المعارج

La sourate Al-Ma'arij (المعارج) est le 70e chapitre du Saint Coran — une sourate Mecquoise de 44 versets. Les sourates mecquoises ont été révélées avant l'émigration du Prophète Muhammad (paix sur lui) à Médine et mettent souvent l'accent sur la foi, l'unicité de Dieu et l'au-delà.

بِسْمِIn (the) namebis'miٱللَّهِ(of) Allahl-lahiٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِthe Most Graciousl-raḥmāniٱلرَّحِيمِthe Most Mercifull-raḥīmi
Au nom d'Allah, le Tout Miséricordieux, le Très Miséricordieux
70:1
سَأَلَAskedsa-alaسَآئِلٌۢa questionersāilunبِعَذَابٍۢabout a punishmentbiʿadhābinوَاقِعٍۢbound to happenwāqiʿin١
Un demandeur a réclamé un châtiment inéluctable,
70:2
لِّلْكَـٰفِرِينَTo the disbelieverslil'kāfirīnaلَيْسَnotlaysaلَهُۥof itlahuدَافِعٌۭany preventerdāfiʿun٢
pour les mécréants, que nul ne pourrait repousser,
70:3
مِّنَFromminaٱللَّهِAllahl-lahiذِىOwnerdhīٱلْمَعَارِجِ(of) the ways of ascentl-maʿāriji٣
et qui vient d’Allah, le Maître des voies d’ascension.
70:4
تَعْرُجُAscendtaʿrujuٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُthe Angelsl-malāikatuوَٱلرُّوحُand the Spiritwal-rūḥuإِلَيْهِto Himilayhiفِىinfīيَوْمٍۢa Dayyawminكَانَ[is]kānaمِقْدَارُهُۥits measuremiq'dāruhuخَمْسِينَ(is) fiftykhamsīnaأَلْفَthousandalfaسَنَةٍۢyear(s)sanatin٤
Les Anges ainsi que l’Esprit montent vers Lui en un jour dont la durée est de cinquante mille ans.
70:5
فَٱصْبِرْSo be patientfa-iṣ'birصَبْرًۭاa patienceṣabranجَمِيلًاgoodjamīlan٥
Supporte donc, d’une belle patience.
70:6
إِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyinnahumيَرَوْنَهُۥsee ityarawnahuبَعِيدًۭا(as) far offbaʿīdan٦
Ils le (le châtiment) voient bien loin,
70:7
وَنَرَىٰهُBut We see itwanarāhuقَرِيبًۭاnearqarīban٧
alors que Nous le voyons bien proche,
70:8
يَوْمَ(The) Day yawmaتَكُونُwill betakūnuٱلسَّمَآءُthe skyl-samāuكَٱلْمُهْلِlike molten copperkal-muh'li٨
le jour où le ciel sera comme du métal en fusion.
70:9
وَتَكُونُAnd will bewatakūnuٱلْجِبَالُthe mountainsl-jibāluكَٱلْعِهْنِlike woolkal-ʿih'ni٩
Et les montagnes comme de la laine,
70:10
وَلَاAnd notwalāيَسْـَٔلُwill askyasaluحَمِيمٌa friendḥamīmunحَمِيمًۭا(about) a friendḥamīman١٠
où nul ami dévoué ne s’enquerra d’un ami,
70:11
يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ ۚThey will be made to see each otheryubaṣṣarūnahumيَوَدُّWould wishyawadduٱلْمُجْرِمُthe criminall-muj'rimuلَوْiflawيَفْتَدِىhe (could be) ransomedyaftadīمِنْfromminعَذَابِ(the) punishmentʿadhābiيَوْمِئِذٍۭ(of) that Dayyawmi-idhinبِبَنِيهِby his childrenbibanīhi١١
bien qu’ils se voient l’un l’autre. Le criminel aimerait pouvoir se racheter du châtiment de ce jour, en livrant ses enfants,
70:12
وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦAnd his spousewaṣāḥibatihiوَأَخِيهِand his brotherwa-akhīhi١٢
sa compagne, son frère,
70:13
وَفَصِيلَتِهِAnd his nearest kindredwafaṣīlatihiٱلَّتِىwhoallatīتُـْٔوِيهِsheltered himtu'wīhi١٣
même son clan qui lui donnait asile,
70:14
وَمَنAnd whoeverwamanفِى(is) onfīٱلْأَرْضِthe earthl-arḍiجَمِيعًۭاalljamīʿanثُمَّthenthummaيُنجِيهِit (could) save himyunjīhi١٤
et tout ce qui est sur la terre, tout, qui pourrait le sauver.
70:15
كَلَّآ ۖBy no meanskallāإِنَّهَاIndeed, it (is)innahāلَظَىٰsurely a Flame of Helllaẓā١٥
Mais rien [ne le sauvera]. [L’Enfer] est un brasier.
