الفرقان
Bismillah
بِسْمِ In (the) name bis'mi
In (the) name
ٱللَّهِ (of) Allah l-lahi
(of) Allah
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni
the Most Gracious
ٱلرَّحِيمِ the Most Merciful l-raḥīmi
the Most Merciful
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
25:1
تَبَارَكَ Blessed is He tabāraka
Blessed is He
ٱلَّذِى Who alladhī
Who
نَزَّلَ sent down nazzala
sent down
ٱلْفُرْقَانَ the Criterion l-fur'qāna
the Criterion
عَلَىٰ upon ʿalā
upon
عَبْدِهِۦ His slave ʿabdihi
His slave
لِيَكُونَ that he may be liyakūna
that he may be
لِلْعَـٰلَمِينَ to the worlds lil'ʿālamīna
to the worlds
نَذِيرًا a warner nadhīran
a warner
١ (1)
(1)
Blessed is He who sent down the Criterion upon His Servant that he may be to the worlds a warner -
25:2
ٱلَّذِى The One Who alladhī
The One Who
لَهُۥ to Him (belongs) lahu
to Him (belongs)
مُلْكُ (the) dominion mul'ku
(the) dominion
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ (of) the heavens l-samāwāti
(of) the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
وَلَمْ and not walam
and not
يَتَّخِذْ He has taken yattakhidh
He has taken
وَلَدًۭا a son waladan
a son
وَلَمْ and not walam
and not
يَكُن He has yakun
He has
لَّهُۥ for Him lahu
for Him
شَرِيكٌۭ a partner sharīkun
a partner
فِى in
in
ٱلْمُلْكِ the dominion l-mul'ki
the dominion
وَخَلَقَ and He (has) created wakhalaqa
and He (has) created
كُلَّ every kulla
every
شَىْءٍۢ thing shayin
thing
فَقَدَّرَهُۥ and determined it faqaddarahu
and determined it
تَقْدِيرًۭا (with) determination taqdīran
(with) determination
٢ (2)
(2)
He to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and who has not taken a son and has not had a partner in dominion and has created each thing and determined it with [precise] determination.
25:3
وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟ Yet they have taken wa-ittakhadhū
Yet they have taken
مِن besides Him min
besides Him
دُونِهِۦٓ besides Him dūnihi
besides Him
ءَالِهَةًۭ gods ālihatan
gods
لَّا not
not
يَخْلُقُونَ they create yakhluqūna
they create
شَيْـًۭٔا anything shayan
anything
وَهُمْ while they wahum
while they
يُخْلَقُونَ are created yukh'laqūna
are created
وَلَا and not walā
and not
يَمْلِكُونَ they possess yamlikūna
they possess
لِأَنفُسِهِمْ for themselves li-anfusihim
for themselves
ضَرًّۭا any harm ḍarran
any harm
وَلَا and not walā
and not
نَفْعًۭا any benefit nafʿan
any benefit
وَلَا and not walā
and not
يَمْلِكُونَ they control yamlikūna
they control
مَوْتًۭا death mawtan
death
وَلَا and not walā
and not
حَيَوٰةًۭ life ḥayatan
life
وَلَا and not walā
and not
نُشُورًۭا resurrection nushūran
resurrection
٣ (3)
(3)
But they have taken besides Him gods which create nothing, while they are created, and possess not for themselves any harm or benefit and possess not [power to cause] death or life or resurrection.
25:4
وَقَالَ And say waqāla
And say
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوٓا۟ disbelieve kafarū
disbelieve
إِنْ Not in
Not
هَـٰذَآ this hādhā
this
إِلَّآ (is) but illā
(is) but
إِفْكٌ a lie if'kun
a lie
ٱفْتَرَىٰهُ he invented it if'tarāhu
he invented it
وَأَعَانَهُۥ and helped him wa-aʿānahu
and helped him
عَلَيْهِ at it ʿalayhi
at it
قَوْمٌ people qawmun
people
ءَاخَرُونَ ۖ other ākharūna
other
فَقَدْ But verily faqad
But verily
جَآءُو they (have) produced jāū
they (have) produced
ظُلْمًۭا an injustice ẓul'man
an injustice
وَزُورًۭا and a lie wazūran
and a lie
٤ (4)
(4)
And those who disbelieve say, "This [Qur’ān] is not except a falsehood he invented, and another people assisted him in it." But they have committed an injustice and a lie.
25:5
وَقَالُوٓا۟ And they say waqālū
And they say
أَسَـٰطِيرُ Tales asāṭīru
Tales
ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ (of) the former people l-awalīna
(of) the former people
ٱكْتَتَبَهَا which he has had written ik'tatabahā
which he has had written
فَهِىَ and they fahiya
and they
تُمْلَىٰ are dictated tum'lā
are dictated
عَلَيْهِ to him ʿalayhi
to him
بُكْرَةًۭ morning buk'ratan
morning
وَأَصِيلًۭا and evening wa-aṣīlan
and evening
٥ (5)
(5)
And they say, "Legends of the former peoples which he has written down, and they are dictated to him morning and afternoon."
25:6
قُلْ Say qul
Say
أَنزَلَهُ Has sent it down anzalahu
Has sent it down
ٱلَّذِى the One Who alladhī
the One Who
يَعْلَمُ knows yaʿlamu
knows
ٱلسِّرَّ the secret l-sira
the secret
فِى in
in
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ and the earth wal-arḍi
and the earth
إِنَّهُۥ Indeed, He innahu
Indeed, He
كَانَ is kāna
is
غَفُورًۭا Oft-Forgiving ghafūran
Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمًۭا Most Merciful raḥīman
Most Merciful
٦ (6)
(6)
Say, [O Muḥammad], "It has been revealed by He who knows [every] secret within the heavens and the earth. Indeed, He is ever Forgiving and Merciful."
25:7
وَقَالُوا۟ And they say waqālū
And they say
مَالِ Why does māli
Why does
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
ٱلرَّسُولِ Messenger l-rasūli
Messenger
يَأْكُلُ eat yakulu
eat
ٱلطَّعَامَ [the] food l-ṭaʿāma
[the] food
وَيَمْشِى and walk wayamshī
and walk
فِى in
in
ٱلْأَسْوَاقِ ۙ the markets l-aswāqi
the markets
لَوْلَآ Why not lawlā
Why not
أُنزِلَ is sent down unzila
is sent down
إِلَيْهِ to him ilayhi
to him
مَلَكٌۭ an Angel malakun
an Angel
فَيَكُونَ then he be fayakūna
then he be
مَعَهُۥ with him maʿahu
with him
نَذِيرًا a warner nadhīran
a warner
٧ (7)
(7)
And they say, "What is this messenger that eats food and walks in the markets? Why was there not sent down to him an angel so he would be with him a warner?
25:8
أَوْ Or aw
Or
يُلْقَىٰٓ is delivered yul'qā
is delivered
إِلَيْهِ to him ilayhi
to him
كَنزٌ a treasure kanzun
a treasure
أَوْ or aw
or
تَكُونُ is takūnu
is
لَهُۥ for him lahu
for him
جَنَّةٌۭ a garden jannatun
a garden
يَأْكُلُ he may eat yakulu
he may eat
مِنْهَا ۚ from it min'hā
from it
وَقَالَ And say waqāla
And say
ٱلظَّـٰلِمُونَ the wrongdoers l-ẓālimūna
the wrongdoers
إِن Not in
Not
تَتَّبِعُونَ you follow tattabiʿūna
you follow
إِلَّا but illā
but
رَجُلًۭا a man rajulan
a man
مَّسْحُورًا bewitched masḥūran
bewitched
٨ (8)
(8)
Or [why is not] a treasure presented to him [from heaven], or does he [not] have a garden from which he eats?" And the wrongdoers say, "You follow not but a man affected by magic."
