النحل
Bismillah
بِسْمِ In (the) name bis'mi
In (the) name
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمِ the Most Merciful l-raḥīmi
the Most Merciful
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
16:1
أَتَىٰٓ Will come atā
Will come
أَمْرُ (the) command of Allah amru
(the) command of Allah
ٱللَّهِ (the) command of Allah l-lahi
(the) command of Allah
فَلَا so (do) not falā
so (do) not
تَسْتَعْجِلُوهُ ۚ (be) impatient for it tastaʿjilūhu
(be) impatient for it
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ Glorified is He sub'ḥānahu
Glorified is He
وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ and Exalted (is) He wataʿālā
and Exalted (is) He
عَمَّا above what ʿammā
above what
يُشْرِكُونَ they associate yush'rikūna
they associate
١ (1)
(1)
The command of Allāh is coming, so be not impatient for it. Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him.
16:2
يُنَزِّلُ He sends down yunazzilu
He sends down
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ the Angels l-malāikata
the Angels
بِٱلرُّوحِ with the inspiration bil-rūḥi
with the inspiration
مِنْ of min
of
أَمْرِهِۦ His Command amrihi
His Command
عَلَىٰ upon ʿalā
upon
مَن whom man
whom
يَشَآءُ He wills yashāu
He wills
مِنْ of min
of
عِبَادِهِۦٓ His slaves ʿibādihi
His slaves
أَنْ that an
that
أَنذِرُوٓا۟ Warn andhirū
Warn
أَنَّهُۥ that [He] annahu
that [He]
لَآ (there is) no
(there is) no
إِلَـٰهَ god ilāha
god
إِلَّآ except illā
except
أَنَا۠ Me anā
Me
فَٱتَّقُونِ so fear Me fa-ittaqūni
so fear Me
٢ (2)
(2)
He sends down the angels, with the inspiration [i.e., revelation] of His command, upon whom He wills of His servants, [telling them], "Warn that there is no deity except Me; so fear Me."
16:3
خَلَقَ He created khalaqa
He created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ and the earth wal-arḍa
and the earth
بِٱلْحَقِّ ۚ in truth bil-ḥaqi
in truth
تَعَـٰلَىٰ Exalted is He taʿālā
Exalted is He
عَمَّا above what ʿammā
above what
يُشْرِكُونَ they associate yush'rikūna
they associate
٣ (3)
(3)
He created the heavens and earth in truth. High is He above what they associate with Him.
16:4
خَلَقَ He created khalaqa
He created
ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ the human kind l-insāna
the human kind
مِن from min
from
نُّطْفَةٍۢ a minute quantity of semen nuṭ'fatin
a minute quantity of semen
فَإِذَا then behold fa-idhā
then behold
هُوَ he huwa
he
خَصِيمٌۭ (is) an opponent khaṣīmun
(is) an opponent
مُّبِينٌۭ clear mubīnun
clear
٤ (4)
(4)
He created man from a sperm-drop; then at once he is a clear adversary.
16:5
وَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمَ And the cattle wal-anʿāma
And the cattle
خَلَقَهَا ۗ He created them khalaqahā
He created them
لَكُمْ for you lakum
for you
فِيهَا in them fīhā
in them
دِفْءٌۭ (is) warmth dif'on
(is) warmth
وَمَنَـٰفِعُ and benefits wamanāfiʿu
and benefits
وَمِنْهَا and from them wamin'hā
and from them
تَأْكُلُونَ you eat takulūna
you eat
٥ (5)
(5)
And the grazing livestock He has created for you; in them is warmth and [numerous] benefits, and from them you eat.
16:6
وَلَكُمْ And for you walakum
And for you
فِيهَا in them fīhā
in them
جَمَالٌ (is) beauty jamālun
(is) beauty
حِينَ when ḥīna
when
تُرِيحُونَ you bring them in turīḥūna
you bring them in
وَحِينَ and when waḥīna
and when
تَسْرَحُونَ you take them out tasraḥūna
you take them out
٦ (6)
(6)
And for you in them is [the enjoyment of] beauty when you bring them in [for the evening] and when you send them out [to pasture].
16:7
وَتَحْمِلُ And they carry wataḥmilu
And they carry
أَثْقَالَكُمْ your loads athqālakum
your loads
إِلَىٰ to ilā
to
بَلَدٍۢ a land baladin
a land
لَّمْ not lam
not
تَكُونُوا۟ you could takūnū
you could
بَـٰلِغِيهِ reach it bālighīhi
reach it
إِلَّا except illā
except
بِشِقِّ with great trouble bishiqqi
with great trouble
ٱلْأَنفُسِ ۚ (to) yourselves l-anfusi
(to) yourselves
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
رَبَّكُمْ your Lord rabbakum
your Lord
لَرَءُوفٌۭ surely is Most Kind laraūfun
surely is Most Kind
رَّحِيمٌۭ Most Merciful raḥīmun
Most Merciful
٧ (7)
(7)
And they carry your loads to a land you could not have reached except with difficulty to yourselves. Indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.
16:8
وَٱلْخَيْلَ And horses wal-khayla
And horses
وَٱلْبِغَالَ and mules wal-bighāla
and mules
وَٱلْحَمِيرَ and donkeys wal-ḥamīra
and donkeys
لِتَرْكَبُوهَا for you to ride them litarkabūhā
for you to ride them
وَزِينَةًۭ ۚ and (as) adornment wazīnatan
and (as) adornment
وَيَخْلُقُ And He creates wayakhluqu
And He creates
مَا what
what
لَا not
not
تَعْلَمُونَ you know taʿlamūna
you know
٨ (8)
(8)
And [He created] the horses, mules and donkeys for you to ride and [as] adornment. And He creates that which you do not know.
16:9
وَعَلَى And upon waʿalā
And upon
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
قَصْدُ (is) the direction qaṣdu
(is) the direction
ٱلسَّبِيلِ (of) the way l-sabīli
(of) the way
وَمِنْهَا and among them wamin'hā
and among them
جَآئِرٌۭ ۚ (are) crooked jāirun
(are) crooked
وَلَوْ And if walaw
And if
شَآءَ He willed shāa
He willed
لَهَدَىٰكُمْ surely He would have guided you lahadākum
surely He would have guided you
أَجْمَعِينَ all ajmaʿīna
all
٩ (9)
(9)
And upon Allāh is the direction of the [right] way, and among them [i.e., the various paths] are those deviating. And if He willed, He could have guided you all.
16:10
هُوَ He huwa
He
ٱلَّذِىٓ (is) the One Who alladhī
(is) the One Who
أَنزَلَ sends down anzala
sends down
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ the sky l-samāi
the sky
مَآءًۭ ۖ water māan
water
لَّكُم for you lakum
for you
مِّنْهُ of it min'hu
of it
شَرَابٌۭ (is) drink sharābun
(is) drink
وَمِنْهُ and from it wamin'hu
and from it
شَجَرٌۭ (grows) vegetation shajarun
(grows) vegetation
فِيهِ in which fīhi
in which
تُسِيمُونَ you pasture your cattle tusīmūna
you pasture your cattle
١٠ (10)
(10)
It is He who sends down rain from the sky; from it is drink and from it is foliage in which you pasture [animals].
16:11
يُنۢبِتُ He causes to grow yunbitu
He causes to grow
لَكُم for you lakum
for you
بِهِ with it bihi
with it
ٱلزَّرْعَ the crops l-zarʿa
the crops
وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ and the olives wal-zaytūna
and the olives
وَٱلنَّخِيلَ and the date-palms wal-nakhīla
and the date-palms
وَٱلْأَعْنَـٰبَ and the grapes wal-aʿnāba
and the grapes
وَمِن and of wamin
and of
كُلِّ every kind kulli
every kind
ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ ۗ (of) fruits l-thamarāti
(of) fruits
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
فِى in
in
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَةًۭ surely (is) a sign laāyatan
surely (is) a sign
لِّقَوْمٍۢ for a people liqawmin
for a people
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ who reflect yatafakkarūna
who reflect
١١ (11)
(11)
He causes to grow for you thereby the crops, olives, palm trees, grapevines, and of all the fruits. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.
16:12
وَسَخَّرَ And He has subjected wasakhara
And He has subjected
لَكُمُ for you lakumu
for you
ٱلَّيْلَ the night al-layla
the night
وَٱلنَّهَارَ and the day wal-nahāra
and the day
وَٱلشَّمْسَ and the sun wal-shamsa
and the sun
وَٱلْقَمَرَ ۖ and the moon wal-qamara
and the moon
وَٱلنُّجُومُ and the stars wal-nujūmu
and the stars
مُسَخَّرَٰتٌۢ (are) subjected musakharātun
(are) subjected
بِأَمْرِهِۦٓ ۗ by His command bi-amrihi
by His command
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
فِى in
in
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ surely (are) signs laāyātin
surely (are) signs
لِّقَوْمٍۢ for a people liqawmin
for a people
يَعْقِلُونَ who use reason yaʿqilūna
who use reason
١٢ (12)
(12)
And He has subjected for you the night and day and the sun and moon, and the stars are subjected by His command. Indeed in that are signs for a people who reason.
16:13
وَمَا And whatever wamā
And whatever
ذَرَأَ He multiplied dhara-a
He multiplied
لَكُمْ for you lakum
for you
فِى in
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
مُخْتَلِفًا (of) varying mukh'talifan
(of) varying
أَلْوَٰنُهُۥٓ ۗ colors alwānuhu
colors
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
فِى in
in
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَةًۭ surely (is) a sign laāyatan
surely (is) a sign
لِّقَوْمٍۢ for a people liqawmin
for a people
يَذَّكَّرُونَ who remember yadhakkarūna
who remember
١٣ (13)
(13)
And [He has subjected] whatever He multiplied for you on the earth of varying colors. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who remember.
16:14
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa
And He
ٱلَّذِى (is) the One Who alladhī
(is) the One Who
سَخَّرَ subjected sakhara
subjected
ٱلْبَحْرَ the sea l-baḥra
the sea
لِتَأْكُلُوا۟ for you to eat litakulū
for you to eat
مِنْهُ from it min'hu
from it
لَحْمًۭا meat laḥman
meat
طَرِيًّۭا fresh ṭariyyan
fresh
وَتَسْتَخْرِجُوا۟ and that you bring forth watastakhrijū
and that you bring forth
مِنْهُ from it min'hu
from it
حِلْيَةًۭ ornaments ḥil'yatan
ornaments
تَلْبَسُونَهَا (that) you wear them talbasūnahā
(that) you wear them
وَتَرَى And you see watarā
And you see
ٱلْفُلْكَ the ships l-ful'ka
the ships
مَوَاخِرَ ploughing mawākhira
ploughing
فِيهِ through it fīhi
through it
وَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟ and that you may seek walitabtaghū
and that you may seek
مِن of min
of
فَضْلِهِۦ His Bounty faḍlihi
His Bounty
وَلَعَلَّكُمْ and that you may walaʿallakum
and that you may
تَشْكُرُونَ (be) grateful tashkurūna
(be) grateful
١٤ (14)
(14)
And it is He who subjected the sea for you to eat from it tender meat and to extract from it ornaments which you wear. And you see the ships plowing through it, and [He subjected it] that you may seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.
16:15
وَأَلْقَىٰ And He has cast wa-alqā
And He has cast
فِى in
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
رَوَٰسِىَ firm mountains rawāsiya
firm mountains
أَن lest an
lest
تَمِيدَ it should shake tamīda
it should shake
بِكُمْ with you bikum
with you
وَأَنْهَـٰرًۭا and rivers wa-anhāran
and rivers
وَسُبُلًۭا and roads wasubulan
and roads
لَّعَلَّكُمْ so that you may laʿallakum
so that you may
تَهْتَدُونَ be guided tahtadūna
be guided
١٥ (15)
(15)
And He has cast into the earth firmly set mountains, lest it shift with you, and [made] rivers and roads, that you may be guided,
16:16
وَعَلَـٰمَـٰتٍۢ ۚ And landmarks waʿalāmātin
And landmarks
وَبِٱلنَّجْمِ And by the stars wabil-najmi
And by the stars
هُمْ they hum
they
يَهْتَدُونَ guide themselves yahtadūna
guide themselves
١٦ (16)
(16)
And landmarks. And by the stars they are [also] guided.
16:17
أَفَمَن Then is He Who afaman
Then is He Who
يَخْلُقُ creates yakhluqu
creates
كَمَن like one who kaman
like one who
لَّا (does) not
(does) not
يَخْلُقُ ۗ create yakhluqu
create
أَفَلَا Then will you not afalā
Then will you not
تَذَكَّرُونَ remember tadhakkarūna
remember
١٧ (17)
(17)
Then is He who creates like one who does not create? So will you not be reminded?
16:18
وَإِن And if wa-in
And if
تَعُدُّوا۟ you should count taʿuddū
you should count
نِعْمَةَ the Favors of Allah niʿ'mata
the Favors of Allah
ٱللَّهِ the Favors of Allah l-lahi
the Favors of Allah
لَا not
not
تُحْصُوهَآ ۗ you could enumerate them tuḥ'ṣūhā
you could enumerate them
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
لَغَفُورٌۭ (is) Oft-Forgiving laghafūrun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۭ Most Merciful raḥīmun
Most Merciful
١٨ (18)
(18)
And if you should count the favors of Allāh, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
16:19
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
يَعْلَمُ knows yaʿlamu
knows
مَا what
what
تُسِرُّونَ you conceal tusirrūna
you conceal
وَمَا and what wamā
and what
تُعْلِنُونَ you reveal tuʿ'linūna
you reveal
١٩ (19)
(19)
And Allāh knows what you conceal and what you declare.
16:20
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those whom wa-alladhīna
And those whom
يَدْعُونَ they invoke yadʿūna
they invoke
مِن besides min
besides
دُونِ besides dūni
besides
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
لَا not
not
يَخْلُقُونَ they create yakhluqūna
they create
شَيْـًۭٔا anything shayan
anything
وَهُمْ but (are) themselves wahum
but (are) themselves
يُخْلَقُونَ created yukh'laqūna
created
٢٠ (20)
(20)
And those they invoke other than Allāh create nothing, and they [themselves] are created.
16:21
أَمْوَٰتٌ (They are) dead amwātun
(They are) dead
غَيْرُ not alive ghayru
not alive
أَحْيَآءٍۢ ۖ not alive aḥyāin
not alive
وَمَا And not wamā
And not
يَشْعُرُونَ they perceive yashʿurūna
they perceive
أَيَّانَ when ayyāna
when
يُبْعَثُونَ they will be resurrected yub'ʿathūna
they will be resurrected
٢١ (21)
(21)
They are [in fact] dead, not alive, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected.
