فِعْلَ (the) doing fiʿ'la
(the) doing
ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ (of) good deeds l-khayrāti
(of) good deeds
وَإِقَامَ and establishment wa-iqāma
and establishment
ٱلصَّلَوٰةِ (of) the prayer l-ṣalati
(of) the prayer
وَإِيتَآءَ and giving waītāa
and giving
ٱلزَّكَوٰةِ ۖ (of) zakah l-zakati
(of) zakah
وَكَانُوا۟ and they were wakānū
and they were
لَنَا of Us lanā
of Us
عَـٰبِدِينَ worshippers ʿābidīna
worshippers
٧٣ (73)
(73)
And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakāh; and they were worshippers of Us.
٢١:٧٤
وَلُوطًا And (to) Lut walūṭan
And (to) Lut
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ We gave him ātaynāhu
We gave him
حُكْمًۭا judgment ḥuk'man
judgment
وَعِلْمًۭا and knowledge waʿil'man
and knowledge
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ and We saved him wanajjaynāhu
and We saved him
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلْقَرْيَةِ the town l-qaryati
the town
ٱلَّتِى which allatī
which
كَانَت was kānat
was
تَّعْمَلُ doing taʿmalu
doing
ٱلْخَبَـٰٓئِثَ ۗ wicked deeds l-khabāitha
wicked deeds
إِنَّهُمْ Indeed, they innahum
Indeed, they
كَانُوا۟ were kānū
were
قَوْمَ a people qawma
a people
سَوْءٍۢ evil sawin
evil
فَـٰسِقِينَ defiantly disobedient fāsiqīna
defiantly disobedient
٧٤ (74)
(74)
And to Lot We gave judgement and knowledge, and We saved him from the city that was committing wicked deeds. Indeed, they were a people of evil, defiantly disobedient.
٢١:٧٥
وَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُ And We admitted him wa-adkhalnāhu
And We admitted him
فِى into
into
رَحْمَتِنَآ ۖ Our Mercy raḥmatinā
Our Mercy
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, he innahu
Indeed, he
مِنَ (was) of mina
(was) of
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ the righteous l-ṣāliḥīna
the righteous
٧٥ (75)
(75)
And We admitted him into Our mercy. Indeed, he was of the righteous.
٢١:٧٦
وَنُوحًا And Nuh wanūḥan
And Nuh
إِذْ when idh
when
نَادَىٰ he called nādā
he called
مِن before min
before
قَبْلُ before qablu
before
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا so We responded fa-is'tajabnā
so We responded
لَهُۥ to him lahu
to him
فَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ and We saved him fanajjaynāhu
and We saved him
وَأَهْلَهُۥ and his family wa-ahlahu
and his family
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلْكَرْبِ the affliction l-karbi
the affliction
ٱلْعَظِيمِ [the] great l-ʿaẓīmi
[the] great
٧٦ (76)
(76)
And [mention] Noah, when he called [to Allāh]1 before [that time], so We responded to him and saved him and his family from the great affliction [i.e., the flood].
٢١:٧٧
وَنَصَرْنَـٰهُ And We helped him wanaṣarnāhu
And We helped him
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلْقَوْمِ the people l-qawmi
the people
ٱلَّذِينَ who alladhīna
who
كَذَّبُوا۟ denied kadhabū
denied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَآ ۚ Our Signs biāyātinā
Our Signs
إِنَّهُمْ Indeed, they innahum
Indeed, they
كَانُوا۟ were kānū
were
قَوْمَ a people qawma
a people
سَوْءٍۢ evil sawin
evil
فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْ so We drowned them fa-aghraqnāhum
so We drowned them
أَجْمَعِينَ all ajmaʿīna
all
٧٧ (77)
(77)
And We aided [i.e., saved] him from the people who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a people of evil, so We drowned them, all together.
