بسملة

بِسْمِIn (the) nameٱللَّهِ(of) Allahٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Merciful

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ

٥٠:١

قٓ ۚQafوَٱلْقُرْءَانِBy the Quranٱلْمَجِيدِthe Glorious١

Qāf. By the honored Qur’ān...

٥٠:٢

بَلْNayعَجِبُوٓا۟they wonderأَنthatجَآءَهُمhas come to themمُّنذِرٌۭa warnerمِّنْهُمْfrom themفَقَالَSo sayٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَthe disbelieversهَـٰذَاThisشَىْءٌ(is) a thingعَجِيبٌamazing٢

But they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say, "This is an amazing thing.

٥٠:٣

أَءِذَاWhat! Whenمِتْنَاwe dieوَكُنَّاand have becomeتُرَابًۭا ۖdustذَٰلِكَThatرَجْعٌۢ(is) a returnبَعِيدٌۭfar٣

When we have died and have become dust, [we will return to life]? That is a distant [i.e., unlikely] return."

٥٠:٤

قَدْCertainlyعَلِمْنَاWe knowمَاwhatتَنقُصُdiminishesٱلْأَرْضُthe earthمِنْهُمْ ۖof themوَعِندَنَاand with Usكِتَـٰبٌ(is) a Bookحَفِيظٌۢguarded٤

We know what the earth diminishes [i.e., consumes] of them, and with Us is a retaining record.

٥٠:٥

بَلْNayكَذَّبُوا۟they deniedبِٱلْحَقِّthe truthلَمَّاwhenجَآءَهُمْit came (to) themفَهُمْso theyفِىٓ(are) inأَمْرٍۢa stateمَّرِيجٍconfused٥

But they denied the truth when it came to them, so they are in a confused condition.

٥٠:٦

أَفَلَمْThen do notيَنظُرُوٓا۟they lookإِلَىatٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyفَوْقَهُمْabove them كَيْفَhowبَنَيْنَـٰهَاWe structured itوَزَيَّنَّـٰهَاand adorned itوَمَاand notلَهَاfor itمِنanyفُرُوجٍۢrifts٦

Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and [how] it has no rifts?

٥٠:٧

وَٱلْأَرْضَAnd the earthمَدَدْنَـٰهَاWe have spread it outوَأَلْقَيْنَاand castفِيهَاthereinرَوَٰسِىَfirmly set mountainsوَأَنۢبَتْنَاand We made to growفِيهَاthereinمِنofكُلِّeveryزَوْجٍۭkindبَهِيجٍۢbeautiful٧

And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein [something] of every beautiful kind,

٥٠:٨

تَبْصِرَةًۭGiving insightوَذِكْرَىٰand a reminderلِكُلِّfor everyعَبْدٍۢslaveمُّنِيبٍۢwho turns٨

Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allāh].

٥٠:٩

وَنَزَّلْنَاAnd We have sent downمِنَfromٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyمَآءًۭwaterمُّبَـٰرَكًۭاblessedفَأَنۢبَتْنَاthen We made to growبِهِۦtherebyجَنَّـٰتٍۢgardensوَحَبَّand grainٱلْحَصِيدِ(for) the harvest٩

And We have sent down blessed rain from the sky and made grow thereby gardens and grain from the harvest

٥٠:١٠

وَٱلنَّخْلَAnd the palms treesبَاسِقَـٰتٍۢtall لَّهَاfor itطَلْعٌۭ(are) layersنَّضِيدٌۭarranged١٠

And lofty palm trees having fruit arranged in layers -

٥٠:١١

رِّزْقًۭاA provisionلِّلْعِبَادِ ۖfor the slavesوَأَحْيَيْنَاand We give lifeبِهِۦtherewithبَلْدَةًۭ(to) a landمَّيْتًۭا ۚdeadكَذَٰلِكَThusٱلْخُرُوجُ(will be) the coming forth١١

As provision for the servants, and We have given life thereby to a dead land. Thus is the emergence [i.e., resurrection].