16:22
إِلَـٰهُكُمْ Your god ilāhukum
Your god
إِلَـٰهٌۭ (is) God ilāhun
(is) God
وَٰحِدٌۭ ۚ One wāḥidun
One
فَٱلَّذِينَ But those who fa-alladhīna
But those who
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ believe yu'minūna
believe
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ in the Hereafter bil-ākhirati
in the Hereafter
قُلُوبُهُم their hearts qulūbuhum
their hearts
مُّنكِرَةٌۭ refuse munkiratun
refuse
وَهُم and they wahum
and they
مُّسْتَكْبِرُونَ (are) arrogant mus'takbirūna
(are) arrogant
٢٢ (22)
(22)
Your god is one God. But those who do not believe in the Hereafter - their hearts are disapproving, and they are arrogant.
16:23
لَا No doubt
No doubt
جَرَمَ No doubt jarama
No doubt
أَنَّ that anna
that
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
يَعْلَمُ knows yaʿlamu
knows
مَا what
what
يُسِرُّونَ they conceal yusirrūna
they conceal
وَمَا and what wamā
and what
يُعْلِنُونَ ۚ they reveal yuʿ'linūna
they reveal
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, He innahu
Indeed, He
لَا (does) not
(does) not
يُحِبُّ love yuḥibbu
love
ٱلْمُسْتَكْبِرِينَ the arrogant ones l-mus'takbirīna
the arrogant ones
٢٣ (23)
(23)
Assuredly, Allāh knows what they conceal and what they declare. Indeed, He does not like the arrogant.
16:24
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
قِيلَ it is said qīla
it is said
لَهُم to them lahum
to them
مَّاذَآ What mādhā
What
أَنزَلَ has your Lord sent down anzala
has your Lord sent down
رَبُّكُمْ ۙ has your Lord sent down rabbukum
has your Lord sent down
قَالُوٓا۟ They say qālū
They say
أَسَـٰطِيرُ Tales asāṭīru
Tales
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ (of) the ancient l-awalīna
(of) the ancient
٢٤ (24)
(24)
And when it is said to them, "What has your Lord sent down?" they say, "Legends of the former peoples,"
16:25
لِيَحْمِلُوٓا۟ That they may bear liyaḥmilū
That they may bear
أَوْزَارَهُمْ their own burdens awzārahum
their own burdens
كَامِلَةًۭ (in) full kāmilatan
(in) full
يَوْمَ on (the) Day yawma
on (the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ ۙ (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
وَمِنْ and of wamin
and of
أَوْزَارِ the burdens awzāri
the burdens
ٱلَّذِينَ (of) those whom alladhīna
(of) those whom
يُضِلُّونَهُم they misled [them] yuḍillūnahum
they misled [them]
بِغَيْرِ without bighayri
without
عِلْمٍ ۗ knowledge ʿil'min
knowledge
أَلَا Unquestionably alā
Unquestionably
سَآءَ evil sāa
evil
مَا (is) what
(is) what
يَزِرُونَ they will bear yazirūna
they will bear
٢٥ (25)
(25)
That they may bear their own burdens [i.e., sins] in full on the Day of Resurrection and some of the burdens of those whom they misguide without [i.e., by lack of] knowledge. Unquestionably, evil is that which they bear.
16:26
قَدْ Verily qad
Verily
مَكَرَ plotted makara
plotted
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
مِن (were) before them min
(were) before them
قَبْلِهِمْ (were) before them qablihim
(were) before them
فَأَتَى but Allah came fa-atā
but Allah came
ٱللَّهُ but Allah came l-lahu
but Allah came
بُنْيَـٰنَهُم (at) their building bun'yānahum
(at) their building
مِّنَ from mina
from
ٱلْقَوَاعِدِ the foundations l-qawāʿidi
the foundations
فَخَرَّ so fell fakharra
so fell
عَلَيْهِمُ upon them ʿalayhimu
upon them
ٱلسَّقْفُ the roof l-saqfu
the roof
مِن from min
from
فَوْقِهِمْ above them fawqihim
above them
وَأَتَىٰهُمُ and came to them wa-atāhumu
and came to them
ٱلْعَذَابُ the punishment l-ʿadhābu
the punishment
مِنْ from min
from
حَيْثُ where ḥaythu
where
لَا they (did) not perceive
they (did) not perceive
يَشْعُرُونَ they (did) not perceive yashʿurūna
they (did) not perceive
٢٦ (26)
(26)
Those before them had already plotted, but Allāh came at [i.e., uprooted] their building from the foundations, so the roof fell upon them from above them, and the punishment came to them from where they did not perceive.
16:27
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
يَوْمَ (on) the Day yawma
(on) the Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
يُخْزِيهِمْ He will disgrace them yukh'zīhim
He will disgrace them
وَيَقُولُ and say wayaqūlu
and say
أَيْنَ Where ayna
Where
شُرَكَآءِىَ (are) My partners shurakāiya
(are) My partners
ٱلَّذِينَ those (for) whom alladhīna
those (for) whom
كُنتُمْ you used (to) kuntum
you used (to)
تُشَـٰٓقُّونَ oppose tushāqqūna
oppose
فِيهِمْ ۚ [in them] fīhim
[in them]
قَالَ Will say qāla
Will say
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
أُوتُوا۟ were given ūtū
were given
ٱلْعِلْمَ the knowledge l-ʿil'ma
the knowledge
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلْخِزْىَ the disgrace l-khiz'ya
the disgrace
ٱلْيَوْمَ this Day l-yawma
this Day
وَٱلسُّوٓءَ and evil wal-sūa
and evil
عَلَى (are) upon ʿalā
(are) upon
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ the disbelievers l-kāfirīna
the disbelievers
٢٧ (27)
(27)
Then on the Day of Resurrection He will disgrace them and say, "Where are My 'partners' for whom you used to oppose [the believers]?" Those who were given knowledge will say, "Indeed disgrace, this Day, and evil are upon the disbelievers" -
16:28
ٱلَّذِينَ Those whom alladhīna
Those whom
تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ take them in death tatawaffāhumu
take them in death
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ the Angels l-malāikatu
the Angels
ظَالِمِىٓ (while) wronging ẓālimī
(while) wronging
أَنفُسِهِمْ ۖ themselves anfusihim
themselves
فَأَلْقَوُا۟ then they would offer fa-alqawū
then they would offer
ٱلسَّلَمَ the submission l-salama
the submission
مَا Not
Not
كُنَّا we were kunnā
we were
نَعْمَلُ doing naʿmalu
doing
مِن any min
any
سُوٓءٍۭ ۚ evil sūin
evil
بَلَىٰٓ Nay balā
Nay
إِنَّ indeed inna
indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
عَلِيمٌۢ (is) All-Knower ʿalīmun
(is) All-Knower
بِمَا of what bimā
of what
كُنتُمْ you used (to) kuntum
you used (to)
تَعْمَلُونَ do taʿmalūna
do
٢٨ (28)
(28)
The ones whom the angels take in death [while] wronging themselves, and [who] then offer submission, [saying], "We were not doing any evil." But, yes! Indeed, Allāh is Knowing of what you used to do.
16:29
فَٱدْخُلُوٓا۟ So enter fa-ud'khulū
So enter
أَبْوَٰبَ (the) gates abwāba
(the) gates
جَهَنَّمَ (of) Hell jahannama
(of) Hell
خَـٰلِدِينَ (to) abide forever khālidīna
(to) abide forever
فِيهَا ۖ in it fīhā
in it
فَلَبِئْسَ Surely, wretched falabi'sa
Surely, wretched
مَثْوَى (is the) abode mathwā
(is the) abode
ٱلْمُتَكَبِّرِينَ (of) the arrogant l-mutakabirīna
(of) the arrogant
٢٩ (29)
(29)
So enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and how wretched is the residence of the arrogant.
16:30
۞ وَقِيلَ And it will be said waqīla
And it will be said
لِلَّذِينَ to those who lilladhīna
to those who
ٱتَّقَوْا۟ fear Allah ittaqaw
fear Allah
مَاذَآ What mādhā
What
أَنزَلَ has your Lord sent down anzala
has your Lord sent down
رَبُّكُمْ ۚ has your Lord sent down rabbukum
has your Lord sent down
قَالُوا۟ They will say qālū
They will say
خَيْرًۭا ۗ Good khayran
Good
لِّلَّذِينَ For those who lilladhīna
For those who
أَحْسَنُوا۟ do good aḥsanū
do good
فِى in
in
هَـٰذِهِ this hādhihi
this
ٱلدُّنْيَا world l-dun'yā
world
حَسَنَةٌۭ ۚ (is) a good ḥasanatun
(is) a good
وَلَدَارُ and the home waladāru
and the home
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ of the Hereafter l-ākhirati
of the Hereafter
خَيْرٌۭ ۚ (is) better khayrun
(is) better
وَلَنِعْمَ And surely excellent walaniʿ'ma
And surely excellent
دَارُ (is) the home dāru
(is) the home
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ (of) the righteous l-mutaqīna
(of) the righteous
٣٠ (30)
(30)
And it will be said to those who feared Allāh, "What did your Lord send down?" They will say, "[That which is] good." For those who do good in this world is good; and the home of the Hereafter is better. And how excellent is the home of the righteous -
16:31
جَنَّـٰتُ Gardens jannātu
Gardens
عَدْنٍۢ (of) Eden ʿadnin
(of) Eden
يَدْخُلُونَهَا which they will enter yadkhulūnahā
which they will enter
تَجْرِى flows tajrī
flows
مِن from min
from
تَحْتِهَا underneath them taḥtihā
underneath them
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ ۖ the rivers l-anhāru
the rivers
لَهُمْ For them lahum
For them
فِيهَا therein fīhā
therein
مَا (will be) whatever
(will be) whatever
يَشَآءُونَ ۚ they wish yashāūna
they wish
كَذَٰلِكَ Thus kadhālika
Thus
يَجْزِى Allah rewards yajzī
Allah rewards
ٱللَّهُ Allah rewards l-lahu
Allah rewards
ٱلْمُتَّقِينَ the righteous l-mutaqīna
the righteous
٣١ (31)
(31)
Gardens of perpetual residence, which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow. They will have therein whatever they wish. Thus does Allāh reward the righteous -
16:32
ٱلَّذِينَ Those whom alladhīna
Those whom
تَتَوَفَّىٰهُمُ take them in death tatawaffāhumu
take them in death
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ the Angels l-malāikatu
the Angels
طَيِّبِينَ ۙ (when they are) pure ṭayyibīna
(when they are) pure
يَقُولُونَ saying yaqūlūna
saying
سَلَـٰمٌ Peace salāmun
Peace
عَلَيْكُمُ (be) upon you ʿalaykumu
(be) upon you
ٱدْخُلُوا۟ Enter ud'khulū
Enter
ٱلْجَنَّةَ Paradise l-janata
Paradise
بِمَا for what bimā
for what
كُنتُمْ you used (to) kuntum
you used (to)
تَعْمَلُونَ do taʿmalūna
do
٣٢ (32)
(32)
The ones whom the angels take in death, [being] good and pure; [the angels] will say, "Peace be upon you. Enter Paradise for what you used to do."
16:33
هَلْ Do hal
Do
يَنظُرُونَ they wait yanẓurūna
they wait
إِلَّآ except illā
except
أَن that an
that
تَأْتِيَهُمُ (should) come to them tatiyahumu
(should) come to them
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ the Angels l-malāikatu
the Angels
أَوْ or aw
or
يَأْتِىَ (should) come yatiya
(should) come
أَمْرُ (the) Command amru
(the) Command
رَبِّكَ ۚ (of) your Lord rabbika
(of) your Lord
كَذَٰلِكَ Thus kadhālika
Thus
فَعَلَ did faʿala
did
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
مِن (were) before them min
(were) before them
قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ (were) before them qablihim
(were) before them
وَمَا And not wamā
And not
ظَلَمَهُمُ wronged them ẓalamahumu
wronged them
ٱللَّهُ Allah l-lahu
Allah
وَلَـٰكِن but walākin
but
كَانُوٓا۟ they were kānū
they were
أَنفُسَهُمْ themselves anfusahum
themselves
يَظْلِمُونَ wronging yaẓlimūna
wronging
٣٣ (33)
(33)
Do they [i.e., the disbelievers] await except that the angels should come to them or there comes the command of your Lord? Thus did those do before them. And Allāh wronged them not, but they had been wronging themselves.
16:34
فَأَصَابَهُمْ Then struck them fa-aṣābahum
Then struck them
سَيِّـَٔاتُ (the) evil (results) sayyiātu
(the) evil (results)
مَا (of) what
(of) what
عَمِلُوا۟ they did ʿamilū
they did
وَحَاقَ and surrounded waḥāqa
and surrounded
بِهِم them bihim
them
مَّا what
what
كَانُوا۟ they used (to) kānū
they used (to)
بِهِۦ [of it] bihi
[of it]
يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ mock yastahziūna
mock
٣٤ (34)
(34)
So they were struck by the evil consequences of what they did and were enveloped by what they used to ridicule.
16:35
وَقَالَ And said waqāla
And said
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
أَشْرَكُوا۟ associate partners (with Allah) ashrakū
associate partners (with Allah)
لَوْ If law
If
شَآءَ Allah (had) willed shāa
Allah (had) willed
ٱللَّهُ Allah (had) willed l-lahu
Allah (had) willed
مَا not
not
عَبَدْنَا we (would) have worshipped ʿabadnā
we (would) have worshipped
مِن other than Him min
other than Him
دُونِهِۦ other than Him dūnihi
other than Him
مِن any min
any
شَىْءٍۢ thing shayin
thing
نَّحْنُ we naḥnu
we
وَلَآ and not walā
and not
ءَابَآؤُنَا our forefathers ābāunā
our forefathers
وَلَا and not walā
and not
حَرَّمْنَا we (would) have forbidden ḥarramnā
we (would) have forbidden
مِن other than Him min
other than Him
دُونِهِۦ other than Him dūnihi
other than Him
مِن anything min
anything
شَىْءٍۢ ۚ anything shayin
anything
كَذَٰلِكَ Thus kadhālika
Thus
فَعَلَ did faʿala
did
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
مِن (were) before them min
(were) before them
قَبْلِهِمْ ۚ (were) before them qablihim
(were) before them
فَهَلْ Then is (there) fahal
Then is (there)
عَلَى on ʿalā
on
ٱلرُّسُلِ the messengers l-rusuli
the messengers
إِلَّا except illā
except
ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ the conveyance l-balāghu
the conveyance
ٱلْمُبِينُ clear l-mubīnu
clear
٣٥ (35)
(35)
And those who associate others with Allāh say, "If Allāh had willed, we would not have worshipped anything other than Him, neither we nor our fathers, nor would we have forbidden anything through other than Him." Thus did those do before them. So is there upon the messengers except [the duty of] clear notification?