25:9
ٱنظُرْ See unẓur
See
كَيْفَ how kayfa
how
ضَرَبُوا۟ they set forth ḍarabū
they set forth
لَكَ for you laka
for you
ٱلْأَمْثَـٰلَ the similitudes l-amthāla
the similitudes
فَضَلُّوا۟ but they have gone astray faḍallū
but they have gone astray
فَلَا so not falā
so not
يَسْتَطِيعُونَ they are able (to find) yastaṭīʿūna
they are able (to find)
سَبِيلًۭا a way sabīlan
a way
٩ (9)
(9)
Look how they strike for you comparisons; but they have strayed, so they cannot [find] a way.
25:10
تَبَارَكَ Blessed is He tabāraka
Blessed is He
ٱلَّذِىٓ Who alladhī
Who
إِن if in
if
شَآءَ He willed shāa
He willed
جَعَلَ (could have) made jaʿala
(could have) made
لَكَ for you laka
for you
خَيْرًۭا better khayran
better
مِّن than min
than
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
جَنَّـٰتٍۢ gardens jannātin
gardens
تَجْرِى flow tajrī
flow
مِن from min
from
تَحْتِهَا underneath it taḥtihā
underneath it
ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ the rivers l-anhāru
the rivers
وَيَجْعَل and He (could) make wayajʿal
and He (could) make
لَّكَ for you laka
for you
قُصُورًۢا palaces quṣūran
palaces
١٠ (10)
(10)
Blessed is He who, if He willed, could have made for you [something] better than that - gardens beneath which rivers flow - and could make for you palaces.
25:11
بَلْ Nay bal
Nay
كَذَّبُوا۟ they deny kadhabū
they deny
بِٱلسَّاعَةِ ۖ the Hour bil-sāʿati
the Hour
وَأَعْتَدْنَا and We have prepared wa-aʿtadnā
and We have prepared
لِمَن for (those) who liman
for (those) who
كَذَّبَ deny kadhaba
deny
بِٱلسَّاعَةِ the Hour bil-sāʿati
the Hour
سَعِيرًا a Blazing Fire saʿīran
a Blazing Fire
١١ (11)
(11)
But they have denied the Hour, and We have prepared for those who deny the Hour a Blaze.
25:12
إِذَا When idhā
When
رَأَتْهُم it sees them ra-athum
it sees them
مِّن from min
from
مَّكَانٍۭ a place makānin
a place
بَعِيدٍۢ far baʿīdin
far
سَمِعُوا۟ they will hear samiʿū
they will hear
لَهَا its lahā
its
تَغَيُّظًۭا raging taghayyuẓan
raging
وَزَفِيرًۭا and roaring wazafīran
and roaring
١٢ (12)
(12)
When it [i.e., the Hellfire] sees them from a distant place, they will hear its fury and roaring.
25:13
وَإِذَآ And when wa-idhā
And when
أُلْقُوا۟ they are thrown ul'qū
they are thrown
مِنْهَا thereof min'hā
thereof
مَكَانًۭا (in) a place makānan
(in) a place
ضَيِّقًۭا narrow ḍayyiqan
narrow
مُّقَرَّنِينَ bound in chains muqarranīna
bound in chains
دَعَوْا۟ they will call daʿaw
they will call
هُنَالِكَ there hunālika
there
ثُبُورًۭا (for) destruction thubūran
(for) destruction
١٣ (13)
(13)
And when they are thrown into a narrow place therein bound in chains, they will cry out thereupon for destruction.
25:14
لَّا (Do) not
(Do) not
تَدْعُوا۟ call tadʿū
call
ٱلْيَوْمَ this day l-yawma
this day
ثُبُورًۭا (for) destruction thubūran
(for) destruction
وَٰحِدًۭا one wāḥidan
one
وَٱدْعُوا۟ but call wa-id'ʿū
but call
ثُبُورًۭا (for) destructions thubūran
(for) destructions
كَثِيرًۭا many kathīran
many
١٤ (14)
(14)
[They will be told], "Do not cry this Day for one destruction but cry for much destruction."
25:15
قُلْ Say qul
Say
أَذَٰلِكَ Is that adhālika
Is that
خَيْرٌ better khayrun
better
أَمْ or am
or
جَنَّةُ Garden jannatu
Garden
ٱلْخُلْدِ (of) Eternity l-khul'di
(of) Eternity
ٱلَّتِى which allatī
which
وُعِدَ is promised wuʿida
is promised
ٱلْمُتَّقُونَ ۚ (to) the righteous l-mutaqūna
(to) the righteous
كَانَتْ It will be kānat
It will be
لَهُمْ for them lahum
for them
جَزَآءًۭ a reward jazāan
a reward
وَمَصِيرًۭا and destination wamaṣīran
and destination
١٥ (15)
(15)
Say, "Is that better or the Garden of Eternity which is promised to the righteous? It will be for them a reward and destination.
25:16
لَّهُمْ For them lahum
For them
فِيهَا therein fīhā
therein
مَا (is) whatever
(is) whatever
يَشَآءُونَ they wish yashāūna
they wish
خَـٰلِدِينَ ۚ they will abide forever khālidīna
they will abide forever
كَانَ It is kāna
It is
عَلَىٰ on ʿalā
on
رَبِّكَ your Lord rabbika
your Lord
وَعْدًۭا a promise waʿdan
a promise
مَّسْـُٔولًۭا requested masūlan
requested
١٦ (16)
(16)
For them therein is whatever they wish, [while] abiding eternally. It is ever upon your Lord a promise [worthy to be] requested.
25:17
وَيَوْمَ And (the) Day wayawma
And (the) Day
يَحْشُرُهُمْ He will gather them yaḥshuruhum
He will gather them
وَمَا and what wamā
and what
يَعْبُدُونَ they worship yaʿbudūna
they worship
مِن besides Allah min
besides Allah
دُونِ besides Allah dūni
besides Allah
ٱللَّهِ besides Allah l-lahi
besides Allah
فَيَقُولُ and He will say fayaqūlu
and He will say
ءَأَنتُمْ Did you a-antum
Did you
أَضْلَلْتُمْ [you] mislead aḍlaltum
[you] mislead
عِبَادِى My slaves ʿibādī
My slaves
هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ these hāulāi
these
أَمْ or am
or
هُمْ they hum
they
ضَلُّوا۟ went astray ḍallū
went astray
ٱلسَّبِيلَ (from) the way l-sabīla
(from) the way
١٧ (17)
(17)
And [mention] the Day He will gather them and that which they worship besides Allāh and will say, "Did you mislead these, My servants, or did they [themselves] stray from the way?"
25:18
قَالُوا۟ They say qālū
They say
سُبْحَـٰنَكَ Glory be to You sub'ḥānaka
Glory be to You
مَا Not
Not
كَانَ it was proper kāna
it was proper
يَنۢبَغِى it was proper yanbaghī
it was proper
لَنَآ for us lanā
for us
أَن that an
that
نَّتَّخِذَ we take nattakhidha
we take
مِن besides You min
besides You
دُونِكَ besides You dūnika
besides You
مِنْ any min
any
أَوْلِيَآءَ protectors awliyāa
protectors
وَلَـٰكِن But walākin
But
مَّتَّعْتَهُمْ You gave them comforts mattaʿtahum
You gave them comforts
وَءَابَآءَهُمْ and their forefathers waābāahum
and their forefathers
حَتَّىٰ until ḥattā
until
نَسُوا۟ they forgot nasū
they forgot
ٱلذِّكْرَ the Message l-dhik'ra
the Message
وَكَانُوا۟ and became wakānū
and became
قَوْمًۢا a people qawman
a people
بُورًۭا ruined būran
ruined
١٨ (18)
(18)
They will say, "Exalted are You! It was not for us to take besides You any allies [i.e., protectors]. But You provided comforts for them and their fathers until they forgot the message and became a people ruined."