٢١:٧٨
وَدَاوُۥدَ And Dawud wadāwūda
And Dawud
وَسُلَيْمَـٰنَ and Sulaiman wasulaymāna
and Sulaiman
إِذْ when idh
when
يَحْكُمَانِ they judged yaḥkumāni
they judged
فِى concerning
concerning
ٱلْحَرْثِ the field l-ḥarthi
the field
إِذْ when idh
when
نَفَشَتْ pastured nafashat
pastured
فِيهِ in it fīhi
in it
غَنَمُ sheep ghanamu
sheep
ٱلْقَوْمِ (of) a people l-qawmi
(of) a people
وَكُنَّا and We were wakunnā
and We were
لِحُكْمِهِمْ to their judgment liḥuk'mihim
to their judgment
شَـٰهِدِينَ witness shāhidīna
witness
٧٨ (78)
(78)
And [mention] David and Solomon, when they judged concerning the field - when the sheep of a people overran it [at night], and We were witness to their judgement.
٢١:٧٩
فَفَهَّمْنَـٰهَا And We gave understanding of it fafahhamnāhā
And We gave understanding of it
سُلَيْمَـٰنَ ۚ (to) Sulaiman sulaymāna
(to) Sulaiman
وَكُلًّا and (to) each wakullan
and (to) each
ءَاتَيْنَا We gave ātaynā
We gave
حُكْمًۭا judgment ḥuk'man
judgment
وَعِلْمًۭا ۚ and knowledge waʿil'man
and knowledge
وَسَخَّرْنَا And We subjected wasakharnā
And We subjected
مَعَ with maʿa
with
دَاوُۥدَ Dawud dāwūda
Dawud
ٱلْجِبَالَ the mountains l-jibāla
the mountains
يُسَبِّحْنَ (to) glorify Our praises yusabbiḥ'na
(to) glorify Our praises
وَٱلطَّيْرَ ۚ and the birds wal-ṭayra
and the birds
وَكُنَّا And We were wakunnā
And We were
فَـٰعِلِينَ the Doers fāʿilīna
the Doers
٧٩ (79)
(79)
And We gave understanding of it [i.e., the case] to Solomon, and to each [of them] We gave judgement and knowledge. And We subjected the mountains to exalt [Us], along with David and [also] the birds. And We were doing [that].
٢١:٨٠
وَعَلَّمْنَـٰهُ And We taught him waʿallamnāhu
And We taught him
صَنْعَةَ (the) making ṣanʿata
(the) making
لَبُوسٍۢ (of) coats of armor labūsin
(of) coats of armor
لَّكُمْ for you lakum
for you
لِتُحْصِنَكُم to protect you lituḥ'ṣinakum
to protect you
مِّنۢ from min
from
بَأْسِكُمْ ۖ your battle basikum
your battle
فَهَلْ Then will fahal
Then will
أَنتُمْ you antum
you
شَـٰكِرُونَ (be) grateful shākirūna
(be) grateful
٨٠ (80)
(80)
And We taught him the fashioning of coats of armor to protect you from your [enemy in] battle. So will you then be grateful?
٢١:٨١
وَلِسُلَيْمَـٰنَ And to Sulaiman walisulaymāna
And to Sulaiman
ٱلرِّيحَ the wind l-rīḥa
the wind
عَاصِفَةًۭ forcefully ʿāṣifatan
forcefully
تَجْرِى blowing tajrī
blowing
بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ by his command bi-amrihi
by his command
إِلَى to ilā
to
ٱلْأَرْضِ the land l-arḍi
the land
ٱلَّتِى which allatī
which
بَـٰرَكْنَا We blessed bāraknā
We blessed
فِيهَا ۚ [in it] fīhā
[in it]
وَكُنَّا And We are wakunnā
And We are
بِكُلِّ of every bikulli
of every
شَىْءٍ thing shayin
thing
عَـٰلِمِينَ Knowers ʿālimīna
Knowers
٨١ (81)
(81)
And to Solomon [We subjected] the wind, blowing forcefully, proceeding by his command toward the land which We had blessed. And We are ever, of all things, Knowing.