16:36
وَلَقَدْ And certainly walaqad
And certainly
بَعَثْنَا We sent baʿathnā
We sent
فِى into
into
كُلِّ every kulli
every
أُمَّةٍۢ nation ummatin
nation
رَّسُولًا a Messenger rasūlan
a Messenger
أَنِ that ani
that
ٱعْبُدُوا۟ Worship uʿ'budū
Worship
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
وَٱجْتَنِبُوا۟ and avoid wa-ij'tanibū
and avoid
ٱلطَّـٰغُوتَ ۖ the false deities l-ṭāghūta
the false deities
فَمِنْهُم Then among them famin'hum
Then among them
مَّنْ (were some) whom man
(were some) whom
هَدَى Allah guided hadā
Allah guided
ٱللَّهُ Allah guided l-lahu
Allah guided
وَمِنْهُم and among them wamin'hum
and among them
مَّنْ (were) some man
(were) some
حَقَّتْ was justified ḥaqqat
was justified
عَلَيْهِ on them ʿalayhi
on them
ٱلضَّلَـٰلَةُ ۚ the straying l-ḍalālatu
the straying
فَسِيرُوا۟ So travel fasīrū
So travel
فِى in
in
ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
فَٱنظُرُوا۟ and see fa-unẓurū
and see
كَيْفَ how kayfa
how
كَانَ was kāna
was
عَـٰقِبَةُ the end ʿāqibatu
the end
ٱلْمُكَذِّبِينَ (of) the deniers l-mukadhibīna
(of) the deniers
٣٦ (36)
(36)
And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], "Worship Allāh and avoid ṭāghūt."1 And among them were those whom Allāh guided, and among them were those upon whom error was [deservedly] decreed. So proceed [i.e., travel] through the earth and observe how was the end of the deniers.
16:37
إِن If in
If
تَحْرِصْ you desire taḥriṣ
you desire
عَلَىٰ [for] ʿalā
[for]
هُدَىٰهُمْ their guidance hudāhum
their guidance
فَإِنَّ then indeed fa-inna
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
لَا (will) not
(will) not
يَهْدِى guide yahdī
guide
مَن whom man
whom
يُضِلُّ ۖ He lets go astray yuḍillu
He lets go astray
وَمَا and not (are) wamā
and not (are)
لَهُم for them lahum
for them
مِّن any min
any
نَّـٰصِرِينَ helpers nāṣirīna
helpers
٣٧ (37)
(37)
[Even] if you should strive for their guidance, [O Muḥammad], indeed, Allāh does not guide those He sends astray, and they will have no helpers.
16:38
وَأَقْسَمُوا۟ And they swear wa-aqsamū
And they swear
بِٱللَّهِ by Allah bil-lahi
by Allah
جَهْدَ strongest jahda
strongest
أَيْمَـٰنِهِمْ ۙ (of) their oaths aymānihim
(of) their oaths
لَا Allah will not resurrect
Allah will not resurrect
يَبْعَثُ Allah will not resurrect yabʿathu
Allah will not resurrect
ٱللَّهُ Allah will not resurrect l-lahu
Allah will not resurrect
مَن (one) who man
(one) who
يَمُوتُ ۚ dies yamūtu
dies
بَلَىٰ Nay balā
Nay
وَعْدًا (it is) a promise waʿdan
(it is) a promise
عَلَيْهِ upon Him ʿalayhi
upon Him
حَقًّۭا (in) truth ḥaqqan
(in) truth
وَلَـٰكِنَّ but walākinna
but
أَكْثَرَ most akthara
most
ٱلنَّاسِ (of) the mankind l-nāsi
(of) the mankind
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ know yaʿlamūna
know
٣٨ (38)
(38)
And they swear by Allāh their strongest oaths [that] Allāh will not resurrect one who dies. But yes - [it is] a true promise [binding] upon Him, but most of the people do not know.
16:39
لِيُبَيِّنَ That He will make clear liyubayyina
That He will make clear
لَهُمُ to them lahumu
to them
ٱلَّذِى that alladhī
that
يَخْتَلِفُونَ they differ yakhtalifūna
they differ
فِيهِ wherein fīhi
wherein
وَلِيَعْلَمَ and that may know waliyaʿlama
and that may know
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوٓا۟ disbelieved kafarū
disbelieved
أَنَّهُمْ that they annahum
that they
كَانُوا۟ were kānū
were
كَـٰذِبِينَ liars kādhibīna
liars
٣٩ (39)
(39)
[It is] so He will make clear to them [the truth of] that wherein they differ and so those who have disbelieved may know that they were liars.
16:40
إِنَّمَا Only innamā
Only
قَوْلُنَا Our Word qawlunā
Our Word
لِشَىْءٍ to a thing lishayin
to a thing
إِذَآ when idhā
when
أَرَدْنَـٰهُ We intend it aradnāhu
We intend it
أَن (is) that an
(is) that
نَّقُولَ We say naqūla
We say
لَهُۥ to it lahu
to it
كُن Be kun
Be
فَيَكُونُ and it is fayakūnu
and it is
٤٠ (40)
(40)
Indeed, Our word to a thing when We intend it is but that We say to it, "Be," and it is.
16:41
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna
And those who
هَاجَرُوا۟ emigrated hājarū
emigrated
فِى in (the way)
in (the way)
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
مِنۢ after min
after
بَعْدِ after baʿdi
after
مَا [what]
[what]
ظُلِمُوا۟ they were wronged ẓulimū
they were wronged
لَنُبَوِّئَنَّهُمْ surely We will give them position lanubawwi-annahum
surely We will give them position
فِى in
in
ٱلدُّنْيَا the world l-dun'yā
the world
حَسَنَةًۭ ۖ good ḥasanatan
good
وَلَأَجْرُ but surely the reward wala-ajru
but surely the reward
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ (of) the Hereafter l-ākhirati
(of) the Hereafter
أَكْبَرُ ۚ (is) greater akbaru
(is) greater
لَوْ if law
if
كَانُوا۟ they kānū
they
يَعْلَمُونَ know yaʿlamūna
know
٤١ (41)
(41)
And those who emigrated for [the cause of] Allāh after they had been wronged - We will surely settle them in this world in a good place; but the reward of the Hereafter is greater, if only they could know.
16:42
ٱلَّذِينَ Those who alladhīna
Those who
صَبَرُوا۟ (are) patient ṣabarū
(are) patient
وَعَلَىٰ and on waʿalā
and on
رَبِّهِمْ their Lord rabbihim
their Lord
يَتَوَكَّلُونَ they put their trust yatawakkalūna
they put their trust
٤٢ (42)
(42)
[They are] those who endured patiently and upon their Lord relied.
16:43
وَمَآ And not wamā
And not
أَرْسَلْنَا We sent arsalnā
We sent
مِن before you min
before you
قَبْلِكَ before you qablika
before you
إِلَّا except illā
except
رِجَالًۭا men rijālan
men
نُّوحِىٓ We revealed nūḥī
We revealed
إِلَيْهِمْ ۚ to them ilayhim
to them
فَسْـَٔلُوٓا۟ so ask fasalū
so ask
أَهْلَ (the) people ahla
(the) people
ٱلذِّكْرِ (of) the Reminder l-dhik'ri
(of) the Reminder
إِن if in
if
كُنتُمْ you kuntum
you
لَا (do) not
(do) not
تَعْلَمُونَ know taʿlamūna
know
٤٣ (43)
(43)
And We sent not before you except men to whom We revealed [Our message]. So ask the people of the message [i.e., former scriptures] if you do not know.
16:44
بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ With the clear proofs bil-bayināti
With the clear proofs
وَٱلزُّبُرِ ۗ and the Books wal-zuburi
and the Books
وَأَنزَلْنَآ And We sent down wa-anzalnā
And We sent down
إِلَيْكَ to you ilayka
to you
ٱلذِّكْرَ the Remembrance l-dhik'ra
the Remembrance
لِتُبَيِّنَ that you may make clear litubayyina
that you may make clear
لِلنَّاسِ to the mankind lilnnāsi
to the mankind
مَا what
what
نُزِّلَ has been sent down nuzzila
has been sent down
إِلَيْهِمْ to them ilayhim
to them
وَلَعَلَّهُمْ and that they may walaʿallahum
and that they may
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ reflect yatafakkarūna
reflect
٤٤ (44)
(44)
[We sent them] with clear proofs and written ordinances. And We revealed to you the message [i.e., the Qur’ān] that you may make clear to the people what was sent down to them and that they might give thought.
16:45
أَفَأَمِنَ Do then feel secure afa-amina
Do then feel secure
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
مَكَرُوا۟ plotted makarū
plotted
ٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِ the evil deeds l-sayiāti
the evil deeds
أَن that an
that
يَخْسِفَ Allah will cave yakhsifa
Allah will cave
ٱللَّهُ Allah will cave l-lahu
Allah will cave
بِهِمُ with them bihimu
with them
ٱلْأَرْضَ the earth l-arḍa
the earth
أَوْ or aw
or
يَأْتِيَهُمُ will come to them yatiyahumu
will come to them
ٱلْعَذَابُ the punishment l-ʿadhābu
the punishment
مِنْ from min
from
حَيْثُ where ḥaythu
where
لَا not
not
يَشْعُرُونَ they perceive yashʿurūna
they perceive
٤٥ (45)
(45)
Then, do those who have planned evil deeds feel secure that Allāh will not cause the earth to swallow them or that the punishment will not come upon them from where they do not perceive?
16:46
أَوْ Or aw
Or
يَأْخُذَهُمْ that He may seize them yakhudhahum
that He may seize them
فِى in
in
تَقَلُّبِهِمْ their going to and fro taqallubihim
their going to and fro
فَمَا then not famā
then not
هُم they hum
they
بِمُعْجِزِينَ will be able to escape bimuʿ'jizīna
will be able to escape
٤٦ (46)
(46)
Or that He would not seize them during their [usual] activity, and they could not cause failure [i.e., escape from Him]?
16:47
أَوْ Or aw
Or
يَأْخُذَهُمْ that He may seize them yakhudhahum
that He may seize them
عَلَىٰ with ʿalā
with
تَخَوُّفٍۢ a gradual wasting takhawwufin
a gradual wasting
فَإِنَّ But indeed fa-inna
But indeed
رَبَّكُمْ your Lord rabbakum
your Lord
لَرَءُوفٌۭ (is) surely Full of Kindness laraūfun
(is) surely Full of Kindness
رَّحِيمٌ Most Merciful raḥīmun
Most Merciful
٤٧ (47)
(47)
Or that He would not seize them gradually [in a state of dread]? But indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful.
16:48
أَوَلَمْ Have not awalam
Have not
يَرَوْا۟ they seen yaraw
they seen
إِلَىٰ [towards] ilā
[towards]
مَا what
what
خَلَقَ Allah has created khalaqa
Allah has created
ٱللَّهُ Allah has created l-lahu
Allah has created
مِن from min
from
شَىْءٍۢ a thing shayin
a thing
يَتَفَيَّؤُا۟ Incline yatafayya-u
Incline
ظِلَـٰلُهُۥ their shadows ẓilāluhu
their shadows
عَنِ to ʿani
to
ٱلْيَمِينِ the right l-yamīni
the right
وَٱلشَّمَآئِلِ and to the left wal-shamāili
and to the left
سُجَّدًۭا prostrating sujjadan
prostrating
لِّلَّهِ to Allah lillahi
to Allah
وَهُمْ while they wahum
while they
دَٰخِرُونَ (are) humble dākhirūna
(are) humble
٤٨ (48)
(48)
Have they not considered what things Allāh has created? Their shadows incline to the right and to the left, prostrating to Allāh, while they [i.e., those creations] are humble.
16:49
وَلِلَّهِ And to Allah walillahi
And to Allah
يَسْجُدُ prostrate yasjudu
prostrate
مَا whatever
whatever
فِى (is) in
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَمَا and whatever wamā
and whatever
فِى (is) in
(is) in
ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
مِن of min
of
دَآبَّةٍۢ moving creatures dābbatin
moving creatures
وَٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ and the Angels wal-malāikatu
and the Angels
وَهُمْ and they wahum
and they
لَا (are) not
(are) not
يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ arrogant yastakbirūna
arrogant
٤٩ (49)
(49)
And to Allāh prostrates whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth of creatures, and the angels [as well], and they are not arrogant.
16:50
يَخَافُونَ They fear yakhāfūna
They fear
رَبَّهُم their Lord rabbahum
their Lord
مِّن above them min
above them
فَوْقِهِمْ above them fawqihim
above them
وَيَفْعَلُونَ and they do wayafʿalūna
and they do
مَا what
what
يُؤْمَرُونَ ۩ they are commanded yu'marūna
they are commanded
٥٠ (50)
(50)
They fear their Lord above them, and they do what they are commanded.
16:51
۞ وَقَالَ And Allah has said waqāla
And Allah has said
ٱللَّهُ And Allah has said l-lahu
And Allah has said
لَا (Do) not
(Do) not
تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ take tattakhidhū
take
إِلَـٰهَيْنِ [two] gods ilāhayni
[two] gods
ٱثْنَيْنِ ۖ two ith'nayni
two
إِنَّمَا only innamā
only
هُوَ He huwa
He
إِلَـٰهٌۭ (is) God ilāhun
(is) God
وَٰحِدٌۭ ۖ One wāḥidun
One
فَإِيَّـٰىَ so Me Alone fa-iyyāya
so Me Alone
فَٱرْهَبُونِ you fear [Me] fa-ir'habūni
you fear [Me]
٥١ (51)
(51)
And Allāh has said, "Do not take for yourselves two deities. He [i.e., Allāh] is but one God, so fear only Me."
16:52
وَلَهُۥ And to Him (belongs) walahu
And to Him (belongs)
مَا whatever
whatever
فِى (is) in
(is) in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَلَهُ and to Him walahu
and to Him
ٱلدِّينُ (is due) the worship l-dīnu
(is due) the worship
وَاصِبًا ۚ constantly wāṣiban
constantly
أَفَغَيْرَ Then is it other (than) afaghayra
Then is it other (than)
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
تَتَّقُونَ you fear tattaqūna
you fear
٥٢ (52)
(52)
And to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and the earth, and to Him is [due] worship constantly. Then is it other than Allāh that you fear?
16:53
وَمَا And whatever wamā
And whatever
بِكُم you have bikum
you have
مِّن of min
of
نِّعْمَةٍۢ favor niʿ'matin
favor
فَمِنَ (is) from famina
(is) from
ٱللَّهِ ۖ Allah l-lahi
Allah
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
إِذَا when idhā
when
مَسَّكُمُ touches you massakumu
touches you
ٱلضُّرُّ the adversity l-ḍuru
the adversity
فَإِلَيْهِ then to Him fa-ilayhi
then to Him
تَجْـَٔرُونَ you cry for help tajarūna
you cry for help
٥٣ (53)
(53)
And whatever you have of favor - it is from Allāh. Then when adversity touches you, to Him you cry for help.