70:16
نَزَّاعَةًۭA removernazzāʿatanلِّلشَّوَىٰof the skin of the headlilshawā١٦
arrachant brutalement la peau du crâne.
70:17
تَدْعُوا۟Invitingtadʿūمَنْ(him) whomanأَدْبَرَturned his backadbaraوَتَوَلَّىٰand went awaywatawallā١٧
Il appellera celui qui tournait le dos et s’en allait,
70:18
وَجَمَعَAnd collectedwajamaʿaفَأَوْعَىٰٓand hoardedfa-awʿā١٨
amassait et thésaurisait.
70:19
۞ إِنَّIndeedinnaٱلْإِنسَـٰنَthe manl-insānaخُلِقَwas createdkhuliqaهَلُوعًاanxious halūʿan١٩
Oui, l’homme a été créé instable [très inquiet] ;
70:20
إِذَاWhenidhāمَسَّهُtouches himmassahuٱلشَّرُّthe evill-sharuجَزُوعًۭاdistressedjazūʿan٢٠
quand le malheur le touche, il est abattu ;
70:21
وَإِذَاAnd whenwa-idhāمَسَّهُtouches himmassahuٱلْخَيْرُthe goodl-khayruمَنُوعًاwithholdingmanūʿan٢١
et quand le bonheur le touche, il est grand refuseur.
70:22
إِلَّاExceptillāٱلْمُصَلِّينَthose who pray l-muṣalīna٢٢
Sauf ceux qui pratiquent la prière (As-Salât).
70:23
ٱلَّذِينَThose whoalladhīnaهُمْ[they]humعَلَىٰatʿalāصَلَاتِهِمْtheir prayerṣalātihimدَآئِمُونَ(are) constantdāimūna٢٣
qui sont assidu à leurs prières,
70:24
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whowa-alladhīnaفِىٓinfīأَمْوَٰلِهِمْtheir wealthamwālihimحَقٌّۭ(is) a rightḥaqqunمَّعْلُومٌۭknownmaʿlūmun٢٤
et sur les bien desquels il y a un droit bien déterminé [l'aumône]
70:25
لِّلسَّآئِلِFor the one who askslilssāiliوَٱلْمَحْرُومِand the deprivedwal-maḥrūmi٢٥
pour le mendiant et le déshérité ;
70:26
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whowa-alladhīnaيُصَدِّقُونَaccept (the) truthyuṣaddiqūnaبِيَوْمِ(of the) Daybiyawmiٱلدِّينِ(of) the Judgmentl-dīni٢٦
et qui déclarent véridique le Jour de la Rétribution,
70:27
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whowa-alladhīnaهُم[they]humمِّنْofminعَذَابِ(the) punishmentʿadhābiرَبِّهِم(of) their Lordrabbihimمُّشْفِقُونَ(are) fearful mush'fiqūna٢٧
et ceux qui craignent le châtiment de leur Seigneur.
70:28
إِنَّIndeedinnaعَذَابَ(the) punishmentʿadhābaرَبِّهِمْ(of) your Lordrabbihimغَيْرُ(is) notghayruمَأْمُونٍۢto be felt secure (of) mamūnin٢٨
Car vraiment, il n’y a nulle assurance contre le châtiment de leur Seigneur ;
70:29
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whowa-alladhīnaهُمْ[they]humلِفُرُوجِهِمْtheir modestylifurūjihimحَـٰفِظُونَ(are) guardiansḥāfiẓūna٢٩
et qui se maintiennent dans la chasteté.
70:30
إِلَّاExceptillāعَلَىٰٓfromʿalāأَزْوَٰجِهِمْtheir spousesazwājihimأَوْorawمَاwhatmāمَلَكَتْthey possessmalakatأَيْمَـٰنُهُمْrightfullyaymānuhumفَإِنَّهُمْthen indeed, theyfa-innahumغَيْرُ(are) notghayruمَلُومِينَblameworthymalūmīna٣٠
Et n’ont pas de rapports qu’avec leurs épouses ou les esclaves qu’ils possèdent car dans ce cas, ils ne sont pas blâmables,
70:31
فَمَنِBut whoeverfamaniٱبْتَغَىٰseeksib'taghāوَرَآءَbeyondwarāaذَٰلِكَthatdhālikaفَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَthen thosefa-ulāikaهُمُ[they]humuٱلْعَادُونَ(are) the transgressors l-ʿādūna٣١
mais ceux qui cherchent [leur plaisir] en dehors de cela, sont des transgresseurs ;
70:32
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whowa-alladhīnaهُمْ[they]humلِأَمَـٰنَـٰتِهِمْof their trustsli-amānātihimوَعَهْدِهِمْand their promisewaʿahdihimرَٰعُونَ(are) observersrāʿūna٣٢
et qui gardent les dépôts confiés à eux, et respectent leurs engagements scrupuleusement.