٥٠:١٢

كَذَّبَتْDeniedقَبْلَهُمْbefore themقَوْمُ(the) peopleنُوحٍۢ(of) Nuhوَأَصْحَـٰبُand (the) companionsٱلرَّسِّ(of) Ar-Raasوَثَمُودُand Thamud١٢

The people of Noah denied before them, and the companions of the well and Thamūd

٥٠:١٣

وَعَادٌۭAnd Aadوَفِرْعَوْنُand Firaunوَإِخْوَٰنُand (the) brothersلُوطٍۢ(of) Lut١٣

And ʿAad and Pharaoh and the brothers [i.e., people] of Lot

٥٠:١٤

وَأَصْحَـٰبُAnd (the) companionsٱلْأَيْكَةِ(of) the woodوَقَوْمُand (the) peopleتُبَّعٍۢ ۚ(of) TubbaكُلٌّۭAllكَذَّبَdeniedٱلرُّسُلَthe Messengersفَحَقَّso was fulfilledوَعِيدِMy Threat١٤

And the companions of the thicket and the people of Tubbaʿ. All denied the messengers, so My threat was justly fulfilled.

٥٠:١٥

أَفَعَيِينَاWere We then tiredبِٱلْخَلْقِwith the creationٱلْأَوَّلِ ۚthe firstبَلْNayهُمْtheyفِى(are) inلَبْسٍۢdoubtمِّنْaboutخَلْقٍۢa creationجَدِيدٍۢnew١٥

Did We fail in the first creation? But they are in confusion over a new creation.

٥٠:١٦

وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyخَلَقْنَاWe createdٱلْإِنسَـٰنَmanوَنَعْلَمُand We knowمَاwhatتُوَسْوِسُwhispersبِهِۦto himنَفْسُهُۥ ۖhis soulوَنَحْنُand Weأَقْرَبُ(are) nearerإِلَيْهِto himمِنْthanحَبْلِ(his) jugular veinٱلْوَرِيدِ(his) jugular vein١٦

And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein.

٥٠:١٧

إِذْWhenيَتَلَقَّىreceiveٱلْمُتَلَقِّيَانِthe two receiversعَنِonٱلْيَمِينِthe rightوَعَنِand onٱلشِّمَالِthe leftقَعِيدٌۭseated١٧

When the two receivers [i.e., recording angels] receive, seated on the right and on the left.

٥٠:١٨

مَّاNotيَلْفِظُhe uttersمِنanyقَوْلٍwordإِلَّاbutلَدَيْهِwith himرَقِيبٌ(is) an observerعَتِيدٌۭready١٨

He [i.e., man] utters no word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record].

٥٠:١٩

وَجَآءَتْAnd will comeسَكْرَةُ(the) stuporٱلْمَوْتِ(of) deathبِٱلْحَقِّ ۖin truthذَٰلِكَThatمَا(is) whatكُنتَyou wereمِنْهُ[from it]تَحِيدُavoiding١٩

And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that is what you were trying to avoid.

٥٠:٢٠

وَنُفِخَAnd will be blownفِى[in]ٱلصُّورِ ۚthe trumpetذَٰلِكَThatيَوْمُ(is the) Dayٱلْوَعِيدِ(of) the Warning٢٠

And the Horn will be blown. That is the Day of [carrying out] the threat.

٥٠:٢١

وَجَآءَتْAnd will comeكُلُّeveryنَفْسٍۢsoulمَّعَهَاwith itسَآئِقٌۭa driverوَشَهِيدٌۭand a witness٢١

And every soul will come, with it a driver and a witness.

٥٠:٢٢

لَّقَدْCertainlyكُنتَyou wereفِىinغَفْلَةٍۢheedlessnessمِّنْofهَـٰذَاthisفَكَشَفْنَاSo We have removedعَنكَfrom youغِطَآءَكَyour coverفَبَصَرُكَso your sightٱلْيَوْمَtodayحَدِيدٌۭ(is) sharp٢٢

[It will be said], "You were certainly in unmindfulness of this, and We have removed from you your cover, so your sight, this Day, is sharp."

٥٠:٢٣

وَقَالَAnd (will) sayقَرِينُهُۥhis companionهَـٰذَاThisمَا(is) whatلَدَىَّ(is) with meعَتِيدٌready٢٣

And his companion, [the angel], will say, "This [record] is what is with me, prepared."