16:54
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
إِذَا when idhā
when
كَشَفَ He removes kashafa
He removes
ٱلضُّرَّ the adversity l-ḍura
the adversity
عَنكُمْ from you ʿankum
from you
إِذَا behold idhā
behold
فَرِيقٌۭ A group farīqun
A group
مِّنكُم of you minkum
of you
بِرَبِّهِمْ with their Lord birabbihim
with their Lord
يُشْرِكُونَ associate others yush'rikūna
associate others
٥٤ (54)
(54)
Then when He removes the adversity from you, at once a party of you associates others with their Lord
16:55
لِيَكْفُرُوا۟ So as to deny liyakfurū
So as to deny
بِمَآ that which bimā
that which
ءَاتَيْنَـٰهُمْ ۚ We have given them ātaynāhum
We have given them
فَتَمَتَّعُوا۟ ۖ Then enjoy yourselves fatamattaʿū
Then enjoy yourselves
فَسَوْفَ soon fasawfa
soon
تَعْلَمُونَ you will know taʿlamūna
you will know
٥٥ (55)
(55)
So they will deny what We have given them. Then enjoy yourselves, for you are going to know.
16:56
وَيَجْعَلُونَ And they assign wayajʿalūna
And they assign
لِمَا to what limā
to what
لَا not
not
يَعْلَمُونَ they know yaʿlamūna
they know
نَصِيبًۭا a portion naṣīban
a portion
مِّمَّا of what mimmā
of what
رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ ۗ We have provided them razaqnāhum
We have provided them
تَٱللَّهِ By Allah tal-lahi
By Allah
لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ surely you will be asked latus'alunna
surely you will be asked
عَمَّا about what ʿammā
about what
كُنتُمْ you used (to) kuntum
you used (to)
تَفْتَرُونَ invent taftarūna
invent
٥٦ (56)
(56)
And they assign to what they do not know [i.e., false deities] a portion of that which We have provided them. By Allāh, you will surely be questioned about what you used to invent.
16:57
وَيَجْعَلُونَ And they assign wayajʿalūna
And they assign
لِلَّهِ to Allah lillahi
to Allah
ٱلْبَنَـٰتِ daughters l-banāti
daughters
سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ ۙ Glory be to Him sub'ḥānahu
Glory be to Him
وَلَهُم And for them walahum
And for them
مَّا (is) what
(is) what
يَشْتَهُونَ they desire yashtahūna
they desire
٥٧ (57)
(57)
And they attribute to Allāh daughters - exalted is He - and for them is what they desire [i.e., sons].
16:58
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
بُشِّرَ is given good news bushira
is given good news
أَحَدُهُم (to) one of them aḥaduhum
(to) one of them
بِٱلْأُنثَىٰ of a female bil-unthā
of a female
ظَلَّ turns ẓalla
turns
وَجْهُهُۥ his face wajhuhu
his face
مُسْوَدًّۭا dark mus'waddan
dark
وَهُوَ and he wahuwa
and he
كَظِيمٌۭ suppresses grief kaẓīmun
suppresses grief
٥٨ (58)
(58)
And when one of them is informed of [the birth of] a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief.
16:59
يَتَوَٰرَىٰ He hides himself yatawārā
He hides himself
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلْقَوْمِ the people l-qawmi
the people
مِن (because) of min
(because) of
سُوٓءِ the evil sūi
the evil
مَا of what
of what
بُشِّرَ he has been given good news bushira
he has been given good news
بِهِۦٓ ۚ about bihi
about
أَيُمْسِكُهُۥ Should he keep it ayum'sikuhu
Should he keep it
عَلَىٰ in ʿalā
in
هُونٍ humiliation hūnin
humiliation
أَمْ or am
or
يَدُسُّهُۥ bury it yadussuhu
bury it
فِى in
in
ٱلتُّرَابِ ۗ the dust l-turābi
the dust
أَلَا Unquestionably alā
Unquestionably
سَآءَ evil sāa
evil
مَا (is) what
(is) what
يَحْكُمُونَ they decide yaḥkumūna
they decide
٥٩ (59)
(59)
He hides himself from the people because of the ill of which he has been informed. Should he keep it in humiliation or bury it in the ground? Unquestionably, evil is what they decide.
16:60
لِلَّذِينَ For those who lilladhīna
For those who
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ believe yu'minūna
believe
بِٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ in the Hereafter bil-ākhirati
in the Hereafter
مَثَلُ (is) a similitude mathalu
(is) a similitude
ٱلسَّوْءِ ۖ (of) the evil l-sawi
(of) the evil
وَلِلَّهِ and for Allah walillahi
and for Allah
ٱلْمَثَلُ (is) the similitude l-mathalu
(is) the similitude
ٱلْأَعْلَىٰ ۚ the Highest l-aʿlā
the Highest
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa
And He
ٱلْعَزِيزُ (is) the All-Mighty l-ʿazīzu
(is) the All-Mighty
ٱلْحَكِيمُ All-Wise l-ḥakīmu
All-Wise
٦٠ (60)
(60)
For those who do not believe in the Hereafter is the description [i.e., an attribute] of evil; and for Allāh is the highest attribute. And He is Exalted in Might, the Wise.
16:61
وَلَوْ And if walaw
And if
يُؤَاخِذُ Allah were to seize yuākhidhu
Allah were to seize
ٱللَّهُ Allah were to seize l-lahu
Allah were to seize
ٱلنَّاسَ the mankind l-nāsa
the mankind
بِظُلْمِهِم for their wrongdoing biẓul'mihim
for their wrongdoing
مَّا not
not
تَرَكَ He (would) have left taraka
He (would) have left
عَلَيْهَا upon it ʿalayhā
upon it
مِن any min
any
دَآبَّةٍۢ moving creature dābbatin
moving creature
وَلَـٰكِن but walākin
but
يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ He defers them yu-akhiruhum
He defers them
إِلَىٰٓ for ilā
for
أَجَلٍۢ a term ajalin
a term
مُّسَمًّۭى ۖ appointed musamman
appointed
فَإِذَا Then when fa-idhā
Then when
جَآءَ comes jāa
comes
أَجَلُهُمْ their terms ajaluhum
their terms
لَا not
not
يَسْتَـْٔخِرُونَ they (will) remain behind yastakhirūna
they (will) remain behind
سَاعَةًۭ ۖ an hour sāʿatan
an hour
وَلَا and not walā
and not
يَسْتَقْدِمُونَ they can advance (it) yastaqdimūna
they can advance (it)
٦١ (61)
(61)
And if Allāh were to impose blame on the people for their wrongdoing, He would not have left upon it [i.e., the earth] any creature, but He defers them for a specified term. And when their term has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it].
16:62
وَيَجْعَلُونَ And they assign wayajʿalūna
And they assign
لِلَّهِ to Allah lillahi
to Allah
مَا what
what
يَكْرَهُونَ they dislike yakrahūna
they dislike
وَتَصِفُ and assert wataṣifu
and assert
أَلْسِنَتُهُمُ their tongues alsinatuhumu
their tongues
ٱلْكَذِبَ the lie l-kadhiba
the lie
أَنَّ that anna
that
لَهُمُ for them lahumu
for them
ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۖ (is) the best l-ḥus'nā
(is) the best
لَا No
No
جَرَمَ doubt jarama
doubt
أَنَّ that anna
that
لَهُمُ for them lahumu
for them
ٱلنَّارَ (is) the Fire l-nāra
(is) the Fire
وَأَنَّهُم and that they wa-annahum
and that they
مُّفْرَطُونَ (will) be abandoned muf'raṭūna
(will) be abandoned
٦٢ (62)
(62)
And they attribute to Allāh that which they dislike [i.e., daughters], and their tongues assert the lie that they will have the best [from Him]. Assuredly, they will have the Fire, and they will be [therein] neglected.
16:63
تَٱللَّهِ By Allah tal-lahi
By Allah
لَقَدْ certainly laqad
certainly
أَرْسَلْنَآ We have sent arsalnā
We have sent
إِلَىٰٓ to ilā
to
أُمَمٍۢ nations umamin
nations
مِّن before you min
before you
قَبْلِكَ before you qablika
before you
فَزَيَّنَ but made fair-seeming fazayyana
but made fair-seeming
لَهُمُ to them lahumu
to them
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ the Shaitaan l-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan
أَعْمَـٰلَهُمْ their deeds aʿmālahum
their deeds
فَهُوَ So he fahuwa
So he
وَلِيُّهُمُ (is) their ally waliyyuhumu
(is) their ally
ٱلْيَوْمَ today l-yawma
today
وَلَهُمْ and for them walahum
and for them
عَذَابٌ (is) a punishment ʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌۭ painful alīmun
painful
٦٣ (63)
(63)
By Allāh, We did certainly send [messengers] to nations before you, but Satan made their deeds attractive to them. And he is their [i.e., the disbelievers] ally today [as well], and they will have a painful punishment.
16:64
وَمَآ And not wamā
And not
أَنزَلْنَا We revealed anzalnā
We revealed
عَلَيْكَ to you ʿalayka
to you
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book l-kitāba
the Book
إِلَّا except illā
except
لِتُبَيِّنَ that you make clear litubayyina
that you make clear
لَهُمُ to them lahumu
to them
ٱلَّذِى that which alladhī
that which
ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ they differed ikh'talafū
they differed
فِيهِ ۙ in it fīhi
in it
وَهُدًۭى and (as) a guidance wahudan
and (as) a guidance
وَرَحْمَةًۭ and mercy waraḥmatan
and mercy
لِّقَوْمٍۢ for a people liqawmin
for a people
يُؤْمِنُونَ who believe yu'minūna
who believe
٦٤ (64)
(64)
And We have not revealed to you the Book, [O Muḥammad], except for you to make clear to them that wherein they have differed and as guidance and mercy for a people who believe.
16:65
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
أَنزَلَ has sent down anzala
has sent down
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ the sky l-samāi
the sky
مَآءًۭ water māan
water
فَأَحْيَا then gives life fa-aḥyā
then gives life
بِهِ by it bihi
by it
ٱلْأَرْضَ (to) the earth l-arḍa
(to) the earth
بَعْدَ after baʿda
after
مَوْتِهَآ ۚ its death mawtihā
its death
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
فِى in
in
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَةًۭ (is) surely a Sign laāyatan
(is) surely a Sign
لِّقَوْمٍۢ for a people liqawmin
for a people
يَسْمَعُونَ who listen yasmaʿūna
who listen
٦٥ (65)
(65)
And Allāh has sent down rain from the sky and given life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who listen.
16:66
وَإِنَّ And indeed wa-inna
And indeed
لَكُمْ for you lakum
for you
فِى in
in
ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ the cattle l-anʿāmi
the cattle
لَعِبْرَةًۭ ۖ (is) a lesson laʿib'ratan
(is) a lesson
نُّسْقِيكُم We give you to drink nus'qīkum
We give you to drink
مِّمَّا from what mimmā
from what
فِى (is) in
(is) in
بُطُونِهِۦ their bellies buṭūnihi
their bellies
مِنۢ from min
from
بَيْنِ between bayni
between
فَرْثٍۢ bowels farthin
bowels
وَدَمٍۢ and blood wadamin
and blood
لَّبَنًا milk labanan
milk
خَالِصًۭا pure khāliṣan
pure
سَآئِغًۭا palatable sāighan
palatable
لِّلشَّـٰرِبِينَ to the drinkers lilshāribīna
to the drinkers
٦٦ (66)
(66)
And indeed, for you in grazing livestock is a lesson. We give you drink from what is in their bellies - between excretion and blood - pure milk, palatable to drinkers.
16:67
وَمِن And from wamin
And from
ثَمَرَٰتِ fruits thamarāti
fruits
ٱلنَّخِيلِ the date-palm l-nakhīli
the date-palm
وَٱلْأَعْنَـٰبِ and the grapes wal-aʿnābi
and the grapes
تَتَّخِذُونَ you take tattakhidhūna
you take
مِنْهُ from it min'hu
from it
سَكَرًۭا intoxicant sakaran
intoxicant
وَرِزْقًا and a provision wariz'qan
and a provision
حَسَنًا ۗ good ḥasanan
good
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
فِى in
in
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَةًۭ (is) surely a Sign laāyatan
(is) surely a Sign
لِّقَوْمٍۢ for a people liqawmin
for a people
يَعْقِلُونَ who use reason yaʿqilūna
who use reason
٦٧ (67)
(67)
And from the fruits of the palm trees and grapevines you take intoxicant and good provision. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who reason.
16:68
وَأَوْحَىٰ And inspired wa-awḥā
And inspired
رَبُّكَ your Lord rabbuka
your Lord
إِلَى to ilā
to
ٱلنَّحْلِ the bee l-naḥli
the bee
أَنِ [that] ani
[that]
ٱتَّخِذِى Take ittakhidhī
Take
مِنَ among mina
among
ٱلْجِبَالِ the mountains l-jibāli
the mountains
بُيُوتًۭا houses buyūtan
houses
وَمِنَ and among wamina
and among
ٱلشَّجَرِ the trees l-shajari
the trees
وَمِمَّا and in what wamimmā
and in what
يَعْرِشُونَ they construct yaʿrishūna
they construct
٦٨ (68)
(68)
And your Lord inspired to the bee, "Take for yourself among the mountains, houses [i.e., hives], and among the trees and [in] that which they construct.
16:69
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
كُلِى eat kulī
eat
مِن from min
from
كُلِّ all kulli
all
ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ the fruits l-thamarāti
the fruits
فَٱسْلُكِى and follow fa-us'lukī
and follow
سُبُلَ (the) ways subula
(the) ways
رَبِّكِ (of) your Lord rabbiki
(of) your Lord
ذُلُلًۭا ۚ made smooth dhululan
made smooth
يَخْرُجُ Comes forth yakhruju
Comes forth
مِنۢ from min
from
بُطُونِهَا their bellies buṭūnihā
their bellies
شَرَابٌۭ a drink sharābun
a drink
مُّخْتَلِفٌ (of) varying mukh'talifun
(of) varying
أَلْوَٰنُهُۥ colors alwānuhu
colors
فِيهِ in it fīhi
in it
شِفَآءٌۭ (is) a healing shifāon
(is) a healing
لِّلنَّاسِ ۗ for the mankind lilnnāsi
for the mankind
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
فِى in
in
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَةًۭ (is) surely a Sign laāyatan
(is) surely a Sign
لِّقَوْمٍۢ for a people liqawmin
for a people
يَتَفَكَّرُونَ who reflect yatafakkarūna
who reflect
٦٩ (69)
(69)
Then eat from all the fruits and follow the ways of your Lord laid down [for you]." There emerges from their bellies a drink, varying in colors, in which there is healing for people. Indeed in that is a sign for a people who give thought.