70:33
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whowa-alladhīnaهُم[they]humبِشَهَـٰدَٰتِهِمْin their testimoniesbishahādātihimقَآئِمُونَstand firmqāimūna٣٣
Et qui témoignent de la stricte vérité,
70:34
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whowa-alladhīnaهُمْ[they]humعَلَىٰonʿalāصَلَاتِهِمْtheir prayerṣalātihimيُحَافِظُونَkeep a guard yuḥāfiẓūna٣٤
et qui sont régulier dans leur prière (As-Salât).
70:35
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَThoseulāikaفِى(will be) infīجَنَّـٰتٍۢGardensjannātinمُّكْرَمُونَhonoredmuk'ramūna٣٥
Ceux-là seront honorés dans des Jardins.
70:36
فَمَالِSo what is withfamāliٱلَّذِينَthose whoalladhīnaكَفَرُوا۟disbelievekafarūقِبَلَكَbefore youqibalakaمُهْطِعِينَ(they) hastenmuh'ṭiʿīna٣٦
Qu’ont donc, ceux qui ont mécru, à courir vers toi, le cou tendu,
70:37
عَنِOnʿaniٱلْيَمِينِthe rightl-yamīniوَعَنِand onwaʿaniٱلشِّمَالِthe leftl-shimāliعِزِينَ(in) separate groupsʿizīna٣٧
de droite et de gauche, [venant] par bandes ?
70:38
أَيَطْمَعُDoes longayaṭmaʿuكُلُّeverykulluٱمْرِئٍۢpersonim'ri-inمِّنْهُمْamong themmin'humأَنthatanيُدْخَلَhe entersyud'khalaجَنَّةَa Gardenjannataنَعِيمٍۢ(of) Delightnaʿīmin٣٨
Chacun d’eux convoite-t-il qu’on le laisse entrer au Jardin des délices ?
70:39
كَلَّآ ۖBy no meanskallāإِنَّاIndeed, Weinnāخَلَقْنَـٰهُم[We] have created themkhalaqnāhumمِّمَّاfrom whatmimmāيَعْلَمُونَthey knowyaʿlamūna٣٩
Mais non ! Nous les avons créés de ce qu’ils savent .
70:40
فَلَآBut nayfalāأُقْسِمُI swearuq'simuبِرَبِّby (the) Lordbirabbiٱلْمَشَـٰرِقِ(of) the risingsl-mashāriqiوَٱلْمَغَـٰرِبِand the settingswal-maghāribiإِنَّاthat Weinnāلَقَـٰدِرُونَ(are) surely Ablelaqādirūna٤٠
Eh Non !... Je jure par le Seigneur des Levants et des Couchants que Nous sommes capables
70:41
عَلَىٰٓ[On]ʿalāأَنtoanنُّبَدِّلَ[We] replacenubaddilaخَيْرًۭا(with) betterkhayranمِّنْهُمْthan themmin'humوَمَاand notwamāنَحْنُWenaḥnuبِمَسْبُوقِينَ(are) to be outrunbimasbūqīna٤١
de les remplacer par de meilleurs qu’eux, et nul ne peut Nous en empêcher.
70:42
فَذَرْهُمْSo leave themfadharhumيَخُوضُوا۟(to) converse vainlyyakhūḍūوَيَلْعَبُوا۟and amuse themselveswayalʿabūحَتَّىٰuntilḥattāيُلَـٰقُوا۟they meetyulāqūيَوْمَهُمُtheir Dayyawmahumuٱلَّذِىwhichalladhīيُوعَدُونَthey are promisedyūʿadūna٤٢
Laisse-les donc s’enfoncer (dans leur mécréance) et se divertir jusqu’à ce qu’ils rencontrent leur jour dont on les menaçait,
70:43
يَوْمَ(The) Dayyawmaيَخْرُجُونَthey will come outyakhrujūnaمِنَfromminaٱلْأَجْدَاثِthe gravesl-ajdāthiسِرَاعًۭاrapidlysirāʿanكَأَنَّهُمْas if they (were)ka-annahumإِلَىٰtoilāنُصُبٍۢa goalnuṣubinيُوفِضُونَhasteningyūfiḍūna٤٣
le jour où ils sortiront des tombes, rapides comme s’ils couraient vers des pierres dressées ;
70:44
خَـٰشِعَةًHumbledkhāshiʿatanأَبْصَـٰرُهُمْtheir eyesightsabṣāruhumتَرْهَقُهُمْwill cover themtarhaquhumذِلَّةٌۭ ۚhumiliationdhillatunذَٰلِكَThatdhālikaٱلْيَوْمُ(is) the Dayl-yawmuٱلَّذِىwhichalladhīكَانُوا۟they werekānūيُوعَدُونَpromisedyūʿadūna٤٤
leurs yeux seront abaissés, l’avilissement les couvrira. C’est cela le jour dont on les menaçait !