٢١:٨٢
وَمِنَ And of wamina
And of
ٱلشَّيَـٰطِينِ the devils l-shayāṭīni
the devils
مَن (were some) who man
(were some) who
يَغُوصُونَ would dive yaghūṣūna
would dive
لَهُۥ for him lahu
for him
وَيَعْمَلُونَ and would do wayaʿmalūna
and would do
عَمَلًۭا work ʿamalan
work
دُونَ other than dūna
other than
ذَٰلِكَ ۖ that dhālika
that
وَكُنَّا And We were wakunnā
And We were
لَهُمْ of them lahum
of them
حَـٰفِظِينَ Guardians ḥāfiẓīna
Guardians
٨٢ (82)
(82)
And of the devils [i.e., jinn] were those who dived for him and did work other than that. And We were of them a guardian.
٢١:٨٣
۞ وَأَيُّوبَ And Ayub wa-ayyūba
And Ayub
إِذْ when idh
when
نَادَىٰ he called nādā
he called
رَبَّهُۥٓ (to) his Lord rabbahu
(to) his Lord
أَنِّى Indeed, [I] annī
Indeed, [I]
مَسَّنِىَ has touched me massaniya
has touched me
ٱلضُّرُّ the adversity l-ḍuru
the adversity
وَأَنتَ and You wa-anta
and You
أَرْحَمُ (are) Most Merciful arḥamu
(are) Most Merciful
ٱلرَّٰحِمِينَ (of) the Merciful l-rāḥimīna
(of) the Merciful
٨٣ (83)
(83)
And [mention] Job, when he called to his Lord, "Indeed, adversity has touched me, and You are the most merciful of the merciful."
٢١:٨٤
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا So We responded fa-is'tajabnā
So We responded
لَهُۥ to him lahu
to him
فَكَشَفْنَا and We removed fakashafnā
and We removed
مَا what
what
بِهِۦ (was) on him bihi
(was) on him
مِن of min
of
ضُرٍّۢ ۖ (the) adversity ḍurrin
(the) adversity
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ And We gave him waātaynāhu
And We gave him
أَهْلَهُۥ his family ahlahu
his family
وَمِثْلَهُم and (the) like thereof wamith'lahum
and (the) like thereof
مَّعَهُمْ with them maʿahum
with them
رَحْمَةًۭ (as) Mercy raḥmatan
(as) Mercy
مِّنْ from Ourselves min
from Ourselves
عِندِنَا from Ourselves ʿindinā
from Ourselves
وَذِكْرَىٰ and a reminder wadhik'rā
and a reminder
لِلْعَـٰبِدِينَ for the worshippers lil'ʿābidīna
for the worshippers
٨٤ (84)
(84)
So We responded to him and removed what afflicted him of adversity. And We gave him [back] his family and the like thereof with them as mercy from Us and a reminder for the worshippers [of Allāh].
٢١:٨٥
وَإِسْمَـٰعِيلَ And Ishmael wa-is'māʿīla
And Ishmael
وَإِدْرِيسَ and Idris wa-id'rīsa
and Idris
وَذَا and Dhul-Kifl wadhā
and Dhul-Kifl
ٱلْكِفْلِ ۖ and Dhul-Kifl l-kif'li
and Dhul-Kifl
كُلٌّۭ all kullun
all
مِّنَ (were) of mina
(were) of
ٱلصَّـٰبِرِينَ the patient ones l-ṣābirīna
the patient ones
٨٥ (85)
(85)
And [mention] Ishmael and Idrees and Dhul-Kifl; all were of the patient.
٢١:٨٦
وَأَدْخَلْنَـٰهُمْ And We admitted them wa-adkhalnāhum
And We admitted them
فِى in
in
رَحْمَتِنَآ ۖ Our Mercy raḥmatinā
Our Mercy
إِنَّهُم Indeed, they innahum
Indeed, they
مِّنَ (were) of mina
(were) of
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ the righteous l-ṣāliḥīna
the righteous
٨٦ (86)
(86)
And We admitted them into Our mercy. Indeed, they were of the righteous.