16:70
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
خَلَقَكُمْ created you khalaqakum
created you
ثُمَّ then thumma
then
يَتَوَفَّىٰكُمْ ۚ will cause you to die yatawaffākum
will cause you to die
وَمِنكُم And among you waminkum
And among you
مَّن (is one) who man
(is one) who
يُرَدُّ is sent back yuraddu
is sent back
إِلَىٰٓ to ilā
to
أَرْذَلِ the worst ardhali
the worst
ٱلْعُمُرِ (of) the age l-ʿumuri
(of) the age
لِكَىْ so that likay
so that
لَا not
not
يَعْلَمَ he will know yaʿlama
he will know
بَعْدَ after baʿda
after
عِلْمٍۢ knowledge ʿil'min
knowledge
شَيْـًٔا ۚ a thing shayan
a thing
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
عَلِيمٌۭ (is) All-Knowing ʿalīmun
(is) All-Knowing
قَدِيرٌۭ All-Powerful qadīrun
All-Powerful
٧٠ (70)
(70)
And Allāh created you; then He will take you in death. And among you is he who is reversed to the most decrepit [old] age so that he will not know, after [having had] knowledge, a thing. Indeed, Allāh is Knowing and Competent.
16:71
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
فَضَّلَ has favored faḍḍala
has favored
بَعْضَكُمْ some of you baʿḍakum
some of you
عَلَىٰ over ʿalā
over
بَعْضٍۢ others baʿḍin
others
فِى in
in
ٱلرِّزْقِ ۚ [the] provision l-riz'qi
[the] provision
فَمَا But not famā
But not
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
فُضِّلُوا۟ were favored fuḍḍilū
were favored
بِرَآدِّى would hand over birāddī
would hand over
رِزْقِهِمْ their provision riz'qihim
their provision
عَلَىٰ to ʿalā
to
مَا whom
whom
مَلَكَتْ possess malakat
possess
أَيْمَـٰنُهُمْ their right hands aymānuhum
their right hands
فَهُمْ so (that) they fahum
so (that) they
فِيهِ (are) in it fīhi
(are) in it
سَوَآءٌ ۚ equal sawāon
equal
أَفَبِنِعْمَةِ Then is it the Favor afabiniʿ'mati
Then is it the Favor
ٱللَّهِ of Allah l-lahi
of Allah
يَجْحَدُونَ they reject yajḥadūna
they reject
٧١ (71)
(71)
And Allāh has favored some of you over others in provision. But those who were favored [i.e., given more] would not hand over their provision to those whom their right hands possess [i.e., slaves] so they would be equal to them therein. Then is it the favor of Allāh they reject?
16:72
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
جَعَلَ (has) made jaʿala
(has) made
لَكُم for you lakum
for you
مِّنْ from min
from
أَنفُسِكُمْ yourselves anfusikum
yourselves
أَزْوَٰجًۭا spouses azwājan
spouses
وَجَعَلَ and has made wajaʿala
and has made
لَكُم for you lakum
for you
مِّنْ from min
from
أَزْوَٰجِكُم your spouses azwājikum
your spouses
بَنِينَ sons banīna
sons
وَحَفَدَةًۭ and grandsons waḥafadatan
and grandsons
وَرَزَقَكُم and has provided for you warazaqakum
and has provided for you
مِّنَ from mina
from
ٱلطَّيِّبَـٰتِ ۚ the good things l-ṭayibāti
the good things
أَفَبِٱلْبَـٰطِلِ Then in falsehood do afabil-bāṭili
Then in falsehood do
يُؤْمِنُونَ they believe yu'minūna
they believe
وَبِنِعْمَتِ and the Favor wabiniʿ'mati
and the Favor
ٱللَّهِ of Allah l-lahi
of Allah
هُمْ they hum
they
يَكْفُرُونَ disbelieve yakfurūna
disbelieve
٧٢ (72)
(72)
And Allāh has made for you from yourselves mates and has made for you from your mates sons and grandchildren and has provided for you from the good things. Then in falsehood do they believe and in the favor of Allāh they disbelieve?
16:73
وَيَعْبُدُونَ And they worship wayaʿbudūna
And they worship
مِن other than min
other than
دُونِ other than dūni
other than
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
مَا which
which
لَا not
not
يَمْلِكُ possesses yamliku
possesses
لَهُمْ for them lahum
for them
رِزْقًۭا any provision riz'qan
any provision
مِّنَ from mina
from
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
شَيْـًۭٔا [anything] shayan
[anything]
وَلَا and not walā
and not
يَسْتَطِيعُونَ they are able yastaṭīʿūna
they are able
٧٣ (73)
(73)
And they worship besides Allāh that which does not possess for them [the power of] provision from the heavens and the earth at all, and [in fact], they are unable.
16:74
فَلَا So (do) not falā
So (do) not
تَضْرِبُوا۟ put forth taḍribū
put forth
لِلَّهِ for Allah lillahi
for Allah
ٱلْأَمْثَالَ ۚ the similitude l-amthāla
the similitude
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
يَعْلَمُ knows yaʿlamu
knows
وَأَنتُمْ and you wa-antum
and you
لَا (do) not
(do) not
تَعْلَمُونَ know taʿlamūna
know
٧٤ (74)
(74)
So do not assert similarities to Allāh. Indeed, Allāh knows and you do not know.
16:75
۞ ضَرَبَ Allah sets forth ḍaraba
Allah sets forth
ٱللَّهُ Allah sets forth l-lahu
Allah sets forth
مَثَلًا the example mathalan
the example
عَبْدًۭا (of) a slave ʿabdan
(of) a slave
مَّمْلُوكًۭا (who is) owned mamlūkan
(who is) owned
لَّا not
not
يَقْدِرُ he has power yaqdiru
he has power
عَلَىٰ on ʿalā
on
شَىْءٍۢ anything shayin
anything
وَمَن and (one) whom waman
and (one) whom
رَّزَقْنَـٰهُ We provided him razaqnāhu
We provided him
مِنَّا from Us minnā
from Us
رِزْقًا a provision riz'qan
a provision
حَسَنًۭا good ḥasanan
good
فَهُوَ so he fahuwa
so he
يُنفِقُ spends yunfiqu
spends
مِنْهُ from it min'hu
from it
سِرًّۭا secretly sirran
secretly
وَجَهْرًا ۖ and publicly wajahran
and publicly
هَلْ Can hal
Can
يَسْتَوُۥنَ ۚ they be equal yastawūna
they be equal
ٱلْحَمْدُ All praise l-ḥamdu
All praise
لِلَّهِ ۚ (is) for Allah lillahi
(is) for Allah
بَلْ Nay bal
Nay
أَكْثَرُهُمْ but most of them aktharuhum
but most of them
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ know yaʿlamūna
know
٧٥ (75)
(75)
Allāh presents an example: a slave [who is] owned and unable to do a thing and he to whom We have provided from Us good provision, so he spends from it secretly and publicly. Can they be equal? Praise to Allāh! But most of them do not know.
16:76
وَضَرَبَ And Allah sets forth waḍaraba
And Allah sets forth
ٱللَّهُ And Allah sets forth l-lahu
And Allah sets forth
مَثَلًۭا an example mathalan
an example
رَّجُلَيْنِ (of) two men rajulayni
(of) two men
أَحَدُهُمَآ one of them aḥaduhumā
one of them
أَبْكَمُ (is) dumb abkamu
(is) dumb
لَا not
not
يَقْدِرُ he has power yaqdiru
he has power
عَلَىٰ on ʿalā
on
شَىْءٍۢ anything shayin
anything
وَهُوَ while he wahuwa
while he
كَلٌّ (is) a burden kallun
(is) a burden
عَلَىٰ on ʿalā
on
مَوْلَىٰهُ his master mawlāhu
his master
أَيْنَمَا Wherever aynamā
Wherever
يُوَجِّههُّ he directs him yuwajjihhu
he directs him
لَا not
not
يَأْتِ he comes yati
he comes
بِخَيْرٍ ۖ with any good bikhayrin
with any good
هَلْ Is hal
Is
يَسْتَوِى equal yastawī
equal
هُوَ he huwa
he
وَمَن and (the one) who waman
and (the one) who
يَأْمُرُ commands yamuru
commands
بِٱلْعَدْلِ ۙ [of] justice bil-ʿadli
[of] justice
وَهُوَ and he wahuwa
and he
عَلَىٰ (is) on ʿalā
(is) on
صِرَٰطٍۢ a path ṣirāṭin
a path
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ straight mus'taqīmin
straight
٧٦ (76)
(76)
And Allāh presents an example of two men, one of them dumb and unable to do a thing, while he is a burden to his guardian. Wherever he directs him, he brings no good. Is he equal to one who commands justice, while he is on a straight path?
16:77
وَلِلَّهِ And to Allah (belongs) walillahi
And to Allah (belongs)
غَيْبُ (the) unseen ghaybu
(the) unseen
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَمَآ And not wamā
And not
أَمْرُ (is the) matter amru
(is the) matter
ٱلسَّاعَةِ (of) the Hour l-sāʿati
(of) the Hour
إِلَّا but illā
but
كَلَمْحِ as a twinkling kalamḥi
as a twinkling
ٱلْبَصَرِ (of) the eye l-baṣari
(of) the eye
أَوْ or aw
or
هُوَ it huwa
it
أَقْرَبُ ۚ (is) nearer aqrabu
(is) nearer
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
عَلَىٰ on ʿalā
on
كُلِّ every kulli
every
شَىْءٍۢ thing shayin
thing
قَدِيرٌۭ (is) All-Powerful qadīrun
(is) All-Powerful
٧٧ (77)
(77)
And to Allāh belongs the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth. And the command for the Hour is not but as a glance of the eye or even nearer. Indeed, Allāh is over all things competent.
16:78
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
أَخْرَجَكُم brought you forth akhrajakum
brought you forth
مِّنۢ from min
from
بُطُونِ the wombs buṭūni
the wombs
أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ (of) your mothers ummahātikum
(of) your mothers
لَا not
not
تَعْلَمُونَ knowing taʿlamūna
knowing
شَيْـًۭٔا anything shayan
anything
وَجَعَلَ and made wajaʿala
and made
لَكُمُ for you lakumu
for you
ٱلسَّمْعَ the hearing l-samʿa
the hearing
وَٱلْأَبْصَـٰرَ and the sight wal-abṣāra
and the sight
وَٱلْأَفْـِٔدَةَ ۙ and the hearts wal-afidata
and the hearts
لَعَلَّكُمْ so that you may laʿallakum
so that you may
تَشْكُرُونَ give thanks tashkurūna
give thanks
٧٨ (78)
(78)
And Allāh has extracted you from the wombs of your mothers not knowing a thing, and He made for you hearing and vision and hearts [i.e., intellect] that perhaps you would be grateful.
16:79
أَلَمْ Do not alam
Do not
يَرَوْا۟ they see yaraw
they see
إِلَى towards ilā
towards
ٱلطَّيْرِ the birds l-ṭayri
the birds
مُسَخَّرَٰتٍۢ controlled musakharātin
controlled
فِى in
in
جَوِّ the midst jawwi
the midst
ٱلسَّمَآءِ (of) the sky l-samāi
(of) the sky
مَا None
None
يُمْسِكُهُنَّ holds them up yum'sikuhunna
holds them up
إِلَّا except illā
except
ٱللَّهُ ۗ Allah l-lahu
Allah
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
فِى in
in
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
لَـَٔايَـٰتٍۢ (are) Signs laāyātin
(are) Signs
لِّقَوْمٍۢ for a people liqawmin
for a people
يُؤْمِنُونَ who believe yu'minūna
who believe
٧٩ (79)
(79)
Do they not see the birds controlled in the atmosphere of the sky? None holds them up except Allāh. Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe.
16:80
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
جَعَلَ (has) made jaʿala
(has) made
لَكُم for you lakum
for you
مِّنۢ [from] min
[from]
بُيُوتِكُمْ your homes buyūtikum
your homes
سَكَنًۭا a resting place sakanan
a resting place
وَجَعَلَ and made wajaʿala
and made
لَكُم for you lakum
for you
مِّن from min
from
جُلُودِ the hides julūdi
the hides
ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ (of) the cattle l-anʿāmi
(of) the cattle
بُيُوتًۭا tents buyūtan
tents
تَسْتَخِفُّونَهَا which you find light tastakhiffūnahā
which you find light
يَوْمَ (on) the day yawma
(on) the day
ظَعْنِكُمْ (of) your travel ẓaʿnikum
(of) your travel
وَيَوْمَ and the day wayawma
and the day
إِقَامَتِكُمْ ۙ (of) your encampment iqāmatikum
(of) your encampment
وَمِنْ and from wamin
and from
أَصْوَافِهَا their wool aṣwāfihā
their wool
وَأَوْبَارِهَا and their fur wa-awbārihā
and their fur
وَأَشْعَارِهَآ and their hair wa-ashʿārihā
and their hair
أَثَـٰثًۭا (is) furnishing athāthan
(is) furnishing
وَمَتَـٰعًا and a provision wamatāʿan
and a provision
إِلَىٰ for ilā
for
حِينٍۢ a time ḥīnin
a time
٨٠ (80)
(80)
And Allāh has made for you from your homes a place of rest and made for you from the hides of the animals tents which you find light on your day of travel and your day of encampment; and from their wool, fur and hair is furnishing and enjoyment [i.e., provision] for a time.
16:81
وَٱللَّهُ And Allah wal-lahu
And Allah
جَعَلَ (has) made jaʿala
(has) made
لَكُم for you lakum
for you
مِّمَّا from what mimmā
from what
خَلَقَ He created khalaqa
He created
ظِلَـٰلًۭا shades ẓilālan
shades
وَجَعَلَ and (has) made wajaʿala
and (has) made
لَكُم for you lakum
for you
مِّنَ from mina
from
ٱلْجِبَالِ the mountains l-jibāli
the mountains
أَكْنَـٰنًۭا shelters aknānan
shelters
وَجَعَلَ and (has) made wajaʿala
and (has) made
لَكُمْ for you lakum
for you
سَرَٰبِيلَ garments sarābīla
garments
تَقِيكُمُ to protect you taqīkumu
to protect you
ٱلْحَرَّ (from) the heat l-ḥara
(from) the heat
وَسَرَٰبِيلَ and garments wasarābīla
and garments
تَقِيكُم to protect you taqīkum
to protect you
بَأْسَكُمْ ۚ from your (mutual) violence basakum
from your (mutual) violence
كَذَٰلِكَ Thus kadhālika
Thus
يُتِمُّ He completes yutimmu
He completes
نِعْمَتَهُۥ His Favor niʿ'matahu
His Favor
عَلَيْكُمْ upon you ʿalaykum
upon you
لَعَلَّكُمْ so that you may laʿallakum
so that you may
تُسْلِمُونَ submit tus'limūna
submit
٨١ (81)
(81)
And Allāh has made for you, from that which He has created, shadows [i.e., shade] and has made for you from the mountains, shelters and has made for you garments which protect you from the heat and garments [i.e., coats of mail] which protect you from your [enemy in] battle. Thus does He complete His favor upon you that you might submit [to Him].