25:19
فَقَدْ So verily faqad
So verily
كَذَّبُوكُم they deny you kadhabūkum
they deny you
بِمَا in what bimā
in what
تَقُولُونَ you say taqūlūna
you say
فَمَا so not famā
so not
تَسْتَطِيعُونَ you are able tastaṭīʿūna
you are able
صَرْفًۭا (to) avert ṣarfan
(to) avert
وَلَا and not walā
and not
نَصْرًۭا ۚ (to) help naṣran
(to) help
وَمَن And whoever waman
And whoever
يَظْلِم does wrong yaẓlim
does wrong
مِّنكُمْ among you minkum
among you
نُذِقْهُ We will make him taste nudhiq'hu
We will make him taste
عَذَابًۭا a punishment ʿadhāban
a punishment
كَبِيرًۭا great kabīran
great
١٩ (19)
(19)
So they will deny you, [disbelievers], in what you say, and you cannot avert [punishment] or [find] help. And whoever commits injustice among you - We will make him taste a great punishment.
25:20
وَمَآ And not wamā
And not
أَرْسَلْنَا We sent arsalnā
We sent
قَبْلَكَ before you qablaka
before you
مِنَ any mina
any
ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ Messengers l-mur'salīna
Messengers
إِلَّآ but illā
but
إِنَّهُمْ indeed, they innahum
indeed, they
لَيَأْكُلُونَ [surely] ate layakulūna
[surely] ate
ٱلطَّعَامَ food l-ṭaʿāma
food
وَيَمْشُونَ and walked wayamshūna
and walked
فِى in
in
ٱلْأَسْوَاقِ ۗ the markets l-aswāqi
the markets
وَجَعَلْنَا And We have made wajaʿalnā
And We have made
بَعْضَكُمْ some of you baʿḍakum
some of you
لِبَعْضٍۢ for others libaʿḍin
for others
فِتْنَةً a trial fit'natan
a trial
أَتَصْبِرُونَ ۗ will you have patience ataṣbirūna
will you have patience
وَكَانَ And is wakāna
And is
رَبُّكَ your Lord rabbuka
your Lord
بَصِيرًۭا All-Seer baṣīran
All-Seer
٢٠ (20)
(20)
And We did not send before you, [O Muḥammad], any of the messengers except that they ate food and walked in the markets. And We have made some of you [people] as trial for others - will you have patience? And ever is your Lord, Seeing.
25:21
۞ وَقَالَ And said waqāla
And said
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يَرْجُونَ expect yarjūna
expect
لِقَآءَنَا (the) meeting with Us liqāanā
(the) meeting with Us
لَوْلَآ Why not lawlā
Why not
أُنزِلَ are sent down unzila
are sent down
عَلَيْنَا to us ʿalaynā
to us
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ the Angels l-malāikatu
the Angels
أَوْ or aw
or
نَرَىٰ we see narā
we see
رَبَّنَا ۗ our Lord rabbanā
our Lord
لَقَدِ Indeed laqadi
Indeed
ٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ they have become arrogant is'takbarū
they have become arrogant
فِىٓ within
within
أَنفُسِهِمْ themselves anfusihim
themselves
وَعَتَوْ and (become) insolent waʿataw
and (become) insolent
عُتُوًّۭا (with) insolence ʿutuwwan
(with) insolence
كَبِيرًۭا great kabīran
great
٢١ (21)
(21)
And those who do not expect the meeting with Us say, "Why were not angels sent down to us, or [why] do we [not] see our Lord?" They have certainly become arrogant within themselves and [become] insolent with great insolence.
25:22
يَوْمَ (The) Day yawma
(The) Day
يَرَوْنَ they see yarawna
they see
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةَ the Angels l-malāikata
the Angels
لَا no
no
بُشْرَىٰ glad tidings bush'rā
glad tidings
يَوْمَئِذٍۢ (will be) that Day yawma-idhin
(will be) that Day
لِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ for the criminals lil'muj'rimīna
for the criminals
وَيَقُولُونَ and they will say wayaqūlūna
and they will say
حِجْرًۭا A partition ḥij'ran
A partition
مَّحْجُورًۭا forbidden maḥjūran
forbidden
٢٢ (22)
(22)
The day they see the angels - no good tidings will there be that day for the criminals, and [the angels] will say, "Prevented and inaccessible."2
25:23
وَقَدِمْنَآ And We will proceed waqadim'nā
And We will proceed
إِلَىٰ to ilā
to
مَا whatever
whatever
عَمِلُوا۟ they did ʿamilū
they did
مِنْ of min
of
عَمَلٍۢ (the) deed(s) ʿamalin
(the) deed(s)
فَجَعَلْنَـٰهُ and We will make them fajaʿalnāhu
and We will make them
هَبَآءًۭ (as) dust habāan
(as) dust
مَّنثُورًا dispersed manthūran
dispersed
٢٣ (23)
(23)
And We will approach [i.e., regard]1 what they have done of deeds and make them as dust dispersed.
25:24
أَصْحَـٰبُ (The) companions aṣḥābu
(The) companions
ٱلْجَنَّةِ (of) Paradise l-janati
(of) Paradise
يَوْمَئِذٍ that Day yawma-idhin
that Day
خَيْرٌۭ (will be in) a better khayrun
(will be in) a better
مُّسْتَقَرًّۭا abode mus'taqarran
abode
وَأَحْسَنُ and a better wa-aḥsanu
and a better
مَقِيلًۭا resting-place maqīlan
resting-place
٢٤ (24)
(24)
The companions of Paradise, that Day, are [in] a better settlement and better resting place.
25:25
وَيَوْمَ And (the) Day wayawma
And (the) Day
تَشَقَّقُ will split open tashaqqaqu
will split open
ٱلسَّمَآءُ the heavens l-samāu
the heavens
بِٱلْغَمَـٰمِ with the clouds bil-ghamāmi
with the clouds
وَنُزِّلَ and (will be) sent down wanuzzila
and (will be) sent down
ٱلْمَلَـٰٓئِكَةُ the Angels l-malāikatu
the Angels
تَنزِيلًا descending tanzīlan
descending
٢٥ (25)
(25)
And [mention] the Day when the heaven will split open with [emerging] clouds, and the angels will be sent down in successive descent.
25:26
ٱلْمُلْكُ The Sovereignty al-mul'ku
The Sovereignty
يَوْمَئِذٍ that Day yawma-idhin
that Day
ٱلْحَقُّ (will be) truly l-ḥaqu
(will be) truly
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ۚ for the Most Gracious lilrraḥmāni
for the Most Gracious
وَكَانَ And (it will) be wakāna
And (it will) be
يَوْمًا a Day yawman
a Day
عَلَى for ʿalā
for
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ the disbelievers l-kāfirīna
the disbelievers
عَسِيرًۭا difficult ʿasīran
difficult
٢٦ (26)
(26)
True sovereignty, that Day, is for the Most Merciful. And it will be upon the disbelievers a difficult Day.
25:27
وَيَوْمَ And (the) Day wayawma
And (the) Day
يَعَضُّ will bite yaʿaḍḍu
will bite
ٱلظَّالِمُ the wrongdoer l-ẓālimu
the wrongdoer
عَلَىٰ [on] ʿalā
[on]
يَدَيْهِ his hands yadayhi
his hands
يَقُولُ he will say yaqūlu
he will say
يَـٰلَيْتَنِى O I wish yālaytanī
O I wish
ٱتَّخَذْتُ I had taken ittakhadhtu
I had taken
مَعَ with maʿa
with
ٱلرَّسُولِ the Messenger l-rasūli
the Messenger
سَبِيلًۭا a way sabīlan
a way
٢٧ (27)
(27)
And the Day the wrongdoer will bite on his hands [in regret] he will say, "Oh, I wish I had taken with the Messenger a way.