٢١:٨٧
وَذَا And Dhun-Nun wadhā
And Dhun-Nun
ٱلنُّونِ And Dhun-Nun l-nūni
And Dhun-Nun
إِذ when idh
when
ذَّهَبَ he went dhahaba
he went
مُغَـٰضِبًۭا (while) angry mughāḍiban
(while) angry
فَظَنَّ and thought faẓanna
and thought
أَن that an
that
لَّن never lan
never
نَّقْدِرَ We would decree naqdira
We would decree
عَلَيْهِ upon him ʿalayhi
upon him
فَنَادَىٰ Then he called fanādā
Then he called
فِى in
in
ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ the darkness(es) l-ẓulumāti
the darkness(es)
أَن that an
that
لَّآ (There is) no
(There is) no
إِلَـٰهَ god ilāha
god
إِلَّآ except illā
except
أَنتَ You anta
You
سُبْحَـٰنَكَ Glory be to You sub'ḥānaka
Glory be to You
إِنِّى Indeed, [I] innī
Indeed, [I]
كُنتُ I am kuntu
I am
مِنَ of mina
of
ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ the wrongdoers l-ẓālimīna
the wrongdoers
٨٧ (87)
(87)
And [mention] the man of the fish [i.e., Jonah], when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."
٢١:٨٨
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا So We responded fa-is'tajabnā
So We responded
لَهُۥ to him lahu
to him
وَنَجَّيْنَـٰهُ and We saved him wanajjaynāhu
and We saved him
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلْغَمِّ ۚ the distress l-ghami
the distress
وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus wakadhālika
And thus
نُـۨجِى We save nunjī
We save
ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ the believers l-mu'minīna
the believers
٨٨ (88)
(88)
So We responded to him and saved him from the distress. And thus do We save the believers.
٢١:٨٩
وَزَكَرِيَّآ And Zakariya wazakariyyā
And Zakariya
إِذْ when idh
when
نَادَىٰ he called nādā
he called
رَبَّهُۥ (to) his Lord rabbahu
(to) his Lord
رَبِّ My Lord rabbi
My Lord
لَا (Do) not
(Do) not
تَذَرْنِى leave me tadharnī
leave me
فَرْدًۭا alone fardan
alone
وَأَنتَ while You wa-anta
while You
خَيْرُ (are) [the] Best khayru
(are) [the] Best
ٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ (of) the inheritors l-wārithīna
(of) the inheritors
٨٩ (89)
(89)
And [mention] Zechariah, when he called to his Lord, "My Lord, do not leave me alone [with no heir], while You are the best of inheritors."
٢١:٩٠
فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا So We responded fa-is'tajabnā
So We responded
لَهُۥ to him lahu
to him
وَوَهَبْنَا and We bestowed wawahabnā
and We bestowed
لَهُۥ on him lahu
on him
يَحْيَىٰ Yahya yaḥyā
Yahya
وَأَصْلَحْنَا and We cured wa-aṣlaḥnā
and We cured
لَهُۥ for him lahu
for him
زَوْجَهُۥٓ ۚ his wife zawjahu
his wife
إِنَّهُمْ Indeed, they innahum
Indeed, they
كَانُوا۟ used (to) kānū
used (to)
يُسَـٰرِعُونَ hasten yusāriʿūna
hasten
فِى in
in
ٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ good deeds l-khayrāti
good deeds
وَيَدْعُونَنَا and they supplicate to Us wayadʿūnanā
and they supplicate to Us
رَغَبًۭا (in) hope raghaban
(in) hope
وَرَهَبًۭا ۖ and fear warahaban
and fear
وَكَانُوا۟ and they were wakānū
and they were
لَنَا to Us lanā
to Us
خَـٰشِعِينَ humbly submissive khāshiʿīna
humbly submissive
٩٠ (90)
(90)
So We responded to him, and We gave to him John, and amended for him his wife. Indeed, they used to hasten to good deeds and supplicate Us in hope and fear, and they were to Us humbly submissive.