16:82
فَإِن Then, if fa-in
Then, if
تَوَلَّوْا۟ they turn away tawallaw
they turn away
فَإِنَّمَا then only fa-innamā
then only
عَلَيْكَ upon you ʿalayka
upon you
ٱلْبَلَـٰغُ (is) the conveyance l-balāghu
(is) the conveyance
ٱلْمُبِينُ the clear l-mubīnu
the clear
٨٢ (82)
(82)
But if they turn away, [O Muḥammad] - then only upon you is [responsibility for] clear notification.
16:83
يَعْرِفُونَ They recognize yaʿrifūna
They recognize
نِعْمَتَ (the) Favor niʿ'mata
(the) Favor
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
ثُمَّ then thumma
then
يُنكِرُونَهَا they deny it yunkirūnahā
they deny it
وَأَكْثَرُهُمُ And most of them wa-aktharuhumu
And most of them
ٱلْكَـٰفِرُونَ (are) the disbelievers l-kāfirūna
(are) the disbelievers
٨٣ (83)
(83)
They recognize the favor of Allāh; then they deny it. And most of them are disbelievers.
16:84
وَيَوْمَ And the Day wayawma
And the Day
نَبْعَثُ We will resurrect nabʿathu
We will resurrect
مِن from min
from
كُلِّ every kulli
every
أُمَّةٍۢ nation ummatin
nation
شَهِيدًۭا a witness shahīdan
a witness
ثُمَّ then thumma
then
لَا not
not
يُؤْذَنُ will be permitted yu'dhanu
will be permitted
لِلَّذِينَ to those who lilladhīna
to those who
كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieved kafarū
disbelieved
وَلَا and not walā
and not
هُمْ they hum
they
يُسْتَعْتَبُونَ will be asked to make amends yus'taʿtabūna
will be asked to make amends
٨٤ (84)
(84)
And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect from every nation a witness [i.e., their prophet]. Then it will not be permitted to the disbelievers [to apologize or make excuses], nor will they be asked to appease [Allāh].
16:85
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
رَءَا (will) see raā
(will) see
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
ظَلَمُوا۟ wronged ẓalamū
wronged
ٱلْعَذَابَ the punishment l-ʿadhāba
the punishment
فَلَا then not falā
then not
يُخَفَّفُ it will be lightened yukhaffafu
it will be lightened
عَنْهُمْ for them ʿanhum
for them
وَلَا and not walā
and not
هُمْ they hum
they
يُنظَرُونَ will be given respite yunẓarūna
will be given respite
٨٥ (85)
(85)
And when those who wronged see the punishment, it will not be lightened for them, nor will they be reprieved.
16:86
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
رَءَا (will) see raā
(will) see
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
أَشْرَكُوا۟ associated partners with Allah ashrakū
associated partners with Allah
شُرَكَآءَهُمْ their partners shurakāahum
their partners
قَالُوا۟ They will say qālū
They will say
رَبَّنَا Our Lord rabbanā
Our Lord
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ these hāulāi
these
شُرَكَآؤُنَا (are) our partners shurakāunā
(are) our partners
ٱلَّذِينَ those whom alladhīna
those whom
كُنَّا we used to kunnā
we used to
نَدْعُوا۟ invoke nadʿū
invoke
مِن besides You min
besides You
دُونِكَ ۖ besides You dūnika
besides You
فَأَلْقَوْا۟ But they (will) throw back fa-alqaw
But they (will) throw back
إِلَيْهِمُ at them ilayhimu
at them
ٱلْقَوْلَ (their) word l-qawla
(their) word
إِنَّكُمْ Indeed, you innakum
Indeed, you
لَكَـٰذِبُونَ (are) surely liars lakādhibūna
(are) surely liars
٨٦ (86)
(86)
And when those who associated others with Allāh see their "partners," they will say, "Our Lord, these are our partners [to You] whom we used to invoke [in worship] besides You." But they will throw at them the statement, "Indeed, you are liars."
16:87
وَأَلْقَوْا۟ And they (will) offer wa-alqaw
And they (will) offer
إِلَى to ilā
to
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
يَوْمَئِذٍ (on) that Day yawma-idhin
(on) that Day
ٱلسَّلَمَ ۖ the submission l-salama
the submission
وَضَلَّ and (is) lost waḍalla
and (is) lost
عَنْهُم from them ʿanhum
from them
مَّا what
what
كَانُوا۟ they used (to) kānū
they used (to)
يَفْتَرُونَ invent yaftarūna
invent
٨٧ (87)
(87)
And they will impart to Allāh that Day [their] submission, and lost from them is what they used to invent.
16:88
ٱلَّذِينَ And those who alladhīna
And those who
كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieved kafarū
disbelieved
وَصَدُّوا۟ and hindered waṣaddū
and hindered
عَن from ʿan
from
سَبِيلِ (the) way sabīli
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
زِدْنَـٰهُمْ We will increase them zid'nāhum
We will increase them
عَذَابًۭا (in) punishment ʿadhāban
(in) punishment
فَوْقَ over fawqa
over
ٱلْعَذَابِ punishment l-ʿadhābi
punishment
بِمَا because bimā
because
كَانُوا۟ they used (to) kānū
they used (to)
يُفْسِدُونَ spread corruption yuf'sidūna
spread corruption
٨٨ (88)
(88)
Those who disbelieved and averted [others] from the way of Allāh - We will increase them in punishment over [their] punishment for what corruption they were causing.
16:89
وَيَوْمَ And the Day wayawma
And the Day
نَبْعَثُ We will resurrect nabʿathu
We will resurrect
فِى among
among
كُلِّ every kulli
every
أُمَّةٍۢ nation ummatin
nation
شَهِيدًا a witness shahīdan
a witness
عَلَيْهِم over them ʿalayhim
over them
مِّنْ from min
from
أَنفُسِهِمْ ۖ themselves anfusihim
themselves
وَجِئْنَا And We (will) bring waji'nā
And We (will) bring
بِكَ you bika
you
شَهِيدًا (as) a witness shahīdan
(as) a witness
عَلَىٰ over ʿalā
over
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ ۚ these hāulāi
these
وَنَزَّلْنَا And We sent down wanazzalnā
And We sent down
عَلَيْكَ to you ʿalayka
to you
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Book l-kitāba
the Book
تِبْيَـٰنًۭا (as) a clarification tib'yānan
(as) a clarification
لِّكُلِّ of every likulli
of every
شَىْءٍۢ thing shayin
thing
وَهُدًۭى and a guidance wahudan
and a guidance
وَرَحْمَةًۭ and mercy waraḥmatan
and mercy
وَبُشْرَىٰ and glad tidings wabush'rā
and glad tidings
لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ for the Muslims lil'mus'limīna
for the Muslims
٨٩ (89)
(89)
And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect among every nation a witness over them from themselves [i.e., their prophet]. And We will bring you, [O Muḥammad], as a witness over these [i.e., your nation]. And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.
16:90
۞ إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
يَأْمُرُ commands yamuru
commands
بِٱلْعَدْلِ justice bil-ʿadli
justice
وَٱلْإِحْسَـٰنِ and the good wal-iḥ'sāni
and the good
وَإِيتَآئِ and giving waītāi
and giving
ذِى (to) relatives dhī
(to) relatives
ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ (to) relatives l-qur'bā
(to) relatives
وَيَنْهَىٰ and forbids wayanhā
and forbids
عَنِ [from] ʿani
[from]
ٱلْفَحْشَآءِ the immorality l-faḥshāi
the immorality
وَٱلْمُنكَرِ and the bad wal-munkari
and the bad
وَٱلْبَغْىِ ۚ and the oppression wal-baghyi
and the oppression
يَعِظُكُمْ He admonishes you yaʿiẓukum
He admonishes you
لَعَلَّكُمْ so that you may laʿallakum
so that you may
تَذَكَّرُونَ take heed tadhakkarūna
take heed
٩٠ (90)
(90)
Indeed, Allāh orders justice and good conduct and giving [help] to relatives and forbids immorality and bad conduct and oppression. He admonishes you that perhaps you will be reminded.
16:91
وَأَوْفُوا۟ And fulfil wa-awfū
And fulfil
بِعَهْدِ the covenant biʿahdi
the covenant
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
إِذَا when idhā
when
عَـٰهَدتُّمْ you have taken a covenant ʿāhadttum
you have taken a covenant
وَلَا and (do) not walā
and (do) not
تَنقُضُوا۟ break tanquḍū
break
ٱلْأَيْمَـٰنَ oaths l-aymāna
oaths
بَعْدَ after baʿda
after
تَوْكِيدِهَا their confirmation tawkīdihā
their confirmation
وَقَدْ while verily waqad
while verily
جَعَلْتُمُ you have made jaʿaltumu
you have made
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
عَلَيْكُمْ over you ʿalaykum
over you
كَفِيلًا ۚ a surety kafīlan
a surety
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
يَعْلَمُ knows yaʿlamu
knows
مَا what
what
تَفْعَلُونَ you do tafʿalūna
you do
٩١ (91)
(91)
And fulfill the covenant of Allāh when you have taken it, [O believers], and do not break oaths after their confirmation while you have made Allāh, over you, a security [i.e., witness]. Indeed, Allāh knows what you do.
16:92
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَكُونُوا۟ be takūnū
be
كَٱلَّتِى like her who ka-allatī
like her who
نَقَضَتْ untwists naqaḍat
untwists
غَزْلَهَا her spun yarn ghazlahā
her spun yarn
مِنۢ after min
after
بَعْدِ after baʿdi
after
قُوَّةٍ strength quwwatin
strength
أَنكَـٰثًۭا (into) untwisted strands ankāthan
(into) untwisted strands
تَتَّخِذُونَ you take tattakhidhūna
you take
أَيْمَـٰنَكُمْ your oaths aymānakum
your oaths
دَخَلًۢا (as) a deception dakhalan
(as) a deception
بَيْنَكُمْ between you baynakum
between you
أَن because an
because
تَكُونَ is takūna
is
أُمَّةٌ a community ummatun
a community
هِىَ [it] hiya
[it]
أَرْبَىٰ more numerous arbā
more numerous
مِنْ than min
than
أُمَّةٍ ۚ (another) community ummatin
(another) community
إِنَّمَا Only innamā
Only
يَبْلُوكُمُ Allah tests you yablūkumu
Allah tests you
ٱللَّهُ Allah tests you l-lahu
Allah tests you
بِهِۦ ۚ by it bihi
by it
وَلَيُبَيِّنَنَّ And He will make clear walayubayyinanna
And He will make clear
لَكُمْ to you lakum
to you
يَوْمَ (on) the Day yawma
(on) the Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
مَا what
what
كُنتُمْ you used (to) kuntum
you used (to)
فِيهِ in it fīhi
in it
تَخْتَلِفُونَ differ takhtalifūna
differ
٩٢ (92)
(92)
And do not be like she who untwisted her spun thread after it was strong [by] taking your oaths as [means of] deceit between you because one community is more plentiful [in number or wealth] than another community. Allāh only tries you thereby. And He will surely make clear to you on the Day of Resurrection that over which you used to differ.
16:93
وَلَوْ And if walaw
And if
شَآءَ Allah (had) willed shāa
Allah (had) willed
ٱللَّهُ Allah (had) willed l-lahu
Allah (had) willed
لَجَعَلَكُمْ surely He (could) have made you lajaʿalakum
surely He (could) have made you
أُمَّةًۭ a nation ummatan
a nation
وَٰحِدَةًۭ one wāḥidatan
one
وَلَـٰكِن but walākin
but
يُضِلُّ He lets go astray yuḍillu
He lets go astray
مَن whom man
whom
يَشَآءُ He wills yashāu
He wills
وَيَهْدِى and guides wayahdī
and guides
مَن whom man
whom
يَشَآءُ ۚ He wills yashāu
He wills
وَلَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ And surely you will be questioned walatus'alunna
And surely you will be questioned
عَمَّا about what ʿammā
about what
كُنتُمْ you used (to) kuntum
you used (to)
تَعْمَلُونَ do taʿmalūna
do
٩٣ (93)
(93)
And if Allāh had willed, He could have made you [of] one religion, but He sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And you will surely be questioned about what you used to do.
16:94
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَتَّخِذُوٓا۟ take tattakhidhū
take
أَيْمَـٰنَكُمْ your oaths aymānakum
your oaths
دَخَلًۢا (as) a deception dakhalan
(as) a deception
بَيْنَكُمْ between you baynakum
between you
فَتَزِلَّ lest, should slip fatazilla
lest, should slip
قَدَمٌۢ a foot qadamun
a foot
بَعْدَ after baʿda
after
ثُبُوتِهَا it is firmly planted thubūtihā
it is firmly planted
وَتَذُوقُوا۟ and you would taste watadhūqū
and you would taste
ٱلسُّوٓءَ the evil l-sūa
the evil
بِمَا for what bimā
for what
صَدَدتُّمْ you hindered ṣadadttum
you hindered
عَن from ʿan
from
سَبِيلِ (the) way sabīli
(the) way
ٱللَّهِ ۖ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَلَكُمْ and for you walakum
and for you
عَذَابٌ (is) a punishment ʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٌۭ great ʿaẓīmun
great
٩٤ (94)
(94)
And do not take your oaths as [means of] deceit between you, lest a foot slip after it was [once] firm, and you would taste evil [in this world] for what [people] you diverted from the way of Allāh, and you would have [in the Hereafter] a great punishment.
16:95
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَشْتَرُوا۟ exchange tashtarū
exchange
بِعَهْدِ the covenant biʿahdi
the covenant
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
ثَمَنًۭا (for) a price thamanan
(for) a price
قَلِيلًا ۚ little qalīlan
little
إِنَّمَا Indeed, what innamā
Indeed, what
عِندَ (is) with ʿinda
(is) with
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
هُوَ it huwa
it
خَيْرٌۭ (is) better khayrun
(is) better
لَّكُمْ for you lakum
for you
إِن if in
if
كُنتُمْ you were (to) kuntum
you were (to)
تَعْلَمُونَ know taʿlamūna
know
٩٥ (95)
(95)
And do not exchange the covenant of Allāh for a small price. Indeed, what is with Allāh is best for you, if only you could know.