25:28
يَـٰوَيْلَتَىٰ O woe to me yāwaylatā
O woe to me
لَيْتَنِى I wish laytanī
I wish
لَمْ not lam
not
أَتَّخِذْ I had taken attakhidh
I had taken
فُلَانًا that one fulānan
that one
خَلِيلًۭا (as) a friend khalīlan
(as) a friend
٢٨ (28)
(28)
Oh, woe to me! I wish I had not taken that one as a friend.
25:29
لَّقَدْ Verily laqad
Verily
أَضَلَّنِى he led me astray aḍallanī
he led me astray
عَنِ from ʿani
from
ٱلذِّكْرِ the Reminder l-dhik'ri
the Reminder
بَعْدَ after baʿda
after
إِذْ [when] idh
[when]
جَآءَنِى ۗ it (had) come to me jāanī
it (had) come to me
وَكَانَ And is wakāna
And is
ٱلشَّيْطَـٰنُ the Shaitaan l-shayṭānu
the Shaitaan
لِلْإِنسَـٰنِ to the man lil'insāni
to the man
خَذُولًۭا a deserter khadhūlan
a deserter
٢٩ (29)
(29)
He led me away from the remembrance after it had come to me. And ever is Satan, to man, a deserter."2
25:30
وَقَالَ And said waqāla
And said
ٱلرَّسُولُ the Messenger l-rasūlu
the Messenger
يَـٰرَبِّ O my Lord yārabbi
O my Lord
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
قَوْمِى my people qawmī
my people
ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ took ittakhadhū
took
هَـٰذَا this hādhā
this
ٱلْقُرْءَانَ the Quran l-qur'āna
the Quran
مَهْجُورًۭا (as) a forsaken thing mahjūran
(as) a forsaken thing
٣٠ (30)
(30)
And the Messenger has said, "O my Lord, indeed my people have taken this Qur’ān as [a thing] abandoned."1
25:31
وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus wakadhālika
And thus
جَعَلْنَا We have made jaʿalnā
We have made
لِكُلِّ for every likulli
for every
نَبِىٍّ Prophet nabiyyin
Prophet
عَدُوًّۭا an enemy ʿaduwwan
an enemy
مِّنَ among mina
among
ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ ۗ the criminals l-muj'rimīna
the criminals
وَكَفَىٰ But sufficient is wakafā
But sufficient is
بِرَبِّكَ your Lord birabbika
your Lord
هَادِيًۭا (as) a Guide hādiyan
(as) a Guide
وَنَصِيرًۭا and a Helper wanaṣīran
and a Helper
٣١ (31)
(31)
And thus have We made for every prophet an enemy from among the criminals. But sufficient is your Lord as a guide and a helper.
25:32
وَقَالَ And said waqāla
And said
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
كَفَرُوا۟ disbelieve kafarū
disbelieve
لَوْلَا Why not lawlā
Why not
نُزِّلَ was revealed nuzzila
was revealed
عَلَيْهِ to him ʿalayhi
to him
ٱلْقُرْءَانُ the Quran l-qur'ānu
the Quran
جُمْلَةًۭ all at once jum'latan
all at once
وَٰحِدَةًۭ ۚ all at once wāḥidatan
all at once
كَذَٰلِكَ Thus kadhālika
Thus
لِنُثَبِّتَ that We may strengthen linuthabbita
that We may strengthen
بِهِۦ thereby bihi
thereby
فُؤَادَكَ ۖ your heart fuādaka
your heart
وَرَتَّلْنَـٰهُ and We have recited it warattalnāhu
and We have recited it
تَرْتِيلًۭا (with distinct) recitation tartīlan
(with distinct) recitation
٣٢ (32)
(32)
And those who disbelieve say, "Why was the Qur’ān not revealed to him all at once?" Thus [it is] that We may strengthen thereby your heart. And We have spaced it distinctly.
25:33
وَلَا And not walā
And not
يَأْتُونَكَ they come to you yatūnaka
they come to you
بِمَثَلٍ with an example bimathalin
with an example
إِلَّا but illā
but
جِئْنَـٰكَ We bring you ji'nāka
We bring you
بِٱلْحَقِّ the truth bil-ḥaqi
the truth
وَأَحْسَنَ and (the) best wa-aḥsana
and (the) best
تَفْسِيرًا explanation tafsīran
explanation
٣٣ (33)
(33)
And they do not come to you with an example [i.e., argument] except that We bring you the truth and the best explanation.
25:34
ٱلَّذِينَ Those who alladhīna
Those who
يُحْشَرُونَ will be gathered yuḥ'sharūna
will be gathered
عَلَىٰ on ʿalā
on
وُجُوهِهِمْ their faces wujūhihim
their faces
إِلَىٰ to ilā
to
جَهَنَّمَ Hell jahannama
Hell
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ those ulāika
those
شَرٌّۭ (are the) worst sharrun
(are the) worst
مَّكَانًۭا (in) position makānan
(in) position
وَأَضَلُّ and most astray wa-aḍallu
and most astray
سَبِيلًۭا (from the) way sabīlan
(from the) way
٣٤ (34)
(34)
The ones who are gathered on their faces to Hell - those are the worst in position and farthest astray in [their] way.
25:35
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad
And verily
ءَاتَيْنَا We gave ātaynā
We gave
مُوسَى Musa mūsā
Musa
ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ the Scripture l-kitāba
the Scripture
وَجَعَلْنَا and We appointed wajaʿalnā
and We appointed
مَعَهُۥٓ with him maʿahu
with him
أَخَاهُ his brother akhāhu
his brother
هَـٰرُونَ Harun hārūna
Harun
وَزِيرًۭا (as) an assistant wazīran
(as) an assistant
٣٥ (35)
(35)
And We had certainly given Moses the Scripture and appointed with him his brother Aaron as an assistant.
25:36
فَقُلْنَا Then We said faqul'nā
Then We said
ٱذْهَبَآ Go both of you idh'habā
Go both of you
إِلَى to ilā
to
ٱلْقَوْمِ the people l-qawmi
the people
ٱلَّذِينَ those who alladhīna
those who
كَذَّبُوا۟ have denied kadhabū
have denied
بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا Our Signs biāyātinā
Our Signs
فَدَمَّرْنَـٰهُمْ Then We destroyed them fadammarnāhum
Then We destroyed them
تَدْمِيرًۭا (with) destruction tadmīran
(with) destruction
٣٦ (36)
(36)
And We said, "Go both of you to the people who have denied Our signs." Then We destroyed them with [complete] destruction.
25:37
وَقَوْمَ And (the) people waqawma
And (the) people
نُوحٍۢ (of) Nuh nūḥin
(of) Nuh
لَّمَّا when lammā
when
كَذَّبُوا۟ they denied kadhabū
they denied
ٱلرُّسُلَ the Messengers l-rusula
the Messengers
أَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْ We drowned them aghraqnāhum
We drowned them
وَجَعَلْنَـٰهُمْ and We made them wajaʿalnāhum
and We made them
لِلنَّاسِ for mankind lilnnāsi
for mankind
ءَايَةًۭ ۖ a sign āyatan
a sign
وَأَعْتَدْنَا And We have prepared wa-aʿtadnā
And We have prepared
لِلظَّـٰلِمِينَ for the wrongdoers lilẓẓālimīna
for the wrongdoers
عَذَابًا a punishment ʿadhāban
a punishment
أَلِيمًۭا painful alīman
painful
٣٧ (37)
(37)
And the people of Noah - when they denied the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them for mankind a sign. And We have prepared for the wrongdoers a painful punishment.