٢١:٩١
وَٱلَّتِىٓ And she who wa-allatī
And she who
أَحْصَنَتْ guarded aḥṣanat
guarded
فَرْجَهَا her chastity farjahā
her chastity
فَنَفَخْنَا so We breathed fanafakhnā
so We breathed
فِيهَا into her fīhā
into her
مِن of min
of
رُّوحِنَا Our Spirit rūḥinā
Our Spirit
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهَا and We made her wajaʿalnāhā
and We made her
وَٱبْنَهَآ and her son wa-ib'nahā
and her son
ءَايَةًۭ a sign āyatan
a sign
لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ for the worlds lil'ʿālamīna
for the worlds
٩١ (91)
(91)
And [mention] the one who guarded her chastity [i.e., Mary], so We blew into her [garment] through Our angel [i.e., Gabriel], and We made her and her son a sign for the worlds.
٢١:٩٢
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
هَـٰذِهِۦٓ this hādhihi
this
أُمَّتُكُمْ (is) your religion ummatukum
(is) your religion
أُمَّةًۭ religion ummatan
religion
وَٰحِدَةًۭ one wāḥidatan
one
وَأَنَا۠ and I Am wa-anā
and I Am
رَبُّكُمْ your Lord rabbukum
your Lord
فَٱعْبُدُونِ so worship Me fa-uʿ'budūni
so worship Me
٩٢ (92)
(92)
Indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so worship Me.
٢١:٩٣
وَتَقَطَّعُوٓا۟ But they cut off wataqaṭṭaʿū
But they cut off
أَمْرَهُم their affair amrahum
their affair
بَيْنَهُمْ ۖ among themselves baynahum
among themselves
كُلٌّ all kullun
all
إِلَيْنَا to Us ilaynā
to Us
رَٰجِعُونَ (will) return rājiʿūna
(will) return
٩٣ (93)
(93)
And [yet] they divided their affair [i.e., that of their religion] among themselves, [but] all to Us will return.
٢١:٩٤
فَمَن Then whoever faman
Then whoever
يَعْمَلْ does yaʿmal
does
مِنَ [of] mina
[of]
ٱلصَّـٰلِحَـٰتِ [the] righteous deeds l-ṣāliḥāti
[the] righteous deeds
وَهُوَ while he wahuwa
while he
مُؤْمِنٌۭ (is) a believer mu'minun
(is) a believer
فَلَا then not falā
then not
كُفْرَانَ (will be) rejected kuf'rāna
(will be) rejected
لِسَعْيِهِۦ [of] his effort lisaʿyihi
[of] his effort
وَإِنَّا And indeed, We wa-innā
And indeed, We
لَهُۥ of it lahu
of it
كَـٰتِبُونَ (are) Recorders kātibūna
(are) Recorders
٩٤ (94)
(94)
So whoever does righteous deeds while he is a believer - no denial will there be for his effort, and indeed We [i.e., Our angels], of it, are recorders.