16:96
مَا Whatever
Whatever
عِندَكُمْ (is) with you ʿindakum
(is) with you
يَنفَدُ ۖ will be exhausted yanfadu
will be exhausted
وَمَا and whatever wamā
and whatever
عِندَ (is) with ʿinda
(is) with
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
بَاقٍۢ ۗ (will) be remaining bāqin
(will) be remaining
وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّ And surely We will pay walanajziyanna
And surely We will pay
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
صَبَرُوٓا۟ (are) patient ṣabarū
(are) patient
أَجْرَهُم their reward ajrahum
their reward
بِأَحْسَنِ to (the) best bi-aḥsani
to (the) best
مَا (of) what
(of) what
كَانُوا۟ they used (to) kānū
they used (to)
يَعْمَلُونَ do yaʿmalūna
do
٩٦ (96)
(96)
Whatever you have will end, but what Allāh has is lasting. And We will surely give those who were patient their reward according to the best of what they used to do.
16:97
مَنْ Whoever man
Whoever
عَمِلَ does ʿamila
does
صَـٰلِحًۭا righteous deeds ṣāliḥan
righteous deeds
مِّن whether min
whether
ذَكَرٍ male dhakarin
male
أَوْ or aw
or
أُنثَىٰ female unthā
female
وَهُوَ while he wahuwa
while he
مُؤْمِنٌۭ (is) a believer mu'minun
(is) a believer
فَلَنُحْيِيَنَّهُۥ then surely We will give him life falanuḥ'yiyannahu
then surely We will give him life
حَيَوٰةًۭ a life ḥayatan
a life
طَيِّبَةًۭ ۖ good ṭayyibatan
good
وَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْ and We will pay them walanajziyannahum
and We will pay them
أَجْرَهُم their reward ajrahum
their reward
بِأَحْسَنِ to (the) best bi-aḥsani
to (the) best
مَا of what
of what
كَانُوا۟ they used (to) kānū
they used (to)
يَعْمَلُونَ do yaʿmalūna
do
٩٧ (97)
(97)
Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life, and We will surely give them their reward [in the Hereafter] according to the best of what they used to do.
16:98
فَإِذَا So when fa-idhā
So when
قَرَأْتَ you recite qarata
you recite
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ the Quran l-qur'āna
the Quran
فَٱسْتَعِذْ seek refuge fa-is'taʿidh
seek refuge
بِٱللَّهِ in Allah bil-lahi
in Allah
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنِ the Shaitaan l-shayṭāni
the Shaitaan
ٱلرَّجِيمِ the accursed l-rajīmi
the accursed
٩٨ (98)
(98)
So when you recite the Qur’ān, [first] seek refuge in Allāh from Satan, the expelled [from His mercy].
16:99
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed he innahu
Indeed he
لَيْسَ not laysa
not
لَهُۥ for him lahu
for him
سُلْطَـٰنٌ (is) any authority sul'ṭānun
(is) any authority
عَلَى on ʿalā
on
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟ believe āmanū
believe
وَعَلَىٰ and upon waʿalā
and upon
رَبِّهِمْ their Lord rabbihim
their Lord
يَتَوَكَّلُونَ they put their trust yatawakkalūna
they put their trust
٩٩ (99)
(99)
Indeed, there is for him no authority over those who have believed and rely upon their Lord.
16:100
إِنَّمَا Only innamā
Only
سُلْطَـٰنُهُۥ his authority sul'ṭānuhu
his authority
عَلَى (is) over ʿalā
(is) over
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
يَتَوَلَّوْنَهُۥ take him as an ally yatawallawnahu
take him as an ally
وَٱلَّذِينَ and those who wa-alladhīna
and those who
هُم [they] hum
[they]
بِهِۦ with Him bihi
with Him
مُشْرِكُونَ associate partners mush'rikūna
associate partners
١٠٠ (100)
(100)
His authority is only over those who take him as an ally and those who through him associate others with Allāh.
16:101
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
بَدَّلْنَآ We substitute baddalnā
We substitute
ءَايَةًۭ a Verse āyatan
a Verse
مَّكَانَ (in) place makāna
(in) place
ءَايَةٍۢ ۙ (of) a Verse āyatin
(of) a Verse
وَٱللَّهُ and Allah wal-lahu
and Allah
أَعْلَمُ (is) most knowing aʿlamu
(is) most knowing
بِمَا of what bimā
of what
يُنَزِّلُ He sends down yunazzilu
He sends down
قَالُوٓا۟ they say qālū
they say
إِنَّمَآ Only innamā
Only
أَنتَ you anta
you
مُفْتَرٍۭ ۚ (are) an inventor muf'tarin
(are) an inventor
بَلْ Nay bal
Nay
أَكْثَرُهُمْ most of them aktharuhum
most of them
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يَعْلَمُونَ know yaʿlamūna
know
١٠١ (101)
(101)
And when We substitute a verse in place of a verse - and Allāh is most knowing of what He sends down - they say, "You, [O Muḥammad], are but an inventor [of lies]." But most of them do not know.
16:102
قُلْ Say qul
Say
نَزَّلَهُۥ Has brought it down nazzalahu
Has brought it down
رُوحُ the Holy Spirit rūḥu
the Holy Spirit
ٱلْقُدُسِ the Holy Spirit l-qudusi
the Holy Spirit
مِن from min
from
رَّبِّكَ your Lord rabbika
your Lord
بِٱلْحَقِّ in truth bil-ḥaqi
in truth
لِيُثَبِّتَ to make firm liyuthabbita
to make firm
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
ءَامَنُوا۟ believe āmanū
believe
وَهُدًۭى and (as) a guidance wahudan
and (as) a guidance
وَبُشْرَىٰ and glad tidings wabush'rā
and glad tidings
لِلْمُسْلِمِينَ to the Muslims lil'mus'limīna
to the Muslims
١٠٢ (102)
(102)
Say, [O Muḥammad], "The Pure Spirit [i.e., Gabriel] has brought it down from your Lord in truth to make firm those who believe and as guidance and good tidings to the Muslims."
16:103
وَلَقَدْ And certainly walaqad
And certainly
نَعْلَمُ We know naʿlamu
We know
أَنَّهُمْ that they annahum
that they
يَقُولُونَ say yaqūlūna
say
إِنَّمَا Only innamā
Only
يُعَلِّمُهُۥ teaches him yuʿallimuhu
teaches him
بَشَرٌۭ ۗ a human being basharun
a human being
لِّسَانُ (The) tongue lisānu
(The) tongue
ٱلَّذِى (of) the one alladhī
(of) the one
يُلْحِدُونَ they refer yul'ḥidūna
they refer
إِلَيْهِ to him ilayhi
to him
أَعْجَمِىٌّۭ (is) foreign aʿjamiyyun
(is) foreign
وَهَـٰذَا while this wahādhā
while this
لِسَانٌ (is) a language lisānun
(is) a language
عَرَبِىٌّۭ Arabic ʿarabiyyun
Arabic
مُّبِينٌ clear mubīnun
clear
١٠٣ (103)
(103)
And We certainly know that they say, "It is only a human being who teaches him [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)]." The tongue of the one they refer to is foreign, and this [recitation, i.e., Qur’ān] is [in] a clear Arabic language.
16:104
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ believe yu'minūna
believe
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ in the Verses biāyāti
in the Verses
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
لَا not
not
يَهْدِيهِمُ Allah will guide them yahdīhimu
Allah will guide them
ٱللَّهُ Allah will guide them l-lahu
Allah will guide them
وَلَهُمْ and for them walahum
and for them
عَذَابٌ (is) a punishment ʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌ painful alīmun
painful
١٠٤ (104)
(104)
Indeed, those who do not believe in the verses of Allāh - Allāh will not guide them, and for them is a painful punishment.
16:105
إِنَّمَا Only innamā
Only
يَفْتَرِى they invent yaftarī
they invent
ٱلْكَذِبَ the falsehood l-kadhiba
the falsehood
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يُؤْمِنُونَ believe yu'minūna
believe
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ in the Verses biāyāti
in the Verses
ٱللَّهِ ۖ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ and those wa-ulāika
and those
هُمُ they humu
they
ٱلْكَـٰذِبُونَ (are) the liars l-kādhibūna
(are) the liars
١٠٥ (105)
(105)
They only invent falsehood who do not believe in the verses of Allāh, and it is those who are the liars.
16:106
مَن Whoever man
Whoever
كَفَرَ disbelieves kafara
disbelieves
بِٱللَّهِ in Allah bil-lahi
in Allah
مِنۢ after min
after
بَعْدِ after baʿdi
after
إِيمَـٰنِهِۦٓ his belief īmānihi
his belief
إِلَّا except illā
except
مَنْ (one) who man
(one) who
أُكْرِهَ is forced uk'riha
is forced
وَقَلْبُهُۥ while his heart waqalbuhu
while his heart
مُطْمَئِنٌّۢ (is) content muṭ'ma-innun
(is) content
بِٱلْإِيمَـٰنِ with the faith bil-īmāni
with the faith
وَلَـٰكِن But walākin
But
مَّن (one) who man
(one) who
شَرَحَ opens sharaḥa
opens
بِٱلْكُفْرِ to disbelief bil-kuf'ri
to disbelief
صَدْرًۭا (his) breast ṣadran
(his) breast
فَعَلَيْهِمْ then upon them faʿalayhim
then upon them
غَضَبٌۭ (is) a wrath ghaḍabun
(is) a wrath
مِّنَ of mina
of
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
وَلَهُمْ and for them walahum
and for them
عَذَابٌ (is) a punishment ʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
عَظِيمٌۭ great ʿaẓīmun
great
١٠٦ (106)
(106)
Whoever disbelieves in [i.e., denies] Allāh after his belief... except for one who is forced [to renounce his religion] while his heart is secure in faith. But those who [willingly] open their breasts to disbelief, upon them is wrath from Allāh, and for them is a great punishment;
16:107
ذَٰلِكَ That (is) dhālika
That (is)
بِأَنَّهُمُ because bi-annahumu
because
ٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟ they preferred is'taḥabbū
they preferred
ٱلْحَيَوٰةَ the life l-ḥayata
the life
ٱلدُّنْيَا (of) the world l-dun'yā
(of) the world
عَلَى over ʿalā
over
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ the Hereafter l-ākhirati
the Hereafter
وَأَنَّ and that wa-anna
and that
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
لَا (does) not
(does) not
يَهْدِى guide yahdī
guide
ٱلْقَوْمَ the people l-qawma
the people
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ the disbelievers l-kāfirīna
the disbelievers
١٠٧ (107)
(107)
That is because they preferred the worldly life over the Hereafter and that Allāh does not guide the disbelieving people.
16:108
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ulāika
Those
ٱلَّذِينَ (are) the ones alladhīna
(are) the ones
طَبَعَ Allah has set a seal ṭabaʿa
Allah has set a seal
ٱللَّهُ Allah has set a seal l-lahu
Allah has set a seal
عَلَىٰ over ʿalā
over
قُلُوبِهِمْ their hearts qulūbihim
their hearts
وَسَمْعِهِمْ and their hearing wasamʿihim
and their hearing
وَأَبْصَـٰرِهِمْ ۖ and their sight wa-abṣārihim
and their sight
وَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ And those wa-ulāika
And those
هُمُ they are humu
they are
ٱلْغَـٰفِلُونَ the heedless l-ghāfilūna
the heedless
١٠٨ (108)
(108)
Those are the ones over whose hearts and hearing and vision Allāh has sealed, and it is those who are the heedless.
16:109
لَا No
No
جَرَمَ doubt jarama
doubt
أَنَّهُمْ that they annahum
that they
فِى in
in
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ the Hereafter l-ākhirati
the Hereafter
هُمُ [they] humu
[they]
ٱلْخَـٰسِرُونَ (are) the losers l-khāsirūna
(are) the losers
١٠٩ (109)
(109)
Assuredly, it is they, in the Hereafter, who will be the losers.
16:110
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
إِنَّ indeed inna
indeed
رَبَّكَ your Lord rabbaka
your Lord
لِلَّذِينَ to those who lilladhīna
to those who
هَاجَرُوا۟ emigrated hājarū
emigrated
مِنۢ after min
after
بَعْدِ after baʿdi
after
مَا what
what
فُتِنُوا۟ they had been put to trials futinū
they had been put to trials
ثُمَّ then thumma
then
جَـٰهَدُوا۟ strove hard jāhadū
strove hard
وَصَبَرُوٓا۟ and were patient waṣabarū
and were patient
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
رَبَّكَ your Lord rabbaka
your Lord
مِنۢ after it min
after it
بَعْدِهَا after it baʿdihā
after it
لَغَفُورٌۭ surely is Oft-Forgiving laghafūrun
surely is Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۭ Most Merciful raḥīmun
Most Merciful
١١٠ (110)
(110)
Then, indeed your Lord, to those who emigrated after they had been compelled [to say words of disbelief] and thereafter fought [for the cause of Allāh] and were patient - indeed, your Lord, after that, is Forgiving and Merciful
16:111
۞ يَوْمَ (On) the Day yawma
(On) the Day
تَأْتِى (when) will come tatī
(when) will come
كُلُّ every kullu
every
نَفْسٍۢ soul nafsin
soul
تُجَـٰدِلُ pleading tujādilu
pleading
عَن for ʿan
for
نَّفْسِهَا itself nafsihā
itself
وَتُوَفَّىٰ and will be paid in full watuwaffā
and will be paid in full
كُلُّ every kullu
every
نَفْسٍۢ soul nafsin
soul
مَّا what
what
عَمِلَتْ it did ʿamilat
it did
وَهُمْ and they wahum
and they
لَا (will) not
(will) not
يُظْلَمُونَ be wronged yuẓ'lamūna
be wronged
١١١ (111)
(111)
On the Day when every soul will come disputing [i.e., pleading] for itself, and every soul will be fully compensated for what it did, and they will not be wronged [i.e., treated unjustly].
16:112
وَضَرَبَ And Allah sets forth waḍaraba
And Allah sets forth
ٱللَّهُ And Allah sets forth l-lahu
And Allah sets forth
مَثَلًۭا a similitude mathalan
a similitude
قَرْيَةًۭ (of) a town qaryatan
(of) a town
كَانَتْ (that) was kānat
(that) was
ءَامِنَةًۭ secure āminatan
secure
مُّطْمَئِنَّةًۭ and content muṭ'ma-innatan
and content
يَأْتِيهَا coming to it yatīhā
coming to it
رِزْقُهَا its provision riz'quhā
its provision
رَغَدًۭا (in) abundance raghadan
(in) abundance
مِّن from min
from
كُلِّ every kulli
every
مَكَانٍۢ place makānin
place
فَكَفَرَتْ but it denied fakafarat
but it denied
بِأَنْعُمِ (the) Favors of Allah bi-anʿumi
(the) Favors of Allah
ٱللَّهِ (the) Favors of Allah l-lahi
(the) Favors of Allah
فَأَذَٰقَهَا so Allah made it taste fa-adhāqahā
so Allah made it taste
ٱللَّهُ so Allah made it taste l-lahu
so Allah made it taste
لِبَاسَ (the) garb libāsa
(the) garb
ٱلْجُوعِ (of) the hunger l-jūʿi
(of) the hunger
وَٱلْخَوْفِ and the fear wal-khawfi
and the fear
بِمَا for what bimā
for what
كَانُوا۟ they used (to) kānū
they used (to)
يَصْنَعُونَ do yaṣnaʿūna
do
١١٢ (112)
(112)
And Allāh presents an example: a city [i.e., Makkah] which was safe and secure, its provision coming to it in abundance from every location, but it denied the favors of Allāh. So Allāh made it taste the envelopment of hunger and fear for what they had been doing.