25:38
وَعَادًۭا And Ad waʿādan
And Ad
وَثَمُودَا۟ and Thamud wathamūdā
and Thamud
وَأَصْحَـٰبَ and (the) dwellers wa-aṣḥāba
and (the) dwellers
ٱلرَّسِّ (of) Ar-rass l-rasi
(of) Ar-rass
وَقُرُونًۢا and generations waqurūnan
and generations
بَيْنَ between bayna
between
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
كَثِيرًۭا many kathīran
many
٣٨ (38)
(38)
And [We destroyed] ʿAad and Thamūd and the companions of the well and many generations between them.
25:39
وَكُلًّۭا And each wakullan
And each
ضَرَبْنَا We have set forth ḍarabnā
We have set forth
لَهُ for him lahu
for him
ٱلْأَمْثَـٰلَ ۖ the examples l-amthāla
the examples
وَكُلًّۭا and each wakullan
and each
تَبَّرْنَا We destroyed tabbarnā
We destroyed
تَتْبِيرًۭا (with) destruction tatbīran
(with) destruction
٣٩ (39)
(39)
And for each We presented examples [as warnings], and each We destroyed with [total] destruction.
25:40
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad
And verily
أَتَوْا۟ they have come ataw
they have come
عَلَى upon ʿalā
upon
ٱلْقَرْيَةِ the town l-qaryati
the town
ٱلَّتِىٓ which allatī
which
أُمْطِرَتْ was showered um'ṭirat
was showered
مَطَرَ (with) a rain maṭara
(with) a rain
ٱلسَّوْءِ ۚ (of) evil l-sawi
(of) evil
أَفَلَمْ Then do not afalam
Then do not
يَكُونُوا۟ they [were] yakūnū
they [were]
يَرَوْنَهَا ۚ see it yarawnahā
see it
بَلْ Nay bal
Nay
كَانُوا۟ they are kānū
they are
لَا not
not
يَرْجُونَ expecting yarjūna
expecting
نُشُورًۭا Resurrection nushūran
Resurrection
٤٠ (40)
(40)
And they have already come upon the town which was showered with a rain of evil [i.e., stones]. So have they not seen it? But they are not expecting resurrection.
25:41
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
رَأَوْكَ they see you ra-awka
they see you
إِن not in
not
يَتَّخِذُونَكَ they take you yattakhidhūnaka
they take you
إِلَّا except illā
except
هُزُوًا (in) mockery huzuwan
(in) mockery
أَهَـٰذَا Is this ahādhā
Is this
ٱلَّذِى the one whom alladhī
the one whom
بَعَثَ Allah has sent baʿatha
Allah has sent
ٱللَّهُ Allah has sent l-lahu
Allah has sent
رَسُولًا (as) a Messenger rasūlan
(as) a Messenger
٤١ (41)
(41)
And when they see you, [O Muḥammad], they take you not except in ridicule, [saying], "Is this the one whom Allāh has sent as a messenger?
25:42
إِن He would have almost in
He would have almost
كَادَ He would have almost kāda
He would have almost
لَيُضِلُّنَا [surely] misled us layuḍillunā
[surely] misled us
عَنْ from ʿan
from
ءَالِهَتِنَا our gods ālihatinā
our gods
لَوْلَآ if not lawlā
if not
أَن that an
that
صَبَرْنَا we had been steadfast ṣabarnā
we had been steadfast
عَلَيْهَا ۚ to them ʿalayhā
to them
وَسَوْفَ And soon wasawfa
And soon
يَعْلَمُونَ will know yaʿlamūna
will know
حِينَ when ḥīna
when
يَرَوْنَ they will see yarawna
they will see
ٱلْعَذَابَ the punishment l-ʿadhāba
the punishment
مَنْ who man
who
أَضَلُّ (is) more astray aḍallu
(is) more astray
سَبِيلًا (from the) way sabīlan
(from the) way
٤٢ (42)
(42)
He almost would have misled us from our gods had we not been steadfast in [worship of] them." But they are going to know, when they see the punishment, who is farthest astray in [his] way.
25:43
أَرَءَيْتَ Have you seen ara-ayta
Have you seen
مَنِ (one) who mani
(one) who
ٱتَّخَذَ takes ittakhadha
takes
إِلَـٰهَهُۥ (as) his god ilāhahu
(as) his god
هَوَىٰهُ his own desire hawāhu
his own desire
أَفَأَنتَ Then would you afa-anta
Then would you
تَكُونُ be takūnu
be
عَلَيْهِ over him ʿalayhi
over him
وَكِيلًا a guardian wakīlan
a guardian
٤٣ (43)
(43)
Have you seen the one who takes as his god his own desire? Then would you be responsible for him?
25:44
أَمْ Or am
Or
تَحْسَبُ do you think taḥsabu
do you think
أَنَّ that anna
that
أَكْثَرَهُمْ most of them aktharahum
most of them
يَسْمَعُونَ hear yasmaʿūna
hear
أَوْ or aw
or
يَعْقِلُونَ ۚ understand yaʿqilūna
understand
إِنْ Not in
Not
هُمْ they hum
they
إِلَّا (are) except illā
(are) except
كَٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ ۖ like cattle kal-anʿāmi
like cattle
بَلْ Nay bal
Nay
هُمْ they hum
they
أَضَلُّ (are) more astray aḍallu
(are) more astray
سَبِيلًا (from the) way sabīlan
(from the) way
٤٤ (44)
(44)
Or do you think that most of them hear or reason? They are not except like livestock. Rather, they are [even] more astray in [their] way.
25:45
أَلَمْ Do you not alam
Do you not
تَرَ see tara
see
إِلَىٰ [to] ilā
[to]
رَبِّكَ your Lord rabbika
your Lord
كَيْفَ how kayfa
how
مَدَّ He extends madda
He extends
ٱلظِّلَّ the shadow l-ẓila
the shadow
وَلَوْ And if walaw
And if
شَآءَ He willed shāa
He willed
لَجَعَلَهُۥ surely He (could) have made it lajaʿalahu
surely He (could) have made it
سَاكِنًۭا stationary sākinan
stationary
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
جَعَلْنَا We made jaʿalnā
We made
ٱلشَّمْسَ the sun l-shamsa
the sun
عَلَيْهِ for it ʿalayhi
for it
دَلِيلًۭا an indication dalīlan
an indication
٤٥ (45)
(45)
Have you not considered your Lord - how He extends the shadow, and if He willed, He could have made it stationary? Then We made the sun for it an indication.
25:46
ثُمَّ Then thumma
Then
قَبَضْنَـٰهُ We withdraw it qabaḍnāhu
We withdraw it
إِلَيْنَا to Us ilaynā
to Us
قَبْضًۭا a withdrawal qabḍan
a withdrawal
يَسِيرًۭا gradual yasīran
gradual
٤٦ (46)
(46)
Then We [retract and] hold it with Us for a brief grasp.
25:47
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa
And He
ٱلَّذِى (is) the One Who alladhī
(is) the One Who
جَعَلَ made jaʿala
made
لَكُمُ for you lakumu
for you
ٱلَّيْلَ the night al-layla
the night
لِبَاسًۭا (as) a covering libāsan
(as) a covering
وَٱلنَّوْمَ and the sleep wal-nawma
and the sleep
سُبَاتًۭا a rest subātan
a rest
وَجَعَلَ and made wajaʿala
and made
ٱلنَّهَارَ the day l-nahāra
the day
نُشُورًۭا a resurrection nushūran
a resurrection
٤٧ (47)
(47)
And it is He who has made the night for you as clothing and sleep [a means for] rest and has made the day a resurrection.