٢١:٩٥
وَحَرَٰمٌ And (there is) prohibition waḥarāmun
And (there is) prohibition
عَلَىٰ upon ʿalā
upon
قَرْيَةٍ a city qaryatin
a city
أَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآ which We have destroyed ahlaknāhā
which We have destroyed
أَنَّهُمْ that they annahum
that they
لَا not
not
يَرْجِعُونَ will return yarjiʿūna
will return
٩٥ (95)
(95)
And it is prohibited to [the people of] a city which We have destroyed that they will [ever] return
٢١:٩٦
حَتَّىٰٓ Until ḥattā
Until
إِذَا when idhā
when
فُتِحَتْ has been opened futiḥat
has been opened
يَأْجُوجُ (for) the Yajuj yajūju
(for) the Yajuj
وَمَأْجُوجُ and Majuj wamajūju
and Majuj
وَهُم and they wahum
and they
مِّن from min
from
كُلِّ every kulli
every
حَدَبٍۢ elevation ḥadabin
elevation
يَنسِلُونَ descend yansilūna
descend
٩٦ (96)
(96)
Until when [the dam of] Gog and Magog has been opened and they, from every elevation, descend
٢١:٩٧
وَٱقْتَرَبَ And has approached wa-iq'taraba
And has approached
ٱلْوَعْدُ the promise l-waʿdu
the promise
ٱلْحَقُّ [the] true l-ḥaqu
[the] true
فَإِذَا then behold fa-idhā
then behold
هِىَ [it] hiya
[it]
شَـٰخِصَةٌ (are) staring shākhiṣatun
(are) staring
أَبْصَـٰرُ (the) eyes abṣāru
(the) eyes
ٱلَّذِينَ (of) those who alladhīna
(of) those who
كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieved kafarū
disbelieved
يَـٰوَيْلَنَا O woe to us yāwaylanā
O woe to us
قَدْ Verily qad
Verily
كُنَّا we had been kunnā
we had been
فِى in
in
غَفْلَةٍۢ heedlessness ghaflatin
heedlessness
مِّنْ of min
of
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
بَلْ nay bal
nay
كُنَّا we were kunnā
we were
ظَـٰلِمِينَ wrongdoers ẓālimīna
wrongdoers
٩٧ (97)
(97)
And [when] the true promise [i.e., the resurrection] has approached; then suddenly the eyes of those who disbelieved will be staring [in horror, while they say], "O woe to us; we had been unmindful of this; rather, we were wrongdoers."
٢١:٩٨
إِنَّكُمْ Indeed, you innakum
Indeed, you
وَمَا and what wamā
and what
تَعْبُدُونَ you worship taʿbudūna
you worship
مِن besides Allah min
besides Allah
دُونِ besides Allah dūni
besides Allah
ٱللَّهِ besides Allah l-lahi
besides Allah
حَصَبُ (are) firewood ḥaṣabu
(are) firewood
جَهَنَّمَ (of) Hell jahannama
(of) Hell
أَنتُمْ You antum
You
لَهَا to it lahā
to it
وَٰرِدُونَ will come wāridūna
will come
٩٨ (98)
(98)
Indeed, you [disbelievers] and what you worship other than Allāh are the firewood of Hell. You will be coming to [enter] it.
٢١:٩٩
لَوْ If law
If
كَانَ were kāna
were
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ these hāulāi
these
ءَالِهَةًۭ gods ālihatan
gods
مَّا not
not
وَرَدُوهَا ۖ they (would) have come to it waradūhā
they (would) have come to it
وَكُلٌّۭ And all wakullun
And all
فِيهَا therein fīhā
therein
خَـٰلِدُونَ will abide forever khālidūna
will abide forever
٩٩ (99)
(99)
Had these [false deities] been [actual] gods, they would not have come to it, but all are eternal therein.
٢١:١٠٠
لَهُمْ For them lahum
For them
فِيهَا therein fīhā
therein
زَفِيرٌۭ (is) sighing zafīrun
(is) sighing
وَهُمْ and they wahum
and they
فِيهَا therein fīhā
therein
لَا not
not
يَسْمَعُونَ will hear yasmaʿūna
will hear
١٠٠ (100)
(100)
For them therein is heavy sighing, and they therein will not hear.
٢١:١٠١
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ those alladhīna
those
سَبَقَتْ has gone forth sabaqat
has gone forth
لَهُم for them lahum
for them
مِّنَّا from Us minnā
from Us
ٱلْحُسْنَىٰٓ the good l-ḥus'nā
the good
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ those ulāika
those
عَنْهَا from it ʿanhā
from it
مُبْعَدُونَ (will be) removed far mub'ʿadūna
(will be) removed far
١٠١ (101)
(101)
Indeed, those for whom the best [reward] has preceded from Us - they are from it far removed.