16:113
وَلَقَدْ And certainly walaqad
And certainly
جَآءَهُمْ came to them jāahum
came to them
رَسُولٌۭ a Messenger rasūlun
a Messenger
مِّنْهُمْ from among them min'hum
from among them
فَكَذَّبُوهُ but they denied him fakadhabūhu
but they denied him
فَأَخَذَهُمُ so seized them fa-akhadhahumu
so seized them
ٱلْعَذَابُ the punishment l-ʿadhābu
the punishment
وَهُمْ while they wahum
while they
ظَـٰلِمُونَ (were) wrongdoers ẓālimūna
(were) wrongdoers
١١٣ (113)
(113)
And there had certainly come to them a Messenger from among themselves, but they denied him; so punishment overtook them while they were wrongdoers.
16:114
فَكُلُوا۟ So eat fakulū
So eat
مِمَّا of what mimmā
of what
رَزَقَكُمُ Allah has provided you razaqakumu
Allah has provided you
ٱللَّهُ Allah has provided you l-lahu
Allah has provided you
حَلَـٰلًۭا lawful ḥalālan
lawful
طَيِّبًۭا and good ṭayyiban
and good
وَٱشْكُرُوا۟ And be grateful wa-ush'kurū
And be grateful
نِعْمَتَ (for the) Favor niʿ'mata
(for the) Favor
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
إِن if in
if
كُنتُمْ [you] kuntum
[you]
إِيَّاهُ Him Alone iyyāhu
Him Alone
تَعْبُدُونَ you worship taʿbudūna
you worship
١١٤ (114)
(114)
Then eat of what Allāh has provided for you [which is] lawful and good. And be grateful for the favor of Allāh, if it is [indeed] Him that you worship.
16:115
إِنَّمَا Only innamā
Only
حَرَّمَ He has forbidden ḥarrama
He has forbidden
عَلَيْكُمُ to you ʿalaykumu
to you
ٱلْمَيْتَةَ the dead animal l-maytata
the dead animal
وَٱلدَّمَ and the blood wal-dama
and the blood
وَلَحْمَ and the flesh walaḥma
and the flesh
ٱلْخِنزِيرِ (of) the swine l-khinzīri
(of) the swine
وَمَآ and what wamā
and what
أُهِلَّ has been dedicated uhilla
has been dedicated
لِغَيْرِ to other (than) lighayri
to other (than)
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
بِهِۦ ۖ [with it] bihi
[with it]
فَمَنِ But (if) one famani
But (if) one
ٱضْطُرَّ (is) forced uḍ'ṭurra
(is) forced
غَيْرَ without (being) ghayra
without (being)
بَاغٍۢ disobedient bāghin
disobedient
وَلَا and not walā
and not
عَادٍۢ a transgressor ʿādin
a transgressor
فَإِنَّ then indeed fa-inna
then indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
غَفُورٌۭ (is) Oft-Forgiving ghafūrun
(is) Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌۭ Most Merciful raḥīmun
Most Merciful
١١٥ (115)
(115)
He has only forbidden to you dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allāh. But whoever is forced [by necessity], neither desiring [it] nor transgressing [its limit] - then indeed, Allāh is Forgiving and Merciful.
16:116
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَقُولُوا۟ say taqūlū
say
لِمَا for that which limā
for that which
تَصِفُ assert taṣifu
assert
أَلْسِنَتُكُمُ your tongues alsinatukumu
your tongues
ٱلْكَذِبَ the lie l-kadhiba
the lie
هَـٰذَا This hādhā
This
حَلَـٰلٌۭ (is) lawful ḥalālun
(is) lawful
وَهَـٰذَا and this wahādhā
and this
حَرَامٌۭ (is) forbidden ḥarāmun
(is) forbidden
لِّتَفْتَرُوا۟ so that you invent litaftarū
so that you invent
عَلَى about ʿalā
about
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
ٱلْكَذِبَ ۚ the lie l-kadhiba
the lie
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
يَفْتَرُونَ invent yaftarūna
invent
عَلَى about ʿalā
about
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
ٱلْكَذِبَ the lie l-kadhiba
the lie
لَا they will not succeed
they will not succeed
يُفْلِحُونَ they will not succeed yuf'liḥūna
they will not succeed
١١٦ (116)
(116)
And do not say about what your tongues assert of untruth, "This is lawful and this is unlawful," to invent falsehood about Allāh. Indeed, those who invent falsehood about Allāh will not succeed.
16:117
مَتَـٰعٌۭ An enjoyment matāʿun
An enjoyment
قَلِيلٌۭ little qalīlun
little
وَلَهُمْ and for them walahum
and for them
عَذَابٌ (is) a punishment ʿadhābun
(is) a punishment
أَلِيمٌۭ painful alīmun
painful
١١٧ (117)
(117)
[It is but] a brief enjoyment, and they will have a painful punishment.
16:118
وَعَلَى And to waʿalā
And to
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
هَادُوا۟ are Jews hādū
are Jews
حَرَّمْنَا We have forbidden ḥarramnā
We have forbidden
مَا what
what
قَصَصْنَا We related qaṣaṣnā
We related
عَلَيْكَ to you ʿalayka
to you
مِن before min
before
قَبْلُ ۖ before qablu
before
وَمَا And not wamā
And not
ظَلَمْنَـٰهُمْ We wronged them ẓalamnāhum
We wronged them
وَلَـٰكِن but walākin
but
كَانُوٓا۟ they used (to) kānū
they used (to)
أَنفُسَهُمْ themselves anfusahum
themselves
يَظْلِمُونَ wrong yaẓlimūna
wrong
١١٨ (118)
(118)
And to those who are Jews We have prohibited that which We related to you before. And We did not wrong them [thereby], but they were wronging themselves.
16:119
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
إِنَّ indeed inna
indeed
رَبَّكَ your Lord rabbaka
your Lord
لِلَّذِينَ to those who lilladhīna
to those who
عَمِلُوا۟ did ʿamilū
did
ٱلسُّوٓءَ evil l-sūa
evil
بِجَهَـٰلَةٍۢ in ignorance bijahālatin
in ignorance
ثُمَّ then thumma
then
تَابُوا۟ repented tābū
repented
مِنۢ after min
after
بَعْدِ after baʿdi
after
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
وَأَصْلَحُوٓا۟ and corrected themselves wa-aṣlaḥū
and corrected themselves
إِنَّ indeed inna
indeed
رَبَّكَ your Lord rabbaka
your Lord
مِنۢ after that min
after that
بَعْدِهَا after that baʿdihā
after that
لَغَفُورٌۭ (is) surely Oft-Forgiving laghafūrun
(is) surely Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمٌ Most Merciful raḥīmun
Most Merciful
١١٩ (119)
(119)
Then, indeed your Lord, to those who have done wrong out of ignorance and then repent after that and correct themselves - indeed, your Lord, thereafter, is Forgiving and Merciful.
16:120
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ Ibrahim ib'rāhīma
Ibrahim
كَانَ was kāna
was
أُمَّةًۭ a nation ummatan
a nation
قَانِتًۭا obedient qānitan
obedient
لِّلَّهِ to Allah lillahi
to Allah
حَنِيفًۭا upright ḥanīfan
upright
وَلَمْ and not walam
and not
يَكُ he was yaku
he was
مِنَ of mina
of
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ the polytheists l-mush'rikīna
the polytheists
١٢٠ (120)
(120)
Indeed, Abraham was a [comprehensive] leader, devoutly obedient to Allāh, inclining toward truth, and he was not of those who associate others with Allāh.
16:121
شَاكِرًۭا Thankful shākiran
Thankful
لِّأَنْعُمِهِ ۚ for His favors li-anʿumihi
for His favors
ٱجْتَبَىٰهُ He chose him ij'tabāhu
He chose him
وَهَدَىٰهُ and guided him wahadāhu
and guided him
إِلَىٰ to ilā
to
صِرَٰطٍۢ the way ṣirāṭin
the way
مُّسْتَقِيمٍۢ straight mus'taqīmin
straight
١٢١ (121)
(121)
[He was] grateful for His favors. He [i.e., Allāh] chose him and guided him to a straight path.
16:122
وَءَاتَيْنَـٰهُ And We gave him waātaynāhu
And We gave him
فِى in
in
ٱلدُّنْيَا the world l-dun'yā
the world
حَسَنَةًۭ ۖ good ḥasanatan
good
وَإِنَّهُۥ and indeed, he wa-innahu
and indeed, he
فِى in
in
ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةِ the Hereafter l-ākhirati
the Hereafter
لَمِنَ (he) will surely (be) among lamina
(he) will surely (be) among
ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ the righteous l-ṣāliḥīna
the righteous
١٢٢ (122)
(122)
And We gave him good in this world, and indeed, in the Hereafter he will be among the righteous.
16:123
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
أَوْحَيْنَآ We revealed awḥaynā
We revealed
إِلَيْكَ to you ilayka
to you
أَنِ that ani
that
ٱتَّبِعْ You follow ittabiʿ
You follow
مِلَّةَ (the) religion millata
(the) religion
إِبْرَٰهِيمَ (of) Ibrahim ib'rāhīma
(of) Ibrahim
حَنِيفًۭا ۖ upright ḥanīfan
upright
وَمَا and not wamā
and not
كَانَ he was kāna
he was
مِنَ of mina
of
ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ the polytheists l-mush'rikīna
the polytheists
١٢٣ (123)
(123)
Then We revealed to you, [O Muḥammad], to follow the religion of Abraham, inclining toward truth; and he was not of those who associate with Allāh.
16:124
إِنَّمَا Only innamā
Only
جُعِلَ was appointed juʿila
was appointed
ٱلسَّبْتُ the Sabbath l-sabtu
the Sabbath
عَلَى for ʿalā
for
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
ٱخْتَلَفُوا۟ differed ikh'talafū
differed
فِيهِ ۚ in it fīhi
in it
وَإِنَّ And indeed wa-inna
And indeed
رَبَّكَ your Lord rabbaka
your Lord
لَيَحْكُمُ will surely judge layaḥkumu
will surely judge
بَيْنَهُمْ between them baynahum
between them
يَوْمَ (on) the Day yawma
(on) the Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ (of) the Resurrection l-qiyāmati
(of) the Resurrection
فِيمَا in what fīmā

كَانُوا۟ they used (to) kānū

يَخْتَلِفُونَ differ yakhtalifūna
differ
١٢٤ (124)
(124)
The sabbath was only appointed for those who differed over it. And indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ.
16:125
ٱدْعُ Call ud'ʿu
Call
إِلَىٰ to ilā
to
سَبِيلِ (the) way sabīli
(the) way
رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord rabbika
(of) your Lord
بِٱلْحِكْمَةِ with the wisdom bil-ḥik'mati
with the wisdom
وَٱلْمَوْعِظَةِ and the instruction wal-mawʿiẓati
and the instruction
ٱلْحَسَنَةِ ۖ the good l-ḥasanati
the good
وَجَـٰدِلْهُم and discuss with them wajādil'hum
and discuss with them
بِٱلَّتِى in that bi-allatī
in that
هِىَ which hiya
which
أَحْسَنُ ۚ (is) best aḥsanu
(is) best
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
رَبَّكَ your Lord rabbaka
your Lord
هُوَ He huwa
He
أَعْلَمُ (is) most knowing aʿlamu
(is) most knowing
بِمَن of who biman
of who
ضَلَّ has strayed ḍalla
has strayed
عَن from ʿan
from
سَبِيلِهِۦ ۖ His way sabīlihi
His way
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa
And He
أَعْلَمُ (is) most knowing aʿlamu
(is) most knowing
بِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ of the guided ones bil-muh'tadīna
of the guided ones
١٢٥ (125)
(125)
Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good instruction, and argue with them in a way that is best. Indeed, your Lord is most knowing of who has strayed from His way, and He is most knowing of who is [rightly] guided.
16:126
وَإِنْ And if wa-in
And if
عَاقَبْتُمْ you retaliate ʿāqabtum
you retaliate
فَعَاقِبُوا۟ then retaliate faʿāqibū
then retaliate
بِمِثْلِ with the like bimith'li
with the like
مَا of what
of what
عُوقِبْتُم you were afflicted ʿūqib'tum
you were afflicted
بِهِۦ ۖ with [it] bihi
with [it]
وَلَئِن But if wala-in
But if
صَبَرْتُمْ you are patient ṣabartum
you are patient
لَهُوَ surely (it) is lahuwa
surely (it) is
خَيْرٌۭ better khayrun
better
لِّلصَّـٰبِرِينَ for those who are patient lilṣṣābirīna
for those who are patient
١٢٦ (126)
(126)
And if you punish [an enemy, O believers], punish with an equivalent of that with which you were harmed. But if you are patient - it is better for those who are patient.
16:127
وَٱصْبِرْ And be patient wa-iṣ'bir
And be patient
وَمَا and not wamā
and not
صَبْرُكَ (is) your patience ṣabruka
(is) your patience
إِلَّا but illā
but
بِٱللَّهِ ۚ from Allah bil-lahi
from Allah
وَلَا And (do) not walā
And (do) not
تَحْزَنْ grieve taḥzan
grieve
عَلَيْهِمْ over them ʿalayhim
over them
وَلَا and (do) not walā
and (do) not
تَكُ be taku
be
فِى in
in
ضَيْقٍۢ distress ḍayqin
distress
مِّمَّا for what mimmā
for what
يَمْكُرُونَ they plot yamkurūna
they plot
١٢٧ (127)
(127)
And be patient, [O Muḥammad], and your patience is not but through Allāh. And do not grieve over them and do not be in distress over what they conspire.
16:128
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
ٱللَّهَ Allah l-laha
Allah
مَعَ (is) with maʿa
(is) with
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
ٱتَّقَوا۟ fear (Him) ittaqaw
fear (Him)
وَّٱلَّذِينَ and those who wa-alladhīna
and those who
هُم [they] hum
[they]
مُّحْسِنُونَ (are) good-doers muḥ'sinūna
(are) good-doers
١٢٨ (128)
(128)
Indeed, Allāh is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good.