25:48
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa
And He
ٱلَّذِىٓ (is) the One Who alladhī
(is) the One Who
أَرْسَلَ sends arsala
sends
ٱلرِّيَـٰحَ the winds l-riyāḥa
the winds
بُشْرًۢا (as) glad tidings bush'ran
(as) glad tidings
بَيْنَ before bayna
before
يَدَىْ before yaday
before
رَحْمَتِهِۦ ۚ His Mercy raḥmatihi
His Mercy
وَأَنزَلْنَا and We send down wa-anzalnā
and We send down
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلسَّمَآءِ the sky l-samāi
the sky
مَآءًۭ water māan
water
طَهُورًۭا pure ṭahūran
pure
٤٨ (48)
(48)
And it is He who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy [i.e., rainfall], and We send down from the sky pure water
25:49
لِّنُحْـِۧىَ That We may give life linuḥ'yiya
That We may give life
بِهِۦ thereby bihi
thereby
بَلْدَةًۭ (to) a land baldatan
(to) a land
مَّيْتًۭا dead maytan
dead
وَنُسْقِيَهُۥ and We give drink wanus'qiyahu
and We give drink
مِمَّا thereof mimmā
thereof
خَلَقْنَآ (to those) We created khalaqnā
(to those) We created
أَنْعَـٰمًۭا cattle anʿāman
cattle
وَأَنَاسِىَّ and men wa-anāsiyya
and men
كَثِيرًۭا many kathīran
many
٤٩ (49)
(49)
That We may bring to life thereby a dead land and give it as drink to those We created of numerous livestock and men.
25:50
وَلَقَدْ And verily walaqad
And verily
صَرَّفْنَـٰهُ We have distributed it ṣarrafnāhu
We have distributed it
بَيْنَهُمْ among them baynahum
among them
لِيَذَّكَّرُوا۟ that they may remember liyadhakkarū
that they may remember
فَأَبَىٰٓ but refuse fa-abā
but refuse
أَكْثَرُ most aktharu
most
ٱلنَّاسِ (of) the people l-nāsi
(of) the people
إِلَّا except illā
except
كُفُورًۭا disbelief kufūran
disbelief
٥٠ (50)
(50)
And We have certainly distributed it among them that they might be reminded, but most of the people refuse except disbelief.
25:51
وَلَوْ And if walaw
And if
شِئْنَا We willed shi'nā
We willed
لَبَعَثْنَا surely, We (would) have raised labaʿathnā
surely, We (would) have raised
فِى in
in
كُلِّ every kulli
every
قَرْيَةٍۢ town qaryatin
town
نَّذِيرًۭا a warner nadhīran
a warner
٥١ (51)
(51)
And if We had willed, We could have sent into every city a warner.
25:52
فَلَا So (do) not falā
So (do) not
تُطِعِ obey tuṭiʿi
obey
ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ the disbelievers l-kāfirīna
the disbelievers
وَجَـٰهِدْهُم and strive (against) them wajāhid'hum
and strive (against) them
بِهِۦ with it bihi
with it
جِهَادًۭا a striving jihādan
a striving
كَبِيرًۭا great kabīran
great
٥٢ (52)
(52)
So do not obey the disbelievers, and strive against them with it [i.e., the Qur’ān] a great striving.
25:53
۞ وَهُوَ And He wahuwa
And He
ٱلَّذِى (is) the One Who alladhī
(is) the One Who
مَرَجَ (has) released maraja
(has) released
ٱلْبَحْرَيْنِ the two seas l-baḥrayni
the two seas
هَـٰذَا [this] (one) hādhā
[this] (one)
عَذْبٌۭ palatable ʿadhbun
palatable
فُرَاتٌۭ and sweet furātun
and sweet
وَهَـٰذَا and [this] (one) wahādhā
and [this] (one)
مِلْحٌ salty mil'ḥun
salty
أُجَاجٌۭ (and) bitter ujājun
(and) bitter
وَجَعَلَ and He has made wajaʿala
and He has made
بَيْنَهُمَا between them baynahumā
between them
بَرْزَخًۭا a barrier barzakhan
a barrier
وَحِجْرًۭا and a partition waḥij'ran
and a partition
مَّحْجُورًۭا forbidden maḥjūran
forbidden
٥٣ (53)
(53)
And it is He who has released [simultaneously] the two seas [i.e., bodies of water], one fresh and sweet and one salty and bitter, and He placed between them a barrier and prohibiting partition.
25:54
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa
And He
ٱلَّذِى (is) the One Who alladhī
(is) the One Who
خَلَقَ has created khalaqa
has created
مِنَ from mina
from
ٱلْمَآءِ the water l-māi
the water
بَشَرًۭا human being basharan
human being
فَجَعَلَهُۥ and has made (for) him fajaʿalahu
and has made (for) him
نَسَبًۭا blood relationship nasaban
blood relationship
وَصِهْرًۭا ۗ and marriage relationship waṣih'ran
and marriage relationship
وَكَانَ And is wakāna
And is
رَبُّكَ your Lord rabbuka
your Lord
قَدِيرًۭا All-Powerful qadīran
All-Powerful
٥٤ (54)
(54)
And it is He who has created from water [i.e., semen] a human being and made him [a relative by] lineage and marriage. And ever is your Lord competent [concerning creation].
25:55
وَيَعْبُدُونَ But they worship wayaʿbudūna
But they worship
مِن besides Allah min
besides Allah
دُونِ besides Allah dūni
besides Allah
ٱللَّهِ besides Allah l-lahi
besides Allah
مَا what
what
لَا not profits them
not profits them
يَنفَعُهُمْ not profits them yanfaʿuhum
not profits them
وَلَا and not walā
and not
يَضُرُّهُمْ ۗ harms them yaḍurruhum
harms them
وَكَانَ and is wakāna
and is
ٱلْكَافِرُ the disbeliever l-kāfiru
the disbeliever
عَلَىٰ against ʿalā
against
رَبِّهِۦ his Lord rabbihi
his Lord
ظَهِيرًۭا a helper ẓahīran
a helper
٥٥ (55)
(55)
But they worship rather than Allāh that which does not benefit them or harm them, and the disbeliever is ever, against his Lord, an assistant [to Satan].
25:56
وَمَآ And not wamā
And not
أَرْسَلْنَـٰكَ We sent you arsalnāka
We sent you
إِلَّا except illā
except
مُبَشِّرًۭا (as) a bearer of glad tidings mubashiran
(as) a bearer of glad tidings
وَنَذِيرًۭا and a warner wanadhīran
and a warner
٥٦ (56)
(56)
And We have not sent you, [O Muḥammad], except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner.
25:57
قُلْ Say qul
Say
مَآ Not
Not
أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ I ask (of) you asalukum
I ask (of) you
عَلَيْهِ for it ʿalayhi
for it
مِنْ any min
any
أَجْرٍ payment ajrin
payment
إِلَّا except illā
except
مَن (that) whoever wills man
(that) whoever wills
شَآءَ (that) whoever wills shāa
(that) whoever wills
أَن to an
to
يَتَّخِذَ take yattakhidha
take
إِلَىٰ to ilā
to
رَبِّهِۦ his Lord rabbihi
his Lord
سَبِيلًۭا a way sabīlan
a way
٥٧ (57)
(57)
Say, "I do not ask of you for it any payment - only that whoever wills might take to his Lord a way."