٢١:١٠٢
لَا Not
Not
يَسْمَعُونَ they will hear yasmaʿūna
they will hear
حَسِيسَهَا ۖ (the) slightest sound of it ḥasīsahā
(the) slightest sound of it
وَهُمْ and they wahum
and they
فِى in
in
مَا what
what
ٱشْتَهَتْ desire ish'tahat
desire
أَنفُسُهُمْ their souls anfusuhum
their souls
خَـٰلِدُونَ will abide forever khālidūna
will abide forever
١٠٢ (102)
(102)
They will not hear its sound, while they are, in that which their souls desire, abiding eternally.
٢١:١٠٣
لَا Not
Not
يَحْزُنُهُمُ will grieve them yaḥzunuhumu
will grieve them
ٱلْفَزَعُ the terror l-fazaʿu
the terror
ٱلْأَكْبَرُ [the] greatest l-akbaru
[the] greatest
وَتَتَلَقَّىٰهُمُ and will meet them watatalaqqāhumu
and will meet them
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ the Angels l-malāikatu
the Angels
هَـٰذَا This hādhā
This
يَوْمُكُمُ (is) your Day yawmukumu
(is) your Day
ٱلَّذِى which alladhī
which
كُنتُمْ you were kuntum
you were
تُوعَدُونَ promised tūʿadūna
promised
١٠٣ (103)
(103)
They will not be grieved by the greatest terror, and the angels will meet them, [saying], "This is your Day which you have been promised" -
٢١:١٠٤
يَوْمَ (The) Day yawma
(The) Day
نَطْوِى We will fold naṭwī
We will fold
ٱلسَّمَآءَ the heaven l-samāa
the heaven
كَطَىِّ like (the) folding kaṭayyi
like (the) folding
ٱلسِّجِلِّ (of) a scroll l-sijili
(of) a scroll
لِلْكُتُبِ ۚ for records lil'kutubi
for records
كَمَا As kamā
As
بَدَأْنَآ We began badanā
We began
أَوَّلَ (the) first awwala
(the) first
خَلْقٍۢ creation khalqin
creation
نُّعِيدُهُۥ ۚ We will repeat it nuʿīduhu
We will repeat it
وَعْدًا a promise waʿdan
a promise
عَلَيْنَآ ۚ upon Us ʿalaynā
upon Us
إِنَّا Indeed, We innā
Indeed, We
كُنَّا We are kunnā
We are
فَـٰعِلِينَ (the) Doers fāʿilīna
(the) Doers
١٠٤ (104)
(104)
The Day when We will fold the heaven like the folding of a [written] sheet for the records. As We began the first creation, We will repeat it. [That is] a promise binding upon Us. Indeed, We will do it.
٢١:١٠٥
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad
And verily
كَتَبْنَا We have written katabnā
We have written
فِى in
in
ٱلزَّبُورِ the Scripture l-zabūri
the Scripture
مِنۢ after min
after
بَعْدِ after baʿdi
after
ٱلذِّكْرِ the mention l-dhik'ri
the mention
أَنَّ that anna
that
ٱلْأَرْضَ the earth l-arḍa
the earth
يَرِثُهَا will inherit it yarithuhā
will inherit it
عِبَادِىَ My slaves ʿibādiya
My slaves
ٱلصَّـٰلِحُونَ the righteous l-ṣāliḥūna
the righteous
١٠٥ (105)
(105)
And We have already written in the book [of Psalms]1 after the [previous] mention that the land [of Paradise] is inherited by My righteous servants.
٢١:١٠٦
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
فِى in
in
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
لَبَلَـٰغًۭا surely is a Message labalāghan
surely is a Message
لِّقَوْمٍ for a people liqawmin
for a people
عَـٰبِدِينَ worshippers ʿābidīna
worshippers
١٠٦ (106)
(106)
Indeed, in this [Qur’ān] is notification for a worshipping people.