٥٠:٢٤

أَلْقِيَاThrowفِىin (to)جَهَنَّمَHellكُلَّeveryكَفَّارٍdisbelieverعَنِيدٍۢstubborn٢٤

[Allāh will say], "Throw into Hell every obstinate disbeliever,

٥٠:٢٥

مَّنَّاعٍۢForbidderلِّلْخَيْرِof goodمُعْتَدٍۢtransgressorمُّرِيبٍdoubter٢٥

Preventer of good, aggressor, and doubter,

٥٠:٢٦

ٱلَّذِىWhoجَعَلَmadeمَعَwithٱللَّهِAllahإِلَـٰهًاa godءَاخَرَanotherفَأَلْقِيَاهُso throw himفِىin(to)ٱلْعَذَابِthe punishmentٱلشَّدِيدِthe severe٢٦

Who made [as equal] with Allāh another deity; then throw him into the severe punishment."

٥٠:٢٧

۞ قَالَWill sayقَرِينُهُۥhis companionرَبَّنَاOur LordمَآnotأَطْغَيْتُهُۥI made him transgressوَلَـٰكِنbutكَانَhe wasفِىinضَلَـٰلٍۭerrorبَعِيدٍۢfar٢٧

His [devil] companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not make him transgress, but he [himself] was in extreme error."

٥٠:٢٨

قَالَHe will sayلَا(Do) notتَخْتَصِمُوا۟disputeلَدَىَّ(in) My presenceوَقَدْand indeedقَدَّمْتُI sent forthإِلَيْكُمto youبِٱلْوَعِيدِthe Warning٢٨

[Allāh] will say, "Do not dispute before Me, while I had already presented to you the threat [i.e., warning].

٥٠:٢٩

مَاNotيُبَدَّلُwill be changedٱلْقَوْلُthe wordلَدَىَّwith Meوَمَآand notأَنَا۠I Amبِظَلَّـٰمٍۢunjustلِّلْعَبِيدِto My slaves٢٩

The word [i.e., decree] will not be changed with Me, and never will I be unjust to the servants."

٥٠:٣٠

يَوْمَ(The) DayنَقُولُWe will sayلِجَهَنَّمَto HellهَلِAreٱمْتَلَأْتِyou filledوَتَقُولُAnd it will sayهَلْAreمِن(there) anyمَّزِيدٍۢmore٣٠

On the Day We will say to Hell, "Have you been filled?" and it will say, "Are there some more,"

٥٠:٣١

وَأُزْلِفَتِAnd will be brought nearٱلْجَنَّةُthe Paradiseلِلْمُتَّقِينَto the righteousغَيْرَnotبَعِيدٍfar٣١

And Paradise will be brought near to the righteous, not far,

٥٠:٣٢

هَـٰذَاThisمَا(is) whatتُوعَدُونَyou were promisedلِكُلِّfor everyoneأَوَّابٍwho turnsحَفِيظٍۢ(and) who keeps٣٢

[It will be said], "This is what you were promised - for every returner [to Allāh] and keeper [of His covenant].

٥٠:٣٣

مَّنْWhoخَشِىَfearedٱلرَّحْمَـٰنَthe Most Graciousبِٱلْغَيْبِin the unseenوَجَآءَand cameبِقَلْبٍۢwith a heartمُّنِيبٍreturning٣٣

Who feared the Most Merciful in the unseen and came with a heart returning [in repentance].

٥٠:٣٤

ٱدْخُلُوهَاEnter itبِسَلَـٰمٍۢ ۖin peaceذَٰلِكَThatيَوْمُ(is) a Dayٱلْخُلُودِ(of) Eternity٣٤

Enter it in peace. This is the Day of Eternity."

٥٠:٣٥

لَهُمFor themمَّاwhateverيَشَآءُونَthey wishفِيهَاthereinوَلَدَيْنَاand with Usمَزِيدٌۭ(is) more٣٥

They will have whatever they wish therein, and with Us is more.