25:58
وَتَوَكَّلْ And put your trust watawakkal
And put your trust
عَلَى in ʿalā
in
ٱلْحَىِّ the Ever-Living l-ḥayi
the Ever-Living
ٱلَّذِى the One Who alladhī
the One Who
لَا does not die
does not die
يَمُوتُ does not die yamūtu
does not die
وَسَبِّحْ and glorify wasabbiḥ
and glorify
بِحَمْدِهِۦ ۚ with His Praise biḥamdihi
with His Praise
وَكَفَىٰ And sufficient is wakafā
And sufficient is
بِهِۦ He bihi
He
بِذُنُوبِ regarding the sins bidhunūbi
regarding the sins
عِبَادِهِۦ (of) His slaves ʿibādihi
(of) His slaves
خَبِيرًا All-Aware khabīran
All-Aware
٥٨ (58)
(58)
And rely upon the Ever-Living who does not die, and exalt [Allāh] with His praise. And sufficient is He to be, with the sins of His servants, [fully] Aware -
25:59
ٱلَّذِى The One Who alladhī
The One Who
خَلَقَ created khalaqa
created
ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ the heavens l-samāwāti
the heavens
وَٱلْأَرْضَ and the earth wal-arḍa
and the earth
وَمَا and whatever wamā
and whatever
بَيْنَهُمَا (is) between them baynahumā
(is) between them
فِى in
in
سِتَّةِ six sittati
six
أَيَّامٍۢ periods ayyāmin
periods
ثُمَّ then thumma
then
ٱسْتَوَىٰ He established Himself is'tawā
He established Himself
عَلَى over ʿalā
over
ٱلْعَرْشِ ۚ the Throne l-ʿarshi
the Throne
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ the Most Gracious l-raḥmānu
the Most Gracious
فَسْـَٔلْ so ask fasal
so ask
بِهِۦ Him bihi
Him
خَبِيرًۭا (as He is) All-Aware khabīran
(as He is) All-Aware
٥٩ (59)
(59)
He who created the heavens and the earth and what is between them in six days and then established Himself above the Throne - the Most Merciful, so ask about Him one well informed [i.e., the Prophet (ﷺ)].
25:60
وَإِذَا And when wa-idhā
And when
قِيلَ it is said qīla
it is said
لَهُمُ to them lahumu
to them
ٱسْجُدُوا۟ Prostrate us'judū
Prostrate
لِلرَّحْمَـٰنِ to the Most Gracious lilrraḥmāni
to the Most Gracious
قَالُوا۟ They say qālū
They say
وَمَا And what wamā
And what
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنُ (is) the Most Gracious l-raḥmānu
(is) the Most Gracious
أَنَسْجُدُ Should we prostrate anasjudu
Should we prostrate
لِمَا to what limā
to what
تَأْمُرُنَا you order us tamurunā
you order us
وَزَادَهُمْ And it increases them wazādahum
And it increases them
نُفُورًۭا ۩ (in) aversion nufūran

(60)
And when it is said to them, "Prostrate to the Most Merciful," they say, "And what is the Most Merciful? Should we prostrate to that which you order us?" And it increases them in aversion.
25:61
تَبَارَكَ Blessed is He tabāraka
Blessed is He
ٱلَّذِى Who alladhī
Who
جَعَلَ has placed jaʿala
has placed
فِى in
in
ٱلسَّمَآءِ the skies l-samāi
the skies
بُرُوجًۭا constellations burūjan
constellations
وَجَعَلَ and has placed wajaʿala
and has placed
فِيهَا therein fīhā
therein
سِرَٰجًۭا a lamp sirājan
a lamp
وَقَمَرًۭا and a moon waqamaran
and a moon
مُّنِيرًۭا shining munīran
shining
٦١ (61)
(61)
Blessed is He who has placed in the sky great stars and placed therein a [burning] lamp and luminous moon.
25:62
وَهُوَ And He wahuwa
And He
ٱلَّذِى (is) the One Who alladhī
(is) the One Who
جَعَلَ made jaʿala
made
ٱلَّيْلَ the night al-layla
the night
وَٱلنَّهَارَ and the day wal-nahāra
and the day
خِلْفَةًۭ (in) succession khil'fatan
(in) succession
لِّمَنْ for whoever liman
for whoever
أَرَادَ desires arāda
desires
أَن to an
to
يَذَّكَّرَ remember yadhakkara
remember
أَوْ or aw
or
أَرَادَ desires arāda
desires
شُكُورًۭا to be thankful shukūran
to be thankful
٦٢ (62)
(62)
And it is He who has made the night and the day in succession for whoever desires to remember or desires gratitude.
25:63
وَعِبَادُ And (the) slaves waʿibādu
And (the) slaves
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ (of) the Most Gracious l-raḥmāni
(of) the Most Gracious
ٱلَّذِينَ (are) those who alladhīna
(are) those who
يَمْشُونَ walk yamshūna
walk
عَلَى on ʿalā
on
ٱلْأَرْضِ the earth l-arḍi
the earth
هَوْنًۭا (in) humbleness hawnan
(in) humbleness
وَإِذَا and when wa-idhā
and when
خَاطَبَهُمُ address them khāṭabahumu
address them
ٱلْجَـٰهِلُونَ the ignorant ones l-jāhilūna
the ignorant ones
قَالُوا۟ they say qālū
they say
سَلَـٰمًۭا Peace salāman
Peace
٦٣ (63)
(63)
And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace,
25:64
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna
And those who
يَبِيتُونَ spend (the) night yabītūna
spend (the) night
لِرَبِّهِمْ before their Lord lirabbihim
before their Lord
سُجَّدًۭا prostrating sujjadan
prostrating
وَقِيَـٰمًۭا and standing waqiyāman
and standing
٦٤ (64)
(64)
And those who spend [part of] the night to their Lord prostrating and standing [in prayer]
25:65
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna
And those who
يَقُولُونَ say yaqūlūna
say
رَبَّنَا Our Lord rabbanā
Our Lord
ٱصْرِفْ Avert iṣ'rif
Avert
عَنَّا from us ʿannā
from us
عَذَابَ the punishment ʿadhāba
the punishment
جَهَنَّمَ ۖ (of) Hell jahannama
(of) Hell
إِنَّ Indeed inna
Indeed
عَذَابَهَا its punishment ʿadhābahā
its punishment
كَانَ is kāna
is
غَرَامًا inseparable gharāman
inseparable
٦٥ (65)
(65)
And those who say, "Our Lord, avert from us the punishment of Hell. Indeed, its punishment is ever adhering;
25:66
إِنَّهَا Indeed, it innahā
Indeed, it
سَآءَتْ (is) an evil sāat
(is) an evil
مُسْتَقَرًّۭا abode mus'taqarran
abode
وَمُقَامًۭا and resting place wamuqāman
and resting place
٦٦ (66)
(66)
Indeed, it is evil as a settlement and residence."