٢١:١٠٧
وَمَآ And not wamā
And not
أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ We have sent you arsalnāka
We have sent you
إِلَّا but illā
but
رَحْمَةًۭ (as) a mercy raḥmatan
(as) a mercy
لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ for the worlds lil'ʿālamīna
for the worlds
١٠٧ (107)
(107)
And We have not sent you, [O Muḥammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.
٢١:١٠٨
قُلْ Say qul
Say
إِنَّمَا Only innamā
Only
يُوحَىٰٓ it is revealed yūḥā
it is revealed
إِلَىَّ to me ilayya
to me
أَنَّمَآ that annamā
that
إِلَـٰهُكُمْ your god ilāhukum
your god
إِلَـٰهٌۭ (is) God ilāhun
(is) God
وَٰحِدٌۭ ۖ One wāḥidun
One
فَهَلْ so will fahal
so will
أَنتُم you antum
you
مُّسْلِمُونَ submit (to Him) mus'limūna
submit (to Him)
١٠٨ (108)
(108)
Say, "It is only revealed to me that your god is but one God; so will you be Muslims [in submission to Him]?"
٢١:١٠٩
فَإِن But if fa-in
But if
تَوَلَّوْا۟ they turn away tawallaw
they turn away
فَقُلْ then say faqul
then say
ءَاذَنتُكُمْ I (have) announced to you ādhantukum
I (have) announced to you
عَلَىٰ equally ʿalā
equally
سَوَآءٍۢ ۖ equally sawāin
equally
وَإِنْ And not wa-in
And not
أَدْرِىٓ I know adrī
I know
أَقَرِيبٌ whether is near aqarībun
whether is near
أَم or am
or
بَعِيدٌۭ far baʿīdun
far
مَّا what
what
تُوعَدُونَ you are promised tūʿadūna
you are promised
١٠٩ (109)
(109)
But if they turn away, then say, "I have announced to [all of] you equally. And I know not whether near or far is that which you are promised.
٢١:١١٠
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, He innahu
Indeed, He
يَعْلَمُ knows yaʿlamu
knows
ٱلْجَهْرَ the declared l-jahra
the declared
مِنَ [of] mina
[of]
ٱلْقَوْلِ [the] speech l-qawli
[the] speech
وَيَعْلَمُ and He knows wayaʿlamu
and He knows
مَا what
what
تَكْتُمُونَ you conceal taktumūna
you conceal
١١٠ (110)
(110)
Indeed, He knows what is declared of speech, and He knows what you conceal.
٢١:١١١
وَإِنْ And not wa-in
And not
أَدْرِى I know adrī
I know
لَعَلَّهُۥ perhaps it may be laʿallahu
perhaps it may be
فِتْنَةٌۭ a trial fit'natun
a trial
لَّكُمْ for you lakum
for you
وَمَتَـٰعٌ and an enjoyment wamatāʿun
and an enjoyment
إِلَىٰ for ilā
for
حِينٍۢ a time ḥīnin
a time
١١١ (111)
(111)
And I know not; perhaps it is a trial for you and enjoyment for a time."
٢١:١١٢
قَـٰلَ He said qāla
He said
رَبِّ My Lord rabbi
My Lord
ٱحْكُم judge uḥ'kum
judge
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۗ in truth bil-ḥaqi
in truth
وَرَبُّنَا And our Lord warabbunā
And our Lord
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ (is) the Most Gracious l-raḥmānu
(is) the Most Gracious
ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ the One Whose help is sought l-mus'taʿānu
the One Whose help is sought
عَلَىٰ against ʿalā
against
مَا what
what
تَصِفُونَ you attribute taṣifūna
you attribute
١١٢ (112)
(112)
[The Prophet (ﷺ)] has said, "My Lord, judge [between us] in truth. And our Lord is the Most Merciful, the one whose help is sought against that which you describe."1