٥٠:٣٦

وَكَمْAnd how manyأَهْلَكْنَاWe destroyedقَبْلَهُمbefore themمِّنofقَرْنٍa generationهُمْtheyأَشَدُّ(were) strongerمِنْهُمthan themبَطْشًۭا(in) powerفَنَقَّبُوا۟so they exploredفِىthroughoutٱلْبِلَـٰدِthe landsهَلْIs (there)مِنanyمَّحِيصٍplace of escape٣٦

And how many a generation before them did We destroy who were greater than them in [striking] power and had explored throughout the lands. Is there any place of escape?

٥٠:٣٧

إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَذِكْرَىٰsurely, is a reminderلِمَنfor (one) whoكَانَis لَهُۥfor himقَلْبٌa heartأَوْorأَلْقَى(who) gives earٱلسَّمْعَ(who) gives earوَهُوَwhile heشَهِيدٌۭ(is) a witness٣٧

Indeed in that is a reminder for whoever has a heart or who listens while he is present [in mind].

٥٠:٣٨

وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyخَلَقْنَاWe createdٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَand the earthوَمَاand whateverبَيْنَهُمَا(is) between both of themفِىinسِتَّةِsixأَيَّامٍۢperiodsوَمَاand (did) notمَسَّنَاtouch Usمِنanyلُّغُوبٍۢfatigue٣٨

And We did certainly create the heavens and earth and what is between them in six days, and there touched Us no weariness.

٥٠:٣٩

فَٱصْبِرْSo be patientعَلَىٰoverمَاwhatيَقُولُونَthey sayوَسَبِّحْand glorifyبِحَمْدِ(the) praiseرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordقَبْلَbeforeطُلُوعِ(the) risingٱلشَّمْسِ(of) the sunوَقَبْلَand beforeٱلْغُرُوبِthe setting٣٩

So be patient, [O Muḥammad], over what they say and exalt [Allāh] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting,

٥٠:٤٠

وَمِنَAnd ofٱلَّيْلِthe nightفَسَبِّحْهُglorify Himوَأَدْبَـٰرَand afterٱلسُّجُودِthe prostration٤٠

And [in part] of the night exalt Him and after prostration [i.e., prayer].

٥٠:٤١

وَٱسْتَمِعْAnd listenيَوْمَ(The) Dayيُنَادِwill callٱلْمُنَادِthe callerمِنfromمَّكَانٍۢa placeقَرِيبٍۢnear٤١

And listen on the Day when the Caller will call out from a place that is near -

٥٠:٤٢

يَوْمَ(The) Dayيَسْمَعُونَthey will hearٱلصَّيْحَةَthe Blastبِٱلْحَقِّ ۚin truthذَٰلِكَThatيَوْمُ(is the) Dayٱلْخُرُوجِ(of) coming forth٤٢

The Day they will hear the blast [of the Horn] in truth. That is the Day of Emergence [from the graves].

٥٠:٤٣

إِنَّاIndeed, Weنَحْنُ[We]نُحْىِۦ[We] give lifeوَنُمِيتُand [We] cause deathوَإِلَيْنَاand to Usٱلْمَصِيرُ(is) the final return٤٣

Indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and to Us is the destination

٥٠:٤٤

يَوْمَ(The) Dayتَشَقَّقُwill splitٱلْأَرْضُthe earthعَنْهُمْfrom themسِرَاعًۭا ۚhurryingذَٰلِكَThatحَشْرٌ(is) a gatheringعَلَيْنَاfor Usيَسِيرٌۭeasy٤٤

On the Day the earth breaks away from them [and they emerge] rapidly; that is a gathering easy for Us.

٥٠:٤٥

نَّحْنُWeأَعْلَمُknow bestبِمَا[of] whatيَقُولُونَ ۖthey sayوَمَآand notأَنتَ(are) youعَلَيْهِمover themبِجَبَّارٍۢ ۖthe one to compelفَذَكِّرْBut remindبِٱلْقُرْءَانِwith the QuranمَنwhoeverيَخَافُfearsوَعِيدِMy threat٤٥

We are most knowing of what they say, and you are not over them a tyrant. But remind by the Qur’ān whoever fears My threat.