25:67
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna
And those who
إِذَآ when idhā
when
أَنفَقُوا۟ they spend anfaqū
they spend
لَمْ (are) not extravagant lam
(are) not extravagant
يُسْرِفُوا۟ (are) not extravagant yus'rifū
(are) not extravagant
وَلَمْ and are not stingy walam
and are not stingy
يَقْتُرُوا۟ and are not stingy yaqturū
and are not stingy
وَكَانَ but are wakāna
but are
بَيْنَ between bayna
between
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
قَوَامًۭا moderate qawāman
moderate
٦٧ (67)
(67)
And [they are] those who, when they spend, do so not excessively or sparingly but are ever, between that, [justly] moderate
25:68
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna
And those who
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يَدْعُونَ invoke yadʿūna
invoke
مَعَ with maʿa
with
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
إِلَـٰهًا god ilāhan
god
ءَاخَرَ another ākhara
another
وَلَا and (do) not walā
and (do) not
يَقْتُلُونَ [they] kill yaqtulūna
[they] kill
ٱلنَّفْسَ the soul l-nafsa
the soul
ٱلَّتِى which allatī
which
حَرَّمَ Allah has forbidden ḥarrama
Allah has forbidden
ٱللَّهُ Allah has forbidden l-lahu
Allah has forbidden
إِلَّا except illā
except
بِٱلْحَقِّ by right bil-ḥaqi
by right
وَلَا and (do) not walā
and (do) not
يَزْنُونَ ۚ commit unlawful sexual intercourse yaznūna
commit unlawful sexual intercourse
وَمَن And whoever waman
And whoever
يَفْعَلْ does yafʿal
does
ذَٰلِكَ that dhālika
that
يَلْقَ will meet yalqa
will meet
أَثَامًۭا a penalty athāman
a penalty
٦٨ (68)
(68)
And those who do not invoke with Allāh another deity or kill the soul which Allāh has forbidden [to be killed], except by right, and do not commit unlawful sexual intercourse. And whoever should do that will meet a penalty.
25:69
يُضَـٰعَفْ Will be doubled yuḍāʿaf
Will be doubled
لَهُ for him lahu
for him
ٱلْعَذَابُ the punishment l-ʿadhābu
the punishment
يَوْمَ (on the) Day yawma
(on the) Day
ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ (of) Resurrection l-qiyāmati
(of) Resurrection
وَيَخْلُدْ and he will abide forever wayakhlud
and he will abide forever
فِيهِۦ therein fīhi
therein
مُهَانًا humiliated muhānan
humiliated
٦٩ (69)
(69)
Multiplied for him is the punishment on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein humiliated -
25:70
إِلَّا Except illā
Except
مَن (he) who man
(he) who
تَابَ repents tāba
repents
وَءَامَنَ and believes waāmana
and believes
وَعَمِلَ and does waʿamila
and does
عَمَلًۭا righteous deeds ʿamalan
righteous deeds
صَـٰلِحًۭا righteous deeds ṣāliḥan
righteous deeds
فَأُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ then (for) those fa-ulāika
then (for) those
يُبَدِّلُ Allah will replace yubaddilu
Allah will replace
ٱللَّهُ Allah will replace l-lahu
Allah will replace
سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ their evil deeds sayyiātihim
their evil deeds
حَسَنَـٰتٍۢ ۗ (with) good ones ḥasanātin
(with) good ones
وَكَانَ And is wakāna
And is
ٱللَّهُ Allah l-lahu
Allah
غَفُورًۭا Oft-Forgiving ghafūran
Oft-Forgiving
رَّحِيمًۭا Most Merciful raḥīman
Most Merciful
٧٠ (70)
(70)
Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous work. For them Allāh will replace their evil deeds with good. And ever is Allāh Forgiving and Merciful.
25:71
وَمَن And whoever waman
And whoever
تَابَ repents tāba
repents
وَعَمِلَ and does waʿamila
and does
صَـٰلِحًۭا righteous (deeds) ṣāliḥan
righteous (deeds)
فَإِنَّهُۥ then indeed, he fa-innahu
then indeed, he
يَتُوبُ turns yatūbu
turns
إِلَى to ilā
to
ٱللَّهِ Allah l-lahi
Allah
مَتَابًۭا (with) repentance matāban
(with) repentance
٧١ (71)
(71)
And he who repents and does righteousness does indeed turn to Allāh with [accepted] repentance.
25:72
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna
And those who
لَا (do) not
(do) not
يَشْهَدُونَ bear witness yashhadūna
bear witness
ٱلزُّورَ (to) the falsehood l-zūra
(to) the falsehood
وَإِذَا and when wa-idhā
and when
مَرُّوا۟ they pass marrū
they pass
بِٱللَّغْوِ by futility bil-laghwi
by futility
مَرُّوا۟ they pass marrū
they pass
كِرَامًۭا (as) dignified ones kirāman
(as) dignified ones
٧٢ (72)
(72)
And [they are] those who do not testify to falsehood, and when they pass near ill speech, they pass by with dignity.
25:73
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna
And those who
إِذَا when idhā
when
ذُكِّرُوا۟ they are reminded dhukkirū
they are reminded
بِـَٔايَـٰتِ of (the) Verses biāyāti
of (the) Verses
رَبِّهِمْ (of) their Lord rabbihim
(of) their Lord
لَمْ (do) not lam
(do) not
يَخِرُّوا۟ fall yakhirrū
fall
عَلَيْهَا upon them ʿalayhā
upon them
صُمًّۭا deaf ṣumman
deaf
وَعُمْيَانًۭا and blind waʿum'yānan
and blind
٧٣ (73)
(73)
And those who, when reminded of the verses of their Lord, do not fall upon them deaf and blind.
25:74
وَٱلَّذِينَ And those who wa-alladhīna
And those who
يَقُولُونَ say yaqūlūna
say
رَبَّنَا Our Lord rabbanā
Our Lord
هَبْ Grant hab
Grant
لَنَا to us lanā
to us
مِنْ from min
from
أَزْوَٰجِنَا our spouses azwājinā
our spouses
وَذُرِّيَّـٰتِنَا and our offspring wadhurriyyātinā
and our offspring
قُرَّةَ comfort qurrata
comfort
أَعْيُنٍۢ (to) our eyes aʿyunin
(to) our eyes
وَٱجْعَلْنَا and make us wa-ij'ʿalnā
and make us
لِلْمُتَّقِينَ for the righteous lil'muttaqīna
for the righteous
إِمَامًا a leader imāman
a leader
٧٤ (74)
(74)
And those who say, "Our Lord, grant us from among our wives and offspring comfort to our eyes and make us a leader [i.e., example] for the righteous."
25:75
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ Those ulāika
Those
يُجْزَوْنَ will be awarded yuj'zawna
will be awarded
ٱلْغُرْفَةَ the Chamber l-ghur'fata
the Chamber
بِمَا because bimā
because
صَبَرُوا۟ they were patient ṣabarū
they were patient
وَيُلَقَّوْنَ and they will be met wayulaqqawna
and they will be met
فِيهَا therein fīhā
therein
تَحِيَّةًۭ (with) greetings taḥiyyatan
(with) greetings
وَسَلَـٰمًا and peace wasalāman
and peace
٧٥ (75)
(75)
Those will be awarded the Chamber for what they patiently endured, and they will be received therein with greetings and [words of] peace,
25:76
خَـٰلِدِينَ Will abide forever khālidīna
Will abide forever
فِيهَا ۚ in it fīhā
in it
حَسُنَتْ Good ḥasunat
Good
مُسْتَقَرًّۭا (is) the settlement mus'taqarran
(is) the settlement
وَمُقَامًۭا and a resting place wamuqāman
and a resting place
٧٦ (76)
(76)
Abiding eternally therein. Good is the settlement and residence.
25:77
قُلْ Say qul
Say
مَا Not
Not
يَعْبَؤُا۟ will care yaʿba-u
will care
بِكُمْ for you bikum
for you
رَبِّى my Lord rabbī
my Lord
لَوْلَا if not lawlā
if not
دُعَآؤُكُمْ ۖ your prayer (is to Him) duʿāukum
your prayer (is to Him)
فَقَدْ But verily faqad
But verily
كَذَّبْتُمْ you have denied kadhabtum
you have denied
فَسَوْفَ so soon fasawfa
so soon
يَكُونُ will be yakūnu
will be
لِزَامًۢا the inevitable (punishment) lizāman
the inevitable (punishment)
٧٧ (77)
(77)
Say, "What would my Lord care for you if not for your supplication?"1 For you [disbelievers] have denied, so it [i.e., your denial] is going to be adherent.
